Made Sep 30, 2026, sent to the company Oct 7, 2026, published by CPSC Oct 22, 2026

The product, in the report: Samsung French-door refrigerator, Model No. RF27T5201SR/AA, Serial No. 0B4J4BCTC01737H, manufactured December 2022. Stainless steel finish, 27 cu ft capacity, three-door French-door configuration with a bottom freezer drawer and an external water-ice dispenser. Approximate dimensions, 35 3/4 inches wide by 35 3/8 inches deep by 70 inches high, with handles and hinges. Standard full-size residential kitchen refrigerator, installed new in the home in April 2023.

“On September 10, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the upper door of our Samsung French-door refrigerator (Model RF27T5201SR/AA, Serial No. 0B4J4BCTC01737H, manufactured December 2022) completely detached from its hinges without warning and fell to the kitchen floor. The door fell in close proximity to me, creating a serious risk of injury. Refrigerated contents stored in the door bins, including glass containers, were thrown across the floor and broke on impact. While cleaning the area, I sustained a laceration/puncture injury to my foot from broken glass. Since the incident, we have been unable to safely secure the door and have had to hold it shut with duct tape as a temporary measure, as no permanent repair has been made. We have young children and pets who are regularly near the refrigerator. This unit also experienced a separate, intermittent ice maker malfunction approximately two to three months before this incident. The refrigerator was installed new in April 2023 and has only ever been used for normal residential purposes.”

The product, in the report: Samsung 32CU refrigerator RF32CG5300SR

Purchased Fridge in May 2026. It is currently October 2026 and the freezer is no longer cooling, however the fridge is cold. I called samsung and they verified the compressor/cooling fan had stopped working. I worked with them to get this set up for repair. They insisted that we can only utilize the service company they provide, which is based in a state in a complete different timezone. I asked to get this switched since they do not have availability during the time I can get the repair and was placed with a separate company that never responded to the request and the number did not show up as that company. I called samsung back and they have now moved it back to the first company and are insisting I have to utilize them and go another 1.5 weeks without repair. Since the company will only hand service calls on Monday. I tried escalating and samsung repeatedly hung up the phone. At this point samsung and NISI are not working to correct the cooling error in my fridge and all my groceries have been spoiled. After review I have noted multiple [REDACTED] claims with both companies regarding this fridge and the same issue with the cooling fan. Additionally, the thermostat in the fridge is reading incorrectly and stating the freezer is currently at -8, however the ice cream and popsicles are soup.

The product, in the report: Fridge

I am filing this formal report to document a severe, unmitigated consumer safety hazard regarding a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator. The freezer compartment of this premium appliance suffered a catastrophic system failure, causing internal temperatures to skyrocket to 67F. This failure has caused total spoilage of stored provisions, creating an active biological hazard and a severe public health risk within my household.Compounding this mechanical failure is an alarming display of corporate negligence and deceptive consumer practices. Diagnostics indicate that the cooling loops are physically capable of functioning (evidenced by a brief post-reset drop to 36F), but the appliance’s internal logic, switching valves, or software control loops are fundamentally defective, causing the unit to stall and climb back to a hazardous 39F.When I contacted Samsung Support to report an active, escalating property damage and food safety crisis, frontline corporate representatives deliberately terminated the phone call and hung up on me to prevent me from obtaining a mandatory 10-digit emergency service ticket. Samsung is actively using its customer support channels to insulate itself from warranty liabilities, intentionally blocking consumers from reporting hazardous appliance failures.STATUTORY BREACHES & REQUIRED GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION:Samsung Electronics America is actively violating basic consumer protection laws, failing to honor its implied warranty of merchantability, and allowing defective engineering to introduce spoiled, bacteria-ridden biological waste into American homes. Furthermore, their staff’s practice of hanging up on consumers during an active appliance emergency constitutes an unfair and deceptive trade practice under North Carolina law.I request that your agency launch an immediate inquiry into Samsungs home appliance failure rates and corporate support protocols. I demand that Samsung corporate escalations immediately bypass local contractor delays, dispatch emergency same-day remediation, and provide comprehensive restitution for the property damage and spoiled provisions caused by their defective machine.

The product, in the report: French Door Refrigerator Stainless steel, 28 cubic foot, 70” H x 36.5” D x 35.75”W

On August 22nd, 2026, I had just gotten a glass of ice and water from my Samsung refrigerator. As I began to take my first drink, I found a jagged piece of white plastic in my ice. It frightened me because I almost swallowed it. I turned off the icemaker and poured all the ice into a plugged sink to search for more pieces and told my family not to use the icemaker. Immediately, I called the phone number on the inside of my refrigerator. I spoke with [REDACTED], told her everything that happened and sent her my purchase tickets from Home Depot on Kingston Pike in Knoxville, TN along with a photograph of the piece of plastic next to a tape measure indicating the size of the piece. She provided me with a ticket number ([REDACTED]) and said someone would contact me within two days. I took notes instead of recording the conversation since my refrigerator was still under the manufacturer’s warranty. After not hearing from Samsung for three days, I called and spoke with [READCTED] and learned my “event” had been closed because no one was able to “reach” me. I had been checking all emails, voice mails, texts, and junk mail because the issue was critical. On August 26th, no one would answer the phone, and I was directed to text mail. I recorded the conversation with [REDACTED] , mentioning everything that happened and with whom I had spoken. I shared the previous ticket number, [REDACTED] I was given by [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] gave me another ticket number, [REDACTED]and told me this issue had been escalated and I would be contacted. Today, September 9th, I have still not heard from Samsung and cannot use my icemaker.

The product, in the report: Samsung 28 cu. ft. Family Hub 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with in-door ice maker and through-the-door ice/water dispenser, stainless steel finish. Free-standing residential refrigerator, approximately 36 inches wide and 70 inches tall. Model RF28NHEDBSR/AA. The defective component is the in-door ice maker assembly and its ice room housing, which feeds the exterior dispenser on the left-hand French door.

Samsung 28 cu. ft. Family Hub 4-Door French Door refrigerator, model RF28NHEDBSR/AA, serial 0A3K43BKA00371A. Purchased new from Home Depot in December 2018. Used normally in the kitchen of a private residence by adult members of the household.

THE DEFECT: The in-door ice maker repeatedly freezes over. The ice room frosts and fills with a solid mass of ice, the ice bucket seizes in place and cannot be removed, and the auger jams. When the dispenser is used in this condition, it discharges liquid water instead of ice, without warning, onto the person standing at the dispenser and onto the floor below.

THE HAZARD: Water pools on a hard kitchen floor directly in front of the refrigerator, in the exact spot where a person stands to use the dispenser. A member of my household has slipped on water discharged by this dispenser. No medical treatment was required. The hazard recurs continuously because the underlying defect has never been corrected. Guests and family members, including older adults, use this dispenser without any warning that it may discharge water instead of ice.

MANUFACTURER KNOWLEDGE: Samsung has documented this exact failure mode in its own [REDACTED], which states that the ice room housing allows warm, humid air to leak into the compartment, causing condensation and heavy ice formation.

REPAIR HISTORY - ALL FAILED: I contacted Samsung support on at least three separate occasions. Samsung performed service under [REDACTED], repair completed July 11, 2022. I separately hired an independent appliance technician at my own expense. In August and September 2026, having exhausted Samsung’s channels, I purchased and installed genuine Samsung OEM replacement parts myself: ice maker assembly DA97-15217B and ice bucket DA97-14474C. The defect returned after every one of these repairs.

The manufacturer’s warranty expired December 31, 2019, but the defect was present and known to Samsung before that date. Samsung has not offered a permanent remedy, a replacement, or a refund.

The product, in the report: Samsung Family Hub French Door Refrigerator (Model: RF22N9781SG/AA)

I have been in touch with Samsung customer service directly multiple times since July 16th, 2026 opening 4 tickets regarding my Samsung Family Hub French Door Refrigerator (Model: RF22N9781SG/AA). 3 tickets were closed without resolution or checking in with me, nor contact from or appointment availability by their designated service provider. Today is August 25, 2026. Ticket numbers are [REDACTED]opened 7/16/26, [REDACTED] opened 8/18/26, [REDACTED] opened 8/25/26 at [REDACTED] pm est, then [REDACTED] the same day at [REDACTED] pm est using their AI support feature (which for the first time sent me an email confirmation referencing the ticket number, unlike the disjointed and unrelated series of texts when opening all previous tickets). Samsung and their service provider have been unable to schedule a repair for the defective ice maker, refrigeration unit and freezer which have caused food spoilage issues for over a month. This specific lineup of Samsung refrigerators has been widely cited in public consumer safety databases for cooling failures and ice maker defects.

I am reporting a systemic mechanical and electronic failure in premium Samsung refrigeration units that creates an immediate food safety hazard and financial loss. Flagship models experienced sudden, ice maker burst, catastrophic cooling system failures. A certified technician inspected the units explicitly deemed the repair an “economic total loss,” noting that installing replacement parts could not guarantee a resolution to the failure. The units completely failed to maintain safe food storage temperatures, causing rapid spoilage of household perishables. Despite the technician’s official assessment that the assets are unfixable defects, Samsung Claims Management has issued a bad-faith denial to cover or replace the units. This forces consumers to choose between running a known defective appliance that cannot maintain safe food temperatures or absorbing thousands of dollars in losses.

The product, in the report: Samsung Bespoke AI 22 cu. ft. Counter Depth 4-Door French Door Refrigerator with Zero Clearance Fit, Food Showcase Door, Dual Auto Ice Maker with Sphere Ice, in White Glass. The reported issue involves the Sphere Ice produced by the refrigerator’s ice-making system.

I purchased a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator in December 2025. Approximately four months later, I discovered visible white solid particles remaining after the refrigerator’s whiskey ice melted. The particles did not dissolve in the melted water and did not dissolve when rubbed or warmed in my hand.

I contacted Samsung and was initially advised to replace the water filter. I replaced the filter, reset the ice maker, and flushed the system several times. In July 2026, I checked the whiskey ice again and found the same white, non-dissolving particles.

I contacted Samsung again and requested an inspection. During the service visit, a Samsung-authorized technician melted the ice and personally observed the white solid particles remaining in the water. The technician also handled the particles and confirmed that they did not simply dissolve in his hand. Samsung then authorized replacement of the relevant ice-making component.

After the component was replaced, the white particles no longer appeared in the ice.

I do not know the chemical composition of the particles and am not claiming that they were toxic. However, this ice was intended for human consumption, and my family had consumed ice produced by this refrigerator for several months before the source of the unidentified material was corrected. I am reporting this as a potential product safety issue because unidentified, non-dissolving material appeared to be entering consumable ice from an internal refrigerator/ice-making component.

I have photographs showing the particles, although I no longer have a physical sample.

The product, in the report: Product Category: Home Appliances Product Type: Refrigerator / Freezer (Major Appliance) Brand Name: Samsung Manufacturer / Importer: Samsung Electronics America, Inc. Model Name or Number: RF32CG5400SR Serial Number: 0BXJ4BCY603526B

PRODUCT TYPE & USE: The product is a standard residential kitchen French-door refrigerator/freezer (Samsung Model RF32CG5400SR) used daily for household food and medical supply storage. It was plugged into a standard kitchen outlet and being used under normal operating conditions. WHAT HAPPENED & WHY I AM REPORTING: This in-warranty appliance developed a severe internal electrical short to ground (compressor winding fault) that is actively and repeatedly tripping my home’s main electrical circuit breakers. On August 12, 2026, an authorized, dispatched field technician physically inspected the unit. The technician verbally confirmed the dangerous electrical ground fault and stated that a product buyout/refund was the only safe course of action. However, the manufacturer’s corporate office overrode the safety diagnosis, refused the buyout, and ordered a heavy mechanical parts rebuild on an inherently shorted electrical chassis. Overnight, at 2:42 AM on August 13, 2026, the manufacturer’s automated system unilaterally canceled the active service ticket (#[REDACTED]) and falsified the internal code reason as a minor “Accessory Issue” to erase the digital tracking path of this electrical failure. INJURY AND POTENTIAL INJURY DETAILS: No physical injuries have occurred yet, but severe injuries may have happened or could still happen. An active ground short means raw voltage leaks directly into the appliance’s exterior metal frame, creating an immediate, severe electrical shock/electrocution hazard to anyone touching the handle, as well as a structural fire risk. Furthermore, the total loss of cooling has caused two major food spoilage incidents this month, directly compromising active household medical safety and dietary needs. The manufacturer is actively suppressing safety logs while leaving a hazardous chassis in a home.

The product, in the report: Samsung residential French-door refrigerator with a built-in automatic ice maker and through-the-door ice and water dispenser. The dispenser allows the user to select different ice settings, including Cubed Ice. The safety concern involves the ice-making dispensing system while the refrigerator is specifically set to dispense cubed ice.

I am reporting a safety concern involving a Samsung refrigerator with an ice dispenser that creates and ejects sharp, irregular pieces of ice while the refrigerator is specifically set to dispense Cubed Ice.

When Cubed Ice is selected, the dispenser does not consistently dispense ordinary ice cubes. It repeatedly produces a mixture of cubes, crushed ice, and sharp, jagged ice fragments. These fragments can eject from the dispenser with enough force to miss the drinking glass and land on the surrounding floor. This has occurred repeatedly during normal use of the refrigerator.

The problem creates multiple safety concerns. Sharp ice fragments can unexpectedly enter a drinking glass, creating a potential choking or oral-injury hazard. Other pieces eject outside the glass and fall onto the floor, creating a potential slip-and-fall hazard. This is particularly concerning in a household where a child may use or be near the refrigerator. My granddaughter is not tall enough to position her hand around the top of a glass in an attempt to contain the fragments.

I have personally resorted to placing my hand around the top of the glass while dispensing ice in an effort to prevent the fragments from flying out. Even with this precaution, pieces can escape and land on the floor. I have photographs documenting the irregular and jagged ice fragments produced while the refrigerator is set to Cubed Ice, including pieces that have landed on the floor.

I reported this problem to Samsung. On July 24, 2026, I participated in a live video support session with a Samsung representative. During that session, I demonstrated the refrigerator and ice dispenser in real time. The representative was able to observe the condition directly through the video call. Despite observing the dispenser’s operation, I was told that what was occurring was normal and that the matter would be escalated to management.

I subsequently escalated the safety concern to Samsung and specifically explained the potential choking, oral-injury, and slip-and-fall hazards. Samsung’s Extra Care representative acknowledged in writing the safety issues I described, including the potential slip hazard from ice accumulating on the floor and my concern regarding sharp ice fragments being dispensed while the unit is set to Cubed Ice.

Nevertheless, Samsung declined to provide a no-cost inspection or repair because the refrigerator is outside the manufacturer’s warranty and instead offered to arrange a service appointment at my expense.

My concern is not simply that an older appliance requires repair. My concern is that a refrigerator being operated normally and specifically set to dispense Cubed Ice repeatedly produces and ejects sharp, irregular ice fragments, that Samsung observed the condition through live video support, and that Samsung subsequently acknowledged the reported safety concerns while declining to inspect or correct the condition without charge because of warranty status.

I am submitting this report so that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission can document and evaluate this potential product safety hazard and determine whether similar incidents or complaints involving Samsung refrigerator ice-dispensing systems have been reported.

Photographs documenting the ice fragments and relevant written communications with Samsung are available and can be provided with this report.

The product, in the report: Samsung French-Door Refrigerator with a built-in ice maker compartment located inside the main refrigerator section. The appliance is stainless steel, standard residential kitchen size, and features a dual-door configuration on top with a freezer drawer on the bottom. Its primary purpose is residential food storage and automated drinking ice production

The internal structural insulation of my three-year-old Samsung refrigerator’s ice maker compartment has failed, causing a permanent air leak. Warm, ambient room air constantly infiltrates the freezing compartment, leading to severe condensation, moisture buildup, and active black mold growth on the permanent internal [REDACTED] insulation block. Because this mold is growing directly inside the ice-making assembly, it has biologically contaminated the drinking ice supply. Ingesting or breathing mold spores from this defective appliance poses an immediate respiratory and health hazard to my two young minor children. Samsung has issued technical service bulletins acknowledging this specific structural air leak design defect (Service Bulletin ASC20170602002) but refuses to remediate the health hazard for consumers outside the standard warranty period.

I found out that the refrigerator had turned off and wasn’t powered at all. I checked the outlet and confirmed that it was disabled - the circuit breaker had tripped. Upon looking inside the refrigerator, I noticed a burnt smell inside. I was able to isolate it to the icemaker. Upon pulling out the ice bucket, I saw that it was half full, with some melted ice on the bottom and a black substance that appears to be sooth coating the sides of the bucket.

In 2023 the refrigerator started completely freezing in the back and the whole bottom of the fridge under the deli tray drawer becomes a thick ice sheet and if not taken out it melts and there is water all over the bottom of the fridge!! The refrigerator has always made popping noises and the temperature goes up and down and food spoils before expiring date especially milk. Alot of people have the same complaints for the same issues Samsung needs to be held responsible for selling defective refrigerators made cheaply at an expensive price Never buying Samsung again

I am reporting a potential food-safety hazard involving my Samsung refrigerator. Product: Samsung refrigerator Model: RF25HMIDBSR/AA Serial number: 0B7R4BBR400363 The refrigerator consistently fails to maintain a safe internal temperature and remains above 45F, despite normal use and temperature adjustments. The FDA recommends keeping refrigerators at 40F or below to help prevent dangerous bacterial growth. As a result, perishable food stored in this appliance may spoil or become unsafe without any visible warning, creating a potential risk of foodborne illness. This appears consistent with numerous publicly reported Samsung refrigerator cooling problems involving temperature irregularities, evaporator icing, airflow failures, and refrigerators that cannot safely store food. A federal class-action complaint, [REDACTED] et al. v. Samsung Electronics America, Inc., also alleges that certain Samsung French-door refrigerators failed to maintain safe food-storage temperatures. I contacted Samsung and escalated the matter to its Office of the President. Samsung stated that diagnostic fees would be reimbursed only if an authorized technician classified the failure as a sealed-system problem. However, consumers cannot determine whether the failure involves the sealed system, evaporator, fan, sensor, control board, or another internal component. This policy may discourage consumers from obtaining necessary repairs or reporting a potentially unsafe product. I request that the CPSC investigate whether this model or related Samsung refrigerators have a systemic cooling defect, whether Samsung knew of the problem, and whether a safety warning, recall, repair program, replacement, or reimbursement remedy is warranted. I can provide temperature logs, photographs, purchase records, Samsung correspondence, technician reports, and documentation of food loss upon request.

The product, in the report: Samsung French Door Refrigerator, Model RF28HMEDBSR/AA, Serial Number 065L43BJ600447J. Stainless steel finish, French door configuration with bottom freezer drawer. 28 cubic foot capacity. Manufactured June 2017 in Korea. Purchased new from Conn’s Home Plus, Store #154, Phoenix, AZ on August 25, 2017 for $1,999.99. Refrigerant: R-134a. The refrigerator features a built-in ice maker in the upper left door compartment and an internal temperature display panel.

My Samsung French Door Refrigerator (Model RF28HMEDBSR/AA, Serial 065L43BJ600447J, manufactured June 2017) experienced a complete compressor failure at approximately 7 years of age. The refrigerator stopped cooling entirely while the internal temperature display continued to show normal temperatures (35F), creating a false sense of food safety. The actual interior temperature was significantly warmer, posing a food spoilage and potential foodborne illness risk. The refrigerator was being used as intended for household food and beverage storage in a residential home. No physical injuries occurred, however the deceptive temperature display prevented timely awareness of the failure, resulting in potential food safety hazards and significant food loss. Additionally, the ice maker has required multiple replacements throughout the life of the appliance and continues to malfunction despite repeated repairs. This is a known defect in this product line. Upon investigation, the compressor was found to have failed. This model (RF28HMEDBSR/AA) is among those specifically named in class action litigation regarding Samsung refrigerators failing to maintain safe temperatures. Both the recurring ice maker failures and the compressor failure appear consistent with known widespread defects in this product line affecting thousands of consumers. That covers both issues and ties it to the known defect pattern which strengthens your complaint.

I purchased a Samsung French Door refrigerator, model #RF28JBEDBSG/AA in February 2019. The refrigerator has a 10-year warranty on the compressor. On June 8, 2026, I noticed that the food in my freezer started thawing, and condensation was building up in the refrigerator on all of my food. On Tuesday morning, I noticed a loud rattling noise coming from the refrigerator that eventually stopped. Upon checking inside the freezer, most of my food was completely thawed but still cold. I immediately called Samsung and that’s where my nightmare began. I was told that the refrigerator was out of warranty. I explained that the compressor has a 10-year warranty and that was the problem. The refrigerator was manufactured in 2018 and I bought it in February 2019. I’ve only had it for a little over seven years so the compressor is still under warranty. The representative referred me to service center, Service Quick, to have someone come out to diagnose the problem. When I called to schedule the service call, I was told I had to pay $140 upfront before the service technician would come out. The first time I tried to pay, the service center’s pay online feature did not work. I was told that a manager would call me back to take my payment over the phone. I waited for the manager to call and about an hour later, no call back. I called again and this time there was a message that the service center was closed due to system problems even though it was early afternoon. I never received a call back on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, I called again. The representative sent me a link to my email to make the $140, which I paid. The service technician couldn’t come out until the next day, Thursday at which point I’d been without refrigeration for three days. I cleaned out all of the spoiled food which nearly filled up a 33 gallon trash bag. I salvaged a few items from the refrigerator and freezer. My son brought his camping freezer to store some of the items and I had to take a small amout of food to my daughter’s house eleven miles away. On Thursday, the service technician came out, opened the refrigerator, pointed an instrument towards the back panel and told me that the code on his instrument indicated that the compressor and the sealed-system might have to be replaced which could cost between $1,000 and $1,300. When I told him that the compressor is still under warranty, he said that I would have to call Samsung back to let them know and to find out if they were going to pay for the parts. He said that I probably will still have to pay for the labor. After much frustration, I became distraught, because I’m a seventy-one year old woman on a fixed income, and have no way of knowing how I am to pay for this service, especially since the compressor is still under warranty. I called Samsung back that same day and the customer service rep assure me that I should not have to pay for the parts and that she would call Service Quick to let them know and get back to me via text message. She never called me back on Thursday. On Friday, I called Samsung again and got a different representative. This time, the representative kept saying that the refrigerator is out of warranty. I kept explaining that the compressor is not out of warranty and that I was told the previous day that the parts would be covered by Samsung. She again, said that the refrigerator is only covered for one year and again I told her, however the compressor is covered for 10 years. She kept referring back to the out of warranty. After much frustration, I decided to hang up and try again the next day. On Saturday I called Samsung again and explained my problem. The representative told me she would give me a new service ticket that I believed was to cover parts. She said I could call Service Quick, give them the new ticket number, however, Service Quick is closed on weekends. At that point, I’d had no refrigeration for six days. On Monday, I called Service Quick and again, they said I would have to pay for parts and labor! I told them that Samsung was paying for the parts. They said that it wasn’t in their system that the parts were being covered by Samsung and then I received a text message from Samsung Support stating “Thank you for your patience. The technician provided a rough estimate of $1,000 to $1,200, as they were not yet certain whether the compressor will be covered. A new service ticket has been created for you. The service center has informed us that their CSR team will contact you directly to provide a full estimate for the sealed-system repair. This estimate will include all parts that may be required, including both evaporator coils.” I was completely confused. I called Samsung again to try to gain clarity about what was happening and the representative, again, stated that since the refrigerator is out of warranty, I would have to pay for the parts for the sealed-system even though the compressor is still under warranty. At that point, I asked to speak to a manager, which of course she wasn’t available and would have to call me back. Unfortunately, when she called, I missed her call. When I tried to call back, I had to go through the same calling cycle as before but when I asked for an agent, the call dropped. I called a second time, the call dropped! After the third attempt, the call dropped again. I’m at a complete loss. My nerves are bad, I’m stressed out and don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t afford to buy a new refrigerator and shouldn’t have to. Upon doing my own research, this is what I’ve learned: The compressor is a crucial and foundational component of the refrigerator’s sealed system. The sealed system is the entire closed-loop network that contains the refrigerant. It is made up of several connected parts working together to cool the fridge:Compressor: Acts as the “heart” or engine, pumping the refrigerant through the system.Condenser: Coils located on the outside of the fridge that release heat.Evaporator: Coils inside the fridge that absorb the heat and create the cold air.Filter-drier / Tubing: Captures moisture and moves refrigerant between components.Because these parts are permanently welded shut at the factory to prevent refrigerant from leaking, a failure in any one of them requires specialized sealed system repairs. If the compressor goes bad, the entire sealed system has to be replaced. The Service repair that Samsung contracts, is trying to make me pay for the condenser, evaporator, filter-drier/tubing and said that Samsung is going to pay for the compressor. The entire system is one unit. I’ve lost several nights sleep and peace of mind, not to mention over $300 in food as well as having to eat out, which for me, who eats mainly a plant-based diet, has been extremely difficult.

The product, in the report: Samsung side-by-side refrigerator. Icemaker on front stainless steel

I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding a Samsung refrigerator that we purchased less than one year ago.

From the very first day, the ice maker has never functioned properly. I contacted Samsung customer service multiple times, and each time I was instructed to unplug the refrigerator, allow it to fully defrost, clean out the ice maker, and wait 24 hours before restarting it. We followed these instructions several times, but the issue was never permanently resolved.

Unfortunately, the problems have since become much worse. The freezer stopped working entirely, causing all of the food inside to spoil. Shortly afterward, the refrigerator itself also failed, resulting in all refrigerated food being ruined as well. Altogether, we have had to discard nearly $1,000 worth of food due to this appliance failure.

In addition to the financial loss from spoiled food, this situation has created a significant inconvenience and ongoing expense for our family. Because the refrigerator is not functioning, we have been forced to eat out daily, which is becoming extremely costly. To make matters worse, we have been unable to secure a service technician in a timely manner through Samsung.

I am also extremely concerned about a new issue: there is now a repeated clicking noise coming from the back of the refrigerator that sounds similar to electrical sparking. This raises serious concerns about a potential fire hazard and the overall safety of the appliance.

Given the repeated failures, financial losses, and safety concerns, I am requesting immediate action from Samsung to resolve this matter. I expect a prompt response regarding repair, replacement, or reimbursement for damages caused by this defective unit.

I would appreciate your urgent attention to this matter.

The product, in the report: Samsung Refrigerator 3 door

I purchased this refrigerator in January 2020. Since then, I have experienced repeated issues with the ice maker freezing over, solid ice accumulating behind the ice maker compartment, loud grinding and other noises coming from the rear of the unit and the ice maker area, and failures in the freezer’s cooling performance. A replacement refrigerator was previously provided because of ongoing defects, but similar problems continued with the replacement unit. Most recently, the refrigerator stopped freezing properly while also producing loud noises that appear to be related to ice buildup and interference with the fan. Despite these recurring issues, I was required to pay approximately $223 in out-of-pocket service call fees. I am concerned about food spoilage, inaccurate temperature control, potential water leakage, and the overall reliability and safety of the product.

Product: Samsung Refrigerator Model Number - RF18HFENBSR-US Incident Date: April 22, 2026 On April 22, 2026, my Samsung refrigerator overheated inside my home to the point that cardboard egg cartons stored inside the refrigerator compartment began smoking. I discovered smoke coming from inside the refrigerator and immediately unplugged the appliance because I was concerned about a possible fire hazard inside my home. The incident was especially alarming because the refrigerator was operating in an occupied residence shared with a family member. The refrigerator was approximately six years old at the time of the incident and had been used under normal household conditions. After I reported the incident, Samsung sent a technician to inspect the refrigerator. Following the inspection, Samsung informed me that the company wanted to retrieve the refrigerator for further investigation of the overheating and smoke-related incident. Since the incident occurred, I have fully cooperated with Samsungs process and preserved the refrigerator specifically because I understood the importance of allowing further investigation of a potential fire-hazard event involving a household appliance. During this time, my household experienced prolonged loss of normal refrigeration and freezer use, requiring temporary food storage measures and eventual purchase of a replacement refrigerator. Samsung later offered me a prorated refund of $433.16, conditioned upon signing Terms and Conditions that included a broad release of all current and future claims related to the incident. I informed Samsung that I was not comfortable signing those Terms and Conditions in their current form. Importantly, I never refused the refrigerator’s retrieval. To the contrary, I repeatedly requested that Samsung proceed with pickup of the appliance because I believed further investigation of the overheating incident was important. Samsung scheduled the pickup of the refrigerator for May 22, 2026. However, after I declined to sign the proposed settlement and release agreement, no one arrived to retrieve the refrigerator on the scheduled pickup date. To preserve the refrigerator for Samsungs requested retrieval and investigation, I also arranged and paid to have the appliance moved from my kitchen to the backyard for temporary storage while awaiting pickup. I am submitting this report because I believe the overheating and smoke-related incident involving this refrigerator represents a potentially serious consumer safety concern that should be documented and reviewed. As of May 26, 2026, Samsung has still not retrieved the refrigerator, despite previously stating that further investigation into the overheating and smoke-related incident was important. I am concerned about the manner in which this safety-related case has been handled, including the apparent connection between retrieval of the appliance and my agreement to sign a broad settlement and release document.

This unit failed twice within the same month and ultimately proved to be unrepairable. This situation has caused substantial financial loss, repeated disruption to my household, and an unacceptable burden on my ability to care for my 4-year-old child. Below is a clear timeline of events demonstrating both the product failure and the inadequate service experience: March 1, 2026-I noticed that items in the freezer were becoming soft, indicating the unit was not maintaining a safe temperature. I was forced to discard two full trash bags of food. March 4, 2026-A service technician visited and “repaired” the issue. He advised that the refrigerator was leaking [REDACTED], likely due to a factory defect, and stated that if the issue recurred, the unit would require replacement. March 626, 2026-I repurchased frozen and refrigerated food items through both delivery and in-store purchases. March 27, 2026-Just one day after a major freezer restocking, the freezer began failing again. I contacted support but they were unable to schedule service due to a pending $140 compensation request from the prior visit. I was instructed to call back on Monday. By this point, both the refrigerator and freezer were no longer maintaining safe temperatures, and I was forced to discard all contentstotaling eight full trash bags of food. March 30, 2026-I spent the majority of the day going back and forth with customer support to cancel the prior compensation request so that a new service appointment could be scheduled. April 1, 2026- I took a full day off work for the scheduled appointment, only to be notified that morning that the technician would not be arriving. I requested to speak to management of Service Quick and was denied the request, I have yet to hear from a supervisor after multiple complaints. The treatment of their customers is absolutely abysmal. April 2, 2026- After being forced to take an additional day off work, a technician arrived and determined the unit was unrepairable. April 3, 2026- I initiated a compensation request for the failed unit and was informed that processing would take 810 business days. April 7, 2026- Due to the urgency of the situation, I was forced to purchase a replacement refrigerator out of pocket.

For 11 days, my family was left without a functioning refrigerator. During this time, I was unable to safely store food, resulting in extensive spoilage including essential staples necessary to feed my child (dairy, meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit, etc.). This was not just financially burdensomeit was a daily logistical challenge to ensure my 4-year-old had safe, consistent meals. No customer should be put in this position due to a defective product. Additionally, we incurred significant costs from dining out, as we typically prepare ~90% of our meals at home.

The product, in the report: Samsung refrigerator model RF27CG5900SRAA. The product is a full size french door household refrigerator with a bottom freezer drawer. The exterior color is stainless steel. The refrigerator includes a digital Family Hub screen on the front door and an internal ice maker water dispenser and multiple electronic temperature controls. The unit is designed for residential kitchen food storage and refrigeration. Manufactured October 2023.

I am reporting a consumer safety concern involving a Samsung refrigerator that failed in a way that compromised food safety without warning.

The product is a Samsung refrigerator model RF27CG5900SRAA manufactured October 2023. The unit experienced multiple major failures including an ice maker failure in July 2024 a sealed system failure in August 2025 and a complete loss of cooling due to a control board failure in April 2026. The refrigerator and freezer stopped maintaining safe temperatures.

This issue presents a health and safety risk because the refrigerator Family Hub temperature display does not reliably show accurate internal temperatures. The temperature only updates after restarting the refrigerator. Because of this there was no indication that cooling had failed when it actually occurred. Food spoiled without warning and unsafe food could have been consumed.

My household includes a young child and the inability to detect unsafe food temperatures creates a serious safety concern. Consumers rely on refrigerators to accurately preserve food and indicate safe storage conditions. A refrigerator that loses cooling while misreporting temperatures creates a hidden health risk.

The refrigerator has been non functional for more than two weeks while repairs are pending. Repeated failures combined with inaccurate temperature reporting create an unsafe condition rather than a normal appliance malfunction. I believe this issue warrants review due to potential food safety hazards.

Ice maker freezes over completely due to a known manufacturing defect. Samsung has been subject to class action litigation over this issue. The defect causes the ice maker to become inoperable and may cause water leakage, potential water damage, and electrical risk.

UPDATED ON 3/19/2026: [Description of Risk of Harm:

The ice maker on my Samsung refrigerator has completely frozen over due to what appears to be a known manufacturing defect — one that has affected a significant number of Samsung refrigerator owners and has been the subject of prior class action litigation.

The specific risks associated with this defect include:

    1. Water Damage — As ice builds up beyond the ice maker compartment, it melts and leaks onto flooring, cabinetry, and surrounding areas, creating risk of serious property damage and potential mold growth.

    2. Slip and Fall Hazard — Water pooling on kitchen floors from the leak creates a slip and fall risk for household members, including children and elderly individuals.

    3. Electrical Risk — Water leaking from a frozen-over ice maker can migrate toward electrical components inside and beneath the refrigerator, creating a potential shock or fire hazard.

    4. Food Safety Risk — The malfunction affects the overall cooling performance of the refrigerator, which can compromise the safe storage temperature of perishable food items.

This is not an isolated incident. Samsung has faced widespread consumer complaints and legal action over this exact defect across multiple refrigerator models, yet continues to deny free repairs to out-of-warranty consumers despite the defect being a manufacturing issue rather than the result of normal wear and user damage.]

In the late fall last year, my wife and I came home from a weekend out of town visit to observe black smoke emitting from the icemaker auger unit in the icemaker cabinet of our Samsung French Door Refrigerator, Model RF24FSEDBSR, Serial W65043BK200404D. After removing the ice bucket, I unplugged the icemaker unit and auger, which was the apparent source of the ignition. I ordered a Samsung replacement icemaker auger “auger”, intending to replace same to keep using the refrigerator. Yesterday, a Samsung repairman came to install the auger unit, as I was not comfortable removing the old auger unit. After he removed the old auger, he was shocked to see the warping that had occurred with the auger combusting. I would like to report the danger that had occurred with this appliance.

Bought Samsung Family Smart Hub refrigerator in 2020. Consistently had issue and still having issues with ice maker, leaking, freezing up, and causing issues leaking both down the front of fridge (slip and fall accident risk) and also having been told by Samsung support to “just unplug it for a day or two and then restart the settings”. This is also causing a food spoilage risk. We had it professionally installed by Best Buy when we bought it new. It has never been repaired because we cannot get a technician to come out to look at it. We would like a refund or to have the ice maker replaced! I am selecting today’s date because once again, we are having an issue with it freezing up and we have now had to force the tray out to attempt to resolve the issue. Once again, Samsung has told us that it is not under warranty and now we will have to pay $400 for a repair for a KNOWN 2017 design defect with this refrigerator that is STILL BEING SOLD in 2026

The refrigerator was operating normally with no temperature issues. Suddenly, the display screen shattered on its own while the door remained closed. There was a strong burning smell. My child was present and became extremely frightened and cried hysterically. I immediately unplugged the refrigerator due to fear of fire or electrical explosion. This is a serious electrical and safety hazard. I have video evidence of the incident. I have been trying to resolve this issue with Samsung and Costco since July 2025 with no solution provided.

The product, in the report: Samsung 29 cu. ft. Bespoke 4 Door French Door Refrigerator with Family Hub Matte Black Steel

We purchased a Samsung Family Hub refrigerator in February 2025. Since installation, the refrigerator has had multiple serious safety and performance issues.

The refrigerator is electrically unsafe. On multiple occasions, family members have experienced electric shock when touching the refrigerator or freezer doors. The refrigerator doors create a pinch hazard. My childs fingers have repeatedly gotten stuck when closing the door, creating a serious risk of injury to a child. The freezer does not function properly. At times, all frozen food completely melts. At other times, food becomes freezer burned due to unstable temperatures. The freezer does not maintain a consistent safe temperature. Food repeatedly melts and then refreezes, causing freezer burn. This has caused repeated food loss. This has resulted in spoiled food and food waste on multiple occasions, and we have had to throw away food many times due to unsafe storage conditions. This appears to be a temperature control failure and presents a food safety risk. The top of the refrigerator shakes excessively every time the door is opened, which raises concerns about internal mechanical or electrical failure. This product presents an ongoing safety hazard to my child and my family. I have contacted the retailer multiple times requesting a return or refund due to safety risk, but they refused and told me to use warranty service only. This is not a minor repair issue but a dangerous appliance. The hazard is ongoing. My childs fingers and my own fingers continue to get stuck every time we open or close the refrigerator door and drawers. This occurs repeatedly during normal use. This is not a one-time incident. It happens daily and presents a continuous risk of finger injury to a child. Because of this ongoing pinch hazard my child and I continue to experience finger pinch incidents when opening and closing the doors and drawers and repeated incidents during normal use. This is an ongoing hazard, not a one-time event. This appliance is unsafe for continued use in our home. These issues together make the refrigerator unsafe for continued use in a household with a child.

I purchased a Samsung Bespoke refrigerator back in August 2025 and on Nov 10th, 2025, I reported that my freezer wasn’t freezing the food. A ticket was made, and a tech came out 1 week later. The tech bought a part out to fix it and we thought it was done. A few days later, the issue was still there. The tech came back out on Nov. 24, 2025, stated now that freon was leaking. He told me that this was above his experience level and now needed to go to a different specialist who handles this type of issue.

Mind you all of this taking place close to Thanksgiving, so I had to throw out ALL of my freezer food. I was compensated for the freezer food. Over the days, my whole refrigerator went out so nothing was cooling. The 3rd repair was scheduled for Fri Dec 5, 2025, in which I received a text from the tech stating that he would be out, however, the time conflicted. A few minutes later, I received another text stating that the part that was ordered to repair my refrigerator was broken and that I now had to reschedule THIS apportionment. Needless to say, I am livid. I went 4 weeks with having an issue with this refrigerator, and when I called Samsung and explained this to them and asked them to compensate for the refrigerator food and to get a new refrigerator, they denied me stating that I already received compensation for the freezer. I stated that this is a new problem, which was caused by the now 4 week problem.

All I want from them is the food money and a new unit. As it is, Ive had to throw out my sons antibiotics because it had to be refrigerated, as well as $400 worth of non freezer grocery, and now having to buy fast food, because I can neither freezer or refrigerate anything. Also, I have a 2 year warranty on this item and its not quite 4 months old yet.

This has been a continual problem for years now with this Samsung Frig. Service people do not want to work on Samsung appliances. So frustrating. The coil in the rear freeze over if i lower temp below 37 degrees since milk and other food tend to spoil if i set it up higher to keep it from freezing over. Then need to pull out everything to defrost at least once a year. Thermometer i have inside frig is always higher then what the display shows by at least 5 degrees. I am not going below 32 degrees but anything under 37 degrees sets off the until to freeze the coils and then i have to manually defrost it. Yes, i always clean the dust from the rear and underneath for proper air circulation. What a pain.

Ice maker failures Fridge compartment failing to cool properly. In both cases, moisture freezes inside the unit and fails to drain, which eventually causes the ice maker to fail and/or the fridge compartment fan to make noise (as it hits the ice build up) then the fan fails and the fridge compartment cannot maintain cooling.

This has caused us to lose food and medicines due to spoilage.

Samsung refuses to acknowledge the issue even though these are known defects upon purchase.

The product, in the report: I purchased this Samsung refrigerator through Home Depot, which was delivered to me on 9/2018. Since early on, maybe a few months after receiving the refrigerator Ive been having problems with it. The icemaker has issues every few months. It goes from freezing to not making ice to melting and dripping water throughout the entire refrigerator and outside staining the stainless steel doors and the icemakers cabinet being stuck where I cannot open it. Then they had to come out because the freezer door that is supposed to be. Stainless steel started rusting for no reason. Now more recently the refrigerator fan is not cooling the refrigerator. There is always an issue with this refrigerator. Instead of Samsung, taking accountability and replacing the junkie refrigerator that theyve been called out to fix several times in the past seven years they called me today to offer me a $1000 accommodation. A technician from service quick accompany that works for Samsung came out, evaluated the situation and said that they would order the fan and come and install it in a couple days. Now an accommodation department for Samsung is calling me to tell me that the parts are on backorder and theyre not sure if theyll receive them therefore they are offering me $1019 to put towards another refrigerator.

I purchased a Samsung refrigerator, Model # RF23M8590SR/AA, Serial # 097L43BK700034X from HomeDepot that was delivered to me on 9/2018. The refrigerator has been having technical issues since a few months after it was delivered. First, it was the icemaker getting stuck, then the icemaker not producing ice, the ice melting or freezing to the point where I couldnt open the cabinet to it. Then it was the freezer door. Then the freezer light not working due to a wire that is poorly installed during manufacturing so the wire tears with time when the freezer cabinet is opened. All this with continued issues with the icemaker. More recently, the fan in the refrigerator is not working. Ive reached out to Samsung who sent a technician to check the problem. I paid them $200 to come out here to now tell me that the part is on backorder and that they dont know when theyll receive it. In fact, Samsung had an accommodation department. Call me to offer $1019 towards the refrigerator because they are not sure that theyll get the part. Ive never dealt with a brand more negligent, that lacks customer service than Samsung. Samsung will not take accountability or consider this very dangerous refrigerator a recall.

Samsung refrigerator does not cool properly, causing higher temperatures in the refrigerator than what’s advertised on the digital panel outside the door. Due to the higher temperatures, the icemakers create condensation inside the ice tray and ice gets packed making the ice machine unusable. My food was spoiling without knowledge until recently, when it became noticeable. I purchased an independent thermometer which has consistently read temperatures in the refrigerator between 59 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Reached out to Best Buy where the unit was purchased from and my extended warranty expired on August 2025. Reached out to Samsung and was told that they will not service free of charge since the unit is now out of warranty although I have very well documented 4 service repairs since January 2022 for the same issue. This is not a warranty problem. This is a defective design problem that Samsun very well knows about it and refuses to honor repairs free of charge or refund the consumer.

I have had the fridge and ice maker about 5 years and don’t know how recently this started. I don’t know if anyone is injured but my family has likely ingested some of these small pieces before I started to notice them in drinks. I removed the ice maker to investigate and can see where the pieces are likely being grinded from inside the ice bucket. I have been calling Samsung and see that this model of ice maker has been discontinued due to known issues.

It started with my ice maker freezing over a few times and I had to defrost with hair dryer and the freezer itself in defrost mode a few years after I bought new in November 2016. Eventually the ice maker stopped working completely and didnt use it anymore. Later the coils froze over in the fridge side and it wasnt cooling properly so food went bad and door panel said 34 degrees Fahrenheit and fan sounded loud and was hitting something. I had to open back panel defrost ice for hours and I also used hair dryer to finish quicker. That happened around 2022. Had to do it again last week when someone at my house got sick from eating some bad dairy product.

I will never purchase anything made by samsung or any company affiliated with Samsung ever again until they recall, replace, or refund my refrigerator with the known defective icemaker. They do not take care of their best customers. I have always had Samsung phones and tablets. I also bought the refrigerator, washer, dryer, microwave, and watch. I called and asked if there was a recall on the refrigerator and was told no. They have known for years of the problem and have done nothing to make the customer whole again. The ice maker freezes up and stops working until you defrost and clean it out. The last straw was when I found pieces of plastic in my drinking water. If it wasn’t for the [REDACTED] lid on my mug I would have swallowed them. The icemaker has completely stopped functioning and I bought a counter top icemaker. All parts replaced including a motherboard. It worked for a few weeks and froze over again. UPDATE: Samsung still refuses to compensate former customers for their defective icemakers/refrigerators. Instead, just replacing the icemaker with the same defective icemaker. Mine has been done twice already, (both times for free after warranty so they know it is a defect) taking valuable time away from me and my family for a repair that doesn’t solve the problem. It is a temporary fix till it is not. UPDATE: The food i take from my freezer the last few days has only been partially frozen. I have lowered the temp to -5 and have the same problem. UPDATE: I have placed [REDACTED] thermometers in fridge and freezer temps inside have been a roller coaster and out of safe range. Contact SS thru messaging at 13:55pm, wake up next morning to a return message from them at 02:00 am. I am afraid to eat any of the food and can not connect with a human to get it fixed or replaced. UPDATE: Texting with them all day, and now they want me to pay for service. Not paying, small claims is next. UPDATE:July 2, 2025 freezer reached a new high of 40.1F and is still set to -5F. Filed complaint with [REDACTED].

In March of 2024 I purchased a Samsung refrigerator. Mind you, this refrigerator was brand new, purchased from Best Buy. A few months I started noticing some serious issues. SEVERAL occasions where the fan was extremely loud, shaking, my fridge shutting off leading to all of my food to go bad, water BARELY pouring out, something entirely wrong with the ice maker, and the auto pour feature simply does not work and splashes water everywhere BUT the internal pitcher. At the time, my fridge was under warranty. They sent out multiple technicians, none of which followed through with their statements. The first technician came and was supposed to identify the problem. He claimed he ordered a new fridge computer, a new compressor, and a fan. The second technician came on another occasion, and I was under the impression he was to come with the items that were ordered and install them. But no, he came because apparently the last technician requested to order too many items, so he was here to re-identify the problem. On a third occasion, the same technician came with a fridge fan and claimed he fixed it. A month later, the same issues occurred, along with my fridge vigorously shaking because of the fan. I then contacted Samsung and was told that my fridge was now out of warranty and I would have to pay out of pocket. I stated that it was already a ticket that was under warranty and that it was never fixed. After over an hour of arguing, they said they would send a technician. Two weeks later of constant emails and follow ups, and I still havent been sent a technician. All while my food is constantly going bad, and who knows when Ill get salmonella or food poisoning. Samsung sure doesnt care.

I bought a Samsung refrigerator model RS28A500ASR, serial #0B804BBX201925A on 3/12/2024. My wife noticed that some food items on certain shelves were warm while others were frozen. Fortunately she noticed this before anyone ate anything that made them sick. We had to throw out most of the food and we called Samsung for repair. They sent a service person to repair it and said the “freezer fan” was defective and needed to be replaced. Although the “cooling system” had a 5 year warranty, this part was not considered part of the cooling system and we paid $361 to repair a 15 month old refrigerator. It failed in an unusual way and if someone was for example storing medication they could have been injured or a food borne illness could have occurred due to unknowingly consuming spoiled food. The product, in the report: The product is a Samsung French Door Refrigerator with the following details: Model Number: RF29BB820012AA Color: White Configuration: 3-door French door style with a bottom freezer Capacity: 28.8 cu. ft. total (refrigerator + freezer) Dimensions: Approx. 35 3/4 W x 70 H x 34 1/4 D Features: AutoFill Water Pitcher (built-in) Dual Auto Ice Maker (Cubed + Ice Bites) Wi-Fi connectivity with SmartThings app support LED control panel and internal temperature display Twin Cooling Plus system This is a high-end residential kitchen appliance designed for storing perishable food and beverages at safe temperatures. It is intended for normal household use and has been installed in a private home since purchase from Samsung.com in March 2022.

I am reporting a repeated cooling failure with a Samsung refrigerator (model RF29BB820012AA, purchased March 2022). On May 26, 2025, the unit began displaying a warm temperature warning and failed to maintain safe refrigeration levels. The failure occurred without warning and risked compromising food safety.

The refrigerator was in normal household use in a residential kitchen, used by two adults. No modifications were made to the unit, and it had been properly maintained. The products onboard AutoFill pitcher had previously failed, but this report concerns a separate, more serious cooling failure.

While no one was physically injured, the failure of the cooling system could have led to spoiled food consumption, posing health risks to household members, especially children or immunocompromised individuals.

Additionally, this is not an isolated incident. Many users of this same Samsung refrigerator model have reported identical premature cooling failures across online forums and complaint boards. The failures appear to happen shortly after the standard or extended warranty ends, indicating a possible design or manufacturing defect. Samsung has acknowledged the issue only partially offering free parts but requiring customers to pay for labor and diagnostic costs.

This situation deserves review for potential product safety or reliability issues that may warrant broader consumer protection.

The product, in the report: Samsung refrigerator

On Friday, May 31st, 2025, my Samsung refrigerator (still under warranty) suddenly stopped working. A few hours later, it started emitting smoke and caught fire inside the lower back area of the unit. We were home and immediately unplugged the fridge .

I contacted Samsung support the same day. On Tuesday, June 3rd, a technician came and inspected the unit. He confirmed the fridge had burned internally, and declared it non-repairable. Samsung has since told me to wait while engineers evaluate the case.

As of today, Ive been without a refrigerator for 7 days, and Samsung has not provided a replacement, refund, or resolution. The fact that a relatively new refrigerator (still under warranty) can overheat and ignite poses a serious fire hazard, especially in a home with children.

I am filing this report because this is a potential product safety issue, and I want to prevent others from facing similar risks.

The product, in the report: Samsung French Door Refrigerator Model: RF28HDEDBSR This is a stainless steel, 28 cubic foot, French-door refrigerator with a bottom freezer and an internal ice maker located in the upper left compartment. It features a digital display panel, temperature controls, and a twin cooling system. The ice maker is built into the refrigerator compartment rather than the freezer and is known to have performance issues.

My Samsung refrigerator (model RF28HDEDBSR) has a recurring issue with the ice maker freezing up. This causes it to stop producing ice and leads to fan and sensor errors, specifically codes 14E, 25E, and 32E. Ice builds up inside the unit and blocks airflow, sometimes preventing the fridge from cooling properly.

This problem requires me to manually thaw the ice maker every couple of months to keep it working. It’s not due to misuse or wear it’s a design flaw that many other owners report online.

The failure risks food spoilage, water leakage, and possible electrical strain or fire hazard from the overworked components. Samsung sells a repair kit to fix this known issue, but refuses to cover the cost because the fridge is out of warranty, despite it being a design-related failure.

The product, in the report: 2. Samsung Refrigerator Persistent Compressor Failure, No Resolution Model: RF30KMEDBSG/AA Serial Number: 0BFL4BBJ101252P Incident Summary: This unit never functioned properly after delivery. The refrigerator failed to cool reliably from the start, and I submitted multiple service requests while it was under warranty. Samsung dispatched two service technicians, but the underlying compressor issue was never resolved. No replacement or functional repair was offered. As I continued to report failures, food loss, and non-performance, the warranty eventually expired. After that point, Samsung declined all responsibility, despite the issue being documented and unresolved from the start. The refrigerator is currently still non-functional, and I have received no refund, replacement, or alternative resolution only delay and eventual denial. Overall Pattern of Negligence: Both appliances reflect the following: - Manufacturer-originating defects were present at the time of delivery. - The service was delayed or denied, contributing to a warranty expiration without resolution. - Support teams refused to address defects once the warranty voiding language was triggered, even when the issues were independent of the trigger event (i.e., fire). - There was no accountability offered for the gas leak, food losses, or defective compressor. Request for Action: I respectfully request that regulatory and corporate stakeholders review the following: 1. Independent investigation into the gas leak originating from the right burner of the Samsung range, which was not involved in the fire event. 2. Documentation of Samsungs failure to complete refrigerator repair requests within the warranty coverage period. 3. Formal acknowledgment that both units were delivered in a defective state and not caused by consumer misuse. 4. Corporate response outlining Samsungs position, accountability plan, and whether compensation or replacement will be issued. All service reports, photos, serial numbers, complaint documentation, and email records are available upon request.

    To Whom It May Concern,

I am submitting this incident report to formally document two unresolved product defects involving Samsung appliances sold through BrandsMart USA. Both cases involve long-standing manufacturer-related failures that have led to unaddressed safety risks, denied service, and unresolved consumer loss.

This report is being submitted to Samsung Corporate Escalation and BrandsMart USA Executive Services, and a copy is being sent to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) for review and regulatory purposes.

The product, in the report: Samsung RF29A9771SR is a 29 cu. ft. Smart 4-Door Flex RefrigeratoR, Stainless Steel

Samsung refrigerator, which has caused significant damage to my home. The unit is a 4-door French door model equipped with a dual ice maker, including the smaller cube ice maker located in the upper left section of the refrigerator.

Over time, the small cube ice maker began to freeze over and malfunction. Despite regular maintenance and following Samsungs recommended troubleshooting steps, the problem persisted. Eventually, the ice maker became so frozen that it blocked the normal flow of water within the unit. This caused water to leak internally throughout the refrigerator and then externally, where it pooled and seeped out onto the kitchen floor.

My husband, self and children have all slipped on the water that seeped out of refrigerator onto the floor. Thankfully the slipping did not cause serious injury.

The leaking water caused damage to my hardwood floors and baseboards, requiring professional repair. The floors warped, and the baseboards began to swell and separate from the wall. This incident not only created an unsafe environment but also resulted in unexpected repair expenses and loss of use of my kitchen during cleanup.

Before this incident began, it had been 10 minutes since anyone had touched the refrigerator. I heard the refrigerator started dispensing ice making noise and thought it was ice dropping. I left the kitchen and went to my office for about 20-30 minutes. When I came back to the kitchen it smelled like something was burning and discovered that the ice maker was dispensing ice on its own. When I opened the refrigerator and removed the ice maker, there was smoke in the ice maker area. I tried to turn off the ice maker, tried to reset two times and finally we had to unplug the refrigerator because it would not trying to dispense ice. This was a Friday night and Samsung technician came to our house Monday and said the refrigerator was not repairable. He also took photos - which I have - where you see components were melting. Had I not been home, this would have started a fire. This incident comes after Samsung has fixed my ice maker 5 times since we purchased it 4 1/2 years ago. We still have the refrigerator but it cant be used. This happened on 4/4 and as of today 4/12, Samsung still has not resolved this issue and I still dont have a refrigerator.

Ice maker in upper cabinet stopped working. Ice maker was found to be incrusted with ice inside of the icehouse in the refrigerator compartment. After thawing out the icehouse, the problem returned. Multiple visits by Lowe’s extended warranty contractor failed to correct the problem. Then called Samsung direct and they sent out their factory serviceperson who performed a Samsung factory service bulletin, replacing multiple parts within the refrigerator / freezer. Within a few months the ice maker froze up again, and continued to do so despite many defrosting attempts by myself. Now, we have found pieces of plastic from the ice bucket assembly inside of the ice maker. This is from the ice bucket housing, which has numerous fractures in it. This part was replaced during the Samsung servicepersons visit in 12/2022 with a new, improved design, according to him. It is that part, which was found to be broken again, in multiple places. Unit is now leaking water when it dispenses ice through the front door. The ice makers in this refrigerator have been a constant source of problems since just after the purchase of the appliance, which cost over two thousand dollars new. Samsung has thus far refused to provide further support for the defective refrigerator.

I purchased a Samsung 27.4 cu. ft. Side-by-Side refrigerator (model # RS27T5200SR) in 2022. It was delivered on April 8, 2022. It has not worked properly since I have received it. The refrigerator freezes food on the lower shelves and does not stay cool on the upper shelves. My initial service call about this problem was on October 7, 2022. The service person who came at that time pushed on the back plate and left. It continued to have the same issue throughout 2023 until the compressor and dryer had to be replaced in April of 2024. Samsung technicians incorrectly diagnosed the issue when they originally came to service the refrigerator on April 5, 2024. When a technician came on April 9, 2024, he correctly diagnosed the problem as the compressor and fan. We then had to wait for parts and were without a refrigerator for weeks. The issue with it freezing food and not keeping other food cold enough has returned in 2025. A service appointment on February 7, 2025, resulted in technicians turning up the temperature and closing the ticket. The temperature on the other shelves of the refrigerator shot up to 58 degrees and we had to throw away the contents of the refrigerator. Technicians returned on February 24, 2025, and told us that the refrigerator cover assembly (part # DA97-20712A) was bowed and that it had been recalled. I have spoken to Samsung multiple times and they have been of no help. The refrigerator has clearly been defective since I purchased it and is unsafe for my family to use.
