The product, in the report: Skechers tone ups fitness shoe
Important: Include details such as how the product was being used, what happened to prompt your report and any injuries that were sustained. Do not provide personally identifiable information in this box.
I bought my Skechers tone ups fitness shoes on May 14,2011. I began wearing them to work because I walk on my lunch break and wanted my legs to get in better shape. After a couple weeks my knees started hurting. And they progressively got worse. It got to the point that they were aching all day and night with no explanation and no apparent injuries that I was aware of.It was also difficult to get up to a standing position from my chair at work. So I decided to make an appt with my orthopedic doctor. He thought I was too young to have arthritis at 49 and opted to do an MRI in order to see what was going on.He said that I may have a torn meniscus. I have stopped wearing the shoes and the pain has lessened but my knees are still injured. I will go back tomorrow on June 21 for my results.

The product, in the report: sketchers tone-ups tennis shoes
I had high hopes of toning my maximus gluteus according to the advertisement for the Shape-Ups. After wearing only these tennis shoes for 2 months, my left knee became very swollen and painful. I found it almost impossible to bear any weight on that leg as it was so very painful. I took Ibuprofen and iced the knee, but, no relief. I finally took my problem to my primary care physician. Upon a physical examination, he initially thought it might be a Baker’s Cyst. He gave me some pain pills and an prescription for Naproxen as well, also advising me to ice the site. I followed his instructions, but saw no relief. I went back in to the physician after 4 days and he sent me for an MRI, which revealed several miniscus tears. The timing fit the acquisition of the shoes and I had been told by several of my fitness center friends that they had suffered the same results after wearing the shoes for a month or so. I have been advised by an sports orthopedic doctor that surgery should be considered to repair the tears. I am very reticent to have surgery, but, I suppose it will be necessary to get me back to the ability to exercise, or to even walk without pain and limping!

The product, in the report: Sketchers Shape-Ups: A front laced athletic shoe with a unique sole that was intended to exersize the back leg muscles. Shetchers Tone-Ups: Designed with the same unique sole but a flip flop style with between the toe and open back stle
I have been wearing Sketcher Shape-up and Tone-up athletic shoes for over 1 year. I startedd having pain in my left knee and hip area. The pain got progressively worse day by day. I typically work out 3-4 times per week and it got to the point that I quit going.
Made a doctor’s appointment and had an injection of [REDACTED] (name not accurate) in the hip area and did not get any relief. Never did I imagine that the shoes could have been the problem until an Asian yoga instructor, (I did not know her and or participated in any of her classes), said that the shoes I was wearing were not good for my back, anckle or knee’s.
I am currently in physical therapy hoping that I can get my muscles and joints to quit hurting and, it has now moved into the groin area.
I have problems sleeping, setting for any period of time, crossing my legs, etc.
I have quit wearing the shoes about 2 weeks ago and it is June 17th today.

The product, in the report: Skechers Fitness Toning Shoes. Black w/white. Size 10
Purchased Skechers Fitness shoes April 2011, watched video, wore in house before anywhere else to get use to them and afterwards (week or so) was walking for excercise one day and lost balance, twisted my leg at the knee as I caught myself . Continued to be sore and my knee swelled and after 2 weeks went to urgent care and was given a brace and crutches and they referred me to an orthopedic surgeon. They stated they think I have a tear in my knee and may require surgery. I go on 6/14 to see what the outcome is. I will never place those shoes on my feet again and feel they are not really safe to wear.

The product, in the report: SKECHERS KIDS Pretty Talls - Silver Spark (Toddler/Youth) SKU: #7752736 Color: White/Multi Neon size: 10.5 Toddler
I purchased a pair of SKECHERS KIDS Pretty Talls - Silver Spark (Toddler/Youth) SKU: #7752736 Color: White/Multi Neon Size: 10.5 Toddler from Zappos on 4/15/11 from Zappos.com. On the first day my 3 year old wore them, the attached “lace” snapped and hung down from the shoe. I requested an exchange on 5/1/11. About the third day of her wearing these replacements, the lace also snapped. This defect can cause a tripping hazard. I have always loved Skechers, but I am greatly disappointed in the quality of these toddler shoes.

The product, in the report: Sketchers Toning Sneakers, Black and White, Grey and White, and Pink and White
Two years ago in August my foot started to swell and I was unable to move my foot or leg. I went to the hospital and clinic and they could not see what caused my foot to swell and be in so much pain. I then went to a orthopedic Dr. and he ex-rayed my leg and said I had a stress fracture. He said what did you do and I said nothing. He indicated that I had to hit my leg very hard for it to start cracking. But I didn’t. So they immediately put a cast on it. After 6 weeks my leg got worse it actually broke. So they put another cast on it. Six weeks later my leg still was not healed. The Dr then called in a surgent and they had to operate on my leg. Dr surgent said that my leg was not healing and that he had to put a plate and screws in it. (All this time I am in a wheelchair because I could not use this leg at all) I had a bone density test 3 years prior and everything was normal, so they ruled out that something was wrong with my bones. Twelve weeks after the surgery and my leg started to recover my other leg had the same symthoms, my leg stop moving. I went back to the Dr. he was baffled. He said this is one in a million that you would have the same exact facture, same ex-ray just the opposite leg. Because the other leg did not heal on its own, we proceeded to do surgery on this one as well. By the time we did the surgery it was two weeks my leg had broke, just like the other one. In the second leg the Dr. ran a long nail down my leg, from my knee to my ankle and put screws at the knee and ankle. I just got out of the wheelchair 2 weeks ago and I am currently using a walker to help walk again. I am currently going to an bone Dr to determine why this has happen, they can’t understand this. they say this is not normal. I then hear about the sneakers that I purchased. Which I brought 3 pair just 1 week before my leg stop working.

The product, in the report: Sketcher shoes
I had on sketcher shoes. I was helping my daughter do some errands. When to visit my Mom at the hospital came back to my daughters home to stay with her and my grandson. I was just returning to my car to get my grandson out of the car and I stepped down wrong. I turned my right ankle, when I went to put my left foot down, it also turned. I broke two bones in my right foot and my left ankle. The left ankle did not heal right away and I had to have a plate and screws put in during a surgery. The weather was clear and very nice outside. I had been wearing the sketcher shoes and had no problem before this. Although one of my co-workers had made the comment that it looked like my feet were rolling. I don’t want to cause any problems. I threw out the shoes after the accident. I just wanted to report this in case someone else had any problems. I was out of work for four months and will always have some pain in my ankle.

The product, in the report: SKECHERS SHAPE-UPS for WOMEN 12340/BKHP KINETIX RESPONSE BLACK/HOT PINK SIZE 11
I have been wearing Sketcher Shape-Up shoes and Sketcher toning boots since November of 2010. I normally wear the shoes when walking 25-30 minutes a day at least 3-5 days a week and on occassion all day.I have experienced a lot of pain in my feet. knees, upper back, neck and headackes with dizziness. I stopped wearing the shoes a few weeks ago and made an appointment starting with a podiatrist to see why I was having such pain in my feet. She examined me and scheduled me for an MRI since I have obvious damage in both feet. She had me put the shoes on and walk and after a few steps told me to stop, take of the shoes and don’t wear them again. I asked her if I could be experiencing all these other problems as well because of injury, and she said when you have been walking incorrectly it can cause your whole body to go out of alignment and cause a mess.

The product, in the report: Sketcher’s Sneakers - Toning model
I purchased Sketchers toning shoes after seeing numerous testamonials on TV. I went to a local shoe store in mall. I read all the instructions and more for a week. The pain started in my right knee, about April 24-29. I went to local Pharmacy and purchased leg and knee bandage. On 5/21/2011 the pain increase - since then I missed work, sleep disturbed and I take [REDACTED] everyday. I have a difficult time walking on right leg due to pain.

The product, in the report: skechers shape up sneakers, white w/blue size 9.
In Feb. 2009 i purchased a pair of the skecher shape ups i used them daily at work. All was well til Sept 2010. I started experiencing severe legs cramps nightly. I then noticed a bruise on the side of my left knee which i still have to this day and also a lump on my shin bone. The lump was most disturbing as i had lymphoma cancer (and anytime a lump is present after cancer) it is quite alarming. I HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY APPTMTN with my oncologist to have a pet scan. It was a horrible experience, as it made me relive a time in my life that was very traumatic. Thankfully it was determined that the lump is not cancerous. It is said to be a cyst. i attribute to those sneakers and the brusie on the side of my knee as well as vericose veins (by the bruise). I have nt been to a doctor with regards to the lump/cyst and bruise. I was just releived to find it was not cancer.
Since throwing out the sneakers, i have not had any further leg cramps. But i do feel like my leg is on “pins and needles” when trying to go asleep or when sitting in a recliner chair.

The product, in the report: Sketchers shape up shoes
I purchased a pair of sketcher shoes shape up ones. I fell down thirteen stairs because of them. broke my leg in several places. was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Had to have surgery, they had to put a metal rod in my leg, screws too. I was in the hospital for four days and in a therapy rehabilitation center for four weeks. I am still in bad condition. Several of the nurses that worked there said they had incidents where they almost broke their ankles. It’s a blessing I didn’t loose my life. Those shoes need to be taken off the market. That’s my opinion of course. Please check in to this any help would be appreciated. You may reach me through my email or call me at [REDACTED].

The product, in the report: Skechers shape up sneakers.
I purchased two pairs of Skechers shape up sneakers as they stated they would help with posture and tone up your body. I purchased the sneakers at two different times. The first pair was purchased approximately April 2010 but I had not worn the sneakers for more than a day or two at a time for the first few months. Because I hadn’t felt any ill effects due to only wearing the shoes a couple times I purchased another pair while on sale a few months later as they were a comfortable shoe. However, after wearing the shoes for approximately 3 months on a consistent basis I started experiencing an excrutiating pain in my heels. I never had foot problems/pain prior to wearing these shoes for several months. The pain was and still is excrutiating and as a result I now have difficulty walking. I have not worn the the shoes since November 2010 and the pain in my heels has not receded or gone away. The sore I purchased the shoes from allowed me to return both pairs even though the one pair had been worn. I have been seeing a massage therapist periodically to try and relieve some of the pain and have been told the pain will never completely go away but there are a few things that I can do to help alleviate the pain. My massage therapist indicated the injury was a result of the shoes due to the change in posture. As I lay here in bed right now trying to relax while typing this information my feet are in pain and I can not put pressure/weight on them without pain. If there is any further information needed I can be reached on Monday throught Thursday at [REDACTED] between the hours of 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM ET. Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Sketcher Shape-Ups Strength Toning Sneakers Size 7
I was walking to the elevator in my Sketcher Shape-Ups Toning Strength sneakers when the left shoe sole pivoted inside along the sole, shifting my center of gravity suddenly. The shoes caused me to lose my balance and my ankle roll around in the socket and made a “pop”. These shoes are heavy and I had to struggle to hobble back to my apartment, which also hurt my entire foot, ankle, and lower back. My ankle was bruised and swollen and extremely painful. I am very angry because these shoes caused the tibialis in my left leg and permanent damage to my ligaments.

The product, in the report: Sketcher shape ups. Black
To whom it may concern... Hello my name is [REDACTED] I am writing to report my incident regarding the Sketcher Shape up shoes. On Feb 11th 2011 I was returning from home from work. I was jogging to my front door from my car in my apartment complex. The stairs were coming up as I went to stop I felt my ankle roll completely over. I felt my ankle come out of the joint, immediately there was great pain. I fell to my behind to inspect the ankle in seconds it was twice its normal size and already turning a bruise color. I tried to stand on it in great pain I could not put any weight on it. Unfortunately I was unable to see a doctor for I have no medical insurance. I could not place any weight on it for about 4 weeks. I swelled to almost 3 times the size of my normal size and was bruised half way up the leg. I remedied my ankle using home remedy and bought a walking air cast. It’s been almost 4 months and I am still experiencing serious pain along with a terrible popping noise. I’m sure my ankle will never be right again. I missed four weeks of work and missed out on allot of money. Clearly these shoes are unsafe. They are very unstable and roll the ankle very easily I wasn’t doing anything abnormal just jogging and coming to a stop. I recommend these shoes be taken off the market, a full recall and refund for the safety of all consumers. Please do not where these shoes! This is not a coincidence! I know many people who have suffered injury while wearing these shoes. So please take my report and put it to good use.

The product, in the report: Skechers Shape-ups
After wearing Skechers Shape-up shoes for work only in which I am on my feet, walking and standing, for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, I developed severe lower back pain. In early January, an MRI showed stress fractures in both hips. I have not fallen or been in any type of accident which might cause such an injury. The only factor I can see is wearing these shoes.
