The product, in the report: Samsung slide in stove/oven. Glass top ,
Last night, we just sat down to eat dinner. We used the Samsung oven and our air fryer to make dinner, not the stove. . We smelled smoke and got up to find the source. The pot holders were in flames they had a metal pan sitting on them with food. The air fryer basket with food was sitting on edge of stove and the corner was melted on it. We picked the pot holders up and threw them in sink with water. Smoke was choking us we opened doors and windows. The glass top on the stove has the print of the hot pad on it. Somehow someone bumped the knob getting their food and the burner came on without us knowing. The pot holders were burnt black and one fell apart .

The product, in the report: slide-in electric range
The control knobs on this stove stick out to a point that are very easy to come into contact with. A sight brush against the knob causes it to turn on. The closest heat level to the Off position is the hottest. Since purchasing it in March 2019 we have had numerous accidental turn-ons. It was purchased at the Kahului, HI Costco store. I read several owner comments who complained about the controls. But the rating was very high. I have reported this problem to Costco, I sent a complaint to Samsung appliance division and I checked their factory parts department to see if they had recessed knobs to fit my stove; they did not. My personal feeling is the knobs are designer overkill. They look nice but are impractical and unsafe. The reason I am sending this complaint is that tonight was the last straw. While preparing the evening meal one knob was brushed and burned part of the meal on the stove. I’m very surprised that children don’t cause the burners to turn on. My email is [REDACTED] Thank you [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Smoothtop, electric range, with oven
When one is cooking something or leaning against the stove, there is the potential to touch the control knobs and turn the range burners on.
The control knobs are in the front of the stove and are super sensitive. The consumer has leaned against the stove while cooking or cleaning the range and unknowingly found the burners on.
The consumer also had relatives in her home on different occasions, who boiled water and experienced the same problem. The oven also goes on if the stove is touched in that area.
No one has been injured and the range does not appear to be included in a recall.

I purchased a Samsung range/oven in 2016. In May of 2020 we were preheating the oven and heard a snap noise and saw a fire coming from the instrument panel above the range. The next day I took off the back cover and the motherboard had a connection that was burned.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range.
I had just made some bread and taken it out of the oven when flames started coming out of the back of the stove. I pulled it away from the wall attempting to prevent my home from catching on fire. There was the smell of an electrical fire. After unplugging it and looking through the scorched vent behind the control panel it appears the motherboard caught fire. I’ve seen many posts online from other users of this Samsung stove with the same issue. The model number is NE59J7630SG/AA. I’ve had the device 3 1/2 years so with that short amount of life and the fact it could have set my home on fire it should be recalled.

The product, in the report: Samsung Double Oven Slide In Electric range.
Range knobs are hyper sensitive. Turns on at the slightest touch. The only solution is to remove the knobs when not in use. This is not satisfactory.
The digital oven controls have to be locked when not in use so that the warming drawer does not turn on when you walk past.
I have repeatedly reported this to Samsung who refuse to acknowledge that this is a problem.

In December of 2015 I purchased a Samsung Electric Glass top Range from [REDACTED] Home Depot. In February 2020 The Right front burner Seemed to be faulty until finally Burning out. We attempted to contact the service center at the Home Depot with a receipt and Services plan good until December 2021, but was told we did not have the required receipt and would have to acquire that prior to activating warranty. I then went to the store in [REDACTED] store to produce the correct receipt and was told it would have to be the store of purchase. All other area’s of the Range oven and three other burners worked appropriately. Today while using the Oven and the Left front burner the control panel Popped very loudly and sparked and ignite with flames reaching two feet. Able to pull the range from the wall and turn off the breakers and put out the fire with an NABC fire extinguisher. The fire was hot and rapid and smoked up the wall.

The product, in the report: Samsung glass top electric range
I returned home from work this evening to a strong chemical smell & a thick smoke covering our Samsung stovetop. I quickly discovered that the burner underneath where our [REDACTED] sat was turned on. I quickly turned the burner off, moved the melted [REDACTED], & used our kitchen fire extinguisher on the fire that was growing underneath the pot. No one had used the stovetop (or oven) all afternoon, but apparently either a person or cat has bumped the [REDACTED] into the burner knob, turning on the burner. If I had been a few minutes later walking into the house, our whole kitchen would have been on fire! My kids were all in the house, in other rooms. A quick [REDACTED] search revealed that this is not uncommon with Samsung stoves. Please check into this; the stove tops are very unsafe!

The product, in the report: Samsung Slide In Electric Range Model NE58K9430SS/AA
Samsung Consumer Products February 18, 2020 Address: Unknown, sent via Samsung website complaint
Dear Sirs: My wife and I purchased a new Samsung Electric Slide-In Range in October 2019. It has worked fine, but we immediately noticed two (2) problems with this Range (Model No. NE58K9430SS/AA). 1. The timer alarm is very soft. Unless you are standing very close to the oven you cannot hear the alarm. If you are in the next room, you will not hear it. 2. The front mounted knobs are VERY easy to accidentally turn on without knowing. This has happened to us several times while cleaning up or moving from side-to-side looking for something in the overhead cabinets above or along side of the stove. Luckily, since we are aware of the problem we watch. However, we had an incident on February 3, 2020 that was nearly a catastrophic event. On February 3, 2020 we had a contractor in our home making revisions to our kitchen overhead lighting. We had covered the stove top with a heavy towel to protect it from falling debris and paint. It was about 4:30 PM and my wife and I were leaving for an appointment, leaving the contractor in the house with instructions to lock up when they were done. Apparently someone bumped the leftmost knob (controls Left Rear Burner), and because the stove top was covered, the red glow of the burner was not visible. A few minutes later the contractor noticed an odor and noticed the towel was smoking and immediately removed the towel and threw it in the sink and turned on the water. We were lucky someone was in the house to notice the smoke and extinguish the fire. Attached is a photo of the burnt towel. In the aftermath, the burner had a heavy residue on it from the burnt towel material. I have been able to remove the majority of the residue, but not all. However the glass top is visibly dulled/scratched where I had rubbed to remove the burnt on residue. So now I have a NEW range/stove with a scratched top because of your poor design. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! I am sending a copy of this complaint to the “United States Consumer Product Safety Commission”. Only quick thinking by my Contractor avoided a potentially catastrophic fire event. I would appreciate a response to this complaint.

Hurt, care not known Made Feb 11, 2020, sent to the company Mar 5, 2020, published by CPSC Mar 19, 2020
The product, in the report: ne58k9500sg samsung slide-in electric range, purchased in 2017
Our electric Samsung range (model NE58K9500SG) has caused many injuries and damage. The knobs are so easily bumped that you barely touch them and they ignite on high. Numerous items have been melted and burned, the stove has been on for hours without anyone knowing. I have suffered burns myself trying to remove the items from the stove before they catch fire. It happened when we were installing the stove, resulting in the entire protective plastic and foam cover melting on top. Pizza stones have exploded due to the unknown. At least with a gas stove you generally have the clicking and smell, with the electric there is no noise or smell which makes it even more dangerous. It is easy enough to turn on that our one year old can turn the stove on in one second. We cannot leave anything anywhere near the stove when it is not in use. Samsung’s response is to get a third party child safety cover for THEIR product. That is not a solution, there should be no reason to need to buy a third party child safety product to fix their poor design. There is no reason the stove should be so easily ignited, whether it be by a 1 year old, pet, or an adult.
We have never regretted a purchase so much in our lives. We live in fear, Samsung needs to either develop a child safety replacement knob and/or recall the stove. Someone is going to end up dying from a careless design.

The product, in the report: Samsung 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-in electric range with self-cleaning dual covection oven in stainless Steel.
On December 4, 2019 I used for the first time the self cleaning oven. I followed the instructions on page 56 and 57 of the manual. The default setting is 3 hours which I used. The doors and front drawers of kitchen cabinet on each side of the range were damaged by the heat coming out of the oven during the cycle.
I called the manufacturer they sent a technician from DISH Samsung authorized service provider on December 7, 2019. He told us that the default 3 hours is too long. He recommends to all his clients not to exceed 90 minutes because the oven reach 700 degrees Fahrenheit. In the manual nothing is mentioned about 90 minutes. But according to page 14 it says DO NOT TURN THE APPLIANCE OFF WHILE AN OPERATION IS IN PROGRESS. THIS MAY CAUSE A SPARK AND RESULT IN ELECTRIC SHOCK OR FIRE. Every customers that purchased this range should be notified immediately to avoid damages. This information should be added to the manual for customers protection: Remove all doors and drawers beside range to avoid damages. Samsung sent me an email on December 20, 2019 stating at this time the claim is being closed as this is not considered to be a mechanical defect.

Fire in the kitchen: Samsung electric range Model NE58F9500ss Fire Hazard
The subject range has burner control knobs on the front panel that turn on very easily with a mere bump and accidentally turn on the burners. There have been numerous fires caused by this situation and some houses have burned down. Samsung has known about this since at least 2015, but has not taken steps to rectify this danger. Going to the Samsung Community site reveals at least 97 complaints about this hazard. People just naturally put things on the glass top when not in use such as groceries, pizza boxes, backpacks, cutting boards, all sorts of things. On Oct 30, 2019, we had such a fire in our kitchen. Had we not been at home and heard the smoke alarms, the house may have burned down. A Samsung technician came to our house and said nothing was wrong with the range implying it was our fault for leaving combustible items on the glass top. He said Samsung would do nothing. There are other Samsung range models that have the same knobs. Please investigate this hazard and keep me informed of any actions. These ranges need to be recalled and fixed or replaced.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range
My house has to be gutted because of a fire started by this range on 10/30/19. We lost our 2 puppies in the fire. I have had several issues bumping the knobs and I caught it every time until yesterday. The fire inspector could tell that the fire started through one of the right burners, but was unable to determine what caused the burner to turn on. The assumption was made that I may have bumped a knob as I was leaving the house. In just 30 minutes, after I left, the fire department arrived, but it was much too late.
We are fortunate that we were not home, but the amount of guilt I feel for my sweet puppies is overwhelming and unbearable. Shame on Samsung for continuing to sell a product with such a design flaw.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric range model number NE58F9500SS
Please refer to the Samsung community website to see the MANY other complaints regarding this product. The range is Model number NE58F9500SS. The knobs on the range are so sensitive that they pose a serious fire hazard. Today, I entered my house after being in the yard for over 1 hour. The largest burner on the range was on High. I have no idea how long the burner was on, but the range top took about 30 minutes to cool down. Since I was the only 1 in the house, I know it must have been me who bumped the knobs. This isn’t the first time I have accidentally turned on a burner, but I have caught it the other times before I’ve left the house. I am very concerned about the fire hazard this range poses. A range should not be so sensitive, that merely brushing up next to it starts a burner. There are many complaints on the Samsung site from people who have actually caught things on fire because of this issue. I don’t know if others make formal complaints to the CPSC, so I wanted to make the concern known.

The product, in the report: Electric smooth top range (4 burners & warming center) with oven
The front left burner will sometimes turn on by itself. Additionally, someone could walk past the range and if it is touched or bumped slightly, the burner can come on. In some instances, the consumer is alerted to this, because the range cooling fan will turn on automatically.
There is also a light on the range that indicates that a range burner is on. Sometimes, this light is what alerts them to the problem.
The consumer applied tape to this burner’s control knob to stop the burner from coming on. However, during the night of 10/10/2019, the burner came on by itself. The consumer noted that they stopped using that burner several months ago, as the problem started happening more frequently.
10/2019: The consumer has contacted the manufacturer several times and referred her to Service Quick (their technical service company). The consumer said that the manufacturer’s rep,. documented the details of her issue, but that the company, Service Quick, has not been responsive in terms of scheduling a service appointment.
The consumer was given 10/18/2019, as a service date and Service Quick, is supposed to call her between 8:00am - 10:30am, to inform her if they can send a technician out on that day. And they did call and come out the same day,
The consumer believes that this issue presents a fire and burn hazard.

Samsung Smooth surface 5 burner cooktop, Model # NE59J3420S/AA, Serial # 0CVX7DCH300063W. Front right burner malfunctioned increasing temperature hotter and hotter until it cracked the surface of cooktop. As it continued getting hotter, would not allow for temperature adjustment to lower temperature setting. Only way to stop was to turn burner completely off. As the burner cooled after being turned off, the grass began to arc upward and cracked/broke. Following cool down of surface, the SURFACE HOT indicator light remained on until appliance was unplugged and removed from service. Have communicated with Samsung and although they sent tech to repair, continue to claim that upward broken surface was broken due to external force and will not accept that the burner malfunctioned and overheated resulting in the cooktop cracking. Samsung claims that “physical damage” is not their responsibility or liability.
*** Left front burner can still operate and also overheats, assuming something broke regarding temperature control, but the result is the burner was uncontrollable unless turned off.***

I purchased my Samsung glass-top, built in stove from Best Buy in 2016. Since that time, there have been at least 2 incidences where an item on the cook top has burned by accident. The cause seems to be if someone leans against the front of the stove, the knobs that control the stove-top are on the front and with the least pressure and movement they will turn on the surface without anyone being aware of it. We have burned a towel, a pot, and a silicone hot pad. No one has been injured, there was no need for the fire department, but there was enough smoke to set off the fire alarms--that is how we discovered the problem. The only damage has been to my new white kitchen cabinets that were installed about the same time as the stove. There is silicone residue from the ash on all the raised surfaces of the cabinets. I will probably have to hire someone to clean the cabinets (I hope they can be cleaned), paint them if necessary--will depend on how they look once they are clean. I am 68 years old and cannot reach most of the affected cabinet fronts. I am not safe on a stool or ladder because of physical problems.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric range slide-in model number NE58K9430SS manufactured in June 2017 stainless steel convection
The product is a Samsung electric range/oven slide-in model NE58K9430SS. Mine was manufactured in June 2017. I have had multiple issues with a new Samsung electric slide in range. The knobs, which control the stove top burners, do not need to be depressed and turned to activate the range top. Gently bumping into the burner knobs or digital screen activates and turns on heating elements. The burners have been accidentally and unknowingly been turned on by several people in our home which has resulted in injury and loss of property. Three incidents that stand out the most are listed.
The first was a babysitter bumped the stove which turned the stove burner on high resulting in an object burning on the glass stove top. When smoke was smelled, the babysitter responded quickly and prevented a full kitchen fire. The second: I bumped a burner knob with my hip which resulted in the burner being turned on high heat, without my knowledge, ending with my finger being burned. The burner under the glass top was activated while my hand was resting on the glass top.
The third: my dog touched the stove digital screen with his nose, in front of me, which then turned on the stove top “warmer” burner. I’ve had to keep my dog away from the stove so he doesn’t accidentally turn on the heating elements. So far he has turned on the self-clean feature, the timer, and the glass top warming element.
A simple search online has shown countless numbers of these incidents. Samsung should repair these burner knobs so that they must be pushed in and rotated to activate the burners, just like every other safe range.

I was heating up my Samsung range(model #NE59J7630SS) and all of a sudden the stove started sparking behind the panel. It then blew up in flames. As the fire dept. was coming my husband pulled the range out and was able to put out the fire. The fire dept said this shouldn’t happen with a range so they had an inspector come and inspect the range. The fire dept as seized the range as they want to investigate further. I have spent the last few days cleaning the smoke up in my kitchen. Grateful the fire didn’t go any further. My range was only 3 years old. When it was 1 year old(1 day past warrenty) I turned on the range to self clean and then it blew a fuse. The technician told me to pull the range out more so that it doesn’t get so hot as the range tends to blow a fuse easily when self-cleaning.

Samsung elec. glass top range ne58k9430------ne58m9430
I purchased this range in sept. of 2018 from Best Buy in Honolulu Hi.
This product has a dangerous design flaw. Last Saturday, for the fourth time since I purchased this unit, I returned home to find one of the on- off knobs on high and a dangerously hot kitchen. This has happened three times previous to this incident. It is caused by the design and placement of the range knobs. These knobs are very large and protrude out in front of the range. Because of this, a person walking close by and brushing a knob can accidentally turn the knob to high. This is the fourth time this has happened in the 6 months I have owned this range. I consider this to be a potentially very dangerous situation. I talked to Samsung about the very serious matter several days ago and i was told that they were sorry but there were no other knobs available.

The product, in the report: Black glass top electric range/stove
I placed items in oven to bake, approximately 20 minutes later I was alerted by a loud alarm. I ran to the kitchen to find it was coming from my stove. I saw smoke coming from in back of the stove, when I pulled it from the wall, fire erupted from upper back grid. My kitchen was filled with smoke and after I blasted the fire it flashed back at least twice. I then pulled the pull from the socket gave the stove one more blast, grabbed my two year old grand son and ran out the door. I called 911. The firetrucks came and assessed the situation and told me I could go back in. The food in the oven was not burned nor was it effected at all. Burned marks can be seen on back of the stove and the metal at top of the back is discolored. The wires inside the stove (Coils) can be seen to be burnt. IT was an electrical fire. I am lucky that i was at home at the time and not in my back, front yard or even upstairs in my room or the bathroom. My grandson could have been killed or harmed. He suffers from severe respiratory and skin allergies. I call the company and the sent someone over three days later. He determined that a relay switch stuck open, got too hot and caught on fire. I was told I would have to wait another week for them to make a determination. I was told I have three choices: (1) get the switch fix. (2) get a voucher, (3) get a new samsung stove. But I don’t feel safe with a samsung stove. No one should buy one unless they can sit and watch it while they cook. I see their phones, microwaves and stoves are catching on fire all over internet. I see that no recalls are out and nothing is being done. I see where samsung is giving folks like me a difficult time and making statements like “these are only a few incidences out of the many we have sold” I think that someone or some child is going to be severely burned or killed before anything is done here. They are not going to voluntarily recall as they should, so shouldn’t you? I already spoke to the military exchange where i bought the stove, I spoke to Consumer Reports and I will speak to Attorney General in [REDACTED] about this. I am a 40% disable Vet, I anticipate having to purchase my own stove as I don’t want another samsung and i suppose that is what they are going to offer me. This is not fair. This is not safe. I depend on my military retirement to supplement my income. I work 12hrs per week. I now have to divert my money to pay for food as I can’t cook. This is not fair.

The product, in the report: Samsung 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Range with Self-Cleaning Dual Convection Oven in Stainless Steel
A Samsung brand slide in range was purchased from Best Buy- Pacific division. After a professional installation by their installers-- The range heated the ceramic top elements when I had not “PUSHED and TURNED the knobs” and caught a piece of paper close by on fire . When you lightly touch the outside knobs( the ones that control front burners) the burner is powered on. The knobs themselves are extremely easy to turn-- in other words they could be turned by a child with little effort -- due to location and design. We alerted the retailer, who was not interested in assisting with this problem. We have contacted them about 9-10 times with little results-- we finally contacted Samsung who sent someone to look at the unit-- He was not interested in assisting either. Our main concern is Fire hazard-- someone brushes against this knob the person walks away and a fire occurs as a result. Model #NE58F9500SS Serial #J1967DCG300588

The product, in the report: Samsung slide in electric range
A fire occurred in our kitchen on Jan. 20, 2019. This happened as a result of the knob on our stove being accidentally bumped and turned the stove on. This is at least the 4th time this has happened, this one resulted in injuries to my daughter. I’ve researched and this has been a common problem with Samsung ranges, and to date it appears that they have not taken responsibility for the obvious design flaw.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric glass-top range. This is an inherent design flaw of this widely available new glass-top electric range, installed in 2018. The Model # is Samsung NE58K9430SS. A slightly upgraded model (NE58F9500SS) also has the same inherent design flaw. Both of these are slide-in ranges, but are identical with several additional models which all have the same design flaw.
PROBLEM: Control knobs for range top burners are easily turned on unintentionally, leading to a significant risk of burn injuries and house fires.
INCIDENT: On several occasions, a person leaning toward the counter (to reach an upper kitchen cabinet, etc), has unknowingly and accidentally pushed in one of the burner the knobs and turned a stove-top burner element on with their body. This has led to the burner(s) turning on unintentionally without warning, which one one occasion, melted plastic objects on and near the stove, and starting a small fire of combustible material, which if not contained, could have led to loss of the entire house/structure.
BACKGROUND: The range-top burner control knobs are lightly spring-loaded and turn when pushed in slightly with minimal pressure. Due to their location, it is easy to inadvertently push them in with the front of your body (near the person’s waist).
SOLUTION: One possible solution would be to retrofit these controls with a strong spring requiring more pressure to push in, to release and then turn the control knobs.
This is an inherent design flaw of this widely available new glass-top electric range, installed in 2018.
EFFECTED MODELS: The Model # is Samsung NE58K9430SS. A slightly upgraded model (Samsung NE58F9500SS) also has the same inherent design flaw. Sold by Home Depot, [REDACTED], and others.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range
We purchased a Samsung range for our kitchen on October 13, 2016. It is an electric range - model # NE58K9430SS - for which we paid $1219 at our local Home Depot. Since purchase we have had several close calls related to fire. The knobs to control the cooktop are located on the front of the unit. The knobs are very sensitive to touch and have been turned on without our knowledge with the slightest touch while cleaning or passing by. Once we actually left the house without realizing the cooktop was on and returned to find the cooktop bright red and so hot that the overhead vent fan turned on in response to the heat. Fortunately we had not left any pans or kettles on the stove. The most recent instance occurred on October 7, 2018. The burner was on without our realizing it and this caused a nearby pizza box to catch fire. Again, we were fortunate to have been able to get the box outside before the fire spread. These are two examples of several instances when the cooktop was on when we did not intend it to be.
In reviewing information online and in speaking with Samsung, it is clear that this is a known issue that has caused many other consumers similar problems and safety concern. I received a call from Samsung on October 10, 2018 in response to a live chat and an email in which I expressed concerns about the unsafe functioning of this range. The Samsung representative acknowledged this is a known problem. Her only suggestion was that we use child-proof door handle covers on our stove knobs. Given the sensitivity of the knobs, the use of the child-proof covers does not prevent the knobs from being activated.
We no longer feel that this range is a safe appliance for our home. We feel that Samsung needs to take action to prevent a tragedy in their customers’ homes.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric cooking range with glass top.
I have this Samsung cooking range with model number NE58F9500SS and found out that is causing a danger in the kitchen because the range top knobs turns too easily. The knobs are at adult hip height and turns on with the slightest contact -- a simple brush against the stove and a burner turns on. For us this resulted in a burning some of my placemats that was on the glass top and there are other few instances that might have caused a fire if we didn’t see it. -- this is a serious issue that Samsung needs to address.

I purchased a Samsung oven back in mid September of 2017. I spilled a gallon of milk in my kitchen and it subsequently went under the oven. I took the warming drawer out and went to clean it up. There’s a 2 flat pieces of metal that run under the oven. They are both extremely sharp, so much so that I accidentally ran my finger over the side of it, and it sliced my finger open and almost razored off my side of my pinky. The edges aren’t finished and pose a significant risk to people cleaning under their oven. Not only that, the exposed sides of the drawer are not finished either and extremely sharp too. My children could easily hurt themselves if they try to come play with the oven while I’m doing dishes or what not. This is a design flaw by Samsung that poses risk to everyone who’s purchased this oven or maybe all ovens. There’s no warnings, and I contacted Samsung, and all I received was “Are you okay”, no I’ll replace the unit or refund your money to purchase a safer item. They offered to have someone come look at it but they said they wouldn’t be able to fix it because that’s the way it was designed. What worth is that? They had zero sympathy and felt like they were just covering their bases by contacting me. I asked for a manager and they told me it’s how it’s designed and I should contact a professional when servicing my oven. I wasn’t servicing it, I took the drawer out that’s user accessible to clean under the oven.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range NE59J7630SW/AA; Serial number 0C8S7DCJB00494Y. While Samsung electric range-- flat top with convection oven.
I purchased a Samsung range on 12/28/17 from Home Depot in Cordele, GA. The Model is Samsung NE59J7630SW/AA. The serial number is 0C8S7DCJB00494Y. On 7/8/18 at approximately 7:15pm, I was cooking on the cooktop. When I was across the room with my back to the range, I heard what sounded to be a loud explosion from the range area. (It sounded like a gunshot). When I turned around, I saw the front glass on the range had shattered into many pieces. Only a few had fallen down, but there were thousands cracked. The oven was NOT on at the time and had not been on that day. There was no heat anywhere on the oven door or around in-- only where the cooktop was on. NOTHING had hit the oven door at any time and I was thankfully not standing at the range at the time it happened. This was a very frightening experience and later the glass began to fall down as I have awaited resolution with the 1 year warranty with Samsung and Home Depot. (Samsung is NOT standing by their warranty at this point, claiming that it was the result of something hitting it.) This was NOT the result of something hitting it and should be considered a hazard, as there was apparently a defect in the glass. I have seen online where this occurs with various company range products and is being monitored. I am very disappointed in the failure of Samsung to stand behind its product; however, I am concerned for the public that there may be a larger issue which could cause harm to others.

Cooktop control knobs are too sensitive and are often turned on by brushing up against the knobs while cooking, or even our dogs searching for leftovers on the counter. I have walked into the kitchen many times to find a burner bright red with no one in the vicinity. I feel fortunate that this has not caused any serious injuries at this time, the scariest incident happened in the middle of the night put when I awoke due my dogs barking and could feel the heat from the stove at the top of my stairs as I went to explore the cause of their barking. As I had found before, a large element was on high.

I used the self clean feature on my Samsung range model number Ne59j7630sg for the first time and it got so hot that it shut down the control panel and the oven remains locked. I flipped the breaker and also unplugged the appliance and it didn’t reset the range like customer service thought it would. I also held the off/clear button for 3 seconds as I was told to do with no result. This is a fire hazard not only because of the heat inside the oven but also because it stresses the electrical components of the range. It seems to be a common issue with Samsung ranges but they will not issue a recall.

The product, in the report: Glass top electric range and oven. Stainless steel, black glass top with front mounted control knobs. Manufactured in January of 2015 unknown specific date.
On two occasions, the knobs on our Samsung Glass top electric range were bumped inadvertently. This caused a burner to activate ultimately melting and setting fire to a plastic bowl that was on the glass surface. Fortunately, my wife was able to shut off the stove and remove the bowl to the sink before further fire damage occurred. This occurrence was on March 14, 2018. The first occurrence was approximately two years ago in the summer of 2016 when the knob was bumped by a passing person, activated and burned a laptop computer case. There have been several other activations caused by our children bumping into the range and activating the burners. The knobs are extremely sensitive to being “bumped” by persons working normally in the kitchen. They are mounted on the front of the range at approximately waist level. Because the accidental activation is so prevalent, we have begun to remove the knobs when the range is not in use. The model # is NE58F9500SS. It was manufactured in Thailand in January of 2015

In the fall of 2017, the consumer noticed that the oven rack in the smaller-top oven had the potential to tip over when it was pulled out. The rack is used on the In the number 7 track position, the steel oven rack can act like a seesaw and fall down. There is a track that the oven rack sets in, but there is nothing on the track to keep the rack level and secure it, when it’s pulled out.
All of the other track positions in the oven, use the track above them to prevent this from happening. There is nothing but the top of the oven itself to stop the rack from falling, when it’s in that #7 position.
The consumer’s wife was cooking approximately a week ago. Grease from the dish that was being cooked at the time, spilled on the floor and inside the oven and onto the oven’s glass pane., when that rack was pulled out. The wife was standing on the side of the oven, so she avoided injury.
1/23/2018: The consumer called the manufacturer and reported the issue to them. The rep. transferred the consumer over to a manager for ovens. That person told the consumer that the #7 position is not intended to be used for cooking. However, the consumer pointed out that the oven’s owner manual showed a picture and provides instructions where the rack can be used in the #7 track position. The manager repeatedly indicating that one of the lower tracks should be used. Nothing else transpired out of the conversation.
The consumer said this presents a burn and fire hazard and the problem can occur regardless of the size of dish that is placed on that rack.
The consumer is aware of the problem, so he & his wife try not to use that track. However, some foods are required to be cooked on the broil setting and that is the track/#7 position that the owner’s manual recommends.
The range/oven did not appear to be included in any CPSC Recall.

Our Samsung electric range model NE59J7650WS/AA has a recurring temperature sudden rise to 550 degrees f problem. It has happened a few times since purchase approximately 2 years ago. We have recently had a lower temperature than normal suspected so we installed an analog thermometer in the oven. We monitored a consistent low temperature than the control readout said, usually about 30 to 50 degrees colder. After about 30 minutes it would be at the proper set temperature, this happened quite often during the holiday baking time frame. Several times it spiked to over 550 when set at 325. The last time this happened I noticed the upper broiling element was on high. I shut it off several times and each time the element came back on and the oven controller showed it was operating at 350 degrees. We shut it off and let it cool for 1 day. I turned it on the next day, set the temp to 375, readout said it was 375, analog thermometer said 330. It slowly climbed to 350 in 20 minutes then the temperature rose to 375 and then to 400 in a few minutes. The top element didn’t turn on this time. I shut it off and wrote to Samsung and then to this website.

Samsung has no fix for this dangerous problem.

We have a stainless & black Samsung model #FTQ353IWUX conduction ceramic cook top & self/steam cleaning convection oven which we bought in 2010. The back of the digital control panel popped & caught fire while heating a frozen pizza. The fire was rolling out the back of the stove and up on to the cabinets above, if we had not been right there when it happened, it could have resulted in a much larger fire. The control panel quit operating once it caught fire but the oven did not. The door had initially locked shut when I tried to pull the stove out from between the cabinets, but it eventually let me open the door (which was very hot) so I could pull it out, put out the fire (I had to blow it out since I did not have an extinguisher handy), and unplug the power cord. I took the back panel off of the back of the control panel and saw that a power relay (Tyco Electronics T9ASID22-12 Porter Brumfield) on the back of the circuit panel marked “Broil” had the side blown out of it and melted & caught fire.

When any of the knobs are bumped into or leaned against, the switch controlling the heating element turns automatically and activates the heating element. the activation of this knob/switch should require a two step process of push and turn of the knob. However, this range requires only a slight push of the knob for the knob to rotate automatically, resulting in the range accidentally turning on. This has happened on multiple occasions.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric range model FTQ3531WUX purchased for my home in June of 2011. Over the past six months the front two large burners fail to regulate properly remaining at the high heat setting most of the time no matter where the regulator dial is set. I see this as a high potential fire hazard not to mention a lot of burned food.
I purchased a Samsung electric range model #FTQ3531WUX when I build my house in 2011. Within the past six months the front two burners do not regulate properly. Most of the time they go and stay at the high heat setting. At the very least this causes frequent burning of food and has a high potential to be a fire risk. The initial incident date and the purchase date are approximate dates.

The product, in the report: Samsung Model NE58F9500SS/AA, SN J1967DCH701025L, chrome finish, convection oven with glass top.
The knobs on our new [REDACTED] Electric stove are large and bulky, protruding out from the front of the stove. They operate by pushing them in and turning them. Unfortunately they are easy to push in by leaning on them, and turn very easily. As a consequence we have turned on burners many (dozens) times just by working at or around the stove. Once while unloading groceries, a bag which was placed adjacent to the stove burst in flame, I threw it in the sink to put it out. To make matters worse, the high heat burners are at the front of the stove so if you are working on the back burners you can accidentally turn them on...and they’re intense! Seems like this is an old school flaw Samsung should know about, or that they should have detected in a product safety review. They were remiss. The knob should pull out, if anything, I’d rather turn a burner off than burn down my house. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM!

Unintentional turning on top burners on Electric stove causing fire. A simple accidental bump of the hip to the control knob will turn the top burners on unintentionally. This had started a fire in our Kitchen when a guest leaned over the stove to get a slice of pizza and bumped the control knob which turned the burner on.
The burner had been found on unintentionally 3 times previously but we had not understood how that was happening prior to the fire.
I contacted Samsung customer service 3 times to try to talk with someone in their product liability team and all three times my transaction number case was closed without any conversation from their team.
We currently remove the knobs from the stove when not in use to avoid another fire.

The product, in the report: Slide in electric range. Smooth top with convection oven.
The product is a Samsung Electric Range Model NE58F9500SS - Slide in range with knobs and LED control panel on front of range. Though the instruction manual indicates you are to push the knob in to turn on the element, the outer most knobs turn on with little effort i.e., you brush against the knob while reaching for something in an upper cabinet and the range turns on. We’ve experienced the above several times and had a contractor back into the knob while working in the kitchen, also resulting in unknowingly turning the cook surface on. It’s not a stretch to be concerned that a child or pet could also easily activate the range. When the cook surface is turned on it does not issue a warning beep. A small “hot surface” indicator on the cook surface is the only indication that the cook top is on. The instruction manual does include the warning, “Do not lean on the range as you may turn the control knobs inattentively.”, however it takes minimal contact for the cook top to be turned on. To avoid accidentally turning the cook surface on, we’ve removed the knobs.

After turning off my Samsung Stove I heard loud popping and banging sounds and then the back of the unit caught on fire. It looks like the circuit board was the item that started the fire. There have been MANY complaints on Amazon with the same issue! There needs to be a recall before someone dies in a house fire caused by this product! Here are some of the reviews...
1.0 out of 5 starsFIRE HAZARD BEWARE By [REDACTED] on December 20, 2013 I Baught my Samsung FTQ353IWUX from a local B&M store not going to mention names in June 2011, manufacturer label shows the stove manufactured in April 2011. I feel compelled to write a review for all consumers to BEWARE of this stove and buy at your own risk. As late as Thanksgiving this year 2013 I would’ve said this was one of the best purchases I made however 2 days after Thanksgiving we were cooking casadeas in the oven using the convection feature. Only 1 batch had been made and we were sitting down to eat them when with no warning there was a pop, spark, and FIRE from the stove NO WARNING. Thank goodness we were in the room and able to respond however, how many times have we not been there? How many of you leave the stove when the oven is on? This stove is less then 2.5 years old who would think it would catch fire after such a short period of time with no warning. I’ve included pictures to show the result. I did purchase the extended warranty which is the only thing that will get me another stove. However the original tech only wanted to replace the circuit board and wire harness. HUH of course in his defense he didn’t really take the entire back off the appliance to discover all the damage caused by the fire even though that was his job. He was trained by Samsung after all. Please for you and your families safety PLEASE consider carefully any appliance from this manufacturer if only I would’ve known then what I know now even though I did do research before purchase. These products should be recalled for safety reasons however their not so it’s our jobs as a consumer to protect our home and families. If we wouldn’t have been in the kitchen when this happened it would’ve been our entire house. [REDACTED] 5 days [REDACTED] reply [REDACTED] earlier post Report abuse This just happened to our Samsung FTQ3531WUX, manufactured in 2010. Oven was preheating, we heard a popping sound, then “electrical-fire” smell quickly filled the house. Thankfully my husband was in the kitchen when it happened and quickly pulled the range away from the wall and unplugged it. Inspection of the back of the range shows several blackened areas and melted wires and connectors. So thankful we were in the house when this happened.
We purchased a home in April with this range already in the home. Two weeks ago we were using the oven and heard a pop...then smoke coming from back of the range. Samsung not much help as we do not have the receipt. Definitely feel this is a safety issue. If you asked Customer Service, they have had no issues!!! Don’t really want to put the money into replacing the main board if this range is a lemon.
[REDACTED] months [REDACTED] reply [REDACTED] earlier post Report abuse We just had the same experience with our Samsung oven. We were making fries in the oven. I walked out of the room for a bit, and when I returned there were flames and smoke coming out of the back of the oven. I pulled it away from the wall to prevent starting my house on fire. Then there was a loud pop coming from the back of the oven. The fire and smoke came to a stop and I was able to unplug it. Very scary. Thank God I was home and walked into the room as it was on fire. I have a call into Samsung wondering what they’ll do. I’m wondering if anyone has had any luck with this. It seems Samsung has a serious issue they haven’t resolved. Hopefully nobody’s house burns down because of this.
Ours also caught fire on 7/9/16. Same model, same year as all the rest. We were told by customer service that they had no knowledge of this happening to anyone else. They want us to pay for parts to fix it. WHAT? YOUR STOVE CAUGHT FIRE and you want ME TO PAY? Wondering if anyone has had any luck getting help from Samsung on this problem?

We were using the stove and oven preparing dinner when smoke and flames and popping sounds arose from the back of the range. My husband quickly pulled the range away from the wall and unplugged it, as the smoke and unmistakable smell of an electrical fire spread through the house. An inspection of the rear of the range revealed several burned areas--wires leading to the element, light, and elsewhere--as well as melted plastic connectors. While we don’t leave the stove unattended while in use, it is not unusual for us to go into the yard while something is in the oven. Thankfully this was not the case Monday evening as we would likely have been dealing with a house fire.

My Samsung slide in range model NE58H9950WS has sensitive electronic controls and it sometimes is accidentally turned on if touched when I lean/reach over it. I was cleaning my countertop around the range when a warming function was accidentally turned on. I heard a very loud and long buzzing sound which I discovered was coming from the range. Smoke was coming from around the range and counter. I tried to turn off the oven warming but was not able to do so. I ran to my electrical breaker box and turned off electricity to stop feeding power to what was clearly an electrical fire. (I was not cooking food or cleaning my oven at the time.) I contacted Samsung because I believe the range is unsafe/defective. They said my 3yr 1mo old range is out of warranty and they have no interest in investigating the electrical safety issue.

August 1, 2017 the oven was being used to bake food when the outside tempered glass oven door exploded, hitting his knee, going all over the kitchen floor. The caller states that there are no injuries, however he did state that there were a few small cuts.
He contacted the manufacturer who advised him that his range was not covered under the warranty because the damage is physical. He is reporting this range as a severe safety hazard and is asking that it become considered for recall.

On the evening of June 25, 2017, I was making dinner for my family and a couple of dinner guests. I was at home with my husband, two friends, their infant daughter, and our one-year-old, four-year-old and eight-year-old. I had biscuits and zucchini in the oven at 425 degrees, and was cooking on the stovetop as well. After about six minutes, I heard a loud popping. I saw what I later realized was smoke. At the time I thought I was just seeing the shadow of steam. I was cooking on the stovetop, using the oven and the microwave and thought maybe the breaker blew. My husband reset the breaker and it immediately started popping again. He saw sparks go to the breaker too. He made sure everything was off. I pulled out the oven and saw that my wall was scorched and the back of the oven had scorching as well as if flames had gone from the back of my oven. Our oven is only three years old and I’ve now seen many others with similar experiences. The model is Samsung Household Electric Range NE595R1ABSR. I contacted Samsung support via Twitter and am awaiting to hear back. I’m concerned as I also have a Samsung microwave (it’s my only cooking tool right now) and I’ve seen other consumers with fires from these units.

My wife was warming up pizza in the Samsung electric oven. She heard an electrical popping noise after the oven had been on for about 10 min. Then she heard a zapping sound like bug zapper and upon further inspection saw the back of the range behind the control panel, next to the wall glowing orange and smoking profusely. She immediately turned off the oven and grabbed the fire extinguisher and discharged it down the back of the range which eliminated the hazard. I then went and turned off the circuit to the unit.

The product, in the report: Electric, double oven, smooth cook top, range
I purchased a Samsung slide in range last November. Because I want to keep the glass top nice by setting casseroles atop, I kept a kitchen pad on it when not in use. Right after Christmas, while teen granddaughters were here, one of them yelled, “[REDACTED], something is on fire.” I rushed to the stove and picked up the pad atop the burner area. It burst into flames. Granddaughter said she wasn’t cooking anything nor had she turned a knob. It was long after our meal. We had gone to other parts of the house. All this was a puzzle. So, I asked if she was near the stove, “Yes” she was. I recreated what had happened by doing the following. I let my mid section touch the control knobs and moved slightly to the right. Immediately the same burner came on. It and the ‘bridge’ that connects one burner to another so a large area can be used to cook at once. I went on line and realized this is the complaint I had read about before I made the purchase. Prior, I couldn’t imagine such a thing. I called HHGregg who sent a tech to the house. I showed him what had happened and how. His only remedy was for me to remove the knobs and attach them only when I needed to cook. Since then, this has happened several times. Always the same left burner perhaps because I am so ‘right handed’ and tend to stand slightly to the left. I have a picture of the last time it occurred. So, I can no longer keep the knobs on the stove. I’m 73, live alone and because of this, I live in fear if the house goes ‘pop’ in the night. I second guess myself wondering if I remembered to take the knobs off. Is the house on fire? Do I smell smoke? This is a terrible design flaw. I wish I could get my purchase price back. I have thought of trying to take a loss and sell it to someone else but would never do it without a warning of a potential fire hazzard. So, I do the best I can and live with it.

On Saturday, May 20, 2017, I was using my Samsung Electric Range Model # FE-R300SB. I was only using the two front burners for about 10 minutes when I hear a loud pop. I look down and I see that the glass on the oven door is completely cracked into tiny pieces and parts of it is shattering onto my kitchen floor at my feet. My husband and I quickly place a towel underneath the oven and open the oven door to look inside the interior for any causes of this incident. The glass completely finishes shattering onto the floor. The oven was not even being used or turned on. There was no injuries sustained from this incident, but there could have been as I was barefoot and I also have a young toddler and two dogs always running around.
I have never had an issue with this range before until that day.

The product, in the report: This is a slide in 240 volt Electric Range
I purchased a new Samsung Slide in Range, Model Number NE58F9500SS. There are numerous reviews on major appliance retail store websites, YouTube Videos and other evidence to include my own personal experience that this Range poses a significant fire risk which could result in serious injury, death and loss of property. I read the reviews and was skeptical about the reports regarding the cook top control knobs. There are numerous complaints how easy it is to accidently bump the control knobs, thus turning on the cook top burners. On two occasions less than a day apart, myself and daughter both accidently turned on the cook top burners by brushing against them. Once the burner is accidently turned on there is no way to know you have done this unless you are next to the stove. If you brush against the knobs and not know you done this, causing the burner to turn on it is an extremely dangerous situation. The YouTube Video clearly demonstrates this risk as the mother walked outside with her daughter, only to return with the stove on fire. I would respectfully ask you to investigate the complaints immediately and force Samsung to correct this dangerous and defective Range. Although the Control Knobs are push and turn, the spring in the mechanism is too weak, thus causing the accidently engagement of the Control Knob.

The product, in the report: Samsung 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Flex Duo Range with Dual Door, black stainless steel (model NE58K9850WG/AA)
Hello, I purchased a Samsung 5.8 cu. ft. Slide-In Electric Flex Duo Range with Dual Door (model NE58K9850WG/AA) last fall. It is an oven with a smooth cook-top and burner knobs on the front at roughly counter height. Very shortly after installing it, we noticed that it was very easy to accidentally turn the burners on. The knobs do not have to be depressed to work, and have very little resistance to turning or tactile feedback when they are. Until you feel the heat or see a burner turn red, the only indication that someone has accidentally turned a burner on, is that a light around the knob quietly illuminates. Almost immediately after it was installed, everyone in my family, including the adults, began having incidents of accidentally turning burners on. We implemented rules about being careful around the oven, not reaching over it for things, and not setting anything on the cook-top. However, it is all to easy to set things on a smooth cook top “temporarily” when counter space is full, and unfortunately, this past weekend, as my family was leaving for an all-day school-related trip, one of us (probably one my sons) accidentally brushed up against one of the knobs and turned a burner on as we were walking out the door. Several things had been placed on the cook-top at the time. A small fire smoldered in our house for 10-12 hours until a family member came over than evening to feed our dogs and found pervasive smoke and soot damage throughout the house. Our dogs luckily were fine, but both the insurance adjuster and our fire restoration contractor said our house would have burned down had we not had tiles on the wall behind the oven. We will be out of our house for 4-6 weeks, and the damage (not including hotel lodging and other incidentals) is estimated to be at $30k-$40k. Within a few short months, we--otherwise prudent people--had numerous close calls with this oven, ultimately resulting in a serious house fire. I feel it is an unreasonably dangerous product. Thanks, [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range
In May 2016, I purchased a Samsung Oven, Model #NE58F9500SS and Serial #J1967DCH500720B. On several occasions since then, the stove top range (heating elements) has been turned on accidentally by merely walking and slightly brushing up against the range knobs. This causes the range-top to be heating up without supervision and for long periods of time until noticed later. On April 21, 2017, during a dinner party attended by about 20 people, I removed a large casserole from the oven and placed it on the range-top for serving guests. None of the range-top elements were used during the preparation of the casserole, just the oven. During the time when guests were serving themselves from the casserole placed on the range-top, a guest accidentally brushed against one of the knobs and caused a heating element to be placed into a high/heat position. The casserole dish exploded sending shards of glass at my guests and across the room. Luckily, no guests were injured, but the risk of injury to them was extremely high. (My granddaughter had just finished serving herself and had turned to walk away.) I am concerned with this oven as the knobs are easily accessible to anyone walking nearby and can easily be brushed up against. I must note that no one in the family is obese. I am thin and brushed up against the stove several times in the last year.

The product, in the report: Samsung electric range - ceramic top Stainless steel
I was cooking in a pan with a lid, on the right burner of my Samsung oven range (model NE59J7630SS). I took off the lid and set it down on the unused left burner, so I could mix the food.. A minute later I heard a loud pop, and the glass, around where the lid was lying, exploded from my cook top. There are tiny shattered pieces, as well as large sharp pieces, and several long cracks going across. I was not hurt, but one of my daughters stepped on a tiny and very sharp piece of glass and pulled it out of her foot.
When I contacted Samsung about the incident, nobody ever showed interest that this had happened nor did they want to know details of how it happened. It was their job to basically say that it wouldn’t be covered due to “physical damage.” It didn’t matter to them that the reason there was physical damage was because it exploded! I must have spoken to probably 5 different Samsung people and they all told me the same thing and would take no responsibility for the incident. The oven was 1 year and 5 months old, so technically was out of the warranty period.

Our Samsung electric range, model FER300SX, three years old, was in use in our kitchen when we heard a loud popping noise, and the electrical circuitry in the back of the top part of the stove caught fire. There was a brief flame, and then we turned off the oven, allowed it to cool, and pulled it out to unplug it. When my husband took off the back panel, there were blackened wires in the cavity near the circuit board in the back. I have been trying to get Samsung to respond to this (rather dangerous) problem for four days now, but I cannot get a response.

The product, in the report: Electric slide-in stove
!The new Samsung electric stove that we bought in September and installed with the new kitchen in November has a design flaw- the knobs are too sensitive and turn if bumped into or leaned against. It happened on 3 occasions and we were unaware that the burners were activated, so we had 3 fires already, 2 fires damaged the glass cooktop, and third fire damaged the oven door, and also burned the pots and pans that I was storing in the oven. Samsung sent a technician who suggested that I remove the knobs when the stove is not in use. I explained to him that this stove is a fire hazard, that my husband who is 78 years old and cannot walk steadily can easily bump into the knob again, but technician sent a report to Samsung stating that there is nothing wrong with the stove and that I simply complain that the knobs are too sensitive. I checked the online forums and found that several people also complain about this issue. Samsung refuses to acknowledge the flaw, stating that the fires were caused accidentally by me and therefore the warranty does not apply. I begged them to listen to me, but they said that the only way for me to receive a refund is for the technician to say that it is not repairable. The technician that came today said that he cannot do anything about the knobs, that this is a design flaw, but as far as his position allows him the most that he can do is to try and replace the cooktop and oven door if Samsung approves this repair. I am afraid to live with fire hazard, and want this stove out of my house. I had an [REDACTED] stove for 10 years, the same type as Samsung and never had any issues with it.

On the morning of 2/27/2017, I was cooking bacon inside my Samsung oven range for, about 10-15 minutes. Once the bacon was cooked, I had shut off the unit, but within 10 minutes I started smelling a wierd smell and then noticed smoke, coming from the top of the unit. The insulation under the glasstop of the samsung oven range somehow caught fire and caused smoke throughout our home that led us to feel dizzy and nauseated. We reported the product safety issue to Samsung support and they sent out a technician on 3/1/2017. Samsung escalation ticket # is [REDACTED]. Upon inspection by the onsite technician, he could see that the fire started under the glasstop in the insulation; however, a samsung tech support person he called in over the phone later overrode his diagnosis and indicated it was a due to a cosmetic issue inside the over range and that they would not repair or replace. The diagnosis from the tech over the phone (I remind you: done remotely over the phone) was incorrect and conflicted with what the onsite technician saw. This was a product safety iasue that caused mental and emotional distress to me and my wife, not to mention we inhaled smoke and had to call the local fire department. Samsung has improperly diagnosed the issue and has denied responsibility.

We came home late, preheated the oven to cook tater tots. Put the tater tots in the oven and walked upstairs. By the time we sat down, we heard a loud pop. We thought maybe the sheet bent in the heat. Our eleven year old began screaming, “The oven exploded! Help!” We went downstairs and could smell burning. Smoke billowed all around the ceiling in the kitchen and living room. My husband checked to see if the tots were on fire. They were not. He turned it off. Then, pulled out the oven and unplugged it with gloves. The fire was in the back of the oven and it left black scorch marks on the drywall behind the oven. I checked the GFCI and it did not trigger. The breaker was fine. Called Samsung. They sent out two “certified technicians” on Thursday. They opened the oven, gasped and started speaking in Korean. They took a few pictures of the inside. Then, one pulled the oven out and began unscrewing the back panel. The other asked to use the bathroom. By the time the first guy finished, the second guy was done taking pictures of the back. They were in and out in under 7 minutes. I asked, as they were rushing out, if they had seen this before. The one who spoke better English (or at least pretended to) said that he had. I asked it if was like the Samsung washers and phones, they laughed and nodded. They said they needed to have an engineering report done and they’d call me back. I asked how they were going to do that off of pictures of melted wires (he told me I couldn’t see the panel because it was just melted wires). They played dumb and pretended not to understand. They tried to get me to sign something. I said I wanted to read it. He pressured me to just sign it. I signed it, but added a clause on the form. Today I contacted [REDACTED] on LiveChat on Samsung.com and she said that I had to call their Executive Customer Relations Department and gave me their 800 #. I called and [REDACTED] that the ECRD is outbound only. She said she couldn’t do anything and that I was responsible for the $1000 part due to a block installation issue. I asked how an exploding appliance that nearly caught my wall on fire was my fault. She said she had no authority and I was transferred to [REDACTED]. [REDACTED] told me that the engineering report (which she didn’t have to send to me) said it was an engineering issue. I asked how they made that determination when all the wires were melted, they only had a picture and no one took apart the appliance. I told her I wanted a new replacement because I didn’t feel safe using this appliance. She then said that we must have installed it incorrectly and did we hire Home Depot or someone to install it? I told her it was a drop in range my husband, an IT Senior Network Engineer, could plug in by himself. They said that in a few days we could get another call and they would have to do some investigating. I have 7 children and a home daycare. I have been without an oven or stove for 8 days. I cook multiple times a day for my family and business and am very inconvenienced. I am horrified that a company would have an appliance, made in 2012, that we purchased in 2013, explode and catch fire and try to bill me for near what we paid for it to begin with.

The product, in the report: Samsung dual-oven electric convection range
Samsung has a serious safety problems with its electric range Model # FE710DRS and are doing nothing about it. This was an expensive electric double range, $1,329.00 plus taxes and extended warranty. After successfully using its “steam” cleaning cycle many times I noticed several spots that would not come clean and decided to use the regular “cleaning” cycle which takes more time. During that cycle we noticed a strange smell but the instructions say that normal due to high heat used during this cycle. I let the oven cool and wiped it out with a towel dampened with plain water. Two days before Christmas I set the oven to 350 degrees preheat and prepared to bake a chicken. Within five minutes I heard a loud explosion within the oven, I was standing 2 feet away when this occurred. Thick black smoke began rolling from behind the range and into the kitchen. I ran to our electric circuit (fuse) panel and turned the breaker to the oven off. We pulled the smoldering oven away from the tiled backsplash (tiled all the way down to the floor) to find it was so hot it scorched the tile. We also found the oven melted the counter top on one side! I called Samsung’s 800 number. We talked daily for two weeks while they “researched” the problem. They even sent a repairman to access the damage. He said the oven needed two control boards and a new wiring harness installed to further access damage as other parts also showed scorching damage. This would cost over $550 in parts (plus labor) and effectively means the range is a total loss. I was told that Samsung corporate will get back to you. After countless phone conversations over a two week period (many of the calls were Samsung calling me) a curt representative called to say that it was no longer under Samsung’s initial 12 month warranty and they will not cover repair or replacement. If they had told us in the beginning we could have replaced the stove sooner. We used a microwave oven and a hot plate to cook during the holidays. I researched this model on the internet and found its serious safety complaints. We’re not alone with our fire caused by this model range. I can’t believe a large company with an obvious safety problem would act in such a manner. Samsung currently has many problematic appliances on the market. Everything built by humans and can have problems. How a company handles those problems builds their future market. For the safety of families Samsung should recall this model. We could have lost everything due to their faulty appliance and they don’t even care!

Label says was manufactured May 2016. Range has operated properly these several months. Our son, [REDACTED], an experienced cook, was preparing Clam Chowder for our supper using a large new cooking pot from Kitchen Craft. [REDACTED] lifted the lid to stir and taste the chowder. He drained the moisture from the lid and set the lid on the top. Suddenly there was an explosion. [REDCTED] looked at the top and saw the lid had been moved and the glass top had shattered. My wife and I were sitting at the dinner table less than ten feet away. Fortunately the glass did not become air born and hit any of us.

The product, in the report: Electric slide-in range with dual oven. Stainless steel exterior and glass top five burners.
Samsung dual oven electric range heating element does not respond to oven setting and heats up excessively. Oven element does not stop heating unless oven is turned off. Problem persists even after oven was serviced by factory authorized technician. The service technician temporary fixed problem by resetting the range (switching electric breaker on and off) but oven again burned food after using it several times. The last time it happened, food burned to a crisp, smoke filled the house and smoke alarm went off by the time my wife rushed to turn off oven and remove charred food.

working on tile behind slide in range.... I was grouting but same activity if I had been cleaning it. Must have leaned against the front of the range (knobs are in front) and one burner control got turned on without me realizing it. the knob does need to be pushed slightly in to turn it.
I did not realize it until some combustible material on the stove top began to smolder.
The touch panel for oven controls is also on the front of the unit but has a feature where it can be locked out of use. I feel the knobs should also be locked out by this, or a similar feature as they are easily turned on by leaning over the stove to do reach the wall area behind it.

The product, in the report: Samsung Electric Range, stand alone type placed against the kitchen wall
On Friday, October 21, 2016 I was baking a cake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees in our Samsung oven that was purchased in 2009. At the end of the baking time, I heard a loud pop and went to see what it was. I heard another pop or igniting sound and saw flames and smoke shot up the back of the range. It came from the back of the control panel. My husband used our fire extinguisher on the flames. It shot up higher about 12-18 inches, so he had to go close to it. I was getting our dogs out of the house and called 911. We were very lucky to saved our kitchen and house, which would have been lost if we weren’t so close by. We are concerned this is a safety hazard for others that may have the model of Samsung range. It was very scary and we’ve never experienced anything like this before and don’t want anyone else to either. The range is only 7 years old.

We put a big beach towel down in front of the range in case it did.
