    Shortly after using our GE range ( model # JGBS 66DEK4BB, serial # DS108664P ) to prepare dinner, the external glass in the oven door shattered. The oven was turned off after being on for approximately 30 min at temperature 350 F. My adult daughter and I were standing, along with our small dog, in front of range talking when the spontaneous shattering occurred. The round pellets of broken tempered glass fell straight down and no one was injured. The internal glass was not apparently affected.

Dimensions: Approximately 47.25 inches high 30 inches wide 28.75 inches deep. Oven Capacity: 5.0 cubic feet. Configuration: Five sealed surface burners with an integrated center griddle and lower broiler drawer. Purchase Information: Purchased new from Lowes. The appliance was only slightly more than one year old at the time of the incident and had been used only for normal residential cooking.

    My gas range developed a gas leak that appears to have originated at a welded seam inside the appliance before the gas reached the burner control valve.

    My granddaughter and her friends were using the stovetop to prepare food when the inside of the range unexpectedly began burning. The fire started inside the cabinet rather than on the cooktop surface. This stove is in a lake house that is not regularly used.

    After discovering the fire, it became apparent that gas was escaping from inside the range cabinet at a location upstream of the burner control valve. The fire inside the appliance melted wiring and other components within the range. There was visible fire damage inside the cabinet, smoke, and a strong burnt-plastic odor. The fire occurred before the gas reached the burner control valve or control knob, indicating that the leak originated within the appliance itself.

    The homes propane supply was shut off by my granddaughter at the main tank valve to stop the gas flow and prevent further danger. The range is no longer being used and is not functional.

    Following the gas leak and internal fire, occupants of the home experienced symptoms consistent with exposure to leaking gas and combustion byproducts, including headache, dizziness, nausea, fatigue, eye irritation, throat irritation, and other symptoms that prompted medical evaluation. These symptoms lasted multiple days. One person was taken to an urgent care clinic for evaluation after the incident. The physician determined that symptoms were consistent with a gas leak and internal fire.

    Upon inspection after opening the cabinet it was apparent from soot marks and a break in the pre-valve weld that the leak and the fire were from components that should have been a closed system.

    The range is a GE gas range, model JGBS66DEKWW. It was purchased from Lowes and was only a little over one year old at the time of the incident. The failure involved an internal gas leak and fire, creating a significant risk of fire, explosion, and exposure to gas and combustion products.

The entire exterior glass door shattered into thousands of pieces, scattering glass across my kitchen floor.

    Safety Concern: This was an explosive failure that posed an immediate safety hazard. Given the nature of the damage, it appears to be a manufacturing defect, likely related to thermal stress or impurities within the tempered glass. This type of sudden failure creates a significant risk of lacerations and physical harm, particularly if children or pets (like my own) were nearby.

    Desired Outcome: I am reporting this to ensure there is an official record of this safety failure. I believe this model may be subject to a larger trend of manufacturing defects, and I am requesting an investigation into this specific glass assembly to prevent future incidents.

    On January 31, 2026, I purchased a brandnew GE freestanding gas range to replace my previous GE gas range, which had developed a gas leak. I have included the [REDACTED] report documenting the first leak. Although the original range was less than three years old, it was already out of warranty. Due to the safety risk, I chose to replace the unit at my own expense rather than attempt a repair.

    The replacement GE gas range has now also begun leaking gas. I have included the report from [REDACTED], the appliance repair company GE selected to perform warranty service. Because this unit is still under warranty, I contacted GE. They scheduled a repair appointment and refused to provide a replacement. The technician inspected the appliance in my home and confirmed that there is an active gas leak.

    This is the second GE gas range in a row that has leaked gas in my home. My concerns include the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning, fire hazards, personal injury, or death. The unit was newly installed on March 26, 2026, and was found by a licensed gas technician on April 10, 2026 to have a defective oven safety, leading the technician to disconnect the stove and plug the gas line.

    What happened that made you want to report. A newly installed GE gas range failed within approximately two weeks of installation. A licensed propane and gas service technician inspected the appliance and documented that the new cook stove has a bad oven safety, and disconnected the stove and plugged the gas line. The stove was disconnected from the gas line because of the safety concern. I am concerned this presents a gas, fire, or explosion risk if the oven safety valve or oven safety system allows unsafe gas flow or improper ignition behavior.

    What type of products were being used. A GE gas range, model JGBS66REK8SS, serial DD412403P. The unit was installed on March 26, 2026, and removed and disconnected in early April 2026. The technician inspection date was April 10, 2026.

    GE Gas Range, Model GGS600AV2WW, S/N TA189826Q, purchased December 6, 2025 at Hoffmans Appliances in Rochester, NY. Range was installed by Hoffmans on December 18, 2025. It has not worked properly from the get-go. This 2-month-old gas range has a severe safety defect in the broiler ignition system. The electrical glow-bar igniter remains energized and ‘brightly lit’ throughout the entire cooking cycle without turning off. This indicates a failure of the control board relay or a defective igniter failing to reach the proper amperage to fully open the gas safety valve. Simultaneously, the gas valve is only partially opening, resulting in a dangerously weak, flickering flame that cannot reach broiling temperatures. This creates a twofold hazard: (1) An electrical fire risk from a high-voltage component remaining energized indefinitely, and (2) a risk of gas buildup or ‘fluttering’ ignition. The manufacturer ([REDACTED]) and retailer (Hoffman’s) have been notified of this safety hazard but have refused to replace the unit, forcing me to keep a potentially dangerous gas appliance in my home for several weeks until a service date of March 2nd. This is totally unacceptable!

    I know this GE cooktop is old, but it just donned on me to check recalls, because I have had nothing but problems with it. Initially, the light indicated the knobs were on, but all were off and I smelled gas. So we called out the fire department. Turned out the gas was low and they thought the light was faulty. Then many times over the years, we thought we had turned off the gas, only to have the smell alert us that the knob didn’t actually turn it all the way off. The igniters are also hit an miss on three of the five burners. One is so unreliable we stopped using it years ago. We replaced the all the knobs because the insides cracked and they immediately cracked again. When you turn a knob to the OFF position, and the gas/flame doesn’t go off, this can cause panic when you have a dry pan or some other situation, and then find the knob just spins. Or if you are trying to ignite a burner and it won’t engage and you start to smell a lot of gas. The cooktop has been a nightmare since we got it in 2014.

    The consumer explained that she turned the self-cleaning option on of the gas range and she was in the living room when she fell asleep. When she woke up, she felt dizzy, with nausea and sick. She realized that the appliance had turned off by itself during the cleaning process and the inhaled carbon monoxide.

    She called the company, and they sent two technicians, but when they went to check the unit, they never told her what the problem was in their report. They said that the problem was not the appliance, and they were going to tell the store to give her a replacement. However, the consumer doesn’t want a replacement of the same stove since she doesn’t feel safe.

    Then she called back again, and they said they would send an experienced technician. He came today on December 3rd, and he did not even check the gas range. He did not even stay for 30 minutes when he left, and he did not give her a diagnosis or anything.

    He told her that she needed to return the appliance for her to get another one, but she didn’t want to do that because she would not have any proof. She wants someone from the CPSC or an experienced person to take a look and tell her what the problem was with the appliance.

    The consumer recieved medical attention on 10/25/2025 and was treated for swollen throat and sinus tissue. Sterioids were used to reduce swelling, which is not resolved.

    In May of 2024, I began experiencing recurring symptoms including fatigue, headaches, and nausea, which persisted over the course of a year. These symptoms affected both myself and members of my household and led to missed workdays and concerns about our overall health. It wasn’t until I read an article about CM and your burners must be all blue did I suspect something. A technician confirmed that the appliance was leaking carbon monoxide (CO). Following this, I contacted the appliance manufacturer, who sent a technician to evaluate the unit. The technician initially noted a gas leak and confirmed the carbon monoxide leak after I insisted on the findings provided by the gas company.

    I have since had medical tests to evaluate the impact of long-term CO exposure, and my household has incurred both health concerns and increased utility bills due to the ongoing gas leak. We are also in the process of fertility evaluations and are concerned the exposure may have had an effect.

    I purchased a GE Dual Fuel Gas Range over 2 years ago, and I can tell you the amount of times I have used it. This oven literally shuts itself off. It makes me question the preparation of the food I attempted to cook in the oven during these times, as well as the gas which may linger, or potential for carbon monoxide. I have literally been avoiding using it, until I can afford another oven. I have contacted GE, and they told me it was buyers remorse.

    I am writing to formally report an incident that occurred with the GE oven in our home. On 12/17/2024, while the oven had been turned off for approximately 20 minutes following the completion of cooking dinner at 350F for about two hours, the outer glass on the oven door spontaneously exploded and shattered. At the time of the incident, I was standing directly in front of the oven, dishing up food. Without warning, the glass blew outward towards me, creating a significant safety hazard. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained. However, the incident resulted in glass shards scattering across the area, necessitating immediate precautions to ensure the safety of children and pets, who were promptly kept away from the vicinity.

    I purchased a new GE gas range Dec 2023. The knobs on the range turn way to easily. I’ve accidentally brushed against them turning them on . The gas starts to escape as soon as the knob is turned even a little. I have cats and they’ve turned the knobs several times filling the house with gas. I called GE about this issue. I was told that they couldn’t believe i was calling g about this non issue. I made a [REDACTED] report. GE contacted me and sent a service person to look at the issue. The service person agreed that the knob seemed to turn extremely easy but that was normal and there was no defect on the item. I never heard back from GE again after that and I left a [REDACTED] review stating my issues. I feel that this is potentially an extremely dangerous issue. No one has been hurt and I’m trying to prevent that from happening . I do pull the knobs off now when I’m not using the stove because if my cats turn the gas on and I’m not home there could be an explosion. If all their gas ranges have become this easy to turn on the gas there’s going to be something horrible happen down the line. Not necessarily at my house but anywhere else

    Went into our kitchen, smelled a very strong odor of gas. Checked the stove, and found one of the burner gas control knobs had been turned, but not far enough to cause the clking noise activation when engaging the ignitor. I turned back to the off position. Asked 17 yr old son if he had cooked anything, which was No. He must have brush by it, causing the control knob to turn just enogh to release gas, No one else was home, nore had there been any usage of the stove the entire day. This was around 8 pm. If I didn’t happen to go into the kitchen, this could have leaked for over 6 hours before my next trip into the kitchen, which with 6 hrs of gas leaking, probably wouldn’t have been a next trip. The stove is a GE Profile 5 burner Double Oven. The control knobs do have an internal locking device, you have to push in the knob the turn, but it’s very so slight of a push on the control knob.     2 x now my stove gas knob has turned on when it was bumped. Both x’s the people didn’t realize they did it and the house filled will gas fumes. This needs to be made safer!!

    I’m pretty sure that family in the house wouldn’t be getting up in the morning. It would kill them.

    Both times this happened the rooms on the first floor were filled with gas & the guys didn’t even know it. Until I came in & frantically mentioned something.

    The flame goes out on my GE range, either because the burner had not been used for some time, or because it goes out on low simmer setting. It also might go out because of a boil over. In order to shut off the gas flow you have to pass the knob position that activates the igniter. Depending on how long the flame was out and ventilation, this is a serious fire and explosion hazard.

    Oven quit working in a GE gas range. My assumption was the hot surface ignitor (I have a HVAC diploma and am familiar with gas appliances). In replacing the ignitor I found the gas safety valve was a combo unit with the ignitor control built in. This unit had melted and burnt through the wires. In testing I found the appliance would still function if I reconnected the wire even though all the plastic was melted off and the contacts were scorched and heat damaged. Considering this controls the gas flow to the oven as well as functions as a safety cut off if the oven does not ignite, this level of damage during normal functioning should be unacceptable.

    I’ve also found unacceptable levels of build quality issues during my repair. Several of the screws in the cabinet are missing or not fully seated, and there is exposed fiberglass insulation inside the oven chamber from the mat that insulates the range area.

    The consumer stated that she has had a problem with the product since the day it was delivered on 2/14/2022. The oven burns bright orange and has a horrible smell. She stated that technicians have been out five times and each time they find nothing wrong. However, on two different times, parts were replaced. On one trip, the igniter was replaced. Another time, the oven burner was replaced. The last repair visit was on 3/13/2023.

    On Friday, March 24, 2023, I spent hours on the phone being told to call another number and ask for upper management, supervisor, on and on. Talk to [REDACTED], consumer advocate. So upsetting I was crying. She kept putting me on hold and gave me the impression she would get me someone who can help. While waiting I used a second phone and called [REDACTED] in [REDACTED], [REDACTED]. She is the only decent person I have talked to. I was told there is a Lemon Law, 3 times for problems and the item has to be returned. [REDACTED] is the only one who said “yes” this is true. [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] could hear each other. [REDACTED] passed me to [REDACTED]!!! She says she checked the problem and nothing wrong- so now they are coming out again. My report shows 5 repair visits. There was a sixth visit and the 2 visits from the electric co- who said the stove is hazardous, dangerous, do not use, CO coming from the oven. [REDACTED] now wants them to come for a seventh time. I was hysterical, crying and said NO! Now she has some experts going to look at everything and decide what they think! [REDACTED] then says “I am going to send $100.00 for your pain and suffering. So you can buy a counter top oven or item to cook with since I don’t have a stove! I said NO! Take this dangerous stove out of my house and refund my money. This is unreal.

    With all the news about gas ovens being unsafe, I wanted to report my concern with my own gas range. We purchased the GE range model JGB700DEJWW in 2017. As the oven heats, if I open it up, whatever comes out of the oven causes my eyes to sting and tear, with a burning feeling. We had a GE appliance service person come look at the range in 2018 and he told me there was nothing wrong with the range and that it was normal for there to be an odor in the early life of and oven as it burned off residue from manufacturing (or something like that). The range still causes my eyes to sting 6 years later. I would like to know if there is an independent test that can be done to see what is being emitted from the oven and if it is dangerous to me and my family (and other families who may own the same range).

    In 2021 home was moved into being the first to occupy home. Once they started using the oven more frequently, they noticed when they set the oven to bake it would take an hour to reach the desired temperature, the food was not being cooked properly. After contacting the company a few times, they were routed to [REDACTED]. Finally on January 18th, 2022, a service person came to inspect the unit and shared that he received similar complaints. They were advised that the info would be shared with GE but they would likely say that the model was intended to work that way. As suspected GE stated that it was intended to work that way, regardless of the incredible lengthy heat times and temperature discrepancies. Shortly after the visit, they noticed a gas smell when using the oven or back burners. The burners were turned off immediately in fear of CO exposure. On August 4,2022, the oven was in use while he was not home, the gas smell permeated long enough for the CO detectors to sound. My family including my 2-month-old and 4 yr old children and our caretaker. The fire Marshall came and assured that it was caused by the oven, he held up his CO detector in close proximity to the unit and it rang loudly. On 8/9/22 [REDACTED] returned, and they did not find any issues, this is likely because the oven was not on long enough. Despite his family being in close proximity to danger, GE stated that there was nothing they could do. They have not used the oven or back burners since that day. After all the problems they have had he feels that they are entitled to a new replacement.

    Caller stated that she moved into newly purchased home March 23rd, 2020, the stove was in the home. Around September 2020 she was wiping her stove off (she thinks with just water) and the HI, MED, LO and all other instructions for the right front burner wiped completely off. She contacted the manufacturer who sent repair for this issue, and they repaired it. Caller stated that she had no problems with it until March 29th, 2022, the directional Hi, LO etc completely wiped off for all burners except the one’s for the right front burner repaired in 2020. She contacted the manufacturer who advised her that they will not repair the issue on the unit. This caller is reporting this issue as a severe safety hazard stating that there is no way to cook safely if she cannot see the status of whether it is on or off or high, medium or low.     Caller stated that she purchased her electric start/gas fueled range approximately one year ago. She also stated that approximately two or three months ago possibly around August 2nd, 2022, she noticed that if someone leans even very lightly on the knobs it causes the gas to turn on with no warning because the electric start is not engaged until the knob is turned all the way.     I am not a tall woman (5’2”) and while reaching over the oven top to press control buttons, I brushed up (or pressed) against the on/off burner controls. The slight pressure turned the burner control. After 5-10 minutes I could smell gas in my kitchen. I did not know where it was coming from. I ran to open the kitchen door to expel gas fumes. When I went into the kitchen to investigate, I found the burner knob turned on. Since that time, I am extremely careful NOT to brush up against the burner knobs because they are NOT very secure. With this particular GE Adora gas range (Model # JGB605DET2BB, Serial # ZZ205856P, Made in Mexico), it does not have strong safety features of having to push in strongly to ignite the gas. All you have to do is brush up or put slight pressure against the knobs and the gas line opens. I do not know if all Adora models are this sensitive, but I consider this gas range dangerous...especially if you have kids in the house or people of short stature reaching over the unit to the back control panel. No injuries occurred because I could finally smell the gas coming from the unlit burner.

    I purchased a GE gas range which is venting unburnt fuel in my home whenever the oven is used. GE product JGBS86SP2SS with serial # AT17815P. GE sent technicians to my home on several occasions and according to them they were unable to duplicate our concern. On one of my most recent calls to GE about said matter they suggested that we called the local utility company to check our home for gas leak. The utility company came out and red tag the gas range indicating that the oven is unsafe to use because it is releasing gas at the boiler tube when the over is in operation. In other words, too much gas is being released into the oven and as a result unburnt fuel is being vented in our home. My wife was told that the problem we are having with the gas range is a design issue. However, since we have a newborn in our home, it suggested that we let customer service know and hopefully they will replace the gas range. Also, we told GE customer service that it will take approximately an hour of using the oven in order for the technician to duplicate the problem, but we were told that they cannot have a technician siting at my home for an hour to duplicate and fix a problem that is dangerous to my family and community.

    Our GE Profile gas oven and range, Model PGB935YP1FS, turned off while cooking a lasagna in the oven, the oven panel stopped working then the oven turned back on to broil, then turned off then turned back on an hour later to air fry at 400 degrees, then turned off, then turned back on 30 minutes later to back at 350 degrees. This has now happened several time with oven just turning on to broil, air fry or other settings at extremely hot temperatures. It is concerning when you walk into the kitchen to find your oven on hi broil and it does so randomly. Customer service suggested we just turn the breaker off at fuse box when not using oven.

    Numerous parts failure that after replacement continue to fail. These parts have a safety hazard due to causing gas leaks.     I have a gas stove and When I use the oven the whole house filled up with gas. We were all coughing and then I realized that the oven was on and I smelled the gas. The oven was still on and working so everything appeared to be fine but the gas smell was horrific in the house. We had to open all the windows and leave the house because we were all coughing. I called GE to see if there was a recall and they said no. I told them what happened and they said you’re out of warranty and you’ll have to pay for someone to come out and fix it. If the stove is leaking gas when it’s on I believe that it is a defective product and the manufacturer should fix it immediately so people don’t get hurt.

    Caller stated that while using the gas oven she grabbed the door to open it causing her to receive an electric shock. The service technician came out and he advised that he found a pinched wire at the rear of the stove which caused the problem. She stated that the technician informed her that he repaired the wire that had caused the incident. Caller stated that she has not used the unit since.

    Caller feels that this range/oven should be investigated before other consumers are seriously harmed.

    I am a 46 yr old Disabled woman, live alone, and am legally Deaf, in that I lost 80% of my hearing due to an Auto-Immune Disease. So I can honestly say, I don’t appreciate having to babysit GE appliances due to their careless and known manufacturing issues. About 5 months ago, I was 2 rooms away, and “heard” a weird sound coming from my kitchen, I actually felt the vibrating in the floor. I rushed out to the kitchen, for no reason at all, this GE Profile cook top had all 5 burners on, clicking, zapping as if they were starting up. As I stated, I live alone, no one was interacting with this thing. I hadn’t used the cook top in over a week. I could not get them to stop snapping, so I went in the basement and shut off the circuit breaker switch to that appliance. I left it off for a few days, reengaged the circuit breaker switch, it wasn’t snapping. 2 days after this, again, for no reason whatsoever this GE Profile was snapping. I couldn’t cook with it, as all burners would be acting like they were trying to light. This is a KNOWN problem with these GE stoves, I’ve found hundreds of complaints online for exactly this. Why has there not been a recall??? This went on for a couple of weeks. The visit from one of their so-called “technicians” was quoted at $500 just to get them to show up, most likely from [REDACTED], and my income is SSDI, why am I paying for GE’s failures as a company? I didn’t break this cook top, neither did the hundreds of others who are stating the exact same experiences. Then I got their outrageous Buzzer. Here is the item that should have forced a Recall immediately: In the center is a switch, with On/Off for the Child Safety “Lock,” if it’s On, the burners can’t be turned on or engaged, you have to turn it to Off to cook with. Also, much like GE’s other notorious appliances, for no reason whatsoever they accompany this useless switch with an ungodly loud buzzer. That even a Deaf woman can hear and feel! It’s that loud. Well on my cook top, as with hundreds of other reviewers have stated, this stupid buzzer started going off whether turned to On or Off if you tried to start a burner. The burners will start while it’s set to Off, but the buzzing does not end. You can not cook because the buzzing is so loud, that it’s impossible. And again, I’m Deaf, so imagine the rest of the world having to hear this. In addition, there is a red light under the glass when it’s set to On, for Child Safety Lock On. Well along with the obnoxious buzzing, the red light stays lit no matter if you have it set to On or Off. This is an absolute danger. You can’t tell if the Child Safety Lock is engaged or not because the red light does not turn off. You can not cook because of this horrible buzzing sound coming from the cook top. I was not cleaning, nothing overflowed, I did not spill anything when this started happening. Now I have a cook top taking up half my kitchen I can’t use! I’m scared of it exploding. I removed all burners and knobs, so I could open this up and remove the damn buzzer. Well underneath the front right burner, the one for pots of soup and such, under that burner is all black and burned, almost like it had been on fire. I am a Deaf, Disabled woman and for the past 5 months, I have not been able to make any food with this piece of trash cook top. I have had to unplug it and turn off the gas at the line to get it to stop clicking and/or buzzing, I am also scared it’s going to explode as I see many people on here mentioning. A handful of times, I’ve smelled something burning coming from the cook top, but no one is using it or had used it when I smelled this. There are hundreds of complaints about this same model. It should have been recalled. Why are all of GE’s appliances outfitted with a useless, loud buzzer that breaks for no reason, then GE has the audacity to BLAME the consumer. I didn’t break this cook top, spill anything, manhandle it, spray anything on it, it’s just a cheap piece of trash cook top that they charge $2,000 for, and that’s ridiculous. This thing is DANGEROUS and it’s total junk. It should be recalled.

    I have a GE Gas Oven/Stove purchased in November 2020. After heating up some food at 375, I turned the oven off and after a minute or so the outside oven window blew to smithereens. No apparent reason why.

    The product, in the report: gas range model #RBG526DEH3WW serial #FH128359R, We are licensed mechanical contractors. Got a call regarding a gas leak in a house, There was the distinctive smell of gas so I tested with the gas leak detector, there was a strong leak, traced to two of the orifices on the range. The valves would not shut-off.
