The product, in the report: The entire washer is rusted
The Samsung top loader washing machines recently recalled has caused other issues. The springs that wear out cause the tub to spin out of control and throw water and detergents all over the place. Our washer now is almost 100% rusted. It smells bad, and needs constant attention and cleaning.

Not said Made Nov 4, 2016, sent to the company Nov 15, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 30, 2016
The product, in the report: It was a basic top-load washing machine by Samsung.
My ex and I had just bought our house in 2012 when we purchased the Samsung Washer and Dryer: 790.941.73310 over Labor Day Weekend from HH Gregg in Greenville, SC. Maybe a year later, or less than, we were doing laundry and we heard a loud commotion, banging, crazy sound coming from our laundry room. We go in to look at the washing machine and it looked like someone had dropped a grenade in it...the internal drum was completely disconnected, there were dents around the entire casing that could be seen from the outside, and the top had gotten damaged.
I took pictures and called Samsung. Thankfully we had the warranty info. The guy came out to look at it to try and “repair” it. He said he would have to order a part...I fought it and eventually was able to get a new one.
I now have the replacement in my new home: Model No. 790.941.73310 Serial No. vf62607162, which is on the recall list. I’ve not had incident with this one though.

No one hurt Made Nov 2, 2016, sent to the company Nov 10, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 28, 2016
The product, in the report: Samsung top load washer
I own two Samsung washers that have been verified as being included in the defective models (WA50F9A6DSW/A2). Both were purchased in 2014. The one machine that gets used regularly has exploded. The lid has disintegrated and separated from the body of the machine. Who knows what damage has occurred inside the machine to cause this type of visible outward damage. After learning that that this was not an isolated case, I have called Samsung three times to try to get a resolution. The best I can describe the interactions is that I am given the run-around. On the first call they acknowledged the problem which I appreciated, and said I would receive a call to schedule service. When that call never happened, I called back and Samsung had no record of my first call. This time they gave me the number for a service company and a confirmation number. When I called the service company, they informed me that there would be a $99 service call fee and that I would be responsible for the cost of the repair. This did not seem right to me since I am dealing with a defective machine. So I called Samsung back for a third time only to be told that all repairs will be my responsibility. They made it clear that Samsung has no plans to repair, replace, or be responsible in any way for my washer exploding.

The top load washer has two pieces it appears that the washer attempted to come apart. the strange thing is that the dryer next to the washer was not damaged but the walls in the laundry room have to dents. Water has not emptied from washer I am going to have to bail the water out.

The product, in the report: Top loading Samsung Washer, Model WA400PJHDWR/AA01
I own a top load Samsung washing machine that is 3 years old and under the Premium Service Plan sold to me by HH Gregg. This plan has a life span of two more years as of November 1, 2016. I find that my washing machine is under investigation by Samsung and the CPC, but this does not solve my problem. The washing machine is the subject matter listed in a recent news article where-in the machine will vibrate out of control when in the spin cycle. Inspection of my unit reveals that the tub is separating from the side wall on the bottom and the plastic parts which make up the top of the tub are being chewed up somehow. In addition clothing is found to be stuck under the spinning parts on the bottom of the tub making it necessary to pull with force to remove the article of clothing. This is damaging to the clothing to say the least. Samsung reports when the CPC and Samsung reach “an agreement” they will notify me as to a solution. The warranty people tell me that if the machine is “still washing clothes” then the protection plan will not cover the problem and we must wait until complete failure of the machine is evident. This tells me two things, first the Premium Service Plan is not worth the paper it is written on and second considering the recent articles on Samsung products they are not worth my consideration in the future.

The product, in the report: Samsung top load washer
Our Washer is part of the recall for the top loading Samsung washers. Since the recall we have been aware of the problem with exploding tubs and we have chosen not to use the washer in the evening due to our children’s rooms being located by the laundry room. On 10/30/2016 we were in the living room while a load of laundry was being washed. We heard a loud bang from the laundry room. Went in to inspect and found that our entire washing tub had fallen to the bottom of the washer. The washer will not drain, spin or run a cycle. I feel very fortunate that it did not spin out uncontrollably as other’s have experienced, causing damage and harm to my family. However, this washer is only 5 years old and we have had it serviced when we move in order to make sure it was balanced right, it seems to me that this should have lasted longer than this time frame.

No one hurt Made Oct 30, 2016, sent to the company Nov 7, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 22, 2016
The product, in the report: Samsung top loading washer that is currently under the recall.
Samsung top loading washer W400 we purchased in 2013 is under recall. We are aware of the issues in the recall. Ours has stopped completing spin cycle at any spin speed, on any washing cycle including delicate. It shakes violently when it reaches maximum spin, pauses, then refills with water, attempts to spin again, pauses, refills with water, repeating this cycle over and over. This occurs no matter the size of the load. There is a serious problem with this washer, not just issues mentioned in recall (i.e. “high spin”) but the spin cycle altogether. My husband and I spent $510 dollars on this and calling Samsung did no good. There was not even an offer to send service person.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Loader Washing machine
We have a Samsung top loader washer and have been experiencing issues during the final spin phase. We have noticed very loud and heavy shaking with all loads big and small even on a delicate cycle. In most cases the device will shut off at this time and note the error message “DC” . However when I re-balance the load the same thing happens during the final spin cycle. Again this happens with all loads. The Shaking is so loud you can hear it can be heard outside the house. This device is only 3 years old and I feel Samsung has ignored my concerns. They have told me they are sorry but do not have an answer as to what I should do at this point.

The product, in the report: Samsung clothes washing machine
About one year ago when our five year old Samsung front load washer (model WF218ANW) was doing a load of laundry there was a loud clunk and vibration just at the end of the spin cycle. After consulting the internet it was determined that the flange shaft assembly probably cracked. The flange shaft assembly is bolted to the back of the stainless steel drum which is directly attached to the motor. The drum is held inside a two piece plastic tub which holds the water. Once the washer was disassembled it was confirmed that one of the three arms of the shaft assembly had indeed cracked. Although the washer is five years old the inside of the drum as well as the inside of the cabinet look new. There are no signs of leaks or any misuse and only HE detergent has been used. However, the back of the drum and the shaft assembly which have been sealed inside the tub looked like a giant Petri tree dish. When cloths are being washed they are constantly being sloshed into the same water that is being splashed onto the flange shaft assembly. In effect washing the cloths with water that contains whatever comes off the shaft assembly. The shaft assembly is a casting made with a metal other than stainless steel and since it does not have a smooth surface there are various areas where water can settle. It is also directly connected to the stainless steel drum with six stainless steel bolts. The different metals in direct contact with each other in a wet environment apparently causes the galvanic corrosion of the flange shaft assemble to the point of weakening. That coupled with the design of the part with all its nooks and crannies for water to settle makes me question the safety of the design. I do not know if this design is peculiar to this model washer or not but, if this problem is indeed real and not particular to our machine it could explain why there are complaints of a moldy smell inside some front loaders even thou the inside of the washer and rubber door ring seal is spotless.

The product, in the report: Top Load Washer
Samsung Top Load Washer will not complete wash load even on delicate and stops with DC Error during Spin cycle. To complicate issue further the operation of washer defaults back to the Rinse cycle once the load balance is redistributed, effectively circling back to Rinse > Spin and repeating the DC error again. This issue results in an increase in water and electric expense to me the Consumer. Further, this issue has been recognized by Samsung for over a month and have not provided a solution. This is a daily use item for a family of 4 and expensive to replace, especially when this item is 3 yrs old. Please push for a quick and speedy solution.

The product, in the report: Samsugn Washing Machine Model: WA400PJHDWR/AA S/N: Y69Q5AUD504081R
My Samsung washing machine falls under the current issue being resolved with Samsung. I’ve registered my washer with Samsung. Samsung’s website recommends using the delicate setting when washing clothes and it also states no incidents have been reported using that mode. My wife has been using that mode and I’m reporting that the behavior of my washing machine on gentle is no different than using any other mode. It still vibrates violently. I found my wife trying to hold the machine still so that it would finish its cycle. This is also causing increases in water bills, as the machine vibrates, becomes unbalanced, and then starts the rinse cycle all over. This is an unsafe product regardless of which setting it is placed on and Samsung is not being help accountable.

I have a Samsung washing machine and it vibrates excessively when used and there have been reports of them blowing up. The recommendation is to wash on the delicate cycle until a solution is found. In the mean time I have to use a defective product and hope it doesn’t blow up. I tried to get Samsung or Sears to replace it but neither one would do anything. I want another machine before it this one blows up.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Loader Washing Machine
I own a Samsung Top Loading Washer which by serial number and model number has been identified as possibly defective due to extreme vibrations. Several months ago my machine , when going into the spin cycle vibrated excessively to a point of being lifted off the floor. I tried all cycles, including the “DELICATE CYCLE” as recommended by Samsung to no avail. The machine vibrates to an extreme. I have ben standing by the machine during the cycles in order that I can shut off the power when the vibration starts. Samsung says they are in discussions with CPSC. Their help line apparently just reads off a card that says they are in discussions with CPSC and to use the delicate cycle. Their representatives do not say anymore. This is dangerous. A child standing near the machine could be seriously hurt.

Notification of issue with Samsung Top-Loading Washers - My model (MODEL #: WA45H7200AW/A2; SERIAL #0BHG5AUF401556J; 2014.04) is one of the affected models but l do not think that the issue is limited to bedding, bulky, and water proof items/cycles. I wash several loads a week in the middle of the night usually and only use the heavy duty, colors/darks, and bedding cycles. I noted that large loads of any kind that contain items of varying weights can on the other cycles (such as the heavy duty or colors/darks) cause violent vibrations/thrashing of the machine so much so that I have been woken on several ocasions and have had to run and pause the machine. I thought this was extreme but did not realize the extent of the instability. (I chalked it up to the poor quality of today’s this machines, and noted the need to try to be really careful about limiting sizes of loads and carsfully pre-balancing the load. (However going from my old six minute wash max / 30 minute full cycle to the new norm of a supposed cost saving 120 minute full load does make it difficult to reduce load sizes too much. Who has time to do more than one or two loads at 190-200 minutes for total washing and drying a load. My old norm was 70 minutes.) I can easily see how if my machine was left unattended or left to continue too long, how damage to surronding walls and or individuals trying too late to intervene, might occur as the vibrations are so violent the machine could very well break apart especially if high spin has been selected. The drum is not very well anchored in its housing chamber and there is a lot of play from side to side even at rest. Thus, in my opinion, the company is minimizing the potential for injury and damage. I was used to a top loader with an agitator and chose this machine because of the ten year warranty and my only other choice was a used agitator model as l could not locate a retailor who sold agitator models anymore (gone arevthe good old days). I was told this model would reduce the dryer times as it had the capacity to render clothing virtually just damp by the end of the high powered spin cycle. My drying times weren’t reduced because l started becoming afraid of using the high spin cycle. Replacing a machine is expensive; I paid $1112.97, not including charges to a Plumber for hooking it up properly (manufacturer’s instructions were not correct.). Having to modify my use in this way detracts from the value and purpose for the purchase. I am not at all satisfied with the company’s remedy of using the delicate cycle for bedding and “bulky” items (which translates into jeans, towels, and math mats, which are weekly washing fare in mine and most households). This implies that the company is not liable if the consumer ignores this warning. This is not fair to consumers like me. I would NEVER have bought this machine if I had been informed of these limitations. The machine already does a barely adequate job of cleaning normal to heavily soiled clothing and bedding on the cycles mentioned above even when manually overriding preset temp, spin and soil defaults and selecting “aqua jet”. Consumers should be able to return their machines for a safer and non-defective model rather than having to sacrifice the cleanliness of their clothing and linens while testing the fates with a potentially dangerous machine that could not only damage ones property but also cause harm to a child or other person in the vicinity if it started malfunctioning.

The product, in the report: SAMSUNG TOP LOADER WASHING MACHINE
I purchased a top loader washing machine in Nov 2012. (Yes it is on the list of damaged machines) For 2 months now the machine goes crazy and makes loud winding noises and pounds like it is going to explode! Last month I finally called 2 service people. One said he wouldn’t even touch a Samsung and the second said from the sounds of it it needs the shock absorbers replaced and if the machine is re-setting the computer,it is probably a computer problem. I decided to start looking around for a new machine when I saw the post from Samsung and Channel 7 news that there was a problem with these machines. I immediately called and went online and indeed there was a problem with my machine!..For a month now I am waiting and waiting and keep getting an answer that they don’t know what they are doing yet. My machine is way beyond the gentle cylcle as they recommend. Are they waiting till my machine goes on fire??? It does not rinse out and as soon as it starts is when it slams all over the place and yes IN EVERY CYCLE there are no cycles that work I need a machine quickly. I was told ,,,,Well if you need a machine buy one..Put the old one to the side!!! Where? I live in an apartment. I ill never ever buy a Samsung product again! Few years back I had a tv that all the color wheels went and it wasn’t even 4 yrs old also.Still wasn’t worth the money to fix!!!I have taken a few videos of the noise and pouncing it does

We were doing a regular load of laundry when water started pouring through the ceiling. I ran upstairs to where the washing machine was and it was dumping water everywhere and making a loud noise. We shut the water off and started cleaning the mess which had leaked through floor down to the next level. We then tipped the washer to see what the problem was and found that the plastic drain pump mount had snapped, dropping the pump and causing the drain hose to disconnect.

The product, in the report: White Samsung top-loading washer
Our Samsung washer exploded this afternoon. Model WA422PRHDWR/AA, S/N Y01Y5AECC00898M. Yes, it’s a recalled model -- one we never received a recall notice about. Home Depot will not cover this inexcusable damage due to Samsung’s announcement of a recall -- which really isn’t a recall, we’ve learned. They are the ones who told us Samsung washers have issues. We called a service number saying we *may* get a call in 7-10 days. This is unreal.
I heard a loud noise and my washer had jolted itself away from the wall, and was making a violent noise. Mind you, the load was normal as was the cycle. I pressed “stop” on the machine, and noted the interior drum looked mangled on the inside. The top of the washer seems to have exploded from the joint.
This is very dangerous. I’ve come to find you’ve already been contacted regarding this issue -- PLEASE HELP. Samsung set up a special hotline to apparently deal with this issue -- the best response we got calling in was that someone would call us in about two weeks! No offer of any solution or help, aside from an email to tell us to wash our clothes on the delicate cycle! Our machine is destroyed! And it isn’t because we washed what they are claiming are “water-resistant” or “bedding” items. What a cop-out to infer that this is somehow a consumer abuse issue.
How is this possibly ok? From exploding phones to exploding washers -- this is completely unacceptable. Please help.

When my Samsung Top loader goes through all the cycles not matter what setting when it finishes rinsing and it starts to the spin it will go off kilter and shakes vigorously and then it refills with water to redistribute the load. This continues until you turn off the machine. We have a well and septic. This continues we will have to pump our septic tank due to the excess water. I called Samsung and they said to run it on the delicate cycle so when it goes off kilter and shakes the damage will be minimal. Thanks Samsung for the help. He told me I will be notified when a remedy is completed. What about my laundry? No answer.

The product, in the report: Top-Loading Washing Machine
The consumer indicates that no matter the clothing size load inside her washing machine, it is extremely loud during its SPINNING cycle. The washing machine vibrates during this time and although it is not extreme, the consumer’s husband always ends up having to push the unit back against the wall. The consumer initially thought this was probably due to an unbalanced load but after balancing her load and noting that it did not fix the issue, she came to the conclusion that it had to be a manufacturer’s defect.
The consumer states that her washing machine has never been inspected. The consumer indicates that she uses her washing machine at least once a day. After having learned about the pending recall, the consumer began following the Manufacturer’s suggestions on using the washing machine it is DELICATE cycle. The consumer states that washing her clothes in this cycle is futile as the clothing is not properly washed and are so damp that she has to spin them more than once.
According to the Manufacturer’s website, the consumer’s washing machine is included in the recall that has yet to be released. The consumer is unsure if she will be keeping her washing machine for at least the next thirty days.

Samsung washing machine failed causing tons of water to fluid my upstairs from the laundry closet to the hallway approx 10ft total. Soaking carpet and causing water damage to my downstairs ceiling. The water was dripping from the ceiling below out of the lighting fixtures into my kitchen. Contacted Lowe’s Home Improvement where I purchased machine and purchased machine and extended warranty (warranty good until 2018). Repair man arrived today saying machine is not fixable and can not be used at all even on delicate cycle. Informed me to contact Samsung. Contacted Samsung today, they informed me no resolution is in sight and I need to wait while they come up with a solution. Can’t wash clothes at my house and have 3 small kids.

The product has been recalled in Canada, Australia and I believe in NZ so is the US not far behind or is this on the radar at all??

now making more noise on spin cycle, as of today 10/17, find out thru Consumer Reports and SAMSUNG website that my model/serial no. is affected by a serious issue which could result in EXPLOSION. My machine WA45H7000 is already recalled in Canada; there are numerous class action lawsuits, one of which I’ve been asked to join. So far after three weeks of 9/28 annoucement, there is NO UPDATE from Samsung or CPSC.
What is happening? Why aren’t these being recalled, so I can repair/replace this before someone gets seriously injured?

Samsung top loading washing machine basin became dislodged while in spin cycle.

While on the final spin of the cycle, the basin in the machine broke free of it’s support. Basin began spinning against all four sides of the machine walls, and violently moving around the floor. Upon removing the power cord from the outlet, it then stopped. The side walls of the machine have dents from where the basin was spinning against, fortunately, not breaking through.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Loading Washer Model No. WA50F9A7DSW/A2 Serial No. Y7CG5AUD603361V
Hello,
I have one of the top loading washers that are affected by the top falling off. My washer’s top shot off completely in the end of February. On March 1st I called Samsung to inform them of the problem. The top shot off the washer and the levers on each side that had held it on were rusted and sharp. I had actually cut my finger on one. Anyhow, Samsung talked as if it were our fault and said it wouldn’t be covered under any type of warranty. They sent me to a 3rd party to pay for the repair, which was going to cost a couple hundred dollars. We did not do the repair because we knew it was a faulty washer and were going to try Samsung again.
Since March 1st, the only way I can keep my top on my washer is by using a 20 pound weight to set on top of it. I have been using the light spin since the top broke off in February but the weight will still fall off onto the floor. It is not safe.
Not only has the top shot off but the unit around the lid is all rusted and so it part of the lid. This washer isn’t even 2 years old and began rusting within a year’s time. On top of that, the cap on the inside of the washer came off during a load of clothes and tore many of the clothes in the washer. We tried to repair it and it did it again with the next load. We have about 15 pieces of clothing ruined because of it.
October 3rd is when I heard about the top loading issue. I was not surprised at all. I went onto the Samsung website and entered my washer model and serial number and foudn out it WAS one that was affected.
On the same day, I called Samsung customer service to ask if there was anything they could do in the meantime. It is NOT safe and I shouldn’t have to pay hundreds of dollars to have it fixed. It cost over $1,000 less than two years ago and was a Christmas gift to my husband and I by my in-laws. The girl I spoke with talked to her supervisor who informed me that I should not use the washing machine at all. Really?? That is terrible customer service. We’re a family of four with two kids in travel sports. I wash clothes consistantly and need a working, safe washing machine. I told her the only way I can stop using it is if they will replace it. I’d even be happy with them fixing it for now. When I asked her how long it would take for a solution to be determined she told me she didn’t know and it could takes months. I just can’t see where that is ok.
So now I’m using an unsafe washer, because it was made faulty, and there’s nothing that can be done to help me. What a terrible feeling.
I’m in the process of creating a letter to send to several places but wanted to contact you before I did that. I’m hoping you can do something to help me instead.
Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: White, top-loaded, with black see-thru top
Whenever I use my Samsung washer machine, which is about 2.5 years old, it both leaks from the bottom, and vibrates very strongly and unnaturally. When the vibrations start, there are usually very loud, booming and banging noises. The machine usually wobbles back and forth due to the vibrations, and has, on occasion, moved over a foot from where it started the wash. The vibrations seem to occur prior to the last spin/rinse cycle. They also do not cause the machine to register an error, and thereby have the machine stop itself.
Neither my wife or I do a load of wash unless we are at home. That being the case, we are able to stop the washer as soon as the violent vibrations start. I do not know what would happen if we didn’t; the vibrations only seem to get worse the longer you let the machine run. In order to successfully do a load of wash, we have to run the machine up until the banging starts, stop the machine, and put it through a manual rinse/spin cycle.
I have contacted Samsung multiple times about both the leaking, and vibration issues. In addition to them being extraordinarily unhelpful, the only time they took me semi-seriously is when I mentioned that I thought the washer leak may have caused water damage to my home. After going through the exhaustive claims process in which I had to resubmit the paperwork multiple times because either “I never sent them anything” or “they lost it” , I never heard back from Samsung on the status of my claim.
This is an ongoing problem as my wife and I still use the washer because we can’t afford a new one.

The product, in the report: Top loading washer machine that continually leaks.
After we moved into our new home on September 7th our Samsung washer leaked water from the second floor to the first floor. A technician visited the week of September 19th, diagnosed the problem, and discovered that Samsung had issued an alert. The technician ordered the correct replacement part and, the following week, repaired the machine according to the manufacturer’s specifications. We followed the recommendation to use only small loads on the delicate cycle but the machine broke again and caused a second leak, once again from the first to the second floor. The flooding caused water and electrical damage to our home.

The consumer’s washer moves around during use, regardless of what setting she uses or the size of the load.
The washer becomes off-balance even when she does baby clothing on the delicate cycle. The problem primarily occurs when the washer is in the rinse cycle and there are approx. 15 min left.
7/01/2016: The consumer has a warranty with the retailer. A technician was sent to her home from Capitol City Appliances. The tech. replaced a part of the washer, which was supposed to keep the washer in-line, while the washer is in use. The consumer did not have to pay for the repair. This appeared to correct the problem, but within a month, the problem reoccurred.
10/4/2016: A tech. from the same service company came out and looked at the washer. The tech. ran water in the machine without putting any clothing inside, but he could not duplicate the problem. The consumer suggested putting clothes in the washer and trying it, but the tech. did not want to do that. The consumer was advised to call the dealer and report the problem.
She called the dealer, who was aware of the current issue with this mfr’s washers and they will no longer service them. She was referred to the mfr. The service company also told her that they were no longer servicing the problem.
The consumer called a manufacturer’s number which was set up for issues with these washers. but was only able to leave a message.
10/10/2016: A man named [REDACTED] called the consumer back, but was not willing to assist her. The consumer said the machine was malfunctioning, but he said it was not recalled. The consumer asked for a manager and was placed on hold for a while. [REDACTED] came back and said that they would pay for parts, but not service. The consumer told him that she may join the class action law suit. She was placed on hold and [REDACTED] came back and said that they would cover service and labor, but could not provide written verification that the washer safe to use.
The consumer is afraid that the washer may explode during use’ no inujuries or damages

The product, in the report: Top-Loading Washer
The consumer states that she began experiencing problems with her washing machine within a month of having purchased it. The unit is very loud when it is in its SPIN cycle and no matter how balanced she puts her clothing inside it, it always wobbles and becomes unbalanced, prompting the really loud spinning.
The consumer indicates that she never washes large loads of clothing but rather only a quarter full since her family is very small.
The consumer states that she never reported the issues she was experiencing with her washing machine to the Manufacturer. When the consumer learned that the Manufacturer is working with the U.S. CPSC to come up with the terms for a recall of certain models of their washing machines, she contacted them and was informed that her unit is going to be part of said recall. The consumer indicates that she is very upset that Samsung did not contact her directly to let her know her unit is defective despite her having registered her product; she believes they are poorly handling the matter.
The consumer plans on keeping her washing machine for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: Samsung top load washer Model#WA5451ANWXAA02
I attempted to send a registered report, but after completing all the information, your site said ‘’ page not found ‘’.
I have an affected Samsung top load washer reported by the National Network news, Digital Trends, and Consumer Reports.
Serial #Y0IX54BC100266X…….Model#WA5451ANWXAA02. I entered the serial number on the Samsung website, and their site did ‘’ Red Flag ‘’ my washer as one of the affected models. My washer purchase was from Lowe’s in [REDACTED]. The purchase date was 03/15/2012.
I began having mechanical problems, possibly related to the reported malfunctions of the many reported exploding machines. My problems began ( approximately ) 06/10/2015, with my Samsung. My Samsung began making odd mechanical noises within the machine. I noticed that wash loads became more unbalanced than usual. This occurred even with loads smaller than the manual instructed me to use with this washer…far smaller than what a 5+ cubit foot machine is capable of. I would literally have to stay with the washer to monitor it as it would go thru a cycle. This was beyond any minor annoyance.
The washer also began, at around the same time as the above reported incident, to malfunction on the spin and drain portion of a given cycle. It also began to improperly refill with water, at the END of each final rinse cycle. Instead of completely draining, it would stop and refill itself again. This would happen even without the extra rinse cycle engaged. The tub would also sometimes completely overfill. Again, I would have to stay right with the machine to mechanically stop it by powering it down. If I didn’t, the water level would attempt to go completely to the top of the basket. I would have to stay with the machine so that it wouldn’t flood the laundry room. As you know, these are so called energy efficient washers. They use MUCH less water than center agitator machines. Filling to the brim is NOT supposed to be a function of this machine.
I had a Lowe’s serviceman out on 3 different occasions with these ongoing and worsening situations. They replaced the entire electronic top panel, MEMS sensors, bottom wire harnesses, and other parts. Over $500.00 worth of parts at this point. In between a couple of the services, I was closely watching the washer thru a spin cycle, when it ‘’lurched’’ and made an extremely loud mechanical ‘’ Bang ‘’ sound. It sounded to me as if something had broken loose. This was akin to a gunshot…and I’m not exaggerating. I’m a retired law enforcement officer, and this was LOUD ! This was during the ‘’ spin ‘’ cycle. I immediately powered the machine down. The machine also began to make some unpleasant mechanical sounds that I hadn’t heard before at this time. I’ve noticed that when in a spin cycle, the machine can sometimes shake fairly violently. I mentioned this incident to the Lowe’s serviceman, but he didn’t give any explanation. He either thought I was making this up, or he had NO clue what the machine had actually done. He replaced some more parts, but couldn’t get the Samsung to replicate the sound again. The last round of parts did resolve ( for the time being ) the drain & rinse malfunctions. But not the unbalanced problem or the spin cycle issues and mechanical noises.
However, since these problems began in 2015, the washer has never sounded right or washed correctly on some cycles like it did when it was new. I still have to constantly monitor the machine during the spin cycles. It now becomes more unbalanced than it did when first purchased. I’m constantly having to stop the machine and rebalance the load by hand. There’s only two people in my household. My wife and myself…no children. This machine is NOT used on a daily basis like it would be with 3 or 4 kids. It’s had relatively light duty since purchased in 2012. There is no way this machine has been overused.
It was only recently that I read the Consumer Reports and Digital Trends articles on line about the dangerous problems with some Samsung top loaders. Needless to say, after reading numerous testimonials online by the many affected consumers, and some pretty frightening photos of Samsung washers that had literally blown apart, I have been even even more cautious with my Samsung top loader. I’m now only using my washer when absolutely necessary. I’ve instructed my wife to stay completely away from it while it’s operating. I, unfortunately, have to stay around it because of the unbalanced problem, and the sometimes un-nerving mechanical sounds it makes. This is also worth mentioning. My gas water heater is located next to my washer in the laundry room. This could be a potentially lethal combination if my Samsung washer decides to come apart or explode like some of these other folks machines have. This is definitely not confidence inspiring.
I want to commend the CSPC for bringing this important and possibly life saving information about these defective machines to the public’s attention. In doing so, you have probably saved some lives….including the lives of small children and pets. I hope that you and Samsung can come to a viable and workable agreement on how to help the owners of these washers get a safer product into their homes. I for one, will never again own another Samsung washing machine. I own other Samsung products that have given me good service. However, I’ve lost faith in the Samsung name. I’m sure that I am not the only Samsung top loader owner that feels this way. If they only create a ‘’fix’’ with some sort of replacement parts, or offer a Samsung replacement washer only, this, in my humble opinion, will be totally unacceptable. They should at least offer an in-store credit for a washer of the exact monetary value that the customer spent on their Samsung purchase….even if that customer chooses to go with another brand. To many of us, that would be what I consider a more than fair option.
Samsung should consider the alternative….expensive class action lawsuits for faulty machines. But even worse…the loss of life incurred by one of these machines.
Again….thank you CSPC for the job that you do.
Sincerely, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Samsung 4.5-cu ft High-Efficiency Top-Load Washer (White), purchased at Lowe’s in Springfield, MO. Model number: WA45H7000AW/A2, Serial: 0BHE5AUH116077
I purchased a washer and dryer set from Lowe’s on 05/28/16. The item in concern is a Samsung washer, model WA45H7000AW/A2. The serial number is 0BHE5AUH116077. After installing the set, I noticed the washer has excessive vibration compared to other washers used. I contacted Lowe’s, in which they send a home repair person to inspect the washer. He informed me that all newer washers shake to a certain extent, and that it was working as designed. I recently became aware from internet articles that Samsung top-loading washers are under review for excessive vibration and destructing in people’s homes. I checked on Samsung’s website to see if my washer is affected, and it simply informs me that the serial number that I entered is invalid. I contacted Samsung’s customer service by phone, and the representative informed me that it’s an invalid serial number. The serial number that was provided to me comes from the packaging the washer shipped in, no type of labeling or sticker was affixed to the washer reflecting any manufacturing/identifying information. The representative simply said that there is no way to determine if my washer is affected unless I have a valid serial number. I am contacting the CPSC to see if there is a way to get this resolved, or if I can be directed to the correct place to. Also, I need to some how find out if my washer is affected.

I put a set of sheets in the washing machine before going to bed. In the middle of the night I was woken by a loud scraping sound. This was despite the fact that I was two floors above the washing machine. In the morning I saw that the machine was almost 2 feet away from the wall and turned at an angle. The top piece of the machine was coming away from the body. There were dents on every side of the machine, which look like something from the inside caused them. The door will no longer open.

The product, in the report: Top Loading Washer
This caller purchased his original top loading washer from a retailer in Pearl City, Hawaii. This washer was delivered, was damaged January 2016 and it was replaced by the washer being reported. The replacement washer was delivered March 9, 2016. Washer legs were adjusted and leveled. Subsequently, machine vibration was an issue.
He contacted the installer March 26, 2016 to report that the washer had moved, had shifted position by 0.5 inch, unsure if legs even.
The installer came to the caller’s home April 1, 2016 and advised the caller that the right front foot was lower than it was supposed to be, he adjusted the front foot and measured for levelness. He also adjusted back foot.
September 13, 2016 the caller’s sister used his washer and informed him that the washer was rocking.
The caller looked at the right front foot which was off the ground so he adjusted the right front foot to be level with the floor. wobbly.
The caller contacted the customer service line October 5, 2016 when he noticed that the foot was not stable again and he believes had been and had continued to be moving out of where it should be to level the washer.
He did notice that the tub of the machine hit the right side of the washer on several occasions.
October 7, 2016 the service technician came to the caller’s home and after informing him that if he rocks his drum front to back there is more play than if it is back to front.
The service technician advised the caller that he has to order four dampers to repair the machine, two in the back and two in the front to repair this condition. Following 10/14/16 installation of dampers, washer vibration and noisiness continued to be present.
There are no injuries being reported
The caller has been in touch with the manufacturer a few times during the past few months

The product, in the report: Samsung Washing Machine
On 8/11/15, our Samsung Washer leaked gallons of water through our 1st floor laundry area down into our daughter’s bedroom. The model number of the washer is WA400PJHDWR/ AA. The serial number is Y69Q5AECB04812Z. The electricity had to be turned off in the basement due to the risk of an electrical short and fire hazard. The entire ceiling in the bedroom was ruined, her clothes were soaked and the floor in her room was saturated with water. Water was found pooled in a light fixture located in her ceiling tile. Samsung consumer products division was contacted immediately and a report was generated on-line. A service appointment was received on 8/14/15. The service technician informed us that the drain pump was misdesigned to be under the tub. Vibrations from the tub caused the housing to crack open and the pump leaked expelled fluid under the unit. He told us that it was a flaw known to Samsung but that no recall was issued to pro-actively replace and relocate the pumps to a different location under the machine. Photos showing the water damage were sent to Samsung on 8/13/15. The wet clothes were laundered at a laundromat, the floor dried and new ceiling tiles purchased to replace the ruined ceiling. All of the work was performed by ourselves. On 10/27/15 a receipt for the cost of the ceiling tiles was submitted to Samsung for reimbursement. On 11/26/15, the receipt was resubmitted as there was no response to the first submission. On 12/28/15, I contacted the head of Samsung quality, [REDACTED] directly and asked for assistance with receiving a reimbursement check A reply from an [REDACTED] was received on 1/4/16 stating that a reimbursement check would be issued to cover the cost of the ceiling tiles. On 1/13/16, we received an email stating that a reimbursement check had been cut for the cost to the damages. Yesterday, we read that the same machine is being investigated for explosion risk. It should be obvious that the design of this machine is truly flawed and dangerous for the consumers. It can lead to water damage and fire hazard along with explosion of the unit. We feel quite strongly that this unit should be eligible for a complete refund that can be used to purchase another machine from a different manufacturer.

Our Samsung top loading washing machine (purchase at Sears on February 2nd, 2013) has broken its internal agitation basket (where the clothes sit) loose twice. It causes the washer to move around in an unsafe manner when it lets go and it sounded like a gun went off. I have had this repaired twice by a Samsung service technician and it’s now out of warranty and broken again and this time it’s shredded itself up good. We were advise not to use anything but the delicate setting... that didn’t help nor is it a very good work around. Samsung should be ashamed of themselves for putting people in these types of positions and selling expensive shoddy products that blown themselves up! This is dangerous and it’s getting out of hand!
It’s a Samsung HE (High Efficiency) 4.5 Cubic Foot Top Load Washer with part number 26-36591 from the receipt and model number - WA456DRHDSU/AA
Serial number - Y6BP5AECB00616T
The first time it happened was approximately July 12th, 2013. It was repaired and it happened again on August of last year. It was repaired again, and it happened once more! This is not a safe or good product. Imagine if it was on a pedestal and it tipped itself over!

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load Washer
I purchased a new Samsung Top Load Washer in March 2013 and it worked just fine until about 5 months ago. During the final spin cycle when set on high spin the machine knocks, and violently vibrates to the point the the washer actually physically moves and then stops because clothing inside become unbalanced. I have had to stop the wash cycle spin and use the spin only cycle to drain my clothes either one item at a time or by carefully positioning a few pieces of clothing at a time in the tub to balance the weight. I often have to repeat this 3 or 4 times before I actually get the items to completely spin enough to place in the dryer. It has been not only inconvenient but frightening because of the loud noise and violent jumping of the machine. I then was seeking service when I learned about the recall and have report my machine to Samsung awaiting instructions for how they plan to fix this or replace my machine. I have only entered today’s date but this has happened every time the washer is used.

The product, in the report: 4.5 cu.ft. King-size Capacity High Efficiency Top Load (Electric) Washer (Stainless Platinum)
For 3 months I have not been able to complete a full load of wash. 1st the machine made an awful racket on any final spin cycle & would not complete the cycle. I would get dc sometimes, but mostly 3E. I called AMT, as they are the people who hold my extended coverage policy (per Samsung). I had to put the phone near the washer so they could hear the racket before they would send anyone out. The serviceman said the machine was out of balance and replaced a rod & the transmission. It still made an awful racket & he was back 2Xs. He also greased the area (with a tin that I had to personally pay for ($124.00)) as AMT would not pay under the extended coverage. Within a couple of weeks the noise lowered BUT I could not longer do any wash past 3 towels. Anytime I did I had to hand wring out each small load. Finally I became good friends w/ my local laundromat. I called AMT again & complained that I could not use the washer as 3E constantly came up. They said that they would have someone come out. No one called & I asked again. They got someone else to service & they did not call. AMT was called again and finally a company on the other side of FL called & came out. They reviewed the current problems: 1/would not spin, 2/ water going into machine would not turn off automatically, 3/ the 3E symbols consistently showed and 4/ it would take hours for the machine to get into the rinse. Now it does not even get to rinse before it stops. The rep said I needed a new motor & water pressure disc (?) & replace the remaining rods. In the meantime, I’ve become better friends w/ the owner of my local laundromat. I purchased a Samsung washer/dryer on Consumer Reports review. I still have no motor and no use of the washing machine.

Washing a mattress pad, which I’ve washed in the past, I heard an explosion. When I went to the laundry room, the door was blocked from the inside of the room but I was able to get a bit open to see that the top of the washer was blown of the body of the washer. The laundry room door was blocked by the dryer being moved by the explosion. I was able to get the dryer moved sufficiently to open the laundry room door and discovered that the top of the washer was blown off, moving the washer into both the dryer (which then blocked the door) as well as the refrigerator that was blown about a foot over and doors blown open. The washer was turned sideways and the top was on the side of the washer on the floor. Other parts of the washer were blown across the room. Damage to both appliances next to the washer (dryer and refrigerator) as well as a hole in the drywall behind the washer.

On Sunday our washing machine during a wash started making a high pitched metal on metal scraping sound and shaking violently. Then it stopped and would not restart. I was able to unlock the lid and retrieve my clothes which had bits of plastic on them from the machine. The machine now has standing water inside it which will not drain and plastic pieces from the washing machine floating in it. The top loading washing machine is only just over a year old and was bought brand new from Lowe’s. I’ve contacted Samsung 3 times since then. First they told me to go to a laundromat and I would hear from them in a months time! We are a family of four and live in the mountains so this is totally unacceptable. The second time we were given a ticket number and were told we would be called on Monday. We never were. Today they told me they would send a repair engineer to fix it. But I can’t get hold of the repair engineer they told me I have to use.

I own a Samsung washing machine (model no. WA48H7400AW/A2) which exploded today 10/4/2016, while I was home doing a load of laundry. The whole top of the washer blew off and spun 180 degrees around in my laundry room. The tub of the washer is cracked and the metal to which the top was adhered is bent and somewhat ripped off. The force of the machine also caused damage to the wall in my laundry room.
I have reported this to the Samsung corporation and am awaiting for a resolution.

The product, in the report: Samsung Washing Machine Model No. WA456DRHDWR/AA Serial No. Y0IX5AEC800456Z
On August 10, 2016 I sent a letter to Samsung Electronics advising them that our machine is vibrating/shaking out of control and sounds like it is going to “blow apart”. The condition started appearing in early June shortly after a Samsung technician performed a warranty repair (defective drain pump and faulty/rusty top) on the machine in late May, 2016. The machines shakes out of control no matter how many clothes are put in the machine. I sent video of this to Samsung as well. On August, 15, 2016 Samsung dispatched a technician again to repair the machine. The machine appeared to operate properly for about 10 days, and again started exhibiting the same conditions - the machine starts shaking no matter how many clothes are put in the machine. It appears the basket/drum assembly keeps coming loose. I have struggled with Samsung and the repair center over this and have spent hours on the phone trying to get someone at Samsung to listen to me. On Sept. 29, 2016 I was just given authorization for a repair technician to come back again for the 3rd time to attempt to repair it. I am extremely concerned since the first 2 attempts to fix this machine were unsuccessful. The machine is barely operable and shakes out of control.
This machine is covered under the safety warning issued by the CPSC on Sept. 28, 2016 regarding these same conditions on Samsung washing machines.

The product, in the report: Samsung TM Power Foam Washer, white, top loader
The second load of laundry was underway. No problems with the first load. Suddenly, we heard very loud noises--banging and thumping--coming from the basement. Ran downstairs to find that the washing machine had “walked” 1-2 feet out of its place between the laundry tub and dryer, knocked aside the laundry tub and broke a leg off the tub, and ended up at an angle and was not operating. The hoses were extended to their full length but still attached. Had I not had heavy duty hoses attached when the machine was installed I think the machine would have kept moving.
We tried to shimmy the washer back into place and checked the troubleshooting guide in the manual without finding any related information. The load in the machine was not too large and didn’t seem to be out of balance. We fixed the laundry tub as best we could, then turned the washer on to complete the cycle. We remained in the room to watch the machine. Completed the cycle with no other problems. Have had minor “walking” and shimmying periodically.
On 9/30/16, read an article in the Washington Post, “Another Exploding Samsung Product,” inviting reports of past incidents.

The product, in the report: Samsung top laod washing machine white
February 2016 I purchased a samsung dryer because my original dryer went bad. I decided to purchase a new washing machine along with thee dryer even though my washing machine was still good. I received my new washing machine and procrastinated on hooking it up since my old one was working perfectly fine. I decided to hook up my new machine and say goodbye to the old one a month after receiving it. I hooked up the machine and it was horribly loud made banging noises and vibrated way out of the norm in the spin cycle, would keep refilling, and takes forever to finish a cycle. I immediately called best buy for a return, they told me since I waited past 30 days it was a manufacture issue. I then immediately called samsung. Samsung sent out a technician and the technician said the machine wasn’t level and since we bought a low end model thats how it works. Samsung refused to do anything. Keep in mind my fiance was home when the technician was there. I checked the machine when I got home and it was level. Till this day the machine shakes violently in the spin cycle and now I hear there is a recall. I will never in my life purchase samsung. I feel like my hard earned money was put to waste on an important investment my family depends on to stay sanitary.

The product, in the report: Samsung top load 120 VAC washing machine white in color
Was washing 1 full size quilted blanket on the bedding setting and washing machine suddenly started to violently rock back and forth and sounded like it would come apart. We thought it might be an unbalanced load but before we could get to it, it banged the wall and stopped with a tub full of water and would not spin out the water. It would not drain and it would not spin. I pulled the power plug and shut down the washer and I had to remove the wet blanket and wring it out by hand. Then I plugged in the washer, turned it on without the blanket, and put in on drain cycle, then it did spin and drain. This washer has banged and bumped before on heavy loads like with jeans or sheets but never so violently and never had problems spinning or draining until this time.

The product, in the report: TOP LOADING WASHING MACHINE
Regarding Samsung Top Loading Washing Machine purchased August 2015 and verified serial number as being affected on Samsung website.
Washing machine has severely vibrated and moved on the floor since purchase. I felt that the vibration and movement was in excess of any machine I have owned over last three decades. I have decreased the spin speed on every wash cycle to decrease as much as I could the vibration the entire time I have owned this machine....still we have had to move the machine back to it’s original sitting position on multiple occasions. Samsung’s current suggestion(to use the gentle cycle) is not a viable solution to properly clean laundry as this setting does not allow for the use of hot water and does not properly remove excess water from the laundry. It is my hope that this machine will be recalled.

The product, in the report: Samsung top-loading washing machine
I was prompted to report this after the recent news about Samsung top-load washing machines exploding. My washing machine model is listed as one affected. Mine has NOT exploded. However, for the last several months it HAS been been very “off-balance” very often. It is so off-balance that it bangs around with very loud booms and shaking. I often have to re-configure the clothes 4-5 times and sometimes turn it off and on repeatedly to get the shaking to stop and the spin the cycle to finish. This is particularly true if there are any towels in a load--whether one towel or all towels. Originally I thought that his was just very annoying and made me want to buy a new washer. However, after the reports of explosions I realize this may be even more serious, and a safety issue.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Loader Washing Machine
I own a Samsung Top Loader Washing Machine where I heard stories in the news recently about them exploding. Samsung claims they are working with your organization towards a resolution. In the mean time, I am stuck with a machine that I cannot use. I have young kids and babies in my house and it is simply not safe to use. Samsung stated that you can use the machine on a lower setting, but this setting is less likely to clean the clothes, and still Samsung can’t offer a guarantee that the machine won’t explode on this setting (they are only saying that no one has claimed that it exploded on this setting which doesn’t make it safe).
Note that Samsung in Australia has already issued a recall for this same machine. Why is the process slower here in the US? The machines are not safe, therefore a recall should be issued. http://www.samsung.com/au/washingmachinerecall/

Subject: Samsung Top Loading Washing Machine. Model #WA400PJHDWR/AA Ser.# Y69Q5AEC703179Z Date of purchase 9/10/2012
For the record let it be known that in July of 2015 I reported to Samsung that our washing machine was having trouble with it’s spin cycle and that the drum was hitting the sides of the washing machine causing it to bounce from side to side. Samsung refused to do anything due to it was out of warranty. During the spin cycle the drum would hit the sides of the machine no matter how large of a load it had. In the end, cost us nearly $200.00 in repairs and the repair man informed us it was a common problem and Samsung was aware of it. Over time the springs would stretch due to they are too weak to support the drum and it’s load resulting in the drum to hit the sides durning the spin cycle. The repair man could only replace the springs with new factory springs which in the end will result in the same problem over time.
Repair date 7/21/15 General Appliance Service State Lic.# [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED]
Repairmen’s Comments, “Washer suspension shocks are stretched, banging the sides of the washer.” Suggestions, “Do not overload washer”
Due to my customer service call and the repairmen’s comments leads me to believe that Samsung was aware of the problem and chose not to do anything about the problem.
Thank you, Ron Santellano

The product, in the report: Top loaded Samsung washing machine
My washing machine was on a normal cycle I was washing two sheets and two pillowcases and I heard a loud bang it sounded like something came through my roof. I check my entire house my two young children what is sterically crying we were in complete panic. The washing machine was actually the last thing I checked when I went over to it I noticed the whole huge hole in the wall and I noticed the sides and front of the washing machine completely exploded. about a minute laterwater began to flood throughout my entire house bathroom and living room.I began to panic as I live alone I tried to dry as much water as I possibly could. I called Samsung immediately and reported the incident. They told me somebody would call me within 24 hours. They also asked me to leave the washing machine in the place that it exploded I told them that it flooded my home and my floors . Somebody did call me the following day at that point he asked me to continue to leave the item in the same spot so they could come and take pictures and investigate. The following day somebody came out took pictures of the items that were in the washing machine as well as the washing machine and left. I contacted Samsung again to ask when they were going to have somebody come and pick up the washing machine as I already had mold growing up my walls in my hallway and on the sidewall of my bathroom which is connected to my laundry room. They told me somebody would come within 24 hours to pick up the washing machine and they did. They told me they would send me a reimbursement check for the washing machine I went back-and-forth with them for four weeks waiting on the reimbursement check to purchase a new washing machine. They told me to get an estimate for the damage and which I did send over immediately they told me they would work on getting that check sent out, as I did notify them that I could not have the work done to the home until I receive the check. I also made them well aware that I had two young children in the home and there was mold in my hallway bathroom right near my living room. It took over six weeks to receive the check for the washing machine. I have contacted them and email them in regards to the reimbursement check for the damage because I need not only for the walls to be treated for mold but I need the wall that was broken and the explosion closed back up. I also asked them when they told me they were administering The check for the washing machine if this seem to be an ongoing issue so I knew not to get the same washing machine and the same dryer as my dryer stopped working after all of the water damage and the significant mold. I want to head and ordered the same washer and dryer because I was told by two separate people that this was not a known issue and I had nothing to worry about . That day was very terrifying for myself and my two young children and if I known this was an issue I would’ve never ordered the same products. Since this incident both of my children became very sick with breathing issues. My son is on a nebulizer for his lungs as well as an asthma pump three times a day. I had Explained the severity of this every time I spoke to somebody that the mold was growing up the walls and I have two young children and it’s on my main floor right off from my living room as well as my bathroom .

Samsung exploding washers:
Over the last 2 weeks my washer vibrates violently when it gets to the Spin Cycle, and then stops, displaying ‘dc’ as the error message. Rebalancing the load, lighthening it, adding more, does nothing to help with the error.
I saw the news items about exploding washers and checked the serial number on the Samsung website. My washer is one of the models affected - and believe that if I continue using it, may blow apart.

My Samsung top load washer has been shaking violently during the spin cycle for the past couple of months. I had a Best buy technician come out to take a look and he did try to fix the problem. He told me that it was a loose bolt or two that needed to be tightened down. It did help for about a week or so and then the shaking resumed.
This is the first I have heard about it being a possible recall issue and I would like to know how to find out more about the problem and if Samsung is hiding any pertinent information from consumers.
Thanks for you help in this matter -

Samsung top load washer, like other reports recently published, cannot complete a load of wash without washer rocking back and forth in a violent matter due to the drum bouncing off the inside walls. I called Samsung about a moth ago and was informed the 3 year old washer is not under warranty, only the motor had a 10 year warranty. The agent walked me through the recalibrating process to balance the machine but it made no difference. Regardless of the size of the load or the speed of the rinse cycle this problem continues. Now, after seeing how some have busted into pieces I am concerned my wife or children could get injured from the washer.

My Samsung top-loading washing machine, Model # WA40J3000AW/A2, intermittently makes an extremely loud high-pitched screeching sound during the spin cycle. I thought it was off-balance or that I put too much in the load. Since I’ve heard about the washers exploding, I’m afraid to use it at all. “Using it on the delicate cycle” does not seem like a safe alternative. I purchased it about 6 months ago from HH Gregg.

The product, in the report: Samsung 4.0 CU HE TOP LOAD WASHER
I have a Samsung Top Load washer that is a part of the affected machines. I checked my serial number yesterday and registered with the company. I also called them yesterday, but they had no options to give me. I read that you just need to use the delicate cycle for heavy bedding, etc. Also that nobody has reported any problems with anything other than heavy items. I wanted to report that I have been using only the low speed spin for everything (including my 2-year-old’s clothes) and it does not seem to matter. My washer spins out of control multiple times each load with very loud banging noises, showing error codes. When you push to restart, it starts the filling cycle all over again, which is maddening. So, I wanted to report that I do have issues with light items and the low spin cycle as well. I tried the delicate cycle last night for a small load and still it spun out of control and started beeping with the error code. I just turned it off so I could go to bed. This is making laundry very time-consuming and tedious. Now apparently, it’s dangerous as well since this machine is in my bedroom and could blow up. I have resorted to taking all my laundry to the laundromat to just get it done. That is not convenient for a full-time working mother of 3.

My new Samsung top load washer caught fire at the controls panel, the washer had not run for 2 days. I was not at home at the time of the fire. The receptacle was not burned nor the power cord from the receptacle up to the panel. Fire started at the control panel and burned the lid as well as the tub. The fire started burning the wooden wall behind the washer at the height of the panel on the washer and proceeded up the wall. The dryer on the right also burned as well as the wall to the left of the washer, washer was in the corner. My electrical panel box was on the left side of the washer and all wiring coming out of panel box was damaged. When the room heated up my ac came on and the smoke was sucked into the whole house, new house btw. I had been living there 6 weeks, I’m now displaced from the home due to $83,000 damage.

My washing machine was washing a load of laundry and the top (not just the lid, the entire top) blew off. It threw it across the laundry room damaging the wall. We paid the service fee, used other laundry facilities, repaired the wall and eventually bought a new washer.

The product, in the report: Samsung Washer, white, model wa45h7000aw, purchased July 2015
We were using our Samsung Washing Machine (Model wa45h7000aw) doing a load of bedding and all of the sudden it sounded like rocks were in the washing machine. We quickly ran downstairs (where the washer is located) and turned it off and unplugged it, to our surprise the drum in the washer was sitting sideways in the washer and the outside case was all banged up due to the drum hitting the sides repeatedly. In addition the washer turned in place 90 degrees from where it was located due to what was happening. Lucky no one was hurt, and we contacted Home Depot, as we bought a warranty when we bought the machine, and it is in the process of being fixed, although currently the parts needed are on back order. I didn’t think anything of this until I read and article in the Washington Post today about this issue. The washer was originally purchased in early July 2015. Please feel free free to contact me if you have any additional questions.

The product, in the report: White Samsung top loading washing machine. Model number WA45H7000AW
I was using a samsung top load washing machine (WA45H7000AW). I was washing bedding at the time and during the spin cycle I heard a loud explosion. I was not in the laundry room at the time. When I came up stairs the frame on the washing machine was all busted up and the washing machine itself had moved quite dramatically. It appeared that the drum had come loose. I contacted samsung and at the time they were unwilling to repair it at their cost because it was 2 months out of warranty.

The product, in the report: Samsung WF405ATPAWR/AA washing machine
My Samsung Washing Machine was on, when I checked the clothes, the power to the washer, dryer and anything else connected to that particular circuit was off. I reset the circuit breaker and restarted the washer. The washer wouldn’t start. The lights come on, but the washer will not continue to the next cycle. I received an email from Consumer Affairs of all the horror stories involved with the Samsung Washing Machine catching fire. Thank goodness my circuit breaker didn’t allow this to happen.
I am asking for a recall on the Samsung Washing Machines. I purchased my machine in March of 2014. I called Samsung who says there is no recall as of yet and the machine is not under warranty anymore. I’m disgusted and have dirty laundry.

The product, in the report: Samsung washer model WA48J770AAW/A2
Washer was running (single set of sheets only). Washer exploded, causing it to come away from the wall and the top of the entire device to become ripped off the hinges. The power cord was ripped out of place in the lid and no longer turns on. There is also a significant dent in the bottom portion of the device. It also dented my dryer and damaged the wall in my laundry room.

A Samsung top loading washing machine (WA52J8700AP) was in use when a fire ignited, completely burning the back of my family’s home and damaging the rest of the home.
