The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 13, 2026, sent to the company Jul 16, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 30, 2026

The product, in the report: Fitbit Sense (first generation) advanced health smartwatch, released September 2020. A wrist-worn fitness and health tracking smartwatch with a square AMOLED touchscreen, aluminum housing, and a silicone wristband, worn continuously on the wrist including during sleep. Color: Graphite. The underside of the watch has a stainless steel sensor plate that sits in direct contact with the skin, housing the heart rate, SpO2, and skin temperature sensors. The device contains a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and charges via a proprietary magnetic charging cable. The battery in this device swelled, deformed the sealed back plate, and leaked fluid.

I own a Fitbit Sense (first generation), purchased on November 28th, 2021, and worn daily on my wrist as a fitness and health tracker. I was the only user.

In January 2025, Google notified me that my device was among those identified as at risk of the battery overheating. I confirmed my device was impacted, installed the firmware update, and received the $50 appeasement Google offered to affected owners.

On July 8th, 2026, the heart rate sensor light on the underside of the watch stayed illuminated and would not turn off. I rebooted the device, after which the heart rate sensor stopped functioning entirely and never worked again. The watch had not been dropped, struck, or exposed to water beyond normal use.

On July 13th, 2026, I noticed the metal sensor plate on the back of the watch the surface that sits directly against the skin was raised and no longer flush with the housing. When I pressed it gently it moved back down, then rose again on its own. When I pressed it, a small amount of liquid came out of one corner of the plate. The back of this watch is a sealed, adhesive-bonded assembly and is not designed to move.

Based on these symptoms, the lithium-ion battery appears to have swelled and leaked while the device was being worn on my wrist. I have stopped wearing and charging the device and have stored it on a non-flammable surface. I have photographs of the swollen back plate and the leakage. No injuries occurred. I did not experience any burns, skin irritation, or unusual heat from the device.

I am reporting this because my device was one Google specifically identified as affected by the battery overheating defect, and it received the firmware update intended as the remedy. The battery subsequently swelled and leaked anyway. I believe the corrective action may not be effective at preventing cell failure in affected units.

The product, in the report: Fitbit Ace 3 Activity Tracker for Kids - Black Product Dimensions : 3.35 x 0.8 x 4.13 inches; 0.68 ounces

What happened that made you want to report? While wearing the fitbit it began to be painful and irritated. The fitbit was removed to reveal a burn like skin reaction. What type of product(s) were being used? Fitbit Ace3 Who was using the product(s)? A 7 year old girl How were the product(s) being used? The product was being used in it’s typical design intent manor. The consumer had previously used the product for approximately 8 months without prior issue. Were there any injuries that happened or may have happened while using the product? Yes, the wrist area that comes in contact with the back of the Fitbit was injured. How did any injuries occur? It is unclear what the true root cause of the injury was, however the skin damage is precisely in the shape of the area that the Fitbit was contacting so it appears very obvious to be caused by some interaction between the skin and Fitbit.

I was burned on wrist by Fitbit Inspire 3 in March,2025.. I contacted the Fitbit Customer Service number. What a scam that is. They had me take pics of injuries, and send fitbit back, told me they’d refund my money, but I had to open a [REDACTED] account, which gives them my bank information. Big surprise, no refund after multiple back and forth emails stringing me along. Fitbit is totally fraudulent. Now I’m scarred, out the fitbit, and no refund.

The product, in the report: Wearable fitness watch. CPSC is fully aware of these problematic devices. I was never told there was a recall.

I suffered a burn injury from a FitBit 5. I was wearing the device as a fitness recording monitor. The burn was at least a 2nd degree, if not more. I reported the injury to FitBit in August 2024. They were not helpful at all. Nor, did they inform me that they were aware that their devices were causing injury, or relay to me that they were under investigation by the CPSC which led to a multi-million dollar fine.

My charge 5 Fitbit burned my wrist. I took it off one morning to take a shower and no, there was redness where my Fitbit had been. After showering, I dried my arm put the Fitbit back on again and the next morning I noticed that I had blisters and scarring redness underneath there I used it every day as my Fitbit tracker. I was wearing it at this point in time. It looks like it may be starting to heal over, but its very scaly. The only thing I can think of is that the watch mustve overheated. I want to report this because after I had [REDACTED] what happened January I noticed that the Fitbits were being recalled and I thought oh my goodness Im not the only person.

  11. No one hurt

Made Jan 26, 2025, sent to the company Jan 29, 2025, published by CPSC Feb 12, 2025

The product, in the report: Fitbit Versa 4 by Google ,Copper Rose Aluminum case & Pink Sand infinity band. included small and large bands. Contains nickel

Wearing my Fitbit Versa 4 often I would feel burning. My husband gave it to me last Christmas and I’ve hardly worn it. I thought it was just a me thing until I saw many others experiencing the same thing. It has been a disappointment, so after a short while I just stopped wearing it. I can’t see how people let it get to serious burns. I’m plenty old enough to know that something is not working right.

UPDATED ON 2/20/2025: [I’m posting a complaint against the Google FitBit Versa 4 Watch that was a gift to me as stated in my complaint. I’ve answered so many questions as best I can. After reading the response from Google on https://www.saferproducts.gov/PublicSearch/Result, it has upset me to the point that I don’t want to deal with it anymore. I’ve read their statement about cleaning and taking it off if wet and so on. I’m not a stupid woman. Even though they say you can wear it in the shower my intelligence tells me that water and electronics do NOT mix. As far as having lotion or sweat or whatever else they can come up with is a reason for the band to cause irritation. Again, that is common sense, or should be. My problem came from the back of the watch, not the band. Not just once but more often than I was comfortable with. My daughter , who is an adult, has one of google’s older models and she recently told me that she feels a stinging sensation also. Had I read all the warnings about safety on their website before wanting a fitbit, I promise you that I Never would have asked my husband for one that Christmas. Google should be ashamed of themselves. One more truth I’d like to add, I answer to a much higher power , Jesus Christ. ]

I have been wearing a Fitbit smartwatch device for 6-7 years and recently noticed numbness on the top of my wrist where the lights flash and touch my skin on the underside of the device. When I noticed the numbness, I immediately stopped wearing my device. It has been about a week and feeling has not returned to the approx 2”x2” spot on top of my wrist. It is not tingling or painful, just numb.

I was pouring the solvent Toluene from one container into another container and when I tilted the container I was pouring from up to get the last of it out the vapors suddenly ignited causing a fireball to shoot out from the container I was filling. I was wearing a Fitbit Charge 5 that I believe initiated the explosion and fire. The Fitbit was right over the mouth of the container as I was pouring the Toluene. As I rotated my left arm with the container it caused the Fitbit to activate and instantly the fumes around my left hand ignited causing severe burns on my hand, arm and face as the fireball expanded. I don’t know if anyone else has experienced this but i was unaware of any warning about using a Fitbit product around hazardous materials and could find no warnings in the consumer manuals.

Today, I was burned by my smart watch! Since 2017, I have been wearing a fitbit watch. I purchased my newest model this July 2022. I typically wear my fitbit all the time- it is a watch, and it is useful and also quite stylish. Today I noticed all of a sudden that my wrist began to hurt. Upon further inspection, I noticeed that there was a large red mark under the fitbit sensor on my skin. To me, it seemed like my skin had burned. After an hour, the burned area is still bright red and painful. The burn is even in the shape of the sensor, so I have no doubt that it came from the sensor itself. This is not a rash or skin irritation, but a burn on my skin. After years of wearing a fitbit, this has never happened to me before.

The product, in the report: Fitbit Ionic fitness band

    Dear Fitbit:

I am very disappointed in how you are managing the Fitbit Ionic recall. Every step of the way seems designed to prevent the majority of impacted consumers from being remedied.

Yes, I purchased an Ionic and yes I loved it until I noticed some strange corrosion on the back. I scraped it off as best I could but it still came back. It did not burn my skin or leave any marks but it eventually corroded the prongs and stopped accepting a charge. I spent weeks searching for answers on the internet and calling your help-line but found no help or explanation. You see, I’m diabetic and I depended on the Ionic (via Dexcom) to give me constant read-out of my blood sugars. It worked great until it didn’t.

After trying to find a remedy, I eventually gave up and looked to buy a replacement Ionic (I liked it that much) only to find that the Ionic had been discontinued. Even so, I took a chance and bought the Versa 3 model which works fine.

Imagine how surprised and happy I was to receive the recall notice only to discover that you have made it almost impossible to receive compensation. After I purchased the new Versa 3, I had no reason to hold on to the Ionic and I disposed of it due to the corrosion and because it no longer worked.

However, you have made the remedy conditional on receiving the Ionic in return. Who in their right mind is going to keep a non-working corroded smartwatch that could be a fire hazard in their house?

In addition, your so called exclusive discounts are for CPSC show only. Your prices are no better than what was available to the public during the holidays and the selections are even more limited. Your free watch-band looks like a leftover from Halloween!

But all in all, thank goodness I still used the same email address and/or didn’t automatically send the notification to spam or I might have been unaware and missed out on a 56 in a million chance of receiving compensation.

Come on! You guys are better than that! Do right by your loyal customers. Don’t make doing the right thing so hard just to save yourselves a few bucks.

Consumer Product Safety Commission https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2022/Fitbit-Recalls-lonic-Smartwatches-Due%20to-BurnHazard- One-Million-Sold-in-the-U-S

The product, in the report: Fitbit Versa 2 Health Monitoring “watch”, Charcoal/Slate Gray

Received Fitbit Versa 2 for Christmas 2021, been wearing it since 12/28/21. Red irritation and “burns”, skin peeling on left AND right wrist. Took steps to clean the wrist band multiple times, noticed a white chalky substance on the back (salt?), cleaned Fitbit with Hydrogen Peroxide, Alcohol and water. Chalky substance continues to come back. Redness on wrist even after one night, remove Fitbit (which defeats the purpose of owning a Fitbit for Health Monitoring) and try to let the wrist air out. Redness and irritation would take days to clear, tried Fitbit again after “some” healing, problem with Fitbit causing skin loss, redness, burning just gets worse. I wore a watch for decades with no problems. Why now an issue with a Fitbit?

My Fitbit Inspire 2 overheated while I was wearing it indoors in my air conditioned home. I noticed my wrist becoming red and irritated. I was unsure what would be causing it as I’ve had my watch for nearly a year. Then, I noticed my watch screen appeared as though there was moisture inside it and it was no longer functional (the screen wouldn’t turn on). Once I took off the watch I noticed that the watch itself was very hot to touch. No long-term injuries occurred that required medical attention, but my skin has continued to have a burning sensation since the incident at 1:45pm Pacific time. My skin was red for about 30-60 minutes after the incident. It seems the battery overheated or somehow battery fluid was released into the watch internally.

Had an [REDACTED] that worked fine and then there was a recall so I sent it in and ordered two Sense Fitbits and accessories. The new Sense fitbit is causing a rash where the watch sits on the wrist. I was wearing it on my left wrist and noticed I was itching so I loosened the band and then it slid to the side of my wrist a bit and a large red rash developed exactly where the watch rests on my wrist. I thought it was a fluke or maybe from something else so I moved the watch to my right wrist and the same thing is happening. I now have a smaller rash on my right wrist.

My Fitbit Versa 3 burned my hand/wrist. The Versa 3 can be used to track sleep patterns, and I was wearing it to bed. The burn occurred while I was sleeping. I woke up in the morning and my skin hurt, I removed the watch and I had a red burnt area. The affected area coincided with the back of the watch face, where the light diodes flash. The picture I will attach I took about 4 days later when my skin started peeling off.

    Hi,

I own a Fitbit Ionic watch. I used and operated it frequently. One night I charged my watch as I was sleeping. I do this regularly. When I woke up the charging unit contacts melted onto the back of the watch. I’m unclear if this is the same issue as the current Fitbit Ionic recall. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2022/Fitbit-Recalls-Ionic-Smartwatches-Due-to-Burn-Hazard-One-Million-Sold-in-the-U-S

I did not find much information online. This seems distinct from the watch battery overheating while someone is wearing the watch. I learned of the recall after I sent to product into Fitbit for a replacement.

The product, in the report: Fitbit sense in black. Square head with a band I thought was silicone. Idk if latex. I never took pictures of the worst of it and just put [REDACTED] on before I knew to take pics. So the worst is almost healed while the other marks are two days old at the most

For Christmas I received a Fitbit sense. Ecstatically I put it on. A few days later I’m scratching my wrist under my band as it doesn’t feel good plus I need to charge my watch. I take it off to discover the band and charging port looked like burned impressions in my skin and are peeling like a burn. Idk what I’ve done so I clean the whole watch with alcohol. Charge it and put on my opposite wrist as the other needs to heal. I then take off the watch daily till I forgot and left for two days. I took off the watch and same issue. I’ve ordered a different band but that doesn’t explain why the charging port is burned into my skin. I’m putting [REDACTED] on my burn marks but keep in mind I’ve only had this watch since Christmas so about 4 -5 weeks. I have a rare blood cancer and can not keep incurring these types of injuries that leave me open to more infections than my immunotherapy does

The product, in the report: Fitbit metal mesh watch band for Fitbit Luxe, color gold, magnetic clasp closure.

I bought a Fitbit Luxe, and opted for the mesh band. The magnet is really strong and attaches to anything metal. Item sticks to pots, pans, sewing needles/pins, and most recently a knife handle while making breakfast. This morning g I reached across the counter to pick something up, and a knife attached to the watch band. I took a short video to file a complaint with Fitbit, and they would only take my complaint into “consideration”. No option to return defective item.

I also have pictures on a sewing needle attaching while taking a break from hand sewing. I had no idea it attached until I bent my wrist and was poked. At least it was a small poke. Watch is worn on my non dominant hand, and I believe the product is defective.

I have had fit bit products in the past, and non of the mesh bands had a magnetic closure, and worked perfectly fine. This band is defective.

11/3/2021: The consumer noticed a burning odor and checked her product, which was connected to the charger. She admitted that it was not properly connected to the charger. It may have been charging for less than 5 minutes

The charger had become fused with the watch band. It was so hot that the consumer could not touch it. She grabbed the charger’s cord and it melted to the point that it separated, when she pulled it. This left live wires exposed. She was able to remove the product from the wall outlet without injury.

She contacted the manufacturer and they requested the product back. She sent it back.

She hadn’t heard anything for the past 2 weeks so she followed up with the firm. She was told this was a 1 time incident and they have not had other issues with the watches.

The consumer claims that one of their reps. (name unknown) told her that they have had other reports of this nature, with this product.

The consumer asked to speak with a Quality Control person, but she was not allowed to.

The product, in the report: FitBit Alta HR activity tracker, Black, size Large

I purchased my FitBit Alta HR on January 5, 2018, from Amazon.com . After purchase, I wore it day and night, continuously. I have purchased several apps that interface with the FitBit specifically. However, just now, from May 2020 until today, the device has started burning my wrists. Because of this, I have been taking the device off at night, and switching wrists regularly. However, the burns continue to be a problem, and they take some time to heal. I have not gone to a doctor, because the burns do eventually heal with at-home care. The problem is not with the wrist band, I have cleaned the band, and replaced the band several times in case that was the issue, and it does not seem to be. One of the contacts on the charging dongle, and one on the FitBit-side charging port seem to be corroded, and I believe this may be the trouble. I understand that I am out of warranty. I attempted to contact FitBit support with the email they provided to other reports on this site, but they have disabled their email customer support.

Four months ago I purchased a fitbit directly from the manufacturing company as my cardiologist recommended for heart rate monitoring. I wore the fitbit HR daily and only removed it while taking a shower or when my hand was submerged in water. After three months of wearing the device I began feeling numbness and tingling sensations in my left arm. It began in my wrist then traveled up to my shoulders. Last monthly the sensation developed into full, excruciating pain that prevented my from doing daily activities with my left hand. After seeing my doctor, he prescribed meds, x-ray, PT and a shoulder mobility to ease the pain and discomfort. Recently, I visited a fitbit chat room on their website and followed the conversation among several using have the same concerns due to the ultraviolet light that monitors pulse and reads other vital signs. This product should be investigated further for doing nerve damage that consumers are unaware.

I bought a replacement Fitbit inspire HR for one my company insurance gave me with a weight loss program but lost. The new one was wear on the wrist. My wrist was sore for short times for two days. The third day when I removed the Fitbit to shower, I saw a mark in my wrist appearing like a bruise. I wore the Fitbit to bed that night as I track my sleep. I woke up in at 3:30 am with my arm hurting, feeling hot. In the morning there was a bright red patch about one inch in length and half inch in width. The edges were raised. The skin felt leathery and there were creases that were darker red than the rest of the skin. I sent a picture to my doctor, who said it is most likely contact dermatitis and recommended [REDACTED] and to wash the device. I called Fitbit support. The first line support person said as this was a serious problem she was escalating to a group who could handle it and they would contact me. I got an email offering me a refund if I shipped back the Fitbit I have.

6/16/2020: The consumer called the firm and explained the incident to a rep. (name unknown). The rep. said that they could offer a refund. The consumer did not decline or accept the offer.

6/17/2020: The consumer called the dealer and their rep. (name unknown) told her that they would send her a return label to ship the product back and give her a refund for the amount that she paid. The consumer asked about injury compensation, but was told that their firm does not deal with compensation and referred her back to the mfr.

6/17/2020: The consumer contacted the manufacturer again and asked about injury compensation. She was told that the matter would be referred to a different department and someone would follow up with her.

The consumer has not seen her doctor, but may call and visit them if needed.

The following numbers (238833 D0D0C1) were listed on the product.

The consumer said she does not know if the band has latex in it, because she is allergic to latex.

The consumer had a different tracker, which was made by this same firm and she used it without injury since sometime in 2019, until she recently purchased this one.

The product, in the report: FitBit HR fitness tracker. The original rubber band specifically is the concern. Model Inspire HR

I bought a FitBit Inspire HR about a month ago, and now have a horrible rash on my wrist. I have been taking it off regularly for showers and cleaning to prevent rashes from trapped bacteria.

I have a history of breaking out from cheap metal and dyed products from China, so I know how contact dermatitis looks and feels when caused by unregulated products. In contrast to this product, I also wear a ring that I have not once taken off this month (through sweaty workouts, showers, etc) and I have never developed a rash from that.

I’m not buying FitBit’s narrative that all these blistering, itchy rashes are being caused by users not washing correctly. I’m sure it’s unregulated chemicals/dyes in the rubber band itself based on past experiences and rash placement.

I just want an actual investigation done so that FitBit can be held responsible and make actual changes so the consumers can quit being scammed out of their money and scarred by this blistering rash.

I received the product as a gift - and what a terrible gift to receive. After three weeks of use, I now have a burn the size of the back of the Fitbit on my wrist, which is now starting to peel and looks like it might leave a scar. The Fitbit remained clean, I did not sweat, and there are way TOO MANY reports on these products for Fitbit to continue to make excuses for a proven and consistent design flaw. A simple [REDACTED] search demonstrates that this burn / rash reaction quite clearly has been caused by several of various Fitbit models and injured way too many people. I am so disappointed with this company. It is absolutely beyond my comprehension how / why Fitbit is allowed to continue to market a product that has harmed countless end users. Shame on you, Fitbit.

The muscles surrounding the burn mark feel bruised and sore, even after a full week. I bought the fitbit on Sunday and it burned me on Tuesday of last week. After checking other complaints online, I found that it was better to put it on the inside of my wrist, so I did. I had put a small piece of tape over the battery port, which worked fine, but yesterday I charged it, and forgot to put tape on it. This morning, while working at the computer, my wrist was pressing against a keyboard pad, and I felt a jolt. I took the fitbit off and found a small welt where the battery port was. It didn’t burn in that spot, but the muscles around the welt are extremely sore.

Unless the power contacts of the Fitbit Alta HR stay bone-dry, they cause a lasting chemical burn. Sweat or water, or even very humid air, provoke a burn within an hour or two, and the burn lasts several weeks. The company has not recalled the products or offered any kind of fix (such as a removable cover for the power port)--or even a refund, which any decent company would have done long ago. Reps insist it’s a rash caused by wearing the unit too long or too tight, which is incorrect, and they become unresponsive after offering their pointless suggestions to switch wrists every once in a while.

The “incident date” I provided is only the most recent. I exhaustively researched and tried to engineer my own fixes last year when I first got the Fitbit, but I accidentally wore it out in the rain without its improvised scotch-tape cover a few weeks ago and got burned.

Fitbit’s official response is: “Fitbit is aware that skin irritation affects a very limited number of consumers who use wearable devices all day and all night from sweat, water, or soap being held against the skin under the device, or from pressure or friction against the skin.” This is a lie, and they’ve known it for well over a year, which is when I started complaining and also researching (and finding many, many of the exact same complaints).

Fitbit Charge 2, with band worn loosely as per product instructions. Back of tracker and band cleaned about every 2 days. A couple of months ago I began developing an itchy, red rash with a couple of tiny blisters on top of my wrist that occurred on waking up from sleep. It appeared directly behind the face/ body of the tracker, which appeared to have been pressed into my wrist during sleep, with an indentation present. Rash appeared to be either burn, or contact dermatitis. (I am also a healthcare professional.) Rash went away with prescription [REDACTED] and not wearing tracker. When tracker was worn again, rash came back under identical conditions every few weeks. Tracker was worn previously for a couple of years without problems. Covering the exposed charging ports on the back of the tracker with scotch tape has completely resolved the problem. These charging ports rest directly against the skin and seem to be the source of the problem. When wearing the band loosely during the day, the tracker moves about and the back does not press into the skin, but sometimes becomes pressed into the skin during sleep even with a very loose band. A search of the manufacturer forums showed many reports of similar rashes, for which the manufacturer recommended frequent cleaning if the tracker. The manufacturer does not appear to take responsibility for a component of the fitbit causing the reaction. . Another fitbit user suggested the charging ports that contact the skin have enough nickel to cause an allergic reaction, and had solved the problem by covering these ports with scotch tape. It appears there is an allergic, chemical or electrical reaction causing some of these rashes.

I received a burn approx 1 1/2” wide and 1/2” thick from my fitbit charge 2. I had gotten a couple of red spots in the past, but they were small and I wasn’t concerned. However, yesterday I felt a sparkling as if a live wire was being run across my wrist and when I pushed up my sleeve I saw the burn mark. I do have a picture of the burn. They are offering to refund me the full cost of the unit, but this is a safety hazard and I think they should be taking serious measures on this product such as a recall.

The product, in the report: I don’t know

My daughter who is a perfectly healthy 38-year-old female decided to buy a Fitbit to monitor different things in her body. She bought the Fitbit and put it on and the very next night she began to have panic attacks which she’s never had before. She had so many of them that she needed to be hospitalized for eight days. It is week three now and she continues to have a racing heart and her whole life has been turned upside down. She finally realized, after she kept waking up during the night, and feeling very fatigued and just generally ill, that she finally started looking into the Fitbit and found numerous responses from people and how this item is affecting them. It seems more than a coincidence that she has become ill after wearing this for an extended period of time. She finally removed it from her and had a decent nights sleep but she continues to have a racing heart incident at least twice a day. Although it may seem coincidental, she has been completely healthy, and all of her tests on her body organs have come back positive, but the problem now seems to be something in her brain is not firing right. We are fully convinced that this item has done something to her, and I am asking that you look into this because numerous people have put down their experiences which have been very bad ones. Please if you can investigate what this item is doing to people and possibly have it taken off the market. Thank you and I hope this issue can be resolved so other people don’t have to go through this

I bought the Fitbit Versa last November 2018 as part of a black Friday special. I have been wearing the Fitbit everyday with the band(s) that it came with. I do clean the bands periodically with alcohol and I do not wear the watch when I sleep or when I shower. A few months ago I started getting a single hive on my wrist where the watch sits. I’d put hydrocortisone cream on it and it would go away within a few hours. Now I have a rash that has started. I put the watch on my other wrist as well as around my ankle thinking maybe it has something to do with lotions etc that I use. Immediately when I put the watch elsewhere I get an instant itching sensation. once I take it off it immediately subsides.

The product, in the report: Fitbit Versa Fitness Tracker . RoseGold case, with Pink Band that came with the item.

I purchased a Fitbit Versa in May, 2019. Within a week, I began to notice a rash on the inside (pinky side) of my wrist below the band.

Although Versas can be used while swimming, I remove to shower. I follow the care instructions for the band. I put a bandage over the rash area and it cleared up within a few days. When I removed the bandage, the rash returned within a day. I switched arms and the rash appeared in the same location. several days I have removed and discovered a brown film on the inside of the band, and realized it is my SKIN that has blistered and transferred to the watch band,

I now have a scar below the wristband due to multiple rash/blister/healing incidents.

I found a forum detailing the recall for the same reason in 2014, and my symptoms match those. Others had found the site recently with the same issue with subsequent models.

The Fitbit website advises removing and thoroughly cleaning after any” strenuous activity” and to allow it to dry thoroughly. (so much for being wearable to track your activity)

To remove it at night to allow your wrist to breathe (so much for tracking your sleep activity) To go a few days without wearing it (so much for having a Fitbit).

I have owned a much cheaper tracker which did not need to be charged, and wore it constantly for 1 year with no skin irritation. I owned a [REDACTED] watch with a cheap band for literally years only removing periodically and had no irritation.

I have reported this to Fitbit, but so far have only been advised of the same care instructions listed on the website.
