Hearth Record

Nursing homes

Every nursing home Medicare or Medicaid certifies, from CMS: what inspectors found, its staffing, fines and star ratings, and who owns it.

14,800 nursing homes on the record, in 53 states. From CMS’s monthly release of Oct 8, 2026.

What the count covers

The 14,800 nursing homes in CMS’s Provider Information file: every one Medicare or Medicaid certifies. Nursing homes a state licenses but CMS doesn’t certify, which take only private pay, aren’t in it; a few states’ lists of them are being added.
