The product, in the report: Electric range/oven
Caller stated that while cooking on his range the rear of the unit started to emit black smoke flames. He was using the range for about 15 mins when the incident occurred. He stated that he heard an electrical noise , then an odor of burnt plastic which was followed by smoke and a shot of flames. He immediately switched off the power to the unit from the circuit breaker. The flames dissipated after the power was switched off.
Caller stated that he had smelled a burning odor for a few seconds, intermittently a few days before the incident when the range was placed in use. The manufacturer was not contacted as yet. Caller feels that this range is a fire hazard and should be reported.

The product, in the report: Samsung 3.0 Cu.Ft. Electric Range Black
The Samsung 3.0 Cu. Ft. Electric Range Black was purchased in 2014. The range and oven had been used two to three times since it was purchased and it had not been used in months. A few days ago, I noticed the oven middle glass tempered door had cracked into pieces on the glass pane. The middle glass shattered without warning and for no apparent reason. Moreover, I am concerned about the unpredictability of glass exploding and the safety of the tempered inner and outer glass door and the harm it could cause to others whether the product is used or not used.

No one hurt Made Aug 19, 2016, sent to the company Sep 2, 2016, published by CPSC Sep 19, 2016
The product, in the report: Electric Range knobs
This caller is reporting her slide in smooth top electric range with knobs on front that turn on very easily if they are accidently gently bumped. She noticed it for the first time just a few weeks after purchase. August 19th, 2016 at two separate times the caller walked into her kitchen and found the range turned on and the knobs turned to an on position when the range had not been used.
The caller’s range is in a corner location and when she is working in that corner she can easily accidently bump the knobs.
She is reporting this as a fire and burn hazard.
She contacted the manufacturer and was advised by their representative that they hadn’t heard of this issue before. They sent a repair tech to the caller’s home who changed one knob because it was loose.
She has asked the repairman sent by the manufacturer what could be done to remove the hazard of accidently turning the range on when the knobs are bumped but was informed that the company couldn’t take responsibility for the consumer bumping the knobs.

No one hurt Made Aug 2, 2016, sent to the company Aug 10, 2016, published by CPSC Aug 24, 2016
The product, in the report: Samsung electric slide in range with ceramic cook top
Purchased a Sumsung electric range model number NES8F9500SS in November of 2015, had it delivered in April of 2016, and just got it installed in June 2016 (kitchen remodel), so we’ve only been using it for two months. Within a day of the installation, I walked by the range and noticed that a burner was on even though no one was cooking. I asked my spouse if she turned it on, then pieced together that she had heated a cup of water in the over-the-range microwave/hood vent unit. She tried opening the microwave again and found that because of her short stature, her midriff contacted the range knobs as she reached to place items in and out of the microwave, and that is what had turned on the range. Over the next few weeks the range top was inadvertently tired on several times, twice with a dishtowel while cleaning the counter, a couple more times while operating the microwave, and another time which we couldn’t decide how it turned on. Last week we had a gathering at our home for my wife’s work team. I had the entrees lined up in slow cookers beside the range top, and a glass serving platter with a serving spoon and stainless steel tongs sitting on the rant top. With five minutes of inviting folks to enjoy the buffet, I had a gentle ask why the range was on. He was right, the heating element under the serving platter was on and heating the platter. I turned off the knob, grabbed a dish towel and removed the heated serving spoon and tongs, then the glass serving platter exploded sending shards of glass up to twenty feet in all directions. Thankfully, no one was injured, even in the cleanup. No one had any idea how the heating element knob got turned on, but it is no muster. The range knobs are on the outboard of the unit and are so easily operated that there is no way that it meets the two movement safety requirement for residential stove knobs. The knobs can be easily operated by a person brushing up against them which poses a serious fire and safety risk. This unit should be recalled before some is injured or killed.

The product, in the report: 30” Electric range. Samsung model number FTQ353IWUX/XAA
I had 3 sleeping babies, 2 men working on our basement, and I was baking with my other child. I Turned my oven on to preheat it. Something “popped” and started on fire from the electrical pane on the back of the range. Samsung has given me the run around for over a week, saying someone will come fix it but without anyone every reaching out or showing up. Many other owners of this oven have the same complaint, I would like to work towards a recall of these ovens, due to the life threatening defect!!

The product, in the report: Samsung Stainless Steel Glass top Convection oven, with divider.
The oven was not in use, and had not been turned on for over 20 hours. We arrived home after an after school appointment to find the safety glass shattered. The safety glass in this oven is sandwiched between two other sheets of glass, so it is odd just the center price shattered.

The product, in the report: SAMSUNG ELECTRIC RANGE/OVEN NE595N0PBSR Smooth top electric range (induction cooktop) and convection oven. Stainless steel and black. Touch buttons.
I was preheating my electric Samsung oven (model NE595N0PBSR) using the convection setting at 400 degrees. After about two minutes there was a loud pop, then flames and smoke billowing from the unit. The heating element had caught fire and incinerated itself, reducing it to metal pellets on the oven floor. Luckily I was in the room and could deal with it though the heat singed my eyelashes (it was still that hot even after the flame was out). I am told the heating element can be replaced but I am worried about the safety of my family and my property with this appliance in the house. The unit is not new, but it is not even three years old and has been kept clean and in good repair.

The product, in the report: I am trying to prevent injury to myself and my family. My daughter has been through enough and I am trying to find a doctor that will actually listen and make her better. I am told by a Samsung Technician not to use the self cleaning feature of this Model Stove/oven and that is enough for me not to try it to prevent from harming anyone in my family or burning down my house or what has happened to other consumers already posted on the internet. My daughter is bedridden, was exposed to mold and more, she is debilitated, can’t working and is bedridden. Reading other consumers nightmares caused me to call Samsung and HHGREGG and both give me the run around. No solution offered and that has been going on since last year I think before July.
I bought a Samsung dbl. Oven smooth top stove at HHGREGG in Columbia 3/22/15. NE58F9710WS and learned quickly it overheats. Smooth top and self cleaning oven which I am told not to use but to use EASY Off Instead by the Samsung technician, not once but twice. Samsung called them after I finally got through to Samsung. A new stove almost $2,500 with Installation that was sold as self cleaning is NOT. 1st the pot stuck to the cook top it gets too got. It happened again after it was replaced at our expense, Samsung would not honor the warranty we purchased. I have repeatedly called HHGREGG and Samsung and get the run around. The technician said Samsung has not figured out how to control the temperature. Oven locks up in self cleaning mode and they have to come and fix it. TO not use it. He told me 2x. Samsung kept sending a call to them except they won’t come to the house because they know the problem. I am not sure when I started calling but I started writing in July when I did not get anywhere. Cooktop heats up and 2 pots stuck to it. I found many complaints online with the same problem. They say it locked up, explodes, caught on fire and burned a house down. I have a bedridden daughter living with us that I take care of 24/7/365 she was exposed to mold and carbon monoxide in her house, close to the kitchen, and I am not willing to risk her life or cause her more harm. I asked for this stove to be exchanged soon after purchase and for nothing but the run around, still do. How can I get that stove replaced because right now I can only use the cook top and very carefully. It seems Samsung has a heat control issue with this model. Thank you. I need your help as they are looking the other way and ignore me, Samsung and HHGREGG at Harbison Blvd, In Columbia SC 29212. They sold me a stove that was supposed to self clean but I am told not to use that feature. That is false advertisements and the stove is defective. [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: SAMSUNG RANGE GLASS TOP SELF CLEANING
Samsung kitchen range Model #FTQ3531WuWxAA. On 12/24/15, the stove went of fire. The fire started inside the controls at the top of the stove. I pulled the stove away from the wall and unplugged it. If I hadn’t been home my house would have burned down. My wife was baking potatoes at the time. There was a loud explosion. The stove was purchased at Lowes on 1/4/2012. Samsung sent a repairperson to check the stove. He commented that he had not ever seen stove burn like this one. I went out and bought a stove on the same date (12/24/15). Samsung refused to compensale me for the stove. There were no injuries, only a little smoke damage to kitchen wall. Note: There are similar complaints in the REVIEW section of the Samsung website.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range model #NE58F9500SS: serial #J1967DDG101859H
purchased Samsung Electric Range model #NE58F9500SS: serial #J1967DDG101859H through Home Depot. Oven was first used in November 2015 Use of oven feature results in a high temperature (over 300 degrees) transfer to the entire contents of the lower pan storage drawer as well as the drawer itself. Side temperatures when the oven is in use are over 120 degrees. Contact with the drawer during oven use can cause sever burns and has the possibility of causing fire damage. Danger to small children is also obvious. Temperatures were measured and reported to Samsung by Quality Appliance Services acting as their agent. Transaction # 4134157957 Quality Appliance Services reported their findings to Samsung, who stated that the temperature levels are “normal”.

No one hurt Made Jan 16, 2016, sent to the company Jan 28, 2016, published by CPSC Feb 12, 2016
The product, in the report: Stainless Steel Electric Range
On January 3rd my husband turned on the appliance setting it to broil. Shortly after we heard a loud buzzing sound and looked to see sparks, flame and smoke inside the oven. My husband went to the breaker box and cut the power to the range from there. Smoke was also pouring from the top of the range around the panel where you set the temperature. I immediately called hhGregg (the retailer where I purchased the range) and was instructed that the product was under the Samsung 1 year warranty. I called Samsung who (after much conversation and multiple calls) dispatched 2 repair technicians from 2 different vendors who both determined that the boil element inside the oven exploded causing damage to the inner frame and interior.
My concerns are that this range was brand new having been purchased on July 3, 2015. This appliance was used strictly at home for the purpose of cooking for a small family ( 2 adults and 1 child). It had little wear at all. Yet the boil element exploded. I am worried that had my husband, my 3 year old and/or I had been near or touching the appliance at the moment that there was an electrical explosion we could have been seriously hurt. I also am not convinced this could not have happened if the oven had been off. This exploding element could have easily started a fire in my home or severely burned someone using the oven.
It took 11 days for Samsung to eventually agree eventually to replace the range but I must say that their slow response and lackadaisical attitude about the entire event has caused me great concern. There was no sense of urgency in investigating the issue or resolving the matter. I would think they’d want to get the range back to their manufacturer immediately to investigate what caused the element to explode. If their reaction is any indication of how they build their appliances, I have grave concerns for other consumers who have a Samsung electric range (or God forbid gas range) in their home.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric slide in range model number: NE58H9950WS.
We sustained injuries from the use of a new kitchen appliance professionally installed by the retailer: Samsung electric slide in range model number: NE58H9950WS. The food poisoning injuries were due to under cooked food caused by the oven’s failure to timely and properly reach cooking temperature set at 375 degrees. When food was placed in an empty pre-heated oven set at 375 degrees the result was a 100 degree drop in the oven’s internal temperature. A calibrated thermometer was utilized to discover the defect. The defective oven does not recover to cooking set point temperature of 375 degrees until after 30 minutes which is not normal. The result was grossly under cooked food which is a dangerous hazard. When adhering to proper cooking technique, which we did, there is no way a consumer can predict when a meal is fully cooked, can be removed from the oven and safely eaten without fear of injury due to under cooked food due to the unpredictable cooking design of this oven. Samsung recommended to raise the oven temperature calibration which we did. This resulted in much higher cooking temperature which incinerated a meal and did not remedy the defective design of plunging temperature along with failure to properly raise the temperature to set point when raw food is placed in a pre heated oven. Altering the set point of the oven did not fix the problem due to inherent defective and poor design. This model should be immediately recalled due to safety, health concerns and potential serious injury to the public.

While pre-heating my Samsung electric range oven I noticed smoke coming out of the back of the appliance. I canceled the oven and pulled it away from the wall. I saw a flame in the back of the display panel. I was able to extinguish the fire. This range is only 1 1/2 old. I purchased the appliance new 2 1/2 years ago from Lowe’s and it was already replaced once in the first year for a faulty glass top. Samsung refused to pay for the part since it was out of the 1 year warranty time frame. A repair technician diagnosed the problem as a faulty connection on the main control board.

The product, in the report: Samsung model number NE58F9500SS. Samsung - 30 “ Self-Cleaning Slide-In Electric Convection Range - Stainless Steel/Black.
Purchased a Samsung 30 inch self-Cleaning Slide-In Electric Convection Range. The control knobs are easily accidentally activated “on” to heat the glass burners. This is a fire hazard and a personal injury hazard to people and pets. After reading other consumers complain of this problem I thought only and idiot would have something like accidentally turning on a stove top happen to them. We bought the stove. Then it happened to us 3 times in two days. Each incident involved the cooktop being covered with protective fabric while working around the oven. Each time the burners became accidentally activated “on” without the victim’s knowledge. The first time a towel was placed over the glass cook top while a handyman was installing an over the range microwave. Although the oven door was locked, a front burner knob was accidentally turned on by the handyman bumping into it and noticed when the towel was scorched and the handyman felt the heat of the scorched towel. Fortunately, he was not burned because the towel protected his hand. My husband and I needed to remove the microwave over the stove (to fix the air vent.) We had covered the glass cook top with a polyester pillow to protect it from possible damage if the microwave were accidentally dropped. We accidentally turned the stove on and didn’t realize it until we smelled the pillow smoking. Fortunately, we were right near the burning pillow and removed it from the cook top before it could catch fire. The polyester pillow melted, smoking up the house with fumes and leaving a hard, melted plastic mess on the glass cook top. The stove was accidentally turned on again while re-installing the microwave over the range again. The problem is that the cook top knobs jet forward on the front of the stove, making them easy to accidentally bump into and also making them attractive and accessible for a small child to play with. A child could easily start a fire or get burned. Adults working near the stove can accidentally activate the burners, starting a fire or getting burned themselves. This product is unsafe because the knobs can be easily accidentally activated “on”. Please ask Samsung to recall the product and fix the problem before someone really gets burned or their home burns down.

The product, in the report: Samsung Convection smooth top range Model NE595ROABSR/AA
A couple of minutes after turning on the broiler of our Samsung range, flames were coming out of the oven. Green smoke poured out, and when my husband opened the oven, he saw part of the broiler element had completely melted away and was dripping down into the oven.
This oven was purchased early November 2013, and not put to use until late November of that year, making our oven less than 2 years old. When the oven was 6 months old, we turned on the oven to hear a loud pop and the oven stopped working. Repairmen said this was not uncommon, and that a faulty connection had shorted out the circuit board of the oven, or something like that.
For an oven to stop working, even within 2 years, should warrant attention from the company. But for flames to be shooting out of the oven for no apparent reason, this is a consumer hazard needing definite attention. A google search reveals multiple similar complaints from Samsung ovens.
Regardless of Samsung’s response to me, I feel this issue requires further examination.

The product, in the report: samsung freestanding electric range modle FE710DRS
The Samsung freestanding range model number FE710DRS has temperature indicator printed on the stove top back panel for each burner such as lo 1,2,3,-9, hi. these numbers will wipe off of the stainless steel with only soapy water during cleaning which leaves the consumer guessing as to what temperature is set when cooking. further, you are unable to tell if the stove is off or turned on medium as the dial points up and down as to off at the top and medium at the bottom and the hot stove top indicator light stays on until the stove top is cooled off, several minutes (about 15-20 minutes). When you think its off and you leave a pot/or pan on the burner its still on and results in a grease fire, water boiling over and onto the stovetop and floor. the potential for burning a person or burning a house full of children down extremely likely. Especially if cooking late at night.
This is a safety issue as when you think the stove is on low its actually on high which has resulted in grease fires, burnt food and smoke. This range was purchased at Lowes in September 2014.
Someone is going to die as a result of this defect and this should be addressed immediately as all the ranges that Samsung produced that are stainless steel seem to have this problem.
Lets just hope a house full of children do not die because mother had to warm a bottle for baby [REDACTED] at 2:00 A.M. and thought she turned off the stove but actually turned it on high and went back to bed

We were using our Samsung electric range to cook pizza on a 425-degree setting. With no warning, there was a “pop” sound and flames appeared coming from behind the range. I used a fire extinguisher to smother the flames, and after it was out I contacted the manufacturer. They scheduled a service call, but the technician said I would have to pay for the parts. He disassembled the range, and it was clear that it was an electrical fire.

On 8/28/15, while using the oven on my Samsung FTQ3531WUX/XAA electric range, I heard a loud pop and had flames shooting up about 18” from the back of the stove. Had I not been within 5’ of the range, I have no doubt that my house would have burned. There were 6 people in the house at the time, including a 3y/o and 8 mo. child.

I had just preheated oven to 400 degrees, put frozen french fries in to bake. they had only been in for about 8 minutes. I was at the sink in kitchen heard bunch of loud popping looked over at oven and saw sparks coming out from top behind the display clock area then lots of black smoke started pour out of back of oven husband ran over and went to shut off oven and grab fire extinguisher (while smoke alarms were going off) then breaker tripped and oven shut off. we pulled oven out from wall and luckily breaker tripped and shut the oven off so we did not have to use the fire extinguisher and no one was hurt and house did not burn but the oven is ruined. samsung has been awful to deal with hard to get a hold of. been on hold so many times and has taken over 2 weeks just to get someone out here to look at. Samsung said they would only cover the cost of labor on this issue which is clearly a manufacture defect. samsung authorized service person came out and said this would be a $350-400 repair (parts only) samsung said they would cover labor which is around $165 I believe this is a major safety concern if I had been outside during this it could have started a house fire. please look into this as samsung clearly doesn’t care.

Caller stated that the electric range relay had a failure that caused a fire. Caller stated that while she was using the oven to cook her dinner at 350 degrees she heard a popping sound, she then noticed that there were high flames emitting from the rear of the oven. The oven was in use for about 10 mins when the incident occurred. Caller stated that she powered off the oven which contained the flames, she then switched off the circuit breaker.
(7/22) The manufacturer was contacted and she was informed that there was no report on any incident for her model, although she had read many reviews on her range with the same problems. She was informed that someone would be contacting her.
Caller feels that this oven is a fire hazard and should be reported.
The submitter added Samsung has unfortunately been very difficult to work with regarding this incident.

The product, in the report: Convection oven smooth cook top
My daughter was pre heating the oven when it made a loud pop. Immediately there was a sparking and flickering at the back of the stove control panel. It then flamed up and scorched the back of the stove and wall. I had her turn off the breaker to the stove on the electrical panel for the house. Terrible smell of burnt plastic that lingered for days. I am so glad that this did not start a house fire. If the oven had been turned on to use, and I or my daughter had stepped out to sit on the patio or work in the yard it could have burned down our house. I have an extended warranty on the oven and called for a repair. The repairman said the wiring was all cracked and the cracked wiring caused an arc which started the electrical fire in the control panel. That was 5 months ago. Now the convection oven fan is making a loud noise when in use and will shut off when the oven temp reaches 300 degrees. So I decided to not use that oven feature and just use the non-convection feature. The convection fans turn on, and they never have before when using the non- convection. I believe the non-convection feature is not working. Hopefully not from cracked wiring again. I am going to for repair on this tomorrow and have the wiring looked at again. This oven needs to be recalled before someone gets killed from it starting a house fire. I have put things in the oven to cook before on lower temperatures to slow cook and gone outside to work or run a quick errand. This could be catastrophic! Please recall. I have searched the Internet and so many people with this, and similar Samsung models have had the same problem.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric stove model NE58F9710WS
I purchased a Samsung stove model NE58F9710WS on may 1 2015. This is a slide in model stove with the burner knobs at the front. On no fewer than 8 occasions the burners have been turned on inadvertently when the knobs are leaned on. On the first occasion, I was getting ready to walk out the door when I smelled something and came back to find my electric tea kettle melting and black smoke billowing out. Admittedly it is not a great habit but for 4 decades, I have left my electric kettle sitting on the stove to save counter space and have only ruined one kettle when I stupidly turned on the wrong element. This time, I did not turn the stove on at all. When I retraced my steps, I realized the element had turned on when I was reaching over the stove to put something in the cupboard above the stove. I have also leaned on the knob reaching a pot on the back burner. My husband has also leaned on the knobs and between us we can count 8 instances where the burner turned itself on. Fortunately one or the other of us has noticed before anything too serious has occurred. The knobs need to be pushed in before they will turn but they require very little effort to push and only need to be pushed in about 1 millimeter in order to turn the knob. I am just over 5 feet tall and under 100 pounds so no great weight is pushing on he knobs. Because of my height, I often have to reach above or behind the stove ..... to clean the backsplash for example. I have owned other stoves with knobs situated at the front and have never encountered this problem.

The product, in the report: Samsung product #NE58F9500SS/AA. Electric kitchen range with convection oven and smoothtop burners. Stainless steel.
I owned a Samsung kitchen range, model #NE58F9500SS/AA. In December 2014, I reported to Samsung that it had a defective fan that was making a grinding violent noise. Samsung sent a technician who, over the course of seven visits, incidentally discovered that the range had melted my brand-new kitchen cabinet. The technician confirming, using an infrared thermometer, that the right-hand side of the range’s cavity was emitting a significant heat leak. He discovered the heat coming from the cavity — 233 degrees — was 39 degrees higher than the maximum temperature stated by Samsung tech support (194 degrees).
[REDACTED]
Samsung resisted replacing my unit or issuing me a refund until last month, dragging this process on to five months total. Samsung has since removed the unit and paid for the damages done to my kitchen (about $2000). I have photographic evidence of this defect.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range, Model # NE58F9710WS, SErial # J1927DCFA00500T, Stainless Steel
On January 9, 2015, I bought a Samsung Electric Range, Model # NE58F9710WS, Serial # J1927DCFA00500T from Best Buy, Norwalk, CT.
Unfortunately, this product appears to be very dangerous. I would give this range an good/excellent rating if I wasn’t having such a problem with the stovetop controls. Almost every time I am cooking or using the microwave which is installed above the stove, I accidentally turn on a burner by leaning into one of the knobs on the front of the range. On many occasions, I have turned around to smell or feel the heat of the burner, which I unknowingly turned on. I am 5’ 5” tall and when using the microwave above the stove, the same thing happens, I’ve accidentally pressed into a control know and a stovetop burner is accidentally turned on. Also, when wiping the front panel or cleaning the stove, it is easy to turn on the warming drawer at the bottom of the stove. Again, very dangerous. I have almost caused a fire on 2 occasions with this range. I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem. I have also emailed Samsung about this problem. Please contact me at the above email address or my cell phone [REDACTED].

We purchased a Samsung slide in range several months ago. model#NE58F9500SS On several occasions we have turned the burners on by simply brushing up against them. The knobs are in such a position that makes it far to easy for this to happen. They also turn too easily. We have always noticed and were able to turn them off before anyone got burned. However yesterday we had someone working on our backsplash and had placed a towel on the stove top to protect it. He had placed his drill case on top of the towel. As he was working the burner turned on and by the time he noticed what was happening, the drill case had melted through and when he lifted it up the towel burst into flames. He got out the fire but had he not acted quickly it could have been much worse. I feel the design of the control panel is poor and this product is unsafe.

The product, in the report: SAMSUNG Range
I set my range to preheat. About 2-4 minutes into the preheat I heard a loud pop or crack coming from the location of the range. When I went to investigate I seen an orange glow coming from behind the stove and the control panel lights flickered for a few seconds. I then realized the stove was on fire internally. I pulled the stove out quickly and pulled the electrical cord out from the wall. I seen flames inside an attempted to put them out. They finally went out (Thankfully) so the entire damage was contained behind the control panel and internally behind all metal pieces. There was no indication of any issues or problems prior to this incident and this stove had been used every day since purchase without incident. Nothing was on or inside the stove at the time of incident.

The product, in the report: Electric Range
This caller is reporting her smooth top electric range, purchased around April 2014 and from the very first day she very lightly brushed against the knobs on the front of the range and the burners came on. Consumer noted range was not returned. This continued until problem fixed during the end of August by customer.
There were no injuries, cover on the stove top was burned.
The caller contacted the manufacturer around the beginning of July 2014.
Consumer also noted photos show burners protrude past oven door handle. She stated screen is usually blank. She also stated nudging panel turned on a heating unit that destroyed a stove cover and could have set fire to the house had she not detected it by chance.
Consumer indicated her husband has corrected the problem by installing a steel bar and attaching it to the range in front of the burner knobs (see photo). They can no long come on by accident.
Consumer suggested burners should be recessed or oven door handle protrude 3” to avoid having your body touch the stove. She also noted touching the panel screen lightly should not turn on a burner especially if you can’t see the symbols. Consumer stated maybe a buzzer to alert you that a burner came on or make burners harder to turn.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range / NE58F8710WS
On the evening of 6/14/14, my husband set our barely 6 month old Samsung electric range to self clean at the minimum allowable amount time permitted, of 3 hours. It was during this time that the fumes were so extreme to cause burning eyes and headaches even after having the doors and windows open and fans on full blast. It wasn’t until 4/17/14 when we went to use the range again for this first time since cleaning, that we noticed both cabinets and drawers on either side of the oven were damaged. The white laminate had peeled and melted away from the wood and in one place started to turn brown and looked as if it was getting ready to burn and start a fire.
After calling Samsung on 6/17/14 @ 7:31 pm and telling them what had happened for 41 minutes, I was instructed to unplug the unit.
On 6/18/14, I was sent an email from Samsung requesting a professional estimate from a licensed contractor for the damage as well pictures of the damage. I was able to provide pictures via email reply and was waiting for a licensed cabinet repair person to call me back. After no call backs, I realized, no one repairs cabinets, they replace them...
On 6/20/14, Samsung had sent a technician out to the house by the name of [REDACTED], from Complete Appliance Service, Inc in Cleveland, OH. Upon his arrival, [REDACTED] stated that he was instructed to only take pictures and send them in to Samsung. He even called his office in my presence to verify his instructions. During his picture taking, [REDACTED] said that just by looking at it you couldn’t see anything that would suggest a bad seal and that he would have to take the entire range apart to see if maybe he could tell what happened. Then he left... Later that evening, the Home Depot technician that I contacted, came over to provide an estimate on the cabinets. Because the cabinets are 13 years old, the style of doors is no longer available and therefore, all the doors and cabinets need to be replaced. However, this does not take into account that the existing cabinets, which are also white, may not match exactly the new doors and drawers. Another dilemma...
So.... after being told to unplug the range and repeated attempts calling Samsung to get this faulty range removed from my house and a refund issued, nothing else has happened. Executive Customer Relations stating that they can’t remove the unit until a technician has serviced the unit. Hello??? What am I supposed to do in the interim? Use the range they told me to unplug for fear of burning down my house and everyone in it, continue to eat out or cook in the microwave (yuck)? Circles of nonsense, that’s all Samsung has been able to effectively provide me with in this situation...
6/24/14 3:37 pm, received a call from Samsung’s insurance carrier regarding the Home Depot estimate I submitted stating that until they have been provided a reason from a service technician regarding the problem with the range, they cannot move forward with my claim (more circles).
6/24/14 4:02 pm. received a voicemail from Complete Appliance Service, Inc., [REDACTED] quoted after submitting the photos, Samsung finally got back to them stating that within the User Manual it sates “Caution, caution, this range has been designed to comply for maximum allowable wood cabinet temperature rating of 194 degrees Fahrenheit etc... I have searched the user manual 3 times and found no such verbiage even resembling this. I could not even locate a temperature reference anywhere let alone cabinets. To sum up the voicemail, [REDACTED] said it is between Samsung and us at this point.
So now, I have a faulty range that could overheat and/or cause serious injury at the next use and Samsung stated to unplug and provided no follow up. I will start calling again tomorrow...

I purhased a Model# NE58F9500SS 5.8 cu ft. slide in electric range made by Samsung from The Home Depot in January 2014. It has a glass top. On several occasions either my husband or I have accidentally turned on a burner when leaning against the oven. Luckily, we have not had anything on top of the burner when it was started. However, I am fearful that this could happen and result in a fire. This oven was a replacement for another glass top oven which we had for almost 20 years. It is normal for us to set the mail and/or other items on the stove top when it is not in use. I am reporting this today because my husband accidentally turned on a burner again.

I was baking tater tots in my Samsung Electric Range (bought 12/28/2010) model # FE-R300SX/XAA when I heard a loud pop and saw flames shooting out of the back of the range. Thankfully I saw it right away. Quickly I turned off the oven and my husband ran and turned the power off to the house. The whole house smelled like an electrical fire. The circuit board panel on the back of the range had caught fire. I called Samsung, and they took my report and said they would call me back in 1 to 2 business days.

The product, in the report: Electric Oven / Range
Samsung Convention Oven FTQ353IWUX manufactured in May 2009. For several months, the bake feature of the oven has not been working properly - the oven is unable to reach and hold temperature. Some online posts had commented about wires burning off, so before I spent money on parts, I decided to unplug the oven and remove the back cover to see if I noticed anything amiss. Sure enough, one wire (the red wire) to the bottom heating element was burned off at the connector to the heating element. The tip of the wire and the insulation for about 2” was black and the wire was dangling in free space. Obviously, this is why the bottom heater element is not getting hot. Upon checking the other wire (yellow wire), it too shows signs of heat exposure (insulation slightly melted and rigid). Similarly, the wires (red and brown) to the top heating element show the same signs - partially melted insulation, wires very stiff near the connectors to the heating element. I am very concerned that this is a serious fire and/or electrical shock hazard. I could easily put new connectors on and replace the wires, but this should not have happened in the first place and I am concerned that it could happen again. If I were to replace the wires, I would use a higher temperature insulated wire (the wires that burned off appear to be standard low temperature plastic insulation), but I am think that for my and my family’s safety, I am simply going to buy a new oven (of a different brand). Surely I am not the only one to experience this problem, and you can find online postings, with photos, of the same problem. This oven needs to be recalled.

08/12/2012- The consumer stated that she was cooking on the range and using the oven for about an hour. When she tried to turn off the left front side burner, she received an electric shock from the range’s knob. Immediately after, she heard a loud sound that came from the range, the range and the entire house’s electricity powered down.
08/15/2012-The consumer contacted the manufacturer and they scheduled a technician (free of charge) to inspect the range. The technician inspected the range (date not provided) and informed the consumer that he did not see any defects with the range and that it was safe to use.
12/17/2013- The consumer was cooking on the range using only the left front side burner for about 10 minutes. When the consumer tried to turn the burner off, she received an electric shock from the knob. Immediately after she heard a loud sound and the range powered down. The consumer’s husband noticed that the range had shorted the circuit breaker. The consumer contacted the manufacturer and they scheduled a technician to inspect the range.

The product, in the report: induction range
We originally purchased a Samsung Induction Range model FTQ307NWGX on 11/8/2009 from BestBuy in Massachusetts. That particular stove and two others were replaced under warranty or extended warranty for a variety of reasons (first unit: electrical malfunction; second unit: door could not be closed with oven racks in place; third unit: large burner would turn itself off spontaneously during cooking). The fourth replacement FTQ307NWGX was installed in our kitchen on 4/2/2012. It was operating normally until 10/10/2013. On 1 0/10/2013 I was cooking an omelet. I had used the largest ring to soften onions and peppers in a nonstick pan on a medium heat (5) for approximately 8 minutes, then turned the induction stove top off, removed the pan and turned away from the stove to prepare the eggs, when the stovetop exploded with a deadening sound just a foot from my ear. The stovetop over a different burner zone (ie not the one I had been using to cook) had literally exploded, with the glass shattering and spraying glass shards flung all over. Obviously the stove top had a catastrophic failure. As the stove was not on at the time and had last been used a few minutes earlier, it appears to be something internal that caused the cooktop to shatter. There was no foreign object that fell on to the stove nor did the glass surface have any scratches or wear or damage. I have photos of the stove taken immediately after the incident that I can submit if desired. We have not used the stove since. The area that did explode had not been used for at least 24 hours before the incident. I have reported the incident to the manufacturer (Samsung). Samsung sent its repair subcontractor to evaluate the damage. They agreed that this was not due to any misuse of the stove. They have offered to “repair” the unit. Needless to say I have no desire to have a repaired or replaced Samsung induction stove in my house after this incident, given the seriously injury that such an explosion could inflict. Samsung is not pursuing this explosion to understand the cause of the catastophic failure and I do not think that most consumers are aware that there is any risk of explosion when using the induction range as it was designed to be used. We were not. Any assistance you could provide in ensuring that the company takes this seriously and that a recall , if appropriate, is instituted, as well as consumers made aware of the risk would be greatly appreciated.

Although I have a service contract on the oven, I am extremely concerned for my safety. This incident could have occurred during the overnight or while were were just not in the house resulting in catastrophic and/or deadly results.
I do not know how common an occurrance this is with this product but once would appear to be too many.

The product, in the report: Stn Stl 5 Burner range. Convection oven
I turn on my range to Broil to heat up before I put in my food. There is a vent that leads from the oven to the range top just under the electronic control panel. That part of the range gets very, very hot. The control panel which operates the range also gets very hot. This is my second range and they both do the same thing. I called the service dept on the first range and the tech took the temperature coming out of the vent and it was approx 186 deg F. This is before the oven even got started. I had asked for a replacement range and Samsung replaced the first range with an identical range the second time. I used the new range again and the same thing happens. There is a book that comes with the range and in that booklet it says that the vent can become warm. That’s WARM not HOT. I have burnt my hand and since this is the second time this has happened I think that there is something the matter with the design of the range. Please keep in mind that this happens when I either bake or broil with this range. I am afraid that after a while that the electronics will eventurally fry and the range will nolonger be any good. But,safety is the first thing that needs to be taken care of The model number again is FX510BGS

The product, in the report: Electric Smoothtop Range Attachment 1 -copy of service repair form Attachment 2 - Photo of burnt parts Photo shows: Connector A - for left rear single (small) burner. In addition to being blackened, this connector had ‘burn damage’ on the outside corner. This left rear burner was not working; was the reason for the service call. Connector B - for right rear single (small) burner. This connector was blacked but did not have physical damage. This right rear burner was working on the date of the service call, but connector B was also removed by service tech when determined it too would soon fail. Note: 1. These burnt parts are identified by the service repair company as a “indefinite switch”. I see them as a “connector”. 2. Part # is: SMG D6-44-01001A, “indefinite switch” 3. I have bothe burnt connector (indefinite switch).
Caller is reporting findings of tech after service call May 19th, 2012 to inspect his electric glass top range purchased November 30th, 2009 due to non working back burner.
When he removed the left back panel he discovered that there was a connection that was “fried” and causing the burner not to work.
He then inspected the connection to the right back burner which was working but he noted that the wiring to this burner was in the process of becoming “fried”.
Service Tech disconnected both back burners.
Caller states that he believes that these ranges are being manufactured without the ability to hold the voltage.
the gauge of the wire and the quality of the connecter cannot carry the load of the range.
He is reporting as a safety issue due to a potential fire hazard or shock hazard.
He has not contacted the manufacturer but does intend to contact them.
He would ask that his range be upgraded to a more secure range with better quality of wire and connector.
At the very least he would ask for reimbursement amount of present repair and an upgrade of wire and connector to more durable and dependable grade.
He states that with this range and the quality of wire and connector he believes that he would be continuously making these repairs as well as trying to head off safety issues.

The product, in the report: Samsung convection range model # FTQ387LWGX
In the summer of 2010 I purchased a Samsung convection range, model FTQ387LWGX. In August (or may be Sept ) of 2011 while cooking on the stove I noticed an electrical burning odor and smoke coming from the back of the range and then one of the burners stopped working. I cantacted Samsung and a technician came and found that the wires to the control knob had burned through. He replaced them. Yesterday 12/27., The same thing happened with the same knob and burner. I am VERY concerned that this issue will cause a fire or electrcal shock and am concerned that others with this same range may experience the same problem. Below is the email I sent to SAMSUNG a few minutes ago.
on 9/19/10 I purchased the above range serial # 18897DDSA00403N with a twelve month warranty plus the addition3 or 4 months. Last summer (August, I believe) I experienced an electrical burning odor and smoke emanating from the back of the range and then the front right burner would not work. . After finally figuring out how to contact Samsung, a technician came and said the issue was behind the back control panel, that wires had burned through to the knob. The actual burner was ok, it was the wiring to the control knob. It took him about 5 minutes to repair and worked fine until yesterday when apparently the SAME THING HAPPENED. Smoke and burning electrical odor from the back and the SAME burner is now out. I am EXTREMELY concerned, not about the inconvenience, but the saftey of the appliance. I have a 15 yr old as well as a handicapped 18 yr old home alone in the afternoons and have now told them “DO NOT USE THIS STOVE”, only I will use it . I am concerned about the potential for a house fire or electrical shock. I believe there is a design flaw or inferior component at work here. Never have I owned a range that required service twice in its lifetime let alone twice in less than 18 months, and for FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I believe that you should, at your expense, come and do a complete check of this stove and reassure me that it is, in fact, safe to use. I am keeping a record of this correspondence as proof that you have been notified of this problem, should there be any disaster with this stove. I am also forwarding this to the Consumer Products Saftey” commission as I am concerned for anyone else who may have purchased this item. Please respond ASAP.
