    Today, my mother used the Mueller Onion Copper Pro to chop some vegetables for a dish she was preparing. Part of the chopper broke and fell into the dish. My mother didn’t see the broken metal. She noticed after using the chopper that a metal piece was missing. I found the broken piece in the food that I ate. Thank goodness I didn’t get cut or swallow the broken metal. This chopper was bought from Amazon. I left a post on their website titled “buyer beware” to warn other shoppers about this defective product.

    When I chopped onions the blades never stayed in locked positions. The blades always popped open out of the machine or flipped on the other side.

    I was using the Mueller Austria Onion Chopper Pro to cube sweet potatoes in the largest grate size. I was attempting to lock the blade into place. The locking button came off of the piece and the force I was using to apply the lock caused the index finger of my right hand to become impaled upon the grate. It did not require stitches however, my index finger can no longer point straight which indicates a potential tendon damage.

    The small locking piece that keeps the blade in place broke while trying to lock the blade in place. My fingers shot forward because the lock piece required a lot of force it seemed. My ring finger was cut really deeply during this process, I thought I might need stitches. But I just kept pressure on it until it stopped bleeding.

    Locking mechanism on both of my choppers purchased through Amazon have not been staying properly locked. One of the locks cracked and broke so I ended up throwing it away and purchasing another. The lock on my current chopper is cracked but still intact. No injuries have resulted at this time but it seems unsafe to use.     Last week I went to use our onion chopper. It turns out the locking mechanism had broken. I found the part and tried putting it back together. I thought I had it so I put the crosscut metal piece in and was trying to lock it in place. In the process the side of my thumb went right into the little metal grate and I cut myself. It wasn’t terrible and it’s mostly healed but I got an email from Amazon about the recall and was surprised how timely it was! I figured I may as well report it.

    After I cleaned the blade, I went to put the blade back in the device and while pushing the lock closed , the lock came off of the device. My finger was forced into the blade cutting a cross section into my finger nail and ripping half of it off. I did not seek medical treatment, but it did take a month for my fingernail to grow back.

    With the Mueller Onion Chopper Pro, I have cut my fingers twice on the blades. The cuts bled for a long while and one kept reopening. I would rather have a different chopper, all together. The blade is so sharp that if I just lightly touch the blade, I end up with a laceration. I had to label the top of the chopper with a note saying, “Do not touch the blades”.

    The product, in the report: Description: This recall involves models of the Mueller Austria Onion Chopper Pro, model number M-700. The gray and green choppers come with two stainless steel discs, 4-cup clear container and cleaning brush. Only onion choppers that have a locking tab that can be pushed towards the blades in order to properly lock into place are included in this recall. The Mueller Austria logo is printed on the side of the chopper. The model number is located on the product itself or on the chopper’s packaging.

    I cut my finger tips 3 times by using this product. 1 tims, when i tried to lock (the blade lock), slikped. 2 times just using this producct generally speaking. At the same time, I learned that not only this product but other products for same purpose has problem easily cut our fingers & lots of product comes with gloves to avoid that. So i just thought I just have to be careful. But since i saw this recall, i recoznized it’s not onyl me. It really cut deep. So it was really hard to stop bleeding. freaked me out during quarantine. I only use when i really have to use due to that problem.

    Exactly what happened on the recall notice happened to me. I was pressing / trying to move the locking tab into place, and it snapped off. I used my left thumb to move it as I am right handed and I was holding the top arm in place with my right hand. The tab came loose and my left thumb snapped violently down onto the blade and sliced right into my thumb. It cut so deep that it cut into my thumb nail.

The Mueller Austria logo is printed on the side of the chopper. The model number is located on the product itself or on the chopper’s packaging.

    While pushing hard on the ‘difficult to adjust’ locking tab to lock it, the locking tab snapped off and I drove my thumb into the sharp blades and took a significant chunk of flesh out of my thumb which bled significantly and took a while to heal because it wasn’t just a slice but a full chunk taken out of my thumb. It was immediately apparent that the design was faulty. This was nearly eight months ago and when I went on the product’s amazon page that night to see if anyone else had a similar issue, I wasn’t surprised to see that they had already updated the design so the locking tab moved sideways instead of towards the blades. I am surprised that it took so long to recall the product but happy that it is being done finally.

    On December 16, 2018 I was making breakfast for my husband and I. I removed a smaller chopping blade from the Mueller Vegetable chopper (SKU B01HC7BNJA) and attempted to replace it with a larger blade set to chop an apple. As I was inserting and locking the new blade into place the locking mechanism broke off, causing my right thumb to slide over the blade. The locking mechanism locks the blade in place when pressure is applied towards the blade, so when the mechanism broke off my hand slipped forward onto the blade. Because the cut was deep I went to my local urgent care where I received five stitches.

    I recently received a safety recall for a chopper that I purchased on Amazon. About two weeks ago, I was using the chopper and as I was attempting to lock the blade in place, I did not know that part of the locking mechanism had fallen off and my had slid across the blade and I ended up with a deep laceration to my thumb. Once I saw the recall and noted that the exact same injuries were occurring with others, I decided to report my incident as well. I probably should have gone in for stitches when the incident occurred but thankfully the wound is healing. I shudder to think about how the incident could have happened to one of my children. I hope the new locking mechanism completely takes care of the problem.

    After I cleaned the onion chopper, I went to put the blade part back into the chopper and lock it, and when I did so the locking mechanism flew off in my right pointer finger struck the blades. It caused about a half inch cut on my pointer finger, which I had to wrap for about one week. It took about two months for me to regain full feeling back in that finger tip. I should have received stitches at that time, but the out-of-pocket medical expense was too much to consider going to the hospital for.

    I do love this product however I severely cut my thumb almost cutting the end of it off by trying to lock the blade into the unit approximately two months ago this happened. I probably should have gone to the emergency room and gotten stitches however I made the decision to manage the injury myself the locking mechanism broke I have not been able to repair it therefore I can no longer lock the blades into the unit. I do still use this product although it scares me every time because I don’t think I’ve ever been cut that deeply almost losing the end of my thumb.

    I recently purchased the Mueller Pro Series Multi Chopper/Slicer to help me around the kitchen because I like to have dinner party’s almost every weekend. However I made a laceration on my hand because I was setting the item up. The Large Dicer is very sharp. I picked it up not knowing which side was sharp and when I grabbed it my fingers were cut up. It hurted so badly I couldn’t work for a week. I am a residential carpenter and I work with my hands a lot. I had to give up a $2000+ Dollar job because of this issue. On a separate occasion my mom was using the Mueller Chopper and pierced her hand when grabbing the safety holder. It’s has no warning on it. I do NOT wish to use this anymore. I have kids around and I would hate if they were to get injured by this.

    On Christmas Morning I was using the onion chopper to assist with my meal preparation. I went to lock the small chopping blade into place and my thumb slid across the blades.
