The reports, as CPSC published them
Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.
Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Electric Stove/Oven Model: FEFL78CBC
Frigidaire Electric Stove/Oven. While using the baking function, there was a loud POP, and then another POP and then the power went out in the entire home. The internal house breaker did its job by popping, but after resetting it, power was still out. I checked the main external house breaker, and it had Popped! So, I reset it and power was restored.
Upon investigation online, I found hundreds of people that had the same problem. The ECB board, part number 316207529 blew! Inspecting the ECB, I found (as most other people) found black burn marks in between the two circuit boards that make up the ECB. Not only is this dangerous whenever a electrical device causes a 240 circuit breaker to Pop, it seems that this is quite a common occurrence.
Why hasn’t there been a recall for this stove/oven? My Model number for the stove/oven is:FEFL78CBC
Plus the replacement part is selling for between $100-$250! With the average being toward the $175 range. This is about 33%-50% of what a new stove/oven costs! A complete rip off. Its looks to me that Frigidaire is making $$$ off of selling replacements for a DEFECTIVE part that they should be responsible for.
Aloha and be well, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Smoothtop Electric Range
(7/30/16) The consumer came home and noticed that the range was not displaying the time. The consumer checked the fuse box and noticed that the fuse was blown. The consumer switched the fuse back on. Approximately 5 minutes later the consumer heard a loud pop noise and noticed sparks coming from underneath the range. The consumer ran downstairs to shut off the circuit breaker. The consumer waited for an hour to make sure the range did not catch on fire. The consumer states that she could not pull out the range.
(7/31/16) The consumer contacted a friend to come and pull out the range. The consumer states that she unplugged the range. The consumer noticed that the cord was melted a hole near the middle.
The consumer states that the last time she used the stove top was on 7/28/16 and the last time she used the oven was on 7/21/16 (estimated). The consumer states that she uses the range once a week. There are no prior incidents.
(8/1/16) The consumer contacted hhgreg to get assistance through her extended warranty. The consumer was advised that someone will call her in 1-2 business days to arrange for a technician to go out and inspect her range. The consumer would like a replacement and was advised that the technician would have to determine whether the range will be repaired or replaced.
The consumer then called the firm’s recall hotline (888-360-8556) and the Rep. (name unknown) informed her that they could not assist her since the range was not part of recall # 09-333. The consumer was then transferred to the firm’s main customer service department but the consumer states the prompt indicated that the wait time was longer than usual so she hung up.
The consumer will take pictures and send them to clearinghouse@cpsc.gov to have it attached to her report.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Electrolux ELECTRIC COOK-TOP RANGE Model No. FEC30S6A BF
Frigidaire Electrolux ELECTRIC COOK-TOP RANGE Model No.FEC30S6A, the burner remains on after turning the switch to the off position. The burner remains glowing red at the Hi setting and you can confirm that the switch is set to the off position. Certainly a fire hazard. I contacted Frigidaire Electrolux 07/07/16 and they advised there is no recall or service flash for this issue. I searched the internet and there clearly is a problem since other consumers are reporting the very same issue.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire / Electrolux PLES389ECH Stove/Oven
Here is a copy of my letter sent to the manufacturer on 5-15-2015 ------------------ First let me say that I love my stove . . . it’s a great product. However, I must alert your company to what I consider a design flaw as I have noticed that if I happen to brush-by the stove or ever-so-slightly bump into the controls for the burners they sometimes have turned-on. If this had only happened one time then I would certainly think “operator error” however it has happened to me 3 times now which causes concern. My daughter and son-in-law happen to have the same model so I mentioned it to them and they too have had this happen more than once. Common sense would dictate that a consumer would NEVER, I mean NEVER put anything on top of a stove other than intended pots and pans. However in our space-saving world of maximizing every square inch of a home, reality suggests that when someone comes back from the grocery store that just may happen. With this information I feel that a responsible company must investigate how many residential home fires have happened with your stove present. Further, were there any injuries or deaths? And am I an isolated case; I think not as I only know two people who have this product and 100% or us or both of us have had this issue. Now back to my original point of loving your product, as a suggested design modification, I’d keep this wonderful design however I’d simply add a BEEP when a burner is turned in the on position . . . that would alert someone that the burner has turned on either on purpose or accidentally. You may wish to ask other owners if they have had this issue or send-out a notification to current users as well. I don’t see the need for an all-out recall of the product but that’s certainly not my call. Thank you for taking time to read this email. I hope my information you will deem useful and pertinent. I’ll keep a copy of this email as documentation that I did notify your company of a potential issue and I look forward to hearing back from you. [REDACTED]

Customer Information Message = The rear burner kept turning on by itself yesterday. I had to leave it unplugged as it just got worse. It would go from high to 5 to 2.2, there was no off position, so there was no way to shut it off except unplugging it. I see there were recalls on this stove. The product, in the report: Black Frigedaire Gallery Range
Our Frigedaire LGEF3045KFH Range caught on fire. We had smelled an odor for about a month when using the oven but thought it was a spill. The fire started in the wiring behind the stove. I was lucky to be in the kitchen with my wife. I was able to turn off the power and use a fire extinguisher. Other than some cleaning and the stove there was no damage.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Electric Range Model #FPEF3081KFB Serial #VF00271832
The back side of my Frigidaire Electric Range started on fire. I was using the oven at about 325 when I smelled plastic burning. I then immediately heard a high pitched notice and an small explosion, there was fire shooting from the back of my Frigidaire oven. I was not using the cooktop, only the oven. I was lucky I was sitting with clear site into the kitchen when this happened! I had to call the Fire Department. I was lucky my family was not injured or killed! Frigidaire refuses to do anything about this range stating that it is not in warranty. This is a dangerous product!! Model #FPEF3081KFB, Serial #VF00271832. The real travesty about this incident is that this was a replacement oven for a previous Frigidaire range which also caught on fire in the same manner. I have an upgraded breaker box so that is not the issue. I wish to report this dangerous product!!!

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Range with glass top and double glass door used in consumer home environment. Model number and serial number are included below. According to Lowe’s Hardware Credit Card records we purchased this unit new in their Mooresville, NC store on 11/02/2005 under Invoice Number [REDACTED]. Manufacture year according to Figidaire was 2005. I did not record the month of manufacture but believe it was October. Prior to the incident reported here this unit has not been damaged or altered in any way since we purchased it new and has been used only at our home address in a non-commercial manner.
This incident involved a Frigidaire range/oven with glass top and double glass door used in a consumer home environment. The oven had been in use at a baking temperature of 400 degrees approximately 30 to 45 minutes prior to the incident. After having dinner my wife and I were in our living room when we heard what sounded like a stack of plates hitting the kitchen tile floor followed by the sound of shattering glass. When we entered the kitchenit was obvious the outer glass of the oven door had exploded outward. Broken glass was scattered across the floor and small patches still hung from the perimeter of the door opening. I have pictures of the incident to include with this report. I have talked at length with Frigidaire/Electrolux customer service and they have refused to even provide a no charge service call to determine if this incident is related to manufacture because my product is out of warranty. Initially I thought a call would be provided if I would contact Electrolux Service at 877-435-3287 to set it up. When I called and provided my Reference Number I was told it would cost $125 for the visit. I do not consider the standard product warranty to limit manufacturer liability for a catastrophic failure such as this. My Reference Number for this incident is [REDACTED] thru Electrolux Customer Service at 877-435-3287. I spoke with both [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] there.

The product, in the report: A white range with smooth stove top and a built in oven. The unit is manufactured by Frigidaire and is a crown model. (model FEFB65ASC).
The oven portion of the smooth top Frigidaire Crown (model FEFB65ASC) spontaneously came on by itself and would not shutoff with the button on the unit. The hazard was contained by de-energizing the entire unit by manually tripping the circuit breaker and removing the power source. Incident occurred during the day when home owner was nearby and alert (not sleeping); Otherwise, the incident could have caused structural damage or harm to personal health. I was notified by representative of Frigidaire at the 1-888-360-8556 that this defective unit was not part of an existing recall for models with similar issues.

My Fridgidaire smoothe top electric range turned its left front burner on by itself with no one near it. It could not be turned off and the stove had to be moved away from the wall and unplugged. No other burner was in use at the time and the incident was visualized by me, the owner from about 10 feet away as I was leaving the room and heard a “beep” from the stove. I turned around to see the burner begin to glow red and hot and the digital display read “high” although the knob controlling the burner remained in the off position.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery Smooth top Electric Range with Convection Oven - White
While preheating our Frigidaire Gallery Smooth top Electric Range ( Model #FGE3055MWD, Serial #VF32487149) at 4:00 pm, on Friday, March 4, 2016, to 400 degrees, in less than 2 minutes (did not even finish preheating ) we heard a sudden loud amp type noise then a louder pop and saw flames burst in the oven.
The flames filled the oven and were seen through the glass window of the oven door. We feared that the flames were going to crack the glass window of the oven door and spread throughout the kitchen. But before we could call the Fire Department, the 220 line tripped off and the flames slowly began to diminish in the oven. We did not open the oven door, but smoke and a burning smell filled our home. To be safe we also unplugged the oven.
**See Attached Sheet with complete Incident Report information and a copy of the sales receipt.
Currently, we own a Frigidaire Gallery Smooth top Electric Range Oven. On Friday, March 4, 2016 at 4:00pm, while preheating the oven, we heard a sudden loud amp type noise then a louder pop and saw flames burst in the oven. The incident happened 2 minutes after turning the oven on (did not even finish preheating).
To be safe we also unplugged the stove.
It was a miracle that no one was burnt and the kitchen walls were fine. A family member was just about to place a cookie sheet in the oven. If they had just a minute prior, they would have been severely burnt as they opened the oven door when the flames burst.
After several minutes I called B & B Appliance where we had purchased our range on June 30, 2013, and spoke to [REDACTED] about our oven fire in our Frigidaire Range (Model # FGEF3055MWD, Serial# VF32487149) to see if they could help us. [REDACTED] at B & B Appliance referred us to Frigidaire Customer Service (888 451-7007) and told us to call her back on Monday morning and let her know what happens.
I immediately called the Frigidaire Customer Service Representative and was told by [REDACTED], that there was nothing they could do for us because there was no extended warranty and no recall on our specific Frigidaire model. I was asked if I would like to purchase a one-year warranty on the rang, but the new warranty would not cover the previous fire.
I explained that the extended warranty should not apply to a defective Frigidaire range.
But I was told that if I wanted Frigidaire to sent a repairman to check out our faulty range that we would be responsible for the total cost of the service call and repair.
I told them that I did not want a defective range repaired that had a severe electrical fire, only inspected and service fee covered by Frigidaire so that they could document the fire in their Frigidaire Gallery Smooth top Electric Range Series and warn other consumers who own this specific model of the potentialdanger of an electrical fire.
I got nowhere.
On Monday, March 7, 2016 I called B & B {216 261-5600) and asked for [REDACTED] but my call was taken by sales representative, [REDACTED], and was told that there was nothing that they could do since the range is over a year old, but he could file a report with Frigidaire. In our telephone conversation he stated, “I was aware of a problem with the heating element in Frigidaire electric ovens. (This information was never disclosed when my husband and I were purchasing a Frigidaire range from B & B Appliance.) I will call Frigidaire for you and see what I could do.”
On Tuesday morning, at 9:00am, [REDACTED] called me at home and said, “I opened a file# [REDACTED] on your model with Frigidaire Customer Service and without an extended warranty, you are responsible for all service calls and repairs.”
I again called Frigidaire Customer Service and spoke with [REDACTED] with the hope of getting our oven inspected without a service fee, but she refused to take responsibility for building and manufacturing a faulty product and not caring about the electrical fire hazard and safety and wellbeing of their customers. I was unable to speak with her supervisor or anyone else regarding this matter.
After researching Frigidaire ranges after our fire, I found below a link with reviews of many consumers who have had the same dangerous problem with their Frigidaire ranges:
https://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/frigidaire range.html
I had no success with Frigidaire Customer Service (800 944-9044), just as all of the consumers at the above link have reported.
I would greatly appreciate your help with getting this problem of a manufactured defect resolved with our Frigidaire Gallery Range.
Respectfully submitted, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: electric range
(4/15/16) The consumer’s husband used the right front burner for about 15 minutes, at a heat level of 4. The consumer’s husband then turned the knob to the “Off” position but the burner failed to turn off and got even more red/ hotter. The consumer’s husband then shut off the circuit breaker. The consumer’s husband waited for about an hour and then he turned the circuit breaker back on. When the consumer’s husband walked back in the kitchen he noticed the right front burner was cherry red and noticed sparks under the glass and near the control panel. The consumer’s husband then pulled the range out from the wall and unplugged it.
(4/15/16) The consumer then searched online and came across recall # 09-333. The consumer confirmed that her model and serial # was included in the recall.
(4/18/16) The consumer contacted the firm’s recall hotline (888-360-8556) and informed the Rep. (name unknown) about the incident. The consumer was advised that the range was recalled and they would order the parts to repair the range (per the recall remedy). The consumer asked the Rep. if the firm would repair any other parts damaged from the incident and the Rep. told the consumer that they would not cover damages from the incident or anything outside the remedy. The consumer asked the Rep. why she was never notified about the recall and the Rep. said that they called the consumer to notify her about the recall. The consumer states this is a lie. The consumer said the next time she called the firm another Rep. (name unknown) said they sent the consumer a letter to notify her about the recall, however, the consumer said she never received a letter.
The consumer states that the parts arrived at her home on 4/26/16. The consumer states that the technician was supposed to arrive on 4/29/16 but they called to reschedule the repair to 5/2/16.
(5/2/16) The technician examined the range and conducted the repairs per the recall (repaired the switches and control unit). The technician advised the consumer that the dual heating element was damaged but that it was not covered under the recall and he could not repair it. The consumer called the firm and spoke with [REDACTED], a supervisor and she told the consumer that the technician is only authorized to conduct repairs under the recall. The consumer was advised that the technician would need to call the firm to explain the subsequent damages then get transferred to Support for further guidance. [REDACTED] told the consumer that the firm has not been covering any subsequent damages outside the recall.
The consumer said there are no prior incidents.
The consumers had to pay all damages to their stove because of what the recall caused when it “the stove” failed to turn off.
Frigidaire refused to reimburse the consumers of any of the over $400 they had to pay to repair the damages cause by the recall part. That’s a nice rip off scam Frigidaire has going on

The consumer indicated that she would have to turn the knob repeatedly to the “On” position then the “Off” position to finally get the burner to shut off. The consumer states this occurred every time she used the burner. The consumer has stopped using the front left burner.
(4/8/16) The consumer used the control panel to turn on the oven but after a few minutes the consumer noticed that the oven was not turning on. The consumer contacted a local company to have a technician inspect her range.
(4/12/16) The technician inspected the range and informed the consumer that the electrical component was not sending current to the heating element. The consumer was also advised not to use the left front burner because it was sending sparks.
The consumer uses both the stove top and oven daily.
The consumer plans to contact the firm.

(3/19/16) The consumer states that he was using the oven for about 3 hours on the bake setting and the oven was set at 450 degrees. The consumer states that the oven was turned off for a little while then the oven was turned back on and set to bake setting at 450 degrees. However, the consumer states that the oven did not heat to 450 degrees and it remained at 250 degrees. The consumer then turned off the oven and shut off the circuit breaker. The consumer pulled the range from the wall and he removed the cover panel so he could inspect the circuit breaker and the consumer noticed there was a burned wiring harness.
The consumer states that there was a similar incident that occurred approximately 2 years ago. The consumer states that the oven was being used when suddenly flames and sparks were coming from the oven. The consumer had an extended warranty through Lowes and contacted Lowes to have the range repaired. The consumer states that the technician described the incident as a run away oven. The consumer states that the circuit board, a wiring harness and front control panel was replaced. The consumer was advised that the firm was notified regarding this incident.
The consumer contacted Frigidaire to inform them about the incident and the consumer was advised that the range was not under warranty and the consumer would pay for any repairs. The consumer was also advised that the firm did not have record of any prior incident with the range. The consumer believes the range poses a fire hazard and should be recalled. The consumer has purchased another range because he did not feel safe repairing the range.
The consumer contacted Lowes to inform them about the incident but the consumer was advised that the extended warranty expired and they would not be able to assist the consumer.

The product, in the report: Electric range Ws3470 control, Self cleaning oven with ceramic cook top And bake-n-warm double oven.
I was running my nearly 11 year old Frigidaire oven on a self clean cycle as I’ve done 4 or 5 times in the past and this time the outer glass exploded 3 hours into the cycle sending glass about 10 feet across the kitchen. I’m worried that the glass was faulty since it broke into some very sharp shards. A lot of the pieces seemed to be shaped like pebbles as I believe it should have but there were quite a few rather large, long and pointy ones that worried me. My 3 year old was making faces and looking at get reflection in the door about 5 minutes before it happened. I think at least there should be a warning on the stove. This could have been a horrific ending if she were looking at her reflection as it exploded with the size and shape of some of the shards of glass.

The product, in the report: Smoothtop electric range with a double oven
The range was in the home when the consumer moved in - 9/2012.
For approximately the last year, the right front burner began turning on by itself. In the first incident, the consumer found that a dish towel that had been left on that element, was burned. In that incident, the damage was limited to the towel itself. The consumer has not left anything on top of the range since that incident. When that element turns on, it goes to the “high” setting. When this happens, the consumer has to unplug the stove. This appliance has a double oven and most of the time, this occurs when the upper oven is in use, but it also happens when both ovens and the range are in the off position.
The consumer stated that they could later identify when the burner comes on, because the ranges makes a beeping sound. The frequency has increased and lately, the problem has been happening twice a week.
3/14/2016: The consumer called the mfr. after reading about the Recall# 09-333, but the rep. told him that the recall applied models made during earlier years. The rep. also told the consumer that his range was outside of the warranty. The consumer spoke with 1 rep. (name unknown) and asked to speak with a supervisor. He was transferred to [REDACTED], who offered him 10% off of a replacement part.
The consumer is considering replacing the rage because of the safety hazard.
Since the consumer moved into the home, the range has never been serviced and he has never had any problems outside of this burner issue.

The consumer contacted her service who sent a technician out. The technician advised the consumer that the steam from the vent seeps under knobs and causes the wires to melt. The consumer noted the technician stated this was an issue on older models, first time he had seen it for the newer models.
(03/8/2016)The technician replaced the control panel and the left knobs
(02/2016/ The consumer contacted the firm and was advised to contact the warranty service.
The consumer added she is very concerned that other consumers will have their burners turn on without warning and could cause a house fire.

Text of Submitter’s Letter (excerpted):
We would like to report a recent serious problem with our Frigidaire Gallery Series 27” FGMC Black Microwave/Electric Wall Oven combination which we purchased from Sears for $1703 less than six years ago.
First the handle came loose on the oven door. Then, upon simply opening the oven door, the oven door glass exploded. Literally, exploded. Glass and pieces were sent across the kitchen floor and into the bottom tray of the oven. Sharp jagged pieces remained sticking out from the bottom of what was left of the glass door. We were lucky no one suffered any personal injury during the shattering or in the clean-up. See enclosures for photographs of the situation.
We contacted Electrolux North America and were told they would not pay for the costs we incurred for a new door and its installation nor did they seem concerned over any dangerous situation caused by their product.
We want to make sure no other family, especially with young children, face this situation.

The product, in the report: Electric Glass-Top Stove/Oven free-standing by Frigidaire; stainless steel finish
I have a Frigidaire Electric Glass-Top Stove/Oven Model # FEF366DCE. When I awoke this morning, I went into my kitchen, turned on my light and before I even saw it, stepped onto a bunch of broken pieces of glass. I turned to find my oven exterior door had shattered all over the floor into many small pieces and some sharp shards of glass. The glass extended all the way across my large kitchen at least 5 feet away from the oven. I had socks on, so I only got two small cuts on the bottom of my left foot and none on my right, but did receive some minuscule cuts on my hands when I tried to clean up the mess. Several big pieces of glass were still stuck in the door, but was cracked into many pieces and when I touched it to try to clean up the area, it shattered as well all over the floor and in the drawer under the stove. I don’t know how or why this glass shattered, as I have not used the stove or oven in the past 2 weeks, since I live alone and have been making sandwiches in my toaster oven or salads. I haven’t turned the oven on at all in over 3 months since I have a convection toaster oven that I use for everything. I didn’t bump the door or stove, haven’t cleaned it recently, I’ve never used the self-cleaning feature, nor have slammed the door or rested anything on the door. It happened without any exterior cause that I am aware of.

The product, in the report: From the Use & Care Manual: “Frigidaire Electric Range ES530 Control, Self-Cleaning Oven with Ceramic Cooktop & Bake-n-Warm Double Oven” Color is black
The left rear burner of the range spontaneously turned on. When I turned the dial to the “on” position, the numbers in the display were changing but not in a consistent manner with the dial, it was more random. When I turned the dial back to the “off” position, the burner remained on. So I pulled the range out from the wall and unplugged it.
About an hour later, hoping it would reset itself, I plugged the range back into the outlet and the dials all beeped and each display was lit for a couple seconds, then the display for each of the other 3 burners went off, while the display for the left rear burner stayed on displaying “Err”. It wasn’t getting hot, so thought it was OK to leave plugged in and I just wouldn’t use that burner until we had it serviced.
About 2 hours later, the burner spontaneously turned on again. I again unplugged the range from the wall outlet and have not used it since.

The product, in the report: Electric four double burner convection range
Frigidaire electric range purchased around 2008. When shutting off the oven I saw a large amount of smoke coming from a plastic container that was set on the stove top. The plastic container was melting and starting to burn, at which point I noticed the burner surface was red and the display for the burner was spontaneously changing settings. The dial for the burner in question was in the off position. Once the plastic container was moved from the stove dripping some burning plastic, I went to the garage and flipped the oven breaker. My wife stayed with the Frigidaire oven to make sure nothing else happened while I was in the garage. This Frigidaire oven model has a recall for the same problem but our serial number falls outside the ranges covered by the recall by nine numbers. All Frigidaire was willing to do was sell me an extended warranty for $419. It is very disturbing that my stove is doing the exact thing that the recall covered and the manufacturer doesn’t care.

Frigidaire Model FEFL79DBL Range/Oven
Recently I have noticed that the left front burner does not turn off even though the knob is turned to the off position. The first time I noticed that the “hot surface” light remained on for an extended period of time (over an hour) and then could feel very high heat radiating from the element even though it was not glowing red. I continually turned it on and off and it finally turned off and the “hot surface” light went out eventually.
Today I noticed that when I turned on the oven after I came back to check the status of preheating that the burner was once again extremely hot even though it had not been turned on. It had apparently come on when the oven temperature was set. I am worried that if I walk away from the stove that the burner will turn on and anything near it will either catch fire or melt. I have cut power to the stove at the breaker box at this time.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire model FPES3085 slide in range with smooth ceramic cooktop. This is a convection oven with digital displays. Serial number is NF22424050 It is stainless steel and black.
While cooking dinner last night the oven began making a louder fan sound than it normally does. All of a sudden the entire range made a very loud pop sound and all the elements, oven and cooktop, went dead. Since we have had electrical issues prior with this model slide in range, we went to the basement to turn off the breaker switch. Previously, we have had an issue where the stove cooktop would turn itself on for no reason (with no one cooking) and we were unable to turn it off. No knobs were turned to cook and no one was in the room. The only way we could get it to turn off was to turn off the breaker switch in the basement to the range. When the repair man came that time, he said the entire electrical panel was burned. This is the second time we have had an electrical issue with this range and we are afraid to fix it. We will always be worried about a fire. I have been reading reports on websites last night and again this morning of numerous customers who have had issues with my model range- including fires in their homes. So, I know our issues are not isolated issues and wanted to make you aware of the problem we had and that others are having.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Professional smooth top electric range, color black, with rotary control knobs, and digital displays for each element
I have a Frigidaire Professional smooth top range about 4 years old. On 2/11/2016, I shut off the large 2 element range top burner. The small inner element did not shut off. I immediately shut off the power at the circuit breaker. After it cooled, I switched on the circuit breaker and the inner element came on with the rotary switch in the off position.
I called Frigidaire to report the issue. They were of no help. I checked for recalls and determined there are several models on the recall list, but Frigidaire says this one is not recalled.
My range is doing the same thing the others have been recalled as listed on the CPSC web site.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery Series 30” Electric Range with Ceramic Cook top. Stainless Steel.
On 1/27/16, our Frigidaire Gallery Electric Range (Model # GLEFZ384HC / Serial # VF83769846) began making a loud noise and then started shooting sparks, flames and smoke from the area below the console panel and above the cook-top. Additional arcing and smoke was noticed in the oven chamber near the broiler element.
My wife was baking at the time of the incident, but none of the cook-top elements were on or in use. The fires self-extinguished after power to the range was cut (the circuit breaker tripped).
I am reporting this incident because I believe there is a significant risk to owners of this model range. While this model/serial number was not included in any of the (many) Frigidaire Product Recalls for similar models, I feel the experience we had matches those of other owners covered by the recalls. There seem to be a lot of reports of fires originating at the electronic consoles of Frigidaire ranges.
If there had been anything (grease, pot-holders, etc.) on the cook top during the incident I believe a fire could have spread quickly.
Further review of the range parts showed significant damage to several electrical components. (Pictures are available for clarification). Specifically: *The circuit boards in the console were blackened and burned over approximately 50% of the boards. *Several of the wires connected to the console were charred. *The insulation surrounding the broiler element leads were blackened from the fire, as were the wires connected to the broiler element. *The insulation surrounding the convection fan motor was blackened from the fire.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery 30 in. 5.7 cu. ft. Electric Range with Self-Cleaning QuickBake Convection Oven in Smudge-Proof Stainless Steel
In December 2015, we purchased a Frigidaire Gallery electric range from Home Depot. After reading through the instruction manual, I followed the directions for cleaning the cooktop. Several weeks went by before we were ready to try the oven. Within 15 minutes of turning on the oven, I became extremely nauseated. I turned off the oven and ventilated the house. I did not try operating it again until 2/6/2016. This time, the fumes were even stronger and my eyes began burning. Again, I opened doors and windows and read back through the manual which suggests that any initial odor will dissipate within 30 minutes of use. The following day, 2/7/2016, I opened every door and window in the house and turned on fans to blow any fumes out of the house. I turned the oven to 375 degrees and vacated the house for two hours. Upon returning, I found the fumes to be choking and I experienced a full-blown asthma attack requiring the use of my inhaler. Today (one day following the last incident), I am experiencing a burning sensation in my nose, throat and eyes and again I am nauseated. I need to know what type of chemical is causing this and whether I should seek medical attention. We also want a full refund from Home Depot and want the electric range removed from our property.

The product, in the report: Electric Smooth-top range with oven
The front left burner was in use, when the glass top shattered. The burner had been in use for approx. 7 minutes, on the setting of 8. The consumer turned the burner off and moved the pan over to one of the burners that had not been in use. The glass shattered within 1 - 2 minutes of the consumer turning it off. He also noted that instead of the burner becoming more dim, when he turned it off, it seemed to be getting hotter. The consumer believes that he was not injured, because he had moved several feet away from the range at the time of the incident. However, he believes that if someone were closer, they could have been injured.
Most of the glass dropped down on top of the range, but the consumer later found pieces of glass on the floor. The broken glass varied in size. Initially the consumer thought that the glass mainly broke over the burner that had been in use, but he noticed cracks through other parts of the glass.
2/3/2016: The consumer called Frigidaire and their rep. (name unknown) filed an incident report: [REDACTED]. The consumer said that he had to ask for the report number, because the firm did not willingly provide it to him. The consumer said that the rep. indicated that he had the range for 10 years and they tried to sell him a warranty, which he declined.
2/3/2016: The consumer also called the retailer, but their rep. indicated that the range was out of warranty and did not offer any other assistance. The consumer told the rep. that he never liked the range, because he could not clean it to his satisfaction. The rep. said that he never cleaned it, but he corrected her and reiterated that he couldn’t clean it as well as he preferred. For the first couple of years the consumer used the range daily, but over the last 2 - 3 years, they only use it a few times a week.
In the first couple weeks he owned the range, when he turned the range on, the display panel did not indicate the correct temperature. This was either the front or rear right burner, but the consumer can’t remember exactly which burner. It was repaired under warranty and an authorized technician replaced one of the burners. This enabled the consumer to view the burner settings correctly.
NOTE: The consumer said that the mfr’s rep. cross-referenced his range under the brand name Crosley, but he did not see that name anywhere on his range.
The beginning model numbers of the consumer’s range appear to match the ones in CAP# 09-333.
The consumer looked on the Internet and when he typed “Frigidaire exploding electric range”, he saw numerous other reports.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer again after he found a recall on the Internet. The manufacturer said the switches need to be replaced. They offered to send the consumer a switch. He would have to get a service person. He told them the range was destroyed when the glass exploded. They said the recall was for the switch.

My Fridgedaire Electrolux Cooktop Oven caught fire last night. The oven or stove was not in use at the time. I was using the timer function. Black smoke and sparks flew out of the top part of the oven and flames shot up out of the back, scorching my backsplash. Luckily, we were able to contain the fire and no one was injured. However, I have two young children and they were both terrified. We were lucky this occurred when we were home or it could have been a lot worse. When I called Frigidaire to make them aware of the problem, they seemed totally unconcerned about this issue.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire white range with smooth top. Model: FEF336BGWF SN: NF11511484
I purchased a house recently with a Frigidaire Range. Model # FEF336BGWF SN NF11511484
Recently we have had five separate incidents where the stove has been off, someone then uses a surface element, to make tea for example, and then turns the surface element off. Several minutes later we will hear a “click” and when we come into the kitchen the oven bake or broil element(not the surface element) is on and cannot be turned off. The only way to shut it off once this happens is to use the breaker. It’s quite disturbing, and I hate to think what may have happened if we made breakfast and then left to go on vacation or if someone reached into the oven to pull out something they thought was cool.

(1/11/16) The consumer had placed a pizza box on top of the cooktop. The consumer’s son walked in the kitchen and brushed by the range but did not realize that the front right knob was turned to the “On” position. The consumer’s son walked out of the kitchen. Shortly after the consumer noticed smoke and walked in the kitchen. The consumer states the pizza box was on fire. The consumer moved the pizza box from the cooktop and it fell on a rug. The consumer states the rug has some burn damages and a knife that was inside the pizza box. The consumer was able to put out the fire. The consumer states there were no other property damages.
(1/12/16) The consumer contacted the Lowes store where she purchased the range (3601 Crater Lake Hwy, Medford, OR 97504) to inform them about the incident and she spoke with [Redacted], the assistant manager. The consumer was advised that she would receive a call today (1/14/16) to discuss whether the consumer can receive a replacement. The consumer does not plan to keep the range.
(1/14/16) The consumer contacted the local fire department (541-450-6200) to report the incident. The consumer spoke with [Redacted], a fire marshal and he advised the consumer to contact CPSC Hotline to report the incident. The consumer was also advised to unplug the range when it is not being used.
The consumer states the knobs are very sensitive and when you brush up on them they will turn to the “On” position. The consumer states she noticed this issue a few months after purchasing the range. The consumer has had multiple incidents when the knobs have been accidently turned on or turned to a higher heat level. The consumer has contacted the firm and the Lowes store over the years to advise them of this issue and request a replacement but since she did not purchase a warranty they did not provide assistance.
The consumer believes the stick that connects to the knob is too short and it is the reason why the knobs move easily. The consumer believes the range poses a fire hazard.
The consumer plans to contact Frigidaire and report the incident.

I have a Frigidaire Electric Range generating F1 codes and spontaneously turning on a burner. I am aware that there is a recall but my serial number has not been included. I am contacting the Consumer Product Safety Commission to report this as it likely affects many consumers and would like immediate resolution from Frigidaire by sending the necessary replacement parts, presumably the control board. The most recent incident was yesterday, 12/ 20/2015 where a front burner came on all by itself with my grand kids in the area. A reset of my circuit breaker temporarily resolved the issue. It is also generating F1 codes randomly and a circuit breaker must be reset as well. this is clearly a safety related manufacturing defect and I am expecting that Frigidaire will make it right. Could you please report this to them.

The product, in the report: Electric Range
The consumer stated that they ran a self cleaning cycle for the oven. Shortly before it was due to turn off by itself, the unit caught on fire. The control panel exploded into flames. The flames were approximately foot high and left burn marks/soot on the adjacent wall.
The consumer turned off the electricity from the circuit breaker. When he came back in the house, the flames had started to diminish. The flames gradually went out within few minutes (appx 5 minutes)
The consumer contacted Frigidaire in regards to the incident. The consumer was sent over to [REDACTED] to arrange for a technician to come out for an inspection. The consumer was provided repair order # [REDACTED] by Frigidaire.
The technician came out from [REDACTED] on 12/16/15. The technician informed him that he has seen this issue before with similar units. The technician inspected the unit and informed him that the control panel blew up. The connector did not stop the electricity from flowing and the unit continued to send out electricity which caused the fire. The technician informed the consumer that he will go back to the company and tell them what happened. The technician informed the consumer that Firgidaire will either provide parts for repair or a new unit. The technician believes that the issue would be taken care of in about a week.
The consumer believes that if he was not around when the flames appeared then the house could have had major damages.
The consumer stated that within the first year of purchase, Frigidaire replaced the control board because it stopped working. There were no safety issues with the unit at that time. The consumer stated that they use the self-cleaning cycle 2-3 times a year.
The consumer added:
Pursuant to a phone call with CPSC this morning, he is attaching a photograph of the burns on the wall behind their stove after it exploded into flames on the night of December 11, 2015. They reported the incident to Frigidaire next morning (December12), and they [manufacturer] sent a technician to their house on December 16th. So far nothing else has been done, despite repeated calls to Frigidaire and the local technician’s office. Frigidaire told them that there must be three incidents with a stove before they replace it. The first incident occurred within a year of our purchasing it (we bought it in 2010). That first incident was not dangerous because the range simply stopped working. This time it burst into flames, which is obviously dangerous, and the consumer noted they are unhappy that they [manufacturer] have taken so long to repair the stove, let alone refuse to replace it, at this holiday time of the year. The consumer asked, “Would you be comfortable using a stove that blew up into flames once already?” He doubt it, but Frigidaire seems to be unsympathetic to that issue.
The consumer also noted he has attached the photo of the stove with this message, and the control board at the bottom with the burns on the wall directly above it should be noted.

This oven is new to me, as it was in a home that I recently purchased. On my second time using the stove I used the warming burner for the first time. It seemed to work fine, but when I turned all the burners off, the warming burner light stayed on. After 5 minutes it was clearly still producing heat. Only flipping off the breaker or unplugging the range/oven caused the warming burner to turn off.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire double convection oven, model number FGEF304DKW, serial number NF21320560 purchased January 2013
An incident occurred to me that seems ripe for a Rossen Report. I suffered a very scary incident over the weekend with my Frigidaire stove, as set forth in my Facebook post I am copying below. So far, Frigidaire has indicated that they will not be replacing or repairing the product under any circumstances, and that it will be several days before anyone even contacts me. Certainly, we will not be able to have Thanksgiving dinner at this point, and I have suffered a very large second-degree burn on my arm, for which I had to seek medical treatment. The burn occurred because the handle is mounted on the glass front door (not to any metal frame) in this model, meaning that when I opened the door to place food inside, and the glass shattered (without having made contact with anything), the handle detached and caused the door (375 degrees) to snap back and burn my arm. The terrifying part is that I have a 9 month old baby and a 3 year-old son. Had they been anywhere near, the injuries could have been much more serious. I was told by Frigidaire that this is a common occurrence and can happen if there is a hairline crack, even if not visible. This is absolutely an unsafe product, and I just want to ensure that other persons (and potentially children) are not seriously injured. Frigidaire had no trouble taking payment from me for their defective product (only purchased two years ago), but is very slow to address the damage and injury caused by their negligence. Please help me get this important safety issue heard and addressed.
If you own a glass front Fridgidaire oven, be warned. Last night, I simply opened My oven to put dinner in to cook and the entire front shattered, spraying glass shards in every direction as far as 10 feet. The door didn’t hit anything and had no visible/known cracks. After shattering, the door snapped closed on my arm, resulting in a second degree burn. I also had several minor cuts. I’m only posting this because I feel so lucky that my babies weren’t anywhere near at the time. This is a very serious safety issue. I want others to be aware of it. My initial call to Fridgidaire was met with indifference. The operator offered to assist me in “purchasing a replacement part.” Um, no thank you. Instead, I will be filing a complaint with the Consumer Products Safety Commission. Your faulty product could have blinded or maimed me or my children. I will not be paying you to replace your faulty parts.

The consumer started the oven to the broiler feature. The backside of the control panel caught on fire. The consumer noticed flames and black smoke. The consumer stated that there was a really bad odor.
The consumer disconnected the power to the unit.
The consumer looked at the back of the unit. There are few areas where the wires and panel have melted and charred. There is also melting and charring on the wire connectors as well.
The consumer contacted Frigidaire multiple times in regards to the incident. The first person the consumer spoke to informed him that someone will be contacting him for further assistance. The representative gave him the impression that they will remedy the issue.
The last person the consumer spoke to was a supervisor. The consumer was informed that the unit is not under warranty or recall. The consumer was informed that if he bought a warranty for $300, they can have a technician sent out for inspection and repair. He would also get an extended 2 year warranty.
There was no damage to the home.
The consumer stated that the manufacturer should take responsibility of the repair even without warranty because the fire and wire damage is a manufacturing defect.

I have a frigidaire oven model number DGEF3051KFH I performed a self clean on it. After the self clean the oven quick working. Upon opening the back we noticed that it had burnt up one of the wire attached to the circuit board. We repaired that. Then in a couple weeks we had a fire start in the back of the oven. We were told the circuit board was smoke checked. This occurred because doing the self clean burnt up the sensor and it was allowing the oven to get too hot. We then had to replace the circuit board and the sensor. Not cheap parts. Looking online this looks like a very common problem with frigidaire and has many recalls however not for our model number. I want to make sure this is made aware as well as I’d like to talk to someone and insure that these repairs will fully fix the issue so we have no more fires. Thank you

Caller stated that she is experiencing similar problems with her cooktop as recall#09-333. Hazard: Depending on the model, the surface heating elements can: 1) turn on spontaneously without being switched on; 2) fail to turn off after being switched off; or, 3) heat to different temperatures than selected. This poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers.
Caller stated that she was using the range and turned it on low and left the home for approximately 2 hours. When she returned home she noticed that the her smoke alarms were going off and smoke had engulfed the entire house, the house was ventilated. Caller stated that she powered off the range and later on she noticed that the large right front burner appeared red. She stated that she played with the knob until it powered off.
Caller stated that this incident has occurred approximately 3 times before but this time it was worse.
The manufacturer was contacted and she was advised that her model was not part of the recall and she was transferred to the service department who informed her that a service technician would be sent out at her expense.
This burner has done the not turning off & coming back on at least 3X’s per year. The callers have had this home for 6yrs. They moved in “2009” & it was already installed in home. Have receipts from previous owner.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Professional smooth top slide in stainless steel range. Model PLES389ECE.
In the early hours of the morning Saturday November 7th 2015 we were woken by a beeping/alarm. We investigated and there was smoke filled in our kitchen coming from the stove. There was an error code (maybe F30, can’t quite remember) and the two right hand burners showed that they were hot. There was a smell of burning plastic and smoke so we turned off the breaker to the stove and secured everything until morning.
My husband took off the front control panel in the morning to see what was going on and if it looked like it was going to be repairable and saw that the control board 316441801 was burnt and had damaged the one next to it and melted the plastic on the range control panel. We were so lucky there was some kind of beeper/alarm that awoke us in the middle of the night and there was not more damage to our house or us. It appeared that the cost of buying new parts was going to be higher than we wanted to pay. Today we went out and spent over $1500 on a new stove. It was only afterwards when friends asked what could have caused it that they suggested checking to see if there was a recall. We found that our model had indeed been recalled.
It was a Frigidaire Professional model PLES389ECE and serial number NF62218063.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Electric Range Model fef351cwb. Serial vf41717525
I bought this range and when the heating element went I called my home warrantee company who called Sears to fix it but the technician couldn’t fix because there were holes in the upper left panel of the oven. I thought it was made of metal but no. It looks like it is made of plastic. This oven received just average use, no neglect, or deliberate damage. The panel melted and now I can’t have it fixed because it is a non replaceable part and non covered item and on top of that no one will fix the heating element because the panel is unsafe so I am screwed. This kind of shoddy product is uncalled for and we need to stop letting companies get away with this.

The product, in the report: Black Electric Frigidaire Range - Model - FEF326FBB - Serial# VF62638121 pt number 316075104
My electric Frigidaire range caught fire Sunday, October 18, 2015. I turned on the oven to preheat it before I cooked and all of a sudden I heard some type of explosion come from downstairs. I got downstairs and saw smoke coming out of the kitchen. I thought my kitchen was on fire. I walked in the kitchen and saw flames coming out of the oven. I turned it off and the flames went out. all of the smoke detectors in the house alarmed. I then called the fire dept and they disconnected the stove from the wall. The heating element is destroyed the fire caused it. So, I have been without a stove for a few weeks. This morning I called the local appliance part store and described the incident. The lady said, “ oh, they do that all the time.” then she gave me the price of the heating element, which was too expensive and I said thanks. Model# EFE326FBB, Serial # VF62638121 Part # 316075104

The product, in the report: Frigidaire range model GLEFZ384GC, stainless, self-cleaning, standard and convection oven...had not been on for 3 days at least and was not on at time of the incident
Sitting at home about 10pm 10/19/15, other person in house working at office desk, no one in the kitchen. The oven had last been used on 10/16/15 at the very earliest. We hear a pop and shattered glass in the kitchen. Went to check on the noise and the outer glass of my oven (Frigidaire GLEFZ384GC) had basically exploded into tiny cubes of glass and long slender pieces (3” long) and shot clear across my kitchen, about 12”. Glass was everywhere in the floor and a small frame of glass that was shattered but still together was still in the door.
If I had been cooking it would have been a major problem, or if a child had been in the kitchen, a major problem!

We moved into a house that had a Frigidaire electric stove. On 10/22/2015 while preparing supper, we smelled smoke. The electric stove’s left rear element did not turn off and instead looked like it was actually burning. I attempted to reset the electric stove by turning the circuit breaker off for 5 minutes. This had no effect and the left front element when powered repeated the same thing. This electric stove is Model GLES389ESA, and the Serial Number is: NF53621091. There have been several recalls of this model and we would like to report it and learn if this model/serial number were recalled.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery white smooth cooktop electric range purchased 6/22/03
Please see attached sheet as the space on this form was not sufficient for my information. Thank you. I am using this page because the space on the pdf form was not sufficient for my information.
On 9/15/15 I was preparing to make pasta sauce. I put a little olive oil in my pan on my right hand front stove burner. This is a split burner that can be used for both large and small pans. My range is a Frigidaire Gallery Series smooth cooktop. Model # GlEFS77CSA Serial # VF32440851. We purchased this stove on 6/22/03. We have never had any repairs done on this stove. It has not been moved since we bought it. I placed my sliced garlic in the oil in my pan and turned the burner onto the low heat setting. I turned back to my counter and proceeded to chop my onion. Within a minute I could smell burning garlic and the oil was spitting. I turned back to my stove to see my burner was red hot and indeed my garlic was burning and the oil was almost gone and spitting. I pulled the pan off of the burner, looked at the burner knob, noticed that indeed it was on low and then quickly shut it off. It was very disconcerting. If I had not been right there, what would have happened? I took a breath and then tried to turn the burner on low again. When I did, it immediately turned bright red and burning hot with no temperature regulation as it should have for a low temperature setting. I turned off the burner and decided to use my other front large burner for my sauce, intending to look into this issue later in the day.
When I did look into the issue with my stove, I was surprised to discover that there was a recall of Frigidaire Gallery smooth cooktops made by your office on Aug. 28th, 2009. It is release # 09-333. I researched this further to discover that my range serial number was in the recall range, but my model was not. I decided to call Frigidaire and speak to them about this since it was a known problem with other ranges in the Gallery series, manufactured and sold during the same time period. I spoke with 6 people during the 2 day time period of 9/15-9/16/15. I was shuttled back and forth from the recall to the customer service dept. then back to the recall dept. Each time the person saying the other dept. could help me. Finally on 9/16/15 a woman named [REDACTED] in the customer service dept. tried to really help me. I explained what happened and how I didn’t understand why it was so hard to have my issue covered under the recall when my incident was what the recall was for, my range is a gallery range, manufactured and sold during the same time period, probably manufactured alongside the gallery models that are listed on the recall and most likely has the same parts in question that are faulty and have caused safety problems in the past. My serial number is in the recall range. She understood what I was asking and went to her supervisor. After a time she came back and said that both the model and the serial number have to be what is on the recall for it to be covered. That those are the rules of the Consumer Protection Agency. I kind of understood that, but thought that since this is a known safety issue with similar gallery models that they would do the right thing and cover my issue too and offer to replace whatever part is faulty. She said no that they couldn’t do that.
So I said I would call the Consumer Protection Agency and file a claim. Which I did this morning 9/17/15. I spoke with [REDACTED] who listened to my story and said she would help me file my claim. Unfortunately, she said she was having trouble with the online form and could I call back or try online. I said I would. I tried online and I too had difficulty with the online form. After I wrote this information down and hit next, it said cannot locate this page. Everything I typed was lost. So I downloaded this form to email in to you. I feel as though since my range was both manufactured and sold during the recall time period, that it is a gallery model as is listed in the recall, and that the problem that I am having is a known safety issue that the recall is addressing that my model should be added to that recall # 09-333. I am asking for this consideration from your office. Thank you for your consideration.

The product, in the report: Fridgidairei Professional Electric Range with Oven and Smooth Cook top. Silver and Black.
I purchased a Frigidaire Professional Electric Range in March 2014 Brand New. Model # FPEF3081MFA. While using my oven, the front right stove top burner got hot. I initially though it was just residual heat from using my over - I had been roasting tomatoes all morning, as my stove top was not turned on and I was not using it. I finished what I was doing and clean up and turned the oven off and left it to cool and left my house. I came home a few hours later and the burner was red hot and obviously “on” even though the controls said it was off. My first instinct was to try the controls and see if it would turn off - I turned the burner on and was able to set the size to the large burner and saw the whole thing beginning to get hot, then I turned it off, the large burner turned off but the center stayed on and HOT. I unplugged my range and waited several hours for everything to cool. When I plugged it back in the front right burner turned on immediately and began to get HOT. I researched this issue and found that similar products were recalled for this same issue, but upon contacting the manufacturer learned my model number was not included and they were unwilling to budge. This malfunction could have very easily caused injury or a fire and my entire unit cannot even be used until I get it fixed - even then I worry that whatever caused this will happen again with a different burner.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire electric smooth top slide-in range The number on our range is FGES3065KFB
We have a Frigidaire electric smooth top slide-in range that is experiencing the same hazards listed in the recall for the smooth top cooktops. The surface heating elements turn on unexpectedly by themselves, the elements heat at temperatures other than expected and then don’t turn off as expected. I feel this model / product is very unsafe as it will turn itself on and off at random times throughout the day.

The product, in the report: Electric Range
Caller stated that he experienced similar problems as recall#09-333. Hazard: Depending on the model, the surface heating elements can: 1) turn on spontaneously without being switched on; 2) fail to turn off after being switched off; or, 3) heat to different temperatures than selected. This poses a fire and burn hazard to consumers. He stated that his left front burner came on by itself, he went in the kitchen and smelled a burning odor and noticed that the burner had came on.
Caller stated that the control panel would not power off the unit he had to switch the circuit breaker off. He has to keep the circuit breaker off because the incident re-occurs when he switches it back on. He stated that the incident started about a month ago. There was no prior service calls with the range.
(8/19) The manufacturer was contacted and he was informed that his range was out of warranty and was not part of a recall. He was told because of those reasons they were unable to assist him.
Caller feels that this range is a fire hazard and should be recalled.

Subject: Recall #11016-Frigidaire Cooktop
To Whom it may Concern; I have a Frigidaire cooktop in my home at [REDACTED]; Model # PLEC36S9ECB Serial # NF62019789 This unit has been recalled due to liquids that oil over enter the electrical control and short out the controls-Recall #11016 On March 13, 2013, I had this very problem and reported it to Frigidaire via their toll free customer service number. I specifically ask at the time if this was covered under any type of recall and I was told NO. The message was recorded so it would easy to verify. I do not understand why I was not informed of the recall. They provided me with the authorized service contact and I had the control replaced at my coat of $235.76--Receipt attached. Due to the recall I want to be reimbursed for this cost. Please let me know what I need to do. I have discussed this issue with many customer service people at Frigidaire to no avail.. The product, in the report: Fridgidaire Gallery Electric Range, purchased Jan 2011 with an extended 4 year warranty package. Model CGEF3055KFA.
The glass on my oven door randomly and spontaneously exploded. There was no trauma and this is not normal wear and tear. The potatoes were slow to cook, so I opened the oven door about 2 inches and the glass blew shards everywhere. I took a picture. I do have current warranty but the seller, Leons, will not honor this issue. I contacted the manufacturer, Frigidaire, who have also refused. I feel this is a safety concern as well as a functional issue and other consumers might wish to be alerted!

Frigidaire Cooktop Model #FEC32S6ABF Serial # NF91833267 has temperature control issues. It changes to a higher temperature on it’s own. Also does not turn off when manually placed in the off switch position. This caused a small fire to ensue on my cooktop; luckily I was able to quickly put the fire out.

The product, in the report: Electric Range.
I was home with my two children when I heard popping noises coming from my stove. Black smoke was coming out of the top, from behind the stove where the clock was on the control area. I then saw flame reflecting in my glass tile back splash. I called the fire department, got my children out and used a fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire and the fire department assisted when it arrived and removed the stove from my home. The stove was a smooth top electric range that spontaneously started on fire. It was a Frigidaire Gallery, Model No. FPEF3081KFC, Serial No. VF02163339. The internal portion that ignited was behind the clock/electronic controls. I have photographs, but have been unable to upload them to this complaint.

The product, in the report: electric range
Sometime within May/June, 2014 this caller turned the left front burner of his electric range off after cooking, however the burner did not go out until the breaker was tripped. This was repaired at caller’s expense June 16th, 2014 by a repair shop local to his residence.
The caller states that around May 5th, 2015 the left front burner again would not turn off after use until the breaker was tripped.
There are no injuries being reported
The caller contacted the manufacturer in June 30th, 2015, he spoke with [REDACTED] and was offered only a discount on the repair part with an expiration of offer within 30 days of that date. The caller finds this offer unsatisfactory and he is asking for a recall of this model and serial number with repair at manufacturer expense.
He is reporting this incident as a fire and burn hazard.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire gallery smoothtop oven.
I turned on my Frigidaire gallery oven to preheat. Within a minute there was a loud buzzing noise from it and smoke came out of it. Before I could get to the breaker it popped. I inspected the oven and found that the light circuit had failed and had caused a short to the chassis of the oven. This caused an amount of current large enough to actually catch the insulation on fire. Had anyone been in contact with this oven with this current flowing they easily could have been injured or possibly killed or had there been any flammable foreign matter in the area it could have resulted in a fire. I contacted Frigidaire on multiple occasions with no response.

We purchased this product February 20, 2014, and this morning, May 25, 2015 (only 15 months), six minutes into cooking breakfast, the glass cooktop cracked from the front right corner all the way to the back left corner. We have taken such good care of this cooktop that it is scratch-free, and we have never even had to use the provided cooktop cleaner for cleanups (only water) even with twice daily use.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Professional Series Electric Range FPES3085KFD Serial no. NF14120972
I was using my Frigidaire Professional Series Electric Range FPES3085KFD Serial no. NF14120972 to cook something using the front left burner. When I was finished, I turned the burner dial off, but the burner stayed on and turned red hot, then down, then red hot again, cycling on and off. It would not turn off until I shut the range off at the circuit breaker. This happened before about a year ago, and we had to have a repairman replace the switches, which are daisy-chained together so that if one goes bad, they all have to be replaced. Needless to say, it’s a fire hazard to have a range whose burners turn themselves on and won’t shut off.
