The product, in the report: gas range
(03/08/2021) The consumer stated that her husband was baking bread in the oven. He removed the bread because it had burned. He turned the oven off. When the consumer went back into the kitchen ten minutes later, the kitchen was very warm. The oven was still on and she could not get it to go off.
The consumer’s husband pulled the range away from the wall and unplugged it. He found a plain envelope attached to the back that explained something about a resistant temperature detector and a F10 code. The consumer stated that there was not a code on the control panel.
The plastic veneer on the cabinet next to the range melted from the heat.
The consumer contacted the firm and filed a report.
It seems that two different safety systems failed. “Resistance Temperature Detector” (page 1 of copy) and “Electronic Oven Control” fault codes “F10” (page 2 of copy) Should have indicated “RUNAWAY TEMPERATURE’ but did not. The control panel continued to appear as if it was working in that I could turn the temperature down to the lowest level and then appear to turn the oven and broiler off. Meanwhile the orange glow emanating from the oven looked like fire. It blackened the light bulb inside the oven, melted the veneer on the cabinet and would have burned the house down if no one had remained at home.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire 5 burner, gas range with oven Model FFGF3019LBE
The oven’s igniter stopped working and the burner would not turn on. It happened once in December 2020, but the consumer was able to light the oven once, afterwards. However, she has not been able to use the oven after getting it lit that one time. The oven’s burner will no longer turn on.
3/1/2021: The consumer called the manufacturer, [REDACTED], to report the problem to the firm. A pre-recorded message, directed her to a local authorized service company [REDACTED]. The consumer was concerned about calling them, because her warranty has expired and she does not know whether or not they will charge her for the repair.
2019: One of the range burners stopped working properly. The consumer called a local service company and they sent a technician out to repair it. The technician (name unknown) came out and replaced the front left burners igniter. The burner worked fine after the repair.
The consumer noticed a slight odor of gas, when these instances occurred, but since the burner and oven did not light in those instances, she quickly turned the gas off. She also noted that she has CO detectors in her home and they did not alarm in either instance.
I [REDACTED] notified 3/2/2021 the Home Repair Service they stated that it would cost $150 dollars for service call this didn’t include parts and labor.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Single oven gas range self cleaning Model number FFGH3054US
I purchased a Frigidaire gas stovetop and oven On 12/15/20. The knobs on the stovetop ignite so easily that when just lightly brushing against them either the gas and or the flame will ignite. We noticed a gas smell in my house because someone walked past the range a must have lightly leaned against it. The Burners Unintentionally ignite numerous times way to often.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire gas range model No. FFGF3054TSD serial No. VF94291584
This email is about concerns that I have with my Frigidaire Gas Range model number FFGF3054TSD, serial number VF94291584. Less than a year ago I moved into a new home located at [REDACTED] . The builder, Beverly Homes, included in the sale the above mentioned Frigidaire Gas Range. We moved in on February 28, 2020. In that short time there were at least 4 instances where we could smell gas in our new home. The source was always traced back to a burner turned on and not ignited. The reason for the burner being turned on was due to the loose knobs that are easily turned.when reaching into the microwave or upper cabinets. I recently asked my neighbor it they had a similar problem. He told me that he has the same problem. So went on [REDACTED] to research the problems with the Frigidaire range and found a video of a man that was having the same problem. This is very disturbing! Each time this happened I just happened to enter the room and smell the gas. I shutter to think what would have happened if the gas was on and we left the house for a few hours or it we went to bed! This problem could have catastrophic consequences! This is an obvious problem with this range. Do you have a fix for this problem?
Thank you, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Stainless steel cooktop
We have had this cooktop installed for 6 months. The knobs are way too easy to turn. My dog put his front feet on the stove and almost burned our house down. My toddler has turned this stove on by accident. I have leaned back and the knobs turn on. My house has filled with gas several times and today the flame was lit by a 40lb dog. This needs to be recalled.

The product, in the report: The product is a Frigidaire gas range in stainless steel color purchased in 2017. The appliance has 5 burners and an oven. Model FGGF3036TFA
My gas range has leaked CO into our home twice now. The local gas company came and put red tags both times and shut off the gas connection to the oven portion. The first time we were using the broiler. The second time, we were using the regular oven. Both my daughter and I were groggy and had nausea when this happened.

Caller is reporting that the gas range burners turns on easily without the user’s knowledge. She stated that her cat walked across the stove and the two front burner’s came on which caused gas to escape. Caller stated that she contacted the manufacturer and they informed her that they noted the incident in her file and that there was no recall on the product.
Caller stated that if she had not noticed this incident quickly her house could have been filled with gas. Caller is concerned that these burners are not securely made to prevent this incident and should be recalled.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire 30 in. 5 cu. ft. Front Control Gas Range in Stainless Steel Store SKU # 1004402031 Internet # 309564981 Model # FFGH3051VS
The glass in the oven door of our Frigidaire stove shattered while the oven was pre heating. I have only had the product since February 2020, so this was very unexpected. Glass fragments went all over the floor, and are still dropping out from the door, as some of the broken glass is still inside. We have a cat and are very worried about the glass shards. They do not make it easy to replace either. I just called Frigidaire, and they redirect you to local repair businesses you need to call yourself. I paid $1000 for this product. To say I’m unhappy is an understatement.

The product, in the report: Gas Wall Oven H/A-Exc/Wall Oven 24 inch Silver
Frigidaire Gas Wall Oven purchased June 6, 2017 malfunctioned and could have started a house fire. I understand that the Frigidaire Electric Wall Oven had a similar problem and was recalled. Why wouldn’t they check the gas oven ? Oven when turned on would immediately heat to 600 degrees (as tested by technician) instead of the 350 degrees of which I had selected. During this time the broiler never went off although not selected. Unit turned itself off and reset to default 12:00 setting. This appears to be more than a normal problem of an oven. This oven was used only approximately 50% of normal usage. Although frigidaire claims it is not an recall item, it should be. Frigidaire please stand behind your products. In the past you have stood behind your name with your products. I personally feel this is a malfunction on a stove just 3 years old.

The product, in the report: gas, self cleaning, convection oven with range
There is a delayed ignition. When the broiler is turned off, the unit stays on at full temperature, even though the oven is off.
The consumer began to noticed the problem back in 2018, but wasn’t sure why this happened or if it was normal.
The consumer said that she is experiencing the same exact problem as the ones in the [REDACTED]. The consumer called the recall firm, because her model number is off by 1 digit from the ones in the recall, but the firm has not been willing to do anything for her. The consumer was told that her product is out of warranty. Their rep. told her they could send out a tech, but she would have to cover the cost. The consumer said since she has the same problem, her model needs to be added.
The firm gave the consumer a reference # [REDACTED] and she spoke to [REDACTED].

The product, in the report: Frigidare Drop In gas range Model Frigidare Gas Stove Model FPGS3085KFH
Frigidare Gas Stove Model FPGS3085KFH Ser # NF40227050
I want to advise you of a very serious safety issue with a Frigidare gas range that results in a serious explosion hazard. I am a retired electrical engineer. Last year we purchased a Summer house in Ohio that is 7 years old. It has the Frigidare range cited above. We recently had a problem with the oven main burner coming on but not igniting, thus filling the kitchen with gas. This puzzled me since I know that gas appliances have safety valves to prevent that. Historically, gas appliances had pilot lights that heated a thermocouple. If the thermocouple did not sense the heat from the flame, it would not allow the main gas valve to turn on. Later, a continuous pilot light was replaced with a spark igniter and a pilot light that only turned on when the appliance was used, but it had the same thermocouple for safety. Both of these systems were very safe. When I investigated why our kitchen filled with gas and later discussed it with the repairman, I found that this range has an entirely different system which, I believe, has a serious design flaw. There is no “pilot light” of either type or spark igniter. Instead there is an igniter with a heating element that gets hot enough to ignite the gas. The gas valve senses the current to the igniter and if there is none, such as with a broken igniter, it will not turn on. When the igniter is new it all works fine. The design defect is that as the igniter ages it does not get hot enough to ignite the gas but the current to it is still great enough to turn the gas valve on. Hence, the gas is on and fills the room or the house depending on how long it is before the problem is discovered. I believe this issue is serious enough to warrant a recall.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gas Range
Two days ago I detected a terrible smell emanating from my kitchen. As I got closer it was stronger and I feared it could be a gas leak of some sort. Terrified, I called emergency service with Columbia Gas. After two service men visited the home it was determined that it was not a gas leak but a faulty part in my new stove that was causing an issue of combustion and ultimately pushing extraordinarily high amounts of CO2 from the range. If we had gone to bed that night without investigating I may not have been writing this letter today. We are having an independent Frigidaire appliance repair company coming out to document this and I have also notified Lowes as well. My plumber believes this is a faulty regulator as a result of poor manufacturing but advised to have a Frigidaire Certified installer come and document this.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire gas range. Model FFGF3054TBE
In April 2020 we purchased a new Frigidaire gas range. Model FFGF3054TBE.
Since then, we have had several (six or seven) incidences of us accidentally “bumping on” the burner knobs. This occurs by accidentally brushing up against the knob and turning it to an on position, without realizing that this has happened. In our incidences, the burner did not light. At some point later, we have smelled the raw gas and gone to investigate and turn it off.
We previously had a similar Frigidaire range that apparently had a much safer knob design. This problem never happened at all in the previous 6 years that we lived here with that older stove.
The issue with the knobs on this new model is one that Frigidaire is aware of from complaints by other consumers, but they have so far refused to offer a fix, saying only that the design “meets standards.”

The product, in the report: Frigidaire cook top model # FFGC3026SB. 30,” 4 burner black cook top
I have a Frigidaire cook top that is approximately 3 years old. On Sunday, May 24, 2020 I was using the large burner on the stove and went to turn it off. The burner valve would not budge. It seized up. I could not turn the burner off. I had to go to my garage and get a pair of pliers to turn it. Prior to turning with the pair of pliers, I turned off the other burner I had on as an abundance of caution. I called out a repairman the next day. When he came out he advised me that these burner valves have graphite in them and when they get to hot they seize up over time. The burner valve that seized up was the one to the largest burner with the most BTU’s on the cook top and it is located right in front of the burner valve. Luckily for us, we were very logical in the way we turned it off. Had it happened to someone else, it could have become a catastrophic event.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire self-cleaning gas range LFGF3054TFE
I purchased a suite of Frigidaire kitchen appliances in January, 2020. Immediately, we (me, my son, my daughter and my tenant) noticed that the gas range knobs, if bumped inadvertently, even slightly, will allow gas to flow without the ignition being triggered. This has happened many times - literally several times every week - when merely brushing it with a hand or hip when walking past or leaning against it to access the microwave. If one of us does not notice slight tilting of the knob and leaves the kitchen, the room fills with gas. This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW and, according to MANY online product reviews, is experienced by many customers.
Frigidaire referred me to [REDACTED]. The appliance serviceman refused to acknowledge the problem. When [REDACTED] came out to inspect and I refused to take “there’s no problem” for an answer, he went to his truck and got a device that senses gas. I duplicated the slight turn of the knob and we waited a few seconds. After a couple of seconds, the meter light went on indicating gas was detected. I said “Look! It detected gas!” The repairman said “No, it’s residual gas from previous attempts” [to demonstrate the problem]. I said that if there was that much residual gas it would have lit up immediately and I asked him to repeat the test again.
HE REFUSED TO REPEAT THE TEST FOR GAS FLOWING BEFORE THE IGNITION WAS TRIGGERED. I again asked him to retest the range for a gas leak. He then said he had another appointment, his company was calling him and he had to leave. He told me he was reporting to Frigidaire that there was no problem. I told him that was not accurate and he said I could call Frigidaire if I disagreed. He was dismissive and clearly not interested in accurate diagnosis of the problem due to the referral relationship with Frigidaire.
Today, I spoke to [REDACTED], a supervisor at Frigidaire, who said Frigidaire would not repair or replace the range and she refused to acknowledge that gas flowing, silently, before the ignition is triggered is dangerous or a design flaw. She told me I could purchase after market clips from Lowes to prevent the knob from being pushed. However, if the clips fail, and I have no means to test for gas flow, then Frigidaire will just claim their warranty of merchantability is invalidated by an after market alteration.
This range has a defective design because the knobs are positioned on the front of the unit where a mere brush of a hand, hip or stomach when leaning against the unit to access the microwave, can cause gas to silently flow. If the knobs were positioned on the lateral surface in front of or behind the burners, it would not be possible to inadvertently brush the knobs causing gas to flow without the ignitiion switch being triggered. The design of the range will endanger anyone living in the home and could result in life threatening, unintended combustion or death from gas inhalation.
I am requesting that Frigidaire replace this range with one that has knobs positioned on top of the range surface. video links: [REDACTED] [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Frigidaire 5 burner stainless steel 36” gas cooktop. Model FFGC3626SSE Serial # #F91203258 Model FFGC3626SSE
We installed a Frigidaire 5 burner LP cooktop, model FFGC3626SSE, in our new home October 23, 2019 and began using the cooktop November 1, 2019. After a month of use we noticed that the stems of the plastic control knobs were cracking. Upon further inspection, we noted that all 5 control knobs were cracked to a degree. The problem became so serious that the metal clip inside the plastic stem was no longer held in place and would spin independently of the knob. My wife called me at work around January 15, 2020 because she could not get a burner to turn off due to the control knob spinning freely. The plastic stem held long enough to turn the burner on but failed when my wife attempted to shut the burner down. Had the knob been turned past the ignition position allowing gas to flow without igniting and then failed, the result could have been an explosion. As a stopgap, I tightly wound the plastic stems with electrical tape to control the cracking and then called Frigidaire customer service. Frigidaire agreed to send 5 new control knobs which were the same style as the original. We received a package of the new burner knobs around January 25, 2020 (the packing label was dated 1/23/20) and began replacing the knobs that were critical. Within a couple of weeks, the new knobs began to crack as well

I have a Frigidaire Gas Range purchased at Lowe’s in 2012 that was recalled. There is a delay between the time the gas comes on and when it ignites. I noticed my stove was doing this which makes a kind of small explosion (woosh) sound when it finally ignites. I looked it up to see if the model had been recalled. It had (Model #LGGF3043KF). The only problem is they limited it o about 167 models with a certain range of serial numbers. Mine fits all other criteria including having the same problem but doesn’t fit that limited range of serial numbers. I called them and they said they would do nothing. https://www.partselect.com/Recalls/75-Frigidaire-Gas-Range-Recalled-Due-to-Fire-Hazard%2C-Sold-Exclusively-at-Lowe’s-Stores.htm (Here’s the link to the recall I found)

This is a gas range. The knobs take very little pressure to push in and turn. It takes only the slightest bump to turn knob and release gas. Our kitchen has filled with gas fumes on 3 occasions. Previous gas stoves have never had this issue. Also, the control panel is nearly perpendicular to the floor. Our dog bumps the panel and turns the oven on. I have contacted Frigidaire and Lowe’s. Both have said they can do nothing because it is a design feature and I bought it more than 30 days ago.

Our new Frigidaire 30” slide in Gas range Model# FGGH3047VF has a severe safety risk. We have a Frigidaire microwave above the gas range. Frequently when placing food in and taking food out of the microwave, we have body contact with the gas range which sticks out further than the microwave. The gas range burner controls are on the front face of the range. When your body touches the controls, they can turn on the gas without the ignitor coming on resulting in natural gas being discharged to the atmosphere. We’ve experienced coming into the kitchen full of natural gas. We consider the faulty gas burner control lock out feature to be a severe safety risk and it can cause loss of life.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery Gas Range Model# LGGF3043KFW Serial# VF71818887
Dear Consumer Advocate:
I recently purchased a house with this gas range installed and inspected by home inspector (passed.} I called Frigidaire to report a safety concern and the woman I spoke listened to what I explained was occurring and said it works as intended/designed. I asked her if there were any known safety issues and/or recalls, she put me on hold to check, came back and said there wasn’t any record of any issues.
Since living in the home the last several months, we have come home about 6 different times to a strong gas smell, as a burner had (unknowingly} been on all day. If you ever so lightly (and unknowingly) brush against one of the burner knobs {that stick out about 2 1/4”) the burner will be on. You do not hear any clicking sound, there is no light indicating a burner is on, you don’t even have to push the knob in to engage the burner. There is absolutely nothing to indicate a burner is on. We are in the habit of inspecting to make sure the line on the burner is straight up (the off position) but even if it is ever so slightly not straight up, the burner is engaged filling the house with gas all day long. I work full time and have a 1.5” commute, so that gives it about 10 hours to be filling the air with gas. The last time, I was so freaked out that I called our energy provider, Xcel, for help, but since I wasn’t home at the time, the only thing they could do was shut off the gas line from the outside of the home. I cannot tell you how much stress this has created for me. Thank God the Xcel Energy tech that came out to the house to turn the gas back on, performed an inspection inside and outside to make sure there were no other leaks. There were not. He told me about the hazards of this particular gas range model and suggested that I buy safety knobs to go over each burner switch (which we did.) Thank God we are not smokers-this could have been fatal.
When I called your office to ask if there had been a recall or any complaints, I was told there wasn’t anything on file. This was rather shocking to me. I implore you to check out this gas range model. I cannot believe that no light indicator, no sound, nothing of any kind to alert you that a gas burner is engaged and on is not a safety concern. Please consider this as an official complaint. J would hope that it would justify further investigation from your agency. If there is another avenue I need to take to accomplish this, please advise. Thank you.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire gas range Model FGGF3059TFE
11/5/19 purchased new Frigidaire gas range model FGGF3059TFE. Have had multiple occurrences of burner turning on by body or even clothing just brushing against range knobs. Range has turned on enough to release gas both with and without activating igniter. Slightest pressure against knob allows knob to rotate. This unintentional rotation of range knob has occurred while reaching over range to retrieve a plate or glass from nearby cabinet shelves or leaning back against range. Though we do not have small children or large dogs or curious cats it is obvious that any of these could easily, by accident, turn on the range top and initiate flowing gas with or without activating the igniter. We have had the service technicians from the retailer we purchased the range from check out the range. They determined that the range is not defective since all knobs turn on this easily. This is an extremely dangerous product that could lead to spontaneous ignition of clothing or a gas leak explosion. The knob requires being pressed in and rotated counter clockwise to activate however the amount of pressure applied to the top right side of the burner is so slight that the burner will depress and rotate by just brushing against it.

The control knobs are on the front of the range get extremely hot, when the oven is in use, but also get warm, when the range burners are used and the oven is off.
The consumer said that she has to use a towel to turn the knobs, when the problem occurs.
10/2019: The consumer contacted the manufacturer and reported her concerns to them. She went through their warranty department and a manufacturer’s authorized technician was sent out on 3 different occasions to check the unit. The tech. found that that the control knobs exceeded temperatures of 150 degrees and ranged between 158 - 162 degrees.
The first time a technician checked the knobs, he did not have a temperature gauge with him, but he did the second 2 times that he came out. The last time that he came out was on the date of 1/27/2020.
12/17/2020: When the tech was there, he called the firm for guidance on the product. The tech was advised to replace the insulation around the oven door and the hinges.
1/21/2020: The tech. came back out and replaced those parts and left after completing the work. The consumer tried the oven afterwards and approximately 45 minutes later, she called the technician and informed him that the problem was still present. The tech came back out and said that he would adjust the pressure.
The consumer tried the oven after this was done and the tech. left, but she found that the oven now takes longer to pre-heat, the knobs still get hot and the hinges were installed in a manner that makes the oven door difficult to use. For example, if one opens the oven door, it does not stay in the open position, but springs back closed. Someone has to either hold the door down to place food inside or the consumer has to use her leg to hold it open.
1/27/2020: The consumer called the warranty department and reported her issues. The rep. placed her on hold, came back and informed the consumer that there was nothing she could do for her. Nothing else transpired.
RE: Knobs when also first contacted Refrigidaire explained I have a 2yr old grandson that lives with me and he had touched them when they were hot but no injury occurred.
Also on 11-6 spoke to [REDACTED] in corporate explained what was going on, and he read me the guide re: stove he explained the stove was first manufactured with plastic knobs and government didn’t approve it so they use stainless steel knobs and approve the 150 degrees that they are allowed to get.

This has happened multiple times and everytime I call ELectrolux about the problem, they blow me off and say that it is not a problem and I need to be more careful around the stove. Frigidaire/Electrolux Gas Range Model FFGF3054TSD, S/N VF92620487. 60 days in use. For the 1st time, I used the broiler-which is a top broiler- and put 2 slices of pizza on a sheet of aluminum foil, on the bottom rack. Within 5 minutes, from another room, I could see smoke pouring out of the left side of the stove. When I got to the oven, I reached in and pulled out-what I thought was going to be scorched pizza, yet it was not even warm yet; let alone burned. I immediately turned off the gas supply, and unplugged the stove; and pulled it away from the wall. Smoke continued to pour out of the top left and the center vent. Both first floor smoke alarms went off. When I put my hand on this area of the stove, it was too hot to actually touch. It took over 30 minutes for it to be cool enough to touch. The smell seemed to be electrical and/or insulation. When viewing online, you can see where similar Frigidaire Models, the insulation caught fire in 2010 and 2015. This model needs to be removed from the market, and recalled before houses burn down, and people die.

The product, in the report: FGGF3036TF Frigidaire Gallery 30’’ Gas Range
Product under question is Frigidaire Gallery 30’’ Gas Range, model number: FGGF3036TF There are what appear to be air vents in the oven’s door, just above the handle. These vents are not smoothed, grounded or polished. These are very sharp metal cut outs. The incident involves our 17 month old toddler who innocently put his finger inside this vent and it immediately lacerated a very deep cut. These vents are all along the product and provides no way of covering it when not in use. The gas range was not operation when this happened and thus is a major safety hazard. It possess the same hazard to someone trying to clean it and could end up with sever cuts on the finger and hands. It should be required that these vents be smooth, rounded and polished to not have any sharp edges.

There are three issues with this stove, two of that where already reported to you who is supposedly suppose to follow through with complaints.
1) The orifice for the right front burner for natural gas is the incorrect one.....
2) When oven is in the preheat mode it stinks like bleach which is probable the insulation burning in between the two pieces of metal.....
3) When someone walks by stove barely brushing up against stove the knobs turn on without a flame.
1st issue caused a burnt counter which you already have pictures of.... Happened in 2012
The second issue was never addressed... every time you use oven
Third is happens all the time I just happen to be here and notices smell of gas and check all knobs, until the other day...
Me and my son whom is 22 years old not a child was home my son took laundry down stairs to start it then we left only for me to return to a house engulf in natural gas!!!! Luckily as a smoker that I am I wasn’t smoking otherwise home might have exploded it took over 45 minutes to air out the house....

I turned on the broiler feature of my Frigidaire gas range for the first time. I purchased it from Lowe’s in February 2013 for a kitchen remodel. The left rear stove top corner started smoking profusely after just a couple of minutes, and the smell was horrific! We turned it off immediately but the horrible odor lasted for 5 days! I hate to think of what could have happened, it smelt like it could start on fire at any time! I saw this report and hope it can be linked to it. [REDACTED]

Our Frigidaire Gas Oven/Stove, Model Number: FGGF3035RFC Serial Number: VF64000633. The unit has been in home for about a year and half approximately. We purchased it new from Sears. Over the course of usage, we noticed that if you brush into the furthest knob to the right closest to our sink, the knob actuates too easily and release unburned gas in the home. This has happened a few times but is noticed quickly and shut off because user is still cooking in kitchen. Today unfortunately, my elderly grandmother had accidentally brushed into the unit and left the gas open on full for unknown amount of time. The knob that was on full was the middle knob. This morning the gas smell was so strong I avoided the crisis before any further damage could be done. I shut the knob off and ventilated the home quickly and contacted customer support for Frigidaire. They have no records of complaints for this unit for this problem, nor do they have a solution they offer to fix their unit. Instead they referred me to Amazon to purchase a child safety knob like device as a solution from a third party vendor. I think this is very irresponsible for Frigidaire as well as I am having hard time believing their side of the story that this has never been a complaint or brought up to their attention. I did a modicum of research which lead me to a small google search and found another person in [REDACTED] who had similar problems with lightly brushing into their gas stove unit. I told them I will be pursuing and making a complaint to whatever business or avenue I can to prevent someone from losing their life, loved ones or even their home. I am not asking for a new unit, or a refund for our unit, I’d just like the company to investigate the problem and warn other’s and offer a proper solution to save lives.

The front facing knobs on my fridgidaire professional series range won’t lock in place. By slightly rubbing into them they open the valve and release gas without any noise before the igniter starts striking. I am 65 and cook almost everyday. On several occasions I have left the valves open filling the room with gas. Recently I came home to a house full of fumes after a quick trip to town. We had not used the stove all morning. This has happened to my husband as well. After searching reviews on the internet, this is a. Dry COMMON PROBLEM with this particular model stove. I am shocked a child has not caused an explosion.

I put a dish into my Frigidaire Professional gas oven yesterday evening around 6:30 PM. The oven had not been used the entire day at that point and was cool. I did not use the oven, the food was being stored in the oven until I was ready to heat it on the stove about 24 hours later, today at 6:30 PM. The oven had not been used at all in the intervening time and the stove had been used at breakfast, roughly 10 hours prior. When I removed the dish from the oven it was hot. I used an instant-read thermometer to test the food inside the dish and it was 147 degrees fahrenheit. I verified again that the oven knobs were all in the “off” position and that nobody in the house had used the oven. Now two hours later the oven is still quite hot, all knobs are in the off position and there is no reason the oven should feel hot.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gas Range - Model #FGGF3054MF - Serial #VF35164616 - Purchase date: 01/14/2014. Color: White - 5 Burner. Product Registration sent: 01/17/2014.
We purchased a Frigidaire Gas Range Model #FGGF3054MF on January 14, 2014. Each time we have used the broiler (not often) the flame is so high, it comes out the oven door. We have always turned the broiler off at this point, and not continued to use it. Last night while trying to cook garlic bread under the broiler, the flame came out the door when opened, burnt the knobs on the stove, and turned the plastic on the front of the oven yellow. We immediately closed the oven door and an error came on the stove panel of F10. The stove started beeping, and we pulled out the “Users Guide.” After reading the “Use & Care Manuel” we unplugged the oven. After several minutes we plugged the oven back in and it was fine. Needless to say, we did not have garlic bread with dinner.
Today, I called the Frigidaire Company and spoke with [REDACTED] at Customer Service. She checked to see if there had been a recall on our model. She said there had not. But, in looking on the internet there was a recall for the same oven for the same issue in 2012. We are concerned that our oven has the same defect as the ovens recalled in 2012, as our story sounds exactly the same as those that were recalled.
After our frightening experience last night, we felt the need to report it. We were told by Frigidaire Customer Service to contact a repair company, (at our expense) to find out what the issue is.
Until we can afford to do that, we will no longer be using the broiler. Hopefully, there is no other internal damage to the stove.
Thank you for your time! [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery 5.0 cu ft Gas Range with self cleaning quickbake convection oven in smudge proof stainless steel.
We purchased a Frigidaire Gas Range, Model # FGGF3047TFB Serial # VF82838651,from Home Depot online on 9/7/18 and had it professionally installed on 9/18/18 by Hankwitz Heating & Cooling of Ludington, MI ph. 231-843-2809. The installation technician did not catch the defect described below, nor did he adjust burners as this was preset at the factory I suppose. We noticed a problem from the point we first used the smallest burner element as described below. There is a defect in the smallest burner element (rear right location) so that when you light it and turn it to a low setting (from 2 to low) the flame goes off but the gas continues to be emitted. All other burners which are larger do not do this only the smallest one. I reported it to the manufacturer and spoke with a [REDACTED] [REDACTED] at extension [REDACTED] and an[REDACTED] a Frigidaire corporate supervisor that [REDACTED] connected me with. I told both of them in detail about my concerns for the gas leak and explosion hazard this product currently indicates. They set me up for a repair appointment scheduled for a Gregorys Repair Service at 231-768-4558 for 10/18/18. [REDACTED] assured me they would look into this problem at the point of manufacture. I told her that is exactly what I wanted to hear. I also emailed and phoned Home depot at 1-877-946-9843 and told first an [REDACTED] a home delivery support representative, then a [REDACTED] a customer care rep of the problem. She referred/transferred me to Frigidaire and Recall.gov. If this problem is a problem with other units sold as well then it is a serious safety concern that could lead to an explosive, fire and asphyxiation hazard. We will not use the burner element in question until after it is repaired.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire 30’’ Slide-In Gas Range
When attempting to light the burners on my gas range, the correct gas valve opens, but the opposite igniter fires. For example, when I am trying to light the back left burner, I turn the far left knob to Hi/Ignite. The gas starts flowing from the back left burner, but the back RIGHT igniter starts sparking. This allows gas to build up on the range top, which is finally ignited by the back RIGHT igniter resulting in a large explosion.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gas Range (used with LP gas) with 5 surface burners and an oven.
I am reporting a safety issue with my Frigidaire gas range (Model FGGF3032MFH; Serial VF50439150) which was purchase in June, 2015. On several occasions, the gas control knobs for the surface burners have been brushed against and started the gas without turning on the igniter. This can cause them to light explosively when they are intentionally turned on. After one particularly dramatic incident, I contacted Frigidaire to see if the recognized the problem and was told that this easy to turn on control knob was in fact a feature of the range added because people complained that the burners were too hard to turn on. I have used gas ranges all my life, and this is the first range I have ever used that has this particular hazard. Frigidaire recommended that I might want to add one of the many child safety covers to prevent this accidental gas release. We do not have young children in our house - this is a problem that affects all of these ranges in all locations. Please investigate this problem and consider working with Frigidaire to recall and replace the knobs.
What follows is a transcript of the CHAT I had with Frigidaire Support on August 7, 2018 concerning this problem:
Info at 10:48, Aug 7: Thank you for choosing to chat with us. An agent will be with you shortly. Info at 10:48, Aug 7: You are now chatting with [REDACTED] . [REDACTED] at 10:49, Aug 7: Hello there, [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] at 10:50, Aug 7: How can I help with your range? [REDACTED] at 10:51, Aug 7: [REDACTED] - On several occasions, the gas control knobs for the surface burners have been brushed against and started the gas without turning on the igniter. This can cause them to light explosively when they are intentionally turned on. Is there a fix for this problem? [REDACTED] at 10:53, Aug 7: I understand the concern with your burners, [REDACTED]. I can research the design of your appliance model to see what I can find out about it. [REDACTED] at 10:53, Aug 7: Thanks [REDACTED] at 10:54, Aug 7: You are welcome. PI have located a file for you. Can you please verify your address and phone number so that I can access it? [REDACTED] at 10:56, Aug 7: [REDACTED] Cell Phone [REDACTED] [REDACTED] at 10:58, Aug 7: Thanks for the information. [REDACTED] at 10:58, Aug 7: I am learning that your knobs have to be pushed in to turn them to lite. Is that not the case with yours? [REDACTED] at 11:01, Aug 7: Yes they have have to pushed in a little but just brushing by them as is common when working at the stove is all it takes to move them to the position where gas escapes but the igniter does not come on. [REDACTED] at 11:04, Aug 7: I understand. Upon researching your range, I see that it was designed for the knobs to turn easily for effortless lighting. Also, I see that customers complained in the past that the knobs were hard to turn, hence the change. [REDACTED] at 11:05, Aug 7: You may check with hardware stores or appliance retailers to see if they may have any accessories that you can use to cover the knobs(like those used to baby proof appliances) to prevent them from accidentally lighting while not in use. [REDACTED] at 11:08, Aug 7: My experience is that these effortless knobs are a potential safety hazard. Do you have a picture of this accessory you just mentioned? We do not have any young children in the house so I am not familiar. [REDACTED] at 11:09, Aug 7: Here is what I see online [REDACTED] . [REDACTED] at 11:12, Aug 7: OK thanks - I’ll look into it - but I’m concerned that Frigidaire has redesigned these to be too easy to turn on accidentally and should fix them but having a stronger spring. [REDACTED] at 11:13, Aug 7: ....BY having a stronger spring. [REDACTED] at 11:13, Aug 7: I will be sure to document your feedback. In the time you have had the appliance, can you recall if the knobs used to require a bit more effort to turn on compared to now? [REDACTED] at 11:15, Aug 7: I’d say that they’ve always been this loose and that I’ve noticed the problem by smelling gas several times in the three years we’ve had the range [REDACTED] at 11:16, Aug 7: Oh I see. I have documented your feedback about this. [REDACTED] at 11:17, Aug 7: If anyone has more information, I’d appreciate an email at [REDACTED]. Thanks for your help...have a good day. Judy at 11:18, Aug 7: Sure! Thanks for chatting and enjoy the rest of your day. Info at 11:19, Aug 7: Thank you for chatting with us.

The product, in the report: Freestanding gas range. This is newer - purchased about 18 months ago.
The burner control knobs to our gas range turn so easily that twice my cat has turned a knob while cruising the kitchen counters and we have awoken or come home to a house filled with gas fumes. There have been many incidents in which a knob was turned by accidental bumping during cooking and gas began to leak into the kitchen, but until now these have happened while we were awake and at home and detected it quickly. When it happened at night, gas flowed into our house for up to three hours, and I feel certain that we could easily have been harmed or killed if my son had not woken up and alerted me that he smelled gas in the upstairs portion of our house. The second incident happened when we had left the house for an hour but left windows and screen doors open. We could smell the gas from the street in front of our home.

I was reaching into the microwave, which is located above the oven. I accidentally touched the oven with my waist. The contact with the switch was very slight, but it turned on and incinerated the gas. My shirt almost caught on fire. I am very concerned with this oven model. I cannot believe that it got approved by the government and is being sold to the public. There is no safety mechanism that stops gas from escaping. It is very easy to turn switches accidentally and it could possibly create a very dangerous situation. The house could be filled with poisonous gas or there could be a very deadly explosion. The risk is even higher for households with children. All it takes for a kid to create a life-threatening situation is to easily turn the switches. The following is the oven information. Brand: Frigidaire. Model: FFGF3015LWG. Serial Number: VF64621783.
There was another incident with this oven during which our apartment almost caught on fire. When we moved in, we stored an apron in the compartment under the oven. There was a sign that says “do not use for storage,” but it was very poorly visible. We were not able to see it and proceeded to store flammable materials in the compartment. Turns out that there is no screen separating the oven burner from the compartment and there are open flames in it when the oven is being used. The first time we tried to use the oven, the fabric items caught on fire. Black smoke started coming from underneath the oven and took us by surprise. Thanks to our quick reaction, we were able to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher.
I hope the government takes appropriate measures to remove these dangerous ovens from people’s homes and compensate them appropriately.

The product, in the report: Gas range ovencontrols
This couple is reporting their gas range purchased from a retailer in Pittsburgh, PA September 11, 2014. The callers had no problems with this range until May 6, 2018 after the wife baked a cake with all seeming fine until she attempted to turn the oven off and it could not be turned off. The husband flipped the valve off which stopped the flow of gas but since it was still plugged into the electric it was still heating and did not stop until he unplugged it. After it cooled he plugged it back in but then later it began heating by itself and had reached temperatures of around 600 or 700 degrees. He used kitchen towels to move the range so that he could get behind it and disable it again because he could not touch it. There are issues that the manual to the range identify such as runaway temperature and macro identification. There are no injuries being reported. The caller did contact the manufacturer who informed him that a contractor could be sent to his home to perform a repair and that the cost of the part would be a cost to him of one hundred and thirty seven dollars but that she had no idea what the contractor would charge for labor,

Frigidaire Gas Range Model: LGGF4043KF Serial: VF70400625 The knobs are a very heavy metal. Just brushing past them will turn on the burner or just the gas. No clicking just turns on that easily! This happens almost every time you either brush by or reach over to put something in the cupboards above. I have come into my kitchen with the overwhelming smell of gas!! We have to keep the knobs in a jar next to the stove to keep this from happening. This is very dangerous. I believe this range should have a recall.

The product, in the report: White Frigidaire Gallery, 5 burner gas stove with self cleaning oven.
Kitchen gas stove. If the control knobs for any of the 5 burners are accidentally bumped they can rotate (ccw) enough to allow gas to escape, without igniting the gas. If the knob rotates just past the “ignite” position it can end up on “high” which is the 1st position setting after ignition thereby allowing more gas to escape into the room. If not detected or noticed, gas will continue escape and cause a very dangerous situation, or worse! In our case the gas leak was detected and we had to open windows (in the winter) to air out the room. But what if the knob gets bumped, is not detected, and you are leaving the house? This situation could be devastating!
It should be noted that there are already several posts listed on various “product review” pages that describe the problem and date back at least 6months along with calls to the manufacturer who has stated that this is the design and they see no problem with it.

The glass pieces flew up on to the countertop and across the kitchen. It was safety glass, so there were no sharp edges, but if anyone had been directly in front of the oven, the force of the glass could have injured their eyes or face.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire free standing gas stove with front facing control valve knobs
Our new construction condo home is equipped with a Frigidaire free standing gas stove with front facing control valve knobs. These knobs are very easily turned ON accidentally when reaching towards the rear of the stove – while cleaning or cooking on the stove, etc. The short knob depression and weak force to overcome the anti-clockwise detent allows the gas valve to be inadvertently actuated with the slightest bump and a glancing swipe across the knobs. This had resulted in many unintended lighting of the gas burners with the upper torso exposed to open flames (no cooking utensils on stove) or worse – un ignited gas escaping from the burners. We had on one occasion returned to a house full of natural gas when one of the stove knobs was accidentally bumped.
These incidents were reported to the US Frigidaire customer support line but they did not offer any assistance apart from stating that one has to ensure that burners are turned off during all cleaning events.
In filtering reports on Frigidaire gas stoves - there are 14 similar reports with very similar events going back 2011.

Approximately 1- 1 1/2 hours after beginning the the self clean cycle on my Frigidaire Gas Range Model # GLGF388DS Serial #VF51020957 I smelled & observed heavy black smoke coming from the top of the oven. I observed either flames or very bright red looking like flames in the oven, observed that the control pad was not lit i.e. time & temperature set panel & it was singed with black soot around the outside of the panel but worse were the flames that were shooting out from the back top of the oven. I quickly poured some water on the flames & then used our fire extinguisher to stop the fire. The fire department was called but luckily we had successfully put the fire out before the fire department arrived. The oven door remained locked & when we unscrewed the back panel we saw where the flame was as well as the destroyed wires making the stove inoperable. We were very lucky that I was right near the stove when I smelled the smoke, had a fire extinguisher & only had to buy a new stove. I reported this occurrence to Frigidaire & they claim that they have no record of a similar incident & it was out of warranty & that they would not come to my home to inspect the stove. I feel that people should know never to leave your home or go to sleep while running the self clean cycle & if possible stay close by your stove in the event of fire.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire 30” gas range model # FGGF3058RFC. Stainless steel. Converted to propane.
I purchased a Frigidaire 30” gas range in February, 2017. Model FGGF305BRFC. My safety concern is with the unsafe burner knobs on this range. I.e., when you lean or brush against the burner knobs, they will turn on either a little, creating a gas leak, or entirely, lighting the burner.
This has happened to my husband & I many times. Thankfully we have smelled the raw gas in time to turn the burner off, or have not been too close to the burner when it lights. Either scenario is a safety concern. I have tried calling and writing the company, with no reply.
I now have wire clips attached to the knobs so they cannot turn on accidentally! And I check and recheck the knobs constantly.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel oven/range
Broiler was turned on to preheat. After a few minutes, there was a small explosion that blew insulation out of the oven vent onto the cooktop. We immediately turned the broiler off using the control pad.
Upon opening the oven door to check for additional damage, a second small explosion occurred as the open door allowed air to enter and the remaining gas to ignite.
No injuries occured as a result of either explosion.
I found a recall for the same model number on the CPSC website, but with a different range of serial numbers. My concern is that the range of serial numbers subject to the recall doesn’t cover all of the defective units, and other consumers may be at risk of a gas explosion in their kitchen.

The product, in the report: 30 inch Frigidaire Gas Range - Model #FGGF 3054MFJ 5 burner - stainless steel front
Since I purchased my Frigidaire Gallery Gas Range 2 years ago, I have often noticed that the slightest movement on the knobs will cause gas to be emitted without the igniter being activated. The first several times this happened, I blamed myself and something I must be doing. I did an online search to see if others had the same issue with this stove and sure enough there were many telling how the gas comes on if the knob is slightly moved. My daughter has a gas range by General Electric and we tested hers to see if the same problem existed and it did not. On her range gas is not released until the igniter...there is no gas even if the knob is turned prior to the ignition stage. The blogs I read online all say Frigidaire does nothing and refuses to say there is a problem...one was advised to buy child knob protectors. This is the response I received:
“I will be more than happy to assist you with your range. The knobs are designed to move easy to allow accessibility for all consumers. It would be recommended to check the knobs if you accidently leaned on the knobs. This would prevent any gas odors.”
This is a serious design and needs to be addressed. I have used a gas range for over 50 years and never have had any problems like this...even before there was the igniters.

(09/16/2017) The consumer stated that if the knob is bumped a little bit, gas is released in the house. The ignition should be on just before the gas is turned on, but this did not happened. The consumer was making a pizza so he did not smell the gas initially.
The consumer called the fire department who came and pulled the stove from the wall. They tightened the fitting behind the stove because there was an undetectable gas leak.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel range oven with 5 burner cooktop. Frigidaire Galley model BGGF3045RFC
My wife informed me that she had been burned twice by the knobs on the gas range we had purchased in 2016. Since we were still under warranty a technician was sent out to exam the range. He felt that there was a problem but when he started doing the research via phone calls etc. he told me there was some bad news: 1) The knobs have been documented to get up to 150 degrees F 2) The front fascia have been documented to get up to 180 degrees F 3) This was a known issue since 2015 and the manufacturer (Frigidaire) has not attempted to make any changes.
My concern is that my father in law lives with us and his skin in paper thin. There is also the possibility of small children visiting. But even more concerning is the fact that I went to the local Lowes and they are still selling this model after 2 years of issues.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Professional 30” Gas Front Control Freestanding Model FPGH3077RF
This item is a gas stove. The knobs for the burner and oven are on the front of the stove. There is nothing under the knobs to stop them from moving - by this I mean that I can set the stove for 350 and if someone walks by and brushes the knob it can easily move to 550. This happened to me again this weekend after having happened multiple times in the past. When it first happened, I figured someone was being careless. However we are 2 retired people in this house - no children. And we are doing it often and easily. The same goes for the gas burners. I came in the house one day and found the gas on - someone had walked by the stove and nudged it just enough to turn the gas on but not the flame. It could have easily been a fire if someone had lit a match - I smelled the gas when I went in the kitchen. I recently complained to Frigidaire and their suggestion was I purchase childproof knobs. What a disgrace.

The product, in the report: Kitchen gas range.
Frigidaire gas range has very weak gas valve detents and gas valve is easily turned without pushing in.
Recently when leaning forward to open a nearby cabinet the left most gas valve ignited and almost lit off my shirt. We have on occasion smelled gas and found valves partially opened, this can happen by just brushing into them unknowingly.
We have owned other gas ranges and did not have any similiar experiences owning them. The burner valves used in this model stove are too easily overcome.

On April 3rd SoCalGas company measured 259 ppm Carbon Monoxide when oven is turned on. Technician said not to use the oven until it is repaired. Two of the four top burners also showed readings of Carbon Monoxide, 15 ppm and 8 ppm.
On April 13th Frigidaire sent a tech who claimed that the readings are within limits set by ANSI standard Z21.1. In my opinion Carbon Monoxide readings should be zero.
Please advise if CPSC can assist me in getting Frigidaire to repair the hazardous condition. Thanks, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Gas Range - Frigidaire
Burner control knobs on gas range require very little pressure or resistance. Just brushing up against them turns them on. Two occasions this past week (3/2-7-17) while cleaning the stove top and having my hand over the burners I accidentaly brushed against the knob and the burner ignited and singed the hair on my wrist. On several times past two weeks I didn’t notice I had accidentally turned the knobs on until I smelled gas in the room. Since nothing can be done to fix this sensitivity problem I can only conclude this is a manufacturing defect. This problem grows more dangerous for the elderly who may become less cognizant of surroundings.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gas Range
I purchased a Frigidaire gas stove in November 2017. I recently called customer service to complain about the burner knobs turning freely without pushing in causing gas to escape without noticing. The knobs turn approximately 3/4” before the ticking begins to let you know you are lighting the burner. They sent an outside technician to look at the issue who confirmed this is a problem and that he has received this complaint many times. I then received a follow up call from the corporate office to inquire about how the service call was received. Both my husband & I expressed our concerns and were told there was nothing that could be done. They suggested we go to the dollar store and purchase child safely cap covers. This is not acceptable, I advise that this appliance is unsafe and could cause harm to my family and a hazard in my home.

The product, in the report: Built In Range and Oven
We have a Frigidaire gas range and oven, Model FPGS3085KFA. On the top of the range are four burner control knobs. The knobs are turned counterclockwise to turn the burner on. The first marked position is “Lite”. When placed there, the gas is flowing and an ignition spark occurs, creating a flame on the burner. However, the gas starts flowing a bit before the “Lite” or ignition point is reached. On two occasions, in October of last year and March 2nd of this year, the knob was unknowingly turned slightly during cleaning and or removing a utensil from another burner, but this turning of the knob was not noticed. The knob did not reach the “Lite” or ignition point, but unlit gas started to flow. It was not audible unless you placed your ear down close to the burner. Gas from the appliance filled the kitchen and other parts of the house on both occasions. Fortunately, we were able to ventilate the house before an accidental ignition / explosion took place.

Frigidaire mdel LGGF3043KFV, serial VF63601022 purchased end of Nov. 2016 and used sparingly since. On March 5 2016 put potatoes for baking in oven at 400 degrees. One hour later I put a pot of water on to boil and when I turned the knob for the burner I burnt my hand as the knob had heated. I called Frigidaire on 3/6 and explained what had occurred, their respond was it “was a stainless steel stove and the knobs are steel, the oven vents just below the knobs creating the overheating condition.” There is no warning in the manual or advertisement for this product. This is obviously a design flaw for which Frigidaire takes no responsibility, had this been one of my grandchildren or anyone’s child a serious burn could have resulted.

I contacted Frigidaire and they sent me a link to an oven repair place. This glass shattered for absolutely no reason. The glass is defective.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery Gas Range Stainless Steel
We purchased this Frigidaire Gas Range in March of 2012 and early on realized that it seemed like it was very easy to open the flow of gas by just brushing past or bumping the knobs for the burners. It has happened occasionally through the past few years but we always caught it and turned the knob off. On Friday January 20th my husband came home from work and found a strong smell of gas in our apartment and one of the stove knobs slightly turned on. He immediately opened doors and windows and thankfully had not turned on any switches upon arrival home. The gas smell cleared over the next couple of hours. I had been the last one to leave the house about 7 hours earlier and must have brushed past the stove as I left turning the knob so gas was accumulating in our home for 7 hours. It could have been deadly to my husband and to the family that lives in the apartment below us. The knobs on this range should not turn on and allow gas flow with such light pressure. I have read online that others have the same complaint about this range.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire 30 Inch Slide-In Gas Range Model No. FPGS3085PFA
Please see attached Incident Report along with pictures emails and receipts for new racks and Factor Catalog.
Around Mid April 2016 I self-cleaned the oven of my Frigidaire 30” Slide-Gas Range Model No.FPGS3085PFA. Let it be noted that the oven racks were removed from the oven prior to self-cleaning. After the self-cleaning I cooked a roast which was approximately 15 pounds and the oven rack in my range collapsed. It was extremely dangerous trying to get the roasting pan out of the hot oven and trying to get the rack out of the hot oven because it was wedged in. Frigidaire customer service was contacted after this incident by my husband, [REDACTED]. He explained that there must be a design flaw with the oven possibly during the cleaning that the walls of the oven expanded and the racks no longer fit. I have confirmation of that email if needed. Frigidaire’s response was that the range was out of warranty. The range is currently only 2 1/2 years old. At the time of the incident it was not quite 2 years old. They proposed that we purchase new racks at a 50 percent discount. My husband did not believe that this would solve the problem. Moving forward to December of 2016, I again was cooking a roast and again the rack collapsed, spilling gravy all over the oven and setting off the fire alarm. This was an extremely dangerous situation the rack which collapsed was lodged between the wall of the hot oven and the oven door would not open, it had to be forced open. After, this incident the next day I again self-cleaned the oven, again without the oven racks in the oven. When I went to put the oven racks back in the oven they did not fit at all. They collapsed without a pan or baking sheet on them. Again, I contacted Frigidaire customer service via email, explained the problem and their only solution was for us to purchase new racks at 30% discount. I chose to do this, the racks were specifically picked out of the Frigidaire Factory Parts Catalog. The order was reviewed and priced by customer service prior to me placing the order with the parts department. The racks came they did not fit. I contacted customer service suggesting that they send a service rep to my home to inspect the range with the new and old racks. If I was shome hot not putting them in the oven correctly I would pay for service, if the new and old racks were deemed not to fit then Frigidaire would pay for service and come up with a solution to this problem. Possibly, replacing the range. Frigidaire did not respond to this suggestion. They did however, contact me after I emailed them several times and now they are offering a different rack (I need two) which they claim fits my oven. I am not sure when I initially contacted Frigidaire customer service that this solution was not offered to me. At this time I want a full refund for the racks I purchased and/or want the racks that fit which I have not received yet or a new range, I also would like to mention that this range is discontinued, I am not sure if that matters. And also there are quite a few complaints I found only with other consumers having the same problem. Regards, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Gas stovetop range model #FGC36S8HBA...serial #NF01211513 Frigidaire. Glass top...black burners.
To Whom it May Concern, My husband contacted Frigidaire on October 9th, 2016 about our Frigidaire gas range top exploding on me during a meal preparation. Thankfully I was not seriously injured, which was a miracle, because I was standing right next to it. And it was nothing to do with the gas line, which also was a blessing. When my husband called there were no recalls on that model. I would not want this model to do this to anyone else. Because it easily could. Glass went over the entire kitchen. I have tried to communicate with Frigidaire thru various emails with no response. Thank You.

The product, in the report: Gas Range
Turned on a gas burner on the cook top. The flame was not as it should be. One other burner had a similar flame. The two rear burners appeared to be okay. The indicator lights for the lower warming drawer were on and couldn’t be shut off. We noticed a burning odor. Smoke was visible coming from control panel. Smoke was also noticeable in the oven. The smoke smelled like burning electrical wires. We disconnected the stove and moved it outside.

The product, in the report: this is a 24” built-in gas oven. it was virtually the only model available that fits the cabinet that has always held an oven in my 1959 house. Model number FFGW2415QS Serial number AF63901711
The heat venting out the top edge of the oven melted the adhesive on my laminate cabinet door above the oven, and made the door handle on the door too hot to touch. The service man from the appliance store where I bought the oven said he thinks the problem is that the venting is at the very top of the oven, and there is virtually no deflection of the heat coming out.

Product Information Model Number = LGGF3043KFV Serial Number = VF64520066 Purchase Date = 11/25/2016
We purchased a new stove by Frigidaire and discovered during the christmas holiday that the stainless knobs on the range get extremely hot(165 degrees) from heat in the oven. I contacted Frigidaire and their explanation is as follows:
“Regretfully, the heat from the oven causes the external parts to get hot while you’re using the oven. Your knobs are stainless steel and they will retain the heat. The owner’s guide suggests not leaving your children in the room while the appliance is operating to prevent any injuries. It also suggests to always use oven mitts when the oven is operation because the surfaces will be very hot.”
How does a person know this when they are making a purchase? there is no owner manual or warning on the stove in the store. This is a design issue and a consumer needs to be given safer knobs to protest them, children and elderly.

I purchased this Frigidaire gas range in June 2016. It was delivered in July. I love it. My 18 months old grandson can turn the gas knobs on. He does not have to push. This is dangerous. I have always owned a gas range and raised 3 sons. This never happened on any other range. Very disappointed

The product, in the report: stainless steel freestanding gas range
My new Frigidaire freestanding range model #BGGF3045RFC serial #VF63127409 has burner knobs which stick out too far in the front of the range and are too easily pressed and turned on. As a result of this, several times I have smelled a gas odor and upon checking found the controls turned enough to allow gas to escape the burners. The more alarming result happened when I reached to the back of the stove to clean and inadvertently turned on the front power burner and barely jumped back and turned off the burner before my clothing could catch on fire. This also happened twice when I was stirring a large pot simmering on the back burner--the front burner was turned on by my body as I reached over it and luckily, I was not burned.

The product, in the report: Gas Range & burners
This caller is reporting her gas range purchased from a retailer and delivered on August 23, 2016 in New Jersey. She had no problems with the range until October 10, 2016 when what sounded like smoke alarm sounded and at that time she turned around, saw the display and saw that the left side was showing error messages then showing ‘Cancel” however she could not stop it. She had contacted a technician regarding another issue and he advised her that the problem was the computer and that was why the alarm was sounding and the range was not performing as designed. This technician ordered the computer October 10, 2016 then returned to her home on October 21. 2016 and installed it. The caller is reporting that after this repair her stove knobs become very hot. She was advised by the manufacturer that she should not use the stove top and the oven at the same time. She is reporting this incident as a safety hazard due to burn potential. There are no injuries to report The caller also reports that the four knobs above the oven used to turn to control heat to the burners remain very hot when she is baking in the oven and cooking on the stove top. She contacted the manufacturer who she states advised her not to use the oven at the same time that she is using the burners. She spoke with the Georgia Consumer Protection Fraud Bureau November 9, 2016 and was advised that she should contact the CPSC.
Burner knobs registered between 145 degrees & 165 degrees. Manufacturer, Frigidaire, claims that is in their specs, despite that caller cannot hold fingers on knobs for more than a few seconds, when oven or broiler is in operation. They are not interested that caller can & did burn fingers.
And as to their “specs” who, as a consumer, has access to that information?

The product, in the report: Stainless Steel/Black Frigidaire 4 Burner Gas Range Model # SFGS3047LS Serial # ZF54224167
My daughter and family moved into newly refurbished home. Brand new inside and out and the kitchen is totally renovated with Frigidaire appliances. I was using the oven to bake a casserole for family meal time and noticed not only the interior oven reaching 350 to 400 degrees (whatever recipe called for) the complete exterior surfaces were also the SAME temperature; oven handle, knobs, outer vents, outer oven door, outer oven glass door, lower broiler drawer and handle. Did not realize the oven handle and door would be 350 to 400 degrees as well and went to remove item from oven and received second degree burns to my hand.
We called Frigidaire Customer Service to schedule service to address excessive exterior heat issue. We waited 10 days for a technician and was told, “Sorry, there is nothing we can do. This is how they are manufactured and I can’t fix it.” Called Frigidaire to address and their only solution is to continue sending service men to address the issue. I have filed claim with Risk Management as well.
Please be aware that this particular model is extremely dangerous to have if small children are around. Gate off the the oven if possible. This model will burn you if you are remotely close to oven door, handles or knobs.

The product, in the report: 36” white on white 5 burner gas drop in stovetop.
My family was cooking my son’s birthday dinner on our stovetop. We had 4 out of the 5 burners going with a grill pan and two other frying pans. Stove had just been turned off when we all heard a loud bang and shattering noises. The glass stovetop had shattered and started to cave in around all the burners. Also, bits of the glass were all over the countertop and the floor. Needless to say, we were all shocked that this could’ve and did happen. In all the years I have had this stove, I have never heard of any warnings that this can or may happen when using most of the burners, not even all of them. * I also have 7 photos to show what happened, but I am not able to send the files via this method of contact. Please let me know if there is another way that I can send these photos.
