    Brought a Whirlpool flexible cooktop 30 inch 4 burner gas range from Lowes. Delivered October 4th 2025. Have been repaired already in September several components replaced. The front glass on oven door keep coming away front of oven when opening. Safety hazard held on by 2 brackets and 2 screws at base. Glass have fully slide out if not secured. Has happened twice now being repaired again. Grates also have shocked my tenant when removed. Reported to Whirlpool sent technician out 4 times to repair instead of replacing or refund money.

    The product, in the report: This is what I feel is a typical household oven/range. It has controls the front of the unit that face up, roughly a 80 degree angle to the floor.

    I watched a cat walk the top of my range and momentarily slip on the control surface and then quickly regained their composure.

    During this incident, a burner was turned on at maximum flame and ignited.

    There was a pan of bacon grease leftover from the morning breakfast as well. Had i not been home this would have caused a grease fire and potentially a full structure fire.

    Took my dog on an hour and a half walk. Came home to house filled with natural gas. This has happened before but caught it within minutes. The knobs on my Whirlpool slide in gas range are on the front of the unit. If you brush against the knobs it can turn on the gas. It has a 10% area before you get to the ignition spot. So plenty of gas is pouring out. Thankfully it’s just my husband and myself living in the home. We are a retired couple. I called Whirlpool and they sent out a repair man to check it out. But it was determined that it was safe. It’s not safe.

    My whirlpool range model number WEG750H0HZ2 burner knobs accidentally get slightly turned on enough to let gas escape.

    (10/6/2026) I contacted Whirlpool to try to find what child protection I could purchase for this product. They were rude and just said I would have to look at [REDACTED]. It is really a safety hazard because the gas gets turned on just enough to let gas escape and we don’t even know it until someone smells it. Sometimes, guests or other family members take something out of the microwave above the stove and it gets turned on. I am 79 now and I don’t smell like I used too. My children are wanting me to get rid of it and spend another $2500 - $3000 for a new one.

    Even AI is having a hard time finding a product that will work on this range.

    Please help keep others safe….especially those with children and us old people!

    The product, in the report: Whirlpool 30 inch freestanding gas range with stainless steel finish and five burner control knobs. The safety issue involves the original burner control knobs, part number W11510456.

    I experienced a safety issue with a Whirlpool gas range, model WFG550S0LZ4. The original burner control knobs, marked W11510456, have been failing progressively since the range was relatively new. The first original knob failed within the first year of normal household use. Additional original knobs have failed over time, and three original knobs have now failed.

    The failure occurs in the internal hub of the knob that engages the gas valve shaft. I personally observed a failed knob slipping on the gas valve shaft. The knob indicated that the burner was OFF even though the gas valve had not fully returned to the OFF position and gas was still flowing. This is how I discovered that the knob was slipping.

    I verified that the gas valve shaft itself works properly by removing the failed knob and installing a known good knob on the same shaft. With a good knob installed, the valve operates normally and returns fully to OFF. This indicates that the problem is with the knob and its engagement with the valve shaft.

    The range does not provide a separate visual light or indicator showing that gas is flowing when this occurs. When the failed knob indicates OFF, there is no appliance provided visual warning that the gas valve may still be open and releasing unignited gas. I discovered the continued gas flow through sensory observation rather than through a warning provided by the appliance.

    No injury occurred. However, I am concerned that this failure creates a serious safety hazard because the visible position of the knob can disagree with the actual position of the gas valve. A user can reasonably believe that the burner is OFF and leave the area while unignited gas continues to enter the home. This could create a potential fire, explosion, or gas exposure hazard.

    Three original knobs have now failed on this range, with the first failure occurring within the first year. I have retained the failed knobs and have photographs of the knobs, the internal knob connection, and the range model information. I am reporting this because I believe the repeated knob failures and the ability of a failed knob to indicate OFF while gas continues to flow should be evaluated as a product safety issue.

    The product, in the report: gas range oven.

    The handle on the Whirlpool gas range initially popped out on the left side August 6 because the glass separated from the frame in that area. This was not simply a loose or detached handle. The glass itself had separated from the frame, causing the handle to come out. The following day, the remaining glass suddenly and spontaneously shattered into thousands of pieces on its own. Majority of glass was in very tiny pieces .Luckily my cat and I while in the kitchen did not get injured. Contacted [REDACTED] twice by certified letter. They refused to contact me back. Whirpool consumer division i contacted and they would not replace the glass or service. They claimed is warranty issune .It’s a safety issue. There was no intentional impact or misuse of the glass that caused it to shatter.

    My dog jumped up to steal food and the turned the stove on, started a fire. The knob is too easy to turn. You are supposed to push in the knob before you can turn it, but it takes so little movement to turn, it can happen even when you just bump a knob. Also, the piece inside the knob that seats the control stick is made of plastic and breaks easily, so the knobs wobble about. This causes the knobs to turn even more easily. It’s dangerous.

    I am reporting two separate dangerous incidents involving my Whirlpool gas cooktop, Model G7CG3064XS00, Serial Number D34505675. First incident was June 15, 2026. I (the homeowner) was cooking on the front-left burner when a startling and sudden very loud pop was heard and the front-left control knob was forcefully ejected from the cooktop. Smoke came from the control area beneath the knobs and there was a strong burning odor which I would describe as electrical burning order. The local fire department responded and inspected the appliance, unplugged it and shut off the gas supply. Second incident occurred July 17, 2026. I was cooking on a different burner (back-right) when the exact same front-left control knob was again forcefully ejected with a sudden very loud pop. The front-left burner was completely OFF at the time. Smoke again came from the control area and there was a strong electrical burning odor. The local fire department responded a second time and documented the model and serial number in their official incident report. No injuries occurred. However, the force with which the knob was ejected was significant enough that had anyone been standing directly in its path injury could have resulted. The cause of both incidents remains undetermined after two separate technician inspections. Whirlpool’s own authorized technician could not identify the cause and the service report states only that the incident could not be replicated. Whirlpool has advised me to continue using the appliance despite the cause remaining completely undetermined.

    We purchased a Whirlpool Double gas oven range Model WGG745S0FH02/ Serial # DA4114053 on August 2025 at a local Appliance dealer. The gas knob controls for the cooktop are in the front of the range. On several occasions my wife or myself would brush up against the front knobs inadvertently which would release gas but igniter wouldn’t engage and if not noticed gas would continue to fill the room. Thank god we don’t have any children in the home with this bad design flaw. some time ago a house nearby exploded due to a faulty kitchen gas appliance which killed someone we knew, which is why we’re so concerned with this problem. Thankfully no one has been injured as of yet. Also, carbon monoxide is a possible concern! We called Whirlpool on 7/20/2026 and explained our concern and their answer was to be more careful. I’ve researched this model and found quite a few people have and are having the same issue. Thank you for looking into this issue for us, we appreciate it.

    Whirlpool Gas Range Model WFG320MOMSO. At least 5 different occasions the knobs on the front of the range have been found partially on. They can be easily bumped, particularly unknowingly, when standing next to the stove or even when cleaning the exterior surfaces. The knobs can turn slightly which allows gas to escape but not ignite as the knob is not turned far enough to ignite. This is considered the Pre-light release.

    Yesterday, i came home finding that the knob had been unknowingly turned and gas had been leaking into the house all day creating a very dangerous situation. I had not been operating the stove and do not know how the knob was turned. After careful analysis it only requires a slight bump to turn the knob. All [REDACTED] homes in my neighborhood are built with the same appliance that is only 2 years old.

    The whirlpool stove I purchased last year poses a burn danger, the venting for the oven is located right on the contpanel and the panel right side gets very hot to the touch , enough to cause a burn. In addition to that the broiler is located at the bottom of the stove,it is a very tight and extremely hot, you have to kneel to the floor to use the broiler and it is very easy to get burned.

    The product, in the report: Gas stove

    The consumer recently had her kitchen remodeled. During the remodeling process, contractors moved the stove from its original position. Upon moving the appliance, they discovered that the floor underneath the stove was burnt and appeared melted. The consumer does not know when this damage occurred, as the burn marks were hidden beneath the stove and had not been visible prior to the remodel. Contractors placed the stove back in its original location while the consumer investigates the cause of the damage. The consumer is concerned that the burn marks may indicate a malfunction posing a fire and explosion hazard. She is unsure whether continued use of the stove is safe, given that a properly functioning stove should not generate enough heat to melt or burn the flooring.

    The consumer is very worried that this could be a potential fire hazard, overheating, or malfunction that could lead to combustion or explosion.

    No injuries have been reported.

    The consumer requests that the CPSC review the incident and advise whether the stove presents a fire or explosion hazard, and whether further action (inspection, replacement, recall information, etc.) is recommended.

    Product Description: Whirlpool Gas Range Model Number: WGG745S0FS10 Serial Number: DF0603510 Date of Incident/Discovery: 6/2/2026 Description of the Safety Hazard:The appliance experienced a critical defect causing uncombusted propane to leak directly into the kitchen, creating an immediate risk of fire, explosion, and carbon monoxide poisoning. The range is only 3/4 months old. A Whirlpool-authorized service provider (Service Ticket: [REDACTED]) inspected the unit on 6/9/2026, then attempted to repair the gas leak on 6/17/2026, but the repair was unsuccessful. The appliance remains a severe safety hazard in the home. Description of Injury or Damage: No physical injuries or property fire occurred because the hazard was detected by our propane company, and the household gas supply valve to the unit has been shut off to mitigate further risk. However, the household has been left without a safe, functioning primary cooking appliance for about 3 weeks. Manufacturer Response: Whirlpool was notified immediately. Despite the active safety hazard and a failed initial repair attempt, the manufacturer has extended the timeline, requiring an additional 1 to 2 weeks for parts to arrive and a second service call to be scheduled. The manufacturer has denied our request for replacement/refund, as well. This forces the household to harbor a defective, gas-leaking appliance for nearly a month.

    On 12/15/2024, I had baked some barbecue ribs in the oven and turned off the oven. I had just taken out a tray from the bottom rack. While standing in front of the oven as I placed the ribs on top of the stove, the outer glass of the oven exploded in front of me. Luckily, I had dish towels hanging from the handle and cushioned the blow. I wasn’t injured even though I was wearing shorts at the time. I had just purchased this oven in 2021. The warranty has lapsed, and I had to pay the full price to replace it through Sears, thats where I had purchased it.

    My Whirlpool gas stove has unknowingly turned on multiple times in the last 4 years. The knobs can be brushed upon lightly without knowing and the gas will leak. The only way to know is the strong propane smell. I have called Whirlpool several times about this problem and even told them that this was a potential danger to their customers but to no avail. I also had a service man come to our house to look at the problem and was told there wasnt anything they could do. I will never buy another gas stove with knobs in front and am very disappointed with Whirlpool for not protecting their customers.

    Whirlpool gas range free standing the knobs are on the front and they do not have a locking mechanism on them so I walk past the stove and ever so slightly brush the knobs and they turn on letting gas out into my house and they have ignited and that really scared me because my back was to the stove top and my hair had been burnt by it igniting. This is a very very real problem caused by the knobs and it needs to recalled before someone gets killed or severely burned. The inner layer glass (the middle layer since it’s three pane) on the oven door shattered spontaneously. I’d like to report the incident since it’s during a normal use and the temperature was 275 F.

    I purchased a new Whirlpool range on 5-2024. During the first year I cut my finger on the front bottom of the range when retrieving a noodle I dropped on the floor. I thought maybe there was one isolated part of the range that was sharp. Just recently I was cleaning the floor by the right bottom of the range and as I ran my finger near the edge to wipe I sliced my right index finger and it was bleeding a lot.     Referring to the instruction manual, I turned on the self-cleaning feature on our Whirlpool gas range and after it finished performing the function, a thick layer of white ash fell on our furniture and a chemical odor permeated our house.     Incident: While preheating the oven to approximately 350F to warm pies, the outer tempered-glass door spontaneously exploded outward without any impact, misuse, or apparent cause. No gas leak or external force was involved. The explosion caused flying glass shards to move a high speeds throughout the kitchen.

    Injury: [REDCATED] sustained a laceration to her left pinky finger. Due to her prescribed anticoagulant medication, bleeding was profuse and continued for approximately 20 minutes despite direct pressure and bandaging. The injury was treated at home with gauze and pressure; no emergency room visit was required. Photos of the fresh injury after cleaning and cessation of bleeding available.

    Whirlpool Response: Whirlpool sent a technician who inspected the range and ruled out gas leak or misuse, but stated the cause was “indeterminate” (technician report attached). Whirlpool initially offered only a prorated discount and refused full replacement or compensation. After escalation, their counsel ([REDACTED]) requested a purchase receipt (unavailable due to builder-installed unit) and later offered $1,000, which was rejected as insufficient.

    I recently moved into a new home. The appliances were all purchased by the builder including the oven/stove/range. Ive noticed when cooking in the natural gas oven that it the door gets extremely hot, as well as the pull out drawer, and all the way to the top of the range where the clock is. Ive received first and second degree burns pulling out the drawer on the bottom when trying to get more trays to cook with. I noticed several other consumers from my neighborhood posted the same exact thing and one lady posted she got second degree burns on her calf/ankle and her child also has been burned. I have been a firefighter since 1996 and never know the whole outside of ovens to get this hot. One neighbor posted the outside of the bottom drawer got to 157 degrees F while their oven was heating up using a heat gun. Ive only ever experienced this when there are actually kitchen fires or after a fire. I decided to file a complaint due to it happening to several others in my neighborhood and myself.

    WHAT HAPPENED:

    My spouse spilled water on the cooktop surface of our Whirlpool slide-in gas range (Model WEG750H0HZ0, Serial Number RX0233026) during normal kitchen use. Immediately after the water contacted the touchscreen control panel, the control panel malfunctioned and became unresponsive. The gas oven then activated by itself without anyone touching any controls and began heating uncontrollably. We were unable to turn off the oven using any of the controls. I had to leave work immediately to assist in managing the emergency. We were forced to disconnect both the electrical power supply and gas supply to stop the oven from continuing to heat.

    HOW INJURIES COULD HAVE OCCURRED: The self-activating oven could have caused fire, explosion, severe burns to anyone near the appliance, or carbon monoxide poisoning if left unattended. Water exposure to kitchen appliances is routine and foreseeable; this design defect creates unreasonable danger during normal household use.

    The internal glass of my Whirlpool oven door exploded mid-cycle while baking bread at 350 degrees. The stove was purchased brand new in May 2025 and has never been run through a self-cleaning cycle. The oven was being used under normal conditions at the time of the incident. My young children were home and had just stepped out of the kitchen moments before the explosion occurred. Sharp glass shards were scattered all across my kitchen. My husband cleaned up the glass to keep our children safe, but when a Whirlpool service technician later opened the door, more glass fell out. All six loaves of bread and the ingredients I used were completely ruined- a total waste of time and money. The Whirlpool technician confirmed this was not user error and was due to a faulty internal glass panel. Whirlpool’s corporate office has refused to offer a refund or replacement, insisting only on repairing the unit.     We have a Whirlpool range- model #W10425156B. The burner knobs have no safety controls. The range sits below a microwave. When putting food in the microwave, it is not uncommon to slightly lean against the burner knobs. Unfortunately, this causes the knob to slightly turn, without being noticed, resulting in the range emitting gas. This has happened on numerous occasions, the most recent being yesterday, 10/3/2025. While on the 3rd floor of my house, I thought I smelled gas. My spouse, who was on the 1st floor, didn’t smell it. Sure enough, one of the burner knobs was slightly turned & gas was being distributed throughout the residence. This is a very dangerous situation to the point that we informed our family members that if they find us dead in the house, look to the range as the culprit. In one incident, a grate slipped and struck the control knobs, turning on a burner without my knowledge. This caused gas to fill my house, creating a severe risk of fire, explosion, or poisoning. The knobs are also loose and broken, compounding the danger.The grates on this unit are unstable and do not stay in place. One incident caused a grate to slip, strike the control knobs, and accidentally turn on a burner. This left gas flowing into the house undetected, creating a severe fire, explosion, and poisoning hazard. The knobs are also loose and broken, increasing the risk. Whirlpool customer support acknowledged the issue (ticket # [REDACTED]) but refused to provide a remedy beyond offering a 20% discount on a new appliance, which does not address the existing hazard. This product poses a serious risk and should be investigated for recall.

We’ve only been in the home since 4/2025-5 months as it was newly built & the Whirlpool range was part of the home package. We also noticed that the entire front of the range gets extremely hot when in use. I called Whirlpool & was told due to the nature of stainless steel, this is normal!! I’m 64 y.o. & have never had a gas range like this. Do not buy this product, especially if there are children in the house. They will get burned. Extremely disappointed with Whirlpool.

    I recently purchased the Whirlpool 30” 5.1 cu. ft. White Gas Range (Model WFG505M0MW0). The design of the lightbulb inside the oven was dubious from the start as it was completely exposed, bound to break eventually from a tray hitting it. But it was worse than expected with the lightbulb bursting and scattering glass shards all over the inside of the oven after running the oven for 40 minutes at 375 degF the first time the oven was used the week after purchasing. This is a safety hazard and should not be sold to consumers as is. Fortunately, no one was injured as the door was closed, but there were glass shards on the food that was baking at the time.

    While using my Whirlpool Gas Range (Model WFG114SWB0) (SN VE22404820) in my home I noticed the front of the range became very hot to the touch. In addition, i could no longer control the flow of gas to the range using the knob as it had become stuck. At this time I realized a fire has started underneath the lid of the range. I immediately pulled the range away from the wall and turned the gas supply vale to the off position to stop the flow of gas and extinguish the fire. Upon further inspection, I noticed the gas supply tube to the burner had cracked and caught fire at the location of the crack. No injury occurred.

    Whirlpool 5.1 cu. ft. Freestanding Gas Range with UnderOven Broiler

    While I (36 year old female) was baking chicken at 425F the front glass door of my Whirlpool oven suddenly shattered without warning. The glass broke into tiny shards across my kitchen floor and some on the countertops, sizzling on impact on the tile floor. I had to pick a few small glass shards from my hand and feet, which I had to remove myself.

    This is the second safety issue Ive experienced with this same model. In 2018, shortly after purchasing the oven, the glass door became dangerously hot to the touch. Whirlpool replaced the unit with the same model, but the overheating issue appears to have persisted, ultimately causing the glass to shatter.

    The oven was being used for routine cooking at the time of the incident. Safety hazard extending to my family of 6, including 4 children and 3 pets.

    I have a Whirlpool gas cooktop with knobs with part number W11366438. They are plastic and crack after little time. I am on my third set at $200 per set of knobs. When I research it a lot of people have the same issue and their solution is to zip tie the bottom of the knob together to tighten it. I have done this because it is at the point I can’t keep replacing knobs at $200. I am concerned with the safety of these knobs as they slip due to the cracks and could cause a gas leak. I have contacted WP several times on the issue and they don’t seem to have an solutions other than to purchase more knobs. I feel like they need to have more durable knobs that won’t crack or melt

    I purchased a Whirlpool gas range Model #WFG505M0MS0 FROM COSTCO ON 7-3-24. OnTHANKSGIVING DAY, 11-28-2024, we were cooking a 14 pound ham in a [REDACTED] 10” x 14” baking dish. When it was done, we pulled the rack forward to the shelf stop to lift it out, when the back of the rack poppped up over the coned shaped stop. This caused the front of the dish to drop downward sharly causing the hot dish with liquids to slide out of the oven. Fortunately we caught the dish before it hit the floor. Could have caused servere burns. Because of the coned shaped rack stops, all 5 rack levels were checked and with a few pounds on the front of thee rack, the back suddenly pops up dropping the front down dumping the dish out. If the stops would have been made square instead of cone, the hazard would have been eliminated. PEOPLE WILL BE BURNED DUE TO THIS DESIGN DEFECT. I tried to call ALL the numbers available online for Whirlpool and never could speak to a live human. Thank you for your attention in this matter.

    On 28 September 2024, I purchased from Lowes in Canton, Ohio, and was delivered the Whirlpool range model number WFG535S0LZ, and was professionally installed on 05 October 2024. Upon the trial of my new range, I noticed that one corner of the range was really hot when I preheated the oven. I immediately shut the oven off and tried to see what the issue was. I had then noticed that the oven door was not properly shutting. So I called Whirlpool and set up a service visit. Platinum Factory Service visited my house on 28 October 2024 and replaced the hinges on the range. Afterward, the technician stated that the whole range is defective and is out of specification. The technician then sent the photos to Whirlpool and stated that replacement unit is needed. I contacted Whirlpool a week later and they stated that they call me a week later. A week went by and I contacted Whirlpool again and still did not commit to a replacement, that I needed to work with Lowes for a replacement because Whirlpool stated that is was shipping damage. So I immediately contacted Lowes customer care to remedy the issue. The Lowes had to contact Whirlpool, albeit while I was still on the phone with Lowes, and thats when Whirlpool stated that It was a defective unit and that I needed a replacement. Whirlpool then ordered Platinum Factory Service to deliver a new range. On 17 November 2024, Platinum Factory Service notified me that Whirlpool no longer wanted to provide a replacement. In short, Whirlpool sold a defective range/oven that is extremely dangerous and could pose a fire hazard to my house, and is unwilling to replace the unit, violating the Consumer Product Safety Act as well as the state-level Ohio Consumer Product Safety Act.

    Whirlpool gas oven door shattered when Gas technician was opening the door. Oven is about 2 1/2 years old. purchased on 04/22/2022. Technician stated he has not seen anything like that in the years he has been working. [REDACTED] Gas Tech was doing a safety check of the fireplace in the downstairs area. He came up stairs to the kitchen and he stated when he went to open the oven door the glass shattered. Whirlpool sent out a repair person and stated they didn’t see any defect in the oven?? so they want replace the door or the oven. They did pay for the service call for Lake appliance. they gave me a quote of $900 to repair the oven. So I don’t know why this happened.

    I recognized that one of the burners on our new propane gas cook top (Whirlpool model WCG97US6HS00 serial DB2004779) would sometimes go out leaving unburned gas to fill the countertop. When a knob was touched, causing a spark, the countertop would light up with a minor explosion. Whirlpool sent a repairman who adjusted the burners which fixed the immediate problem. However, in his presence, I tested some of the other burners and readily recognized that it was easy to turn a burner on without igniting it, leaving unburned gas to enter the room. I expressed my concern and he simply said that some of these units do that. I was rather shocked at that as I could picture small children or memory impaired adults accidentally doing this. I again contacted Whirlpool and was told that was all they could do. I saw on the news where a house exploded with one killed and another severely burned. Could they have had one of these cooktops? It made me want to voice this concern. I have installed a gas detector so I am not concerned about my wife and I. However, I am concerned about others across the nation that might have one of these types. A friend has a similar LG brand and it cannot be turned on without ignition. It looks like that would be required on all of these.

    4/10/2024: The oven was in use when it overheated. The consumer and his wife noticed a burning odor before any flames occurred and they quickly turned the oven off. The heat burned off the paint a part that was adjacent to the temperature sensor.

    The consumer called the manufacturer and spoke with their parts department, as well as their corporate office. The corporate office would not provide any assistance. The parts department said they no longer manufacture that part.

    The consumer is concerned that this presents a substantial fire hazard to homeowners.

    My carbon Monoxide dector began to alarm so the fire department was sent to my home by my [REDACTED] service representative said firemen detected a reading of 28 and began a search to find the source and discovered that the element(s) on my Whirlpool Gold Series double oven gas range was the source stating that the elements were the reason and promptly disconnected the stove from the gas line At the time of the incident I has just finished making some jam and both the front burners were being used one element to cook the fruit and the other to heat the water for processing. The alarm sounding prevented what could have been a contrastrophy from happenine. I could have lost my life had that alarm not alerted me to an issue.

    I was poisoned by a low to mid level carbon monoxide leak from a faulty gas range The CO levels ranged from 12-64ppm depending on how much I used the range and if my windows and doors were open at the time . This has ruined my health I suffered a TBI due to a fall and then continued to be poisoned until I finally figured it out January 2023 . So I was poisoned from summer 2020 until mid January 2023. I had the standard carbon monoxide alarm installed in my apartment and it was is perfect working order but as I now realize it is completely useless. I became completely disable and unable to work for well over 3 years . I’m 59 yrs old and have to try and rebuild my life from ground zero. I will never ever have any gas in any residence I live in. Electricity won’t kill me !! The CO leak I had would have killed me most likely killed me by the end of 2023 had I not figured it out. I would like to add that out of all my numerous visits to doctors and hospital ERs throughout this entire time I was being poisoned not a single health care worker ever thought of CO poisoning!!

    Gas range - MODEL WFG505M0BB0, SERIAL VE63816497. A technician was at the house to work on the range. When he pulled it out from the wall there was a large burn mark on the floor underneath. I wanted to report this because it is a fire hazard. There were no injuries.

    The product, in the report: Gas Double free standing oven range

    The bottom oven of our double oven stove burned our engineered floor under the stove when it was in self cleaning mode. This was very close to starting a fire. It discolored the bottom sheet metal of the stove.My wife was using this function the night before we left for Florida.We were unaware of this because it happened in the middle of the night. We found this when we were cleaning when we got back on 05/01. No injuries.

    We have a whirlpool gas oven. The igniter went out after 28 months This same problem has happened to at least 7 neighbors with the same product These are all homes of less than two and a half years built by [REDACTED] Model numberwfg515soisi Ra2125621 I’m afraid someone will get hurt There must be a problem with the ignition if so many are failing. I’m sure there are many more. And then homeowners are replacing the part on their own, which could cause a safety issue

    The product, in the report: The product is a Whirlpool gas range. The glass that shattered spontaneously was the black outer glass on the oven door.

    I was cooking dinner, using our Whirlpool range that is roughly 2 1/2 years old. Using the oven door handle, I opened the oven when out of nowhere the outer glass shattered all over me and my kitchen. Luckily I had pants on and was not injured. There were no cracks or scratches on the glass and I didn’t even touch it when opening the door. Researching this issue I have learned that glass shattering on oven doors has been an issue.

    The caller said that one of the last few days in February, she was in the kitchen when her son asked if she would heat his pizza for him. She went to the gas range and set the temperature to 350 degrees to begin preheating the oven. Her son handed her the pizza from the freezer in the refrigerator. She placed the pizza on the pan and then in the oven. She shut the oven door. The oven door handle dropped, and the glass in the oven door exploded basically at the same time. The consumer contacted the manufacturer. She was advised that she had not paid for the extended warranty and would be responsible for any repairs. The consumer used the oven every day, a few times a day.

    (Please see attached correspondence dating back 2 years) One August 29th 2020 I ordered a new stove, Whirlpool from. All Cape Appliance in [REDACTED]. One Nov 12 2020 it was delivered and installed. We heated it up on Nov 16, 2020 and heard a popping sound coming from the stove in the kitchen. See attached pictures. The appliance store told me to call Whirlpool - After waiting forever on the line I hired an attorney - paid $700 and still got nowhere.

    The product, in the report: Gas range with oven

    2017: The control knobs are on the front of the range and they are extremely easy to turn on. On some occasions, the consumer came home and found that her dog had turned the knobs, while climbing near the range and the unit was emitting gas. She turned it off and there were no injuries.

    She was reaching above the range and accidentally bumped one of the knobs and turned the gas on. Considering this potential issue, she must be extremely careful around the range.

    Sometime around 2017, the consumer became aware of a separate issue. The spacing of the range grates are extremely far apart. Therefore, the consumer said that soft pans have tipped over while on the grates and this presents a tip-over hazard for pans.

    (date unknown): She called the firm and reported this matter. However, the firm’s rep. (name unavailable) told her that they had never had a complaint of this nature. The consumer asked the rep. to file a report for her about these issues and the rep. said that they would.

    (Around 2020) The stem to push in and light the burner is very loose on the front left burner. This is where one pushes in the control knob, but it has a lot of play in it. On one occasion she used it and experienced extreme difficulty turning it off. That’s when she discontinued use that burner.

    • She did not report this last issue to the firm. However, she is concerned about all the issues and believes this range presents a definite safety hazard.

There is a design and safety flow. - Common burner to heat the oven and broiler, every time oven is used the broiler also gets hot. - There is a gap between broiler and oven door for kids to put hand in. While using oven or broiler the gap allows interior hot surface to be touched easily.

    on 12/24/22we opened the oven of our Whirlpool gas range and the handle pulled off and the outerglass cracked in a thousand pieces in front of our 20 holiday guests. We were not severely injured, just cuts from clean up luckily. on 5/21/21 the same gas range had a fire in it the first month when we opened the oven and the grates wobbled severely causing a grease fire. Whirlpool serviced the oven and said it was safe and the grates weren’t installed properly the previous month by the installers. Luckily the fire flames didn’t reach us and it did go out. We have never had an appliance dangerous like this one is and Whirlpool is not replacing it, although less than 2 years old and the broken glass door is backordered for months showing there is a wider issue with it. It doesnt seem that this gas range with 2 glasses to the door, inner and outer vs the self cleaning heavy door style is safe for consumers

    The product, in the report: Whirlpool Range Model WFG320M0MS 30” Serial #VEB4274311

    Serious safety defect on all Whirlpool Range Model WFG320M0MS with the oven rack safety slide stop for the second of five rack positions. When the oven rack is in the second level position and you pull it out it fails to stop and seamlessly comes completely out creating a serious safety hazard whereas the baking dishes and rack will fall out of oven onto glass oven door possibly shattering the glass door and possible burns and injuries to the consumer. I used my oven and and had a baking dish on the rack in the second position. I was attempting to pull out the rack to check the food when the dish and rack began to fall out of the oven. I was able to catch the dish of food as the rack fell on the oven door. I was lucky to catch the dish but someone else may not be as lucky and serious injury could happen. I immediately contacted Whirlpool because to me this is a manufacturer defect that the rack slide stops on 4 of the 5 levels and no safety stickers are on the second rack level warning the consumer to manually stop pulling out the rack before it falls. Whirlpool sent a “certified” expert repair technician to repair the oven. The technician saw and confirmed to me that yes the second slide stop doesn’t work like the other 4 levels and relayed that information to Whirlpool who concluded the oven is working as designed!! So I went out to 2 locations selling this model Whirlpool Range and tested the rack slide stops and found on 4 display ovens this same defect exists. The sales personnel at the stores all concurred with me that this is a serious safety hazard and a whirlpool manufacturing defect which should be corrected.
