The product, in the report: Whirlpool range/oven black Model# RS610PXGW8 Serial # XP3103528
I have a Whirlpool Oven. It is model # RS610PXGW8 Serial # XP3103528. The oven does not turn off. The bottom heating element comes on and never turns off during any cycle of the oven. I had to turn the breakers off to the oven in order to turn it off. When I turn the breakers back on the oven turns on by itself and does not turn off even though no buttons were pushed.
I spoke to my next door neighbor who had the esame model and they had the exact same thing happen to them and it nearly burned their house down. The wall behind their oven was charred. Our homes were built at the same time and are only 6 years old.

The product, in the report: Whirlpool stove mod# RF364PXKV, Serial # RM0511345
I have a Whirlpool stove, Mod #RF364PXKV, Serial # RM0511345. Today the stove was very hot and I thought someone left it on. I pressed the off button. I went back to the stove a couple of hours later and it was burning hot.....even though it was off! I could not get the oven to shut down even though it appears off. My husband had to uplug it. No matter how many times I press the off button, the oven will not stop heating up. I have 4 children and now have no safe stove to cook meals in. Really upset and scared.

The product, in the report: 24” Built-in Oven
On February 17, 2012, my wife was baking a cake in a Whirlpool 24” Built-in Oven, Model Number: RBS245PDB10, Serial Number: XK5101063, Purchased at Sears in Auburn, Massachusetts on January 23, 2001. About 30 minutes into the cooking cycle, my wife, who was in the kitchen, heard the oven click and lock the door into the auto clean cycle, without my wife touching anything. The temperature in the oven kept rising and the cake caught fire. The fire department pulled the oven fuse and forced the oven door open to remove the smoking cake pan. There was no physical damage to my home other than the odor of smoke for a few days. I removed and discarded the old oven and replaced it with a new [REDACTED] builtin unit.

On July 5th, 2011 at 20: 13 the Black River Falls Fire Department was paged by the Jackson County Emergency Dispatch Center (EDC) for a house fire at [REDACTED] which is located in the City of Black River Falls and County of Jackson. At the time of the page out the caller, a neighbor was reporting that flames were coming from the structure. Upon arrival the department found light smoke coming from the two story wood frame structure but no flames could be seen at the time. The department was able to confirm with the home owner, [REDACTED], who arrived at the address that no one else was in the structure. There is an estimated $12,000 in damage to the structure which is insured. The department made an offensive attack on the fire which was contained to the kitchen area. The rest of the structure does have smoke and heat damage. There were two cats in the home at the time and both were located by firefighters in the basement area of the structure. They both appeared to be scared but okay and were returned to the owner. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Sixteen firefighters were on the scene for two hours. The product, in the report: Black, 30 inch built in wall oven
I had some slices of bread cooking in the oven which had been previously preheated to 425. The timer was set for 5 minutes. After a few minutes, the oven beeped but it was a different sound that the timer going off. I looked at it and thought the display looked funny so I went over to the oven and on the display, the left side which normally has the oven temperature displayed said LOC and I don’t recall what was on the other side which normally shows the time, but under where the time would be were the words “locked”. I pulled on the door and it would not open. I pressed on the “Off” button to hopefully turn the oven off. I went to look for my owners manual. When I returned to the kitchen a minute or 2 later, the broiler was on and the bread was black & smoking. Fearfully that it would catch fire, I pulled on the oven door as hard as I could until I forced it open. I removed the bread & pan to the sink. I tried to use the buttons to see if it would turn off now with no success. I then went to the breaker box and cut the power to the oven that way.
