The product, in the report: LG Electric Range
LG Electric Range, Model LRE30755ST, Serial Number starts with 607 (manufactured 7/2006).
Upon shutting off the left front burner, the display switched to HS (which is normal) but the burner did not turn off. Instead, it stayed on and ramped up to the highest possible heat output.
Unplugged the range and let everything cool down. Plugged it back in and the burner immediately came back on with the display changing from blank to HS.
Cannot leave the range plugged over safety and fire concerns. The range is subject to a recall, so will contact the manufacturer.

The product, in the report: LG electric stove Model LRE30453SB/01 S/N: 911MMXN0094
On the evening of 3/6/15 I opened the oven door of our LG electric stove (Model LRE 30453SB/01). Suddenly there was loud pop and all the glass from the door shattered, spreading in a wide area around the room and on my feet. The stove was not in use, and hadn’t been used for at least 2 days.
The stove was installed in April 2010.

The product, in the report: Double Oven electric range
Bought a brand new double oven range LG, model LDE3037ST at Home Depot on November 19, 2014. Got the range delivered on November 28, 2014.
On the evening of December 25, 2014 I decided to turn on the self cleaning feature of the lower oven (larger, convection). After about 30 minutes into the self cleaning, we heard a loud POP and noticed that the inner glass of the oven door was completely shattered. I immediately turned off the self cleaning. Five minutes later, part of the shattered glass fell down to the oven floor. The door was still locked.
On December 26 in the morning, I reported the incident to LG and Home Depot since I also bought the extended warranty. Up to now, the case is open but the Customer Service provided by LG has been horrible. I was told to go ahead and clean the interior of the oven, which I am doing, but the million glass pieces are a nightmare. I am also very concerned about the repair, if just changing a part will make the oven safe to use, and if I will be able to use the self cleaning feature in the future.

The product, in the report: See previous description. Model number, serial number, and manufacture date provided in that one.
I have an LG electric range, model number LRE045ST, serial number 009MMKC0185, and manufacture date Sept 2010. The large burner now turns itself on to high and does not turn off. In order to turn it off, I have to unplug the stove. The large burner will also change temperatures from high to low without input from myself. This matches up with the problems being addressed by a recall by LG. However, the manufacture date is not in range (3 months too late). As such, LG will not do anything about the problem. This is most definitely an unsafe product and LG is not taking action to correct it. I will pay to have the problem fixed. However, at some point some one may be hurt by the stove and the error and something should be done about it.

No one hurt Made Nov 29, 2014, sent to the company Dec 8, 2014, published by CPSC Dec 22, 2014
The product, in the report: LG Glass cooktop electric range model LRE30453ST , stainless steel production date April 2012
Approximately a year & half after purchasing the electric glass cooktop range the front right burner started turning on sporadically on high when the rear right burner would be turned on. The plastic touch pad control panel located at the rear of the stove appeared to have small cracks on both bottom corners caused by the heat of both the oven and stove top that seemed to allow moisture to enter the electronic components causing the dangerous situation to occur. Finally after several weeks the right front burner stopped working all together at which time I called LG customer service to find out about the recall that I found online regarding this model and was told that my unit was not covered due to the serial number although my unit was experiencing similar to the recalled units. Now I’m stuck paying for the repairs of my unit despite the fact that LG has not corrected the initial problem on my later model unit. I believe that part of the problem that they have overlooked in correcting the problem is that the heat that is dispersed by the ovens exhaust, that is located right underneath the the plastic covered control panel, is causing a short circuit of the electronics which because of the plastic it is not able to withstand the excessive heat and eventually cracks. LG should be ashamed of the poor engineering and lack of proper stress testing of the materials that has obviously went by the way side all in the name of maximizing corporate profits while sacrificing consumer saftey...This recall should be expanded to cover later models that are still experiencing these same issues that have not been corrected by the initial recalls corrective components that supposedly my unit already had during its production since it is a later model.

The product, in the report: Electric Range
Caller stated that he is experiencing similar problems of recall#13-031. Hazard:Burners on the electric ranges can fail to turn off after being switched off and the temperature setting can increase unexpectedly during use, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers.
This has been ongoing for the past 3 months. He stated that his left front and right rear burners have a failure and he had to discontinue using them to avoid a fire.
11/2014 The manufacturer was contacted and he was informed that a technician would be sent out, the technician came out 11/18 and advised that he would order the part and when they arrived he would return to replace it. However, 11/20, he was advised by the manufacturer that they would not be ordering the parts because they would not be paying for it.
Caller feels that this range is a fire hazard and should be included in a recall.

The product, in the report: LG Electronics 5.6 cu.ft. Freestanding Electric Convection Range w/glass top in White with Stainless handles Model #LRE30755SW. Serial #702KMDS00122
I was cooking on my LG glass top range that I have owned for 7 years. I was unaware of the recall on this range. The burner was set to 7.5 and I was browning sausages in a pan. I was standing in front of the stove the entire time and was monitoring the progress of the food. They had been cooking for about 10 minutes and as I began to rotate the meat in the pan, I felt an increase in heat, heard a loud pop and crashing of shattered glass. The center of the glass top had exploded and shattered into shards and many pieces. I sustained a cut on my hand, but was extremely fortunate that glass did not get into my face or eyes. Fine shards of glass did project onto the surrounding counter top and into prepared food which I had to discard.
As I said, I am extremely fortunate that glass did not get into my face or eyes. Or that none of my 7 children were in the kitchen at the time this happened. I hate to think what could have happened if any of my teenage kids were cooking with me at the time!

No one hurt Made Nov 19, 2014, sent to the company Mar 25, 2015, published by CPSC Apr 8, 2015
The product, in the report: electric range with a double oven
The consumer reported a potentially hazardous product.
(8/2014) The consumer stated that his wife noticed that the walls of the lower oven was expanding and the oven racks were too small. The consumer placed a pan, which contained a 5 lb barbell, on the rack to see what would happen. The pan and rack fell down.
The consumer stated that the oven racks measure 24 inches. The space in the oven measures 24 1/2 inches.
(10/30/2014) The consumer contacted that manufacturer about the issue. The manufacturer advised the consumer that a vendor would be contacted for a dispatch.
The vendor, XL Appliance, was suppose to call the consumer. When he did not receive a response, the consumer called the vendor and was advised that they would not be coming out because the product was not under warranty. The vendor also advised him that the manufacturer did not provide them with an APM document which is how they get paid.
(11/19/2014) The consumer called the manufacturer about the APM. He was advised that they had to get a warranty exception but it would take about 48 hours to get the information.
The consumer was given case number [REDACTED].
UPDATE 12/11/14: LG service technician came to our home on December 2, 2014. After his examination, he stated either the oven cavity had expanded, or the oven racks were too small or of such poor quality they did not adequately support food items cooking in the lower oven.
Addend to Report 20141119-BAECE-1442940 Document# H14B0152A
Clarification of 8/2014 incident:
Rack did slide off side oven supports during ‘test’ as the rack was being pulled forward as if to simulate checking on food items being baked.
Incident after filing report:
November 26,2014: While baking a food item in the oven (corn pudding) the rack in approx. the middle of the lower oven did slide completely off the side rails as [REDACTED] was pulling the rack forward to check on the dish. She did suffer a very slight burn to her hand requiring no first aid other than cold water.
After numerous contacts with lG with requests for assistance with the range/oven LG finally agreed to send an authorized LG repair vendor (different vendor from the useless vendor who came to the house before). Hysong Appliance Center 93 Monocacy Blvd Frederick,Maryland 301-662 3720 did come to the house to inspect the oven on January 14,2015. The technician thoroughly inspected the lower oven cavity in telephone consultation with lG technical support using a live video feed. The Hysong technician and LG technician mutually concluded the oven cavity had indeed expanded. Quote from the service repair order (attached) “oven liner appears to be bowed in middle of lower oven, causing racks to fall off rails.”
lG soon offered to pay us $600.00 plus 6% sales tax on that sum to “take the oven out of service.”
We refused and lG then offered us $692.00 plus sales tax to take the oven out of service;we refused.
The consumer then pursued the product defect again with Warrantech whom we had a five-year ‘Premium Service Plan’ (PSP) contract through HHGregg. Warrantech had told me in early October emphatically that the problem we were having with the lG range/oven was ‘not a covered repair.’
The consumer spoke to a ‘supervisor’ from Warrantech on or about February 11,2015 to discuss the terms and conditions of my PSP believing the repair should be covered. The supervisor quoted section AQ of the What Is Not Covered of the PSP where it stated the oven liner was excluded. After the consumer ended the phone call, he carefully reviewed his PSP. The consumer discovered that section AQ was included in the Warrantech PSP sometime after their date of purchase March 19, 2011. The consumer sent Warrantech an e-mail pointed out the addition of excluding the defective liners not being covered after my purchase, thus the consumer threatened legal action. Warranctech quickly responded and agreed to ‘cover the repair’ and send an LG authorized service vendor to the consumer’s home on February 13, 2015 to Inspect the range/oven.
A&E Factory service did inspect the oven/range on February 13, 2015 and the technician concluded (in writing and attached) “LOWER CAVITY EXPANDED RACKS FAlLING DOWN. NOT SERVICABLE PART.” Warrantech did provide a full purchase price, plus sales tax HHGregg credit for the range/oven.
The consumer does assert that LG Model# LDE3017ST {other similar models?) are defective and unsafe. THIS MODEL SHOULD BE RECAlLED FOR THE SAFETY OF CONSUMERS.
The consumer does believe that LG, HHGregg, and Warrantech are aware of the unsafe condition of the oven cavity expanding which is why Warrantech excluded repair of oven liners at some point after March 2011.
THE CONSUMER REQUESTS AN INVESTIGATION OF THIS UNSAFE RANGE/OVEN.

The product, in the report: LG Electric Range model #LRE30755SB
My LG brand range was involved in a recall (#13-031) in November 2012. After several phone calls to the listed number service was arranged. The faulty part was replaced on 12/12/12. It is now November 2014, only 2 years later and the range is malfunctioning in the exact same way it did 2 years ago. Several control buttons on the panel, including the ‘start’ button for the oven are unresponsive. Fortunately, I never had the problem of not being able to turn the range off, but who knows what will happen next since the range is malfunctioning in the same way it did 2 years ago.

The product, in the report: stainless steel LG range and with a smooth black ceramic glass top cooking surface
Basically the range at times will not close and the stove top will remain on at maximum heat. All controls on the LCD panel will be disable. The only way to close the LG range is to unplug its power from the outlet directly. I initially reported the indecent to LG after 53 weeks of usage and they told me that it was out of warranty. They only provide a 1 year warranty I was told. Other issues with this range include the LCD functions do not correspond ( example pressing the 8 on the LCD won’t do anything and pressing the 2 will instead output 7 ). Yesterday the LG range decided to go into self clean mode and locked out the entire panel and did not respond. I was forced to pull the power from the wall, then waited an hour or so before plugging it back.

The product, in the report: LG electric range
The LG electric range malfunctioned and almost started a fire in my daughters house. She turned the oven on and the thermostat/heating element did not shut off after preheating. This resulted in the paint burning off the part of the oven where the vent is located. After contacting LG we found out that there was a recall on this appliance. They were uncooperative and refused to help. Apparently the recall was for the top burner issue only. This range was purchased brand new about 7 or 8 years ago therefore the warranty is no longer in effect. LG only offers a 1 year warranty. All the kitchen appliances that were purchased at that time are LG. The refrigerator and the dishwasher. The dishwasher has never been able to do an adequate job. The refrigerator seems to be the only product which is functioning normally.

My large burner turned itself from 1.2 to high heat when I was simmering chicken stock. The broth was exploding from the pan and the unit was smoking. I had to move the pot while the boiling broth was splattering everywhere and got minor burns. I had the pull the whole unit out from the wall while flaming hot because I was unable to turn it off. The faulty part was replaced and a few months later the same thing happened! I was just holding some stock warm in a pot and it turned itself to high and was splattering everywhere. I had to do the same thing to turn it off. That time I was without a stove for 10 days.

The product, in the report: LG electric range
Puchased an LG electric range from Home Depot in 2007 bought the 3 yr warranty, had numerous problems with preheat and timing and intermittent working and not working functions, such as bread proofing and the warming tray.....after many visits from repair and two replacement computer panels, I learned to kind of work around these problems and just to forego some features altogether.... until today. Luckily it is a Sunday and I am home. one of the features I still was able to use was the delay then cook, then hold, feature....so I am home working outside in the yard and have the front left burner on 1 to slowly cook some homemade spagetti sauce. when I did re enter the house it was filled with smoke and the burner was on high. I turned it off.....so I thought. nothing I did could turn it off, my husband and I pulled the oven away from the wall and unplugged it...we let it sit for 10 min or so and re plugged it ...same thing, the burner immediatly went to high....we called LG and got a lukewarm response with a “ try calling back Tuesday” ......In my opinion, had the home burned to the ground LG would have a lawyer sitting on their front porch Monday morning.....I want them to completely go thru and replace computers or whatever....even perhaps a new oven with all the “bugs” worked out.....

I did a search on the LG stove and noticed many complaints, so this prompted me to search on safe products.gov and noticed this recall. I have a LG Electric Glass Top Stove LRE30451. This burners on this stove will sometimes NOT turn off. Or other times heat to a higher temp when the temp is not raised. I called LG and they promptly sent a tech out to fix this. The next day.. the SAME problem. Called LG back, they send a tech back out for a second fix. This fix lasted a while. We rarely use this stove as we usually eat out and use our toaster oven. Last night again, I could not get the stovetop to cool down., it would keep turning on and heating back up like the last time we had the problem. I went to wipe down the surface where we were not cooking and two of the other burners were warm and glowing. This threw me off because I did not expect them to be warm and there was no indication on the stove they were warm. We had not even used them and they were glowing. Had they been any warmer I would have burned myself. I called LG back and they said they will come “fix” this again. I told them that this was a faulty dangerous product and I did not want it in my home. It is sitting in my house unplugged. They said they would only fix it. They are fixing this product with the same faulty parts that are causing the problems. Very very very dangerous.

The consumer stated that he was trying to use his oven to bake. He pressed the button to start the oven, but it would not respond. He had to apply a considerable amount of pressure in order for the button to react. He stated that this happen after the first time that he used the “self cleaning” option. He believes that after the oven was submitted to the “self-cleaning” the control panel was affected by the heat and this is causing the oven control buttons to not work properly. The consumer stated that the buttons that control the cook top work accordingly, but all the buttons to operate the oven part of the range require a considerable amount of pressure to operate. The consumer stated that the oven buttons would not react to the touch most of the time.
05/22/14- The consumer contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer offered to schedule a repair technician to inspect the range at the consumer’s expense. The consumer declined.
The consumer believes this product poses a fire and burn hazard.
Since making my original report on May 22,2014. I have read websites showing many problems found in my case to be very similar - and worse on this LG model. I am frightened every time I use this $995 stove that seems to have had problems even after people have them repaired with a new electronic panel board. I won’t really feel safe unless LG gives me a cash refund so I can purchase a new range. that has much better performance record. No more LG products for me.

I was cooking on the largest burner of the largest element on the cooktop and after turning the burner off it actually stayed on and appeared to be glowing red on High. I turned the circuit breaker off for a few minutes and upon turning the power back on the element once again glowed red. After repeating this several times with the same outcome, I left the breaker off and went to bed. The next morning I turned the power back on and once again it glowed red but this time I tried turning that burner on and lowering the temperature and it did respond then I turned the burner off and it went off and stayed off. The most disappointing thing about this is that LG sent someone out two weeks ago to change the circuit boards to fix this issue (it had happened on several occasions before) and it is still happening.

The product, in the report: LG Model No.LRE30453ST/01 Ceremic glasss electric range Black and stainless steel
On 10/2008 I purchased an LG LRE30453ST/01 ceramic glass top electric range from Home Depot. On 7/2009 my husband instructed my oldest son to turn on the stove in preparation of us being 5 minutes away. He placed a pot on the stove on the largest eye and set the stove for 3.5 with a little grease inside the pan. My son said that as soon as he did what was instructed and sat down on the couch when he noticed immediate smoke coming from the pot. He looked inside the pan and noticed a ring of fire inside the pan that began to escalate fairly quickly and evacuated himself and my youngest daughter out of the home for their protection. Within five minutes of giving him these instructions we received a call back from him stating that the kitchen was on fire. Fire department came but the fire self extinguished itself before they were able to take action. The fire caused 8k worth of damage with us paying a 1K deductible. It damaged the cabinets above the stove, the microwave above the stone, and the stove itself which sustained the most damage. The pot was actually not destroyed, but the stove was. The insurance company had no clue how this escalated so quickly so therefore the pot had masked the true natural cause of the fire which was the stove itself. The stove was replaced with the exact same model stove in 2009 and in 4/2014 while I was cooking on the largest eye once again with a cast iron skillet, the bottom of the dry skillet began to smoke from underneath with a temperature set at 3.5. I noticed the extreme heat coming from the largest eye and attempted to turn it off with no response from the stove to reduce the heat even though the stove read H5 which means a warm status. The heat was so extreme that the other eyes started to read as H5 and they weren’t even on. The extreme heat from the largest eye also prompted the microwave vent to come on by itself. My kids and myself started to get nervous and tried to power down the stove by turning off the circuit braker with no response so we had to unplug the stove from the wall. We waited about 5 minutes and attempted to replug the stove and the largest eye came on immediately flashing red several times sending out extreme heat so we decided to keep it unplugged. I called LG the next day to find out that a recall was issued in 2012 for my model number. I was completely taken back. The recall stated “The burners on the electric ranges can fail to turn off after being switched off or the temperature setting can increase unexpectedly during use, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers”. What else do you need? I asked why I was not notified and they said it was on TV and because I did not register the product I didn’t get notified by mail. I’m a working professional mom of three, really! I can’t believe they said that. They offered to repair the stove I currently have in my home and offered apologies for the fire in 2009. Is there no recourse or responsibility of the manufacture for damages that occurred to homeowners before the recall. How can this be right. LG is claiming statue of limitations is 3 years but what about the fact that a recall was not issued until 2012. How was my insurance suppose to know that their product was defective when their was no recall in place. How is the consumer suppose to be protected in a case like this. I’m not asking for the 8k that my insurance paid out but at least take responsibility for the deductible I had to pay for your fire hazardous product I placed in my home that nearly killed my kids. How can the statue of limitations be set for 3 years when the defect is not found until the recall is issued? PS: I should be able to seek reimbursement of my deductible (money loss) under the NC Gen Stat. 1-50(6) which is 6 years from the date of incident.

LG replaced the control panel in response to the recall 2012.
The oven was fine for two years.
Last week I decided to use the self cleaning feature for the first time since the repair. Since then the oven thermostat sometimes works and at other times, the oven temperature heats up well above the selected temperature. Hotter than I would ever set it and the door is unlocked.
Thankfully, nobody has been harmed and my children are all teenagers. This could be very dangerous to a toddler.

The product, in the report: LG Electric Range Cooktop Model Number LRE30453ST /01 Serial Number 103MMYF01588 Mfg March 2011
LG Electric cooktop will not consistently turn off. About once a week I need to run downstairs and shut the circuit breaker off in order to turn off burner. I looked on you website and found the LG recall however when I phoned them LG said my range is not part of the recall. I find that interesting since I have the same problem, same brand, and same model as recalled units.
Text of additional message by email dated March 19, 2014:
Any updates on this recall? I would like to see the serial number range it expanded as my 3/2011 LG range (same make, same model) has the identical same problem the slightly earlier recalled models have. I have been trying to resolve this with LG since 11-5-2013. LG dispatched a tech twice and performed the recall update (circuit board and relay) and now my cooktop is even worse. I have to power it off and on using the circuit breaker and we have three young daughters in our house.
LG has offered to pick it up, haul it back to Illinois, have it inspected, then mail us a full refund; LG says this process will take 2-3 weeks. First I cannot afford to be without our range for “2-3 weeks” nor do I want to run the risk of buying a new range only to find out they repaired this one and will ship it back meaning I have two and out $$$. I want LG to either repair it or exchange it, this is what they did with our LG washer a few months ago when the recall fix made it worse.
Help!

This product has almost cause 3 fires. Burner melted section of extractor hood & oven raging at over 750 degrees has almost combusted the surrounding wood cabinets! The control boards & several burners have been replaced in this unit several times & LG is not resolving the issue. We have had 3 different repairers sent out by LG but none were LG techs, all were LG retailer repair guys.
Numerous issues with this product since 1 week after purchase in October 2009. Lack of service by LG.

I have a LG LRE30453SB Electric Range. I am having a problem similar to a current recall (Burners on the electric ranges can fail to turn off after being switched off and the temperature setting can increase unexpectedly during use, posing burn and fire hazards to consumers).
My problem is this type of problem happens in the oven. No matter what temperature I set the oven to the oven keeps heating (well over 600 degrees) burning everything and creating a fire hazard due to extreme heat of the oven itself.

LG Electric range model#with serial# recalled for burners not turning off with release# 13-031.
Callers purchased range in 2009 and had no major safety issues until Sept or Oct 2013 when she was cooking enchiladas in the oven.
She removed the dish from the from oven and saw that there was a screw lying on top of their food.
She would like to report a choking hazard that could have occurred if she had not seen the screw before serving. Had screw been swallowed, severe gastrointestinal issues would have occured.
The glass on the front of the oven door has become loose and is a severe safety hazard because if it came out it could shatter and injure those using the oven or children who may be close by.
There are no injuries being reported at this time.
Caller has contacted the manufacturer who offered her only parts at their expense if she paid for all labor.
She has spoken with the manufacturer a few times from March 2013 to October 2013 and no one alerted her that her range has been recalled November 8th, 2012.

The product, in the report: Electric 4 burner, 1 warming burner Range
Caller purchased her electric range September 10, 2011 and had no problems with it other than the oven not holding a consistent heat range until the last week in September. The last week in September the caller finished cooking then pushed button to turn the front left burner off but it would not turn off. She tried repeatedly until finally after five or six tries, the burner finally turned off. She did not contact the manufacturer with this incident because she believed it to be isolated. She had no further problems with this range until sometime around October 12th - 14 when she was cooking on the back right burner. The results being the same as the previous incident with the front left burner. Home Depot extended protection plan.
She contacted the manufacturer and they sent the technician again on October 29th, 2013 and ordered part.
The repair tech returned to callers home November 6th, 2013 and placed new relay board. saw that lights lit up, said that heat had begun then left.
The tech had been gone approximately 20 minutes when the caller turned her burners on then began preparations for dinner but when she placed pots on the burner there was no indication that they were on. She placed her hands above the burner then on the burner but there was no heat coming from them. She then tried to turn the oven on but that would not heat up either.
She contacted the repair tech and was advised that he could not return to her home unless he had a ticket from his company instructing him to come back out. (A & E Factory Services in Sharon Hill, PA). repair returned next day Nov 7,2013. Determined new board shorted out and ordered a new board.
Caller is reporting this incident as potential safety fire hazard due to the lack of dependability of the electric range functions. She is asking for complete repair at manufacturer expense even if covered under warranty.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel LG Brand Electric Range, Glass Top w/convection oven. Model LRE30453ST/01 909MMUM01062
On 10-25-13 my wife was cooking on our LG glass top oven/range. When finished she pushed the off button for the front left double element burner but it would not turn off, in fact it went to high and stayed there. Nothing that we did would turn off the smaller element until we turned off the breaker in the basement power panel. We went to the internet and on the LG web site found that there was a product recall for this unit, same model and within the correct purchase period. On Monday 10/28/13 we contacted LG by phone and spoke to a rep. name [REDACTED]. After explaining the situation to him he told us it was not covered under the recall because it was a convection oven. Fact, the oven has nothing to due with the range top last time I checked. This is a major burning and safety hazard. Is there anything assistance that you can provide to help remedy this serious problem. Thank you. [REDACTED]

LG Electronics range, model LDE3017SB, left front burner will not turn off and will turn itself to full hot without user input or knowledge that it has done so. This presents a serious hazard, especially when heating grease. Was heating grease on low, left room for a few minutes, returned when smoke alarm was going off because grease had gotten so hot. Grease was smoking and was at temperature just prior to ignition. Left front cooktop element had turned itself to full power though display still indicated a lower setting. Could not turn heating element off or down. Had to unplug range to turn element off. Manufacturer refuses to repair due to range being almost 3 years old even though a different model range by the same maker is on a recall for the same problem. (Recall release 13-031)

The product, in the report: LG Electric range
We have an LG LRE30453ST electric range. During the cleaning process the top of the stove gets EXTREMLY hot...without any warning. I reached over to turn on the oven light and the black stove top burned my forearm. We thought at first we put the cleaning on 3 hours and that possibly this was the reason. The second time we cleaned we put it on 2 hours and went to bed. Yesterday I again put it on for 2 hours early in the morning. I began to do things around the house. My 93 year old father lives with us. He got up early went into the kitchen and he must have felt unsteady grabbed onto the stove and burned his fingers. It was just a brief grab because he felt it was hot - screamed and I came running to the kitchen. I got him settled and called our doctor. Thankfully it was not as bad as it could have been. In the meantime I checked the cleaning and left it to continue its cycle. I want to also add that there was a plastic bag that had bananas in it - this was sitting rather close to the top of the stove - it was melted. That is how hot the top of the stove gets. I put chairs around the range and waited for the cycle to end.
I am reporting this because it is a potential fire hazard as well as a something that should be told to people with children in the house.
I would be happy to have someone come out and witness this. I have called LG - which I have had repairmen out for other issues 3 times...There is no recall for this and there should be

The product, in the report: Electric range, stainless steel
The LG electric range we purchased on 11/30/12 had the buttons stop working first in February. At the time, we were unable to use our stove because we could not turn on the burners. If the buttons stopped working after the burners were already on, there is a potential burn hazard. I have read several issues of similar problems with different LG models.
At the time, we called for it to be repaired. Days later when the technician came out, it was working again and they did nothing. This happened again weeks later, this time, the buttons to start the oven would not work. The repairman came again and then replaced the entire electrical panel behind the buttons.
The stove buttons failed for a third time on 5/26/13. The repairman couldn’t come out until 5/29/13 and at that time, the buttons are working again so LG will do nothing. The stove works intermittently and is unsafe because it is completely unreliable.

The product, in the report: LG Range (Electric Stove/Oven) Model # LRE30453SW White
I have a LG Electric Range Model # LRE30543SW, when I came home from work yesterday (3/19/2013) the glass door of the oven had shattered in little pieces all over my kitchen. It was purchased on 2/24/2010. I don’t think that this glass should explose. No one was at home when this happened. I feel this is a major safety issue. Thank you.

Had set oven to self clean cycle. Approximately 30 minutes later heard a very loud pop. Checked to see what noise was to find inside glass window of oven had shattered. No injuries or damage other than to oven itself. Immediately turned oven off. Thankfully outer glass was intact. But concerned it could have shattered had I not turned it off right away. I have children and pets that potentially could have been hurt. Fortunately outer glass held. Repairman coming tomorrow to replace (i assume) the window.

The product, in the report: Free standing electric range; black glass top; looks just like the recall pictures on your website.
Since October, 2012, we have had problems with our LG Free Standing Electric Range; Model # LRE30955ST; purchased here in California; our problem is that the electric range top burners go on and off automatically, at all hours of the day and night; we have discovered that LG has recalled this particular range as of November 8, 2012; Recall Number: 13-03. We reported the problem to LG and have had technicians to our residence to repair the problem on four separate occasions [December 7, 11, and 27, 2012 and February 4, 2013]. Though electrical panels were replaced on the two first visits, the problem has NOT resolved. We were told that the range would be replaced; and now LG is refusing to replace the range; they have stalled us since October 2012, and we have NOT had a working range since that time. It is an extremely dangerous situation, since the range will turn on automatically with NO effort or direction of the user. We have made every good faith effort to get the range repaired, but it is NOT repairable. We now want the range replaced with one that is NOT a danger to our family and household.

The front lip of my LG ceramic top electric range gets extremely hot when the oven is in use. I have called LG numerous times regarding being burned. They have said this is “normal” operation because the oven vents are right below the ceramic top and there is nothing they can do, but send out a technician and charge me $150. I have reported my concerns since I purchased the range a year ago to no avail. My latest contact with LG was concerning their massive recall notice. My range is not being recalled. LG electric range burner with digital controls was being used on a medium-low setting for the front right burner. We noticed the burner was hotter than expected for the setting. When the button was pressed to turn the burner off, it continued to glow and heat uncontrollably. The control display indicated the burner had been turned off. The only way to turn the burner off was to switch the circuit breaker for the range. Several hours later, I turned the circuit breaker back on and noted that the same burner immediately began to heat and glow again.

When I first purchased my lg lre30757 electric range I had trouble the first time that I ran the self clean. The unit got so hot that the thermostat malfunctioned and shut the entire range off with the door locked shut. Lg sent a repairman that had to replace the thermostat before the door could be opened. LG did replace the entire range under warranty, however, the new unit did exactly the same thing and after that LG would not do anything to help me and I had an extended warranty and that company never did get the problem fixed either and then the extended warranty ran out and the issue was never resolved. The unit gets extremely hot when running the self clean and at temperatures over 350 degrees. It also makes a very loud continous noise when using the convection bake or roast.

The oven on my LG range, model # LRE30755ST/02 heated to a temperature much higher then it was set for. This occurred several times, burning the item in the oven and creating smoke that filled the kitchen/house when the door was opened. I had the unit serviced twice for this problem, the first time having the thermostat probed in the oven replaced, which did not resolve the issue. The second time the “mother board” was replaced which seemed to fix the problem at least somewhat. At this time the oven does work but when the set temperature is checked against a separate temperature gauge that the repair used the temperature is consistenly 10 to 15 degrees different.

I have an LG electric range and from what I have read on the consumer reports it looks like the model LRE30453ST is on the recall list, However when I called LG the representative states that the serial number (105 MMBE10501) does not include this model. I have had problems with the range for several months, with either not turning on or off when buttons pressed. I had several times that the burners did not switch off after the button pressed. Several of the burners stopped working all together, and this afternoon again it did not want to switch off and I had to pull the circuit breaker of the house because I could not get the temperature to go down or switch off. After that I was able to use two burners again, however now none of the burners work.

LG electric range model LRE30453ST. I bought the stove a little over a year ago. Two of the control panel switches started to work intermittently. Sometimes I could not turn the burners on and sometimes I could not turn them off. I would have to pull out the range and unplug the stove to get the burners off. After reading other reviews, I learned that is not an unusual problem and other people had resorted to going to the fuse box and flipping the switch there. I had the control panel replaced and so far no problems.

My LG Electric range that is recalled: This summer when I was making a pie, it burnt it bad, and when I noticed it I opened the oven door and my oven thermometer read 550 degrees. I thought maybe I did something wrong, so I made another one and it worked fine. This was in July of this year. Then on 12/1/12 I went to make a pumpkin pie and it burnt it. Again my oven thermometer registered 550 degrees. So I let it cool and the next day I made another one, same thing. So I gave up, called my repair man. When he came he turned it on and it did it again. He said it would cost me $300+ to fix it. I had to have 3 boards replaced in it 14 months before that because the burners wouldn’t turn on anymore. That was expensive as well. I am truly disappointed in my LG oven. I spent alot of money buying LG appliances for our new home and certainly didn’t expect to be paying repairmen this soon!

Our range turns on randomly. The temperature rises. My mother-in-law has actually burned her hand while cleaning the stove because even though everything indicates the stove is off, it still randomly heats up or turns on.
The most recent incident happened last night. We have unplugged the stove and will call LG tomorrow to see if they will fix the problem. This range was bought at Best Buy on or about October 2009.

The product, in the report: LG electric range
I own a LG Electric Range, model number LRE30757ST, mfg in 2009. I bought it from Best Buy. One 11-6-12, I set it to self clean. I noticed a smell that was worse than I have ever smelled when using the clean feature, it smelled like burning rubber, and quickly the house became immersed in the smell, even though we opened all the windows. It also burned my throat after awhile. I stayed outside, and soon began to smell the fumes coming out of the house, even though I was sitting quite a ways from my sliding door that was open. The clean feature had been running for about an hour when I became concerned and went in to check the range. The top of the range was so hot you couldn’t touch it, as well as the stainless steel along the top of the range. The oven door was just as hot. I felt the sides of the range, as it sits between two cabinets made of wood. It smelled hot and I became concerned that it may be burning rubber around the glass top. I noticed the gasket on the oven door looks burned, and is no longer plyable, it looks stiff from being burned. I turned it off and haven’t used it since. I have used the clean feature before, and it has never gotten that hot. It would have caused serious burns if someone touched it without knowing, it seems to me there is no need to lock the oven in clean feature, if the rest of the range is as hot on the outside, as it is on the inside. Today, 11-8-12, I noticed a recall on this range, (Release # 13-031 dated 11-8-12) so I am submitting this report to inform you, as the recall was because of the burners. I believe there is something wrong with the oven part of the range, and that I may have had a fire if I had not turned it off. I will be calling the firm’s recall hotline to tell them of this experience and see if they will come and look at it. I also have a warranty through Best Buy, so I will be contacting them also. LG has informed me it is not covered on a warranty, and will not fix it as it is not a part of the current recall.

The product, in the report: LG Electric Range Model: LRE30757ST Serial No: 904MMYF00314
We own an LG-Range (Model: LRE30757ST/SN:904MMYF00314). My wife has used the “Self Clean feature only twice. During the 3rd use, the area became extremely hot, cabinets were hot to the touch and the microwave hood’s safety fan turned on, automatically. Within the last 45 minutes of the self-clean cycle, the range turned off/no power. The door was stuck in the locked position. I decided to investigate, myself. In short, the thermal fuse had tripped. Although, I was more concerned of the safety concerns that were found: 1) The granite back splash had a burn/flame stain 2) The range’s rear/metal panel had ‘burn’ stains on its exterior and interior 3) The internal/metal panels had burn/flame stains by the heating element motors and light bulb. 4) Wires and a plastic connector were melted and showed evidence that a fire had ignited. Had the thermal fuse not have tripped, my kitchen/home would have been in flames. Regardless of the thermal fuse, the range should never have caught fire or exhibited such burn markings. I’ve made attempts at coordinate resolution with LG but they have not responded. I created a report and submitted the purchase receipt, details and images to LG.
Chronological order of events: October 10, 2012: Incident Occurrence October 11, 2012: Spoke with an LG CSR who instructed I coordinate a service call. October 12, 2012: Performed a Live Chat and instructed to fax receipt (transcripts in the Appendix). October 16, 2012: Performed a chat for follow-up (transcripts in the Appendix). I’m told nothing can be done until management reviews the details. I am concerned management does not understand the severity of the new findings. I have faxed this document, using the same number provided for the receipt.
After replacing the thermal fuse, my wife has been using the stove top and a toaster oven to feed a family of 5. My family can no longer continue with limited range use.

The product, in the report: Electric Range, free standing, black. Manufacturer date was May, 2006, exact day unknown.
We were using our LG Electric Stove on the broil setting, with the door slightly open. After about 5 minutes of broiling, we heard this loud noise coming from the oven, sounding like an arc welder, and noticed a large bright flame inside the oven in addition to smoke. I was able to turn off the stove from the front panel, and the noise stopped. I then immediately turned off the breaker. After the smoke cleared, we noticed that the broiler element had broke (clean break) near the back of the stove, and there was also a hole in the top of the shell of the oven. The area also contained metal slag around the hole, and the slag also had fallen on the bottom of the oven. What appeared to have happened was that the element broke, and instead of just having an open circuit, the current from the element “arced” to the top of the oven shell, creating an “arc welder”. No one was injured, just very startled. Luckily, we were just heating up some shrimp and rice, but if there was a steak broiling, the grease could have easily caught fire from the “arc welding” that was occurring. The stove is a little over 5 years old (purchased August 28, 2007), and when I contacted LG, the customer service department tried to get their management to extend the warranty, but the management turned it down, stating that it was out of warranty. I then contacted LG and spoke with [REDACTED] in management, asking them if they wanted the stove, as it is a potential fire hazard. She seemed interested and would call me back in a day to see if the technical department was interested. I never received a call. I would have thought that LG would be interested in a defect in their product. I guess they will just wait until a fire occurs and possible loss of life. Luckily in my case, there was someone around and it did not catch fire more than it did. Because it was on broil and the door open, there could have been house damage and injury/loss of life.

The product, in the report: LG 30” Self Cleaning Electric Range-Black LRE30453SB
We have an LG oven with a self cleaning service. I had never used this feature before-I only used regular cleaner. However, my husband recently decided to use the self clean feature. The oven got extremely hot-so hot that the microwave above it turned on it’s own vent fan to try to cool the area down. At this point, I tried to turn the cycle off, but it would not. This unit heated up the entire kitchen, it was so hot. Obviously, we stayed nearby to make sure it did not catch on fire or something. Immediately after the incident, the oven displayed an error message and stopped working completely. It basically burned itself out. This oven is only about 3 years old, and as I said, the feature was never used before this day.

The product, in the report: LG LRE30755ST (Electric Range)
We have an LG LRE30755ST that we purchased in May of 2007. It was manufactured in April of 2007. On April 6, 2012, while cooking dinner in the oven, a loud humming noise started and we noticed there was a fire inside the oven. I immediately grabbed the kids and ran, and my husband shut the oven down & grabbed the extinguisher. After it cooled down, it appears some sort of wiring between the warming drawer & the bottom of the oven caused the fire and it burned a hole through the bottom of the oven. I contacted LG about this, even though it was out of the 1 yr warranty, and the only thing they had to offer was to send out a technician to perform a diagnostic test for $89. I told her there was nothing to diagnose, there is a HOLE burned in the bottom of my oven, it needs to be replaced. The agent simply said “I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.”. We are furious as this is a very dangerous product, and have seen several other reports of the exact same circumstances, yet the product has not been recalled, simply/conveniently “discontinued”. If we had been in another room, this could have been a major fire and done damage to our home. LG needs to be held accountable for their poor products.

The product, in the report: LG Electric range. Glass/ceramic cooktop, regular/convection self cleaning oven, smooth touch controls (no knobs). Stainless steel
I have an LG electric range that I purchased 7-7-10. On January 29, 2012, I used the self cleaning oven feature on the range for the very first time. After an hour or so into the cycle, the stove exterior to include the cooktop were very hot to the touch and even the countertops bordering the range were very hot. I had never experienced this much heat from a self cleaning oven in any other range I have ever owned. I tried to turn the stove off but it would not turn off. My brother was at my home visiting and we finally decided that perhaps it was supposed to get that hot. The next day when I tried to use my stove, the controls did not work properly. Half of the burners would only turn on on high temperatures. The oven temperature could not be set either. A repair man from the company Mr. Applicance came to my home on Feb 2, 2012 to give me an estimate on the problems with the range. I have been informed by that company that the heat from the self cleaning cycle was so intense that it warped all four of the ranges electronic control boards. The range’s one year warranty expired 7-21-2011. I did not purchase an extended warranty. The purchase price for the range after a military discount for me was $899. The repairs have been estimated at $1018.
Because of the intense heat from the self cleaning cycle and the fact that I could not turn the stove off when I realized it was so hot (the control boards must have already started to warp before this attempt); I feel that this product is a fire hazard and should be investigated.
This range was manufactured May, 2010. I ordered it from Home Depot on 7-7-10 and it was delivered on 7-21-10. It is LG Model # LRE30453S. S/N 005MMXN01826.

The product, in the report: LG Electric Stove Model LRE30451ST Serial Number 609KMTL00025 Stainless Steel 6 burner bake/Convection
I have an LG electric Stove Model NumberLRE30451ST, Serial Number 609KMTL00025. It is a flat stove. one day my wife was cooking dinner and after she was done shut down the burners cleaned up and left to run errands. I came home several hours later and found the right front 14” burner glowing red hot. I immediately went to shut that burner control off but found that it wasnt even turned on according to the control panel. I pulled the stove out and unplugged the unit. Everything turned off. Upon letting the unit cool down I went to plug it back in and immiediately the 14” burner was glowing red hot. I unplugged the unit again. and contacted LG via. No response from them regarding the coorispondance. I later unplugged (disconnected) that burner and plugged the stove back in. several months passed and now the other burners have intermitant controls and in most cases will not turn on. I am suspect of the burner control board at this time. Had we been gone on an extended vacation or left something on the stove the night of the incident a fire would have ensued, resulting thousands of dollars to the kitchen and house.
