First aid Made Apr 26, 2017, sent to the company May 4, 2017, published by CPSC May 18, 2017
The product, in the report: Fitbit Charge 2, Teal Silver, S/P
I purchased my Fitbit Charge 2 with the band it comes with from my local Best Buy on April 02. I had no issues with it during the first week. At the beginning of week two, I started to develop a red rectangular rash. I went online to try to resolve my problem and was directed to a page on the Fitbit website about proper product care. After reading, I took the band off, cleaned it thoroughly with an alcohol wipe, stopped wearing it to sleep, made sure not to let moisture build up between the band and my skin, allowed my wrist to have a break from it a few hours a day, and I began to wear it more loosely around my wrist. I have sensitive skin, so I thought that maybe cleaning the band would relieve my skin irritation. After another week, I realized that the rash had become darkened and scaly, so I stopped wearing the tracker altogether. It is now week four and the affected area is not getting better as of yet with the use of moisturizers and creams.
I contacted Fitbit and after verifying my purchase, they are going to give me a full refund. They have also provided me with a prepaid shipping label, in order to return my tracker.
I really wanted to enjoy my Fitbit -- i even got my boyfriend to purchase one so that we could track our health together. In my original message to Fitbit I inquired about whether or not buying a different band would solve my issue, which I did not get a direct response to. After doing more research online, it seems that others are suffering from battery burns, so it is likely that I am as well.
Fitbit has been very responsive and friendly during this whole entire process and I am reporting this to educate others about my personal experience.

First aid Made Mar 1, 2017, sent to the company Mar 9, 2017, published by CPSC Mar 23, 2017
The product, in the report: The Fitbit Charge 2 is a wrist-worn device that tracks heart rate, activity level, distance walked, and sleep.
I purchased a Fitbit Charge 2 fitness tracker, which I wore for a week. I received a nasty chemical burn from it without warning or prior irritation. The burn left two “holes” on my wrist aligning with its exposed prongs for charging the battery. I immediately discontinued wearing the band and the burn is still healing two weeks later. I have taken pictures of this and contacted the company directly warning them about this problem. Googling the matter, I see there are long threads on their support web site with similar complaints.
I previously wore a [REDACTED] fitness tracker for well over a year without any irritation, and I am acquainted with proper hygiene guidelines for keeping wearable devices clean. I did not realize this was a burn initially, assuming it was some sort of rash. It did not disappear when I stopped wearing the Fitbit, leading to treatment with antihistamines and topical hydrocortisone. These had no effect, and it is still healing two weeks later.

The product, in the report: Fitbit Charger FR step counter with heart rate monitor.
My husband gave me a Charge HR for Chrismas 2016. I wore it fairly regularly during the days and took it off at night. I noticed several hard blister like bumps on my wrist so I switched wrists. I continued cleaning the band with rubbing alcohol but soon I developed the same bumps on my other wrist. I switched again and the rash came up almost immediately so I quit wearing it entirely. It had been over a month now and the rash seems to be getting much worse on my left wrist. Nothing works. Seeking medical advice this week.

Hurt, care not known Made Jan 20, 2017, sent to the company Feb 6, 2017, published by CPSC Feb 28, 2017
The product, in the report: Personal fitness tracker, wearable technology serial number - 0c8e00348812
I had use the Fitbit Flex for about 2 years with no incident. I recently upgraded to the Fitbit Charge HR. I have been wearing it since the end of October. I take it off to shower, swim, and to charge, otherwise, I have it on. I noticed a red spot on my wrist by my thumb on or about January 13, 2017. I left my Fitbit off for the day to give my wrist a break.
I have idiopathic hypersomnia, which makes it incredibly difficult to wake up. The silent alarm function on the Fibit has helped tremendously and I rely on it as part of my wake up routine. The redness seemed to go down a bit, so I put it back on before bed so that I could use it for the morning alarm.
I didn’t notice it too much throughout the rest of the week and the weekend. The redness lingered, but was not bright and did not spread. This morning, January 20, 2017, I notice the spot is much more red than before and seems to have gotten a bit bigger. I also have a spot starting on the top of my wrist, about 1.5 inches away. Right now it is splotchy and small, like how the first spot started.
The first spot feels very dry now and is a bit itchy, which is new to today. It also looks a bit raised. I have called my dermatologist for an appointment since it has worsened and a new spot has developed.
I keep my Fitbit clean by washing it periodically with soap and water as best as I can. The material the band is made from feels gross when any moisture is trapped between it and my skin, so I always take my Fitbit off after I wash my hands in order to dry the band and my wrist. I don’t think this has developed from irritation in that regard.
I do not wear the band very tight. The battery only lasts about 3 days, so I have to take it off for a few hours while it charges.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Dec 29, 2016, sent to the company Jan 11, 2017, published by CPSC Feb 3, 2017
The product, in the report: Black Fitbit charge HR large
My husband treated me to a Fitbit charge HR and after three weeks I notice and fiery red rash appear on the underside of the flash sensor( the hard back , not the strap) I started wiping my Fitbit after my exercise with a wipe then a dry cloth. I charge my Fitbit every 2/3 days. After a few days of cleaning my Fitbit my rash remained Just as fiery, if not more so I removed it to my other wrist. After 4 days of being on my other wrist the same thing was beginning there so I removed my Fitbit cleaned it , loosened it( but by doing this , my readings changed for he monitor so my strap was too loose. I put a plaster over the areas for a few days and tried that but my skin needed fresh air to heal so I had to remove them. This went on for 5 months until I contacted Fitbit to inform them with photos that my wrist wAs covered in a blistery fiery red rash that was not going away. I started using cortisone cream which helped with the itching and removed the heat from my rash but if I put my Fitbit back on the rash returned. Fitbit instructed me to destroy my Fitbit and they would refund my money within 3-4 weeks. So now I have no Fitbit and as yet no refund. My concern is the damage it’s caused to my skin , will continue to happen to others. I’m a member of a fitness group and dozens of people have these very same problems. I’m left with dry patches now though my redness has gone.so it’s taken 4/5 weeks of not wearing my Fitbit for it to start to clear. Two trips to the doctors, two tubes of cream and lots of scraping and scratching and discomfort. My thought was that the flashing lights from the back of the watch that act as the hr sensors is causing heat and blistering directly below the sensor.

The product, in the report: Fitbit Charge HR - Black, Small
I purchased a black Fitbit Charge HR in size small from Kohl’s on March 5, 2015. I wore the fitness tracker for several months at a time, always making sure to follow the care instructions, not wearing the band too tightly, removing the band before showering and occasionally for charging, cleaning it after exercise or sweat, etc. On Sunday November 6, 2016, I suddenly felt an itching sensation underneath the band so I removed it, and found burning red welts and marks across my wrist. I took photos of the irritation, alerted Fitbit, and have not put the band back on. I cared for the irritation according to instructions but the marks are taking more than a week to heal. Fitbit’s customer service team was only able to offer me a refund if I sent the tracker back in my own envelope with their prepaid postage, and also called me the wrong name in their email responses.

The product, in the report: FITBIT Charge Black band fitness tracker
i started using my new FitBitCharge in July, 2016, almost daily, removing mainly just when charging. Today I noticed I had a small rash on the underside of my dominant wrist that included one raised bump that had a small puncture mark and was oozing. It also is itchy at present. At that point I removed the Fitbit and we will see how long it takes for the rash to go away.

The product, in the report: Fitbit is an activity monitoring device that you wear on your wrist. It records movement, sleep, and some models heart rate. You get instant updates on the device itself and regular updates on your Fitbit internet account. It also gently zaps you when you sit too long (1/2hr approx.).
Please investigate the relationship between wearing a Fitbit and wrist pain. At the end of June, I purchased a Fitbit Alta. Approximately 1 week after I started wearing it, I began to experience intermittent excruciating pain radiating from my left wrist. Originally, I thought I had sprained my wrist, but I could not recall any accident I had. I also thought that maybe I had slept on my arm wrong. I did wear the Fitbit when I slept to monitor my sleep pattern. Three weeks later, I lost the Fitbit and did not replace it for approximately 4 weeks. During these 4 weeks, the wrist pain subsided and eventually stopped. I bought a new Fitbit Alta. After wearing it for about 1 week, I began to have the same type of wrist pain that I previously had. I thought this was strange and began to question whether there was a relationship between wearing my Fitbit and the pain so I stopped wearing the Fitbit. The pain began to subside and eventually stopped. Currently I am not wearing it, and have no wrist pain. I did not speak to anyone about my pain, not even my husband. Last week my husband began to experience wrist pain. I was astounded when he described his pain as it was identical to the pain I had experienced. He wears a Fitbit Charge on his left wrist. He is also right hand dominant and does not wear the Fitbit when he sleeps. He has not had any accidents. I thought this was more than coincidence so I began to research the issue on the internet. I found many stories of people who had wrist pain and wore a Fitbit. When I told my husband what I had found, he stopped wearing his Fitbit. His pain has subsided. We are both healthy, active individuals with no arthritis, nerve or bone disease. We had not had a rash or the skin irritation some people complained about. Something disturbing is occurring as a result of wearing a Fitbit and I feel it warrants an investigation of the Fitbit and its connection to wrist pain.

The product, in the report: Fitbit Aria Scale
This product, The Fitbit Aria has been available for several years.
When I purchased one for my wife on line I not give it a thought. When I received it, there was a warning on the back corner of the box stating that it could be dangerous for individuals with pacemakers, and not to use. My wife has a pacemaker.
My concern as a RN is that this product is sold primarily on line by major retailers, Amazon, Walmart, and their own site. None of them warn you of the danger until it is in your hands in your house. There are at least one million pacemaker users in the US and some my not see it on the box if they buy it. At any event it is in your home.
Needless to say, I returned it.
I feel the CPSC should have the manufacturer advertise this danger prior to bringing it into their home to minimize the danger.

Fitbit, you’ve done it again! How your product control is so poor, I can’t imagine. Who is in charge in China anyway? Here’s my 16 month history with FitBit. 1. Fitbit Charge - Loved it but the buckle was defective and it kept falling off. I lost it due to the defective buckle. 2. Fit bit One - worked for a few months then refused to sync. 3. Fitbit One - refused to sync after a week. 4. Fitbit charge - Would not keep a charge. Dead battery. 5. Fitbit charge - Same issue Dead battery. 6. Fitbit Charge HR - After much arguing with Cust. Service they upgraded me. They tried to just give me a coupon for 25% off. I have a huge blister on my arm! Strobe lights on back apparently burn your flesh! And it is deep and slow healing! People, do not buy a Fitbit Charge HR! The website is full of stories of burns. How do they get away with this!!!

I was using the product as a fitness tracker. I did not wear it in the shower as the directions suggested. After about 2 days of wearing I noticed 2 large red spots on either side of my left wrist, the wrist I wear the FitBit on. I kept an eye on it for a few days and the spots got worse, eventually blistering and pulling the skin off. I then moved the watch onto my right wrist for 2 days, but the same spots, in the same location occurred. They are like blistering, chemical burns.

Got a new FitBit Charge and have worn it for about 2 weeks and ended up with a rash on my wrist. It is red, raised and bumpy. I had to take the device off so the rash would heal so it defeats the purpose of having the band - to track steps, heart rate, sleep, etc. I followed the directions and am wearing it correctly - loose enough so a finger can slide underneath it, keep wrist dry, clean band, etc. The rash is where the band part that fastens touches the skin, not where the connectors are touching the skin.

The product, in the report: FitBit Blaze wearable activity tracker with elastomer band
I purchased a Fitbit Blaze activity tracker that you wear like a watch about April 16, 2016. The first time I wore it, I broke out with itching and bumps on the inside of my wrist that I wore it on. I cleaned the band as described on the manufacturers website. I still got a reaction to the band. I went away for a couple weeks and when I returned I decided to try it again. I put it on and after awhile I began itching and had bumps again. I left it on a little longer and began itching inside my underarm as well. I took it off, showered, took allergy medicine and haven’t worn it since. After researching the issue online I see they have had this issue with some of their other model wearable activity trackers and that the CPSC got involved with those. They admitted to me in a phone call today that they have many people they have to respond to due to this type of reaction. They don’t really have any idea, that they will discuss, as to what is causing the issue to multiple customers. This has been going on too long and they need to pull these bands and stop selling this material.

The product, in the report: FitBit Charge HR
I wore a FitBit Flex fitness tracker for almost a year with no incident whatsoever. Then in June 2015, I “upgraded” to a FitBit Charge HR fitness tracker for the continuous heart rate monitoring. After about 4 months of wearing the Charge HR 24/7, I got an electric shock while wearing it - just walking across a friend’s driveway. (Not near water or any other electrical devices). It sent a shooting, painful electric shock down to my fingers and up to my elbow. It was painful enough that I doubled over, grabbed my arm and said, “oh my god, what the hell was that?” I took my Charge off and noticed a red, swollen lump there. Everyone I talked to said there was no way my fitbit did that to me, and that I must have injured my arm some other way and the fitbit just irritated the injury. (I hadn’t injured my arm, and I hadn’t been wearing the charge too tight). Anyway, I discontinued using the fitbit, I went to Urgent Care - they could see the lump, swelling, and redness. They took an x-ray - nothing. They suggested an ultrasound to check the soft tissue, but they couldn’t do the ultra sound; I would have to call my regular doctor (who couldn’t see me for 2 months). By the time I went to my regular doctor and she ordered the ultrasound, the lump and swelling was gone because I had stopped wearing the fit bit. The shock happened in October 2015. The ultrasound was in December 2015. It is now April 2016, and two weeks ago I began wearing the fitbit Charge HR again. I no longer wear it at night, however yesterday I took it off to do some dishes and realized that the lump and swelling are back! Right under the little green light that monitors the heart rate is where my lump is. It’s about the size of a quarter in diameter and you can definitely see it when comparing it to my other wrist. Does this sound similar to your experience? I never wear it too tight, and I’ve never gotten a surface skin irritation - just the electric shock and reoccurring lump where the Charge HR is worn.

I received my Fitbit Charge HR as a Christmas gift in 2015. I have been wearing it daily since then, so about 3 months. Aside from minor skin irritation, i have had no problems. If the area under the band got red or itchy, I wiped the band down with alcohol on my wrist & put OTC Hydrocortisone Cream on & it was fine.
This morning, 3/27/16, I woke up to find a large, fluid filled blister under the led/charging port area. The blister has doubled in size in a matter of 2 hours, resembling a burn.

The product, in the report: Fitbit
I bought a Fitbit a year ago and I wore it for a few weeks until I developed an awful, red, itchy, blistery rash underneath it. I tried taking it off and allowing my skin to rest to no avail. I am not able to wear it looser as my wrist is big enough that I must use the largest hole on the band and it is still tight. When I let the rash heal up and then try to wear the Fitbit again I break out in the rash within hours. I have not been able to use my Fitbit at all since the rash began which makes me very unhappy as I was doing quite well with my exercise etc when I could use it.

The product, in the report: The Fit Bit Flex was brand new when I bought it and I have taken special care to follow all instructions and care listed in the packaging and on the website.
My Fit Bit Flex has given me terrible rashes and burns. I do not wear it while working out, just during daily use in my office job. I do not let lotion, water or soap get under it so I’m not sure why it would be causing this. I took the Fit Bit off for over a week and the burns didn’t get any better, they are bad enough to need medication/ointment. This is terribly disappointing and will probably leave red scarred areas for life.

Red rash on wrist that began approximately 3 months after beginning to wear the fitbit. I took the product off and kept it off for 2 months after a reoccurring rash each time I would put it on. I put the fitbit back on yesterday afternoon and wore it throughout the rest of the day. I wore it over night and when I woke up, I noticed that my wrist was red and irritated. I took the fitbit off this morning and over the next 4 hours the redness on my wrist continued and a rectangle shaped blister formed on the top side of my wrist, in the spot of where my battery was. The blister has remained on my wrist with a burning sensation. I’ve washed the area with soap and water, but the blister and irritation has continued.

The product, in the report: Black size Large Fitbit Surge HR used for tracking daily steps, calorie burn, running, cardio kickboxing.
I received a Fitbit Surge early September 2015 for my birthday. After several weeks of wearing the product on my wrist I noticed some irritation and redness on my wrist. I figured my skin was either sensitive to the material or not used to having a watch on for long periods of time (days). I would stop wearing the watch until the irritation would clear up. Typically this would clear up in about a day. It is now Early January and I can only wear the watch for about a day, 2 days at the max before I have much more severe redness, irritation, bumps, pain and soarness on my wrist. It also now takes 3-4 days to clear up. The irritation is getting much worse and the length of time is much more as well.

I first bought the fitbit charge when my doctors could not provide me with a long term option to monitor my heart trends. In february of 2015 I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome. I bought the fitbit on the advice of some of my peers with the same condition and at the recommendation of my cardiologist so I could learn to recognize symptoms. In the beginning I had no problems with it. The reviews for the product was spot on, and in July the Fitbit saved me by helping my doctors realize that I was in an autonomic crisis. This type of crisis is where things in your body that should operate automatically start to struggle to do so. I was working hard to breathe and laying down while breathing wasn’t an option. Sitting up in the ER with heart palpitations confused the doctors until they brought the cardiologist to look at my fitbit read outs for the day. They started me immediately on IV Saline to help get my blood volume up as I didn’t have enough to go around to all my organs to function properly. I am thankful for my Fitbit and since then have been a regular wearer. However, about two to three months in I noticed slight bumps on my arm. I thought hmmm must be some atopic dermititis. Washed my fitbit with alcohol and my arm and that seems to keep it at bay. However, around thanksgiving I lost my charger and hadn’t been wearing my fitbit, instead relying on an Iphone app that is just as accurate. By this time (thanksgiving) the rash had expanded to the entire site that the fitbit touched. Wasn’t painful or anything, maybe occasionally itchy and seemed purely cosmetic. However, the reason I decided to write to you is many fold. One I read online that there are two causes being investigated for this, one is a nickel allergy and the other is a sweat and electrical reaction that can cause a chemical burn. The reason i am leaning towards chemical burn is that the entire time I have been wearing the band I am on 10mg of Zyrtec once a day that takes care of any allergies I have, including skin ones. Also during the weekly cleaning of my fitbit around the sensor and charging port I would have a LOT of dead skin in the nooks and crannies. I get it im human I shed, but with irritated skin I didnt think that would exactly be the case to shed what my body needs to heal. Second reason is that since I have not worn the Fitbit Charge HR for about 6 weeks now, it has taken that amount of time for any and all of the rash and bumps to subside. However, occasionally when I shower now that arm becomes extremely itchy and breaks out, as if its allergic to the water. NO WHERE ELSE does this happen and I use hypoallergenic soap. I would like to know if this is something that others have reported as a long term side effect and sadly I think I may be switching brands instead of getting a replacement charger. Overall it is an extremely helpful medical product and part of me feels I owe my life to it, but if this rash is more than just a rash, A) I have the right to know, and B) I dont want to hurt my body any more than it already has to struggle with.
Sincerely [REDACTED] Ehlers Danlos Type 3, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, Interstitial Cystitis, A-Typical Migraine, Mutliple Chemical Sensitivies (and other non chemical ones too) Patient

Over the past 4 months, I’ve noticed the skin on my wrist change to a bumpy, red irritation. I went to a dermatologist who felt I was having a reaction to a bracelet. I’ve changed out all of my bracelets, switching them to my other arm--except my Fitbit. Yesterday, I sustained a raised, red burn on my wrist after my workout. I’m convinced it was due to my Fitbit and subsequently have removed the bracelet as of last evening. In doing research on this to see if I was accurate in my concerns, I came across numerous articles and images of people experiencing the same burn as myself. I have pictures of my wrist to support this claim. And after reading everything, I felt it was my responsibility as a consumer to submit this claim and help others to avoid this issue. I’d be happy to answer any questions. [REDACTED]

I bought the Fitbit Charge HR last summer to track my sleeping patterns because I wasn’t sleeping well. I was also into the gym. After wearing for 2 weeks, taking it off for showering and to wash my hands, it gave me a terrible itchy rash on the inside of my wrist. Since taking the product back, I am still having issues with trying to get it to heal properly. I have taken oral steriods, used topical ointments and all, and none have completely healed the rash. It keeps coming back and itching terribly.

The product, in the report: Fitbit Charge HR is a fitness tracker. You wear it in your wrist to count steps, calories burned, floors, heart rate
Ever since I got the Fitbit Charge HR, I have been noticing a weird red rash on the top of my wrist. I don’t wear it tight so I know it’s not that. I read an article this morning about how a tiny bit of sweat can interact with the battery of the CHARGE HR and give you a burn and be toxix. This makes perfect sense because my red “rash” is right under where I charge my fitbit. I belive they need to make fitbits with this in mind so they can prevent this. Sometimes mine gets itchy and it’s no fun. I would like to see them come out with a safer fitbit. This is an everyday issue for me, so for the date below I will put when it started.

I have a Fitbit Charge HR fitness watch. My daughters bought it as a Father’s Day gift for me in 2015. About 3 weeks ago I developed a rash under the watch that soon turned into a blister that then began to itch profusely. I ceased wearing the Fitbit and it took nearly two weeks to subside. I wore the unit on my left wrist and the blistering occurred where the charging port is located. One of my daughters sent me a link to an online investigation conducted by ABC13 Eyewitness News and the symptoms reported by those interviewed in the investigation is identical to what I have experienced. http://abc13.com/760009/

Got a Fitbit Charge HR from Target December of 2015... When wearing the fitbit charge hr I get a red mark “looks like a burn mark” on my wrist in the location where you charge / plug the fitbit... it has been leaving a mark every time I use it... since December 26th, 27th 28th 29... first I thought maybe I had it on to tight “which I know I didn’t but that’s what I thought” it still left mark even when it was loose..
Also the steps that the fitbit claims I took (walked) is not true... I can be standing still and if I move my arms (swing the arm with the fitbit charge hr it shows that I took steps/walked but I never took any steps just moved my arms)

I received a Fitbit Flex Wireless Wristband for Christmas. I started utilizing the Fitbit on Monday, December 28, 2015 as part of a workout which begins between 5:00 - 6:00 am for approximately 1- 1/2 hours. I wore the Fitbit throughout the day. I repeated this routine on Tuesday, December 29, 2015. On Wednesday morning, December 30, 2015, I realized my right arm where the Fitbit was being worn was highly agitated and upon further inspection I saw burn spots creeping beyond where the wristband was. My arm felt heated as if scorched by flame. A cool towel was needed to lessen the ache for now. That’s right--two days.

The product, in the report: The Fitbit Surge is a wearable fitness tracker. It monitors heart rate, connects to GPS, contains a bluetooth radio, and internal batter which charges by connecting to the wall. The charge port is exposed and makes contact with the skin.
In August this year I purchased a Fitbit Surge. I’ve been using it regularly, especially when working out or running. Within the last month I’ve started getting really bad rashes that look a lot like chemical burns. At first I thought it was a fungus and began a meticulous daily cleaning regimen of the Fitbit Surge. Despite this cleaning regimen the rashes return within a day of wearing the device again. These rashes take days to heal effectively making the device unwearable. I’m concerned about the source of these rashes/burns and hopefully something can be discovered.

Starting in September 2015 I noticed the skin that is under the FitBit Flex I have to start turning red. I thought nothing of it at first but it persisted and started to hurt and get raw.
I stopped wearing the FitBit for almost 6 weeks. The rash went away. I put it back on and the rash appeared within one day. FitBit stated it likely needed to be cleaned. I did this. The rash is still there and it is red, inflamed, itchy, and a little painful 4 days after taking the monitor off.
A dirty band is not the issue. Something is in the product or something is reacting to the monitor itself which is causing this rash.

The product, in the report: Fitness tracker with inbuild heart rate monitor
After 8 months of being fine my firbit charge HR has started burning my skin. I have always taken the following steps to ensure good hygeine and to avoid irritation - I keep my charger in the bathroom, so I remove the tracker and place it on charge while I take a shower. During my shower I always pay attention to appropriately clean the area my tracker is worn. - After my shower I remove the tracker from charge and wipe it down then let it sit on the bench to air while I get dressed - I then put the tracker back on - I wear my tracker as per the fitbit recommendations, one fingerspace about my wrist bone as tight as I would wear a regular watch for day-to-day use, I shift it slightly higher and tighter during exercise, and at bed time I loosen it right off so that it can move freely - After exercise I follow the shower routine above.
I only burn directly beneath the charging port on the tracker. I have no irritation anywhere else on my skin from the band or heart rate monitor. I am concerned that the battery may be leaking current?
Fitbit responded to my concerns stating that I was to destroy the tracker and send them a photo of this along with my case details, being in another country I would receive a wire transfer refund in 3-5 working weeks.
To me, this is not acceptable. They’re asking me to destroy the tracker and wait over a month for my money back. They would not hear my concerns regardining the type of irritation I was experiencing and just put it down to my poor hygeine however I know I take the appropriate steps to keep myself and my tracker clean. A new burn starts with two perfect dots in exactly the spot the charging port touches.
I have tried covering the charging port with a plaster and while it helps, I still get burnt.
This needs to be investigated, particularly as fitbit are not interested in my issue or my health or safety.

The product, in the report: Black Charge Fitbit for wrist
I was given a Fitbit Charge as a gift for Mother’s Day 2015. I wore it intermittently throughout the summer. But in September 2015 I started wearing it more. In October I started wearing it 24/7, mainly to keep track of my sleep. Then on November 10, I notice the beginning of a rash on my arm, about one to two inches above my left wrist. It was blistery, red and very itchy. I applied Cortisone for the next several days but the rash remained. On November 14 I saw a doctor who told me it was Contact Dermatitis and he gave me steroid cream to apply. By November 17, the rash was redder, itchier, and not much better. I had been continuing to wear the Fitbit through all of this. I finally went online and googled rash. Immediately, Fitbit rash came up and I realized that the rash was probably from the Fitbit. I took it off my left wrist at that time. Still not realizing the extent that the Fitbit was causing the rash, I wore it the next day for about one hour on my right wrist. Immediately another rash started-mostly now on my right arm and a little more on my left arm . This time it was spread out more, still itchy and more scaly. I then took it off completely. A few days later, I tried just putting the Fitbit in my pocket. But again, more of the rash showed up on my arms. I then stopped wearing it altogether. I called the company and they have offered to refund me the cost of the Fitbit after I return it to them. It has been over a week with absolutely no Fitbit wearing and the rash is finally going away.
