     I purchased a Samsung 3-door Refrigerator in April 2020. The unit was within normal working parameters until April 2022. I began noticing ice build up in the vents at the back of the refrigerator section. This build-up did not affect any part or operation of the unit at this time. At the end of April 2022, I noticed my deli drawer at the bottom of the unit was stuck, it wouldn’t move. Thanks to a layer of ice that formed, the drawer was going nowhere. I also noticed that food was going bad quicker than it normally would. The temperature from the top shelf reported 55F when the panel read 37F. Each week, I would remove the deli drawer and break out the layer of ice that had accumulated before drying it out. At the end of May 2022, food stored in the unit began to spoil within days of purchasing. A gallon of milk had spoiled within a day. In June of 2022, I had my first repair bill for it for $350. Samsung had scheduled the repair from a company on their authorized lists. Upon arrival, the repair person knew within moments of the issue, as they described this situation as the most common one they face: a faulty temperature sensor. This sensor messages the coolant system telling it if the fridge needs colder or to stand down. This fluctuation from the sensor’s failure caused ice build-up that blocks the air vents, which raises the internal temperature. The fix was immediate and had no further issues until March of 2023. The ice build-up was back and I began removing it every two weeks. I reached out to Samsung asking for the repair to a device they replaced less than a year ago, but was told there was no authorized repairfolk in the {REDACTED] area so I would have to schedule my service and then file a claim to see IF the warranty of only the sensor would be covered (but there may be other ‘issues’ discovered’). At the time, the ice removal was not a huge issue so I did nothing In May of 2023, my food began to spoil within days of purchasing, again. Contacting Samsung, I was told there was now an authorized repair company that could schedule the appointment but I would have to pay $425 upfront to schedule it. I never had to do that with the first repair and this new appointment is essentially fixing the original repair’s problem. Furiously, I decided not to continue the conversation with Samsung and attempt alternative routes. I concluded that if the sensor was the simple fix, then I could do it. After days of reviewing several videos and articles on the subject, as this issue with Samsung’s units has been going on since 2017, I felt confident enough to screw off a panel, remove the ice build-up, and replace this sensor piece. The operation went text-book well. I was closing up the operation when I had not realized that the final 2 screws were not catching the receiving end for fastening. Realizing I placed the wrong screws in, I began removing the first incorrectly placed screw when a high-pressure burst of gas spewed out around the screw. I had punctured the coil which circulated the refrigerant gas. Unknowing the toxicity of the gas, I closed the unit doors immediately and removed my roommate and myself from my townhouse. After spending a wasteful 20 minutes with Samsung support on ascertaining how toxic this gas was, I discovered that we were in no danger by my research for an MSDS sheet on the gas. My issues are these: how are these products still being produced when they knowingly have continuous errors in their temperature sensors? If they claim they didn’t, then their research department should be fired. [REDACTED] knew that this has been an issue since 2017. The only logical conclusion is that Samsung has designed these units to fail on purpose. FOR EXAMPLE: why is there a vital tube behind a screw hole? Why need two different length screws when you could have designed it only to have one, eliminating the chance a consumer would be confused, [REDACTED] even a repairperson could get confused. I don’t think I’m an Einstien-level genius, but as a licensed architect, I understand the purpose and why things are built the way they are. This product was designed to fail. That failure has costed me with lost food, pointless repairs, and poses a hazard to my health. This is not only unprofessional of Samsung but unethical. I am blown away that this has been allowed.

     I woke up early on the morning of March 18th to find a message on my Samsung refrigerator that has a display screen on it that said abnormal temperatures. Temperature in the freezer is abnormally high. Please check if door is opened or hot foods are in the freezer, if this problem has been solved, the message will disappear, if the warning continues, please call a Samsung service center. I called my extended warranty company first, who explained that the appliance is no longer under warranty coverage, that the extended warranty starts on the date of purchase, that I would have to contact the appliance company about this issue. So I called the Samsung service center. I explained what was going on with the refrigerator and they asked if my ice marker was working, I said that it was not even after the repair, and the technician who did the repair stated that there really is no fix for this issue, and that this is a design flaw in this model of refrigerator, that Samsung is aware of the issue. The Samsung service center set up a diagnostics repair on March 22nd 2023 in which I had to pay 124.95 + tax to [REDACTED] have been assigned for your appliance service. Our trip/diagnostic fee is $124.95 + tax to schedule your onsite diagnosis. On March 28th the technician was scheduled to come out to the house to diagnose the problem with the refrigerator. The technician [REDACTED] said the compressor had failed and he would contact Samsung to get a replacement. Once they receive the replacement ( approximately April 11th) he would return to replace the compressor which is V covered under the warranty for 10 years from the date of purchase. On April 11th the repair man [REDACTED] came to make the repair on the refrigerator, in which when replacing the compressor, a dryer also needed to be replaced at which it was told to us came as a gift from [REDACTED] the repair technician. Then on May 15th 2023, the same warning message appeared on my refrigerator, again having to remove and dispose of all unsafe foods due to excessive temperature exposure, I contacted Samsung again, and a new work order was created again, only the parts they replaced are not covered and I had to repay for the diagnosis of the refrigerator and they used the same company to come back out, and they are saying it’s a leak in the lines, yet the issues are the same.

     My Samsung french door refrigerator model RF323TEDBSR/AA started having problems during the warranty, and we had to have the ice maker replaced, Then it happened again immediately after the warranty expired and has been freezing up every 2 to 4 weeks ever since. We have to knock out the frozen mess, defrost it, and clean it out, then wait for it to start making ice. It’s a pain! Plus the interior temperature does not always stay cold enough. We keep a thermometer in it to monitor the temperature, but it does scare us that we might get sick from food that has not been kept cold enough. And the freezer fills up with lots of frost and chunks of ice form inside and a layer of thick ice forms on the outside and inside of the right side of the freezer drawer. and something is dripping inside that forms stalactites and stalagmites inside the freezer within an hour or two sometimes. These are constant problems.

     I have a 28 cu. ft. 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with FlexZone™ in Black Stainless Steel Samsung refrigerator that was manufactured in August of 2018. On April 5th, my samsung refrigerator started showing temperatures 47 F for the fridge and 58 F for the freezer. After contacting Samsung’s customer support via chat, Samsung created a ticket to replace the ice maker and said that replacing it could potentially fix the freezer cooling problem. On April 17th, Samsung sent a technician from [REDACTED], to fix the issue (Samsung reference ticket ID - [REDACTED]). After running the fridge on FF, the technician observed that frost only covered half of the topmost coil, with no frost on the rest of the coils. He mentioned that this was a sealed system problem, replaced the ice maker, and informed me that as [REDACTED] isn’t certified for sealed system issues, Samsung would have to send a qualified technician.

     After contacting Samsung again, they informed me that there was nobody authorized within 100 miles who was certified for sealed system issues, so I was asked to contact a local certified company. Samsung representative recommended [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] and informed me that if the technician determined that it was a sealed system issue, Samsung would reimburse all the repair costs including labor, parts fee, and the diagnostic fee. On April 24th, a technician from [REDACTED] visited and determined that it was, indeed, a sealed system problem. He added refrigerant and asked me to wait a night to see if the freezer would start cooling again, but there was no cooling. The technician indicated that the refrigerator has clogged capillary tubes. The capillary tubes, which help regulate the flow of refrigerant, can become clogged with debris from the compressor, preventing proper refrigerant flow and causing negative suction pressure. To resolve the issue following components need to be replaced: Compressor, Freezer evaporator. He gave us a quote of $1338.79 for the fix and asked us to pay $140.93 for the diagnostic and the refrigerant.

     I contacted Samsung again if they can send their own technician for the fix or if they can send $1338.79+$140.93 payment to [REDACTED] so that [REDACTED] can go ahead with the fix. As usual Samsung created new ticket and no resolution was provided. Samsung is neither paying [REDACTED] beforehand to fix the issue nor providing us any accomodation. Samsung has also not sent any repair person for these issues. Samsung is forcing us to pay $1400 from our pocket despite knowing that this is a known manufacturing defect. The fridge is not safe anymore to store the frozen items as the temperatures are not suitable. I had to throw all my frozen items to make no one in the family consumes it even by mistake and ends up falling sick.

     The fridge control panels show incorrect temperatures (-7 F for the freezer and 34 F for fridge). On keeping food thermometer in fridge for multiple days, it showed me temperatures 46.2 F, 43.3 F, 44.44 F for the fridge and 39.2 F for the freezer section which ideally should be in negatives. These temperatures are definitely dangerous for me and my family.

     I have a fairly new (2019) Samsung refrigerator with French doors (model #RF23HCED8SR/AA). I noticed that the temperature inside did not match the 34 degrees F shown on the display. Food was not keeping well and spoiling as I was not aware that the temp was inaccurate until I checked the temperature using my own kitchen thermometer. Water was accumulating in and below the crisper drawers which added humidity to the fridge. I have had more stomach problems over the past few months and have to be careful to check inside containers for mold. I called Samsung today for service and also have a problem with the ice maker not working and freezing the drawer making it impossible to pull out. I had to be careful not to hurt myself trying to remove the drawer since it was stuck and located near the fridge door.

     4/15/2022: The ice maker started dispensing broken pieces of plastic along with the ice. The plastic pieces were extremely difficult to see, because the ice is white, and the pieces varied in size.

     There were no injuries.

     (Around 4/2022 - 5/2022): The consumer reported the incident to the manufacturer several times. She went back and forth with the firm for approximately 1 month, before they sent out a technician and replaced a part in the ice maker. She is not sure what part was replaced. The company ended up covering the cost, but initially insisted that the consumer pay for it.

     5/15/2023: The exact same thing happened with the ice maker dispensing broken pieces of plastic.

     Own a 4-Door French Samsung Refrigerator, Date of Fabrication June 2016. The Ice maker never worked properly making hard ice balls due to leaks and making the container to be stuck. This same problem has been reported by thousands of people that own these refrigerators and they came factory defective. Samsung knew about these issues because are stated on their bulletin boards. On March 2022 the ice maker was replaced by Samsung but was another factory defective product that was put on my refrigerator. In within 1 year the ice maker started to leak causing ice to build up inside the panels. Causing a shortage and burning of the evaporator system, contaminating with freon the inside and outside of the refrigerator, which produced a loud noise followed by a burning and musty smell and, forced compressor failure. Samsung replaced the compressor which was not operating properly and was left with a constant whistling noise as if a gas was escaping which stopped after unplugging the refrigerator, however, a strange constant noise continued to rattle the fridge. The musty smell is back, the food was never cold to the right edible temperature. I used a refrigerator thermometer to take all suspicions of why I was feeling stomach sick. The Samsung panel refrigerator showed 34F vs the thermometer that used which it showed 61f inside the refrigerator. I demanded answers from Samsung bu they refused to provide with complete diagnosis of the refrigerator problems. Samsung needs to take responsibility for their actions by not addressing and fixing its factory-defective products. Leaving me with a broken refrigerator and under the perception that the fridge was fixed when they changed the compressor wrong but never addressed or fixed the evaporator system which is an important part to make the refrigerator stay cool. Their negligence could have cost a major fire. I have been eating food that has been contaminated with free-on and at the same time food that was exposed the unsafe temperatures. Even the technicians can’t guarantee the fixing of the refrigerator. Samsung is not being responsible for the health and safety of its customers. This type of refrigerator together with other models has been proven to be factory defective creating all types of problems to their consumers.

The Digital thermostat on the door says it is a safe temperature but a thermometers placed inside reads up to 50°. I’m concerned about food poisoning. I have reached out to Samsung and they told me there’s nothing they can do because it’s “not under warranty.” I expressed to them that this is a not a warranty issue, it is a defective and unsafe product. They are no longer responding. The refrigerator also leaks water out onto the floor. I have been feeding my large family with food from this refrigerator for years and I am concerned that GI issues were actually from unsafe dairy/meat kept in this refrigerator, not a virus etc.

We realized by reading other accounts that this was a defect, so we ignored and did without it. Another problem was the refrigerator compartment not cooling due to ice buildup from the coils around the fan. The ice continues to buildup, the temperature in the food compartment increases and food spoils. I researched [REDACTED] and found how to remove and remedy the problem, but it keeps happening every 1 to 2 months. The process of fixing takes a long time. All food items need to be removed from the unit, then the cover must be removed, then the ice needs to be melted...this takes about a day to completely fix. It has been a big time consuming inconvenience.

     We have a Samsung 4 door refrigerator. The ice machine has been leaking water and not freezing the ice properly for months.      We bought our Samsung Family Hub in 2020. Within a year we started having problems with the refrigerator keeping the appropriate temperature. While the temperature setting is in the mid-30s, the temperature inside is as high as 50 or 55. I have had Samsung repair under warranty and it works for a few months and then reverse back to the same problem. Samsung service reps will not answer calls and when they do they give you lip service. Our food has spoiled and I’ve told them that, but they don’t seem to care. I am almost ready to simply buy a new refrigerator and lose the $2600 we paid for our samsung appliance. I am also considering suing in small claims court. Sad to say but please do not buy a Samsung refrigerator.

Well yesterday afternoon, (April 15, 2023) we noticed our drinks felt warmer despite the refrig set pt at 35 degrees but showing 43 to 47. My husband and I are in our mid 70’s with heart problems and his is more severe than mine. Some of our drugs need to be refrigerated also. I also have an autoimmune disease so it is a major necessity that I have well maintained temperatures for our food products as I am more susceptible to gastric issues. We reset or did a hard boot two times yesterday but now the refrig shows 57 degrees but the freezer still shows -2 degrees which is our set pt. My model is the French door RF4267HARS This refrigerator doesn’t cool, can’t make ice, but instead leaks all the water out to your floors, two levels and trash your food ( happened to us 8 times) Food rating, smells, mold. Samsung reached out to me to settle a refund and payment of damages in September 2022. They have ignored me since.      Samsung Refrigerator RF28k9070sr/aa unsafe unstable temperatures in the freezer and in the fridge. Bought from Best Buy 2018. Started with ice maker within 4 months of install freezing up unit repair and then replaced after 2 service calls. Started to freeze up again after 1 yr. Warranty expired. Have to thaw it every couple months so entire unit doesn’t freeze up. Since 2022 freezer will stop freezing and everything inside will be thaw. Can’t keep any frozen items in freezer now because it’s unsafe unstable temperatures. Temperature control for freezer isn’t accurate have been monitored with a thermometer inside of unit since 2022 and taken numerous pictures to document temperature differences. Since beginning of April 2023 not only is the freezer not always freezing but the refrigerator has been fluctuating and been in unsafe temperatures. We have to monitor it frequently for spoilage. Have thrown out spoiled food frequently. This and other Samsung Refrigerators are a health hazard and should be recalled as Samsung is very aware that they have thousands and thousands of Samsung Refrigerators out in the world that are defective. Samsung need to do the right thing and recall them be responsible Samsung!

     Samsung French 4 door refrigerator only a couple years old- water started pouring from ice maker, we checked fridge and temp wasnt right, too high, freezer too.. not working at all, lost all food. Followed steps on their site and still nothing. Temp was 71 inside fridge! Have photos of melted icecream and pork tenderloin now in a balloon die to releasing gasses because it was breaking down due to temp! I have two children under 10. While searching for resolution I found that this is a known issue, defective product, class action, investigation but no recall or updates. Not sure why it’s taking so long for a recall but in the meantime I’m without a fridge, now over a week and Samsung just gives the run around and never follows up. A $3k fridge is expected to last more than 2 years.. it’s defective! I lost hundreds in food, but they want me to pay to fix their defect! When I said no they escalated to case Mgmt and told me I’d hear back in 1/2 days - it’s been 5 and I haven’t heard a word. So I have to go purchase another fridge - thousands more.. because their product is unsafe and defective! We are not talking annoyances like ice maker not working.. this is literally a health risk - danger! There are thousands with the same issue.. when is someone going to resolve it?? Can’t tell you if anyone was injured or not yet. We definitely ate food that was not stored in correct temps. Kids drank milk as well. Wouldn’t know yet if we have a parasite or other issue from spoiled meat/ dairy. On day 5 it randomly started cooling again, no one has touched it. But none of the control panels for temp work - they don’t respond at all. I ordered thermometers to put inside until I can buy a new refrigerator.

Last week it broke down again. Now they are telling us it will be $680 to replace parts but they aren’t sure it will solve the problems. After 6 years of problems, we are trashing this piece of junk and buying a new “Not Samsung”. This refrigerator has cost us a fortune in spoiled food and repairs. There are thousands of people going through the same thing. Something needs to be done about Samsung

     I have a Samsung refrigerator model RF28HMEDBBC that was purchased in 2015. On five different occasions we have had a problem with the condenser in the refrigerator section freezing up and eventually causing the fan inside housing to stop. Generally it makes noise when the fan starts hitting the ice. About three weeks ago the noise stopped, and I thought that the refrigerator had defrosted the ice accumulation, but then I noticed that the refrigerator temperature had been running at about 49° to 55°F. The display readout was 37° and did not indicate the actual temperature. This seems an unsafe temperature for products inside. I have defrosted it myself several times and also I’ve had Samsung come out and replace the back panel nine months previous. After nine months, the same issue occurred again. My concern is the unsafe temperatures inside that I did not know about until I used an instant read temperature gun.

     Samsung Refrigerator (28 Cubic foot, french door model with refrigerated pull out convenience drawer) has failed to maintain safe temperatures (regularly running up to 20 degrees above safe thresholds) and failed to make ice. During the height of the pandemic, was forced to service this product and only Samsung repair specialists will work on their line of products. This occurred at about the 5 year age range of the refrigerator. Samsung’s techs came out multiple times. Once to review the issue, once to replace a part and another time to replace the icemaker. Had to pay for these services and take days off from work. None of them fixed any of the issues. The issues persisted and the tech gave up on trying to solve it despite having been paid for each trip and the substitute parts. Then, I filed a [REDACTED] complaint and Samsung offered a repair of the icemaker only. A couple of weeks later, they replaced the icemaker after I took a day off from work. That fix lasted a little less than 2 weeks. It is non-functional again. After another complaint, Samsung is willing to try and fix their broken and clearly unfixable product again with the exact same fix. When I advised that it needs replaced because their solution doesn’t work, I received a barrage of scheduling calls.

Then the refrigerator and freezer stopped Cooling approximately 2 months ago and then again 2 days ago food has spoiled twice hundreds of dollars of food had to be thrown out. Refrigerator and freezer are currently not working the temperature reads negative 8° in the freezer and 34 ° in the refrigerator lights and alarms are still working but you do not hear anything running. The refrigerator is silent and warm inside. I am hoping to get a full refund plus compensation for the food and medication that have spoiled.

     I purchased a Samsung refrigerator September 10, 2017. February 12,2021 I found water in the vegetable bin and called a tech who replaced the drain kit. June 22, 2022 the same issue occurred and the tech came out again - he showed me the back of the refrigerator as it had a hole in it. October 6, 2022 the freezer had total ice everywhere and was leaking onto my wood floors. The tech I usually use wasn’t available so I called [REDACTED] and a young man came out the next day. He repaired what he could and said the radiator was cracked there was an upper hair line fracture which was leaking Freon. He recommended I replace the refrigerator which I have done. I sent all the documents to Samsung’s office in San Jose, CA several times with no response. I tried communicating by email by contacting one of the Directors and kept getting responses that they couldn’t locate the model - that information was on the sale slip which I sent them. This process happened multiple times.

     2017: The refrigerator began to dispense ice, which had odd particles mixed with the ice cubes. Over time the problem got progressively worse.

     On several instances, the consumer discarded the ice from the refrigerator, in hopes it would resolve the matter, but it never did.

     2/2023: The consumer removed the ice maker and video taped it as he did. The particles were grey spec of aluminum, which appeared to fall from the middle plate of the ice maker. They were sandy-gritty flecks of aluminum. It seems that the materials from the ice-maker plates simply disintegrated over time and got progressively worse.

     2/27/2023: The consumer contacted the manufacturer through their On-Line Chat feature and reported the problem to them. Their representative (name unavailable) referred him to a company link, but the consumer wanted to know what he and his family have been consuming over the years. As the consumer questioned the rep. further, the rep. agreed to send a technician out to examine the consumer’s refrigerator. Once again, the consumer more interested in asking what he and his family had been consuming and was persistent with his point. The representative did not answer that question. The consumer informed the rep. that the firm could bring him a new refrigerator, but his concern was for his family’s health. The rep. did not indicate that they would provide a new refrigerator.

     At this time, the consumer is unsure if he and his family may experience any adverse health issues from this problem.

They did not notify me of these TSBs before my purchase and the first time the tech came out to fix the refrigerator (ice maker) he said these (Samsung french door) refrigerators fail like this all the time! I have known water to leak out the front onto my kitchen floor where my wife or kids could slip.

     Samsung refrigerator model #: RF28HMEDBSR/AA is not cooling and the ice maker is not working. The current temperature in my refrigerator is 51 degrees. Samsung repaired the ice maker and my home warranty company repaired the cooling fans in June/ July 2022, just 7 months ago and now both are broken again. The cooling fans have been replaced 4 times in the past 7years. Each repair was made by my home warranty company at a cost $100 deductible each time. I have lost all my food in my refrigerator each time as everything has spoiled. My son opened his yogurt last night to find it completely liquid and spoiled. This is a health and safety hazard. Luckily my son is old enough to know that the yogurt was bad. This is our refrigerator in our kitchen used by our entire family. I called Samsung and asked them to fix my refrigerator and they told me that they if they send a tech out to fix the ice maker and find out that it’s not working due to the cooling system that I will be responsible for the cost of repairs. The ice maker is currently on recall. Both of these are know issues with this particular model. There is currently a class action lawsuit against Samsung for these very same issues that I have been experiencing for several years and currently. At this point due the refrigerator failing twice in the past 7 months and loosing all my food, I would like Samsung to replace my refrigerator with a new one that is free from any known defects.

     I have Samsung French Door refrigerator RF263BEAESR with an ongoing temperature control issue. The ice maker and evaporator fan ice up, preventing air from circulating to cool the unit. The refrigerator is set to 35 degrees F and this temp displayed this on the external monitor. However, I’ve checked the internal temp with an independent thermometer and refrigerator cools to just 46.4 degrees F. My foods spoils quickly and is unsafe to eat!! The ice maker has been turned off and this doesn’t help the issue. Also, I must defrost the fridge every couple of months, which provides temp relief.

     2/2/2023: The refrigerator’s icemaker auger motor, started running on its own. The consumer heard the noise, but by the time she identified the problem, smoke was emitting from the refrigerator portion.

     She immediately tripped the breaker for the refrigerator.

     The consumer called the manufacturer and a technician was sent out. When he removed the ice maker’s motor, it was completely burned and there were burn marks inside the refrigerator as well..

     The manufacturer’s rep. offered to replace the motor in the ice maker, but the consumer declined that office, because of her fire concern. The rep. then offered her a partial refund amount, but after a couple discussions, the company increased the offer to $1308.00. The consumer is still in discussion with the firm to see if they will expand the offer.

     She lost all of her food (approx. $400.00), 1.) because she had no place to store it and 2.) because the food contained smoke and burn odors.

     When she purchased the refrigerator

     • The first year she owned the refrigerator, the ice maker had to be replaced. • The ice maker also had to be replaced the 2nd year that she owned the refrigerator. • During a different year, a 3rd repair was needed, where the refrigerator had to be caulked, to reseal the ice maker and prevent the refrigerator from leaking.

     Our Samsung refrigerator has stopped working and cooling several times, even though the digital display reads an appropriate temperature. Four times now, Samsung certified technicians sent by Samsung have “fixed” it, but it continues to break down, without warning. Although our digital temperature reading shows that it’s 34 degrees in the fridge, it’s actually 52 degrees. We have medicine that must be kept at a cool enough temperature. Samsung has been notified of this issue over and over by myself and others, and has yet to make appropriate changes to its product to make it reliable and safe.

     Samsung refrigerator RF28K9070SG/AA continues to fail after power outage. Despite numerous attempts to troubleshoot from all guidance available, the refrigerator simply does not power on and work to cool. It takes minimum 24 hours or more to begin working on it’s own. Separately the icemaker often fails, which also happens on a second smaller version of the same model. Water then leaks out, food goes warm, melts, spoils, ice not produced, etc. Had to purchase backup refrigerator for these instances. This has happened at least 3-4 times in the past year. Problems started about 4-5 yrs after purchase and the warranty was no longer valid. Manufacture not helpful to resolve issue. Repair services and/or replacement parts are several hundred dollars.

     The ice maker freezes and water leaks from the refrigerator onto the floor. The problem has been going on since 2014, when the refrigerator was purchased.

     The refrigerator has been serviced for this issue approximately 6 – 7, or more times. When ice builds up, the refrigerator stops making ice all together. The consumer said that someone could fall and slip on the water that leaks from the refrigerator. This may also create a possible electric hazard with the product.

     The motherboard has been replaced within the last 6 months, but the problem has returned again. Furthermore, other repairs have lasted approximately 1 – 2 months, before the problem returns.

     NOTE: Other home owners in the apartment complex, who have this manufacturer’s brand of refrigerator, have mentioned a similar problem to the consumer. Additionally, many of the local service technicians that he has contacted, have indicated that they no longer repair this brand of refrigerators.

     Our Samsung refrigerator (model: RF22R7351SR/AA serial no: 0B2H43AMC00447T) does not keep safe temperatures, though the electronics panel indicates otherwise. For a while, it seemed like meat had been spoiling in the fridge faster than usual, but it took us a while to be suspicious of the fridge. Last week we bought a refrigerator thermometer and confirmed that the fridge was fluctuating between temperatures close to what it was set at (37 degrees) and temperatures over 50 degrees. By this week, it has significantly worsened and now routinely maintains temperatures over 60 degrees. The electronics panel indicates it is set to 37. Also of note is that the freezer steadily maintains a temperature of about -10 degrees. This is a single compressor model, so compressor failure does not appear to be able to account for the issue. In hindsight, we believe symtpoms we have experienced over the past year or so were likely mild food poisoning. Unfortunately, past interactions and media reports regarding other consumers with similar issues all suggest that Samsung is unwilling or unable to address this or other issues with their fridges (this is one of 3 significant issues we have had and cannot get fixed, but this is the only one that poses a safety concern - the others concern ice maker issues and a leaky pitcher accessory).

     Our 2015 Samsung French door refrigerator (purchased in 2016) can’t maintain a consistent temperature and the temperature we set it at is about 5-6 degrees from what it is registering internally with a thermometer. We have to set it at the lowest settings (34-36) degrees to maintain temperatures under 40. The coils and fans also freeze up about every 6-12 months and we have to unplug it, take off the back, and defrost with a hairdryer or it takes days to completely defrost. The most recent issue was the top coils freezing up and keeping the fan from recirculating; previously, the large coils completely froze up but we added additional copper wiring as recommended by an online repair person over the bottom coils and that seems to have helped.
