The product, in the report: Cuisinart Brew Central 12 cup programmable coffeemaker
While I was in the kitchen I noticed my Cuisinart coffee pot making a funny noise. The coffee in the pot was boiling and the light that indicates the coffe pot is on was not on. Then smoke started pouring from the base of the unit. I unplugged it and took it outside where it continued to smoke for awhile.

The product, in the report: This is an electric programmable coffee maker
My father called me this evening and stated his coffee maker started smoking this morning while it was brewing coffee. I went on your site to see if there were any recalls for this product and could not find one. I went to google and found a site where several people are experiencing the same problem. The company will gladly send another one but then people are having the same issue months later.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Premier Coffee Series. Coffee Maker Model # DCC-1100
We Purchased A Cuisinart Premier Coffee Maker Model # DCC-1100 Approximately 4 months ago. On July 4th 2011 the Coffee Maker Developed an internal electrical short causing smoke to billow from the back of the unit. (Electrical Fire ) My Wife Smelled the burning elecrical wiring and saw the coffee maker smoking on the counter top My wife pulled the power cord from the elecric outlet. We Moved The Coffee Pot To A Safe Place as the Coffee Pot Continued To Smolder At The Back of the unit for some time. The heat from the electrical fire was hot enough to blister the coating on the built in coffee pot heat plate. The potential for serious fire damage to our home from this defective product was deffinately there if this had happened while we were not at home.
After Doing Some Online Research We have Concluded that this is not an isolated issue with the Cuisinart coffee makers and the problem spans several models.
We have not contacted Cuisinart Customer Service yet. Based Upon Complaints about the Cuisinart Customer service lack of interest and concern about the problem and their warranty policy concerning this issue, We are not interested in a replacement Coffee Maker. at an additional cost to Us as the consumer. Nor Will We Be Able To Trust Cuisinart to porvide us with a defect free replacement.
We Put Our Six Year Old Mr. Coffee Maker Back Into Service, Now We Feel Safer.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart DC 1200 Coffee Maker (serial number 98324 h)
During the brewing process our Cuisinart DC 1200 (Serial number 98324 h), purchased from Amazon in late November or early December of 2009 began to billow smoke and give off a sharp plastic smell. We unplugged it immediately.
The smoke was considerable and it is clear from the odor that plastic parts were hot enough to melt inside. Fortunately my husband was in the kitchen when the meltdown occurred and could unplug it before it damaged the countertop or started a fire. We have never had a problem like this with an appliance.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart 12 cup coffee maker DCC-1100 series black
My husband made coffee this morning as usual. When he returned to get a cup he found the coffee to be boiling in the carafe and the unit to be smoking. It is a Cuisinart 12 cup DCC-1100 series. I did a quick search of this on the internet and found this is happening to alot of people. Had we used the feature to program auto brew we may not have discovered this until it burst into flames and caught our house on fire. This is a SERIOUS safety hazard and it appears that until someone dies nothing is going to be done. It is clear from all of the reports that the maufacturer is aware of this. I also understand that this has been reported to this agency many times. I add my complaint to the stack in hopes that someone will take this seriously

The product, in the report: blue central coffee maker
The consumer says she was making coffee, she heard a crackling sound so she went to check on it. She saw smoke coming out of the burner area. She unplugged it and saw smoke coming out of the plug area. The consumer says she had to take it outside. She said the unit was very hot. She took it outside and set it on the driveways. She was afraid that it might catch her cabinets on fire, although she saw smoke but no flames. The consumer contacted the manufacturer who told her the unit is constructed to not catch on fire. They offered her to contact retailer to return it. She is scheduled to return it today.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart model DCC-1100 automatic coffee maker, serial number 00223
My Cuisinart model DCC-1100 automatic coffee maker, serial numer 00223, started smoking about an hour after use. I noticed a burnt plastic smell and noticed the smoke rolling out of the unit. It was very hot when I removed it from the house. Fortunately, we noticed the problem before anything else was damaged.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart DCC-755bk coffeemaker, black, w/10-cup insulated metal carafe
My household possessed a Cuisinart DCC-755 coffeemaker. Approximately a week ago, it began not wanting to turn on, or would run and turn off. It gave up entirely today. Upon opening it (removing 4 readily available screws on bottom that releases a base not attached to any function-related components), I was met with a burning smell and a fairly thick coat of white powder strewn about the inside of the unit. The origin of the white powder is unclear, but it may be coming from a wire near the heating element for under the carafe. Looking at one of the circuit boards, I also discovered scorch marks across an area of the board containing two large resistors and one small one. Photographs were taken, but the webpage dialog for submitting them does not seem to be functionig properly on your site.
Investigating this on the web, I discovered that this failure seems to be the exact same syndrome (abrupt failure, burning, powder) from others who have purchased this exact (and perhaps closely related) unit, some of whom had more dramatic burning, melted plastic, smoke, and the like. Looking at the dates, it appears that the timing on many is similar as well, indicating that this may be an ongoing problem. Thus, while we were relatively lucky with our unit, we seem to have dodged a bullet. More importantly, as this was likely a popular unit due to being sold at Costo, it may represent an acute and ongoing concern for others, some of whom may be more unlucky than we were, perhaps much more.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker
When brewing coffee, the coffeemaker started smoking and smelling like an electrical fire. It was purchased on April 12, 2010 from Amazon.com. It is a Cuisinart model DCC-1200, serial # 91223H. This was a very close call for us, and I think a year old coffee maker that does this is obviously defective.
