The product, in the report: b/w Sketcher Shape-Up shoes that I bought shortly before the incident at the Skecher Store in the shops at Mission Viejo.
Entering my garage, I turned to pick up a newspaper that had fallen, the shoes (left foot) slid from under me, to the far right, while my body fell to the far left. I was taken to an urgent care facility where I was referred to an x-ray facility. My ankle was bandaged and I was sent home. Later that night, the pain was so intense, I was taken to the e.r. I had to have my ankle rewrapped and no doctor could see me until 7/7 as it was a holiday weekend. At this point I had many purple fracture blisters on my entire lower leg. I was given a LOT of antibiotics. I saw the orthopedic surgeon on 7/7/10 but because of the blisters/infection no surgery could be done until 7/21/10. I had a tri-malleolar fracture with metal plates/screws inserted. There is almost no feeling on the left side of my foot; the toes often tingle; and my gait has changed. I was not out of the cast completely until around November 2010. My foot/ankle has never been the same.

I bought Skechers sneaker for what they said they would help you with such as weight ,strength and tone but that not what happen they cause injuries.They make you fall,and stumble.I wore skechers and hurt my ankle with a stress fractures had to wear a boot for a bout six months and then had have surgery on it.My ankle will never be the same again .They should take responsibility for their products and the injuries they cause.Skechers shape ups is not what they say and I will never buy or wear them again.They are not safe.

I suffered an injury due to the instability of the shoes. My right ankle turned which threw me into a fall which in turn caused me to hit the corner of two walls thus severing my right rotator cuff. This required 2 surgeries to repair and 5 1/2 months of lost wages. All of this has now cost me my job. When you factor in this injury and my age it is impossible to find a job, which by the way I am still searching for.

The consumer is unsure. However, it was at Bristol Mall.
The consumer purchased the shoes after having a Gastric bypass and believed the Shape Up shoes would be in her benefit to use.
On 03/28/2012 (estimated) the consumer was going up the stairs when she felt and heard something pop in her right foot. The incident occurred at [REDACTED] located [REDACTED]. Bristol, TN 37620.
About 3-4 days later the consumer visited her family physician regarding the pain in her right foot. Her physician referred her to [REDACTED], an orthopedic specialist. The consumer was examined by [REDACTED] who advised her that she has an extra bone in her right foot, which she was not aware of. [REDACTED] advised the consumer that the extra bone broke and caused her heel to break. The consumer was advised she would need surgery.
The consumer states at the time she visited her physician and [REDACTED] she did not relate her injury to the shoes.
On 04/01/2012 (estimated) the consumer had surgery on her right foot. The extra bone was removed from her right foot. The surgery was performed by [REDACTED].
The consumer was directed by [REDACTED] to be in a wheelchair and walker for 3 months.
On 09/01/12 (estimated) she began to use the Shape Up shoes. The consumer states approximately 2-3 later she re-broke her right heel and blew out her achilles tendon on her right foot. The incident occurred at [REDACTED] located [REDACTED]. Bristol, TN 37620.
The consumer had surgery performed by [REDACTED]. The doctor had to shave her achilles tendon and attached it to 4 screws in her heel.
The consumer had both surgery at Bristol Regional Medical Center located at [REDACTED], Bristol, TN 37620. The consumer states [REDACTED] office is located in the hospital.
The consumer states [REDACTED] advised her to discontinue using the shoes due to both injuries occurring while she was wearing the shoes.
After the surgery the consumer was directed to use a wheelchair and walker for 3 months.
The consumer states since the incidents she experiences pain on her right foot and she has been prescribed pain medication from a pain management doctor.
The consumer states her right leg is shorter than her left leg and she has to wear a lift in her shoes.
The consumer feels that the shoes are dangerous and should be recalled.

The hazardess incident happened December 24th, 2013. I was wearing Skechers Shape-up shoes. Due to the instablity of the shoes I fell outside and could not get back up. I called for help and was taken to the hospital and was told I needed surgery immediately. I had two compound fractures, one internal break, and several injured ligaments. I have one plate and 10 screws in my ankle and suffer constant pain due to arthritis. I was incapacitated for several weeks and now 10 months later I’m still suffering with a swollen ankle and pain.

Re: Skechers Shape-Up’s Hazardous Incident March 14, 2011
Walked outside my home, down on step off my porch and my left foot started to rock forward unexpectedly. The forward rocking motion caused my left foot to flip backwards until I was standing on my ankle. I called my husband from inside the house to call 911. The ambulances arrived within 5 minutes and off we went to Kaiser Hospital. My left foot was X-Rayed and my left ankle was fractured in three places. Next, surgery, 9 weeks of non-weight bearing and bed ridden. To this day I cannot walk down stairs and have severe pain and swelling after working 8 hours, 4 days a week on my feet. I now have titanium 7” plate and screws.

After purchasing 5 pairs of Skecher’s Shape Ups shoes, I started having knee problems. I could be standing still and my knee would give out on me and I would almost fall, I would have if it hadn’t of been for objects or people nearby to catch me. I went to my doctor and she referred me to a orthopedic doctor and he ordered an MRI and it showed that I had a cracked knee. Now it has set up arthritis and it still gives me pain. I have had to change the way I work, walk and can no longer do things I used to do. I’m always scared of falling and making it worse.

On 2/22/2011 I suffered a a injury due to the instability of the Sketchers Shape Up shoes I had purchased from Kohls Department Store in Appleton Wisconsin. I have the shoes and would like to report Sketchers USA INC so everyone is aware of how unsafe and hazardous these shoes are for injury. I had to have surgery after trying everything possible from stretches, chiropractor, cortisone shot and pain management to prevent from having to have surgery. Dr [REDACTED] highly respected Doctor, removed my herniated disc off my nerve and said that was the only thing that would of worked. From injury to recovery I missed a lot of work and now I am unemployed at the current time.

Was wearing my Sketcher’s Shape Ups Shoes. Stepped out of front door onto cement stoop on right foot. When I brought the left foot down to the stoop, I toppled over to my left falling completely off the stoop and into the yeard. I landed on my left hand and buttocks hitting the cement walk guides along the sidewalk. The bone in my left thumb was broken in three places, ligaments between my thumb & index finger were separated. All of the ligaments and tendons in my left hand were bruised and my buttocks on both sides were bruised and swollen. Surgery was performed to correct damage to left thumb ensued by eight weeks of physical therapy.

While wearing Skethers Shape Ups on March 5 2013, the instability of this shoe caused an ankle roll resulting in a fall and the fracture of my right anterior fibula. Again in June 2013 I again wearing the shoe took a fall and ankle roll, on flat pavement, in different areas this time resulting in fracture of the Malleous bones, fibula, tibia and nerve and tissue damage. This product is still on the market even though Sketchers retracted their claim of toning benefits of the shoe. This product is very dangerous, I now have permanent damage because of it, someone needs to do something about this product

I wore the mas they said to when walking working and working out. after wearing them I began to have bad knee issues I had 6 months of physical therapy but only ended up having surgery on my knee. Bought a pair of Sketcher trainers from Las Vegas recently from the outlet store. They are the relaxed fit memory foam shoes, product number SN 22463. In 1 day wearing them here I slipped around 6 times, usually on a wet surface 1) leaving my house on bricks; 2) on tiles; 3) several times on lino; 4) car peddles I understand these shoes haven’t specifically been designed for grip, but they are so slippery I am unable to wear them both inside or outside! I have emailed sketchers who have not been very helpful in this matter and say this is normal, but of all shoes I have every worn this amount of slipping seems far too excessive and dangerous for every day use. Luckily I didn’t come to any harm but I would like another opinion on whether such slippery shoes should be allowed to be sold. I very easily could have had a nasty injury on several occasions and my primary concern is that this could happen to another person.

Due to the instability of the shoes I shattered my ankle, broke my lower leg and messed up my knee. I slipped and with the round bottom of my shoes I rolled up onto my toes and flipped over which inverted my foot. When I hit the ground the bottom of my foot was laying on the back of my calf. After a couple of years my life will never be the same and my leg hurts every day. I will and I recommend to you to never wear Sketchers round bottom shoes again.

I wore the shoes for about 3 months,but as soon as i started wearing them i had pain in my calves and i thought they were working after that my right heel started hurting to the extent that i could hardly walk, i went to my doctor and later to a foot doctor. I was told that i had plantar fasciitis for which i got therapy but that did not work, so the dr. recommended i get a shot on my heel which has only worked for a while because i still have pain. the shoes cause the problem before wearing the shape ups i was fine.

Caller received a pair of slightly used Skecher shape up shoes size 9 as a gift in March 2o14.
He walking while wearing the the end of April 2014 when he felt his right leg just twisted the he became off balance.
There was discomfort but not pain when this first happened.
He thought the leg was improving and healing, but around May he was aware that he was feeling more and more pain then the pain began waking him at night.
He tried to keep the knee more immobile so the pain was controllable.
He returned to the doctor in July when it was finally ex-rayed then MRI’d and a torn Meniscus in his knee was found.
He is scheduled for surgery on Monday, September 22nd, 2014 to correct this injury.

Caller is reporting that she was injured twice as a result of wearing her Skecher “shape-ups” size 6 shoes.
These shoes were purchased June or July 2010.
The caller was injured the first time in September 2010 when her right foot twisted, her ankle popped and fractured her foot bone and tore the tendons.
She went to the doctors and was on workman’s comp for a while. July 2011 she was wearing the shoes at work when the right shoe caught on carpet, she couldn’t maintain balance, shoes are not flat. This incident Tore MCL on both sides of her right knee.
She went to the doctor and was again on workman’s comp.

On 12/22/2012 I was leaving my daughter’s home in Knoxville through the garage entry way. I was wearing Skechers Shape-Ups shoes which have a significant curvature to the sole. As I stepped down onto the second of three steps my left foot rolled forward and then suddenly sideways to the left causing me to lose my balance and fall. The fall resulted in my completely severing my patella tendon (complete rupture of the exterior mechanism of the the quadriceps tendon on the left knee). My family took me to the ER at Tenova Healthcare / Turkey Creek Medical Center in Knoxville as my leg was swollen and not moveable. The ER Dr.confirmed the extent of the injury, referrred me to a Tenova surgeon who performed the repair surgury on 11/7/2013. These shoes by design cause a rocking motion,even when standing in one position, and more so when walking,especially downward. The result is an imbalance and instability.

Skecher Shape - UPS (Tennis shoes-sandals) Used these shoes for several moths - they were advertised to tone your body. They had concave bottom not flat. Early August 2012 when walking at beach - I noticed ankle and shin pain. It was hard to walk upstairs or distances without pain (took Aleves pain ointment). Went to my internist - sent to podiatrist - sent 2 week physical therapy after diagnosis - medical stress fractures - probably caused by shoes and stop using shoes immediately. These shoes should have never been sold to any senior citizen - cause you to off balance. I am a senior citizen.

The consumer was wearing the sneakers moving from her residence. The consumer picked up a box and turned to walk down the stairs as she stepped down her foot twist. The consumer states the [fastener] opened and was not open prior to her foot twisting.
She sat on the stairs for a few minutes and she continued to take the box down the stairs. She states the box she was carrying was light. She states that her ankle became swollen.
The consumer contacted her physician from Merced Faculty Associates Medical Group on 12/3/14 and was seen a few days later. The physicians office is located [REDACTED]. The physician advised the consumer her ankle was fractured and referred the consumer to an orthopedic doctor. The orthopedic office is [REDACTED] and the consumer was seen by Dr [REDACTED]. The doctor did not prescribe the consumer any pain medication. The orthopedic confirmed the consumer’s ankle was fractured.
The consumer contacted [REDACTED] a week after the injury when she saw a commercial advising consumers who have received an injury with a Sketcher sneaker to contact the law firm. The consumer filled out forms and was advised she has a claim against Sketchers.

I stepped out of a pick up truck wearing my Skecher Shapeups and my right foot with the height of the shoe, I was unable to be stable on that foot. I fell and tore my ligaments and cartilage on that leg. I was bedridden for 3 months wearing a brace from the ankle to the upper thigh 24 hours a day 7 days a week. I was unable to remove except for showering. I still have to use pain medication and will have to use this for the rest of my life according to the doctor.

May 2011 this caller was wearing these shoes when she turned from a register while shopping and fell face first on the floor.
She was taken by ambulance to Cedar Sin hospital emergency room where she remained for four or five hours while she was checked for injuries.
Her injuries included scratches to her arms, face, gums were bleeding and her ankle was swollen.

This caller purchased her Skecher size 8 Shoes from store during the month of December 2010. These shoes have been recalled by the FTC. The caller wore the shoes occasionally until around October 2011 when she began wearing them to work. She had noticed that her ankle turned in, she felt clumsy, fell a few times but didn’t associate it with the shoes until a fall in May of 2012 resulted a fall bad enough to result in her daughter having to drive her to the emergency room at Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida (she lived in Florida at that time). At the emergency room she was diagnosed as having fracture of the left foot and left wrist as well bruises on her left side.
She has not contacted the manufacturer and does not intend to contact the manufacturer.
She is creating this report to share the danger with the public and because her attorney has recommended that she create a report with the CPSC.

I had purchased a new pair of Sketcher Shape-Up shoes in August 2011. I was trying to break them in. The shoe felt like it was slanting my foot inward so I was very careful to walk correctly to get use to them. On August 17, 2011, I was taking my walk on a paved road when I fell due to the instability of the shoes. The next day when I woke up, I notice my right ankle was stiff and unstable. After moving it back and forth for about 1-3 minutes, I was able to walk on it. I sought medical advice and had x-rays, and a MRI taken of my ankle. It was thought I had a torn ligament. I then saw a specialist that confirmed I had a chip bone in my ankle. I was able to walk on it because sometimes the chip would “float” back in place and other times it would “float” out and hurt. I had my first surgery on Dec 20, 2011 to fix the chip. The ankle did not heal correctly and on July 11, 2013, I had more extensive surgery to repair deteriorating bone. On July 29, 2014, I had my third surgery to remove the bolts from the second surgery.

I injured my left ankle while wearing the Sketcher’s product. While exercising with wearing the Sketcher’s product, I would lose my balance and catch myself from falling completely. I did not realized that this was causing damages to my ankle. I start to realize this when I started limping on my left foot and my ankle swell in one spot. I never had problems with my ankle before using this product. I did not use the product at the beginning. After purchasing the product, I saw the thickness of the shoe bottom and was wondering would it be safe. After time past and I start seeing other people with the product and their conversation was that the product is good. I started to use the product. My focus and goal was on losing weight.

I injured my wrist on March 18, 2011 while wearing Skechers Shape Up shoes. I was walking to the store near my house. I cut through a grassy area near a basketball court. It had been raining so the ground was wet and muddy. When I reached an area that was particularly muddy I attempted to turn to step out of it; when I lost my footing and fell. I returned to my home and a friend took me to the ER the next day. They stabilized my wrist but did not surgery. The orthopedic surgeon on duty told me to see him in his office in two days. When I went there he would not see me because I was un insured. I made many calls to find a surgeon who would treat me without insurance. I also tried unsuccessfully to apply for medical assistance and disability. After six weeks I located the Union Memorial Hospital program that provides care for un insured individuals. I was evaluated there and it was determined that at this point my wrist had healed incorrectly and to fix it would require surgery for re breaking and setting. Next I had to apply for their program and it took another six weeks for approval. When I received approval I was immediately scheduled for surgery in July 2011. They placed hardware inside to set my wrist. Following surgery I was seen periodically for evaluation and occupational therapy. In October 2011 I underwent a second surgery to remove the hardware. This was followed by more evaluation and therapy for four more months. I was discharged in February 2012. I learned about the Skechers class action lawsuit in June 2012 and submitted my information to it.

After taking approximately 6 steps off of my deck stairs onto my flat backyard I slipped on the grass and could not recover from the slip due to the design of the shoe and ended up doing a split on the ground and ripping my thigh muscles and injuring my back as I violently slammed down on the ground.

Caller is reporting incident with Sketchers size 9 women’s tennis shoes that purchased around February 5th, 2014. There is no warning that shoes must be worn with socks. .
Shoe toes are made with netting material and on Tuesday, June 17th, 2014 while she was walking around inside her home the netting became entangled on the toe nail of her smallest toe of her right foot. The netting cut into the toe nail. Consumer is diabetic..
Whenever she tried to walk the netting would pull and jerk at her toenail which she states was horribly painful.
She tried to take the shoe off and couldn’t remove it because her right small toe nail was entangled with this netting.
She asked her daughter to assist her and that they had to cut the shoe away from her toenail.
She has pictures and will send them with her incident report (2 pictures included).
She contacted the manufacturer June 24th, 2014 and was advised that they do not provide refunds which is what she asked for then the manufacturer advised her to return the shoes to the retailer.
She said she purchased them in another state and she hasn’t attempted to obtain a refund from the location of this store in her state.

I was walking through the Tanforan Mall when the toe of the right shoe suddenly gripped the floor and I stumbled. I walked another few feet when it happened again but this time it gripped so hard it held onto my foot while the momentum of my body continued forward causing me to fall. My right knee twisted in the fall and is sore. The floors were made of large squares of tile, very clean and dry. They were also even and without flaw.

This letter is to serve as notice that the item I purchased from your company, is defective and has caused me harm.
On 4/5/ 2014 - I went to use the shoes mentioned above for a work out, and a walk. As I’m walking I felt a pinch and then felt constant discomfort. I went to check the shoe, and removed the memory foam insert all to find a metal sharp tack standing upright inside the left shoe, under the memory foam sole insert.
To my disappointment, I immediately called customer service, and they refused to give me the contact information for someone at your company that would handle such claims. Skechers should really have a department available to speak with customer in a case such as this one.
I have images, of the box, the shoe, and my credit card statement. However the inside of the shoe does not allow me to take a clear picture of the tack. I would be happy to bring the shoe to one of your stores for inspection.
I would be happy to forward these images via email, once an email address is provided as well.
I would like this matter resolved, ASAP. Since when I purchased your product I did not sign on for a puncture wound to my left foot. The thought that someone with a contagious blood disease such as hepatitis, HIV could have tried this shoe before I purchased it and inadvertently punctured themselves, The thought I could have been infected plays out in my mind constantly. I will be visiting my doctor for blood work analysis next week.

Walking alone on tile floor in a hospital. Not in patient area. The toe or front of my left shoe suddenly grabbed the floor and I fell forward, landing on my knees. My left knee is swollen and painful.4/7/2014.
Along the same corridor two days later, suddenly the left toe grabbed the floor, I tried to recover and the right foot also “stuck.” Did not fall but twisted my back and left knee in recovering.

I am writing you in regards to you to 2 pairs of Skechers shoes I purchased for my children in August. My boys ages 5 and 7 both got new shows for back to school the end of August this year and they both selected the new style of Boy’s Mega Flex. I thought they were pretty pricey but I have always been happy with the quality of Skechers so I figured they would be worth it. We buy Skechers for our boys nearly every time we buy shoes so I went with the Mega Flex. By the beginning of November the metal springs in the Mega Flex shoes had started wearing through the plastic sole of the shoes to the point where the METAL spring now protrudes through the bottom of the shoe and every time my son took a step the spring would pop and cause him foot pain. I believe this to be a hazard to my children so now not only do I have to buy my children new shoes so soon but I am very disappointed with a brand I have long considered very good for my family. I have taken photos of these shoes and I have tried NUMEROUS times to contact Skechers Customer service but they are just ignoring me. I sent them photos and I have not received any response. Beside being upset about the money I am out for the shoes I clearly believe these shoes are a HAZARD to other children and they need to be looked into this is a DANGEROUS product.

I purchased sketchers toning shoe about a year ago. This shoe has a small hump inder the arch of the foot. I have been completely healthy my entire life. After walking to loose weight, I started to notice pain in my feet. I have sice stopped wearing the shoes and I have a severe case of plantar fasciitis! Stabbing pain with every step. I feel my heels as if they are bruised all the time. I am so upset and I know instinctively these shoe caused my pain without a doubt! Now, I can hardly walk! I cant participate in life! Re Skechers Toneups I refer to the Class Action Settlement for which I have completed a claim form electronically Last May, whilst in Las Vegas, I was wearing these shoes and suffered a traumatic injury to my right foot which is ongoing. The cartilage and fluid between the bones in my foot have disintegrated and currently when I walk, the bones are rubbing against each other. On my return from the US I spent 11 weeks in a ‘[REDACTED]’ which totally immobilised my foot. X-ray, bone scan & MRI scan have all confirmed the injury (all of which I have copies of) At this stage I am requiring continuing Cortisone injections into the area on my right foot and when these injections cease to have an effect, it has been suggested that I have the bones fused in my foot (which I certainly do not want to happen) which will stope the continual pain I suffer with. Could you please advise me if you are able to assist me in my claim, what my rights are and if my injury is significant to continue with a claim. Purchased the Skechers shoes in 2011 at Comfort Shoes in kansas City, MO to exercise my legs as advertise. I went on a cruise in July 16-23, 2011 and wore the skechersone day walking from the boat to the end of the dock, took a speed boat ride and para-sailed for about 10 minutes, came back to the dock and walked back to the cruise ship. I went to my cabin and took off my shoes. My socks were bloody mess and went immediately to the ship’s infirmary. They in turn referred me to Schneider Regional Medical Center. The doctor at the center gave me [REDACTED] (antibiotic) and told me to stay off my feet. The balance of the trip I had a wheelchair. Returned home using a wheelchair at all stops. The next day went to see my podiatrist, Dr. [REDACTED], DPM, who treat me up until December when my foot became severely infected, and had to go into the North Kansas City Hospital., and found out that the infection was in my bone and was under the care of Dr. [REDACTED] and Dr. [REDACTED]. Because of the strict care by the wound clinic and all they had to do, my foot was saved. I was in the hospital and long term care from December 6, 2011 until January 12, 2012. I was still under doctors care for an additional 6 months (approx). Due to the skechers I wore on my trip (one time only) that tore the skin off the bottom of my feet. I not only ran bills up to but not limited to $100,000 but I almost lost my foot (leg).

I let my dog outside to go to the bathroom before going to bed. It was dark and due to the poor design of my Skecher Shape-ups I lost my balance and fell to the ground. The end result of my fall was a severely broken ankle which had to be operated on and repaired with screws and plates to allow for the bones to heal correctly. These shoes were a terrible design that caused an accident that never would have occurred had I been wearing a traditional shoe. I am now faced with a lifetime of pain and discomfort from an ankle that never will be the same and thousands of dollars of medical bills and therapy. I am very angry that this company has caused me so much pain and suffering!

I walked app 1 mile in my skechers shape- ups on 01/22/2013 and 1 mile in the same shoes on 01/23/2013. Each walk was approximately 20 minutes in duration I experienced no falls,near falls,stumbles or twists and my colleagues walking with me can attest to that fact. At approximately 1 a.m. on the morning of 01/24/2013 I was awakened by excruciating pain in me left knee. I began icing and anti-inflammatories over the next several days. The pain worsened and swellings and stiffness set in. Finally, I saw an orthopedic surgeon on 01/28/2013. He advises I that I have patella-femoral syndrome. Given that I am otherwise healthy, that I experienced no trauma to the knee, my condition is from wearing the skechers shape-ups. I started PT on 02/01/2013 and remain essentially debilitated by me knee. I cannot believe the were ever allow edge to sell these inherently dangerous shoes. I did’t care about having the rear-end of a model, I just wanted stronger hamstrings and quads. Joke is on me! Now I am a virtual cripple!

I bought a pair of Skechers’ Shake-Up shoes on Aug 18th, 2012. I had worn them for 3 months (from Sept 2012 to Nov 2012). Skechers used to claim their Shake-Up shoes can help to build your body. However, these shoes didn’t work as they advertised and they cost permanent damage to my feet. During those three months, I used those shoes primarily for running and walking. Occasionally, I played Volleyball (around 4 times) in those shoes. Now I am diagnosed with Osteoarthritis on my big left toe. Osteoarthritis is rare among young adult (I’m 27 years old). My condition is definitely a result of wearing those shoes since I was extremely healthy before wearing those shoes and I had no injures on my foot before whatsoever. My life has changed dramatically after diagnosed with Osteoarthritis. I can’t go to gym, play sports and hang out with friends like I used to do any more. Even walking now is a pain. My doctor says there is no treatment for my condition except surgery. However, surgery is not recommended at this stage considering I can still walk (even though in pain). Osteoarthritis can only gets worse with age and eventually a surgery is inevitable. I have already spent hundreds of dollars seeking treatment but there is no positive response from the doctors I saw. I am also worried about the surgery expense that I will have to to cover in near future which I couldn’t afford for sure.
I am devastating now and everything has changed after wearing those shoes. I feel disappointed with Schechers because they misled their customers and I doubt if they had run reliable experiments on their Shake-Up shoes before putting them into market. I feel Skechers should be responsible (at least partially) for what I am experiencing now and should take further action to prevent this from happening on any of their customers.

I was ready to go home after helping my grandmother with parkinsons who lives in Marshfield. My aunt was driving me home. We were outside and I was walking down the outside stairs . I was on the last step to the bottom and my foot went in and I fell, breaking my tibia and fibula. I was wearing skechers shapeups which I got as an early birthday present and I was wearing them for the first day. The first words out of my mouth were”these stupid shoes!” I also knew something was wrong because my leg didn’t look right. Every little move I made I could hear the bones making a crackling noise. I had to hold it until the ambulance came in Marshfield and they brought me to South Shore in Weymouth. I was in shock the whole ride. They took x-rays( which I have) and saw the two broken bones (spiral fractures) in my leg. [REDACTED] did surgery and put in a rod and two pins. I stayed there after for four days. Then after that I went to a rehab for almost 2 months. There I did physical therapy 2 hours a day 6 days a week. I went through excruciating pain through this ordeal I’m happy to say Im home now and for you to know the skecher shapeups might look cool yet they are very dangerous and I would definately take them off the market, my opinion. Thanks!

The product, in the report: I have bought 4 pair of size 5 sketcher shape ups. 1 white, 1 gray/white/1 black and 1 tan. The first pair I bought was from JC Penney.com and the other 3 pair were purchased at the Sketchers store in the Great Lakes Crossing Mall in MI.
I have bought Sketcher shape ups and after wearing them for about a year and a half, I now have an ankle injury.

The product, in the report: Sketchers brand Shape-up Walking Shoes
While walking on a sidewalk wearing my Sketchers Shapeup Shoes I fell breaking my wrist and arm and re-injuring my arm which was previously in a cast. The fall resulted in two very painful settings of the bones, surgery, and a metal plate inserted in my arm. As a result of this accident I have pain on a daily basis and it affects my ability to write and use the computer which makes my job as an online professor most difficult. I knew that the shoes created an imbalance so I always walked very carefully when I had them on and was moving at a leisurely pace.

while wearing sketcher shape ups I was unable to keep my balance and fell forward landing on my shoulder causing rotator cuff damage.
Fell a second time trying to avoid stepping on a woman in Time Square, NYC and fell again doing additional damage to my shoulder and also my left hip.
It is impossible to keep your balance if you are leaning forward for what ever reason. It is like going over center. You have no control. You are going down.
