The product, in the report: Mueller Austria Onion Chopper, Green blades, gray top, and clear base. This product is probably 10” in length and the base where it catches the chopped food is probably 2”. This is just a guess, as I do not have the product with me.
I purchased a Mueller Austria onion chopper in November of 2019, since purchasing this product I have cut myself numerous times while trying lock the blade in. I have a scar on my left pointer finger from it sliding into the blade because the locking tab detached, my finger was bleeding for at least an hour.

The Mueller Austria Onion Chopper Pro, which I purchased from Amazon, was defective and caused me moderate-to-severe injury to my finger. I received the Onion Chopper Pro from Amazon on May 14, 2018, but did not start using it until a few weeks later. On June 18, 2018, I was reading and following the directions to change the blades to the larger size. As instructed, I tried to “lock” the blades by moving the switch forward with my fingers, but the switch came off and my finger got sliced by the blade. The blade cut deep into the tip of my finger and fingernail. It was the most painful thing that I have ever experienced and the bleeding wouldn’t stop, so I immediately went to the nearest urgent care center to get treated. I received pain killers and my finger was treated and bandaged uptight.

On March 8th, 2020 I was making chili. I decided to utilize a new chopping tool that I had recently purchased from Amazon- the Mueller Austria Onion Chopper Pro. I took it out of the box, read the instructions and cleaned it. I then got my onion ready and attempted to use the device. The blade was “locked” so I tried to unlock it gently. It would not budge. I tried again. Still nothing. The third time, I tried a little bit more forcefully. My thumb could not free the lock position, but the momentum sliced off a chunk of my thumb on my right hand. I grabbed paper towels and assessed the situation. My husband, a trained first responder, looked at my injury and started calling urgent care locations. (This was the start of COVID-19 right before schools shut down, so I did not want to go to the emergency room.) After multiple unsuccessful phone calls, (urgent care will not stitch the top of a finger because of nerves, tendons, etc.), we went to the emergency room. Four hours, a shot of Lidocaine, and 8 stitches later I left the emergency room with a huge, uncomfortable bandage on my thumb. I, to this day, still do not have full feeling in part of the top of my thumb.

I was chopping an onion in our mueller chopper 4 blade pro and at some point the locking mechanism snapped off, and at that time the handle moved and I cut my thumb which cause quite a bit of bleeding.

When i was using the onion chopper the blade that cuts everything kept “jumping” out even though it was secure “locked”. I though the onion might be to big or i was using it wrong, but it did it also with a tomato, and then when my husband used it it did it again. Its a good chopper for easy cooking but its quite dangerous in any easy distraction.

this is a veggie chopper, both my wife and I have cut ourselves on it while attempting to clean the knife portion. After my second cut we just tossed it, not worth the risk of a more serious injury.
Because we are reading from Amazon that they believe there may be danger I feel compelled to step up and voice the same concern. We’ve had choppers in the past and never had cut issues like this. I guess I didn’t pipe up originally because I didn’t think anyone would listen.
We did not experience anything other than multiple minor cuts to our fingers thankfully.

The blades are supposed to lock in place and vegetables can be chopped when placed in the mechanism and pushed down on. But the lock slipped and my hand was grated across the blades.
I was using the chopping tool to cut vegetables in the kitchen. The locking mechanism slid off after a few chops so I went to secure it and it completely came off and my hand slid across the blades. I sustained several lacerations to my right index finger. My finger is still not back to normal 10 weeks and 4 days later and interferes with my work place activities.

I was at home cooking and I was chopping onions in the big chunks as I normally do. I did the first set then the second. When I went to press down, the chopping lever came off and slid backwards because I was applying pressure and my hand slipped onto the grater and it sliced some square imprints into the bottom part of my hand where the palm is. I had to stop cooking and dress my hand. I am a nurse so I knew how to care for it. I went back to cooking and couldn’t figure out how it came apart. It looked like there should have been a rod to keep it from happening. After I saw how dangerous it was, I threw the product and all of its attachments away. I couldn’t risk it injuring anyone else in my family. I did not request a replacement because I could see it happening again and did not want to risk getting hurt twice

While I was using the vegetable dicer by Mueller a very unfortunate incident happened. While dicing the tomatoes for veggie soup, the top part of the dicer snapped out of the tabs and caught my palm inside of the squared blades causing a severe cut. The cut was fairly deep and in a square pattern, which seemed to be worse than a traditional smooth straight cut because there was more pressure involved due to the squared design causing much more pain than if it were a straight fast cut. I am glad to see that something is being done about this. Unfortunately it was too late for me to return the product. The dicer now sits in the lost corner of the kitchen as the family is now afraid to use it due to my severe cut.

On the very first day that I used this product, I went to change the attachment and the plastic lock came undone as I was locking in the new blade. My finger was shoved straight into the grid of blades and I sliced my thumb almost halfway down the nail. I was able to bandage it up quickly and did not have to go to the doctors, but I noticed that the blade locking mechanism design was flawed since you basically push toward the blade so if it doesn’t lock properly you’ll slice yourself. I’ve been super careful since, but Amazon informed me of this product recall.

I was using the Muelle vegetable chopper to chop onions and green peppers. I was putting the blade on and went to lock it and the whole button came off and my right thumb skidded across the blade and cut my thumb. The laceration to my thumb needed 5 stitches.

Locking tab came lose on the Mueller chopper while switching blades, causing a minor, bleeding laceration on the tip of my right index finger. Only basic first aid was required and there is no permanent injury. I used a heated soldering iron subsequently, to fuse the parts of the locking tab together. I have not had any further incident, though I seldom switch the cutting blades.

One evening I was attempting to put the blades back into the chopper to use. The lock was not engaging. My hand slipped and I sliced open my thumb. I had to have 14 stitches. It was a very painful bloody injury.

I purchased the mueller vegetable chopper on Amazon. After the second use I was chopping onions and the top slid off and the onion was stuck which sliced my finger. 2 weeks later my husband used to slice onions and the same thing happened but his cut was deeper so I had him throw it out. He had to get his skin glued back together. I saw the note from amazon that it was recalled and wasn’t surprised at all but it’s very concerning as the slice could’ve been a lot deeper.

In November of 2019 my husband was using the muller vegetable chopper that has now been recalled to cut onions. The blade lock slipped out and my husband suffered a deep laceration to his left thumb. The cut was very deep and I urged him to seek urgent care. He chose not to go. I am a nurse and ended up taking care of the wound at home. It took 3’weeks for it to fully heal and now my husband still complains of it feeling numb.

While trying to load the blade into the food chopper, the Locking mechanism broke. It had somehow slipped off the track, popping off the unit completely while I was trying to set it in place, and my hand slipped forward and my thumb slammed into the blades. The force of the impact caused the blade to go straight into my thumb and into my nail, the cut was nearly a 1/4 inch deep. I have been afraid to use it since.
