No one hurt Made Jan 30, 2017, sent to the company Feb 14, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 1, 2017
The product, in the report: Model WA52J8700, Serial #: 0E6H5AEH202661P. I was sold a re-called washer after the announced re-call. It replaced my 13 month old washer. It was ‘repaired’ by the DISH Satellite repairman, as instructed by Samsung, to secure the lid and apply stickers. It is now operating poorly. The repair was not a true repair. It simply secures the lid. Since that time, it has altered the cycles (especially rinse/spin) and goes off balance, even when the laundry is evenly distributed.
Samsung TLW - I had 13 month old machine that was part of the Samsung TLW recall. I chose to file for a rebate on 11/5/2016. In doing so, I purchased a new machine (same model) from JC Penney, a site listed on the Samsung web site, indicating that the model was available for purchase and would be delivered from a Samsung warehouse. I ordered the washer on 11/9/2016, 5 days after the recall announcement. It was delivered on 11/15/2016. I initially, we thought we had a new and improved model because the serial number on the packing slip was not recognized in the Samsung data base. Later that day, we noticed the serial #, now located on the lid and not on the rear of the machine, had on digit (a ‘P’) at the end of the serial number. When I entered it into the Samsung database, sure enough, it was a recalled model sold after the recall. I contacted Samsung and was told, that since it was purchased within 30 days of the recall, I would be entitled to a full refund. OK, that’s nice, but what about my first machine that was removed by JC Penney and what was I expected to replace the 2nd one with? The call was sent to an escalation manager. I received a call from the manager, [REDACTED] , on 11/17/2016 and we brain-stormed a solution. I would accept the ‘repair’ and still be entitled to a full refund. At that time, there was no other replacement within my delivery area. A DISH Satellite repairman ‘repaired’ the machine on 11/23/2016. It was at that time that I realized that it was not a root cause repair, he simply secured the lid from becoming a missile. Since that time, the machine has not functioned properly. At times, it stops with a dC indication, noting an imbalanced load, even though the laundry is evenly distributed. Also, there are times when the rinse/spin cycle repeats and there is a lot of shaking of the machine. I have contacted Samsung and have not received one cent of a rebate. I also have been told that I would not receive the rebate since I chose to have it repaired, it voids the rebate. It is now covered under the warranty. That makes no sense. They sold me a re-called model after the re-call announcement. The repair created more problems and didn’t address the root cause of the problem with the machine. The machine is not repaired as it was intended to be used. It’s reliable and unpredictable. 3 months ago, I had a 1 year old machine that was supposed to be a high-speed, large capacity washer with vibration control technology. I bought the large capacity and expected it to function as it was intended. I now I have a washer that is unstable and unpredictable. I also bought a matched set. Please help! There are thousands of us that are not being treated fairly by Samsung. I want an new washer and dryer that is reliable and not a threat to the household.

The product, in the report: Samsung Model # WA422PRHDWR/AA-01 Serial # YOI (1) Y5AED106466L White top load with black glass insert in lid -- top controls in center and right side
Samsung top load washing machine VRT he shakes violently during spin cycle. It reverses during high spin cycle and starts the wash cycle again. This response repeats several times before the washing cuts off. To complete the wash cycle, I stand by the washer and cut it off at 7 minutes. I then change to the Rinse / Spin cycle to be sure the clothes have rinsed. Again when the cycle reaches 7 to 9 minutes and starts to shake, I turn off the machine and hang the clothes outside to drip until they can be put in the dryer. What a time-consuming mess!!!

The product, in the report: Samsung top load washer
Starting in Jan 2016 my Samsung washer started shaking during spinning. It cause the drain pump bracket to break, causing the drain pump to fall off and caused a water leak. I found out that samsung had a relocation drain pump kit. I contacted the company Feb 23 2016. They would not send me a pump relocation kit to repair my washer. I contacted them also April 5 2016 and May 2 2016. They wanted me to take it to a tech and for him to verify it was broke. Now I found out about this recall and contacted them Jan 27 2017. They want to send me a label kit where I can’t use certain features of the washer. I have asked them for a full refund. I dought they will do that since they have not helped me since first reporting the problem. I want all the features on my washer to work, because that is what I paid for.

The product, in the report: Samsung washer
10 January 2017
Samsung TL W Rebate Program c/o Stericycle 6026 Lakeside Boulevard Indianapolis, IN 46278
Dear Samsung Rebate Office (or whomever at Stericycle that helps “Protect People and Brands, Promote Health and Safeguard the Environment”).
Dealing with this recall has been one of the most frustrating interactions I have ever had with a company. First of[ after hearing about the exploding washers. we did not want to take the risk of using ours. so we went out and bought a new one (a Samsung believe it or not) Trust me that it would not have been a Samsung except for the fact that we paid $899 for the original washer ONLY four years ago. and could hardly afford to pay for another high-end washer again now. So we bought a floor model that has a bash in the side but still worked. But there was no deliver~ option. so we had to pay to get a hand dolly from [REDACTED] and pick up and install the washer ourselves. (I know that your rebate pays---ostensibly---for delivery, but sadly I don’t have a receipt for the $85 bill from [REDACTED] for the hand dolly rental.)
That’s just the beginning of my saga with Samsung and Best Buy (half the time I wasn’t sure who I was getting connected with). The fact that there is now a third party (Stericycle) involved. makes me even more wary that my consumer plight will ever reach anyone who may be able to make the slightest decision that changes even one nano-portion of one cog in the wheel.
Regardless, my interactions regarding what should have been a simple transaction have pushed me to the limit where I am writing this letter. You don’t know me, but if you did. you would know it took a great deal to get to this point. Believe it or not. I have better things to do. But regarding this issue, to note:
1) I got a call from someone named [REDACTED] on October 19, 2016, saying he was from the Best Buy/Samsung Recall, who I made a deal with for a new washer and pickup of my old one Dec. 7 (I still have his original call messages on my phone). No one ever came. (Sec #3 below for my follow up on this.)
2) On November 4, 2016, I received an email stating: “Because you have already registered your washer. a Home Label Kit will arrive to the address provided within 14 days.”
I never received the labels I was promised. Oh, but I got an email yesterday (January 7, 2017) stating: “Thank you for your submission. Your home label kit will be shipped to you within 14 days.”
3) When no one arrived for my Washer pickup on December 2. 2016. (which l had to make sure I was home for), I called my local Best Buy and they knew nothing about it. I then called the number from that [REDACTED] had left me (800-303-5518) and got a recorded message saying that Iine was no longer in operation and that I should call 888-237-8289. I called that number and got stuck in a phone tree until I finally got and someone who said they would connect me with Delivery.
The next person I got was from Sales. She went to connect me with Delivery and then I get into another phone loop telling me Samsung is working with the Consumer Products Safety Commission to resolve this and that, because of high volume, to go to the website or hang on for assistance. I hung on. Then I got a message saying Samsung has reached an agreement with CPSC. Go to our website or hang on for assistance. I hung on. I finally got someone who told me-after I say why I am calling-they would try to get me a Delivery number.
He said he will try to find a phone number. He gives me the number 800-[REDACTED]. I tell him that doesn’t make any sense, and explain the problem and that I don’t know what department he’s in, but he should put an email up the chain that the loop saying that the Recall department needs to revisit its phone tree in that the phone loop has dated messages about the status of the recall and there is no easy way to get to a representative.
I finally asked what department this person worked in and he said ... wait for it. .. the Recall department. Um, might that not have been a good idea to mention when l was complaining about the recall line and for him to let someone know about it? In any case. I ask him to find out what happened with the pickup and says he can’t find anything and that he can’ t help me. I ask if he can at least find out who I talked to: that surely there must be a record of the call.
He could find no record of my initial call and says again that he’s sorry but he can’t help me. When I asked this customer service representative his name he wouldn’t give it to me, when I asked to talk to a supervisor, he wouldn’t connect me. When l insisted on talking to a supervisor,. he hung up on me. He ... hung ... up ... on . .. me. Are you kidding me? Are you hiring high school freshman to fill recall lines? I didn’t try calling back because based on the above. I’d probably never find him or his department again.
3) I went back to the original message from [REDACTED] and found that my caller ID showed a non- 800 number ([REDACTED]). I called that number on December 13, 2016, to find out about getting the washer picked up. The person was as helpful as possible, and directed me to someone else. I called someone else (a lovely, helpful woman named [REDACTED]). who actually told me whom I should contact and also informed me that I could also get a rebate. She told me to have my washer picked up by calling a certain number, and that I could get a rebate on the washer 1 had bought if I sent the receipt and serial number tag from my old washer-and the receipt from my new one- with a form from the website.
This was first I’d heard about this. It ‘s ironic(?) that I only reached this helpful woman, and found out about the rebate, after I sleuthed to through my incoming calls to find the above number. I had received no contact from Samsung about the recall via the email the company, even though they knew how to contact me (as they had once already per #2 above).
So, after calling the number she gave me, and telling someone at that number about my problem. I was told they would look into who could help me. Very quickly after, someone from [REDACTED] called me---someone named [REDACTED]. Finally! A really helpful person (THANK YOU [REDACTED] for being professional, helpful, and actually able to solve a problem). Because of [REDACTED] the washer finally gets picked up on January 7, 2017 (though this letter is tedious, the alert reader will note that the washer gets picked up the same day that I get a second notice about soon-to-be-delivered home label kit I should use to label the washer as potentially dangerous).
At this point. you might think I would just be happy to have the recalled washer gone and a dented working washer in my home (after all. I could have bought three high-end washers were I being paid for all my time spent getting to this juncture). But no. I’ve gotten this far so I want to cross the finish line.
So off I go to the Samsung website. where it takes a hit to find the rebate form. I print and fill it out (am even willing to go through snail mail to get my rebate---although this seems to be another hurdle cast in the road to consumer justice-really, Samsung, even though you populated the snail mail form with my address and washer information. you are not able to create a form I can fill out, save, and easily send by email? Gosh. given the technology of your washers. that’s kind of surprising).
But then, when filling out the form I had to print, I discover that I have to have 2 serial tags, or 1 tag and a photo of the tag from the back of my washer in order to be eligible for a refund. My machine only had 1 tag, and I was not told I by the woman who informed me about what I had to do to apply for the rebate that I had to take a photo of the 1 tag in addition to including it with the from. So I’ve only included the I tag.
Oh, and I also learn that my form and receipt have to have been submitted 30 days within buying the new washer. Given the timeline above, that would have been impossible. In fact, I’m still waiting on my home label kit. But if l didn’t apply for my rebate within 30 days I’m not eligible for the negligible (and varying based on whether I bought Samsung again) rebate?
I will wait to hear about how you process my claim before deciding whether to contact the Samsung and Best Buy hoard members, or posting on social media, about my experiences with both companies regarding this recall.
Regards,

The product, in the report: top-load washer
(11/15/2017, Estimated) The consumer set the washer to a bedding cycle and put two blankets to wash. The consumer indicated that it was one queen size blanket and one king size blanket. The consumer noticed excessive vibration during the spin cycle. The consumer indicated that she had to repeatedly stop and restart the washer spin cycle to drain the water.
The consumer states that she heard on the news about the Samsung top-load washer recall and she contacted the firm to inform them about her safety concerns. The consumer was advised that her serial number was not included in the recall and her washer was not affected.
Approximately two weeks ago, the consumer unexpectedly received a Home Label Kit and contacted the firm because she believed her washer was added to the recall list. However, the consumer was advised that her washer was not recalled and they could not explain why she received the Home Label Kit. The consumer states that she wanted to file a report with the firm and wanted her safety issues on record but they repeated transferred her to different departments. The consumer states that she spent 45 minutes on the phone and finally hung up from frustration.
The consumer indicated that she has not used bedding cycle since the incident. The consumer states that she hasn’t had excessive vibration when washing small loads on normal wash.
The consumer believes her washer should be included in the recall because it poses the same safety hazard.

The product, in the report: top load washing machine
The load moves to one side a lot. The washer has to be unplugged and the clothes moved around, so that it can be balanced again. This issue occurred during the wash cycle prior to the recall modification..
1/18/2017: A mfr. tech.. came out and provided the Recall Repair: 17-028:. The consumer was also given a label and advised not to wash heavy loads in the washer.
The consumer placed a couple pairs of jeans in the washer for the first load after the repair and when the cycle finished, all of the clothing was dripping wet as the consumer lifted them out the machine.
1/18/2017: The consumer called the mfr. and asked for the recall rebate option. However, the rep. told her that she was no longer eligible for that option, since it was repaired under the recall remedy. The consumer pointed out that it was not actually repaired. They told her that they could send out another technician, but the consumer declined, because the machine works worse than it did prior to the recall remedy repair.

The product, in the report: Samsung 4.5 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer SKU #: 4115597 Model #: WA45H7000AW
I purchased a Samsung 4.5 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer SKU #: 4115597 Model #: WA45H7000AW from RC Willey on 12/1/2015 for $533.22 plus tax and delivery fees. In November 2016, it was recalled. Although I had not experienced any trouble with my washer, and in fact, recommended this model to others because I was so satisfied, I had the recall repair performed.
After the repair was done, my washer started vibrating violently and making a lot of noise during normal use. I called Samsung and told them about the new issue and asked if I could have a refund because I am not happy with the repair. They told me that because the repair had been completed, I was no longer eligible for the refund (or “rebate” as they are calling it). I expressed my displeasure with this, and they said they would send my case to escalation and I would be contacted. No one ever contacted me, so I called again. That time, I was put through to escalation, and the representative told me that I can not have a refund or rebate and another repair is my only option.
After reading the manual, I now realize that the advertised features of this washer no longer apply. It boasts of VRT (vibration reduction technology), which it no longer has. It is incapable of washing bedding (expect on the gentle cycle, which does not get it clean enough, nor does it spin out enough water). Waterproof items are no longer to be washed in this machine. If I had known all of these claims were false, I would not have purchased this product.
In addition, I have learned that this machine is still unsafe, even after the recall “repair.”
I feel that I have been deceived by Samsung, as the product (and features) I was sold is not what I currently have. I would like a full refund of my purchase price, including tax and delivery fees.

We have a Samsung Washing Machine.
We had the recall repair done by a DISH employee in December 2016 and we have been very careful with the machine ever since. Today whilst on a medium spin the machine made a huge boom 3 times and my husband quickly turned it off. It then leaked water all over our kitchen floor. After inspecting underneath the machine we found several brackets were broken and a pipe that held water was disconnected. We have a 2yr old toddler and she was playing in front of the machine at the time.

My Samsung washing machine just exploded. I bought a new home about 30 days ago and the old home owners told us they had a brand new washing machine due to a recall. I later learned that it has just been repaired by a Samsung technician on11/15/2016. We moved on on 12/22/2016. The washing machine exploded 1/24/2017. There was a loud explosion and the entire machine flew to another wall. The sides are all popped out. I have young children and they could have been seriously injured had they been anywhere near it. This is terrifying. I can’t believe they fixed a faulty machine and it exploded again. This is not safe at all.

I currently own a samsung recalled washer. MY top has not yet detached from the washer but we have issues with the machine vibrating and banging against our dryer during the wash cycle. No body has been injured in our house but it really is only a matter of time. The two options for the recall or simply pathetic. The repair is not working and the dollar amount of 376 dollars to buy a new samsung is a slap in the face when the cheapest washer I can find is almost 500 bucks. Our household is stuck between a rock and a hard place and I feel we are not being treated fairly by samsung.

The product, in the report: Samsung 4 point 5 Cbic. Ft 9Cycle High Efficiency Top Loading Washer ADVERTISED WITH VIBRATION REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY CAPABLE OF WASHING BEDDING AND HEAVY DUTY ITEMS
I purchased a Samsung topload washer and dryer set in July of 2015. On December 29, 2016 after a couple of small loads of laundry the washer Model WA457000AW began violently slamming against the dryer and surrounding walls. I stopped the cycle and checked the load to reset it in case it was off balance... the clothes were evenly dispersed and way below the recommended max load size. Upon restarting the spin cycle to finishing drying them, the motor would power up but the drum would not spin until 3 to 4 minutes in and then the drum began slamming inside the housing again. Upon finding the unit was recalled, I found hundreds of reviews of shoddy repairs being done by Dish Network employees contracted by Samsung.. simply adding a bracket to keep the lid from blowing off... not fixing the stripped motor and drum, mold and mildew, broken housing or glass lid, or damaged property. I also learned we are being told to affix a COVER UP LABEL over the control panel to trick us into washing bedding and bulky loads on DELICATE by way of placing this sticker over the old controls. THIS IS NOT ALLOWING US TO USE THESE MACHINES AS ADVERTISED, IMPLIED, OR INTENDED. I WAS SOLD A MACHINE ADVERTISED AS A LARGE CAPACITY WASHER WITH VIBRATION REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY CAPABLE OF WASHING BULKY ITEMS AND BEDDING WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE MACHINE, THE INTEGRITY OF MY HOME, MY PETS SAFETY, MY SAFETY AND MY FINANCES
I then learned if you opt for this shoddy repair, you void the other option, a small rebate, even smaller if you make the smart choice and pick another brand. Feeling duped for losing an essentially brand new, well taken care of, pristine machine, I decided buying a new one and filing the rebate would protect me the most. I bought a new washer two weeks ago thru Home Depot and it came JANUARY 7, 2017. I loaded the NEW washer with about six small items of clothing and started it. As it reached the spin cycle, it too let loose and violently began slamming the dryer AS WELL. THIS IS NOT A RECALL. THIS IS NOT A REPAIR. THIS IS NOT A REBATE. THIS IS A SCAM. MILLIONS of consumers are experiencing this same scam. Millions have been recalled and the replaced machines we are buy have had this SAME JERRY RIGGED BRACKET ADDED BUT THE DRUM IS STILL DISCONNECTING. WE NEED FULL REFUNDS. I want the full amount paid for my original washer and dryer as the dryer has been violently slammed by TWO fault washers and I want a refund on the second washer. I have all receipts and documentation. THIS RECALL IS A FARCE.
I am attaching receipts and product claims by Samsung stating this machine promises VIBRATION REDUCTION TECHNOLOGY, HIGH CAPACITY LOADS AND PROMISES THIS MODEL IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL. The last two digits of the model number have been changed from AW to AA....Samsung has removed original manufacturers labels on these machines and replaced them with different endings. THESE ARE PATCHED MACHINES. THEY ARE NOT SAFE AND THEY ARE COSTING US THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THIS IS A SCAM. I am commanding a refund for original washer and dryer set purchased from Best Buy in July of 2015 for the amount of 1380.25 and the second defective washer Samsung tricked me into purchasing in December of 2016 in the amount of 629.05 from Home Depot. I want this hazard out of my home.
PLEASE NOTE THERE ARE MULTIPLE DATES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SCAM, ORIGINAL PURCHASE JULY 2015, SECOND PURCHASE DECEMBER 2016, AND SECOND FAULTY MACHINE DELIVERED JANUARY 2017
I have filed complaints with the following agencies and retailers CPSC, FTC, CFPB, US Attorney General, Florida State Attorney General, the executive offices of LOWES, HOME DEPOT, HHGREGG, AND BEST BUY at this time.

While doing a normal load of wash suddenly I smelled a very strong odor of smoke and something burning. I immediately went into the laundry room and found the washer shaking. Immediately opened the door and a gust of smoke came out and also sparks. So I unplugged the washer. I then decided to call Sears where it was purchased. They told me it was a Samsung problem and told me it was a recalled washer. Then I called Samsung and was told it was not a recalled item and was out of warranty by a short time. I feel strongly that Samsung should cover a 6 year old washer.

The product, in the report: White top loading Samsung washing machine
I purchased a set of the Samsung top loading washing machine and matching dryer in June of 2012. The washing machine is under the recall from Samsung since November 2016. However, I was not sent any info and did not know about this recall until I called to have my dryer fixed. The dryer quit drying on December 25, 2016. The washing machine has not being working properly for over a year. It continues to rinse clothes over and over wasting 100’s of gallons of water. It will shut down with an error message frequently due to the machine not balancing correctly. I however NOT aware of the dangers involved in this machine would ‘help’ the machine balance and spin correctly so not to waste more water by standing in front of it and bracing my legs against the front and holding the top part of the machine to help stabilize it. It would help, however I did NOT know how much danger I was putting myself in by doing this. So when I called about my dryer, that’s when I learned about the machine. They sent out a tech form DISH Satellite TV to do the ‘safety’ repair which consisted of the tech taking off the top of the machine and placing bolts and nuts around the underside of the lid, and then he said he had to [REDACTED] the drain hose anchoring it to my other water hoses because it could come off and flood my house...I was given no paperwork and no ‘stickers’. The machine wasn’t fixed of the problem at all so I had to continue with the store I bought it from, thankfully because I had bought an extended warranty. It’s been 4 weeks now and it still is not fixed. It rinses and rinses wasting water because it won’t balance and when it decides its done rinsing it makes terrible noises and makes the machine ‘walk’. It’s scary sometimes. So I don’t use high spin anymore, causing my finally fixed dryer to overwork more.

Samsung Washer Model # WA400PJHDWR SERIAL# Y69Q5AECB03825W Purchased 1/8/2013
In late July 2016 the washer began to violently rock and vibrate while in the spin cycle. It caused the drum to be unbalanced and the unbalanced error signal was constantly coming on and interrupting the wash cycle. We then tried to run the wash on a lower spin cycle and the washer began to violently shake once again, so violently that it shifted a few feet across the laundry room and the washer hoses became unattached. After this incident, we checked our warranty information with Samsung and found our warranty had expired.
We replaced our washer in August 2016. In November 2016 we were notified about the Samsung Washer recall and discovered our model was included in the recall. However, when we contacted Samsung, they confirmed that our washer was included in the recall but because we replaced the washer before Samsung made the official recall, there was nothing they could do for us.

The product, in the report: Samsung steam aqua jet washing machine
Using my Samsung washer for my family is a must. I have used it from delicates to heavy loads such as bedding or light rugs around the house. With each use the vibration seems to be getting worse and worse. It vibrates so violently I don’t even open the laundry room door until the cult leader is completely complete. It sounds like it’s going to throw the lid right through the drywall. This is even after the recall fix. I also have rust and corrosion where there should be a protective stainless steel film. This is very noticeable each time I open the lid. Even leaving rust spots on my clothes. Or white lines on my clothes as well. Extremely upset that for three months I have been dealing with Samsung to repair the top of my washer and I have been told the rust, corroding, peeling film is not covered under warranty. This is not my only concern. It’s the violent vibration with each load that concerns me to the point of not using my washer. With a family of 5 this is impossible to not use my 2000 dollar Samsung set. The one time I felt like the washer was gong to vibrate though the wall. I went in to check on the load after the spin cycle had finished, sure enough to find the entire washer had moved itself forward and crooked because it shook so violently. Thank God the lid was still attached. I have no faith that this product will do the job of it’s intended purchase. I also have a fear of it hurting one of my kids.

Our Samsung Washing Machine Model Number WA45H7000AW/A2 had a recall. On 11/21/16, Samsung sent a DISH Tv technician on 11/21/16 to fix the recall issue. On 1/5/17, as I was doing a load of laundry on the newly requested settings, the tub part of the washing machine separated from the housing, rendering the washing machine useless. The washer moved forward about 6 inches when this occurred but thankfully nobody was near it so nobody was hurt.

While washing a comforter in my washer, it agitated so much that it ripped the comforter (I’ve since sewn it the best I can), and scraped the washer’s rim. It scapped the washer’s rim so bad that things now get caught and ripped against it. I had to duck tape the top so this doesn’t happen. I was able to stop the washer before it broke itself while agitating so loudly and vibrantly. I didn’t know this was a recall defect, or I would have kept track and taken pictures.

The product, in the report: Samsung top load washing machine, white in color.
We purchased a new Samsung washer and dryer in April 2016 at Best Buy. We were in need of a new washer and decided to go with this particular Samsung set. Even after hearing reports where some Samsung washers have exploded and caused property damage and even bodily harm. I called Best Buy to ask about this issue at which point they stated not to be aware of any issues. I then called Samsung to ask the same question and was told they were not aware of such issue. I had seen news reports where this issue was reported but none in Texas where I reside. In November 2016, Samsung officially recalled several of their washing machines due to excessive vibration or the top detaching from the chassis. In some cases reports of property damage and serious injuries have occurred. After discovering our washer was on the recall, we were terribly concerned about our safety. The remedy offered by Samsung is a free home repair or a rebate toward the purchase of a new Samsung washer. After much research I have found that Samsung is sending a DirectTV technician to make this repair and in many cases the repair fixes nothing. Samsung states to give you an additional one year warranty on the washer which I think is still not good enough. The second option is a rebate toward a new Samsung washer which is not enough to cover the purchase of a replacement. They give you the option of purchasing a different brand washer but they will give you a much lower rebate amount. We are a single income family of 7 which is why we decided to with this particular set that will accommodate the loads of laundry we accumulate. For that same reason we can’t afford either one of these options given by Samsung. I went online to make this recall claim and was offered the above mentioned options which I was not satisfied with either one. I contacted Samsung over the phone and was told those were my only options available, the only other thing they could do is send the claim to corporate. They stated it don’t guarantee anything but they could possibly offer another option. I was told someone from corporate will contact me within 24 to 48 hours, it has been well over 48 hours and still haven’t heard anything. I don’t think it’s fair that we have to choose between these two options that don’t rectify the fact that these machines are defective and they refuse to make things right. At this point we feel they are blaming us for this major issue. If we take this rebate we will have to make an additional purchase for another washer which we aren’t getting a rebate to cover and still be left with the balance of the defective washer to pay. In many cases I’ve hard we have to wait as long as six weeks to get such rebate, which is unacceptable. Samsung needs to take responsibility for their mistake and replace these washing machines for their customers.

The product, in the report: Samsung washer
I have a recall washer and dryer from Samsung. Due to the increasing incidents of the items exploding I called Samsung and requested a repair they weren’t offering the repair in my area initially after several phone calls I reached them via face book they offered me a full refund for my washer I unfortunately could not find my receipt and the distributors receipt was no accepted by this time the Dish network guys were in my area and came and replaced the brackets. I tried asking the gentleman what the difference was in what he was replacing but his information was limited. I feel like the washers are still at risk and need to be band I fortunately have home owners ins and will file a claim if I happen to become affected by their exploding washers I just pray my kids or myself are no where near.

The product, in the report: SAMSUNG top loading washing machine
My wife and I purchased a SAMSUNG top loading washing machine in 2013. We realized in November of 2016 that ours was part of the recall. We contacted SAMSUNG and they sent out a DISH TV technician to bolt down the top of the washer. It will no longer complete a cycle, and type of cycle. The spin cycle becomes unbalanced and causes the machine to shake and make very loud sounds. My wife has been pulling the saturated clothes out of the washer and placing them in the dryer. Her back has become sore from the weight of the wet heavy clothes. The dry time has gone from about 50 minutes to 222 minutes. This is causing a financial increase in our utility bills, and my wife may need medical attention to her back from the strain of lifting the heavy clothes. Since the initial visit from DISH TV, we have called SAMSUNG two more times for maintenance. Neither repair man touched the machine, but did come to our home. The latest repair technician told us that SAMSUNG does not know how to fix the machine and that we should buy an older model washer that is less digitalized than the newer models. He said this would save us expensive repair costs in the future.

Purchased a top load washing machine from SAMSUNG sixteen months ago and the drum stopped spinning adequately a few weeks ago and then started violently banging the housing. I did what Samsung said and bought a new one because consumers are lamenting about the shoddy repair process. The day it came, before I could add the new serial number to the rebate form and mail it off, it BROKE AFTER THE FIRST WASH... been waiting almost a week with no reply from Samsung. I am out 2200 on the set of washer and dryer and have a broken machine sitting in my house after the first one was hauled off. The rebate will not even cover the entire cost of the new machine MUCH LESS THE OLD ONE I PAID 800 for. This whole episode has been emotionally draining I have to find a way to pay my credit card bill for this mess. WE HAVE BEEN WRONGED AND WE DESERVE HELP.

The product, in the report: Samsung Washing Machine Model # WA48H7400AW/AA Serial # OEKZ5DDHA00764M
We purchased a new Samsung Washing Machine on November 25, 2016. It was delivered to our home on December 10, 2016. It worked fine until the morning of January 9, 2017 - one day short of a month old. A single mattress cover was placed in the machine to wash prior to taking our kids to school. Upon returning home 20 minutes later, the washing machine was found about two feet out into the room still running. It was assumed that it just got off balance and no further inspection or thought was given. The machine was paused and moved back into place and then resumed the wash cycle. Left the room for about 5 minutes and came back in to find water pouring out of the bottom of the machine. Apparently, sometime during the commute to school and back the machine had exploded the top of the washer loose and the whole drum had separated from the rest of the machine on the inside.
This washer is not on the current recall list, but has done exactly what the other machines are being recalled for even though it was not yet a month old. The sales person assured us that this machine was not on the recall list and therefore ok.
We are fortunate that I returned home that morning, else our wood floors would have been flooded by the machine. Also fortunate that nobody was hurt. The recall needs to be widened to include this model as well and seems like all top load washers should be taken off the sales floor until the problem is resolved.

The product, in the report: 5.2 capacity load Samsung black top load washer manufactured in 2015.
I have been told Everthing must be washed on the delicate cycle to avoid malfunction. .
On Sept 3, 2016 I purchased a Samsung top load washer along with the matching dryer. It was delivered on September 4, 2016. On September 29, 2016 I saw on the news the top load washers were reported as exploding & the there was a recall. Naturally, I called Samsung to inquire if my brand new set was on the recall & was advised the issue was fixed prior to mine being manufactured & therefore I had nothing to worry about. The agent then advised me to registered the washer & dryer on Samsung.com, which I immediately proceeded to do & received an email documenting the registration. On Friday, 12/30/16 the washer began to make a loud grinding noise followed by a violent clanking sound. I then called the technical # listed on the machine itself, 866/726-7864 & was then advised the washer is “actually” on the recall. You can imagine my frustration. They offered me a rebate & bonus of $150 if I purchase another Samsung washer. After speaking to a friend who also had a SS top load washer on the recall & who chose the rebate option, it took much longer than the 6-8 weeks promise her to receive the actual rebate check, in fact she just last week received her rebate check after filing in Sept. Not to give a sob story but I’m a single mother & don’t have extra money to all of sudden go purchase another w&d set & wait months for a refund. Ultimately, I chose the repair option & the Dish Network (yes Dish Network) technician did come out today to repair however it wasn’t until today that I realized the repair is not actually a repair, it is in fact a work around. They provide a sticker for the machine which eliminates the bedding setting & in turn the bedding setting on the replacement panel sticker corresponds with the “gentle” cycle on the original washer setting. I explained this is not what I paid for & would like a refund or a rebate check now to replace the defected set. I have spent several hours on the phone with them & have 3 ticket #’s. They attempted to reach me Monday afternoon at 4:46 & but did not leave me a voicemail so when I called them back this am I was advised the ticket was closed because they were unable to reach me. Therefore, I had to start the process all over again basically from the beginning. I feel they are wrong on so many levels & Samsung has not truly attempted to truly justify this matter just a work around which in turn only benefits the company not the consumer who is greatly inconvenienced with this matter. I would like to bring this to light in attempt to warn others from this nightmare.

The product, in the report: I couldn’t find “Laundry” as an option, so I chose “Kitchen” as the closest category I could identify.
We puchased a Samsung Front Load Washing Machine in 2010 or 2011. Model # is WF328AAW/XAA 02. Manufacture Date on label is June 2009. Last Saturday we noticed it was suddenly much louder than usual on the spin cycle. Then last Monday morning smoke began to fill the drum. It smelled like burning metal. I noticed the odor around 6:00 a.m. upon entering the room to move the clothes into the dryer, not realizing that my husband had stopped it from running in the middle of the night due to the same odor. (I had set it to run at 2:00 a.m. while I slept, and fortunately he was up while it ran and noticed the problem.) When I opened the drum to get the clothes out, smoke poured out of the drum.
I’ve since found multiple reports by other consumers on YouTube and the like, stating the same problem, in some cases with videos. The serial number on our machine is W01F54AS600701E.
I was disappointed to learn that existing recalls from Samsung on its washers do not include a recall for this problem. I have ordered a non-Samsung replacement, and I feel that the app. $1000 we paid for this machine should be refunded to us to cover the replacement. We feel fortunate that our house did not catch fire as a result of this problem.

The product, in the report: Samsung
I have a recalled Samsung Washer. It’s a 700 dollar washer that the extended warranty was still good on when this all started. Was told to wait and see what they would be doing. Now that extended warranty has expired, and their idea of a fix is Dish Network coming out and installing 2 bolts, and stickers going on the machine, changing the bedding cycle to the delicate cycle which in NO WAY spins heavy bulky items enough. Or they offered me 256 dollars towards another Samsung washer or 156 dollars on a non-samsung washer. This is NOT ACCEPTABLE! I have seen several people still have issues after the “fix” The inside of my drum is chewed up from this issues, and I was told I could address that with the repair tech when they came out, only DISH was coming out and said they couldn’t do anything.
I’ve seen recalled machines still in the stores. I don’t think I should have to suffer because I refuse another of their washers!

The product, in the report: Samsung HE Top load washer used for washing family clothing.
Samsung HE washer vibrates and shakes tremendously. It is on the list of recalls. I called Samsung today and tried to get information from them. Their customer service rep spoke broken English and was very hard to understand. Since this washer has already thrown items off and hit my foot I am not going to keep it. It is my understanding I will take a substantial loss (from the rep) if I do not replace with a Samsung model. I am not sure how the washer will be disposed of. I asked that question and the rep could not answer. My washer was bought a year ago and has only been used a couple of months. This is a second home that we own and we live here four months of the year.
I am going to proceed and buy a [REDACTED]. I am very disappointed that Samsung was not “PINNED DOWN” with exact instructions on how the consumer proceed and get the defective product removed.
At Sears today the young sales rep said he had not been advised on how to handle any of the returns.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load Washer
Purchased Samsung Top Load washer. Notified Samsung and they offered either a fix for the unit or a rebate. We opted for the fix. Samsung sent a Dishnetwork Technician who applied the fix in about 5 mins and immediately left without showing what he did. Our unit now experiences severe vibration and is significantly louder than before. Notified Samsung and asked to apply the rebate since the fix did not work. They declined upon sending another technician out to look at the issue. First technician never showed, and Samsung was notified. The said that the appt was never setup correctly and set up another appt. Technician did show and said there is nothing they can do to fix the unit. I notified Samsung and they said that they never received the report from the 2nd technician and that they would have to send another technician. I informed then that I am taking time off of work and using sick time to make all of these appointments, and that was unacceptable. I again asked for the rebate, they said they escalated my issue and I would be contacted in 2-4 hours which I have not been. Each call to Samsung has been a painful experience. I have been hung up on, transferred to multiple departments (warranty, escalation, customer service) and each time I have to recount my situation in detail. I am very frustrated, don’t have a unit that works as it did when I purchased it and is a result of the so called fix they applied. I am advising that no select the fix over the rebate, it is just not worth it.

Wife tested machine and same issue with violent shake in spin mode no clothes in washer. She asked for repair work order and was refused, technician stated they are not allowed to give work order or repair order numbers and there was nothing he could do about that. He said he was trained by watching a 1 hour video.
Wife did laundry in small loads 1/4 fill tub and even on low spin cycle tub hits the inside wall of the washing machine cover.
We have called our extended warranty company whom told us that Samsung touched it they won’t honor warranty and refused to service us saying Samsung owns it now.
Since 12/10 we have got 8 different ticket numbers, have called at least 5 times following up with only being able to speak with initial phone takers, no one higher. Asking for supervisor mean sitting in a hold for 88 mins, while being told there is no supervisor queue.
Finally got a hold of a repair person and they promised to call back exactly on 12/28 at 5PM EST to check some things out (I took off work early based on our conversation while I had her on the phone) and then no phone call.
Seems to me Samsung is fixing the after effect of the lid or clips breaking when in fact they should be focusing on the cause of the poor design of the barrel/tub and why it gets so out of balance with nothing in it.
The washer is not usable in any spin cycle and its too bad that being on the recall list meant no one now will cover it under a warranty nor will Samsung own up the issue. Maybe a class action lawsuit should be in order here. Just throwing away money like this is something most can not do.
So far we now have a $730 dollar lump of coal and are left in the cold.. Really?

The product, in the report: Samsung Front Loading Washer Model WF328AAW
We own a Samsung Front Loading Washer model WF328AAW. On Dec. 21, 2016 my wife was washing clothes. We were in the bedroom when we heard a loud boom. Upon investigating we found that the washer looked like it had exploded from the inside. The washer was displaced. The side was bulging out and with enough force to dent the side panel of the dryer next to it. The front panel was bent in several places and the door was jammed shut. The rear panel had broken out and you could see the steel tub protruding. You could also see a large dent at the back of the tub from looking inside the washer. I removed the top panel of the washer so that i could get the door open. What i saw was complete destruction inside. The steel tub has literally ripped from the plastic housing it was in. Ripped completely around. There were shattered pieces of plastic everywhere. Many of the plastic components inside were broken or crushed as well. I say crushed because they would crumble as you touched them, unlike you would expect for plastic that should bend. I took pictures of the outside and inside damage. No one was injured and there was no unusual smell or smoke.

I have the Samsung washer that was recall. prior to the recall the washer started shacking . I called Samsung for repair and they sent a repair company to handle the job. Out of my pocket I spent over #300.00 for this repair, I’ve tried a number of times to get Samsung to refund the amount paid, They have responded by passing the buck to all departments except the refund one. I could have them repair the equipment again but I still would be out $300.00 + . The washer repair corrected the problem prior to the recall. Any idea’s on getting the money returned, I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem.

The product, in the report: Top-Loading Washing Machine
The consumer indicates that the washing machine started sharking excessively during its SPIN cycle. The consumer would check to make sure the load was balanced. After this, instead of the washer shutting off after spinning because the load was done, it would fill up with water and start washing the same load again. The consumer states that the washer would shake so excessively that it knocked her down once. Eventually the machine would heat up.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation. A Service Technician was scheduled to inspect the consumer’s unit. The first, second and third Service Technicians that inspected the consumer’s unit were not able to repair the unit so the. The electric modem that was replaced and the brackets that were put in place to stop the excessive shaking did not fix the issue.
The consumer became aware that her washing machine is included in the Manufacturer’s recent recall. They opted for the repair since the Manufacturer was only offering them one-hundred dollars had they chose a refund. A Service Technician tried to replace the electric modem but the consumer informed him that it had already been replaced; the Service Technician was not aware of this so he left. The consumer is waiting for another repair.
The consumer states that prior to the unit malfunctioning, she used her washing machine on a daily basis however when the problems starting occurring she used it every other day. After the Service Technicians tried to repair her unit, the consumer has not been able to use it at all.
The consumer is unsatisfied with the way the Manufacturer is handling the recall as they cannot repair the washing machines. The consumer plans on keeping the unit for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load Washer 4.7 cu. ft - “High Efficiency” with “VRT” Vibration Reduction Technology. Model # WA5451ANWXAA01 -- now under recall from Samsung.
Samsung Top Load Washer - Model # WA5451ANW XAA01 lost all it’s water and flooded my laundry area, as well as the water then running into the wall space and ultimately flooding into the basement. The area below the washer has wiring that could have shorted out due to the flooding. We were not in the house at the time and it could have continued to run water into the tub with nothing to tell the washer to shut the water off.
The washer had stopped previously for an occasional unbalanced load, seemingly due to the way the washer tangled the clothes in the wash cycle, therefore ending up with a mass of clothes on one side.
I called the dealer who is approved for authorized repair from Samsung. In a service call on 3-8-2016, they determined that the connection from the washing machine to the drain hose had completely come apart. They replaced the clamp that had been the original equipment on the machine. I asked at the time, how that could even occur, and they indicated one possible cause could have been excessive vibration or excessive motion of the tub during the spin.

When it came to a stop the clothes appeared to the eye and to the touch to be nearly dry. In the second incident the same vibrating/shaking and at the end the clothes were very wet. In the third incident the machine went unto violent in the presence of the two of us as the spin cycle began; I reached over quickly and turned off the power. At this point we are entirely dissatisfied with the Samsung product and demand a refund of the money we put into the Samsung washer and dryer in order to apply those funds toward a different brand from the same (Lowes) store. The product, in the report: I have a white top load washer, Samsung Model - WA45H7000AW/A2 4.5 cu. ft. Top-Load Washer - White Size: 31.0 x 29.0 x 46.5
I have the Samsung Top Load washer, and it is shaking when using on other spin cycles with normal loads. the repair of putting two screws in the machine by a unknown repair company is NOT a viable option for a single parent like myself. When I wash a small load of towels it takes at least 6 dry time cycles to get them dry, and in between that I am hoping they don’t get that nasty smell due to not drying completely after running all day.
This is not acceptable, I just purchased this washer in May, 2016 it was delivered in June 2016. It was produced in April of 2016 and they knew about this issue since 2015 (at least if not longer) and they are not willing to refund me the full purchase price. They only will give rebates AFTER you go out and spend money on another washer. If you purchase another Samsung you might break even, BUT IF YOU PURCHASE ANOTHER BRAND, THEY WILL NOT GIVE YOU A FULL REFUND. SO I will be out of monies that I can’t afford.
THIS IS NOT FAIR TO MYSELF OR OTHER CONSUMERS THAT PURCHASED THEIR PRODUCT, WE SHOULDN’T BE PENALIZED AND HAVE TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO BE ABLE TO GET A SAFE WASHER. I spent my hard earned money on this washer and for them to say the screws will fix it BUT you can’t use these features anymore if highway robbery.
I want a FULL REFUND AND SAMSUNG TO PERSONALLY COME AND PICK THIS WASHER UP AND DESTROY IT.
THAT IS THE ONLY FAIR THING FOR THEM TO DO.

The product, in the report: Samsung Washing Machine (model WA422) purchased new in 2012
My Samsung top-loading washer (model # WA422 -- purchased new in 2012) broke apart while in use (in 2015) and flooded three rooms of my home, including the laundry room. This was a significant electrical hazard as the machine was still plugged in and running while in standing water.
I called Samsung, and they sent their authorized service contractor, who charged me more than $100 for the service call just to look at the problem. He then quoted me a repair cost almost equal to the purchase price of the washer. He showed me a plastic part that was completely broken into two pieces (on the bottom of the washer) and said it would need to be replaced with a more durable metal part and bracketed differently to be less vulnerable to vibrations. He also told me that this was an issue that had occurred repeatedly with this model washer -- and that Samsung was aware of the defect but was not making any recompense or covering repairs.
I was so upset by this (given that it was a safety issue they were neglecting to rectify!) that I declined the repair and instead purchased a new washer of a different brand. As this was only three years after purchasing the Samsung, my family could not afford ao buy another new washer with the same features and power, so now we have a mismatched washer/dryer set that does not get the clothes as clean, unfortunately.
It seems as though, rather than step up and correct and obvious and known safety hazard in their product, Samsung chose to run a bit of a “racket” in charging consumers exorbitant amounts to repair it.
Even if nothing can be done to recoup the losses in my case, I hope that the CPSC holds Samsung accountable for their dangerous and neglectful business practice!
Thank you very much for your time and attention!

The product, in the report: Samsung top load Washing Machine
My Family and I came home to water all over the floor in the laundry room as well as it leaking down into the basement that is a finished family room. This was caused due to Excessive shaking in our Samsung washing machine, that caused the pump motor bracket to break. When this happened it caused the pump to be detached and is now damaged to the point that It needs a new pump and bracket assembly. It also caused all water from the load of laundry to be pumped onto the floor of our house. In looking for a part to make the repairs so that we can use the machine, we found that It was under recall. I attempted 4 times to complete the online recall information, but it would not allow me to complete the scheduling a repair screen. With that being failure #2 for Samsung, I then called the next am and was on hold for 1 hour and 22 minutes only to be told that repairs could not be done for 19 days or I could have $256 toward another washing machine of the same brand. This one was purchased on 2/15/14 so just a bit over 25years old and cost $640 (as I have the original receipt). That Is not an acceptable amount for replacement, not even close to half! (Seems like a way for another big company to rip off the honest working person) Then when I questfoned who pays for me to Drive to town (as we live in a rural area) to do laundry, who pays for the cost to do the laundry, and how do i get compensation for the water damage this machfne caused? I was told “well mam we can fill out an applrcation and they will review it and possibly contact you.” With NO OTHER OPTION but loose all money invested and pay more money out of my pocket. .. l SET UP THE APPOINTMENT AND HAD THE FORM FILLED OUT ... NO ANSWERS AND I WAIT . ..! HOPE THAT SOMEONE SERIOUSLY LOOKS INTO THIS

I would like to report a problem with a Samsung washer that goes beyond the current recall.
On Monday, Nov. 14, I was scheduled to get the free repair that Samsung has developed for washer lids. However, on Sunday, Nov. 13th, my washer unit failed. It ceased running mid-cycle and now won’t operate in any cycle. Moreover, the lid is latched and will not unlock regardless of whether the unit is powered on or off. Finally, it emitted a burning smell like an electrical short, which led me to unplug it.
I’m concerned about the possibility of other units sparking house fires, which might have happened if I hadn’t been home at the time of the failure.
This unit is only 4 years old and is subject to the recall, but as described above, it has additional issues. This unit also broke down when less than 18 months old due to a broken wire to the drain pump.
My attempts to contact Samsung to resolve the issue have failed.
I appreciate any assistance you can offer.

Our machine vibrated badly and broke pump, mount broke, hose came loose and dumped gallons of water onto pump connections, (electrical hazard), and onto floor, we have had an appointment with Samsung nobody showed. This was not a few clips fix our machine broke dangerously. We gave up trying to work with Samsung to get this fixed, went to Lowes to buy a new Samsung to get maximum rebate, Lowes has pulled all Samsung top load machines off the floor.

The washer was starting to go into spin cycle and water, soap and bleach just started flooding out from the bottom of the washer...with no means of stopping the flood. My mother (74) heard the noise and ran to unplug the machine, she slipped but caught herself...very lucky not to have fallen or been electrocuted. I was tring to move the machine and slipped with my right foot hitting the baseboard...which bruised and sprang my ankle. The Flood of Water, Soap and Bleach was in the Laundry Room, Kichen, Garage, Hallway and Cabinets. Samsung told me to send them an Estimate of Damages (which I did) but I have never heard ONE Word from them since. My mother and father are both in their seventy’s and my father is a Retired/Disabled Air Force Veteran with Cancer and Heart Disease which makes the Mold Issue from this Incedent a real concern for his Health. The Damages Caused by Samsung have never been Repaired...the Damage Estimate was in the amount of $10,977.63.

Normal useage, my fiancée started a load of laundry in the washer and water began flooding out from the bottom of the washer flooding my laundry room and my kitchen. It has rendered my washer, dryer, dishwasher, and refrigerator unsafe to use because water came into contact with the electrical systems of all appliances. And with the amount of water we are now concerned with damage to our flooring, along with the walls and are concerned with potential mold damage.

The product, in the report: Samsung front load washing machine
Our Samsung front loader (not currently under recall) washing machine began smoking during a load. It filled our home with smoke and smelled like gas and smoke. The vibrations were extremely loud and sounded like it could explode. The washer is from 2011. A technician indicated that the drum was broken and needed to be repaired, but this should not have caused the amount of smoke to be in our home. The technician told us that it was definitely not safe for use.
The model of the washer is WF330ANW/XAA.
Samsung was extremely unhelpful and made no efforts to help us. They also clearly were not concerned about the safety once they knew it was not a model under recall and there was no long term damage to property.

The product, in the report: Samsung TOp Load Washer on recall: Model Number WA48H 7400 AW serial number 0BHH5AUG503796D
Hi I have a SAMSUNG top load washer and have verified that it is part of the recall. It is making very loud and alarming noises. I am concerned for my safety and that of my children. I have called SAMSUNG twice now (11/7/16 and 11/8/16) to schedule an in home repair. The average wait time is each time has been over 60 minutes. I spoke to [REDACTED] in Toronto. THey scheduled the repair on 11/8/16, could not give me a specific time - so I had to stay home from work all day. NO ONE CALLED AND NO ONE SHOWED.
I called again on 11/8/16 - Explained what happened. Spoke to [REDACTED]-who promised to escalate this. she promised someone would call me within 24 hours. NO CALL. She promised she herself would chck back with me --- she has not.
11/10/16 3rd time to call - similar wait times and experience - They promised to escalate the call. I agree to another repair time. But I HAVE ZERO CONFIDENCE that someone will be out to REPAIR the WASHER, and now the DRYER in no longer heating.
I bought both of these on 9/5/15 at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Dallas, TEXAS.

My Samsung washer, purchased on 10/6/12, model number wa456drhdsu, serial number y6bp5aec600567y almost exploded in my garage on 10/7/16. I heard an extremely loud noise and vibrations. I went into my garage and it was intensely hot. The washer had moved away from the walll, stopped spinning and water was pouring out. I shut it off and unplugged it. Two days later I went and bought a new washer and had to also pay to haul the broken one away. At HHGregg, where I had purchased the old and new machines, no one told me to report the issue. On 11/4/16 I heard about the washer recall. I could not get through to Samsung on the phone so I sent an email. The email has not been acknowledged.

The product, in the report: 3.7 cu. ft. Front load with VRT Vibration Reduction, deep steam cycle, “performs smoothly at top spin speeds, minimizing noise and vibration with super capacity, up to 26 bath towels in a single load or king size comforter and full set of bedding” according to their manual.
We purchased a Samsung Washer Model# WF419AAU/XAA. The washer was advertised by Samsung as having vibration reduction technology, minimizing noise and vibration for top spin speeds. It also claimed it was extra-large capacity and could wash a full set of bedding and king size comforter or up to 26 bath towels in a single load, saving time, money, water, and energy. The washer was far more expensive than any other we had ever purchased, but we thought if it did these things then it was an investment. Even though it touted large capacity capability, my spouse kept the loads at the same normal load. He is a stickler for not putting too many towels in the machine because at the time, we still had a cheaper dryer. So he didn’t want to burn it up just because we had a better washer. At around six months, the spin cycle stopped working even! We hadn’t even tested it’s true capability and it hadn’t even held up to the cheap machines capability. It was under warranty so a Samsung repairman came out (which took several days because not just anyone could fix). After he “fixed” it, it did spin again. But ever since then it has made a horribly loud spinning sound during the spin cycle. It shakes and hits the wall and is so loud that we have to close the door and turn the tv up or go upstairs. He claimed it was the washer and we were lucky that it happened while under warranty (even though we still had to pay labor!) The washer is like being on a factory floor it’s so loud. It is suppose to be quiet! And it is louder than any cheaper washer we’ve ever owned. We don’t stay in the room with it while it is spinning. But after seeing the top load recall, I am really concerned. I thought we just were unlucky and got a lemon but I’m concerned now that it is a similar issue. And worse case, I’m concerned it will harm our families hearing as it is sooo loud. I have 4 children so this is a big concern for our family. I tried contacted Samsung and the rep was very dismissive and said there were no recalls on this machine. When I asked to file a complaint, he said I could put comments in the feedback section of their website. (Dismissive like the repairman who fixed the spin but left us a loud wreck of a machine). I own a ton of Samsung products from phones, TV’s and tablets, to the washer, now matching dryer, refrigerator, and dishwasher. Aside from the TV - where the screen literally cracked less than a year after having it - just right in the middle of us watching it!....The washer is the worst investment I’ve ever made. I spent $1000 on the washer alone. The cheap $250 [REDACTED] I had when I was first married lasted longer than this. And wasn’t this loud! The Samsung is suppose to have a dcb limit for quite on it which it obviously is not meeting. I’m furious I was dismissed this long and wish I had complained here sooner. There are many forums with consumers with this same complaint.

After I watched the news I became aware of a recall with this Samsung washer. According to the news it was advised that consumers wash using the Delicate cycle. On 11-08-2016 I was washing a comforter on Delicate cycle. I heard a loud noise from the washing room and went to check on the wash. The noise was so loud i pushed the power button and stopped the wash cycle. At this point water spilled out of the bottom of the washing machine. I have now left the washing machine unplugged and unused.

Made a phone call to Samsung who said that although my washer was on the recall list according to the serial number it didn’t fall in the recall. I proceeded to say that this was already the second washer since I bought it 4 months ago. First one made all kind of weird noises and since it was within 30 days replaced it.Also told the rep. that it was banging at high speeds and that the tub was so loose that I was having to run it at low speeds to keep the washer from sounding like it was going to fly off. My washer has all the same problems the other washers have but she said call a repairman and hung up.

He ended up adjusting the machine but to this day, the machine vibrates excessively while am doing doing laundry, which forced me to stop using the machine altogether now.

The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load Washer Model Number WA422PRHDWR/AA Color: White 4.2 Cu. Ft. 9-Cycle High-Efficiency Top Loading Washer
On or about October 27, 2016, my Samsung top load washer, model number WA422PRHDWR/AA, flooded my house. I placed a load of laundry in the washer, turned it on, and 15 to 20 minutes later water poured from my laundry room into the garage, three bedrooms, three hallways, kitchen, and a bathroom. A message error appeared on the washer as it alarmed to the malfunction. Before water restoration could begin, a formal dining, formal living, hallway, and a second living area were ruined by water from the Samsung top load washer. A plumber came out and cleared the house of active water leaks. When he turned the washer on and water immediately poured from the bottom of the washer. The result was a significant amount of water in the laundry area. An appliance technician was called out and he found that a pump which connected the water hose to the washer had broken. He reported that he had specific instructions from Samsung on replacement of the part because there had been cases of this part breaking, causing water damage. The position of the water pump and hose posed a high risk for malfunction and breakage.

The product, in the report: top load washing machine white
This washer lid popped open and hurt my wrist badly, bruising my arm for weeks! I was reaching to stop it at the control panel as the load sounded unbalanced. I yanked my arm back too violently and tore something in my shoulder. My wife’s a doctor so I didn’t seek medical attention, but I still have shoulder pain from the incident. How do I know your next machine isn’t going to hurt me? A rebate of $31 is NOT acceptable to me. An hour of my wife’s time is $210, not to mention the time I spent rehabbing my wrist and shoulder. DO YOU THINK THIS IS A GAME? Samsung offering $31 rebate is like them thumbing their nose at those of us their machines hurt.

Not sure if we should try another load.

Heard about the recall of certain models of Samsung top load washing machines on 11/4/2016. The recall notice states that the top cover of the machine may be blown off when the machine is in use. My washer is one of 34 affected machines. Although we have not had an incident, we want to have the machine modified in order to prevent any problems.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
1) Under normal use, the washing tub spins violently out of control, slamming into the interior of the chassis and damaging the drum. We cannot use the machine on the “high” spin cycle because of this.
2) The above drum control issue causes a hose to regularly become detached from the system, causing the washer to spill water directly onto the floor underneath.

No one hurt Made Nov 4, 2016, sent to the company Nov 15, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 30, 2016
The product, in the report: Samsung Top loading washing machine
I was home alone and started a load of laundry. I was upstairs and heard what I thought was construction noise. It sounded like a boulder being dropped in a dumpster. I went downstairs and noticed that my washer was about a foot away from where it normally is. As I was standing there, it started to spin at a very high speed and started to lift off the ground and shake side to side. I threw myself on to the washer and tried to hit the stop button. It continued to spin violently. I hit it again and it finally came to a stop, with the results in the pictures. In person the washer looks much worse.
Here is where things go wrong, as if the traumatic incident wasn’t bad enough. I called Home Depot (where the washer was purchased) and was referred call Samsung directly. I was informed that there was a recall on some of the Samsung washers. This was the first time I had heard of it. I called Samsung at 12:45. I spoke to a agent who showed very little concern about the incident or my safety. He was trying to start a claim and told me that I would be contacted within 2-4 hours. I was extremely traumatized and had been shaking and crying. I expressed this to the agent and was told again someone would call. That didn’t happen. At almost 6pm yesterday I started to reach out to Samsung again. When I called it was an automated system that told me I had called before and asked if my info had changed, but then there was dead silence and I could reach a person. I went on the Samsung chat and tried to get somewhere that way. I was told I needed to wait till someone called me. I then asked in the chat if I should go to the media and was told that an urgent message would be sent and that I should keep trying the 800 #. So I tried again and asked for a customer rep this time in the beginning of the call. I was able to talk to someone. This was the 4th attempt in calling. I again was told that someone would call me. It was almost 6:30. While on the phone a vm popped through. My phone never rang. It was from a [REDACTED] at 201-982-8897 at Samsung. I called back, but got his vm. It is 9:30 on Friday now. I have still not heard from [REDACTED].
I have a 4 year old daughter, two sons ages 8 and 11 and a dog. Had they been standing where I was yesterday, I hate to think of what could have happen. I am still very upset about this. The timing is so odd because of this being on GMA this morning. I am lucky that no one was hurt. I am super disappointed in how his is being handled by Samsung. I just purchased Samsung range microwave three weeks ago. I have totally lost trust in Samsung and am going to contact Home Depot about replacing the microwave too.

No one hurt Made Nov 4, 2016, sent to the company Nov 15, 2016, published by CPSC Nov 30, 2016
The product, in the report: Samsung Top Load Washer gray
We bought our Samsung WA456DRHDSU/AA washing machine in December of 2012. At first it ran so smoothly. But then over time, It started to shake a little and make a worrisome banging sound during the spin cycle. At first, it would shake and bang and then that noise would go away as the spin cycle continued. From about 2014 to 2016, we had no idea that we were putting ourselves, our children and grandchildren in danger, but we suspected that what the machine was doing wasn’t a good thing. In the summer of 2016, the machine started shaking and banging much louder and lasted a whole lot longer. I would be afraid to go check it in case it was about to explode or something. In September of 2016 it started shaking and banging so bad that an error message appeared on the machine and the machine shut down. We were not aware of a recall at that time, and therefore called an appliance repair company to check out what was wrong with our machine. We were told it was the “shocks” and had those repaired at a cost of $250 to us.
Even though our machine has run better since that costly repair, we don’t dare place heavier items in there or fill the machine more than halfway full. This is unacceptable. We should be able to wash clothes, bedding, towels, etc as we have done for years and years. Without worry. We have always just placed things that needed washing in our old washing machines and washed them and didn’t worry that the machine was going to go out of control. Seems technology has made us go backwards, instead of forward.

The product, in the report: Samsung top loading over 2 years old and is on list of recalled
We have a samsung top load washing machine we bought at home depot just over 2 years ago when we built our new home. We have noticed that at med and high spins, the machine makes much noise and gets a little wild at those times. We have even stopped the machine to check the load, and can’t figure out why the problem. We do not overload, and the machine is leveled. Now we know why hearing about this recall. It is one of the models written down in recall
