The product, in the report: Samsung Front Load Washer, White, 4.2 cu ft.
When I use the washer, the spin cycle is so incredibly loud that my neighbors that live below me can hear it through their ceiling. In addition, it shakes so violently that it moves around causing it to bump into my dryer. I purchased this product from www.sears.com, in the description box it clearly says VRT Quiet Technology. Samsung, obviously lied so they would be able to sell a product with a false description. Lying to sell a product to hard working americans, is just so despicable.

The product, in the report: White Samsung Washing Machine model WA52M7750AW/A4
I purchased a Samsung top load washing machine (model number WA52M7750AW/A4) one year ago. After 6 months I noticed small black specks all over a washed load of laundry. At first I thought that my kids were putting dirt in their pockets. Recently the specks covering a fresh load of laundry have been dime size and larger. My husband and I have been trying to figure out what it is. I decided to do an online search and found a large group of people all having the same problem and they said it is mold. They complained of reaching out to Samsung and getting no help. Several of them suggested taking off the agitator plate and removing the pulsator so that the mold could be cleaned off of all the internal parts. I called for a technician to help me remove the parts and I have attached images of what we found. I scrubbed all of the parts that I could reach with a scrubber, toothbrush and q-tips. Although it was impossible to remove all of the mold I did clean off a lot of it. When I was done I noticed that while I had removed most of the mold from the outside of the pulsator, I could see through the plastic backing of it and inside it was full of black mold (visible in the image of the back of the pulsator. Mold is on the outside and you can see it on the inside as well). Since the pulsator can’t be taken apart there is no way to clean it out. The obvious problem with this is the water from every wash passes through the pulsator, so all of my laundry is being drenched in moldy water and there is no way around it. My service tech told me I could only use a tablespoon of laundry soap, which is much less than the soap company recommends to effectively clean a load. I have always used soap to wash laundry and never had a problem like this with any other machine I have used. If I can only use a few drops of soap then not only are my clothes, towels and sheets not being properly cleaned, they are also submerged in harmful moldy water every time. The problem is obviously a design flaw that Samsung has not fixed, leaving their customers forced to wash dirty laundry with moldy water.
An even greater concern that I have is the health implications this could have on my family. Mold is dangerous. I have never had respiratory issues. Near the end of 2017, I had a cough that lasted a couple months after a cold. It went away for one month and came back for a couple more months. Could this possibly be due to mold exposure? My husband had a cold about 3 months ago and still has a cough hanging on today. I am concerned about this as well as problems it could cause for my children.

The product, in the report: Washing Machine
We purchased a Samsung top load washer back in 2016. On Sunday, 6/24, the washing machine exploded while doing a small load of laundry. Bedsheets and a quilt were being washed. Upon entering the garage, the washer was contorted, the base of it faced one way and the top was another way. Parts including trays and coils flew out of the machine. Water leaked everywhere and a hole was created in the wall.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load washing machine. 4.5 cu ft
I was washing a set of jersey knit full size sheets only. About 20 mins left of a normal cycle, the top exploded off the unit! Four years of heavy duty use and I can’t believe this $900 machine is going to explode over some sheets that were evenly distributed in the tub.. I have always washed sheets on this setting, sometimes two sets of sheets. I’ve had errors occur before if it was unbalanced, that was simple to correct. But today, the washer would not stop spinning so violently unless it was unplugged. Very disappointed.

The product, in the report: samsung washing machine model #422PRHDWR/AA pR
was washing a load of white clothes(underwear, t-shirt,etc ) nothing heavy the washing machine when I went to check on my clothes the machine was on dc code so I redistributed them and turned it back on the machine started vibrating excessively, so I stopped it and it did the same thing each time I stopped it and tried to fix the problem just to get a load of clothes done. It was so bad I unplugged it afraid to use it. I did have it on recall and they came and fixed it with that new tag, but can’t use it for anything. It cost a lot of money, and as a senior, I can not afford to buy another one. I want my washer fixed.

The product, in the report: White, top leading, digital, Samsung washer.
I was doing a load of laundry using the quick wash cycle and I heard the washer chiming so I went to check to see if the load was done. There was a code on the digital screen, “dc”. I checked the user manual and it said it was due to an uneven load. I checked the load and it did not appear to be uneven. I then turned the washer off and used the spin only cycle and it worked fine. Since then, there are times the washer will perform properly, but it is happening more and more that when in the spin cycle the washer drum is spinning out of control, hitting the sides of the washer until it stops with the code “dc”. It doesn’t seem to matter what size load that is in the wash and the load is not uneven. I spoke with Samsung and they will replace the top with more secure latches, but I dont believe that it corrects the issue as to why the tops of the machines were coming off so violently.

The product, in the report: Samsung front loading washer
Samsung front loading washer exploded. Sides and top of washer burst and pieces of drum and plastic shot across laundry room. Explosion of washer made a dent in neighboring Samsung front loading dryer. Because of the dent the dryer drum now rubs against the side of the dented housing. Washer is mangled beyond repair. Both washer and Dryer were purchased at the end of August 2017. I have reported incident to Samsung, I am waiting for Samsung to send someone to my home to take a look at my damaged washer and dryer. I feel that both washer and dryer are unsafe and I want a full refund.

Our Samsung washer was producing what looked like leaves in the bottom but with the texture of mud. Our bedding and sheets came out stained and smelly. Upon googling I found Samsung forum where I was told it was a faulty design and the water doesn’t properly drain creating mildew and black mold. We have determined this is the cause of 3 of the 4 people in this home to have allergy and sinus issues. My Father as well has been suffering from leg stiffness that is unexplained by doctors. We attribute all of this to the washer. We have been washing our clothes, linens and bedding in this for who knows how long. Samsung said they could offer a rebate towards a new washer as this is big problem. They offered $36. Disgusting! For my families health. I am linking the message board on their site where they have not done one thing to rectify this issue. 30 pages, 22000 views.

The product, in the report: Samsung Washing Machine Model WA48H7400A
I have a Samsung Washing Machine model number WA48H7400A that I bought in December of 2014. It is covering my clothes with mildew and scum during the wash cycle. The problem is particularly noticeable when I have not used the machine for a few days. I believe this is because the machine does not drain all the way and when you don’t use it the water creates mold and mildew scum that actually washes onto your clothes when you start the machine again. Cleaning the machine regularly does not help. Leaving the lid open does not help. All of the canned responses that Samsung provides to tell you this is your help is ridiculous. This is a design flaw which leaves water in between two barrels and does not drain completely. There are 28 pages of peoples comments regarding this issue on the Samsung website and they are doing nothing but tell us this is our fault!

The product, in the report: Top load washing machine. Aqua jet
I originally noticed some small brown spots on our clothes after they were washed. They seemed to come out dirtier than they went into the washing machine. I then did every self cleaning imaginable. I did this several times and still found the small black spots. I cleaned every nook and cranny I could find. Still spots... I then took off the cap on the agitator plate on the bottom of the machine and noticed a ton of black sludge! Picture attached. Then I did more research and found a community of people with the same issue! One of them instructed to take off the agitator plate and clean under it. When I took it off I was completely disgusted! This is the washing machine where I was my twins clothes, fabric toys, bedding, etc.! They are 7 months old and chew on everything! And my son wakes every night with a stuffed up nose.. Could this mold/mildew be the cause of his breathing problems? I’m completely sickened by this. I’ve always done any regular maintenance of the machine that is recommended. I never use too much detergent and I rarely if ever use fabric softener... I’m mad that I let this happen without knowing but really how could I have known it was like that? So disgusted by Samsung as it seems according to the community on their website that they do not back their products and blame the consumer for improper care. I just want them to take responsibility for this issue as it is not a consumer problem but a flaw in the design of their product.

The product, in the report: Samsung Washing Machine, White, top load
Our washing machine started shaking really hard, and when I went to check on things, water was flooded in my laundry room, overflowed into my hall and kitchen. I immediately put towels down to stop it from going further in my kitchen, and ran outside to get shop vac to get water up. There was an 8x10 rug in my laundry room that was flooded, I had to drag outside, a rug in my hall flooded, the coat closet flooded. Once I got all that stuff up, I was able to work on getting the water up. When my husband got home, he opened the back of the washer and found the hose at the bottom of the drum had come off, causing the washer full of water to cause this mess. We put fans on everything last night trying to dry out the baseboards and wall, but his morning, I noticed there is some swelling spots on them. I’m very concerned about water damage to them and the wall it went under, as well as the flooring under the vinyl flooring.

The product, in the report: Washing Machine
The consumer indicates that she noticed that her washing machine would shake more than usual during its spin cycle, and also collect water during this time. The consumer has to shut off the washer in order to remove the water in it. Over time, the vibrations became more violent and the water level kept rising as well. The consumer has to remove her clothing from the unit, and restart it in order to remove the water; this process is sometimes done more than once, and at this point the consumer is unsure if her clothes are even clean.
01/31/2018 - The consumer contacted the retailer and explained the situation. The representative she spoke to informed her that her unit may be recalled, and referred her to CPSC.
02/01/2018 – The consumer contacted CPSC and learned that her washer is recalled.
The consumer states that that unit is used twice weekly. The consumer plans on keeping her washing machine for the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

Therefore, Samsung has still not corrected the problem. We have sent pictures of our damaged items since June and finally called Samsung because we hadn’t received any communication since we started emailing them in June. They are working with us to compensate us for clothing/bedding damage. Our washer and dryer are still dangerous to use due to shaking violently and continue to ruin our clothes. In the beginning the washer was our only issue and now the dryer is also ruining our clothes.

My Samsung wash machine was recalled. The company did send a technician with a “fix”. Unfortunately, it appears that all they did was to slow down the spin speed. The bedding is very wet when the spin cycle is finished. Now, it takes a much longer time to dry and much more electricity - which is costing more money.

Caller is reporting that the washer she purchased in December 2017 is displaying similar problems as the recall 17-208 Hazard:The washing machine top can detach unexpectedly from the washing machine chassis during use, posing a risk of injury from impact. This has been ongoing for about 2-3 weeks. She stated that she received a burnt mark on her hand when she reached into the unit to balance the load of clothes. Caller stated that she cannot leave the clothes to wash because of the vigorous shaking of the washer.
1/6/17 Caller contracted the manufacturer and they advised her that there had been some recalls but her model and serial was not included.
Caller feels that this unit is a safety hazard and should be recalled.
Caller has since returned the Samsung to Lowes and gotten a [REDACTED] washing machine.

I had a Samsung top load washer that was recalled last year. With the rebate, I purchased a new Samsung washer that was not on the recall list.
This washer is doing the exact same thing that the old one did: banging around very loudly, throwing UL codes over and over, and shaking so hard that it’s moving the washer (and, subsequently, my dryer that sits next to it) whenever I do not change the spin cycle from High to Medium.

I’ve had the washer for three years. A few months ago I started noticing little brown bits of gunk on my clothes and the clothes not as clean as they used to get. So I ran some vinegar through it’s cleaning cycle a few times and the problem stopped. Fast forward another month and we went away for a week and my first load of laundry was covered in brown gunk and flakes. We then ran at least 10 pure cycles (cleaning cycle) with vinegar and bleach and stuff was coming out of the machine each time. So we removed the bottom rotating piece and it was covered in a slimy mold like substance. We scrubbed it down, replaced, then ran another clean cycle and still more gunk! I started researching it and it seems to be a common problem with this machine. I’ve contacted Samsung and they tell me I’ll have to service it. It’s possible the whole inner tub needs replaced and it’s a $200 piece when the washer is a $600 machine. I have three small children and I can’t be washing their clothes in mold! Especially in a machine that is impossible to get rid of that mold. Upon further inspection it also appears that there is a gap between the metal piece and the plastic piece in the pulsator-lower and you can see it is housing mold yet it is impossible to separate the two pieces to clean it. Samsung top-loading washer “exploded” during spin cycle. This particular model was part of the recall in 2016. We opted to have a repair kit installed when notified of the issue. A repair kit was successfully installed approximately one year ago. However, On December 31st, 2017, our washer “exploded” and the top portion become dislodged. The force caused our counter tile to break and our dryer was damaged as well. Luckily, no one was present in the laundry room at the time of the incident. The washer is completely inoperable.

The product, in the report: samsung front loader washer in black
on Dec 16, 2017 at approximately 5:45 pm, our front loading samsung washer exploded. We had put a load of clothes in for washing. My husband was at the kitchen sink and I was in the living room and heard a loud explosion from our laundry area. My husband asked we what was that and i said i don’t know and immediately jumped off the couch to investigate and found my washer had exploded beyond repair. We immediately unplugged the machine as water was spilling out onto the floor. Our clothes were all mangled in the damaged drums on he inside. We found clothes in the bottom of the washer by the motor. The explosion damaged the wall in my house, broke a steam mop right in half, damaged the dryer and dented our hot water tank. My husband is 100% deaf and he heard the explosion. That is how loud it was. This is definitely a safety issue and my husband and i both are in shock, in disbelief and mentally distraught. We could have been seriously hurt if not killed by this explosion. We originally planned to go out for the evening and had we done that, this most definitely could have caught fire as the machine was still plugged in.

We have a Samsung top loader washing machine that has the overlay and reinforcement kit recall. We have been trying to get Samsung to get this recall done for a year and a half. We finally got the reinforcement kit installed but the repairing technician said we should have got the overlay kit first, but he did the reinforcement kit anyway. We have been trying to get this overlay kit from their web page, and their 866 number, along with their Facebook page. We have made over 2 dozen contacts. On some settings this machine bounces off the walls. I understand the overlay kit eliminates some of these settings. We feel we have made our best effort to get this resolved.

The product, in the report: Samsung top load washer model # WA456DRHDWR/AA
This washer is a Samsung top loader and already had a recall that was serviced for the excessive shaking and possible lid flying off and injuring people. They put a sticker on it so that we would wash blankets on delicate which is silly to begin with if you want your blanket clean. Anyway they also put a safety latch to stop the lid from flying off. This was Feb. 2017. We have had the washer since Sept 2013. Last weekend the washing machine set itself on fire. Luckily there was no major damage because our son was home and the fire department was called. The washing machine caught fire in what seems to be the electronics area and it damaged the dryer which was next to it. In addition to minor smoke, heat, and water damage. I have the fire station report and photos to confirm. I called Samsung and they said they will try to give us an ‘accommodation’ but I have to provide original bills of sale which I know longer have — even though their records would show they serviced this washer earlier this year. They also wanted to pick up the units but since we left them outside due to the smell, now we can no longer provide because scrappers picked them up.

Caller stated that her spouse loaded the washer and sometime later she heard an explosion and noticed that there were shattered glasses under the closed door of the laundry room because the unit had moved out of placed and pinned the door , she was able to open the door slightly and realized that washer had exploded. Dispersing glass pieces all over the floor, damaging the tiles on the floor, wall, dryer, ac units etc. Caller stated that everything that was within reach of the unit was damaged.
The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him that someone would be sent out, however after waiting for hours and no one showed up he called back and he was informed that no one was there that could be sent out. They advised him to take pictures of the incident and to send it in to them for reimbursement of the purchase price of the washer but not the expense of the property damages.
Caller feels that this washer is unsafe and could have caused serious injuries if someone was present with the laundry door opened.

The product, in the report: Samsung top loading washing machine
Our Samsung washing machine was the subject of a recall due to excessive vibrations leading to the top of the machine coming off. (model #WA400PJHDWR/AA, serial #Y69Q5AECC04701B) Note the retro repair was completed (additional structural modification to secure top of machine from coming off) and warranty (parts/labor) was extended for a year pursuant to recall agreement. Samsung has FAILED to abide by terms of recall, in that they have refused to send repairman to fix machine, which remains broken/nonfunctional. Note that over a dozen phone calls have been made to Samsung, and multiple emails sent, all requesting that they abide by the terms of recall agreement, and fix broken machine pursuant to one year warranty extension arising from recall agreement. Is there a class action lawsuit arising from Samsung’s failure to abide by the terms of the recall agreement? Thanking you in advance for your assistance, [REDACTED]

Our washing machine was on a lower spin cycle with bedding in it; it was spinning and had 35 minutes left to go. Thankfully my 3-year-old son was playing in the basement and yelled up to me, “fire!”. I came running down and the entire basement smelled of burning plastic; I stopped the machine and cleared my son from the area in case it exploded. After a few minutes I opened the lid and a pillow was burning and the entire top part of the washer had exploded. The plastic was shredded and blown out and flying everywhere.

The product, in the report: Samsung Front loading washing machine WF42H5200AW/A2
My Samsung Front Loader Washer WF42H5200AW was on the self clean cycle and the glass door exploded sending large shards of glass into my children’s room which is located directly across from the washer and dryer. I heard the glass shatter and ran over to the machine and stopped the cycle. Luckily neither of my children (4 year old & infant) were not near it at the time. There was glass all on the floor and inside the machine along with standing water. This occurred on Saturday 8/5/2017 and no resolution has been completed. I called Samsung to report the incident on 8/5 in the morning and they said someone will be calling me shortly. It was mid afternoon and I still had not heard back, so I posted the photos of the large shards of glass that were shot into my children’s room onto their Facebook page stating I have not heard back yet. Soon after I spoke with a female associate who apologized for the inconvenience and noted safety is their top priority. I explained I was shaken up by this event as I have two young children in the house and I do not feel safe having this in my home. She opened up a ticket and sent over my photos of the damage and receipt from purchase. She informed me I will be receiving a call from a repair company. In 2-3 business days. I had missed the repair call and called them back. I explained that I do not see how this is repairable as I have standing water and glass sitting in the machine and I do not feel safe having this in my home. The woman on the line said yeah I don’t see how they would be able to repair it and suggested I contact Samsung again. I contacted them again addressed the safety issue of having this broken machine in my house and requested the machine to be taken out of my house. I requested for them to take both washer and dryer out and compensate me so that I can purchase a different brand. She said my issue has been sent over to their product team and should contact me within 24 hours, maybe 1-2 business days. I am extremely upset and shaken up by this whole event because my children could have been severely injured by this glass and they do not seemed concerned based on their lack of getting back to me. Now I might have mold in the washer due to the standing water. Which is now a health issue. Between the glass and standing water I find there to be a health and safety issue at this point.

The product, in the report: Washing Machine
The consumer indicates that her washing machine started shaking violently approximately one year after it was purchased.
The consumer later learned of the recall of her unit and contacted the Manufacturer in order to schedule a service repair.
02/24/2017 - The Service Technician performed the remedy however while there, the consumer contacted Samsung and they approved, under the extended one-year warranty, for the Service Technician to replace the washing machine’s lid, soap dispenser, and bleach drawer as they were all rusting. The Service Technician informed the consumer that he would not install two of the bolts since another Service Technician would be doing the replacement; eventually this second service repair was a no-show.
The consumer has been in communication with the Manufacturer ever since regarding the replacement of the unit’s rusting parts however she keeps getting the run-around being told that they do not have all parts.
The consumer states that the washing machine still shakes violently, and the repair did not address the safety hazard it was recalled for.

(12/21/2016) The consumer stated that the installer plugged in the machine. Immediately, a gooey white substance appears on the top left side of the window in the door of the unit. The installer turned on the rinse and drain cycle and left. After the cycle finished, the consumer did a load of wash. The consumer noticed an electrical/chemical odor. The consumer dried the items and put them away.
The next morning, the consumer coughed up blood. Blood also came out of nose. The consumer did another load of clothes. The odor became more prominent.
The consumer used a washcloth from the load that she had washed previously. When she put the washcloth in the tub, she noticed that the water had discolored. The consumer thought it was her because the discoloration was near her feet.
The consumer washed her face with the cloth. The next morning, she coughed up blood again. Also blood came out of her nose and her eyes were sealed shut with grit.
The consumer cleaned the inside of the machine with a rag and saw a black oily substance in between the rubber gasket where the door closes.
The consumer called Samsung to advised them of the incident. She was advised to unplug the unit. The consumer was advised that they would send a repairman but none was in the area. The firm offered to replace the unit. The firm credited the store. The consumer picked out a different brand.
(02/02/2017) The consumer went to her doctor for medical attention.
(03/22/2017) The consumer was flown off of the island to the hospital for kidney failure.

I called in and had the recall taken care of from Samsung. They had me put stickers on machine about the danger and sent a repair person to come and put some parts in. We all ran to see what it was and the whole top of washer was apart and the wash machine was almost completely side ways. The sides and the front of wash machine has dents around it.

The product, in the report: Samsung washing machine, Top Load,120 V, white, dimensions: 27” Front, 30”D, 44”H
This report is about the Samsung washing machine WA422PRHDWR/AA. I own a summer home in [REDACTED], I usually rent it for a few weeks out of the year mostly on the summer season, meanwhile I stay at the little cottage at the back of the property.
Only a couple of months after we bought the appliance, it exploded awhile the cleaning lady was doing the laundry, at that time I didn’t think was an accident because she quitted at the same day, afraid I’d accuse her for breaking the machine, since she knew it was brand new.
This past Saturday, July 29, 2017 my guest (she is a public figure and for that reason she doesn’t want to be identified), was laundering the 2 months baby clothes (on quick washing settings), prior their checkout; “AT the spinning mode” as she describes; the machine started making a loud noise and the entire first floor was shaking like there was an earthquake going on, she ran to check what was going on as she stood up in front of the machine to turn it off it sounded like an explosion and the machine jumped and turned sideways towards her as someone just flipped the machine against her. She has breast feeding and now is so fering with her right side breast got infected on the past few days. She just shared the Samsung washing machine incident with me today as I inquired about the damaged appliance and mentioned deducting the repair amount from her security deposit, other than that she’d never have told me, and the poor women still don’t get that fact is not her to blame; Since I didn’t know about the incident or about the recall I had the local appliance store technician to put the top together again; the machine is throwing all kind of codes, it’s dented, it restarts over and over again at the spinning circle, the drum is totally detached and unbalanced , it’s wasting my expensive water and sewer, and mostly is ruining my rental business, I have seasonal contracts for the rest of summer,I need my machine fixed ASAP, so I called my local appliance guy again, after charging $50 a visit he told me there are several recalls for several models of Samsung washers with the very same problem and he’s not certified for Samsung recalls and “GOOD LUCKY TO HAVE IT FIXED BY SAMSUNG”!

The product, in the report: SAMSUNG Washer Model WA456DHRDWR/AA white top load heavy duty large capacity washer.
Samsung Washer Model #WA456DRHDWR is only 4 yrs old, washing 2 simple couch throw blankets and 3 towels that were covered in plaster dust from a construction project at the house. This was my third load in the day - all of a sudden heard loud bang and strange beeps that I had never heard before. Next in racing to the laundry area, I step in water and water now covered entire room! Today Sears A&E Service comes stating the pump blew - so a new one needed, they asked about heavy load - I stated I used the right load wash because I WENT THROUGH WITH THE RECALL THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT THIS EXACT THING from happening! IT DID NOT HELP! The items needing washed were divided into groups as mentioned this was already my third load, and I wasn’t done yet. I asked about why isn’t this a covered service when I know this seems to be part of the dangerous symptom these machines were being recalled on. I am told it is my fault? How? I’m washing clothes? This makes no sense! The service provider then tells me “oh as it turns out the pump now works but when the original pump busted (I assume he is referring to the famous rod that is supposed to hold the pump in place?) that it killed the board and we now needed a new board put in for a grand total of $636. How is it that this company keeps getting away with producing faulty products - I got lucky as nothing exploded through the machine and did not cause injury but it could have! And, how does the company live with its self that a 4 year old machine can be named “scrap” after such little time frame?

Our washing machine had basically “walked away” from its place in the laundry room, so violently that it struck a window sill and damaged the window sill, the front of the machine and leaked brownish water on floor.
PLEASE NOTE...If the windowsill did not stop this unit, it would have ripped out the water lines and drain hoses to the machine and caused several thousands of dollars damage. This is an extremely dangerous product and should have a “failsafe device” to prevent any movement.

The product, in the report: Top Load Samsung Washing Machine
I have one of the recalled Samsung Top load washing machines. I was not having issues with the machine but for safety requested the repair to the top. I called the recall number and was set up for a repair appointment. The Tech from “Dish” came in did a lot of banging and left without having me sign anything, no receipt, no directions about the stickers. Now the machine is cracked on the top and does not wash my clothes at all. Very frustrated. Now Samsung says I need to send my receipt which I cannot locate to get a refund. Please help!

The submitter was notified by the firm that his washer was included in recall # 17-028. The submitter was offered a $170 rebate for another washer or a free repair. The submitter said he paid $600 for the washer and did not want to spend more money so he opted for the free repair. The submitter said the firm sent out a technician with Sears to repair the washer sometime in January 2017.
After the repair was done, the submitter noticed that the washer would shake excessively during a wash cycle and it became worse over time.
The submitter finally called the retailer, Sears on June 1st and advised them of his safety concerns. The submitter said a technician came out and examined the washer and advised him that everything had to be replaced. The submitter said the technician replaced the parts and now the washer does not work at all. The submitter is waiting to hear back from the retailer, Sears about getting a replacement. The submitter said he does not feel safe repairing the washer and would like to receive a replacement.
The submitter said he has not contacted the firm because they only offered him $170 rebate and he doesn’t believes they will offer him more assistance.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Loading Clothes Washer Model # WA400PJHDWR/AA
I purchased a Samsung clothes washer several years ago that has since been recalled. Last year we had someone come out and repair one of the parts that was on recall, after the part fractured and large amounts of water leaked out on our laundry room and kitchen floor. The washer has also been shaking excessively for over a year. Last week we filed a service request through Samsung, and someone came out to install stabilizer bars in the washer to fix the excessive shaking. That same day, after the repair was completed, the washer overflowed while performing a cycle, and part of the washer broke during the spin cycle. At the same time, the washer started to fill with water and flooded my entire laundry room and kitchen, and ruined the drywall and flooring in the laundry room and part of the kitchen. This is my second time having the washer repaired--the first time being last year after a similar situation occurred--though not as severe as last week’s account (as mentioned above). I now have a laundry room and kitchen that isn’t usable and we have to have the floor and drywall replaced. We recently had two contractors come and give estimates for the repairs, totaling over $15,000.
Please note that as of last weekend my family and I had to vacate our home for an emergency flood restoration company to come in and extract excess water from the floor and wall surfaces in hopes of saving some of the insulation and foundation. This was also a necessary step before contractors would begin any repairs. We we will be living with friends, family, neighbors, and in hotels for the next 3-4 weeks until the work is complete.

The product, in the report: White Samsung Front Loading Washer on a drawer pedestal.
I put a normal load of whites in my Samsung Front Loading washer Sunday afternoon, June 4th. It ran. I came upstairs to check it as it was unusually loud. When I saw it it seemed to have an unbalanced load and was jumping around, which was unusual. The timer indicated 4 minutes left until complete. I walked away and came back immediately and the machine indicated off. I opened the door to pull the load out and put it in the dryer and smoke began pouring out of the machine drum and the back of the machine. I frantically pulled the clothes out of the washer. Smoke continued to pour out faster and filling up our utility room. My husband helped me pull the machine away from the wall and we immediately unplugged it. The smoke continued for a good 30 minutes or more after we unplugged it and did cause our smoke alarm to go off.

The product, in the report: Samsung WF32AAW/XAA Washer
My Samsung WF32AAW/XAA Washer was six minutes from finishing a medium load of laundry and all of a sudden it sounded like a WWII bomber was in my house. I ran into the laundry room and smoke was pouring out the back of the washer, I immediately turned the washer off, and then I opened the door and ore smoke poured out. As I grabbed my clothes out I burned my hand and have a huge burn.
I called Samsung to tell them how dangerous their product was and if the grey rubber smelling smoke meant the washer was done or if it could be repaired. They would just say that Samsung has no recalls for the product and wasn’t aware of this issue even though typing the model number and “smoke” into Google had a ton of results with people having the same problem I had.
Does Samsung make anything that doesn’t explode? Why would anyone buy a Samsung appliance this damn thing could have burned my house down! The only thing to decide is if I’m going to replace just my washer or completely rid my house of Samsung.

This about the Samsung washing machine recall. I had the first step done, protecting the top of the washer from flying off and hurting me. But it continues to shake violently and does a poor job on heavier items that need to b e washed. Towels and sheets. I called them and it seems because I had the cover secured they will not continue to support their product and I can not get a replacement. So they did not fix it completely. Not Fair

The product, in the report: Samsung white 4.5 cu. ft. high-efficiency washer model WA45H7000AW/A2
My Samsung washing machine is part of the Samsung safety recall. I purchased the washer at Home Depot in [REDACTED]on July 6, 2014 and had it delivered to my summer home in [REDACTED] on July 28, 2014. At the time of the recall announcement last November, there wasn’t much I could do about it except to register with Samsung, because I was already in [REDACTED], my state of residency. When I spoke to someone at Samsung, I asked how long I had to request a rebate. I was told they would kindly extend my deadline to June 1, 2017. Later, I read on the paperwork they sent me that I really have until next November, one year after the recall announcement! I arrived back in [REDACTED] on May 2, 2017. I am afraid of my Samsung washing machine due to reports that they may explode at any time. It makes terrible noises and really has never gotten my wash clean even though it takes over an hour. I purchased it because it was advertised that it could wash a king size comforter. Samsung now says you can only wash bedding on what was the delicate cycle. That will not get it clean or wring out the water. I purchased a matching Samsung washer and dryer set. I do not want another Samsung product. I need to purchase a new washer ASAP. Another brand will not match my dryer. I am not happy with the performance of the dryer either. It does not sense when the load is dry as was advertised. I feel Samsung should refund me for the total purchase of the set. They knew about the issue the washers were having even before my purchase.

Couple of weeks ago my front loading Samsung washer (WF218ANW/XAA) all of a sudden started shaking with loud banging noise. 3 days ago my wife noticed smoke along with strong burning odor coming out from it when she opened the washer door. We are reluctant to use it fearing that it may cause sparking and may explode. With small kids around the house we don’t feel safe using it. I hope Samsung will take care of the issue plaguing this particualr model. There are numerous incidents like ours for this washer. I am surprised Samsung hasn’t issued a recall yet.

I’ve called several times asking where’s the refund just to be told they’re still working on it.

We purchased a Samsung WA48J7700AW Top Load Washing Machine on January 2, 2017. This machine model had been recalled in November 2016, however our serial number is NOT part of the recall.
On Saturday, March 18, 2017 our machine walked out of our laundry room closet and the result is the right side of the machine and front of the machine are buckling out. We have the lock sticking out of the front of the machine. The clip in the front disconnected and the S clips that were part of the INSTALLED “fix” are bent and they bent the frame of the machine. Sears Tech was out on Wednesday and took pictures and said that the machine is no longer usable.

This samsung topload washer was recalled and correction of the problem was done in nov 2016. A third party technician was sent who when we noticed was having difficulty installing the clip on the washer, we asked how many has he do e answered that our washer is the first and that the training they had was watching a video on how to install it and nothing more. The washer was okay, following their recommendation on what cycle to use for bedding until last friday march 17 i had to call samsung’s hotline because i noticed it was making an awful lot of noise while being used as well as noise like coins are jiggling inside n some water on my drip pan. I stopped the washer and troubleshooting was done with the representative till finally an appointment for tuesday was set. An hour passed and when i checked again, my laundry room was flooded enough for water to seep through my basement ceiling tiles and into my basement laminate flooring. I called them again to update and am still waiting for further action today monday march 20, 2017.

The product, in the report: Recalled Samsung Top-load Washer
I purchased a Samsung Top-load washer in Nov. 2015, which is in the recall list. I chose repair option once I received the recall email in Nov. 2016 and scheduled a repair appointment in Dec.2016. However the technician did not show up until Feb. 2017, 3 month later. The technician was from Dish, not Samsung, and he just reinforced the lid and did not do any testing after the fix. After the repair completed, I found out the washer started to have wired noise, vibrated and stopped during the spin cycle with error message, which never happened before. I am afraid to use the washer anymore as I am not sure whether the machine will explode in the next load. All the problem came after the so called “repair”. I have contacted Samsung numerous times that I felt not safe after the repair. In order to prevent any serious injured that may happen in my house, I wish to change my option from “Repair” to “Rebate”. The Customer Relation agent told me that if I want to change my option, they need to send anther technician to have a check first. So I accepted that offer as been told this was the only way Samsung will allow me to change my option. The 2nd technician came to my place, tested the washer and told me that he needed to order some parts to fix the machine. I said please don’t place the order, my option will be changed to “Rebate”, therefore no need to order any parts to fix it. But when I called the Customer Relation again, another agent refused my request and kept saying that you cannot change your option because the repair has been completed. The only thing that they can do was to send the technician to “repair” the problem created by the first technician. Not only I felt was played but also very frustrated. Not mentioned all those not-helpful conversation with Samsung Customer Relation agents, my only request now is to change my option from “Repair” to “Rebate”.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load Washer - white
I was doing a load of laundry (king size sheets) on the bedding setting of my Samsung top load washer and the machine exploded. It was like a bomb went off in my house. The impact of the explosion blew a hole in the wall, blew a hole in the side of my dryer, blew off a bi fold door of the closet where the washer and dryer is housed, damaged the metal shelf above the washer, damaged bathroom door next to the washer, damaged electrical outlet, and water damage in my home. The washer and dryer have not been moved yet so there may be additional damage that can not be seen at this time. Samsung was contacted immediately after this incident. Their customer service has been horrible and there has been no resolution as of today.

This caller is reporting serious problems with the manufacturer; he has requested a report using his verbiage and urgent assistance with this remedy; I really want to thank you for your assistance. I made several calls to the manufacturer about this and only got one call back. Since I missed the call, I got a voicemail saying I had to call 1-800-SAMSUNG. When I did, the woman who answered told me I should not have missed such an important call and now I have to go back to the beginning of the line. That was a week ago. Subsequent calls have gone unanswered. The company had sent a subcontractor out to fix it my recalled washer, who damaged it more. Samsung says they are doing this recall in cooperation with your agency, but my experience is that they are conducting this recall in a haphazard, sloppy, and unprofessional manner. The company has been extremely difficult to deal with, their people are very hostile over the phone, and now I have an appliance with new damage because of the recall. Someone should investigate the way they are conducting this recall because they are not doing it effectively. The technician put two large dents in the front of my washer. I have pictures.

I was notified that my Samsung top loading washing machine had been recalled. A repair person was sent out. My washing machine does not spin out on the bedding cycle. I reported this to Samsung. Another repair person was sent out who looked at the back of the machine wrote down numbers, stated I was not loading the machine properly. (I have done laundry for many years) The machine only spins bedding out on low. I contacted Samsung again. They stated my machine was subject to replacement or refund and the Executive Customer Service representative would contact me. They have not despite many calls. I was now requested to upload an original receipt for the washer. Unfortunately I no longer have this. My machine is still under warentee and not functioning.

The product, in the report: Samsung washing machine Model WA40J3000AW/A2 Serial #OldC5Aug 907103K
Samsung had a recall for their washing machine Model WA40J3000AW/A2 Serial #OldC5Aug 907103K I was notified in Jan or Feb 2017. My washer is not even 1 year old. They stated the units were unstable and unsafe from - Excessive vibrations, excess knocking and danger of washer lids detaching/flying off, hose fixtures detaching from the walls and causing serious injury. They were required to reinforce and/or replace the washers to consumers. I called them as they requested to report the excessive vibrations, knocking, shaking and physical jumping/walking of my washer from its position. They offered to reinforce it and I was left with the impression that it would remedy the situation so I tried that first. I was not told that I could not have it replaced if that did not resolve the danger. However, it did not resolve my issues *(even for minimal laundry items) and the machine continued knocking, shaking and physical jumping/walking of my washer from its position. I smashed my fingers trying to keep the hoses from ripping out of the wall! The reinforcing did not secure or improve my unit as recommended and I and my family are at risk & fearful of imminent injury. I called them a 2nd time to report this but they refused to help me stating I had already had service and that there was nothing more they could do and that I am not entitled to replacement. Please advise. [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Samsung WA48J7700AW/AA top loading washing machine
Our Samsung washing machine exploded today. The ironic thing is, we used to have a model that was on the recall list and we opted to purchase a new model and accept a rebate check from Samsung. The new model we bought was not on the recall list. It exploded today. Model number is WA48J7700AW/AA and was purchased from Best Buy in December 2016. The front and rear sides were dented outward, the top portion was blown off, several parts on the floor, detergent dispenser sitting in the tub, and water on the floor. The washing machine jumped forward probably 3 feet when it exploded. Nobody was home at the time. I came home and saw the mess immediately. We were washing one mattress pad on the bedding setting, spin on medium. We believe it happened between 30 and 15 minutes left in the cycle because my wife left home with 35 minutes left and I came home and saw there were 10 minutes left on the cycle.

I bought a Samsung Top Load Washer from Lowes In Lewes Delaware 06/21/15. I bought this product as I have owned other appliances, Phones, Electronic Devices etc.manufactured by Samsung. I thought that since i have had success with their other products the top load washing machine would also be a decent product. Since the purchase of this machine it was brought to my attention that their was a recall and the product that I bought will not perform certain features that it was sold to do such as bedding. I have called both Lowes and Samsung on several occasions asking why the machine goes through the spin cycle over and over again. I was told that the clothing in the machine had to be put in a certain way. This was completed but the same problem still exist. I have called several times explaining the problem and am told the same thing that the distribution of clothes has to be done differently. I have owned and operated machines and never had a problem until now. We are afraid to use the machine at this point due to the lids coming off and causing damage to the house and people. I was sent a sticker to put on the machine which changes the reason this machine was bought. This is not acceptable and Samsung needs to make this right. I have talked with the presidents office and was told that they would either give me a rebate or an extra year of warranty service. I do not trust this machine, I didn’t spend almost 500.00 dollars to live in fear when do laundry. There are over 700 complaints with this machine and even when they have been repaired there are still problems.

I have a Samsung washer that was under the recall. We opted for the “repair” and as far as we can tell, that consisted of a few screws and a new label for the control knob advising us to use the “delicate” cycle for bedding. This cycle doesn’t even spin the moisture out of the clothing and not getting clothes clean. However, the more serious issue is that the wash tub goes out of balance no matter how light the load or how many times we redistribute (which also starts the spin cycle over). it is taking hours to get one load of laundry, and the noise of the tub banging around in the case of the washer is deafening. We are concerned that eventually this is going to blow the thing apart anyway. This issue started for me at about 1 year of ownership. No repair service has a fix for this issue.
Not sure how the Samsung company is being allowed to avoid replacement (in full) for these many millions of machines which consumers have paid anywhere from $600 to $1200 for, only to have them become un-usable in a very short period of time. This is practically a fraud situation at this point.
Can’t the CPSC (or other agency) take this on and make these consumers whole?
Thanks for your consideration.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Loading Washing Machine Model: WA45H7000AW
Purchased a WA45H7000AW Samsung Toploader machine 16 months ago and the drum stopped adequately spinning a few weeks ago and then started violently banging the housing. Upon finding it was recalled and could have hurt or killed me, I found it was recalled and had two choices: To have a shoddy arm added to the lid to keep it from blowing off and killing me (already broken so that wouldnt help) or buy a brand new one with my own money and wait for a small, partial refund. I did what Samsung said and bought a new one because the reviews for repairs were atrocious. The day it came (Saturday 1/7/17 10 days after first contacting them), before I could add the new serial number to the rebate and mail it off, it BROKE AFTER THE FIRST WASH-- been waiting almost a week with no reply from Samsung. Additionally the dryer started having issues a week after the one year warranty expired and I’m TERRIFIED to have any of their products in my house now. I am now down $2200 on a washer and dryer set (Including TWO WASHERS I HAVE PAID FULL PRICE FOR WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO SEND MY TINY REBATE OFF AND THE SECOND ONE IS STILL BROKEN). I am so broke and frustrated and feel completely wronged. I need help getting the proper refund for the entire set and getting it out of my home so I know I can be safe. Please help us. Thousands of consumers are struggling with the same problem. Please look on [REDACTED]-- there are millions of recalled units that are being shoddily repaired and replaced with equally as dangerous of units.

On Friday, February 3, 2017 around 10:30 at night, I was washing a full size comforter in my Samsung front loader washing machine. There was a loud explosion and my husband and I found the machine smoking, smelling like an electrical fire and still trying to run. My husband fortunately was able to unplug the unit. After a few moments the fire inside burned itself out and the smoke died down. We were able to get the unit safely out to our garage. I contacted Samsung and was informed that my machine is not listed on any recall list and if I wanted it serviced it would be at my expense since I am out of warranty. I complained enough that they finally agreed to send someone out to diagnose the problem and they would cover the charge, but for any repairs it would be at my personal expense.

The product, in the report: samsung top loading washing machine.
I received a home label kit for my samsung washing machine recall and promptly put the labels on the washing machine. I put clothing in the washing machine on a ‘normal’ cycle with medium spin. the last 10 minutes of the cycle the washing machine shook very intensely and the lid came unlocked. Luckily the lid did not fly off as others have reported, but this is not the first time this has done this. My washing machine has been doing this randomly for years, before a recall was even announced!!! I promptly went to the samsung website to get a rebate on a new, NON SAMSUNG washing machine and they want to only give me $27, which is outrageous to me since i have been dealing with this for YEARS!!!!! I always have placed another heavy laundry basket full of laundry on top of the lid to prevent the lid from coming off. Now, after the recall has been announced i would like to purchase a new washing machine for safety and preventative measures and i feel it is completely unfair they dont want to give consumers a more appropriate figure to purchase a new machine with. The cheapest washing machines are around $600 without tax, delivery etc. what does $27 do for me? nothing! And the free tech to come “fix” the washing machine does not 100% fix the issue at hand. I wash approx. 12-15 loads of laundry PER WEEK! I have a samsung top loading washing machine model number: WA5471ABPXAA serial number: Y0IK54BB502389Z
For the safety of myself, my family and to prevent an damage or injuries samsung should issue a more significant rebate amount.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load Washing Machine, model # WA48J7700AW/02
I purchased a Samsung Top Load Washing Machine in September, 2016. I found out about a recall notice in October, 2016 and was informed via Samsung’s website that they were in discussions with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to address the issue. The email stated that I need to use the delicate cycle for bedding and mattress covers......UNACCEPTABLE. I received another email on November 5, that I would receive a home label kit within 14 days. I didn’t receive this information under January 7, 2017....UNACCEPTABLE. Within this information, I received a new control panel to be applied to my washing machine. The cycle for bedding was changed to the waterproof cycle which has a low spin cycle. I washed my bedding sheets and one blanket on this cycle and they came out dripping wet. It took over an hour to dry them....UNACCEPTABLE. Prior to receiving the home label kit, I began calling Samsung on December 1, 2016 and was told that I was eligible for a rebate amount but had to purchase another washing machine and then apply for a rebate. I was also informed that I would receive a better rebate by purchasing another Samsung. The rebate amount would be significantly less if I chose another brand....UNACCEPTABLE. My case was escalated to the Executive Customer Relations Dept. I was to receive a call within 24 to 48 hours. No call....UNACCEPTABLE. I called again on December 6, January 4 and 16. Again no call from Executive Customer Relations Dept. within 24-48 hours. I finally received a call on January 19 and was informed that a rebate exchange or repair was my only options. Out of safety concern, I told the woman that I would have someone come and repair my washing machine but that I wanted to continue pursuing the matter, because as the consumer, I should be receiving a full refund. She told me that if I chose the repair, I would no longer be eligible for another option later on.....UNACCEPTABLE.

The product, in the report: Top load washing machine
Within the first 6 months of purchasing the washer, the washer’s tub began to bang against the inside of the machine and break plastic off near the top of the machine. The washer would also move out of place during use. The machine was serviced under the retailer’s protection agreement. A technician from Cook’s Appliances, Nixa, MO, Tel: [REDACTED], serviced the machine and they had to replace the tub.
Nov-Dec 2014, two manufacturer’s technicians came out to service the machine, because the same problem began to happen. The tub banged against the walls inside of the machine and it moved out of place during use. The mfr’s tech. told the consumer that this was a wiring issue and they worked on it, but did not tell her exactly what they did to correct the problem. They also tried to tell the consumer that the machine contained the original tub, but the she contacted Cook’s Appliances, who confirmed that they had replaced the tub.
The consumer continued to have the exact same problem with the tub banging the wall and the washer moving out of place. The consumer said this happened regardless of what she washed in the machine (small loads of clothes or bulkier items) and it got progressively worse over time.
Nov or Dec-2016: The consumer heard about the recall and contacted the mfr. She took the repair option.
12/9/2016: A mfr’s came out and placed the recall reinforcement bars on the top of the machine. The tech. also noted that the consumer’s tub has developed rust and that the tub is ascending from the machine. The consumer noted that this repair actually made the machine worse.
The consumer contacted the manufacturer several times, but has not gotten any resolution.
Approximately, 1/20/2017, the machine stopped working all together.
The consumer has contacted the mfr. multiple times about this washer and she has dates, times and the names of who she spoke with. She has gotten the run around and now has a machine that does not work at all.
There was no damage to the home so far.

The information below was transferred from an
The consumer contacted the mfr. about recall No. 17-028 for her family’s washing machine. They sent a repairman on January 17, 2017. However, he damaged the exterior of the machine. Although I had not experienced any problems prior to his visit, it appears that he damaged the machine, itself, too.
Now, the washing machine tub swings hard into the sides of the machine, making it appear unstable. Also, the washer shuts itself off in the middle of the spin cycle much of the time.
The consumer contacted the mfr. about these issues and was referred to ([REDACTED]) so that a repair can be performed on the machine. The consumer was also told that the warranty has been extended on the machine due to the recall. However, the consumer has placed 6 calls to this number and has never been able to speak with anyone. She appreciates the recall, for safety’s sake. However, she really wants you to know how they are handling the work for people who call for work under the recall notice. They actually damaged the outside and broke the inside of this washer!
Furthermore, she had some problems with load imbalance - the washer would shut off and give a “dc” code and she would need to restart the rinse and spin cycle a few times. The consumer believes that she had someone come out from Sears for an adjustment, or the problem just stopped. She doesn’t recall the exact details of how the problem stopped, but it did and it happened prior to the recall. Since the recall technician came out, the tub seems to be very loose and it will bang badly inside the machine. She also witnessed, during one cycle, that the machine turned itself on and off during the rinse and spin cycle - almost like the control panel was shorting in and out, electrically.
Since making this report on 2/217, the consumer has attempted to reach the manufacturer many more times. They have not sent anyone to assist/repair.

The product, in the report: Front load washer
Caller is reporting that she is experiencing problems with her front load washer. She stated that there is violent vibration and a smell of burning insulation emitting from the rear of the unit. She indicated that it was in the spin cycle on delicate about 4 mins to complete when they smell the odor. They immediately unplugged it and contacted the manufacturer.
(2/1/17) The manufacturer agreed to sent out a service technician for inspection, he advised her that the drum was rubbing against the gasket causing the smell. However, the odor was not emitting from the from of the unit. The technician advised that the drum and control board be replaced at her cost which would be more than a new washer. She stated that the technician did not check the rear of the washer where the odor was coming from.
Caller feels that this washer is a fire hazard and should be reported.
