The product, in the report: Samsung PN51F5300AFXZA is a 51-inch 1080p plasma HDTV

Last night, we turned on our Samsung TV and heard a loud pop. When we turned it on a second time, we heard another loud pop, then flames came from out the back of the TV in two spots for about 2 seconds. We immediately unplugged it, removed it from the wall, put it in the center of an open room and got a fire extinguisher handy. After a few hours, additional fire risk is gone. The TV has had permanent vertical lines on the left side of the display for approximately one year, but it has otherwise been functional.

This is incredibly concerning. I am grateful it happened when I was using it and not a child so I could take appropriate measures. We own two other similar Samsung TVs and are wondering if we need to get rid of them. What’s next?

The product, in the report: 50-inch Samsung flat TV

On June 20th, I was sleeping in my basement when I woke up to smoke and the smell of burning plastic. I noticed that my 2016 Samsung 50-inch TV (Model UN50J6200AFXZA) was smoldering in the bottom-left corner. I immediately unplugged the TV to prevent further risk or damage.

As a combat veteran diagnosed with chronic PTSD, I often sleep with the TV on for background noise. I had set the TV to turn off after two hours of use, but this did not happen. The screen was blank, yet I could still hear the sound from the channel.

I have heard about multiple similar incidents involving various Samsung models, which motivated me to create this report. After contacting Samsung, they requested physical proof that I had removed the label with the model and serial number. Samsung offered me a refund of approximately 10% (around $50). While this was a nice gesture, the core issue remains unaddressed. I am concerned that someone could lose their home, become injured, or, even worse, lose their life due to this problem.

    Thank you for your concern

The product, in the report: Samsung 65” 4K Smart TV (Model: UN65NU6950FXZA, S/N: 080D3CDK907512V)

I am writing to formally report a serious safety incident involving my Samsung 65” 4K Smart TV (Model: UN65NU6950FXZA, S/N: 080D3CDK907512V). On 2/6/2026, while shutting the unit down, the television emitted a visible spark and a loud “pop” from the bottom-left corner of the panel. This was followed by a distinct smell. I immediately unplugged the unit to prevent a potential structure fire. The TV is now completely unresponsive and, more importantly, remains a fire hazard. Upon researching this specific model and series, I discovered that this is a well-documented issue. It appears the “edge-lit” LED strips are prone to catastrophic thermal failure, which can melt the internal light guide and lead to the sparking event I experienced. There was no collateral damage nor any personal injuries.

Samsung NU8000 49” 4K TV spontaneously exploded (loud banging noises), emitted flaming embers and a 1 foot wide plume of smoke. Immediately unplugged the TV to avoid further fire risk. Apartment had to be aired out for an hour to get rid of chemical smell. Samsungs customer support seems to be designed to make it impossible to get any kind of recourse. They wanted to repair the television as the only solution, which seems risky and dangerous after such an extreme incident.

On 11/30/2025, my 2018 Samsung smart TV abruptly started sparking and producing smoke, before I quickly turned it off. This was after 10 minutes of regular use. The TV has evidence of damage. The frame of the TV has burn marks. There were no injuries that happened, however it could have easily started a fire if the sparks had caught on something flammable and had I not quickly unplugged the TV from the wall socket.

The product, in the report: Samsung 77 in Class S84D Series 4K OLED Smart Tizen TV

A Geek Squad technician came to inspect my Samsung TV, which had a white line on the screen and small surface scratch but was otherwise safe and stable. During the inspection, the technician pressed directly on the panel and the screen immediately cracked further and began emitting thick smoke and a strong burning odor. The smoke filled the room and lingered for hours, creating a fire safety and health hazard. The TV never produced smoke or any electrical smell before the visit. The technician appeared surprised and said “I’ve never seen that happen before.” My husband unplugged the TV immediately to prevent a fire. Both my husband and I became sick after likely caused by smoke exposure. I contacted Best Buy multiple time afterward, but they have refused to take responsibility for their technicians actions or escalate the matter as a safety incident. The TV remains unstable and unsafe to plug in due to the internal damage and burned odor caused during the service.

UPDATED ON 1/20/2026: [Since submitting my original report, the manufacturer (Samsung) contacted me regarding the incident. Samsung attempted phone contact multiple times, which routed to voicemail. I responded promptly in writing via email and expressed concern about powering the unit on again due to prior smoke and an electrical burning odor that occurred during a third-party service inspection. No alternative safety-based inspection or investigation was offered. The service provider (Best Buy/Geek Squad) acknowledged that smoke occurred but declined escalation or safety review and classified the damage as “physical damage not covered under any warranties,” without addressing the electrical hazard. The product has not been repaired, removed from service, or subject to a safety-focused evaluation and remains unsafe to power on. I am submitting this update to document ongoing safety concerns and the lack of a non-operational safety investigation following a smoke and electrical failure event.]

I purchased a Samsung 85” tv model #QN85QN8O0BFXZA. I paid to have the tv installed on a wall mount. I have never needed to move the tv till 3 weeks ago to replace the cable box. When I tipped the tv on the wall mount I touched the edge of the tv and it cut me. Upon further inspection the whole perimeter of the tv has an extremely sharp metal band around the outside. I have contacted samsung about this matter to have the tv fixed or replaced, neither have happened. The metal band/bezel is extremely sharp.

The product, in the report: Samsung 50” Class - U8000F Crystal UHD Series - 4K Smart TV

I bought this item at Costco on 8/14/25. Today is 10/24/25 - a little over two months later. Last night, my TV started getting black horizontal lines and glitching/turning itself off shortly after I turned it on. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I tried turning it back on a couple times, only for it to go through the same actions twice more. I noticed the lines started radiating from one location on the far-right side of the screen. I found a small spot of obvious damage on the right edge of the screen, which at I first thought “did I accidentally hit it with something? Did I crack it somehow?”, but after inspection it is clearly MELTED, not chipped or damaged from being hit with an object. The screen and housing behind it were also very hot to the touch, so hot I had to yank my hand away. I turned off and unplugged the TV immediately.

Thankfully the unit shorted out turned itself off, but it was hot enough I feel like it could have easily caught fire and potentially burned my house down, killing myself and my animals. This is absolutely unacceptable in my opinion.

The product, in the report: 65 inch TV (Samsung QN65Q6FNAFXZA)

On August 3, 2025, a fire nearly started when we attempted to power on our 65 Samsung QN65Q6FNAFXZA. The unit sprayed sparks from the back for about 5-6 seconds and emitted a white/gray smoke. My wife and I were using the product at the time, with our dog on her bed right next to the TV. While there were no injuries, it did result in damage to the dresser it was sitting on.

After this occurred, we immediately contacted Samsung, who then escalated our case to a Specialty Claims department. They then scheduled an appointment for a technician to inspect the unit, but declined to acknowledge that this is a serious safety issue and only offered/recommended a repair and to keep using the TV.

Samsung then closed our ticket saying the TV was working when it isn’t, and has also not been responsive even after numerous calls to their customer service line and directly to the rep assigned to our case. We believe it’s important for us (and others) to be aware of what could have even caused an issue like this, and we would have hoped that they document and take this issue seriously so that others are not affected or even harmed by a potentially hazardous product.

The product, in the report: Samsung S95D 77” OLED TV

I am filing a complaint regarding the Samsung S95D 77 OLED TV due to a serious safety issue. No one was injured, but the TV tripped our home circuit breaker while no one was home, which poses a serious fire hazard and electrical safety risk. That is why I am submitting this report eventhough there was no physical injury. I have had two units fail. The first failed within one week of installation. The second tripped my homes circuit breaker while no one was home, creating a serious fire hazard.

I have since discovered that multiple other consumers have reported the same issue involving this model and its Slim One Connect Box, particularly with the 77 version. Reports include repeated circuit breaker trips and unit failure shortly after installation.

I have made repeated efforts to work with Samsung to resolve this. However, they continue to refuse a refund unless I authorize repair, which I have declined due to the electrical hazard and the pattern of failure.

I am submitting this report so the CPSC is aware of the safety concern, the potential fire risk, and the broader scope of this issue affecting others.

    Update 9/10/2025:

Since filing the original report, the following has occurred:

    1. Samsung has refused to issue a refund, stating that only an in-home repair is available.

    2. I have declined repair due to a potential fire hazard. The TV tripped our circuit breaker while no one was home.

    3. I submitted a formal complaint with the [REDACTED] on August 21, 2025. Samsung has not resolved the issue as of September 8.

    4. Multiple other consumers have reported similar issues with this same model — including tripping breakers, multiple replacements, and ongoing power failures.

    5. I’ve notified Samsung that I will not allow in-home repair due to the risk and repeated product failure.

Additionally, under U.S. consumer protection law, including the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, consumers are not always obligated to accept repeated or inadequate repairs—especially when a product defect presents a safety concern or creates a risk of harm. I believe a refund is warranted in this case and should not be contingent on further repair attempts that may not resolve the underlying hazard.

The product, in the report: Samsung Smart TV Remote included with TV Model number QN43Q8FAAFXZA. Remote Model Number is VG-TM2560. Remote contains solar and USBC Charging. Manufacturerd 2025.01.11. Other numbers on the remote include the following: THSRBN5901480A SMJNY1B8504 TM2560E Part Code: BN59-01480A [REDACTED] Remote is made in Thailand according to the label.

I recently purchased a new Samsung Smart TV (2025 Model Number QN43Q8FAAFXZA). I was using the the remote control in my hand when I felt and heard a little pop noise. I flipped it over because it felt like it came from the back of the remote and discovered that inside of the unit the Solar charging panel has shattered in multiple places. The shatter patterns looks almost as if it was improperly placed. Because this device charges via both solar and USBC, the two charging methods are connected internally. This could pose a major safety threat to users in regards to overheating or possibly worse, resulting in fire damage. This is not unlike how solar chargers that use a solar panel on top of the battery pack are dangerous because they can cause overheating due to the placement of the battery and the absorption of light energy which radiates heat as well when making contact with the solar panels. Under the plastic cover beneath which sits the solar panel, there is now discoloration of the panel with a rainbowing effect to it.

Remote is still functioning despite this which could result in users being completely unaware of this problem placing them at further risk, especially children and the elderly or disabled. Device also has grip sensors which could malfunction and cause this as well and could further destabilize the product potentially or be a cause of this occurring if someone grips it too hard etc. There is no removable battery to prevent further overheating of the device which means the device remains faulty and continuing to pose a risk to all around it should the lithium ion battery combust internally from the heat caused by charging or normal everyday operation.

The remote has not been dropped, it hasn’t been placed in direct sunlight or by windows, and has been only in an air conditioned room. It does feel slightly warm to the touch.

Fortunately, the noise of the fire inside of the TV was what woke me, and I was able to turn off and unplug the TV. I decided to file this complaint due to a persistent issue with a Samsung TV model UN65AU800FXZA, which I previously reported in Report No. [REDACTED] published on SaferProducts.gov.

Following my initial report, Samsung sent technicians to remove and repair the TV. However, after the repair, the TV still has serious problems:

Overheating: The TV continues to overheat excessively, which could potentially cause a fire. Partially lit screen: Even when the TV is turned off, part of the screen remains lit, causing continuous electricity consumption and posing an additional risk to the user. Despite contacting Samsung again, the company refuses to take responsibility, even though they performed the repair. Instead, they want to charge for another inspection of the device.

My primary concern is to prevent anyone from being injured or losing their life due to the manufacturer’s negligence. I believe this situation is serious and requires the CPSC’s intervention to ensure consumer safety.

Thank you for your attention and I hope the necessary measures will be taken to address this issue.

    ---FROM SPANISH---

I decided to file a report with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission because of my deep concern about the safety of the Samsung Model UN65AU800FXZA TV, which I experienced serious problems in my home in Miami, Florida. On Saturday the 11th of this month, while using the TV, the screen was cut off in half and then turned off completely. I noticed that the TV was extremely hot, which raises serious concerns about potential fire hazards and personal safety for me and my family. As the primary user of the TV in our home, we follow all the manufacturer’s instructions for proper use. Although fortunately there were no physical injuries as a result of these problems, the possibility of a fire due to overheating was a real concern. Therefore, I am submitting this report in the hope that action will be taken to address these issues and ensure the safety of consumers across the country.

The product, in the report: 65” Samsung QLED tv (model QN65Q90TAFXZA)

I bought a new 65” Samsung QLED tv (model QN65Q90TAFXZA) three weeks ago. Upon turning it on for the first time the setup audio came on, but the screen stayed black. After about 60 seconds there were loud popping noises and smoke started coming out of the top of the housing. I ran over and unplugged it and got my wife to grab one end of it and we rushed it outside as it continued to smoke. We got back inside and my wife was very shaken up. She is currently 13 weeks pregnant and began freaking out about whether breathing in that smoke could have hurt the baby. My entire house also smelled like chemical smoke, so I opened up all the windows (it was below freezing outside) and turned on a box fan. I then called Samsung, and they told me that this is something they take very seriously and I would be contacted within 24 hours by the group that handles this type of thing.

Two days go by with no call. I call back and they tell me that I was supposed to get a call and they will make sure I do, and that I will definitely get a call in 24-48 hours. Two more days goes by with no call, so I call again asking if they can just transfer me to whoever is supposed to call me. They transfer me and I speak with someone who asks me to explain exactly what happened, then repeats everything I told her back to me to make sure she has all the details. She then asks what resolution I’m looking for. I told her I would like a replacement since the tv caught on fire as soon as I turned it on, and I don’t feel safe with it in my house given what happened. She tells me she will see what they can do, and I will be contacted within 48 hours for next steps.

A few hours later I get a call from a local repair shop saying they have been asked to come look at the tv and see what happened. I schedule an appointment and a few days later a tech comes out to take a look. He opens it up and sure enough one of the connectors on a driver board had caught on fire and melted the connector and board. He plugs the tv back in and the connector starts popping and flaming and says “Yep, that’s definitely the issue”. He takes pictures of everything and puts the TV back together and tells me that they will order a new board and once it’s in they will replace the board and it should be good as new. I expressed to him that I don’t want the TV in my house at all. It still stinks like burnt chemicals, and I don’t trust it. At this point I have seen the TV catch fire twice, and I want nothing to do with it. He tells me that he has no say in the matter and I’ll have to talk to Samsung about it.

I call Samsung back and tell them I won’t accept a replacement part and that I don’t feel safe with the TV in my house given that I’ve seen it catch on fire twice now. They said that they would put in an inquiry to see if it would be possible to get a replacement, and that I should get a response to the inquiry in 48 hours. This was on Friday. This morning I get a call from Samsung and they say that despite my experience they are only offering to replace the board that caught on fire with a new one, and that their policy does not allow them to provide any other resolution. Despite expressing to them multiple times that we don’t feel safe with the tv in the house, and that we’re already concerned about the smoke exposure to my pregnant wife, they told me that their policy does not offer any other resolution.

The product, in the report: 50” Samsung Flat screen tv-

Learned that my Samsung 50” flat screen TV was starting to act funny, a few days later the tv screen didn’t work anymore. I went to go pull the tv out from the wall mount it is on to see the back and check the size. While grabbing the tv I cut my finger. I looked further into where I grabbed and realized that the tv had gotten so hot in the one area that the screen, beveled frame area were all melted and the screen shattered some. The plastic border is bubbly and an area has a brown tint to it. No physical injuries sustained but mental injuries that I can elaborate on later did occur. What could have happened?? Started a fire and then possible wrongful death!! My PTSD is now terribly triggered and I can explain more via talking to someone

Samsung TV was in use when backlight suddenly stopped working on left side of screen. While on phone with Samsung support with TV on, bottom right of screen became visibily warped with white bubbles. I tried touching the warped area to see if it was something peeling off, but it was extremely hot so I could not keep my finger on the screen at all. The whole right side had become hot, but the bottom right was too hot to touch. No permanent injury, but could have been seriously burned if I kept my finger on there for more than a couple of seconds. Per instructions from Samsung support representative (and instinct), I unplugged the TV within 15 seconds of getting burned. _

I was ending the support call with the Samsung representative when I noticed the warping, and at no point did the representative suggest the backlight failure might be due to a larger issue that would result in a burning or fire hazard. I don’t remember if the representative told me to touch the area or if I did so on my own volition, but in any case I was never warned about the possibility of burning or fire while troubleshooting the issue. _

This TV was purchased a little over 3 years ago, so failure like this was unexpected. It was in a good temperature and humidity environment (in living room, away from open windows or direct sunlight, with plenty of space for heat dissipation, frequently dusted off TV stand), and never moved off the TV stand since purchase in November 2018. _

I have a bad photo of the backlight failure, but no photo of the burning screen since I was on the phone with Samsung support when that occurred and immediately unplugged the TV. I can take more photos or videos upon request, but that requires me plugging in the TV again which I have avoided since the fire hazard became clear. _

Other reports to the CPSC and posts on both the US and EU Samsung Members Community forums indicate similar problems on Samsung TVs: extreme overheating, melting screen and plastic in lower-right area, in some cases with actual flames/fire. Some of those other reports mention similar backlight or other failures, followed by overheating or fire.

I purchased a Samsung 4k Model # UN65JS8500FXZA smart tv 2016 and it is becoming to be a fire hazard. The tv is becoming excessively hot to the touch. The screen is developing a dark Ghost shadow from the pixel lights burning through the screen. I’ve contacted Samsung support but they say my warranty is expired, i let them know this is not a warranty issue because to many consumers with this model are having the same issues and it is a total recall issue. No one would expect to spend over $3,000 for a product that would last only 4 years to become unusable and become a fire hazard. This product has been discontinued and this is usually why Samsung would take them off the market. To have the tv repaired would only lead back to this issue because of the design flaw, it’s a fire hazard. If the tv catches fire the warranty only covers the tv not your home this makes this a recall issue.

I own a Samsung TV model # un65js8500 purchase 4 years ago. Recently, we noticed distortion and light bleed around the edges of the screen. These areas also were extremely hot to the touch. I did an online search and found many incidents of this problem.

    [REDACTED]

I contacted Samsung, sent them photos of my set and they were unwilling to give any relief.

My concern is that the extreme heating that is occuring could pose a fire hazard. Some of the complaints indicated the frame melting and people smelling the heat. I have not been able to measure the temperature of my set, but it is enough that I am unable to touch the set for more than a second without danger of injuring my fingers.

It appears that Samsung is stone walling that there are issues with this model and are ignoring the potential safety issues.

I was cooking dinner for my children, and I noticed a strange high pitch noise. Went out to where my kids were, they were watching a movie. Noticed the noise was coming from the TV, and what looked like a smudge or something on the bottom left corner. Went to wipe at it and burned my fingers, not to the point of needing a hospital though. The TV was seconds from being on fire endangering my children and myself. It started to melt the plastic trim below the screen. This is a Samsung UN50J5200AFXZA.

I wasn’t sure if it would have exploded, but after a quick [REDACTED] it looks like it would have just melted. My biggest concern is families with young children, they could very easily burn their fingers and get hurt on this tv. I wish I had a way the measure the temperature it reached, I have a high threshold for heat and I couldn’t touch it for more than a second. If I can provide any further details, please let me know.

I purchased a Samsung smart tv on 8/15/15, tv is used only when company is over, due to its in living room, I turned tv on Sunday to watch super bowl, I noticed black screen, but it had sound, I thought it just needed to warm up because it’s used probably once monthly if that much, then I noted several colored lines going down middle of screen, and an odor like a chemical burning, couldn’t tell where odor was coming from, I then noticed a bright yellow dot on left side bottom of screen , frame of tv below dot seem warped, when I rubbed it to see why it wasn’t even with the frame it burned my finger, it was very hot and that’s the odor I smelled, the screen or panel of tv was melting, I turned tv off and unplugged it and went on line, I saw where several people had same problem, I’m afraid this tv will catch fire and burn down my house, I saw dates back to 2016, people were having same problem, I called Samsung on Monday, I was told due to tv is passed warranty, they will not pay to fix it, I mention it being a safety hazard and asked to speak to manager, I was placed on hold for 25 minutes until I hung up. I saw on line where Samsung replaced a few screen as a one time courtesy, consumers were told panel may get hot an melt again, that’s not safe, I believe this is an internal problem so replacing the panel / screen is no fix for a fire hazard, it gets very hot just on side where yellow dot was, I believe if I had not turned it off, it may have ignited a fire, people that are not aware are at a real risk, especially if you turn on and fall asleep. Thanks

We have a 50” Samsung LED TV, Model UN50F6300AF, Serial: Z6WF3CCDA00946E. A couple days ago we noticed vertical lines that ran across the screen, fading the picture in and out. Then today the screen went black. Upon examination, we noticed a spot on the screen in the lower right hand corner that was white. The plastic frame in that same area was extremely hot and it appeared the plastic was melting there as well. We have called Samsung and reported the incident. A customer service rep told us they are turning our case over to product liability and we are awaiting a call from that department.

Our children turned on our Samsung LED television set this morning and woke me up saying there was something wrong with the television. I came downstairs and saw that the television had strange colored lines and the bottom and then in the bottom left corner there was a bright white dot on the screen with some red it in as well. Tried switching channels, turned off and on, and it remained. Shortly thereafter, we smelled a burning smell coming from the television and open closer inspection, I observed that the left corner of the television had melted! I touched it and it was extremely hot (no injury). I contacted Samsung customer service and they provided no service once they determined there was no injury or damage to property, since the warranty expired 7 months ago. I encouraged to them this wasn’t a warranty issue but safety issue. I searched on the internet and found numerous instances to this model line of Samsung LED televisions of the approximate same age doing the same thing, some of which consumers reported combusted. There were 24 pages of consumers reporting this same issue on the Community Forum support section of Samsung’s customer support website. I also posted our experience and pictures as well. I feel strongly that this product should be recalled. Many people sleep with their television on and had someone not been paying attention to the television, a fire certainly could have started. Pictures are attached of the television.

This is regarding my Samsung flat screen t.v. Model No. UN50J6200AF, Model Code UN50J6200AFXZA. Version No. DH03. When I turned on my t.v. last Thursday night, there were vertical lines on the screen/display that went away after a few minutes, so I kind of ignored it. I did not use the t.v. again until last night (Tues). It had the vertical lines initially, but they faded again. I watched about ten minutes, and then paused it about 10 minutes to talk to my daughters. When we were done talking, my 16 year old walked by the t.v. and said what’s wrong with the t.v.? To indicated the problem, she touched the lower left hand corner (where the glass and plastic frame meet). Apparently, the area was so hot the plastic was melting and she actually burned her finger (not badly) when she accidentally touched it while pointing at it. She said it was a fire hazard, I agreed, and turned the t.v. off. I Googled “samsung tv melting” and there is a thread on samsung.com customer support of over 200 posts regarding this issue. There should be a recall.

The smoke stopped and the fire appeared to be out so we brought the Samsung inside but did not plug it in. I called Samsung and the Customer Svs rep said that the dept that handles these issues would call me back in 2 hours or tomorrow. I also called Sams Club which is where we purchased the TV and told them what happened. There was no damage to my home.

Turned on television in the morning. Immediately noticed lines on the display that quickly deteriorated until the picture was nothing but vertical white/black lines. Smelled electrical components burning so immediately unplugged the unit. Visual examination of unit showed that the lower left corner of bezel had begun to melt. Television unit was owned for 13 months, but only in regular use for 10 months. This unit is a fire hazard, and a recall should be issued by the manufacturer (Samsung). I have attempted to remedy this through the manufacturer, but am not getting my hopes up due to the unit being just past the one year warranty period.

Folding laundry on 4/23/17 watching tv. All of a sudden, TV starts having a sizzling/hissing sound. A minute or 2 later, smoke begins billowing out of the back and begins having a small flame coming out of the back. I dove for the outlet and unplugged it. The smoking almost immediately stopped and the flame disappeared. We purchased the TV new and I have always been concerned about the amount of heat it put off.

Had we not been home (we normally are not home Sunday nights), our house would have burned down and potentially killed our pets.

The TV is a 9-10 year old Samsung Plasma with a 100,000 hour life rating. This means the TV should have lasted 60-70 years depending on usage, not 9-10. Now the TV is inoperable.

I have a Samsung PN59D8000FF Smart TV. The BN59-01134B (2-in1 Qwerty Remote Control for Samsung SMART TV RMC-QTD) has melted the batteries and leaked acid onto my fingers when I struggled to open it. The batteries are stuck to the battery compartment and the interior of the remote is covered with the acid. It does not work. This is the second BN59-01134B remote I have had; the first was ruined by the exact same problem of leaking batteries.

In looking for a replacement on Amazon, I found many reviews that showed the problem I have experienced is common: one reviewer said the remote exploded in her face; another said the batteries were burned leaving a lot of debris and damaged the remote altogether; and yet another said the remote caused batteries to leak inside and that Samsung is aware of this problem.

The only way this remote can work is to remove the batteries after a few minutes of use. If one forgets, as we did, the batteries are drained in a few days or melted by the remote.

My Samsung 6-series Smart-HDTV was on and I left the room to take a phone call. I heard my dog start barking frantically from the other room and also heard a weird popping sound. I returned to the living room (where the TV was) and saw sparks shooting out of the lower left-hand corner of the TV, where the screen meets the bezel of the frame. I ran into the kitchen to get a fire extinguisher and by the time I ran back into the living room, the sparks had become an actual flame about 2 inches high and part of the TV was melting. I used the fire extinguisher to put the fire out and immediately unplugged the TV so it wouldn’t start sparking again. Nothing else in the house was damaged and there were no injuries to me or my pets. I called Samsung and they’ve been giving me the run-around ever since.

The product, in the report: Samsung 55 inch Television model UN55KS8000

I purchased a Samsung 8000 55 inch TV on 1/6. Out of the box the TV came with a bad remote. I called Samsung support and they said that they would send me a new remote, however it could take up to 20 days. The TV is useless without the remote. I went ahead and told them to send me the new remote however they needed the Serial Number on the back of the TV. The support person said that there was a way to get the Serial Number from one of the menu options, however you needed the remote to get there. So, I moved the TV to get the Serial Number that you can barely read on the back. In the process the TV slipped off of the stand because of the poorly designed chicken leg stand. The TV fell over and cracked the screen.

I went to a big box store to look at different TVs, and the salesperson told me that he’s been seeing a lot of problems with these TVs because of the poorly designed stand. According to him, these TVs have vibrated off of stands just from regular use. The chicken legs at both sides is very poorly designed. These TVs are dangerous when used on a stand.

I noticed striations in the image on the TV screen, which didn’t make sense since it wasn’t a live feed. I immediately turned the TV off and then noticed smoke coming from a spot on the lower left hand corner of the screen. I looked closer and saw that that spot had burned through the screen and had melted the plastic TV frame immediately under it. I turned the TV back on several hours later, the Samsung logo briefly appeared in gray tones and then the screen went blue, and where the burn spot was, there was a white spot with rainbow colors around it. The screen quickly went black and the TV was no longer functional.

The product, in the report: PLASMA TV SLIM MOUNT

I would like to report a high safety hazard regarding the SAMSUNG slim TV Mount WMN3000BX. I used this mount to attach my SAMSUNG TV model [REDACTED] to the wall. This mount is rated for this TV model. All products were genuine, purchased from BestBuy After 2 yrs, without any warning, the mount has failed: TV fell on the floor damaging a table, tiles, and almost kill my cat!!. It would have been a kid, same results. SAMSUNG was contacted and dispatched a tech from a local shop. Guy who came had no clue about why he was dispatched, took pictures and sent them to SAMSUNG. After 8 phone calls and endless hours on the phone with their ECR Team, they do not want to budge, TV set and mount are outside warranty. They do not want to replace the TV since the unit is not repairable. SAMSUNG has a family of slim mounts rated for different TV models and weight: [REDACTED], [REDACTED] and WMN3000BX. All these mount must be recalled as soon as possible and SAMSUNG must be responsible for all the risks and damages encountered. This is not an isolated case and I was able to find videos and testimonials on the web, about similar failures. This has to stop immediately before someone gets kills by their TV !!

The product, in the report: 32” Samsung flat screen television

I have a 32” Samsung flat screen TV that I purchased about 3 years ago. My children were in my room watching cartoons on it but they came out telling me that something smelt really bad and they couldn’t be in my room. I go into my bedroom to see smoke and sparks coming out of the back of the TV! There was no picture on the screen but sound still coming out. I unplugged it immediately! I’ve tried to contact Samsung and have had nothing but trouble from them! It’s not like the TV just quit working but the fact that it very easily could have started a fire and who knows what else would have happened if my children wouldn’t have told me about it or we were not home!

On February 5, 2016 about 10:30 pm I was watching tv and noticed a bright light in the lower left corner of my Samsung Smart tv, as I watched it got bigger and then a red spot appeared and it grew bigger also. I went to the tv and saw that it was actually on fire and immediately unplugged it. The frame and the screen were actually melted and very hot. I purchased the Samsung Smart HDTV Model UN50F5500AF in June of 2014. I believe this is a very serious safety hazard and that if I had not unplugged it, a serious fire would have resulted. I have reported this to Samsung today and am waiting to hear back from them.

The product, in the report: 60” plasma tv

While watching my Samsung plasma TV a short developed and kicked my breaker off. I have arc fault breaker’s in my house not the old type breakers. I had very loud cracking and popping sound and a small amount of smoke before my breaker tripped. I contacted Samsung about this problem I had and the safety concern I also had. Samsung said that they were going to send an authorized repair man out to find out what the problem was at no cost to me. However the authorized repair company says I will have to pay for the service call out and I have been going round and round with both parties with nothing getting resolved. I know this TV is out of warranty however I am concerned about the safety issue. I am concerned if somebody had an older circuit breaker in their house this TV would have caused a fire. I would like to report what happened to me in my TV so others can be warned also I would like to know if there have been similar problems before mine.

The product, in the report: Samsung 32” HD LED Wifi Flat Screen LCD

We purchase a Samsung 32” HD LED TV from Sears 1/31/2015 and it tipped over on 5/24/2015 and the screen cracked when it fell onto its face! TV didn’t hit the carpet floor just the corner of the wood tv stand. Samsung refused to cover repair costs which total $349. on the purchase of $249 purchase price! I found a report where the tv that had only a 4” wide plastic base without holes to bolt down..same model tipped over for techs investigating the tv for tip overs. This was a in box clearance from Sears/Kmart model 2014. The base was changed by Samsung for the 2015 model to either 4 legs or two feet on each end of the TV! When I messaged Samsung on Facebook and reported the tip over..I was told that the base was changed “For Customer Demand” I’m a customer..and they changed the base because of the easy of tip over. TV didn’t stand in a 90 degree angle..but tilted to the front “face” of the tv screen! Cable wire held the tv from falling to the floor! TV would rattle with a truck hitting a bump outside our home in the street! We would have to drill holes into the plastic to anchor to the stand..and that would have cracked the plastic and void out the warranty (Note I have a facebook friend that purchase the Same Model Same Size Screen of Samsung..and her tv tipped over and broke..in only 2 months..repair was not covered either..yet Samsung stated no complaints to this tv

The TV Tipped over on its face front and the screen cracked! The base was redesigned by Samsung for the 2015 models of the same tv. I reported this to Samsung on Facebook and told they would not cover repair or replacement. When asked why the base was redesigned I was told “For Customers Demand” and that there were No Reports of Tip overs! I have a facebook friend that had the same tv and hers tipped over and fell in only 2 months. We had our TV for only 3 months! We took the tv into repair a Samsung dealer it was denied repair. The cost would be $349 parts and labor! I purchase the TV for $249 at Sears. The base on our tv was only 4” wide front to back and could not support the weight of the tv..and the tv leaned to its front at a 85 degree angle instead of a 90degree. There was no holes in the base to secure and bolt down to the wood tv stand. No option to purchase support and no instructs to secure it. The new model has a different base either four legs on each corner or two larger feet at each corner! Not one TV sold by Kmart had the small base of only 4” wide. I sent my SSI disability check on this cheap tv. That Samsung is taking No Responsibility for. I found online a report from techs that this Samsung tv fell over for the techs when inspected Thanks [REDACTED] [REDACTED] Sent from Windows Mail

The product, in the report: Samsung black tempered glass TV feet pedestal for a 36 inch TV MODEL No. LN32B460B2D SERIAL No. AZ4E3CPS901614B

After owning my Samsung television for about five years, I was surprised when the pedestal (“feet”) that supported it suddenly exploded one day while I was sitting nearby. I was putting on my sneakers with my head down, and when I looked up, my bedroom looked like a war zone, with glass shards everywhere. Luckily, I was not physically injured, but I easily could have been. Mentally, I still have not recovered from the shock.

Some research on this subject reveals that others have reported similar incidents. Apparently, tempered glass sometimes shatters suddenly due to a manufacturing defect. I wanted to replace this product with one made of plastic, but I was informed that the replacement would also be made from tempered glass.

I am writing to inform you that this is a serious risk. I was lucky enough not to be directly in front of the pedestal when it exploded, but another consumer might not be so lucky. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
