The product, in the report: Food Processor Stainless and Black
While using my Cuisinart DLC-2009 s/n 30918 food processor I heard something didn’t sound right. Upon closer inspection I found a part of the blade in the food, I also see fractures or cracks around the rivets. Broken part was small and very sharp could have been swallowed.

Hurt, no treatment Made Sep 6, 2015, sent to the company Sep 15, 2015, published by CPSC Sep 29, 2015
The product, in the report: 9-cup, Prep 9 Food Processor
I have a 9-cup Cuisinart Food Processor with a steel metal cutting blade. Where the rivets hold the blade to the spindle mechanism there were apparently stress cracks. When using the processor, a sharp piece of metal, about 4mm wide broke off and ending up in the batter of some scones. I bit down on the metal shard, and was able to spit it out before swallowing it. When I examined the underside of the blade, I see that almost all of the other rivets had similar stress cracks.
I called Cuisinart and it seemed to know all about this problem. Also, all over the internet, especially on Amazon reviews, there are reports of these stress cracks. I found these after the incident.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart pro classic The model number is DLC-10S TX (TYPE 25) serial # 30422 S
I was making graham cracker crumbs in the cuisinart when it started making a weird noise. I stopped the machine to discover that the metal cutting blade had sheared where it was riveted to the plastic cylinder. Two chunks of the blade in had shattered in the crumbs- a large section and a small very sharp triangle of blade. Yikes!

The product, in the report: Cuisinart 7 cups Food Processor
Cuisinart Food Processor blade has a manufacturer defect. While chopping some salmon the stainless steel blade broke and a small piece of the blade ended inside my food. This is the second blade that broke, same place, next to the screws under it. Also sign of crack next to another screw. This blade is dangerous since it keeps breaking, and Cuisinart will not replace it, or recall this product.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart 14-cup Processor. On the bottom I can find: Custom 14 Model DFP-14BCN(TYPE 33) Approx 5 years old
I was processing peeled garlic. The food processor began to vibrate and then made a loud noise and stopped. Removed the lid and found the blade had broken (an entire “fin” had broken from the riveted area) and lodged itself deeply into the side of the workbowl, and the food was peppered with broken metal and plastic shards.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Food processor DLC-5 TX (Type 25)
The metal cutting attachment for a DLC-5 Cuisinart food processer (Blade says FP-100TX / DLC-10) broke off a piece of the metal blade between 2 of the rivets on the underside of the unit. We are not sure when this happened, as we never saw the missing piece of metal in our food. It could easily been eaten by someone if it broke off during processing and was hidden in a thick soup/puree. The processor is several years old. I will upload a photo.
The bottom of the unit indicates model: DLC-5 TX (Type 25) Not sure if this is a serial number, but the bottom of the unit has a stamped marking: 21119 EK

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Pro Classic DLC-10 Food processor with blade (FP-100TX)
While using the Cuisinart DLC-10 Food Processor to mix baby food one of the large metal blades (fp-100tx) broke off and shattered leaving metal pieces in the food. Product has been lightly used for just over a year. It looks like the blade is very poorly made and unsafe to use. Cuisinart should be issuing recalls for design flaws.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Food Processor DLC-10S blade
Last month, I was eating meatloaf and bit into metal, which I later realized came from the blade of my less than three year old Cuisinart DLC-10S food processor. I will post a picture if that feature is available. It broke at one rivet and is cracked around two others. I’m really lucky I didn’t break a tooth, cut my mouth, or swallow a piece of metal!
When I went to buy a replacement blade, I learned that it is common for these blades to break, and people have reported this to Cuisinart and to you. See http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-FP-100TX-blade/product-reviews/B000TENO5A/ref=cm_cr_dp_qt_hist_one?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0 and http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-FP-100TX-blade/product-reviews/B000TENO5A/ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_2?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addTwoStar&showViewpoints=0&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending Altogether, 19 of 68 reviewers mention their blade breaking or cracking.
My blade broke from the underside, which is not someplace I ordinarily see. Cuisinart should include a warning to inspect all parts of this blade after use.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart FP-14DC Elite Collection 14-Cup Food Processor, Die Cast http://www.cuisinart.com/products/food_processors/fp-14dc.html [REDACTED]
Cuisinart FP-14DC Elite Collection 14-Cup Food Processor, Die Cast
This food processor is equipped with a [REDACTED]safety feature that’s supposed to prevent the unit from running when the lid properly locked into place. However, on several occasions, once turning On the unit, it will not turn off. Removing the lid or pressing the Off button does not turn the unit off. The only way to turn it off is to unplug the unit from the wall. This means that the exposed sharp blade continues to run inside the food processor even when the [REDACTED]safety lid is removed, and this is extremely unsafe.
Upon reading reviews on several websites such as[REDACTED], it appears that this is a common issue that’s been reported by several consumers. I’m surprised that a safety recall does not already exist for this model food processor.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Mini-Prep Processor
I noticed that the plastic portion of the blade is cracking, with both radial and circumferential cracks. At the high speed the blade turns, I am concerned that this may be a safety hazard. I’m afraid that the high speed of the blade will cause it to come loose and possibly causing injury.

The product, in the report: Food Processor Cusinart Prep-7 2007N
While making a smoothie whith Cusinart Prep 7 this morning, a piece of the blade broke off into the food. This occurred in the same spot that is described in other complaints/reports, around one of the rivets. All the rivets had stress cracks, the device is about a year and a half old. I thought I was hearing seeds in the smoothies and if I hadnt examinded the blade closely probably would not have noticed. This REALLY scared me, I won’t be using this product any more. This is a dangerous manufactoring flaw, and someone is going to get seriously hurt. I shudder to think what would have happened if I had swallowed that shard.

The product, in the report: White Cuisinart 7-cup food processor
I was preparing to use my Cuisinart DLC-2007N 7C Food Processor. I put all of the parts together according to the instructions in the manual. When I turned on the machine, the stainless steel blade disengaged from the motor shaft and became lodged between the lid, the shaft in the bowl, and the base of the bowl. No injuries were incurred as a result of this incident. However, I saw there was a similar recall for similar models of Cuisinart 7 Cup Food Processors. Although the blade in question is different, the result could have been the same had the blade struck the lid at a slightly different angle. I believe that model DLC-2007N should be added to the recall list.

The product, in the report: food processor
I finished using the slicing blade and went to remove it. The only way to do this is to grasp the small black collar in the middle of the blade. The blade design seems poorly designed as there is no other way to remove the slicing blade except by the middle collar. The extremely sharp blades ends less than 1/2” from the collar and is raised making it very easy for fingers to come in contact with the blade.
I received a severe cut on my thumb when in came into accidental contact with the point of the blade.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart 12 cup food processor
I have a Cuisinart 12 cup food processor and I am disappointed in one aspect of its function that I believe is a grave safety concern. This model has push button on and off. There is no way to tell that this machine is on or off because it has flat “buttons”.
I plugged in my Food Processor, then attached the large work bowl with the work bowl cover attached (because of how I store the work bowl and cover and blades to keep them with the food processor away from my children, I had the large chopping blade and the Shredding disk inside the work bowl).
My machine was plugged in and as soon as I connected the work bowl to the machine, the chopping blade and shredding disk went spinning and swirling about inside the work bowl. I immediately unplugged my machine. My work bowl is scratched. My work bowl cover has the plastic rim shredded. I have a damaged chopping blade and damaged shredding blade.
I find this to be a huge safety issue as there is no way to tell that this machine is actually clicked into the “ON” position prior to plugging it in or connecting the work bowl. God forbid if this had continued and shattered my bowl sending metal blades through my kitchen.
There is no way to actually tell on this machine that the ON button is actually deployed. I find this feature to be a pure disregard for safety. There is no switch. I thought, given the structure of these buttons, that when unplugged, the “ON” switch would reset to the off position (or at least, this is what it would appear to do) so I thought the machine would not defaulty be “ON” given the fact that there is no way to tell (ie: a switch or other way to look at the machine to realize it’s turned on).

The product, in the report: Cuisinart food processor prep11 plus
My wife owns a Cuisinart Food Processor about six months old. I was helping my wife in the kitchen. I removed the basin from the motor base to pour out the semi-liquid contents into a storage container. As I poured about half the contents in the bowl the razor sharp blade fell out bounced off the counter and landed on the top of my right foot. I am aware that the blade just sits by gravity onto the motor shaft. However, when the basin is full you can’t see the blade. I was so surprise and disgusted with myself to see the blade literally shoot out and bounce off the counter.
It was late at night. The cut was very deep in the top of my foot on the highest point in line with my big toe. A compression bandage stopped the bleeding after losing 750cc of blood. I went to my doctor who butterflied and redressed my wound. It has been two months and my big toe is no longer controlled by the flexor tendon. It appears my Flexor hallucis longus tendon was either severed or damaged so badly I can’t lift my toe. The flexor tendon does not pull up making a ridge like it does on my uninjured left foot.
I believe that having a razor sharp blade held in place only by gravity, in a container designed to be tipped over to transfer processed food, is dangerous. The blade should be mechanically held in place to resist falling out. It makes no sense that you need to blindly reach through the processed food, that obscures the razor sharp blade only held in place by gravity, before you pour out the contents safely.
My foot will likely never be the same. I have intermittent sharp pain across the deep scar in my right foot. I would not consider surgery to repair the injury. Surgery could make it worse. The biggest bummer is the effect my injury has on my passion for rock climbing. The big toe strength is essential for free climbing. I am optimistic over time it will get better some or I’ll learn to compensate for the reduced big toe strength.
Please fix this problem with your food processor. Good Design does not cost much. Engineers, like myself, and manufacturers, like Cusiniart, have a duty to protect the public. As a licensed California Structural Engineer I take that responsibility very seriously.

The product, in the report: Food Processor, chrome, 9 Cup
When purchasing an item I have a tendency to read the good reviews and overall ranking and discount the poor ones because as a rule it is hard to please everyone. I am not one to complain but I feel it is my duty to write this review to prevent one from getting hurt by this machine. I have had the Prep 9™ 9-Cup Food Processor for about 2 months and I use this food processor only to process vegetables to make soups. The machine does a wonderful job as many reviews describe. I operate and clean this item as instructed. Yesterday while processing tomatoes I heard something that sounded like a pebble bouncing off the inner bowl as the unit was operating. When investigating I noticed that a sharp piece of the blade (about the size of half a [REDACTED]), broke off from its base and was lose in my processed tomatoes. Upon further review I noticed stress cracks around all four rivets that are used to attach the base of the blade to its crème colored plastic anchor. I escalated this issue to Cuisinart customer service and will be returning the Prep 9 to Crate and Barrel later today. Unfortunately due to the severity of this issue I will be purchasing another branded food processor. What scares me is that if I didn’t catch this I easily could have eaten/ ingested the piece of the blade with my food and who knows if I would have been around to write this review. Very Scary….. As stated before, I feel obligated to voice my concern with this product.

My wife cut her thumb and required 4 stitches. This occurred while washing and drying the dual purpose cutting blade for the first time. The problem is that the cutting blade is a disk and has cutting blades, for different purposes, on the top and the bottom. Of course the bottom ones are out of sight. After the incident I also washed and dried the disk and found that it was necessary to concentrate so as to not cut your fingers where you naturally hold it on the bottom.
I plan to return the appliance to the store.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart Pro Custom 11” food processor White Model #DLC-8S 90409 Serial #
I purchased model # DLC-8S serial #90409 Cuisinart Pro Custom food processor in September 2009. While using the plastic work bowl, pieces have continually fallen off into the food I am preparing. The first time it happened soon after purchase, the plastic was found in our meal. Subsequent times I have been able to catch the broken pieces and disposed of the food. This work bowl is clearly defective. The cracking includes both small internal fissures around tension points (crazing) and actual broken/cracked pieces. The final piece that engages the lock to operate the appliance has broken and the appliance is rendered inoperable.

[REDACTED] blade developed cracks in the blade at the rivet points. You can clearly see that the lower blade is dimpled from over-stressing the metal. This is the second time this has happened. The first time a piece of the blade actually had separated and got into the food. I found it while eating.
I called the company and let them know about the problem and they said that they didn’t have any problems with that blade. I replaced it and sometime later the same issue has developed again. This machine has been used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
I feel because of the possibility of pieces of metal breaking loose and getting into food this is a serious hazard, especially for children.
In light of the fact that Cuisinart has failed to address this problem makes even more important for the CPSC to get involved.

while using my Cuisinart Prep 9 food processor, the thin layer of metal on the bottom of the blade cracked and a shard over one eighth inch in diameter broke off into the food I was pureeing. If it hadn’t been for the fact that the food was light in color and liquefied, I may have never heard the metal shard and it could have easily been swallowed and done great physical harm.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart DLC-10 Food Processor
I have a Cuisinart DLC-10. The blade has a center plastic piece and two metal blades. The blades are connected thru the plastic center piece via rivets. There are pressure cracks occurring on the bottom blade around the rivets which is causing parts of the blade to come off and enter the food. I came very close to swallowing a metal piece from the blade in my hummus.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart 14 cup food processor with DLC-001TX blade. Age 6 years, usage heavy. I don’t know when the cracks started, just noticed when the piece fell off.
The standard blade for a 14 cup Cuisinart Food Processor (blade # DLC-001TX) has a critical failure that could be extremely dangerous. My blade just lost a small piece around the mounting rivets and was cracked through at all the rivets. Luckily I found the small piece of steel before it got into any food. While ordering a replacement blade on Amazon.com, I was horrified to read that this is not a new occurance. Many people have had the blades crack, some people have eaten the metal parts, and in some cases, the blades fly apart during use, exiting the machine. I suggest you look at the customer comments at this link. http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-DLC-001TX-stainless-steel-blade/dp/B000TEPM6O/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1343747489&sr=8-5&keywords=cuisinart+blade someone has even posted a picture of a completely broken blade. According to the online discussion, Cuisinart has not responded to complaints about this product flaw. I personally did not try to contact them.

The product, in the report: Cuisinart, mini prep plus food processor Serial number: 20923 Model number: DLC-2A
I was using my Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus to chop toasted sliced bread (not rock hard dried bread, but lightly oven toasted bread), and while the machine was on, one of the blades broke off and broke through the bowl. It got wedged there, with about an inch of blade sticking out. As the bowl regularly dislodges itself, I typically keep my hands on the bowl, and had I been doing it at that time I would have sustained a serious injury to my hand or wrist. Upon further inspection of the blade, I found that it had rusted off. I never machine wash the parts of my food processor, and take good care of it.

Danger! Danger! Danger! We have a Cuisinart mini Prep and the blade broke as well, smashed hole in the container and flew across the room. Thank goodness our 5 and a half year old granddaughter wasn’t with Grandma when this happened. This is a serious problem and this is the only forum where the problem is listed. e-mail me for pictures. [REDACTED] I have not posted this anywhere else, I am not disingenuous and I am very concerned about the safety of the users of this product. Yes! Cuisinart just suggests that you buy a new blade and bowl. This is a product safety issue. This product is a potential killer!!!!!!!!! [REDACTED]

The product, in the report: Cuisinart food processor Model Number : EV-7SA2 Color : stainless steel/black
The food processor bowl/lid assembly wasn’t locked in properly but still turned on & ended up spinning out of control. We were able to turn it off quickly & no one was hurt but this seems very dangerous to me. The plastic part that covers the metal rod on the base (the part that locks into the blade itself & spins) broke and the blade separated from the rest of the assembly. The cover was on, just not fully locked in for some reason, so the blade stayed contained.
