    Front glass of oven door exploded/shattered. The oven and stovetop had been off for approximately half an hour. We were finishing dinner when we all jumped up at a loud explosive and glass shattering sound. The glass shards hit a wall that was approx 12 feet away. No one was in the kitchen at the time except possibly the Cat. The temperature used for previous cooking was 415, and the stovetop left front burner was used at the number 2 setting to reheat soup. If I or a child were looking into the oven door when it exploded this could have been potentially harmful. If this happened while we were at work our animals could have been seriously injured. The fact that we as a society, as an industry, as a whole know how to build quality,long lasting, and safe products but choose not to for the sake of profit and deliberately manufacture goods that are completely inadequate and built to fail so that a new one will have to be purchased sooner is morally criminal.

    The product, in the report: GE 27 inch built-in single electric convection wall oven, black slate finish, Wi-Fi connected, manufactured May 2019. The component that shattered is the tempered glass touch control panel, the user interface and LCD control panel glass mounted above the oven door. The glass shattered across the entire panel but stayed almost entirely in place in its frame, and very little fell off. The oven door glass did not break.

    On October 7, 2026 at about 7:30 pm, the tempered glass control panel (touch control glass above the oven door) on my GE built-in 27” electric wall oven shattered spontaneously with a loud pop followed by crackling. The oven was off and had not been used in four days. Nothing struck the glass. My wife and children were seated at the dining table a few feet away doing homework. No one was injured. The oven door glass is intact. Self-clean had not been run in a very long time, if ever. I turned the oven off at the circuit breaker immediately and it has remained off. GE was notified by web chat on October 8, 2026.

    On Friday, 14th August, while my daughter’s boyfriend was cooking on the GE household electric range stove model # J MP31B L2BB Serial # AA2 65577Q, the stove short and sparked and caused a fire flash. My daughter’s boyfriend got hurt and we took him to ER. The spark shot out from the edge of the cooktop coil, that the circuit breaker failed to trip automatically so my neighbor helped manually shut it off to secure the area.

    I purchased a GE FreeStanding Range December of 2024. In November of 2025, the control panel melted and almost caught fire. It was smoking and I had to get it serviced. When the technician came on site he said it was very dangerous and showed me where it melted. He said it could have caught my home on fire and that if this ever happened again, I should completely unplug the device to ensure no more melting occurs. He replaced the control panel in December 2025, after waiting for the new control panel to come in. Today, June 24th 2025 the control panel again began melting (visible by the same smoke and smell) and I immediately unplugged it. I am now out of warranty and will be contacting GE but this is a VERY dangerous device that could burn down someone’s home! It is occurring when the oven is on and there is nothing on the stove. Someone could easily walk away and not notice this.

    My 2019 GE JS760SLSS stove was on 435 Fahrenheit fan mode for about 40 min, then I saw a low red light emanating from inside, so I opened the door. When I did, it started making a loud humming noise and sparks started flying and it seemed like it was going to catch fire. It did not trip the breaker, I shut off the breaker off manually, which stopped the noise and sparks. I aired out the room and looked inside. The potatoes that were in the oven seemed completely untouched, but the entire inside of the appliance looks like it was incinerated, like the lining had been burned off and discolored, and there is a small hole in the back of the oven, where the fan is located. This appears to be an appliance malfunction, and if I hadn’t acted quickly to shut the breaker it could have seriously injured me or damaged my home.

    I was using the air fryer feature of this stove under normal cooking conditions. While operating, the oven suddenly exploded and caught on fire. The incident occurred while cooking sweet potato fries in the air fryer. The stove was set to Air Frye at 400 degrees F (with no preheat necessary) and had been in operation @3-5 minutes when the explosion occurred. There was a loud bang and immediate fire in the oven. The circuit breaker in my house did not go off. The oven caught on fire and flames were shooting out of the oven. I was able to extinguish the fire and fortunately there were no injuries. There was smoke throughout my house and the stove is totally inoperable. There is soot throughout the entire oven. This incident was extremely stressful to me.

    The control panel on the GE Profile 30 range model #PSS93YPFS is DANGEROUS! Several times over the past two months since we’ve had the range, drops of water or other liquids have gotten onto the control panel while cooking. For example, water splashes while putting food into a pot. When this has happened, the liquids actually activate the control panel. Ive had the burner Im using turned off, other burners turned on, and heat levels changed. To add to this issue, you CANNOT fix things, or turn things off, until the control panel is dry. To make things even worse, as youre trying to dry the control panel, youll accidentally activate other controls. This is all unspeakably dangerous, and I cant believe this made it past testing. We lock the controls while the stove is off, but there is no way to prevent this while the stove is on. This most recently happened on 12/14/25. A drop of water splashed into the controls while I was putting pasta into boiling water. Mind you, this was a large drop, not a significant amount of water. It not only turned on the burner behind the one I was using, but changed the temp setting on the one I was using. The controls kept on flashing and changing because of the water drop, turning off and on, and changing temp levels. When I tried to turn them off, I was unable, because the water meant that the touch screen didnt recognize my touch, identical to when any other touchscreen device gets wet. It got even worse as I tried to dry it off, with the controls reacting to the towel I was moving around on the controls.

    Prior to this occasion, I have also had the temp level adjusted by drops getting on the control panel, sometimes to a lower temp, which was frustrating and delayed my cooking until I noticed. However, on one occasion, it increased the heat on the burner, which I didnt notice until I smelled smoke coming from the pan.

    In an emergency, say if oil had splattered onto the burner and controls and caught fire, it would be impossible to turn off the stove to help extinguish the fire. In fact, additional burners might be turned on, spreading the fire. Ive been fortunate that Ive been present or close by when these incidents have happened, but its frightening when you cant do anything to fix the controls until they are dry.

    GE Electric glass top range with dual coil burners has a defective front left control after approx 2 years in service. No matter how the control is set, the elements are always on high and do not cycle. Issue was discovered while simmering sausages over low heat. The burner unexpectedly went to high and stayed there, charring the food and items surrounding the range had all become hot to the touch. Kitchen was full of smoke and I only became aware of the problem when smoke detectors began alarming. This is an extreme fire hazard and there are many reports online of others with the exact same issue with this exact model stove, and nearly always the left front burner. I believe there is some sort of manufacturing defect and these units should be recalled and removed from sale.

    GE oven overheated during cooking and would not turn off. I was cooking dinner in the oven and left the room. I heard a beeping sound a while later, came to the kitchen and the broiler was on in my oven, even though I was just baking. I could smell the burning like when you use self-cleaning cycle. The oven was flashing F2 which means overheated, over 600 degrees. I took my food out and turned off the oven, BUT THE BROILER WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I had to go to the basement and turn off the power to the range there at the fuse box. The oven was extremely hot so I could not move it to unplug the unit. Had I not been home to go to the fuse box, or had I not done that, I am sure there would have been a fire.

    While cooking with the oven at 400 degrees and using one burner on the cooktop, my PS920SFSS, GE Profile electric range, exploded. There was a very loud sound, a bright flash of light, and the smell of burning, and then the oven turned off. When I pulled the oven back from the wall, the metal sheet on the back was burned through, as was my drywall behind it. Though no injury occurred, it could have started a fire.     I own a GE built in wall oven, model JKP3000SN2SS, approximately 4 years old. This oven is very clean and has been working normally, but recently it has begun emitting extremely strong chemical fumes whenever it heats up. The odor burns my eyes and causes headaches and nausea, even after the oven is turned off. This smell seems chemical or synthetic rather than food or smoke related. I have thoroughly cleaned the interior, and there are no spills or residue. The issue persists regardless of temperature or cooking mode. Becuase the sumptoms are severe, I have unplugged the oven and stopped using it for safety reasons.

    I initiated a self-cleaning cycle on my GE oven following the manufacturer’s instructions in the owner’s manual. During the self-cleaning cycle, I heard a loud popping or cracking sound from the kitchen. Upon investigation, I discovered that the middle glass panel (interior door glass) of the oven had completely shattered.

    The glass broke into small pebble-like pieces as designed for tempered glass, but the sudden failure was unexpected and created a safety hazard. Glass fragments were contained within the oven door structure, though a number of small pieces fell into the oven cavity, into the storage tray below, or on the floor.

    Prior to Incident:

    The oven was functioning normally with no visible cracks or damage to the glass. There was no impact, collision, or other physical trauma to the oven door prior to this incident. The oven door had not been slammed or mishandled.

    Condition After Incident:

    Middle glass panel completely shattered throughout. Outer glass panel remained intact. Oven is currently unusable for safety reasons. No one was injured, but the potential for injury was significant.

    The range burner knobs are activated when leaning on the front of the range. This happened twice within 4 hours of the range being delivered without using it to cook. The second time, a wooden noodle board placed on top of the range became charred and put out a great deal of smoke. It did not ignite as we were in the same room and detected the burning. If this had happened while we were asleep or in another area of the house, it certainly would have caused a house fire. No injuries.

    The vent tube fell out of the stove while my food was cooking. I was using GE’s free, standing electric range: Model #JB750SJ3SS; Serial # FH267897Q. When the vent tube fell out, the stove began smoking profusely and causing my smoke detectors to go off! I contacted GE in January 2023, GE told me the part was out of stock until March 2023. Now --- July 2025, the vent tube is still not available; thus, deeming this stove a major hazard. Furthermore, the burners on the stove malfunction and keep getting hotter and hotter, even though I’m not increasing the temperature control. The biggest burner on the stove would not go to a low setting. It remains at a very high temperature.

    I purchased a GE electric range (Model: GRS600AVWW) from Home Depot in July 2025. Shortly after installation, I discovered a serious safety issue: the front control knobs are very sensitive and can be unintentionally turned just by brushing against them. As a result, a burner was accidentally activated while I was near the range, without me realizing it. This caused a visible burn mark on one of my small appliances and could have led to a fire or injury.

    Two Home Depot technicians visited my home on July 12, 2025, and directly observed the unintended burner activation. One technician even called a manager during the visit and told me verbally that a return would be authorized due to the safety concern. However, the return was later denied, and I was told by Home Depot that I needed to contact GE directly. I am reporting this because I believe it reflects a serious design flaw that could affect many other consumers, especially households with children.

    Here is what happened: The product is a GE electric range, model GRS600AVWW, with front-facing knobs, purchased new from Home Depot. My wife, the homeowner, was using the product under normal conditions in my kitchen. The incident occurred when she brushed past the stove without touching the knob intentionally and a burner turned on by itself.

    There were no injuries in this case, but a small appliance (a steamer) was damaged from the unintentional activation. The product presents an ongoing risk of fire or serious injury, especially if unnoticed or if flammable items are nearby. I am especially concerned for families with small children who may be at even greater risk due to this design.

    The front of our GE electric range reached dangerous hot temperatures. My wife received minor burn injuries from front of stove. We have small children and so can’t use this at all (too dangerous). It reached 162 F, when the room was at 70 F. This represents 92 F increase, which exceeds UL 858. We attempted to resolve issue with GE but is taking weeks and no progress is being made. They claimed they emailed something that was never received. They did not provide replacement range or money back, which is what we would like based on unsafe range.

I use this appliance in air fryer mode for approx 20min needed to extend the cook time and the key pad was very hot to touch i have burned my finger tips due to this. I grabbed the heat scanner and point toward the cook time and number buttons and the temperature was 125 degrees. I have to use a oven mit to change anything and to cancel once cooking is complete as it beeps until you do. I filed a complaint with GE but their safety engineers said it was normal for sides and front to get upto 252 degrees. I explained i understand the sides and the door but not the keypad

    Purchased a GE Stove from Home Depot in Rochester, Minnesota on 4/42021 It was one that had been brought back and was discounted. No booklet came with it.

    The stove is dysfunctional and dangerous.

    When one opens the lower door the steam come out and burns the eyes and skin. If one does not jump back they get burnt. Others have used our stove during family gathering and have also been burnt. Both [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] (husband & wife grown son - [REDACTED]) have been burnt at various times. When one tries to bake or roast a larger item such as a turkey, or other meat etc. the lower rack falls down and the rack below also falls down and hot grease etc. comes out on the floor and on hands etc. We can no longer take the risk of pulling the rack out to check the meat etc.

    The stove top is cracked (have had others look at it for proof, as it doesn’t photograph clearly) and the burners are discolored, so much that the company sent us lots of cleaners to clean it, Apparently they KNOW that it gets discolored and apparently has been an issue. There are LOTS of bad reviews on line.

    I have pictures of all of this, but how do I send them to you ?

    We, as senior citizens ([REDACTED] ages 89 with Alzheimer’s & [REDACTED] 78 with severe arthritis and caregiver to [REDACTED]) do not want a replacement, but rather $5,000.00 for damages as we have been burnt opening the oven and from grease spilling on us etc.. This has happened several times We’re more than tired of these unnecessary, damaging, lack of quality control issues on the part of GE.

    This is NOT a warranty issue, as they expressed but a quality control issue that has not been addressed.

    To date we have not had any satisfactory resolution.

    I purchased this cooktop stove on August 28th, 2022, from Amazon. About 9 months later, we noticed that the stove light would not turn off, and within 2 months, one of the elements stopped working while the light remained on. On November 30th, I received a notification from Amazon stating potential safety concerns with this product and advising me to stop using the stove. I contacted the provided contact information multiple times, but they denied my claim each time, stating that my stoves serial number did not match their list.

    Now, a second element has the same issue and has stopped working, with the light still on.     My dog was able to turn on two front burners of our stove when he was trying to get to some food. A dishtowel caught on fire and was in flames and filled our entire house with smoke. Fortunately I was at home and was able to put it out. A dog should not be able to turn on the stovetop knobs simply by pushing on them with his paws. Our home would have burned down had someone not of been there

    I purchased a GE Range through home depot. Model Number JB735SPSS . Serial Number 31413825. I plugged in the appliance for the first time. As soon as I plugged it in, there was a spark and electric smoke at the back of the appliance. I heard a loud buzz at the circut breaker and went to investigate. It too smelled of electric smoke and the breaker had tripped. As I shut the breaker, I recieved a slight shock. Upon further examination, I determined that the plug to the appliance had been negligently and improperly wired to the appliance by the manufactuer. There was a color coded cord that that attaches to the appliance- a black wire attaches to a black wire, a white wire to a white wire, and a red to a red. However, the manufactuer negligently connected the black wire on the plug to the white wire on the appliance and the white wire on the plug to the black wire on the appliance.

    Caller stated that the slide-in range oven door handle has a sharp edge which caused laceration to her left pinky finger, she had to go to the emergency room for stitches. She is concerned that this could cause serious injury to a child. Caller stated that due to the incident she is scared to use the oven door because of the safety hazard it poses.     We purchased a GE range that can burn you by touching parts of the outside of the appliance. The vent directly behind the oven door handle gets excessively hot making it difficult to open the oven door without getting burned.

    The metal around the cooktop surface gets excessively hot after the oven has been on for an extended time and when using the cooktop burners.

    As an adult, I have great concern about using this appliance and if there are children in the household, this is a burn waiting to happen.

    GE slide in range front knobs turn on if they brushed by hands , body, etc. I’ve had plastics, potholders burn in the past. I bought a new coffee maker and set it on the stove to be assembled later that day 2 hours later the box and coffee maker were on fire. Two burners were on low. We think when husband reached in overhead cabinet he brushed against the two knobs. GE is taking no responsibility. This is a fire hazard. Thank goodness it is an electric stove. Since it’s happened numerous times in the last 5 years, we moved in in 2019, it’s not an accident. It’s a defect. I’m not the only one.[REDACTED].{REDACTED]. All front knobs are fire hazard unless we can do lock out while not using.

    GE Cooking Center - Combo Built-in Microwave/Wall Oven JKP86C0F1CC. Unit has had thermal runaway while programmed for low temperature bake setting (225F, reduced to 200F) even though bake setting broiler element stays on red hot. Broiler element does not automatically shut off despite F2 overheat error code displayed. Does not respond to clear/off control button. Unit was turned off at breaker (240V). Reset after cool down. Restarted after over one hour cool down and resumed function for several more uses over a ten day period. Then problem appeared again. We are aFraid to try oven again after food incinerated - bad odor of plastic overheat persists and fire hazard potential.

    Contacted GE by phone regarding Dec 2007 recall regarding microwave door switch. Customer service initially denied unit was covered by this recall (see Dec 5, 2007 press release showing unit coverage!!) and after some back and forth, offered only $300 “rebate” credit to new appliance.

    Oven function appears to be hazardous and I requested assistance with evaluation and service repair at no cost.

    Please investigate other possible complaints regarding oven (not microwave) malfunction.

    I was using the self clean feature on my stove. I had 4 baby chicks in my home (in a cage until bigger so they could go outside) - within 20 mins of having this on all 4 chicks died within seconds of each other. This was a big red flag. I [REDACTED] what could cause this and if the self clean gives off harmful fumes. It was confirmed that it does give off harmful fumes that can affect humans and pets. Kill birds, pets Cause humans to feel flu like symptoms - which I’ve been experiencing.

    I feel like this issue could have been an even bigger issue. I really feel like this needs to be brought to all consumers attention.

I TRIED for 2 days turning it off, before contacting the GE appliance people, & decided to look up GE appliances recall # to see if there was a recall and there is ; ! so I call them but their response was, “there is a recall on this product BUT not for the problem your having, however, we can have an agent/Inspector come to your home, but the charge would be $109.95 for his travel ; plus labor will be X= $, plus $=for part when its ordered; then when part comes he’ll go to install the part but again you have to pay when he comes to replace & install it, OR you can find someone in your area to do the work.....
