My daughter slept in the rock an play sleeper the one with the bear on it I would always lay a blanket on it so it was a little bit more comfortable for her so i would regularly change the blanket but never looked under the bear or under the material where the hard plastic is she was super sick an doctors said she had rsv when I was cleaning all of her stuff I then discovered the mold! Come to find out that is what got my daughter so sick!!! She is now on breathing treatments to try an help her breathe better. I am so upset with this company an that I was never notified that this was recalled an that you can still buy this product! If your going to sell parents need a warning that this is happening she never would of got better only worse if I nene would of found the issue and I have plenty of pictures I can send you . I purchased a fisher price rock and play sleeper before my daughter was born. She has used it for the past 4 months. It is a bassinet like sleeper that apparently has been recalled before. I did not know this, however after having seen the recall it is the same issue...MOLD. You would have thought they would have re-engineered the product considering this issue has happened in the past. There is a removable cover on it that I have taken off very frequently for washings. Having just moved and no longer having a washer or dryer in unit, it has been 2 weeks since it was last washed (which normally gets washed once a week.) Upon removal I discovered the mold. My daughter has recently been sick with cold like symptoms and I am hoping this is not the cause! I am extremely infuriated to say the least. Please do something! This can not be safe for any child!

When removing the fabric cover on my daughter’s Rock and Play to launder it, mold was discovered just beginning to grow on the cover as well as a significant amount of growth on the plastic formed seat. The cover has been routinely laundered since we began using the product after her birth in June. I have not noticed mold or any discoloration until now, but she is currently being treated for an upper respiratory infection and a cough that will not resolve over the past 6 weeks.
I Googled my concern and found that other consumers had experienced this same issue with the Rock and Play product. The statement that this issue is the result of uncleanliness, is not completely accurate. Our daughter’s cover has been washed every couple of weeks since birth and this still happened to us.

Caller stated that she experienced similar problems with her Rock N Play as the Recall number: 13-087. Hazard: Mold can develop between the removable seat cushion and the hard plastic frame of the sleeper when it remains wet/moist or is infrequently cleaned, posing a risk of exposure to mold to infants sleeping in the product. The CPSC advises that mold has been associated with respiratory illnesses and other infections. Although mold is not present at the time of purchase, mold growth can occur after use of the product.
Caller stated that this product was purchased new in 2015 , she started noticing black mold all around it although she cleans this product often.

I purchased this for my grandson ( born [REDACTED]) He has been using this since he was two months old. My daughter, just recently, noticed when she was washing it - that there was black mold around the lining of this item. This was being used by my grandson periodically during the day and he slept in it all night. He started developing a cough and horrible congestion which was diagnosed by the Pediatrician as bronchitis/allergies. He was put on breathing treatments (Nebulizer) three times daily. He has watery eyes constantly and has hives that break out all over his body for no apparent reason. These red spots/hives appear all over his body at different times as we can find no rthym nor reason for them. I am appalled that this item is still being sold. My daughter called Fisher Price directly and they only wanted to hear that we would accept a replacement??? Are you kidding me?????? This product will affect/effect my grandson in the future as he is now on medications and do not know if this is a permanent illness or not. Why is this class action lawsuit only for those who have a problem?????? What about the people who do NOT know about this horrible defect????? I am very upset over this and do not know how this is going to play out. My grandsons’ health is priceless to me and this product is certainly hindering his health.

On May 22, 2015, I removed the cover from my daughter’s Rock N Play Sleeper to wash as I had many times in the past. I originally purchased this Sleeper from Amazon sometime in January 2012 (for my firstborn daughter). I had heard about the recall due to mold when it came out in 2013, but I always kept an eye on the sleeper to make sure ours didn’t develop any mold. I first saw a few small spots on May 22nd but I wasn’t sure yet if it was mold (though the thought did cross my mind due to the recall). Today, on May 31st, I removed the cover again to check to see if the spots had changed and I found they had multiplied significantly.
I would like a replacement Rock N Play Sleeper as my youngest daughter does sleep so well in it and I love the product itself (I buy it for baby every shower gift!)

When removing the cover to my Rock ‘N Play Sleeper for washing, I discovered that there was mold growing underneath on the straps and the fabric that covers the hard plastic. This fabric and the straps are not removable. I always spot clean the cover, wipe off any spit up, and wash regularly. I am disgusted to learn that my baby has been sleeping on top of mold. Upon researching the internet, I have discovered that this is a common problem with this item.

We purchased a Fisher Price Rock N Play sleeper around November 15, 2014 for our daughter that was due in Jan 2015. On May 12th 2015 I took the cover off to wash it as I do once a week. In doing so I noticed that the material was moist and that there was a black spot in the seem. I turned the material over and noticed multiple spots of discoloration as well as more black in the seem where it is stitched. I have washed the material with stain remover, baking soda, and vinegar multiple times and I am unable to get the black mold out of the material. Our daughter will be four months old on the 22nd of this month. She is still currently sleeping in this product, but I am not using this material until I receive a replacement from the manufacturer.

I have a Fisher Price Rock and Play. My son has been using it since he was born in September. He has been having respiratory problems since he was born, including three trips to the emergency room. He uses a nebulizer/inhaler daily to combat the problem. Last weekend my husband removed the cover to the Rock and Play and found black mold under the cover. I’m concerned that the mold has been causing my sons respiratory problems. He was even sleeping in the Rock and Play at night because he was having trouble breathing and being more upright was suggested by the pediatrician.

I purchased a Fisher Price Rock’n Play for my newborn son about 7 months ago. My son was a preemie and suffers from severe acid reflux. Due to his acid reflux it was necessary for him to sleep at an angle. My husband and I searched everywhere for a product that we could lay our son in and not worry about the need to constantly prop him up. We located the Fisher Price Rock’n Play at our local Walmart. This product was everything we needed and more! Unfortunately I noticed some brown spotting/discoloration in the “seat” area. I removed the fabric and revealed MOLD! I washed and disinfected the plastic seat area and threw the fabric in the washer. The mold would not was out! I then re-washed the fabric and once again nothing had washed away. I smelled the fabric and it still had an odor. I am furious that my son was laying in mold! With him being a preemie, his immune system is lower than an average child.

The consumer’s daughter was born on [REDACTED] and before the consumer brought her daughter home from the hospital the consumer noticed the unit had mold. The consumer cleaned the unit but could not remove the entire mold. It came back eventually
The consumer’s primary safety concern with the unit is the restriction it has on a child’s ability to move their head while lying inside. The consumer’s daughter is suffering from a severe case of brachycephaly. The consumer’s daughter would be in the unit for about 6 hours daily up until she was 3 months. She was constantly up during the day. Off of her head. Her naps. She slept on her tummy on the consumer’s tummy. This is the only product she used other than in the car.
The consumer first noticed that the back of her daughter’s head was flat when her daughter was 3 months. The consumer brought this to the attention of her daughter’s pediatrician on her 3 month and 6 month appointment. However, the pediatrician [REDACTED], informed the consumer that it would go away. A different pediatrician, [REDACTED], examined the consumer’s daughter on her 9 month appointment and advised the consumer that her daughter had a severe case of brachycephaly 98%. Doctor [REDACTED] referred the consumer to a specialist who would provide the consumer’s daughter with a helmet, a form of treatment. The consumer’s daughter wore the helmet for about 6 weeks 23 hrs a day and the specialist doctor did not see improvement. The consumer visited another specialist who recommends that the consumer’s daughter go through surgery to reconstruct her skull.
The St. Louis Children’s Hospital dept. of plastic & reconstructive surgery list one specific product by name as a cause. The Rock N’ Play. And advise their doctors to tell parents not to allow over night sleep like the product states is safe. The specialist doctor who the consumer first visited informed the consumer that he has seen many cases of brachycephaly with infants who use the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers.

Fisher Price Rock N’ Play Infant Sleeper has been reported to have mold growing between the fabric and the plastic seat. I checked mine this morning and the fabric had mold spots but it was the tags that were actually covered in mold. I have washed this a few times, my daughter is 5 months old and used it the first few months to sleep at night and now occasionally sits in it or naps in it. I have pictures to show as well. She was seen by her doctor a couple months ago for congestion and difficulty breathing at night, and this was when she was consistently sleeping in the sleeper at night. Her congestion has improved dramatically since she no longer sleeps in the Rock N’ Play.

Recently saw a recall on Fisher Price Rock N Play. Discovered mold under the area in which our daughter sleeps. She is now 7 months old, at the time of 1 month old she began coughing and over the last 6 months has had two episodes (both in the night while sleeping in the rock n play) where she stops/has trouble breathing. Doctors haven’t really been able to determine exactly what is going on but they have began treating her for asthma. She has been tested for RSV multiple times and had numerous chest x-rays. Since she has stopped sleeping in the rock and play there has been improvements.

I got the rocker as a gift from a baby shower in 2013 for my son. He used it all the time and we never linked his breathing problem to the chair we simply thought the issue went away on its own and never put two and two together. Now my daughter who is currently.4 months old uses this chair everyday and for bed time its an nasesity for her to sleep in because she was born with a disability and this chair keeps.her in a comfortable position so she can sleep. She.has been having symptoms related with recall stated due to mold. She is currently on a treatment breathing machine. I just checked the lining of the cover and it was most defentily showing signs of mold. I’m a very tidy person and the cover gets washed and bleached about once a month or if it becomes messy before that. The growth of the mold is mostly in the seems where the fabric is sewn together and on the underneath on the hard plastic there was a few spots also. I bleached everything down but I’m not sure I am comfortable putting her back in the rocker. Do I need to worry about another fisher price things. I also have the big batterie opp swing that has a cover to. I will inspect for mold also.

The product, in the report: I have a Fisher price rock and play bassinet in brown and pink. When I took the pad off to change it and try to clean the moldy straps I realized there was mold in the pad! I had to cut the straps off because they were blackened from mold and i wanted that no where near my child. Once i saw the mold on the pad as well I put it in the closet and am now our $50+ because I can not, and will not, use something that that around my newborn!
I have mold in my rock and play between the materia, in fact the mold was so bad that i had to cut the straps because they were covered in mold!

I have a fisher price rock n’ play sleeper for my daughter and I seen a recall for them for having mold so I checked the plastic under the cover and there is mold on the plastic and the cover. My daughter has been using this product since she came home from the hospital and is now 2 months old. She has been sick the last 3 or 4 weeks and I’ve been wondering why it come and goes but won’t stay away and now I realize it must be from the exposure to the mold. This is very upsetting to me. These product we buy for our children are supposed to be fun and good for them but instead hurt them or make them sick! Somethings needs to be done about this!

I just found out about the recall on the Rock and Play sleepers. I am currently using it for my 5 month old twins to sleep in at night and now have no where for one to sleep. I have been using it for them since we brought them home from the hospital. Upon taking the item apart, I discovered the black mold spots on the sleeper! I am not sure how long it has been there. They both have coughs and have had respiratory issues for the past 5 months. Please advise on what can be done about this. Thank you.

I went to give my Fisher Price Rock N Play to a friend and found the lining was full of mold. I read the online instructions from the company for cleaning the rocker. We were going to use this for another baby so had been storing the rocker, folded up, and under my daughter’s crib. I had no idea there was a recall until I Googled the issue and found the recall. So my now 2 year old daughter, has been sleeping with a moldy rocker under her crib for her entire life. NOT happy. The Fisher price should be accepting returns and offering full refunds, not just instructions to clean it.

I was messaged by my sister in law today about the recall on the Fisher Price rock ‘n’ play sleeper. The report stated mold issues and could cause respiratory issues. My son has had breathing problems for the past few months he sounds congested and even has periods in his sleep that he stops breathing. We have consulted out doctor and found it not to be sleep apnea and even treated for possible reflux but that didn’t work. Seemed that we couldn’t find the cause. As soon as I got the message about the recall I called my husband and had him pull the top piece off and check. What he found mortified and disgusts me. His sleeper is full of mold! I’ve taken pictures and will be making an appointment first thing tomorrow to make sure there’s no serious issues of this extensive mold exposure. As a parent it is a sickening feeling knowing I was subjecting my infant son to such a disgusting thing.

My mother in law bought us the rock and play sleeper for my son who would not sleep flat in his crib anymore, it was working great. Yesterday, I took it apart to wash the outer piece and there was mold on the back of it. Last week my son had an upper respiratory infection and scared me to death. Obviously this product made him sick. I wash it frequently because he spills milk and drools in it a lot, sometimes he overflows his diapers, so it gets washed at least once a week. I see no good reason for this product to mold with that frequent of washing.

I went to take the cover to the rock and play sleeper off to wash it and noticed there was something on the bottom of it. I looked a little slower and realized it was mold. The rock and play sleeper was purchased from Target and was given to me August 2013. My daughter has been sleeping in the sleeper since she was a newborn. She has had recent issues of congestion problems.

There is black and red mold on the removable seat cushions and on the non-removable safety straps. I have never had a wetness incident in the bassinet (e.g., large spit up or diaper leakage), so I was shocked that there was enough moisture to produce mold!

This is the message I sent Fisher Price on their Facebook page: I am extremely upset, irritated, and angered over the BEST product you put out: the Rock ‘N Play infant sleeper. We purchased our first one for our little girl and it was the smartest purchase we made. After your recall was made in Jan 2013 due to mold growth, we inspected ours and tried our best to clean it according to your instructions; it did not work. Understandably these things happen. We had to throw that one away and purchased a new one a short time later since we were expecting our second child. We began using it and wash the outer fabric frequently. Upon removing the liner yesterday I noticed mold growth on this product purchased AFTER the recall. UNACCEPTABLE, Fisher-Price. I trusted the products you put out after the recall would be deemed safe. Our 6 month old son was in the ER on Sunday with respiratory illness. It makes me sick to think this could have been from the Rock ‘N Play sleeper. Does the recall that was made in Jan 2013 affect all future products?!? If so, that should have been made clear because I can assure you I would not have put my son at risk.

We have a Fisher Price sleep n play. My son uses it to sleep in due to his reflux. We have used it for 8 months and wash and clean regularly. Today I went to clean it and it was covered in mold. My son has been treated for pneumonia, ear infections, cough, and other respiratory issues in the last month. I don’t know if this is why, but He quit sleeping in this on 2/26/14 and everything cleared up. I didn’t know about the recall until today when discovering the mold because we got this from a friend. We now have a large medical bill due to his pneumonia and other office visits. I have also tried to clean this by soaking it in a tub with bleach 2 and scrubbing with a hard scrubber and it has not come clean.

My twins were badly affected by the mold in the fisher-price rock n play. They were in and out of the hospital and doctors for breathing problems. When the recall was issued, we checked the rockers and we found significant amount of mold. They suffered from bronchitis, pneumonia, and are always using a nebulizer to avoid further pneumonia or infection in the lungs. Any guidance would be much appreciated. I still have the rockers wrapped up and put away in storage.

My son had a cold last week (2/3/14)and was stuffy. His pediatrician recommended I place him in the bathroom daily so that the steamed air would help him. I placed him in his rock n’ play sleeper in the bathroom for 15-20 minutes daily for 5 days and sat with him. I saw the recall on face book and checked his sleeper immediately. I noticed a small area of black spots. the mold was located on the bottom of the cover that sits on top of the hard plastic piece. Hopefully it has not been there long exposing my 3 mo old to it. It may have been due to being in the moist air in the bathroom but nonet he less the product is obviously not ventilated properly for this infant product. I appreciate fisher price posting the recall to help prevent the harm of infants exposed to mold.
