     The consumer has a safety concern about the timer on the range. The range was installed on 3/8/2023.

     (03/09/2023) The consumer stated that she cannot hear the timer even if she’s standing close to the product because the sound is too faint. The consumer is concerned that not hearing the timer will cause a fire when the range is in use, and she is not in the kitchen to turn the stove off.

     The consumer contacted the manufacturer. A technician was sent out to her home. The technician never listened to or tested the timer. He only checked the manual. A second technician was sent out. The technician tested the sound and ordered a new timer. However, after the new timer was installed, the sound is still faint.

     The consumer contacted the firm again on 5/30. Someone was supposed to call her back.

     The product, in the report: This product is a Frigidaire standalone oven/stove/range unit that came with our newly built house when we moved in (we are the first owners, and I assume the company who built out homes has a contract with Frigidaire to install their products in the homes they built). The unit is silver and back and can be used for cooking on the stove top or cooking in the oven. It also has a bottom drawer that we don’t use. Model #: FFEF3054TSH, Serial #: VF83504619.

     Today I experienced a terrifying and dangerous situation with my household Frigidaire oven/range unit. Our house came with Model # FFEF3054TSH, Serial # VF83504619 and we use both the stove-top/range and the oven portions of this unit in typical fashion, just cooking meals for two (nothing fancy). We had not had any issues or damages to either the cooking surfaces or the interior or exterior of the unit prior to this dangerous situation. The unit I am reporting was not in use during its spontaneous explosion, and had been out of use for over twelve hours prior. On May 1, 2023 at around 4:00pm CST I was opening mail at my kitchen counter when I heard a loud explosion. Out of the corner of my eye I watched the tempered glass window from the front of my oven blow off and scatter throughout my kitchen and living area. I realized quickly that the explosion I heard was the glass being blown out and broken from the front of my oven.

     While I am grateful that the only injuries sustained during this incident occurred to my fingers while cleaning up the shards of tempered glass, the event was scary and the fact it occurred completely spontaneously, when the unit was not in use and had not been used in over twelve hours prior makes it a dangerous product. I am lucky that I was home and able to prevent my pets from walking across the glass and cutting their feet, but not every consumer will have or has had this same luck and people are at risk when purchasing, using, or having this product from this company. When researching the situation online, it is very apparent that my household is not the only one to have this issue with Frigidaire oven glass exploding, and we are also not the only ones to be denied reimbursement, assistance, and the opportunity to file a proper complaint with the company. In fact, this seems to be an increasingly common issue with this specific company. I have not been allowed to file a complaint, and now I am torn between paying hundreds of dollars to repair the glass on a unit that I no longer trust to operate (or exist) safely, or spend even more money purchasing a brand new oven/range unit from a company with better safety reputations and customer service. Either way, this spontaneous explosion has created a significant financial setback for my household, and we are angry that the company responsible for ensuring the safety of their product is refusing to make it right. Not only would I like to report a dangerous product, I would like to report a dangerous company who couldn’t care less about the safety of consumers or about taking responsibilities for their own faulty product.

     I am happy to provide more information as well as images depicting the damage. I do consider myself lucky, but I am still negatively affected by this occurrence and I want to help make sure it doesn’t happen to others. Again, there are so many news reports, forums, reviews, and more available that highlight this same issue with this same company. It could have been so much worse. Please put a stop to these dangerous products being available on the market. Now that I know how Frigidaire handles dangerous and faulty products and customer service, I would never recommend them for anyone or anything, ever.

     The product, in the report: Frigidaire ElectroLux Gallery double oven with external smoke glass. Serial # AF03600301 and Model # FGET3066UFB. It was purchased by the [REDACTED] apartment developer in Naples, FL.

     On April 28, 2023, at around 7:05pm EST, I heated my top Frigidaire/Electrolux double oven to 400 to cook my partially frozen Barramundi fish for 30-35 minutes. Around 7:45pm, I turned the oven off and I was sitting on my couch about 13 feet away speaking with a friend on the phone when we both heard an explosion, and I looked over toward my kitchen. I stood up to get a better view and saw the brown colored glass on the floor. I was barefoot so I carefully walked around the family room chair and found glass within 6 feet of where I was sitting. I took the first picture at 9:05pm from a distance, due to being barefoot, and you can see that the control/display panel showed everything was off and only the time was showing. The external smoke colored glass was shattered. Once I had my shoes on, I started walking around the kitchen and I stood back because I kept hearing the external shattered glass popping as pieces were still being projected onto the floor. I slowly approached from the left side and felt the oven’s intact clear glass and it was very hot. I then tried to partially open the oven door to let the heat out, but the shattered glass kept popping and falling so I re-closed the door. I believe opening the oven door helped relieve any pressure heat in the oven and the island saved me from getting hit by the flying glass. Medium to very small pieces of different shaped glass were to the left and right of the oven, up on the countertops, thrown behind the butter dish, and down the hallway to the spare bedrooms, in addition to being behind the family room chair near me. I texted our apartment manager, [REDACTED], and called their emergency line where [REDACTED], the maintenance lead, and [REDACTED] showed up around 10:00pm. The clear glass on the oven was still hot even though the oven showed turned off and just had the time. They started cleaning up the glass and around 11:00pm the clear glass was still warm to the touch. [REDACTED] then decided to shut off the apartment’s main circuit panel to the oven. I have read there have been unexplained explosions of glass and that the Consumer Product Safety Commission says safety glass should break into nuggets and not shards. But these pieces of glass were very sharp, and some were like arrows. I have two independent witnesses that help clean up the broken glass and they had to double up the garbage bag due to the sharpness of the glass pieces. If I had been hit by these shards of glass at the high velocity speed it broke, they would have punctured my eyes, sliced my face, skin, neck etc. I was by myself, and I could have been badly injured and unconscious bleeding for an hour and half before my husband came home from work. The display/control panel did not show anything was turned on, yet this oven got extremely hot to cause this explosion and rapid velocity spray of the external smoke colored glass. I read how they blame people for resting things on the glass, or damaging the glass, or a crack in the glass that grew, or how people use the glass to shut the metal shelves and more. This was not the case with our oven. None of those reasons explain why the oven was hot for three hours while showing it was off. Plus, this is a two-year-old oven, barely used, by two very meticulous and careful adults with no children in the apartment. Something needs to be done before someone is hurt. If I had been within range and the island hadn’t been between the oven and I, then those high velocity shards of glass would have easily placed me in the hospital. Glass powerful enough where it shoots out, smashes against an island, and then flies 4 feet to the sides behind butter dishes, against backsplashes, and down hallways is powerful enough to have caused severe damage to me or someone else.

     I can send pictures if you can tell me how/where I can do that, if this system doesn’t allow me to upload them. I look forward to a reply on how these ovens that are turning on/staying on with no notice, heating up so intense that it causes glass to become high velocity projectiles or potentially can cause a fire are going to be corrected.

     I was using my Frigidaire flat top range and oven on April 11, 2023. I was using the oven at 450 degrees for 35 minutes. Standing in front of the oven door, the oven stove top, which was turned off, felt unusually warm, and then the outer glass door on the oven exploded out into my legs and the kitchen. This unit was purchased only two years ago almost to the date. This is a safety hazard, and Frigidaire customer service has said there is nothing they can do to support me, as the unit is over one year old, which is ridiculous. Thankfully no one was injured. I am an adult woman.

     Moved into rental unit, broiling chicken in oven, over shut-off automatically, smoke detectors started beeping, could not shut off. There was no smoke no fire, so did not understand when oven shut-off, also tripped the circuit break. Called Emergency Maintenance, twice, waited an hour no response. Called 911, explain facts, asked their advice. Firefighters arrived, when the Captain unscrewedd cap of smoke detector on hallway ceiling, wires came out in bundle with plastic wrap, tape around bundle. Captain said: “Ma’am you’re smoke detectors were never installed and your battery is dead, you need to have a trained professional install these smoke detectors, as I had no protection from fire. Asked what type battery, said 9-volt, asked how to install, showed me, so after they left, went to [REDACTED] bought 9 volt, and installed it. Captain asked about oven that shut itself off Told him management had said to another resident, when her oven/stove shut off, it was a “special feature” of that stove, to shut itself off, when it overheats, to prevent fire. Captain [REDACTED] said he was not familiar with that “Special Feature.”

     I own a “30 in. 5.4 cu. ft. Induction Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Oven in Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel with Air Fry” by Frigidaire that I purchased in May of 2022. The oven has buttons to operate the burners rather than physical switches. Two times now I have heard beeping coming from the oven, and when I went into the kitchen I have found that the oven had registered inputs from the buttons despite no human or animal being anywhere near the stove. In the most recent incident, at roughly 3am on March 23, I was awoken by beeping coming from my kitchen, and came downstairs to find that the oven had started a one minute timer and turned the oven light on.

     In the previous instance, the oven turned a burner on to the highest power setting. (There happened to be a clean non-stick frying pan sitting on top of the oven when this happened - I believe the oven needs to detect the presence of a pan in order to turn on.) On the highest power setting an empty pan would vaporize it’s non-stick coating within minutes (if not seconds) and plausibly even melt the pan. Furthermore, if the oven had other flammable items in the vicinity when this happened, it’s easy to imagine it starting a fire. Fortunately I made it into the room within 30 seconds and was able to turn off the burner (and remove the pan) before this happened.

     I’ve turned off the oven at my home circuit breaker and don’t plan to leave it energized when not using it, due to what I perceive to be an extreme fire hazard from an oven that can randomly turn itself (or its burners) on at any time, and am contacting Frigidaire.

     Frigidaire Induction Stove model FGIS 3065 PFD has a faulty stove top heat selection dial. The stove randomly turns on one of the stove top induction coils by itself. This is a slide in stove model used daily in a kitchen setting. I’ve received a couple of mild burns from grabbing an empty pot or metal spoon rest due to this dangerous malfunction. I chatted with a Frigidaire service representative and was told it was out of warrantee.

     A new electric range with convection oven, $1,800msrp, turns itself on and off at any given time This is a fire hazard! I awoke on Tuesday morning to find the warming element on. In 6 months of ownership I have never used that function. A technician came and dismantled the control panel and inside the computer circuitry board were two little insects. There are no insects in the kitchen except inside the stove circuitry .There have been two service techs in here opening cabinets and drawers, pulling the stove out, trying to find bugs and there aren’t any. I told the technician the insects could have been delivered in the box with the stove and he agreed that was possible but since the insects caused the problem no repair was needed. So I have a fire hazard in my home and am afraid to leave the stove plugged in when I go out. There have been no injuries, but because the stove does things on its own it’s dangerous and I am frightened to have it in my home. It seems a profound design flaw that would allow an insect to get into the inner controls of a major appliance and potentially start a fire. I have multiple photos on my phone of things this stove has done but I am not technically savvy enough to upload them. I plan to show them to the store manager when trying to return this fire hazard. I would suggest no one risk having this fire hazard in their home.

     The product, in the report: Electric range with oven

     2/15/2023: The bottom oven element caught fire and the fire was so strong that it burned a whole through the oven’s metal bottom floor.

     The oven may have been in use for 2 – 3 minutes and set to approximately 350 degrees. The consumer initially noticed a very bright fire through the oven’s window. The consumer immediately turned the oven off and the flames died out on their own. Due to the speed of action by the consumer, damage was limit to the oven.

     He has not contacted the mfr, but has seen different videos on [REDACTED], about these ranges catching fire.

     He is further extremely concerned, because the flames burned through the bottom metal portion of the oven.

     • The consumer noted that the cook top is still working. Therefore, the problem is limited to the oven in his instance.

     NOTE: He has never had any problems with it in the past.

     4/4/2023: I contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer referred me to their factory authorized repair technician. I asked to speak with their technical/engineering dept. I was told they do not have one. It could not be ascertained that there will be future serious over-heating problems due to the hole in the bottom.

     My wife was using our Frigidaire electric wall oven to bake a cake today. The cake was baked at 325 degrees F. After the cake was done, my wife turned off the oven, removed the cake from the oven, and closed the oven door in the same manner she always does.

     Approximately 10-15 minutes after the oven had been turned off, my wife was standing at the counter, in close proximity to the oven, while the cake cooled down. Suddenly, and without warning, the glass on the oven door exploded and shattered against my wife’s legs and all over the floor.

     Thankfully my wife was wearing jeans, which protected her from injury. If she had been wearing shorts, or if one of our young children had been standing in front of the over door, or in close proximity to it, they most likely would have been injured.

     There were no visible marks, scratches, or any other damage to the oven door. We purchased the ovens less than three years ago. The model number for our wall oven is FGEW3066UFC.

     my 3 year old Fridgiaire electric range wires melted and burned from one of the factory installed terminal connections in the back of the oven. The house filled with an awful plastic smell and one of the wires was charred in half and burnt. The Fridgidaire representative was only concerned that I did not have an extended warranty and unphased at the fact that this could have cause a house fire had I not been home. I was moments away from calling the fire department as the house was full of a plastic smell and I had no idea where it was coming from. The back of the stove was very clean and there was no dust or dirt. I feel that Fridgidaire should have been a bit concerned as to why the product did this and tried to fix the problem with me, the consumer. This product to me is unsafe.

     The product, in the report: Pull out range with oven

     Approximately 3 – 4 months ago, the consumer noticed that the rear left burner (if facing the range) would not hold the temperature it was set to.

     Weeks later, the right front burner, began doing the exact same thing. This burner spontaneously jumped to a higher setting, unexpectedly.

     Approximately, 2/20/2023: The consumer tried to use the bridge-element, on the left-hand side of the range, but it was completely frozen and would not turn on. That bridge stretches between the front and rear, left elements.

     2/23/2023: The consumer had a local technician come out and examine the range. The tech. mentioned CPSC Recall# [REDACTED], and the consumer problem is identical to the issues mentioned in that recall.

     However, the technician told the consumer that the recall instructions advised owners to unplug the range, indicated that it could not be fixed and recommended that it be discarded.

     NOTE: She is unsure when the range was purchased, but it presents hazard like the ones in the past recall.

     They heard a sizzle sound and saw that the left rear electric burner had turned on by itself and instantly the burner was unrealistically hot. She had an acrylic cannister on it which she grabbed off quickly. Stove is 15 years old. There were no injuries.

The product was not in use and there was no known or visible damage. Nobody was injured because nobody was directly next to it.      Frigidaire induction range model number FGI 3047VFC, serial number VF24017248, purchased in October, 2022, for family use in a home; shortly after purchase began beeping for no reason, then began to turn on by itself at random times. Woke up to a burning smell, and found a burner had turned itself on, heating up a pan to the point of scorching the stove surface. The steam clean and oven clean function will come on by itself, the bake mode will come on by itself, the broil mode will come on by itself. Technicians have been out 6 times and have replaced 1 board and 1 panel, but the issue continues. We have to try and remember to flip the breaker off at night in fear of the house burning down because of this defective product. Dozens of other consumers have complained about these same issues, and Frigidaire refuses to acknowledge the product is dangerous. I listed yesterday as the incident date, but this issue is happening every day since October.

     spontaneously outer glass explosion of oven door. Oven was turned on to preheat and within 1 minute the front glass of the door exploded outward sending chards of glass 2 to 5 feet away from the stove. This glass is cleaned weekly and no micro fractures, scratches were ever seen. Stove has not had trauma from being hit by pots and pans or the racks making contact with the glass.      I had made dinner in our Frigidaire oven this evening in our Smooth Surface 5-Element 5.4-cu ft Steam Cleaning Freestanding Electric Range (EasyCare Stainless Steel) Item #: 848340|Model #: LFEF3054TF that we had purchased from Lowe’s in September of 2019. We sat down to eat at the dinner table and just after finished eating we heard a huge explosion in the kitchen. We went to go look and there was broken glass scattered all over the floor from the oven. We have lived in many homes and I have 2 ovens in this home and never in my life have I ever experienced anything like this. This is extremely dangerous. I have a young child and dog that regularly sit on the floor in front of this oven and just were doing so about 35 minutes prior to the explosion. If we hadn’t been eating they would have been there.

     UPDATED 2/9/2023: [I just want to emphasize that it was not like a warranty issue like a burner stopped working or anything else. This was a full on safety hazard of an explosion happening in my kitchen.

     UPDATED 2/13/2023: [REDACTED] [Particularly interesting is the part that says,” Chicago glass expert [REDACTED] said many oven manufacturers have switched from borosilicate glass to tempered glass to save money. The problem is tempered glass is not as sturdy as borosilicate which is the same type of glass used in laboratory beakers. “Because it’s tempered it can tolerate a lot more stress, a lot more,” [REDACTED] said. “Nonetheless, there are times it can be pushed beyond its endurance and it will break.“

     Frigidaire would not tell [REDACTED] what type of glass was used in [REDACTED] range.

     But [REDACTED] said the only logical explanation for glass shattering on a three-year-old range that wasn’t even turned on, would be the existence of flaw, such as a tiny chip at the edge of the glass. He said it would be the type of flaw that would most likely occur during the glass manufacturing process.

     What is sad to me is that you are aware of this problem and do not address because not enough serious injuries. Well, I have a child that is now scared to go into my kitchen or by the oven because it exploded. You are failing at following up on the PTSD that you are causing those that have been exposed. The crazy thing is there is not currently a door on my oven because it has already exploded. Yet, my child is in fear of something happening.

     My daughter regularly puts her face up against the glass when we are making cookies to watch. If this were to happen while she was doing this she would be blind or worse...seriously injured. The force is great as it projected the glass 6-8 feet from our oven and made a bomb like explosion. Ours was not on at the time. However, you are aware of this and counting it off as nothing. It is a cost analysis that you are allowing. Not taking into consideration the true safety of consumers but are willing to take the chance at allowing the companies to continue to allow this until someone goes blind or gets seriously injured and then has to sue but at what cost...a serious injury. Then will you decide it is enough? Or does it have to happen to your family member or in your household before you decide that it is a problem. The glass isfaulty and you do not care.]

     The oven was purchased 6/1/2022 and installed in the home 9/30/2022. NOTE: The consumer has never been able to us the oven since it has been installed in her home.

     Early October 2022. The consumer turned the oven on and the lights came on, but it automatically tripped the breaker. She caller her contractor and he came out.

     The technician was not sure what was wrong, but the breaker kept tripping every time the oven was turned on.

     She contacted the brand name company and was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent out a technician, but he told the consumer that her breaker was the problem.

     10/27/2022: The consumer had an electrician come out and he replaced her oven breaker and told her that there was a short in her appliance. Although he replaced the breaker, he also told her nothing was wrong with the breaker. He replaced it to eliminate, that as a cause for the oven not working.

     The consumer called the manufacturer back. They sent the same technician back out. The technician told the consumer he could not examine the oven further unless she removed it from the wall, and he was not willing to remove it.

     The consumer had technicians (2 people) remove it from the wall. The mfr’s technician (from [REDACTED]) came back out, removed the back of the oven, and saw burn marks that resulted from this issue. The tech. said he would ask the firm to replace her stove.

     The firm declined the tech’s request for a replacement. The firm’s rep. told the consumer that it would have to be repaired. The consumer questioned how it should be repaired, if she has never been able to use it.

     They sent the same technician back out again. The technician made additional notes and said there was a factory defect and that the oven was too far back into the wall. Her electrician was there while the mfr’s tech. was there. The mfr’s tech. went on to say that it’s difficult to get the firm to replace a product, but she could take a picture of the damage that he saw and sent that information to the firm.

     The technician also wrote the following on the service paperwork: “Manufacturer defect or wall oven element hitting the back and tripping the breaker. Top and lower wall oven new, never used.” That [REDACTED] Technician, also showed the consumer where he sent pictures of this matter to the firm.

     11/2022 or 12/2022: A different electrician removed the back of the oven and saw where there was sparking in the back of the top oven and the lower oven exhibited fire potential in an area it should not have. The mfr’s tech. advised the consumer that she should not use the oven, because of the potential fire hazard.

     1/30/2023: The same manufacturer’s technicians came out, but would not touch the oven, because it was not plugged up. The consumer would not plug in the oven, because of the potential fire hazard. The consumer wonders why the [REDACTED] technicians sent a service bill to the manufacturer for their visit, If the same tech. had been out numerous times and never resolved the issue. What was the point of the bill and them coming out the last time.

     Frigidaire Gallery FGEH3047VF electric range purchased 8/27/2021, installed 8/28/2021. On February 1, 2023, preheated oven to 450 and placed potatoes inside to cook. Within minutes, entire range shut down due to breaker being tripped. Husband reset breaker and range did not turn on but did have “pop” sound. When we looked at rear of range saw wire lug mounts of main incoming power to range had burned up and melted. Called Frigidaire and they would not help other than to offer a repair company order which would not be paid for by Frigidaire. This product could have set my kitchen on fire and even if it could be repaired, I would not want to chance this happening again.

I smelt plastic burning. When I tried to use the oven again it would not turn on and I called for repair.      I purchased a brand new Frigidaire oven (model # FCRE305LAFA) from Lowes in December 2019. Not even 3 years later, on November 3, 2022, the exterior glass on the oven door exploded sending shards of glass over 10 feet across my kitchen. The oven was not being used and was not even on and randomly and without warning shattered while I was home with my 4 year old daughter. Luckily nobody got hurt because we were not in the kitchen. But if we had been in the kitchen, we could have been cut by the glass. My daughter whose face is at the height of the oven door would have had glass shards explode in her face including in her eyes. I called Frigidaire and was told this is a known issue and there’s nothing they can do since it’s out of warranty. I went to the Lowes website to leave a review about my experience and found several other reviews that say the same thing happened to them. I did a quick search for reviews that mention glass and looked through the first 30 reviews. 8 of those 30 reviews detail how the glass panel randomly shattered. That’s over a quarter of the subset of reviews I looked at. This is a huge customer safety concern. This oven needs to be recalled and the consumers who purchased this oven need to be refunded. Frigidaire needs to be held accountable.

     On Christmas day, the consumer had just finished making her meal. The stove was off and nothing was on top on it. Everyone sat down to begin eating Christmas dinner. Several minutes after finishing cooking, about 15 minutes, the stove suddenly let off a loud sound. The consumer described it as a gunshot. I was standing in front of stove had exploded. The glass in the front of her oven door had broken and spread all over her kitchen.

     On 12/27/22, the consumer spoke with Frigidaire, who offered to dispatch a tech for parts and labor, but consumer declined due to paying expense.

The consumer contacted a local contractor, who said he fixed knob but this problem kept happening afterwards. He mentioned that he would need to get a repair part that would cost over $600. It was professionally glued fast forward to today and my now 19 month old sliced her finger tonight in the same slot. The metal is extremely sharp on the edge.

     I have a Frigidaire oven with built in air fryer. Bought it in 2019. In February of 2021 my 2 year old stuck is finger in the vent slot on the door near the handle and sliced his finger on the edge of the metal causing use to have to the ER for medical glue. Fast forward to today and my now 20 month old has done the same thing. The edge on the metal is extremely sharp.

I sliced the top of my finger pretty severely and recoiled my hand out. After bandaging my wound, I looked inside the drawer and saw where I cut my self. The way the pan was formed there is a large extremely sharp metal edge running across the bottom of the entire pan. This is what I cut myself on. It is extremely unsafe to have and exposed sharp metal surface where hands are supposed to reach. I have spent months trying to rehabilitate my finger due to where, how deep it sliced, and I can no longer wear my wedding ring on my finger because of the pain/swelling.

     Within the first year or so of purchase (approx. 2011 - 2012), the front right burner, would jump to the high setting and could not be turned off by the control knob. The consumer stopped using that burner and placed tape over it, so her family also would not use it.

     (date unknown) All 3 other burners, would not maintain the appropriate temperature setting, but she never had them service Primarily, because she thought the repairs would be at her expense.

     (different years) Two different oven heating elements caught fire and she paid to have them replaced. She ordered the parts from the dealer, picked them up and installed the part herself, on 2 different occasions.

     Spring-2022, the oven broiler caught fire during use. The consumer discontinued use of the broiler.

     11/2022: She was recently found CPSC Recall # 09-333, while searching for parts and indicated that she experienced problems similar to what was stated in the recall. She was never aware of a recall and although her model does appear to be included, it has presented several of the same problems.

     7/13/2022: The consumer turned the oven to pre-heat (at 400 degrees) and it gave a beep that it was ready. It may have been on for 3 – 5 minutes, when she placed dinner in the oven. Within seconds, she heard a popping sound and glass flew across her kitchen approximately 12” The oven has a double glass and the outer glass shattered.

     Glass flew forward and out towards the sides of the oven dropped in the bottom drawer. The consumer immediately turned the oven off. There was no glass inside the oven.

     There was no injury.

     Same day, the consumer called the manufacturer and was referred to a local service company.

     7/14/2022: The next day, the consumer called the local manufacturer’s representative [REDACTED] and spoke with a different rep. Today’s rep. told her that they would cover parts & labor, if the problem was not a result of anything the consumer did. She was also referred to a different service company. However, the rep. (name unavailable) told the consumer that the technician would be out the following week. The consumer asked what should she do without an oven and the rep.. advised her not to use it.

     The consumer said that she has never had any problems with this oven in the past.

     Additionally, she checked the dealer’s website and found approximately 8 other reviews, where people indicated they had experienced a similar problem, with the oven glass exploding.

     My family was watching a movie in our living room when we heard a pop and the outer glass of our oven door burst and shattered to pieces. The oven had not been used all day and the stove top had been used on low about 2 hours prior to the break. It was sitting unused. Luckily no one was near the oven when it spontaneously burst otherwise they would have been hurt. This is extremely dangerous especially with three small children in our home. Also, so glad no one was hurt while cleaning the glass as there were 1,000s of tiny sharp pieces. The youngest children still have not learned how dangerous broken glass can be and I hate to think what would have happened if I had not been in the room.      My frigidare electrolux smooth top range has a mind of its own. It reaches temps too high for the setting and at times will not turn off. It tuns back on by itself. I have experiences serious burns by accidentally touching the top of the oven door when checking something in the oven. The oven gets so hot that when you open the door, the steam heat hits you in the face and you have to stand away from it. Toxic fumes were released from the oven when I tried self-cleaning it. We had to leave the house until they cleared out. The burns on my arm were so severe, I am left with nasty scars. The self-cleaning oven does not properly clean leaving the oven door nasty and unable to see into the oven. There is something seriously wrong with these stoves. I can’t understand why all has not been recalled. They are a serious risk and can cause very serious burns with normal use. I have been permanently scarred just by briefly touching the top of the oven door. The intensity of the heat that comes from the oven when you open it is like no heat I have ever experienced!

Issue/who was using the product: today, after my husband cooked chicken at 400* for 20 minutes, the oven door exploded! Injuries: I slightly burned my hand as I immediately tried to clean up the glass. We rushed our pets and children out of the kitchen. As I type this, glass is still exploding all over my kitchen floor as the glass cools. This is a fairly new stove that has faced NO misuse. Frigidaire will not stand behind the product and told me to contact a repairman.

     Report Update 6/24/22: Frigidaire responded to my complaint with Better Business Bureau and offered me 50% of a replacement pane of glass. I politely declined because I do not want this dangerous appliance in my home. A few days ago, I was STILL cleaning broken glass off my floor (because it kept crackling and breaking) when the outer glass exploded all over my face and into my hair. The range had been unplugged for 3 days prior to the second explosion. This is clearly a manufactures defect that Frigidaire is washing their hands of. The stove has already been removed from my home and I purchased a replacement- NOT Frigidaire brand. However, I do not feel that this company should be let off the hook for selling such dangerous products to innocent consumers. Lastly, they’ve “moderated” my reviews on their website dozens of times. So, they are basically refusing to allow the truth to be spoken about this appliance! Please let me know if I can provide any additional information.

     I’m trying to report a safety defect with the Frigidare FGIH3047VFB induction range and get help resolving it. The range has a mica heat shield attached to the part WCI-5304519432. It is not shown on the parts diagram but it was originally glued to that part in my range. The glue failed and the heat shield fell off causing the control panel part (WCI-5304522786) to overheat when the oven was on and fail.      Right before Easter our oven caught fire while in use. Model FGEF3032MFE, Serial no. VF24351411. Subsequently we had to purchase a new range. I did save the control board from the defective oven, attached are some pictures. My biggest concern with this incident is that while the oven was on bake, zucchini breads were being baked, it reverted to broiler high when failure occurred. Had this failure occurred right after starting the baking we would not have been home to shut off the oven / breaker as we ran to the store. This would most assuredly led to a house fire! From a safety standpoint, how could this control panel have passed UL testing if this type of resistor failure could cause the oven to not trip an internal fuse, or the house breaker? I attempted to speak with someone at Frigidaire / electrolux but after thirty minutes the only human I was able to reach wanted to read me their script on “pull the plug and wait five minutes” even though I explained the fact that there was a fire on the control panel. When I asked to be transferred to either a supervisor or better yet a safety department, I was blind transferred to an automated message that played one and disconnected.      (approx.. 2007) The handle started detaching from the oven door, when the consumer & her family pulled the oven door handle to open it.

     After it’s used 3 or 4 times, one end of the handle detaches. Either sides of the handle can detach and both sides have done so for years. After it detaches, the husband re-inserts the screw to make it as tight as possible. However, over time the problem repeatedly occurs. There is a permanent washer on the inside of the door, but nothing else securing the screw. If there was some type of nut on the inside of the door to secure the screw, that might prevent the problem from happening.

     When this screw comes out, the oven door begins to separate. The consumer said that one can actually see down in between the oven door and the glass window on the door. There have never been any injuries.

     Next, If facing the range, the front right burner, has turned white inside of the burner’s circle. She cannot clean that area and the problem has not happened with any other burner. The range/oven was not included in CPSC Recall #09-333, but she questions if the issues in that recall could either cause or contribute to discoloration of that burner. This problem started approximately 1 year ago.

     The glass of our oven shattered without heat, impact or incident. This was not just a crack, but jagged shards of glass strewn across our kitchen and dangling from the front of the oven. Our oven is only 4 years old and has not been subject to harsh treatment, there should be no cause for it to break in such a dramatic way. We believe that there must be some sort of manufacturing defect in the glass or design to allow this to happen. This creates an inherent danger with the item.

     We have small children and pets who would be at eye level with the oven. Luckily it occurred when no one was in the room and therefore no one was injured, so we reported it accordingly.

     The consumer’s girlfriend heard an explosion in their home. She walked into the kitchen and there was glass all across the floor and other items in the room. The girlfriend made a video of the damage and caught footage of the glass while it was still popping.

     This oven had glass that covered the entire outer door and there Is a smaller glass window inside. Although the entire outer glass shattered, the inner glass remained intact.

     The incident occurred 1/3/2022 and the oven was last used the previous day. Therefore, it had in the off position for nearly 24 hours.

     1/4/2022: The consumer called the manufacturer and tried to tell their rep. about the incident. However, he said their rep. became defensive and repeatedly asked how he broke the glass. The call was suddenly disconnected and the consumer was unable to call back and speak with a live person.

     Report Addendum: Glass exploded/shattered all over our kitchen. If a child or pet had been near the stove when it happened I believe they could have been harmed. Glass also ended up in our pets’ food bowls. What if we had not been home to clean it up immediately. Some of the glass was jagged and we had to be careful while cleaning up to not be cut which is a risk. This is a serious risk especially for a 2 yr old product! Someone needs to look into these occurrences. It is not safe, and happened by no fault of our own.

     The front glass of my oven shattered. I found glass clear across the room. I had been using my oven (normal use) 375° F baking a delicious pumpkin pie. My oven is not even 2 years old and gets used at a normal rate. The oven was off (but still warm) when the glass shattered. Thankfully my pie was already finished, because I will not be able to make one until this is repaired. It is a Frigidaire. Model Number: LFEF3054TFJ - Serial Number: VF01502758. Thankfully it was me who standing in the kitchen having to dodge glass and not my children. No injuries. Everyone is safe. And for that we are grateful. No previous indications of irregularities with the glass. No recalls on this item. Discussed it with a Frigidaire rep and she has no idea why it would happen, though did say it has happened before. She had no answers to why, “it should not happen again,” when it actually should have not happened in the first place.

The 1-foot wide charred circle was almost completely burnt through.

     Oven glass spontaneously exploded I bought this range approximately three years ago. We take excellent care of our appliances and since there is only the two of us, we do not use the oven as much as a family would. On 6/13/21 I was baking a pizza at 375 degrees in the oven. I had just looked into the oven through the glass to check on the pizza. I turned away and went to the sink when I heard an explosion and felt something hit me in the legs. I looked and the outside tempered glass of the oven door had exploded and shattered. There were not any previous damage, cracks, dings, or strikes on the glass prior to this occurrence. Glass went all over our cat, who was app. Two feet from the oven eating her dinner. She was not injured but did have glass all in her fur. We found glass as far as 8 ft away. I called Frigidaire customer service first thing this morning and was told that there weren’t any previous complaints on this type of occurrence nor were there any recalls so the best she could do was give me a discount on the replacement glass and send a tech out to install it at my expense. I asked to speak to a manager at this point and was eventually sent to a problem resolution specialist who basically told me the same thing. It was obvious they were following a script, and were only there to deflect any sort of complaint and simply offer the bare minimum. In fact when I told them that it was lucky that no one had their face near the glass and that there would have been a totally different conversation of myself or one of my family members such as my granddaughter had the glass explode in their face resulting in permanent injury the problem resolution person agrees that then the liability department would have handled it and since this was a hypothetical situation (even though I had just had my face in front of the glass no more than three minutes prior to the explosion of glass) there was nothing else they could offer. I told her that it was unreasonable and poor service on the part of Frigidaire to not offer at minimum the replacement part and installation for free due to the circumstances. This situation is not like an electrical issue, or an element going out. This was obviously a flaw in the glass that finally gave out. She said flaws would show up in one to two years of service. I said that might be for someone who used their oven much more than we do. I am absolutely disappointed, not in the ladies I spoke to as they are only doing their job, but in the overall response to this situation. I have purchased Frigidaire appliances in the past and will no longer purchase any nor will I recommend them. I asked the last lady in problem resolution for her manager and she said they weren’t available and would call me in one or two business days. This is also totally unacceptable. I am beyond disappointed and frustrated. Something that could have been resolved easily by sending glass free of charge and installing free of charge that would have made for a happy lifetime customer who would spread the word to other potential customers instead created a frustrated, unhappy customer who will never buy another Frigidaire or Electrolux product.

     While checking on cooking process oven rack slipped off support ledge on RH side. This has happened several times. First time ~2 years ago cooking a meat roast. Rack slipped off, grease spilled into gas burner, grease catches fire. Luckily fire extinguished when oven door was closed. There were maybe a couple of other times that were without significant effect. Most recent occurred while baking Mexican Flan. While pulling rack out it dropped off RH support, spilling cream and sugar ingredients into oven. After rearranging things and restarting baking of flan. Heavy smoke was emitted from oven, as could be expected. Luckily exhaust vent over oven was able to handle it for the most part.

     fridgidaire electric cooktop left front stove burner heated up on its own to the highest setting while knob was turned to the OFF position and began burning and smoldering a platter that was touching it. This control knob and burner had NEVER been turned on or used AT ALL during the day at anytime and spontaneously came on by itself and began heating up. The burner was red hot in color as seen in the attached video. All other burners that were used earlier in the evening were turned to off as well. My family was finishing dinner in another room when we began to smell smoke and realized to our surprise the burner was heating to full blast and the platter was smoldering and smoking. After trying frantically to turn the burner off with knob with NO success, my husband turned the power to the stove off at the breaker. Had my husband and I left to take a walk right after dinner as we often do, this burner would have started a fire in our kitchen in only a few more minutes and caught my house on fire. My kids who would have been upstairs would have had no reason to have any idea something like this could occur, nor would we and they could have been seriously injured in a house fire caused by this burner that turned on spontaneously by itself. This is a serious fire hazard that could have resulted in serious potential injury and should be completely recalled. Especially since this exact same issue happened several years ago to us with the same exact stove and the manufacturer sent up the “repair kit” which was installed. I would have never thought it could possibly happen again as I thought the “repair kit” fixed any potential future issues. This level of serious risk is unacceptable to have with a home appliance.

     What happened that made you want to report?

     The glass door on my Frigidaire oven spontaneously exploded. This is not normal wear and tear, this must be a factory defect. A quick online search shows hundreds of reports of exploding glass oven doors nationwide. I also found investigative TV reports and a website (classaction.org) collecting information for a potential class action lawsuit. There is clearly a problem here.

     The night this happened, I mixed up cookie dough, pushed the button to turn on my oven, and heard a loud explosion. Then I heard glass shattering. The entire exterior glass door on my oven shattered next to my legs. I was in a dress, and had no protection for my legs, but was at least wearing socks. (Obviously I didn’t move.)

     Both my husband and college aged son heard the loud bang, followed by me screaming, and thought I had fallen. My husband was upstairs, my son was downstairs, and I was on the main level. The explosion was loud enough for both of them to hear it on a different floor.

     Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product?

     I slowly backed away while my husband swept the glass up. I could feel tiny pieces of glass in arms and legs, so showered and carefully dried off with a heavy towel. I am also a cardiac patient, and the shock triggered a heart episode for me. However, I was able to manage it with no damage to my heart.

     Fall 2020: The range controls started flashing on the front and the oven would not turn on.

     The consumer called a local distributor who sell a wide range of parts of ovens/ranges. That company’s rep. told her that they did not have parts.

     The consumer called a manufacturer’s authorized distributor and was also told that they did not have any parts for her range/oven.

     She called the brand name company directly and spoke with a rep. (name unknown). That rep. also told her that they no longer make parts for the range. The consumer asked what she was supposed to do and she said that the rep. told her to buy a new stove.

     The consumer has experience problems with the oven and the range burners.

     The range burners stopped working and the range control light would not turn off. The oven would not turn sometimes and other times it would not turn off. Even though the oven could be turned off, the temperature felt like it was heating up. The consumer trips the breaker to ensure that it is off.
