A family member was using the range and then heard a zap and the power completely went out on just the range, they pulled the range out and there was a burn mark on my wall located behind the range that is consistent with the burn mark on the range on the plate covering the electric components. He immediately unplugged the range to ensure an electrical fire did not occur.

The product, in the report: Smoothtop range with oven Date manufactured Nov 2015

(Approx…2015): The consumer called the manufacturer after receiving information about a recall. He said the firm sent him a strip of tape to apply to the product. The concern was that steam from the oven could get into the electrical components/control and cause it to malfunction.
The consumer is not sure of the purchase date but believes that he may have purchased it shortly after the CPSC Recall# 09-333, and the product may have been made during the time frame listed in the CPSC Recall.
(6/2024): The consumer received a letter in the mail for Recall# 24-235. He responded and their rep. told him that they would pay him $50 to haul the product away.
The consumer said that the manufacturer should provide a more substantial resolution, considering the safety hazards this product presents.
One of the smaller burners on his range also no longer works. When he called the firm about this matter, he was told that it would cost around $700 to fix the burner and that was not worth it.
The consumer is on a fixed income and this recall does not offer any real assistance to him.
To Whom This May Concern:
My statement about the date of receiving the recall notice must have been later than my earlier recollection, because the date of manufacture appears to be November of 2015. According to the Frigidaire representative that I talked to on the phone, there is a solid state panel containing circuit boards housed in a patrician between the back oven wall and the rear wall of the range.
The issue was that the vented moisture was migrating into the electronic panel and causing failure to the temperature controllers. Indeed he sent me a roll of aluminum duct sealer tape, which I was instructed to apply to all joints where the moisture was being vented to the ambient air in the kitchen, which I completed as instructed.
After my retirement, we decided to update our home to be more elderly friendly, meaning that we installed new kitchen cabinets with 100% roll out shelves for easy access to contents. At that time we purchased high quality appliances, dishwasher, smooth toped range and refrigerator. Knowing that our income would be drastically reduced, we purchased top of the line equipment to last us through our elder years!
This safety recall notice which we received a depreciated value refund of $50. In the form of an electronic gift card and a reimbursement of up to $60.00 for the haul-away of the old range.
This is not acceptable to us, as we are not able to replace the range, on our very tight income along with health issues that we have to pay for ongoing.
I believe that this company’s engineers designed a faulty piece of equipment and as such should be required to make it safe for owners or replace it, at no additional cost to the customer. Frigidaire knew back in 2009 that their design was a real problem, yet continued to build their ranges without making necessary changes to eliminate this faulty design.

I was baking a loaf of sourdough bread in my Frigidaire electric range oven. I went to open the door to take my bread out, and the outer glass exploded, shattering all over my kitchen. I am the homeowner and the range is less than 5 years old. No injuries occurred at the time but I was wearing open toe shoes (flip flops) and glass was everywhere. My dog also ran into the kitchen right through the glass to see what had happened. I haven’t found any glass in his paws as of yet.

Caller stated that she experienced similar problems as the recall#24:235 Hazard: Depending on the model, the surface heating elements can: 1) turn on spontaneously without being switched on; 2) fail to turn off after being switched off; or 3) heat to different temperatures than selected. This poses fire and burn hazards to consumers. Caller stated that the range came on by itself and would not turn off, she had to move the unit from the wall and unplugged it to prevent a fire. Caller feels that this range is a fire hazard and should be included in a recall.

The consumer indicates that the top of her oven range door gets extremely hot to the touch as well as the front-facing metal piece. Even after the unit is turned off for ten minutes, the unit cannot be touched; the consumer has burned her fingers multiple times because of how hot it gets.
The consumer notes that the cooktop also heats irregularly.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; a service technician was dispatched and, upon inspection, her thermostat had a 140-degree reading on the oven door after being on for ten minutes at 425 degrees. Unsure how to proceed, the service technician said he would send another representative in two weeks to see if the problem persists. 06/04/2024 - The new technician took the oven door temperature and his thermostat read 130-degrees after being on for ten minutes as well however he stated that there are no industry standards for how hot an oven door can get and that there was nothing he could do about it.
The consumer states that the cooktop is used daily approximately two to three times whereas the oven is used maybe twice weekly.
The consumer is unsure if she will keep her oven range for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

Hello. I have identified an electrical hazard with the Frigidaire Electric Range Model FGEF3036TFH.
See attached photos.
The Indicator Light Lens cover, which also holds the indicator light in place, broke. After the indicator light was released after the break, the electrical connections of the indicator light came in contact with the metal backing of the control panel. An electrical short (arc) was caused when the heating element switch was turned on. Sparks occurred at this time from the back of the control panel. This arc blew up the heating element switch.

While I was cooking (oven temp 400 degrees) A child in my home opened the storage drawer under the oven, fell forward pinning her arm in the drawer and received second and third degree burns to her arm and hand. Since there are no warning labels on or inside the drawer, I did not realize the the inside of the drawer gets hot. ( I store my oven mitts inside). This drawer is easily opened and at the right level for babies and toddlers. The drawer should contain a warning label.

A couple of weeks turned off my electric range. There are small buttons that light up when the burners/stove ON. A little bit passed and I noticed that the small button was still lit up as ON. There were no burners ON...nor the oven. After a couple of hours passed and it was still lit up and there was a slight warmth from one of the large burners while all the other burners were cold to the touch. I flipped my breaker to see if this would clear it. It did not. So I am now keeping my breaker turned OFF until this issue can be figured out and resolved.

The large surface unit on my Frigidaire range comes on without being turned on. It often fails to go off when the switch is turned off. I tried to have it repaired by an appliance technician but without success. So, I would turn the range off from the home breaker box. The serial number looks like NF42123807 and the model number looks like FGEF306TMFF. I purchased the range in 2014. I have had food in pots that burned because the heat setting could not be controlled before I realized the problem. There were no injuries, but the potential existed because other members of my household used the range. I put tape over the switch for that surface unit to discourage others from using it.

This incident occurred during a late dinner in our kitchen, with my wife cleaning up the dishes at the sink. Without warning, the outer oven door window on our electric range spontaneous disintegrated with a shattering noise, breaking into many small pieces. The unit is a Frigidaire Electric Range FGEF3042KFC, and was not in use at the time. The oven was last used for baking on the previous day (~30 hours earlier). No injuries resulted in this situation, however we are very concerned that this could have resulted in serious harm, had one of our grandchildren had been near the stove when this occured.

When our Frigidaire electric range (purchased in October 2021) was not in use, the exterior oven glass exploded and shattered all over our kitchen floor. Until this point, we had no issues with the range whatsoever. While in our possession, the glass showed no signs of damage and experienced no impacts or bumps. We have three young children and two dogs. We were all nearby but out of range of the exploding glass shards. It was extremely surprising to witness the explosion. No one was injured. I can imagine the situation being very bad if someone (especially a child) is peering into the oven through the glass or standing anywhere near the oven cooking or doing dishes, etc. when this event occurs. Shards of glass could easily be shot into eyes, mouth, and other sensitive areas.

My electric range stove caught a fire while cooking on the top burners. The front left burner got extremely hot, so I turned the knob off but the burner was still red, indicating that it was on. The knob started smoking and I saw fire lighting from the back inside of the stove. I pulled the stove from the wall and saw the wires burning and a fire started. My frigidaire range stove beeps continously throughout the day and occassionally goes crazy with beeping and an error message FO 11Err, and I must press ‘off’ for this particular beeping to stop. I had someone come change the control panel twice within the warranty period and now it is happening again, but even worse. The stove will turn on all by itself, pre heat, change the time, self clean...very scary. When I leave for extended periods of time I have to unplug the stove for fear it will turn on by itself and burn the house down.

I purchased a Frigidaire Model FCFE3083AS Electric Range from Home Depot which was delivered on Jan 6, 2024. We have been using it without incident since it was installed. Yesterday, I was baking a ham in the oven. The temperature was set to 350 degrees. I put the ham in the over at about 12:00. At about 2:30, the interior glass to the oven door shattered and showered glass all over the inside of the oven. My wife imeediately shut the oven off, and after it cooled, vacuumed up the glass. There were no injuries, but there could have been if someone had been in the kitchen or checking the oven at the time the glass shattered.

The outer glass in the door of my Frigidaire oven exploded. I has just used the oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees, turned off the oven, and about 15 minutes later, the glass exploded. My 2 year old daughter was just in front of the oven about 15 minutes before this occurred. We cleaned up the glass, but are still finding pieces, and my husband has since stepped on a small piece of glass which he was able to remove.

Frigidaire (Electrolux) electric range outer glass door exploded while not in use. Glass shattered and scattered across kitchen floor. Luckily I was not in the kitchen when it happened. Clean up was dangerous as tiny shards of glass where inside the oven, scattered 3-5 feet and continue to be found days later.

I would like to make a report about the outer glass on my Frigidaire FFEF3054TSP Electric Range shattering. My oven had been on for about 45 minutes at 250 degrees Fahrenheit. I had taken my item out of the oven, placed it on top of the stove, and closed the oven door when the glass shattered. Our oven is about two years old so it is out of warranty. We live in an apartment complex where the range is included, and they usually keep extra appliances on hand in case something needs replacing. So our oven is two years old to us, but it is unclear how long they have had the oven itself. There were no injuries other than a few cuts from the glass, as I was standing a few feet within the oven.

I own a Frigidaire electric oven. Serial number:VF11213600 Model number: FFEF3054TSP On Tuesday January 30th, 2024 I (31 year old woman) was in my kitchen and preheated my oven to 425 degrees which Ive done many times before. Once preheated I placed my bread pan into the oven, closed the oven door, and set a timer for 25minutes. My 3 year old daughter and I then went outside to play in the yard. After 25minutes we came back inside, I opened the oven door and I took the cover off my bread pan. Once the cover was off I closed the oven door and set a timer for 10 minutes so my bread could continue to bake. My daughter and I went back outside to play in the yard. Once the 10 minute timer was done, we came back inside. When we got into the kitchen I saw that the front glass panel of my oven door had shattered and exploded glass shards all over the kitchen floor. I immediately shut the oven off, got my daughter somewhere safe and started inspecting the area. The force at which the glass shattered was evident because I found glass shards on my counter tops and dinner room table. Once I took a picture of the oven and glass all over my kitchen floor; I began to clean up. I am reporting this because I [REDACTED] my specific model and found reviews on home depot where this exact thing has happened to other people who own this exact oven. In some cases the oven wasnt even on. This is extremely dangerous. I have a 3 year old daughter and we love to bake together. She also loves to watch our baked goods through the oven window as they bake. I keep thanking God we went back outside to play. If her little face would have been by that glass door watching our bread bake when it exploded she would have been severely injured. I have called Frigidaire and made a complaint but they didnt seem to be concerned.

My wife was in the kitchen with her mother when the exterior glass to our above-referenced oven/range spontaneously exploded with a loud bang. Glass shattered all over the kitchen floor and surrounding area. The oven was on at the time of the explosion--heating to around 300 degrees. We did our best to clean the glass and continue to avoid walking barefoot in the area to limit the possibility of cuts. Other than cuts to our feet during the cleanup, major physical injuries were avoided because nobody was standing immediately in front of the range when it exploded.

I have reached-out to Frigidaire in the past.
After many threats, they replaced the original cooktop (~$1,300.00), which was turning itself on and eventually caught fire. They chose NOT to collect the unit that turned itself on and caught fire.
It cost me ~$400 to have a wider cut-out created in my quartz countertop to accommodate the replacement cooktop.
The replacement then did the same thing; turned itself on and caught fire. Many more contacts ensued with Frigidaire telling me to contract for service and pay the bill, but they would give me 20% off of parts. I had the cooktop analyzed, informing Frigidaire the FMEA found:
“The component potentiometers for your dual-burners have faulty, potentiometers with traces which, literally, corrode-away causing the dangerous failure in the performance of your cooktops”
Frigidaire took no action, so I ordered parts and had the cooktop repaired. This cost me ~$700.
Now the same thing has happened - this company KNOWS these units are catching fire, knows the burners turn themselves on “high,” while unattended; this time a nearby towel went up in flames! My house has been filled with toxic fumes, four times, now.
It is unacceptable that this company sells these dangerous units; declaring they have zero responsibility once the limited warranty period expires! I still have an >30 year old [REDACTED] cooktop installed in my home; it has never turned itself on nor caught fire...

This is an induction unit with capacitive-touch buttons. Burners are turning themselves on randomly, sometimes while the stove was unattended. We are not leaving any cookware on it unattended because it is clearly a major fire hazard otherwise. When it doesn’t turn on randomly, it works great (99.99% of the time).
The first time this happened on around November 15th, I was standing near the range and heard a single beep, and both right burners turned on spontaneously to power setting 8. Luckily I was standing right there and turned them both off.
The second time on November 30th, my girlfriend was cooking dinner. She started pasta boiling on the front right burner, and went to the bathroom. She came back to BOTH right hand burners on, and the rear right burner at power 7, and the front right (pasta) burner had changed itself from P to 4. This scalded and warped a cast iron pan on the rear right burner and filled the house with smoke. I happened to come home at this point, and witnessed her turn both burners off and attempt to turn back on the pasta burner. The pasta burner would not turn on and instead showed an error message.
Since then, the stove has turned the burners on to random power settings on its own multiple times. Power setting “8” is the most common, but other power settings also occur.
This induction range is likely capable of turning a cast iron pan into liquid metal in under 15 minutes at the highest power setting.
Frigidaire has been extremely unresponsive to fixing this stove. To date, I have called Frigidaire customer service 4 times and emailed twice over the course of 6 weeks. Each call I have been promised a call back within specific time frames. To date, I have not received a single call or email back from Frigidaire besides an automated “we received your email” message.

My Frigidaire oven model LFEF3054TFK made a very loud pop like a gunshot on the evening of 12/7/23 after being off for 15-20 minutes. They were some very small sharp shards that took a while to find and clean up.

12/3/2023: The oven door’s glass shattered spontaneously, while the range and oven were in the off position. The oven had been used for an hour on the day of the incident, but it was in the “off” position for approximately 20 minutes of so, at the time of the incident.
The exterior glass window broke, but the interior glass remained intact. The glass shot out a few feet from the oven. The oven did have safety glass and they broke into shards of pebbles.
There were no injuries.
12/4/2023: The consumer called the manufacturer, but could not get a live person.
The consumer and her son searched the Internet and saw numerous reports and news stories, where the glass exploded on this brand of oven doors. In some of the stories she read, the oven had not been used that day. However, some of the pictures and interviews that she saw, were almost identical to hers

Outer layer of oven door glass randomly exploded. Oven was cold, been off for at least 2 hours, stovetop had not been used in over 12 hours.
UPDATED ON 12/6/2023: [I apologize for not including this originally but I did not see it on the form so I hope this is what you need to know:
The glass on the burst out, shattering everywhere, while I was standing in front of it. I could have been cut. My children could have been cut. If my youngest had been in the room, glass could have gotten in her eyes. If the oven had been on, the broken glass could have also caused burns. Despite with Electrolux/Frigidaire has said in news reports I have read, the glass did NOT shatter into pieces with rounded edges, which can be seen if you zoom in on the picture. ]

I bought a Frigidaire glass top stove in 2019. I always took good care of my stove. Then in 2021 while baking something the oven glass door shattered. It was under warranty at the time so the glass was replaced. This happened again 2 years later in November 2023. This is very dangerous. There’s always a loud sound first and then the glass shatters in a million pieces. I do not slam the door or use the door to push in the oven racks. I called Frigidaire and I was told they did not know when they would have the part in and it was a week away from Thanksgiving!! Frigidaire electric glass top stoves are horrible!!

Would turn the stove off/on without any human interaction, this would include 400’ in the middle of the night!! Would also readjust cooking times and cooking temps while in use by said humans. Summer-2023: The right front burner came on and could not be turned off. The consumer tired the control, but it did not work. She ended up tripping the breaker for the range.
A local technician came out removed the front of the range and examined the wires. He tried to duplicate the problem, but could not. The technician told the consumer and said he could not disconnect that one burner, but would have to replace the entire control board. He called the consumer later and said the board was no longer made and he could not find one. He advised the consumer that if the problem happened again, not to leave home without tripping the breaker.
10/31/2023: The problem occurred with same front right burner. The consumer could not turn off the burner and had to trip the breaker. She stopped by the local service center and sent them pictures of the issue. The rep. asked her to ensure that the breaker was tripped for it.
The consumer will contact the manufacturer again.
I contacted Frigidaire, spoke with {REDACTED], he wouldn’t let me complete my explanation kept repeating over and over “no recall, no recall,’ no problem” I asked how do you know for sure if won’t let me give you model/serial etc _ repeated “no problem no recall + hung up!

On the afternoon of Wednesday 10/11/2023, the Frigidaire electric range we purchased from Lowe’s in Richmond, Kentucky in April 2022 abruptly quit working and and “went dark” (i.e., control panel went out, burners and oven would not turn on) when I turned on a burner the stove top on to boil water for tea. When I went downstairs to the basement to check the electrical panel---where both breakers for the stove had flipped---I heard a tinkling sound upstairs that sounded like glass breaking. When I returned to the kitchen, I found that the outside glass panel to the oven door had shattered into hundreds of small sharp pieces which were scattered on the kitchen floor and inside the drawer under the electric range.

We had a Frigidaire stove, serial no. VF51855576, model no. LGEF3045KFK, that had issues with the motherboard catching on fire twice. First incident was January 2022. Using the stove normal and the control board went out. When taken apart it was apparent that it had got hot and the wires were burnt. That was replaced on Jan.14, 2022. The part was 221.99. In August 23 of 2023, the control board went out again. Same situation as in January 2022. This time the incident just lead us to purchase a new stove. Obviously something is faulty with the stove as to why the control board keeps catching on fire and going out. This control board was going to cost 283.39 to replace. We just purchased a new stove to be on the safe side. The stove could of caused a house fire both times. How it did not is a blessing.

The outer glass on my 2017 Frigidaire oven, model LFEF3054TFC, exploded for no apparent reason. I put a pot of water on the top left burner and set the temp to 4 on the dial. A minute later, if that, I went to a room on our second floor to get my cellphone. When I got to the top of our steps I heard a loud exploding sound. I ran down to the kitchen and there was glass all over the place. When I looked at the oven door at least 75 percent of the outer glass was blown out. New electric Frigidaire Range (Model FGEH3047VD, Serial # VF20602738) starts on it own at all times of day and night to heat oven, pre-heat oven, and self-clean (very high temperature). It happens when the stove is being used and also when it hasn’t been used for several hours. A certified technician from Frigidaire came out three times to fix the issue and it is not resolved. Control Board was replaced. Frigidaire blames the issue on “fluctuating voltage” but never measured voltage since power to house was turned off for safety issues when repair was being made. It is a continuous issue (not just one date). A Home Inspection was completed in 2022 and the home electrical passed inspection.

The consumer was cooking on the front burner and placed her hand on the white surface of the stove and it was extremely hot to the touch. If she had children, this would be more hazardous. As a result of this problem, the consumer now only uses the rear burners.
The consumer has called the manufacturer on numerous occasions to report this issue. She never received a return call, unless she called them back.
She has been told that the manufacturer has been working with the retailer.
The consumer said that she has spoken to other people that have similar ranges, made by this mfr.
8/9/2023: She purchased a thermometer and measured the temperature on the surface of the range, when one of the front burners were in use. The temperature was between 200 – 245 degrees in the top center of the range.
The consumer spoke with the manufacturer, and she said a representative (name unavailable) agreed with her that this is a safety issue. She also believes that there should be warnings that all surfaces are hot. Originally, the manufacturer rep. offered her a replacement, but the dealer never received anything from the mfr. The consumer’s matter was sent to the manufacturer’s Escalations Department. The consumer said that the manufacturer also mentioned providing her with a refund, but that information was not provided to the dealer.
The consume also believes that a person, who is obese and reaching over to turn the back control knobs, could be at higher risk of burn hazards.

While baking, my oven was set to 350 for approx 10 minutes. Suddenly I heard the sound of glass exploding. I ran to investigate and slid on the glass slicing my feet up. At the time I wasn’t sure what had happened. Immediately following, my young son came into the kitchen and i ran back through the glass cutting my feet more to grab him before he could step in it also. While I did not seek medical attention, I was picking shards of glass out of my feet for a couple days. The outer glass from my oven exploded causing sharp glass to land all over my kitchen and as far as my formal dining room. Before this we have had no issues with the unit.

The product, in the report: This is a Frigidaire glass top electric range with self cleaning oven. It’s the quick bake convection oven and smudge proof stainless steel. I bought it from Home Depot and had it delivered in the beginning of 2017. I purchased it as a “bundle” with other appliances and got a good deal. Unfortunately, the 5 year extended warranty I purchased was only good until the end of 2022. So I just missed the warranty cut-off to have this fixed or replaced at no cost.

My Frigidaire glass stove top, oven door just exploded! The outer glass just exploded and sent glass and glass dust all over my kitchen. The oven was not being used and hadn’t been used since the night before. The self cleaning setting has never been used. My adult daughter had just cooked some eggs in a pan on the stove top, and was luckily at the other end of the kitchen, with her back facing the oven when it happened. Otherwise, she could’ve got glass in her eyes, mouth, face, etc. and could’ve been injured very badly! We heard a loud boom, and what sounded like glass shattering clear at the other end of the house.

The product, in the report: 30” electric stainless-steel slide-in Frigidaire Gallery range

Several months ago, the right front knob of my range began “chirping” on and off if I bumped up against it while cleaning the cooktop. Then a few times I heard it “chirp” in the middle of the night all on its own. On two occasions, the burner connected to this knob turned on by itself while I was in the kitchen but nowhere near the range. Last month, I hired a certified Frigidaire/Electrolux repair service to diagnose the issue. After removing the front panel, the technician found no visible damage of the control circuitry to the knob/burner. However, when I asked for it to be replaced, the technician discovered that the part was no longer available. So now, I have a range that really concerns me and no way of repairing it. When we went out of town recently, we unplugged the range thinking it could pose a fire hazard in our home. If the parts to repair it are no longer available after only four years, the manufacturer should recall it and replace it. Period.

I recently purchased a Frigidaire 30 inch electric wall oven. It was installed in May 2023. On its first use the inside glass shattered as it was preheating. The oven temp was approximately 275-300 degrees. I immediately turned off the oven. We have been back and forth with customers service to no avail. Requested new door and getting conflicting stories (they have it, was shipped, on back order, etc)

The exterior window on our Frigidaire range exploded shortly after using the broil feature. Glass shattered all over the kitchen floor and made a large bang as it happened. Occurred as I was opening the oven door to take food out. Nothing knocked against the glass to cause this. Safety glass still has sharp edges. I’m not sure how safety glass is supposed to look as it breaks, though, so it may be normal. I could have possibly been injured had this happened while I was standing in front of the range a moment prior. No injury occurred.

I was using the Frigidaire electric range model FFEF3054TSF and I heard a loud pop. I started looking to see where it came from and I heard another pop sound and saw a flame burst up from behind the control panel on the right end of the range. I then pulled the stove away from the wall, and unplugged it. There was a dark circular soot mark on the tile wall behind where the flame was. I also could clearly see that there were bare wires inside the control unit that were touching the back panel of the unit. I contacted Frigidaire on the website and used the CONTACT Chat option to explain what happened to a representative there. I told her about the incident and asked for a remedy, and I specifically asked her Three Times if the company had a Recall OR if it was known about this defect. Each time she ignored my question and said that because the range was out of warranty’ she could only refer me to a repair service for me to pay to have it fixed myself. I have attached a copy of the transcript of the Chat conversation I had with Frigidaire’s representative showing that she ignored my questions about the recall and/or whether it was a known defect.

Frigidaire oven glass door shattered randomly. The oven nor stove top were not being used at the time. I was standing in middle of my kitchen and heard a loud pop. I turned around and my oven door glass was shattered and all over my kitchen floor. Glass hit myself, my spouse, and my dog. No injuries occurred thankfully. I have researched this particular brand and model and came across hundreds of other complaints stating the same issue had happened to them. Seems to be with this particular model itself.

My Frigidaire stove top eye will not turn down when I turn down the temp on the knob. The heat source will not turn off automatically like it should. It will turn off when I turn the knob to the off position. I’ve also had the knob control cause smoke to come out from behind it. I’ve had to quit using 3 of the eyes because of smoking. I have one last eye, the one that won’t turn down, left that has only smoked once so far.
