The product, in the report: This was a clear baking pan with no handles. It was approx. 8X10 inches.
I was baking a smaller pork tenderloin. I had marinated the meat and then roasted it in a 350 degree oven. I checked the meat twice during roasting. I checked the meat the second time after nearly 30 minutes of cooking. Shortly thereafter, my husband and I heard a very loud noise. We looked in the over and realized that the glass baking pan shattered in the oven. Glass was everywhere inside of the oven. It was difficult to clean up. Once we felt that we had all of the glass, I cleaned the oven using the oven’s cycle. Once the oven was cool I wiped down the inside of the oven and still found small glass shards. The pieces are so small that I just threw away the since I didn’t want the class to get into anything we might eat.
I used a glass Anchor Hocking baking dish - about 8 x 10 inches. I wasn’t concerned about using this dish because I had used it before and I knew that at 350 degrees, I was below the company’s guideline for temperature.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking clear glass baking dish 9x11
I was baking with my glass Anchor Hocking brand dish. I was baking potatoes in the dish at 350, took them out after they were done and set the dish on top of the stove as it was warmed from the oven temperature. It wasn’t like it was a cool surface, the oven had been on for over an hour and the stove top and trivet had heated up. I have always done this. Thank goodness I took a couple of steps back to pick something up because there was the loudest noise as my dish exploded into shards of flying glass. It flew across the counter tops both ways and onto the floor. I am so lucky I had walked about five feet away or I could have had glass embedded in my face and upper body. I did have some smaller slivers cut me as I was cleaning surfaces, don’t know yet if I was able to get them all off of the floor as its [REDACTED] and will be tricky. This is so scary, as my kids often help get dinner started while I am on my way home from work. Now I am afraid to use glass baking products not only for myself but for my children.

The product, in the report: Large Glass baking Dish Item #: 81938OBL11
I bought an Anchor Hocking 7-Piece Bakeware Set from Walmart a while back. Last night, I baked a deep dish pizza in the large glass oven dish. When I took it out of the oven and placed it on a wooden cutting board, the glass exploded, sending scalding hot shards of glass in all directions. This is a very dangerous product in my opinion

The product, in the report: Glass baking dish. Reproduction of 1930? [REDACTED] or [REDACTED]. Glass lid exploded.
I placed hot rice into a glass baking dish, put a serving spoon into it, and placed the glass top on the dish to keep the rice warm while the family had salad. The dish was placed on a counter top behind the table. The lid of the dish exploded sending glass pieces into the backs of the people on that side of the table and showering over their heads and between them onto the table top. Only the top broke. The bottom of the bowl was fine. Most of the glass was found in little bead like forms, but numerous tiny shards were found in the table cloth, rug, and clothing of the people sitting close to the dish. Had I placed the dish on the table, the explosive action would have been toward the faces of the family and could have been disastrous. I never thought this would happen! Feels really unsafe to me. We were lucky.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking 8x8 baking pan
I baked granola bars in a Anchor Hocking 8x8 baking pan for 20 minutes at 350. I preheated the oven and used a timer to stay at 20 minutes. When I removed the pan from the oven I placed it on a heat pot holder. About ten minutes later the pan exploded shattering glass over a ten foot area. I was not in the kitchen when it exploded so no one was injured but would have been if close to the pan when it exploded.

The product, in the report: 2 Qt Anchor Hocking Glass Bake Ware
I placed breaded pork chops in an Anchor Hocking 2 quart glass baking dish.(Purchased as a 2 Piece Value Pack of 2qt & 3qt clear glass bake ware.) I placed the baking dish in my cold oven, and started the oven to preheat at 350 degrees. The oven reached 350 and was baking for about 10 minutes when I heard a loud popping noise. I put my oven light on and thought my 3year old oven glass door exploded. I then realized it was the baking dish with my pork chops in shattered glass laying on the oven floor. There were, what seemed like thousands of pieces of glass, all over the oven. I’m thankful the pork chops weren’t baking too long, because if there was any grease splattered it may have caused a fire.
I have been baking with the same [REDACTED] oven ware for over 40 years and have never experienced anything like this before. My Anchor Hocking Ware is less than 5 years old and used maybe 4 times.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking glass bake ware 8”x8” with a bright green silicone-type lid with a clear plastic window.
I filled my 8”x8” Anchor Hocking glass bake ware with a noodle pudding and placed it into a pre-heated 350 degree oven and baked it for 1 hour. During that time, the oven door was not opened nor was the light turned on. When the timer went off, I went to the oven. But before I could open the door, I heard a loud cracking noise and what sounded like rain in the oven. When I opened the door, I found the bake ware had exploded and was broken all over the oven. Some large pieces were left on the wire rack, but about half of it was on the bottom of the oven. It was only the 4th time I had used this dish. No injuries occurred because of this incident.

The product, in the report: [ANCHOR HOCKING] bakeware
Caller stated that On Sunday Nov. 4th, she had a [ANCHOR HOCKING] oblong glass dish full of apple dumplings with syrup exploded in the oven. They were nearly done when they exploded which sounded like a gunshot at point blank range and rocked the stove. Luckily the oven glass was stronger than the [ANCHOR HOCKING] or she would have been injured. She have pictures of the shattered glass and kept most pieces. It caused a lot of smoke damage from the burning syrup. She didn’t know beforehand that there had been many other reported incidents.
Caller stated that she will no longer be using [ANCHOR HOCKING] glassware but this needs to be more publicized so others are aware. It will take days to wash her walls, cabinets etc. to clean the smoke. She is upset at what it did to the inside of her oven which will never be completely cleaned from the burnt syrup.
The manufacturer was not contacted as yet.

The product, in the report: Glass loafpan (approximately “9x3”)
Caller purchased glass loaf pan which is approximately 9” x 3” .
She was baking bread on September 24th, 2012, had set oven on 330 degrees, was using an old loaf pan. The old pan was [REDACTED]. The new one was made by Anchor Hocking. Bread had been baking for approximately one half hour when the caller heard what sounded as if something had exploded.
She returned to the kitchen, turned the oven light on and then looked inside the oven seeing that the new loaf pan had exploded, sending glass chards all over the oven as well as onto the bread in the old pan that did not explode.
Caller slowly opened the oven door, couldn’t think of what to do and actually is not remembering what she did. She removed the glass pan by sliding what she could onto a cookie sheet, hoping to save the other bread. Not possible. The other loaf was coveered with glass slivers.
She called the manufacturer September 25th, 2012 and was first asked if anyone had been injured and then advised by them to send the glass chards to them. Caller was instructed to check oven by setting the oven on higher temperatures to see whether her oven was functional and operating normally. Caller’s oven was fine. She will be checking it’s function while on self cleaning and then after returning to normal function this weekend. Self-clean is ok. The consumer was instructed to ship the glass chards to manufacturer for testing, which she did. There were no injuries

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking glass bakeware dish 9x13
An Anchor Hocking glass baking dish exploded in my oven.
The incident occurred while baking a whole chicken in a Anchor Hocking baking dish. The dish had been in the oven at 350 degrees baking for approximately 30 minutes on a rack set in the middle of the oven.
I opened the oven door and moved the dish slightly to the side so I could insert a vegetable dish to also bake. I inserted the vegetable dish to the other side of the oven without it hitting or touching the dish containing the chicken. As I closed the oven door the dish containing the chicken suddenly shattered violently sending glass and hot grease flying though out the oven and also into the kitchen. The glass baking dish for the vegetables was fine.
Fortunately, I had just stepped back in order to close the oven door, otherwise, I would have gotten the flying glass and hot grease directly in to my face, eyes, arms and hands. A very close call!!!
Of course the chicken dinner and vegetable dish were discarded. In cleaning up the mess, both my husband and I got minor cuts from all the glass pieces. Fortunately nothing serious.
There was no warning that the dish was going to explode. The incident could have caused serious injury to me if I had not just stepped back to close the oven door.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking Glass 3 qt baking dish
On Wednesday, July 18th, I was baking pork chops in a Anchor Hocking Glass Baking Dish. I had lined the dish with aluminum foil for easier clean up. My husand removed the dish from the oven and placed in on the cooktop, which was not turned on, to put a meat thermometer in to check the temp. As he stood there waiting for the temp to read, we heard a pop and the glass dish exploded everywhere. It went all over the counter top and all the way across the kitchen floor. It is amazing he was not cut. I have a picture of the broken dish.

The product, in the report: 8x13 glass baking dish
An Anchor Hocking glass baking dish exploded after normal use. An 8x13 glass baking dish that I’d used for approximately 8 years exploded in my kitchen. I took the dish from a room temperature cabinet, added room temperature ingredients, baked for 25 minutes at 350 degrees. I removed the dish from the oven and set on a metal trivet and took two servings. About 10 minutes later, the dish exploded into many small pieces and several larger pieces. The pieces went flying through my kitchen - had a person been in the kitchen at the time, they would have sustained serious injury.

The product, in the report: 9” x 13” glass baking dish
In 2006, I bought a Anchor Hocking 13” x 9” glass baking dish so that I could bake cakes for a bake sale. I bought the dish in Vero Beach, Florida. I used the 13” x 9” approximately two to three times per year since its purchase. I play shuffleboard at the [REDACTED] community where I own a condominium. At the end of winter season, the folks who play shuffleboard have a party. On March 20, 2010, I was baking pineapple upside down cake for the shuffleboard event. I have been making pineapple upside down cakes for approximately 30 years. I had baked one pineapple upside down cake in the oven at 350 degrees for 35 minutes using the glass baking dish described above.
Before using the dish it had been sitting in the storage drawer under the oven. It had not been exposed to cold or to any cold or damp surfaces. When the cake was done, I removed the baking dish from the oven and placed it on a metal cooling rack on the counter to cool. The counter was dry. After about 20 minutes, the cake had cooled and I flipped the cake and placed it on a tinfoil lined cardboard box bottom.
I then placed the baking dish back on the counter for approximately 15 or more minutes. I then washed the baking dish with water and dried it thoroughly. I washed the dish with [REDACTED] or a similar liquid dish soap as I always had washed the dishes. I placed the dish on the stove between the burners and not on the burners as I was about to prepare a second cake. None of the burners were on and they had not been on since 4 hours earlier when I turned one on to heat some water.
I placed melted butter in the baking dish momentarily after placing the dish on top of the stove, not the burners. I then turned to mix cake batter in my kitchen’s sink. The sink is perpendicular to the oven so my right side and back were facing the oven. The dish was on the stove top between the burners for less than ten minutes when I heard a loud boom.
I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles Tendon and blood was pouring from it. I looked over at the glass dish and it had exploded violently and pieces of glass were everywhere. Later I found shards of glass more than 12 feet away from the stove. I later found out my Achilles Tendon had been completely severed.
At no time during my ownership of this baking dish have I used any abrasive chemical to clean it or used sharp objects on it. I have never seen any nicks, scratches, chips, cracks or other imperfections in the glass dish.

I was baking fish at 375-400 F in a Anchor Hocking casserole dish. After ten minutes I removed it from the oven and turned the fillets. Returned the dish to the oven for another ten minutes. With a oven mitten I reached in and began lifting the dish out of the oven. Half way out and the dish exploded. Glass cut my hand and burnt my linoleum floor. Luckily my eight year old son was not standing near by for the glass would have hit him in the face.

I needed an extra dish for the biscuits I was cooking. I used the 9 x 9 Anchor Glass baking dish. I did not use any oils of any kinds for non-sticking, the food did not require it. Placed in a pre-heated oven of 350 F for 16 minutes. I removed the dish, set it on the stovetop (which had not been used yet) and about 45 seconds after I set the dish down it exploded into a million pieces, all over the stovetop, countertops, on my kitchen floor, shards of glass were covering my clothing as well as my kitchen floor, I come to find that there were more pieces in my living room which is a good 15-20 feet from my stove, and there were also shards and chunks of glass in the front room (another 15-20 feet from my stove) and in the hallway 9 feet away.

The product, in the report: 9 x 13 inch glass baking dish
I pre-heated my gas oven to 330 degrees. I prepared bread-pudding. (consists of torn bread mixed with cinnamon, then, 3 cups of milk and 6 eggs mixed together and poured over the bread. Strirred up. Placed into a greased Anchor-Hocking 9 x 13 glass baking dish. I immediately placed the glass baking dish into the entirely pre-heated oven. (The dish was NOT covered.) Within approximately 2 minutes - I heard a big bang. I discovered that the baking dish had exploded into small pieces, leaving a huge and dangerous mess to remove from my oven. We even had to remove the entire heating plate because glass had gotten down into that area as well. I have had the baking dish for approximately 2 years. (Not really sure) It came with a plastic cover - so I can give you the information on the cover: Anchor-Hocking 3 quart baking dish cover. ZLID1049-AH Made in USA.
Fortunately, the oven door was closed when the dish exploded. My husband and myself experienced only small finger cuts while trying to clean up the mess. If the oven door had been open, I believe that there could have been worse injuries. Most of the glass was not “sharp” - but, there were very tiny slivers of glass that were dangerous.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking glass square baking dish
I had just returned home from my sisters house, with a square, glass, Anchor Hocking baking dish in my car that she had just returned to me. When I parked my car in my garage, I reached over to the passenger seat to pick up the glass dish and as I picked it up, it literally exploded in my hand. All I did was pick it up! Glass shot all through my car. I had picked up the dish with my right hand but have small cuts and scratches on my left hand from glass shooting all through my car. I had glass in my hair, stuck to my clothes, down the front of my shirt, in my shoes, it was everywhere. I had my 3 year old niece in the back seat. We are both very lucky that none of it got into our eyes and that none of the larger very sharp, pointy pieces hit us. I have vacuumed my car out several times but am still finding small shards of glass. After researching this issue online, I see that I am definitely not the first person this has happened to and am wondering why there is no recall on this product.

She indicated that she is very thankful that she did not remove the dish from the oven because she could have been seriously injured by the exploding glass.

The product, in the report: square anchor hocking glass bakeware
I was preparing a honey mustard pork tenderloin in an anchor hocking square glass baking dish. It was the first time I had used it. It was clean and dry. I was cooking the dish in a preheated 375 degree oven. after the dish had been in the oven for approximately 20 minutes, I heard a very loud noise. When I looked into the oven, the dish had exploded and various sizes of glass were all over the oven. Needless to say, I am concerned about using the other larger dish that I own. It was a set that came with plastic lids and a carrying case for the 9 x 13 dish. I have other glass cookware and have used them successfully, but this is the first of this kind that I have used. After spending hours cleaning my oven, I think I will stick with the others. I am just thankful that none of my family had opened the oven door to check on dinner at that time!

Yesterday afternoon it was Christmas Eve and I’d just finished baking a fruit tart (on rack in oven at 325* for 40 minutes). I placed the 9” Anchor Hocking glass pie dish pie dish onto a cooling rack on the table to cool. About 15 minutes later as I stepped into another room, my husband who was sitting at the table where the tart was cooling, heard a loud pop sound and saw something fly past him. When he looked on the floor he found a small piece of what looked like glass but couldn’t figure out where it came from. We checked all around but could find nothing that would’ve produced the shard of glass. A short while later I went to move the tart and the whole dish collapsed in my hands (had potholders on!). Turns out it was the glass pie dish that had shattered but we didn’t realized it until I went to pick it up. I then found many more slivers all around the table, chairs, and floor for which I pulled out the vacuum to be sure I got all the glass pieces. I also had to clean all items around the counters and table because of the high potential of slivers having flown in/on anything. Nice Christmas Eve present! But also my beautiful Christmas dinner dessert was completely ruined and went directly into the garbage after all my hard work making it - I also threw out the other (unused) twin glass pie dish because I could now never trust them again. They were so pretty with a nice blue tint and fluted edges - but good only to look at apparently. I don’t know where I bought them but will NEVER buy Anchor Hocking product again!

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking 2L 20in x 20in Bakeware
I set the Anchor Hocking 2L glass baking dish on my kitchen counter. Both the counter and the baking dish were at room temperature. I microwaved a bag of “steam-fresh” vegetables in their plastic ventilated bag, as directed, and then let that bag stay in the microwave for about 45 seconds after the microwaving process had been completed. I took the bag of vegetables out of the microwave and set them down inside the Anchor Hocking glass baking dish, and walked a few steps away to the kitchen sink. Seconds later, there was an explosion that was as loud as if a loud firecracker had exploded. My husband was in the other room and jumped up and ran into the kitchen. I was still standing speechless looking at what had just happened. The glass baking dish had just exploded all over my kitchen--the counters, floor, food that was being prepared, dog’s dishes, the living room carpet, and all over the stovetop. There were large shards and tiny slivers. When I stopped shaking, I realized how very fortunate I had been in not being hit and possibly badly injured by the flying glass. We cleaned it up--a process that took well over an hour. I painstakingly washed the floor and counters and threw out the entire turkey dinner I had been preparing. I am just lucky I did not lose my eyesight, or suffer other major injuries. I have saved the exploded glass in a plastic bag and intend to contact Anchor Hocking, in addition to filing this report. I also let CVS on Del Webb Blvd. here in Las Vegas know about the incident, although I doubt they will pull the product from their shelves.

We recently purchased an Anchor two-quart glass casserole dish with cover. During its first use (cooking a bison and vegetable casserole) the cover exploded into hundreds of shards of glass in the oven. The temperature was set at 350 degrees, and it is a conventional convection oven (wall mounted double ovens). I photographed the oven full of glass and the dish. We saved the pieces of glass. I have concern that the gaskets around the door could have been damaged by the flying glass.

Upon returning home, I preheated the oven to 300 degrees and started to prepare the side dishes. Once the oven beeped to indicate that it was heated, I put the dish of chicken in the oven. After about 20 mins I reached into the oven, grabbed the dish and began to pull it from the oven. As I lifted the dish off of the oven rack, it exploded. I turned my face to avoid injury but I was hit in the chin and mouth with flying glass. My upper lip was cut and my lower lip and chin are burned. I went to urgent care and was given a Rx for antibiotics and burn cream and received a tetanus shot.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking Glass Casserole Dish
I purchased a Anchor Hocking glass casserole dish 1-2 yrs ago and have used it frequently (in the oven) without any problems. I am always careful with any glass product to not expose them to temperature extremes. On Friday, 9/30/11, I used the dish to make lasagna. After cooking in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes, we ate some of the lasagna and I placed the dish on cloth pads to cool for about 1 hour at room temperature. After that, I put the dish with the remaining lasagna in the refrigerator. On Saturday, 10/1/11, my family would dip some parts of the lasagna out of the dish and microwave it in a separate dish. The Anchor Hocking dish was just taken out of the refrigerator and then immediately put back after they took out a piece of lasagna. On Sunday. 10/2/11, about midnight, I was working on a project on my computer when I heard what could best be described as a explosion from the inside of the refrigerator. When I opened the door, pieces of glass ranging from small slivers to 4 inch pieces (many had sharp edges) were in every space of my refrigerator. The only part of the dish not apart was where leftover lasagna was which was about 20% of the dish. Even this part of the dish had crack marks through every inch but they had not “flown” anywhere, unlike the rest of the dish. We spend a couple of hours cleaning, sweeping, and throwing out food due to being scared of small slivers of glass in stuff. We kept the pieces of the bottom that show the Anchor Hocking emblem. Thank goodness I was not leaning down to get something out of the refrigerator when this happened or there could have been serious injuries. I also took pictures of it before I moved any of the pieces. The dish had been in the refrigerator for about 50 hours at the same temperature except for 2-4 times of dipping out a piece of lasagna. There needs to be a recall before somebody’s eyesight or in a worst case scenario, a lacerated carotid artery happens. Thank you for listening.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking 9.5 inch Premium Grip Glass Pie Plate
I reported the first exploding pie plate to Anchor Hocking about three years ago. I was using the pie plate for the first time for Thanksgiving Dinner. After removing the pie from the oven and letting it cool on a wire rack, my sister was moving the pie plate to a table for serving. Before she could set it down, it exploded all over the table. Glass was everywhere, including in the mouths of my curious two 4 month old miniature poodles. Other than worrying about glass in the food, my main concern at that time was to let Anchor Hocking know that there was a problem in the hope that it wouldn’t happen to others. Anchor Hocking kindly forwarded me a replacement pie plate and a set of very nice drinking glasses after that report. At that time I assumed that this explosion was a fluke or manufacturing flaw. I haven’t thought much about it since.
Fast forward to two days ago. I had stored the replacement pie plate that was kindly sent to me by Anchor Hocking in a basket under my kitchen island with other specialty items that I rarely use. I had forgotten that it was there. About two weeks ago, I heard a loud crash in the night and went to investigate in case a picture had fallen off the wall. I couldn’t find anything. The next day, I found my now three year old poodle chewing on a chunk of glass. I couldn’t figure out where it had come from. Very mysterious. Then last night I was cleaning and opened the basket that contained the pie plate. I have photographs to show what happened that are attached to this report. The bottom line is that it had exploded in the basket.
What was so unusual about this is: (1) It’s never been used and (2) It’s been sitting undisturbed in a basket in an air conditioned house for about 2 years. Occasionally I have the windows open but I live near Washington D.C. and the temperature in the house never gets above about 80 degrees. If it’s hotter, I put on the air conditioner. No one else lives in my house so no one was knocking the basket around or scratching the glass. My dogs only weigh about 8 pounds so they aren’t knocking into it either. This was a spontaneous explosion. Very scary!

The product, in the report: Anchor glass baking dish 8x8
On Aug. 17, 2011 I microwaved leftovers in a new Anchor baking dish. I removed the dish from the microwave and placed it on a cork trivet on the table. Within a minute or so, it exploded sending pieces of glass as far as 30 feet down the hallway.
My sister-in-law had a similar problem with an Anchor baking dish which exploded in her oven. She was baking a casserole at 350. Her oven door was damaged.

Glass Cookware - 15”X10” - Anchor Ovenware Baking Dish
A few years ago I had a glass cooking dish EXPLODE in my kitchen. I had just finished removing a turkey from the oven. I placed the glassware between the four burners on the stove and lifted the bird out. The pan contained hot boiling juices so I placed the dish on the divider in the sink. I turned to get something to pour the liquid into when it sounded like a gunshot. The 15”X10” glass baking dish turned into small toothpick shards that covered my entire 10’ X 4’ kitchen. The pieces were extremely sharp and small. Fortunately, all the boiling liquid went down the sink and I had just stepped away so there were no injuries. I remember thinking how lucky I was that this did not occur as I was lifting the turkey out of the oven!
I mishandled the glassware - placing a heated bowl onto a cool sink can cause rapid cooling - BUT the glass exploded like no other glass I have ever seen. I bought the glassware after watching my mother cook with similar pans she bought in the 60’s and she never had an issue ... in fact I use her glassware to cook with now.
I read Consumer Reports about the glass bakeware problem and I wanted to share my experience.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking 13 X 9 glass baking dish
I was baking chicken in my anchor hocking 13 X 9 glass baking dish at 350 degrees, about 20 minutes into cooking the chicken I heard a sound like marbles hitting a sheet of glass. I looked in the oven and the dish had exploded into many pieces. I turned the oven off and let it cool down completely before cleaning up the mess. Luckily it happened inside the oven and did not break the glass oven door. No one was hurt, but I have a 7 year old daughter that loves baked chicken - it could have been a lot worse. I had the dish for about 5 years.

The product, in the report: This is a large, clear, transparent, 5-quart glass baking dish, measuring about 9” x 13”, which can be used in an oven or microwave oven, Anchor Hocking is manufacturer
A few days ago, while I was removing my Anchor Hocking 5-quart glass baking dish from the cabinet where it was stored, the dish suddenly shattered in my hand, spreading large and small pieces of glass all over my kitchen floor, the cabinet where I had stored the dish, and other dishes in the cabinet. A couple of small shards cut my bare foot and fingers. I backed away from the debris field carefully to prevent more injury, put on shoes, and then photographed the damage before sweeping up the floor, emptying the cabinet, and cleaning out the rest of the cabinet dishes and stuff. I am attaching a couple of the photos for you to look at.
I threw the glass pieces into the garbage and then contacted the manufacturer on their website. When I received a reply from the company requesting I send them the broken glass I collected the broken glass from the garbage and placed it for safe keeping in a plastic bag in a box. I still have the box with the broken pieces of glass.

I had an Anchor Hocking 9 x 13 baking dish explode. I made 2 casseroles at the same time and each one went through the same process. The older dish was fine and the newer one exploded. This happened just minutes before my daughter’s wedding. I was planning on serving the casseroles for a brunch after the service. Thankfully, nobody was injured.

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking [REDACTED]-style glass bake pan, about 9 X 14, believe about 7 or 8 hears old. Please note that the injury described previously was very minor, a pin-prick while wiping up glass shards.
On Monday, July 14th, I was baking 3 fish fillets. The fish is Swai, so they are larger, about half a pound per fillet. I baked them with a light coating of olive oil and a squeeze of lemon juice. After they had been baking about 15 minutes, 10 minutes at 400, about 5 more at 450, I opened the oven to remove the fish.
When I started to lift the pan, moisture ran off the fish, and the bakeware shattered, though “exploded” is not an unreasonable description. Shards of glass were scattered throughout the oven with some on the floor around it. Fortunately, as oven door was only half open, no one was hit by the glass, and we were able eventually to remove sweep up all the tiny shards with only 1 or 2 minor pricks on fingers from tiny glass shards.
The date was 9th, 10th, or 11th. Not sure right now.

The product, in the report: Anchor-Hocking 8 oz measuring cup
Consumer stated his 8 oz cup glass measuring cup was on a kitchen counter in their cabin and shattered by itself. The consumer and his wife were asleep at the time. The consumer’s wife stepped on a piece of glass, that was an inch in diameter, while walking into the kitchen. She was not injured. The consumer’s wife looked around the kitchen and found shattered glass all around the kitchen.
The consumer talked to his neighbor who heard a loud crash at 5AM this morning. The consumer went online that there are numerous reports of this occurring and shattering with force. The consumer stated and found that the cup was hit by a 4-pack of AA batteries earlier in the day, with no apparent damage. The consumer stated that there is no warning of danger if the product is dinged (on the product). The consumer has yet to call the manufacturer or the retailer about the issue. The product did not damage the consumer’s cabin.

The product, in the report: Anchor brand 9x13 glass baking dish
Back in 2004, my husband and I were about to bake some chicken. Our Anchor brand 9x13 glass baking dish was sitting on top of the stove (at the time, I had NO idea that my husband had just recently turned the burner off...this was an old coil burner stove and the coil was black...but apparently still somewhat hot). The exact moment that I put a cold chicken breast into the pan, the pan sounded like it exploded. Glass shattered into small pieces and went flying everywhere. Luckily I turned my head around quickly, or I would have had glass all over my face!

The product, in the report: Anchor Hocking Company bake ware
On Sunday, June 5th, 2011, I used Anchor Hocking glass baking dish in my oven to bake some potatoes. The potatoes were partially done and I needed the oven for another item. I then moved the bake ware containing the potatoes to the stove top. At this time, none of the burners on the stove were in operation. I placed another item in the oven and returned about an hour later to move the bake ware containing the potatoes. The bake ware was warm to the touch and I used a dish towel to move. When I pick up the bake ware, I did not have a place to put it, so I attempted to temporarily rest the bake ware on a wet dishwashing towel. As soon as the bake ware came into contact with the wet dish towel, the bake ware exploded. Note that this was not a shattering, but an explosion! The explosion damaged my countertop and kitchen floor.
The bake ware gives a warning about “stovetop” use. I did not use this bake ware on the stop top, but rested the bake ware for about an hour on the stop top that was not in use.
