The product, in the report: LG gas range. Model LRG4111ST/00 Product Code FG4733LS. Serial #612KMTL00385. Manufactured 12/2016
My elderly mother bought an LG Gas Range for her home. It was bought new October of 2017. Since the day of installation the gas has been turned on inadvertantly by brushing against the knobs numerous times. Sometimes the burners will lite, other times just expel the gas. Very dangerous situation.

The product, in the report: Gas Range
The gas valves on our range are extremely unsafe. The way they are positioned and the way they operate causes them to open if bumped. This has happened many times. This morning, after being outside for a time, I returned to find the entire house filled with gas. I had to open the doors to ventilate. Apparently the last person leaving the house bumped the stove on the way out, causing the burner to turn on without igniting.
I have reported this to the manufacturer and seller they said they will not do anything about it.

The product, in the report: LG slide in range: Model: LSG4513BD Serial: 705KMJQOR260
We have a new LG slide in range: model:LSG4513BD serial:705KMJQOR260
The safety problem we have with this range is that it is very easy to accidentally turn on a burner control knob by accident. Since the knobs are at the front of the stove, you can easily walk by, bump a knob with your hip, turn it past the “lite” position to where the gas flows but the flame does not ignite. This has happened to us several times in the short time we have had the stove. The only way we realized that the burner was on was when we smelled gas in the room. I believe that this is a very serious safety issue.
Other gas stoves that we have had require much more pressure to push in the knob before you can turn it so it is very unlikely that you would turn a knob by accident.
LG support suggests that we buy (ugly, clunky) child safety knobs to go over the original knobs.

The product, in the report: LG Gas Range, model # LDG4315ST
we have a LG gas range, model #LDG4315ST, the knobs do not have a safety mechanism to prevent the gas from being turned on when you brush up against the stove. This has happened several times over the past 10 months and is a safety hazard. It has been reported to LG but they have done nothing to correct it. There are several complaints online referencing the same problem.

The product, in the report: LG 6.3 cu ft freestanding gas range
In August 2017 I purchased a new LG 30” freestanding gas range (LRG4113st). During the short time since I bought it, twice I noted the gas on with no known reason. I initially blamed myself. However -- and more frightening -- I have twice since accidentally turned on the front right burner as I walked by. The second time, the wrapping on a gift nearby caught fire, and although I quickly extinguished it, these two accidental lighting episodes leave me scared spitless that either I or someone else will have a far greater accident. Clothing easily catches on the oversized and angular knobs. It requires almost no pressure to push the knobs in and turn them. Playing with the knobs to see what was going on, it is clear that it is exceedingly easy to turn on all four burner knobs with an easy swipe of fingers -- no distinct push and turn is required. The fact that the knobs are squared at the corners and are large apparently contributes to clothing catching the knobs easily. That a ‘catch’ can result so easily in a ‘light’ is frightful.

The product, in the report: LG - 6.9 Cu. Ft. Gas Self-Cleaning Freestanding Double Oven Range with ProBake Convection - Stainless Steel Model: LDG4315ST
Gas Stove/Oven knobs on 30” LG Gas Oven/Range was leaking natural gas at night. My wife woke to the smell of natural gas smell and immediately knew it was the stove. The knobs are so sensitive that just brushing against them will engage the natural gas even if the igniter isn’t triggered. This has occurred many time when working or cleaning in the kitchen but had never gone unnoticed until now.
These knobs should be recalled and have some sort of pressure lock where you need to press the knobs in to turn them on, not just turn them. Electric ranges have these and I’m very surprised the gas ones do not.
This is a very unsafe product, especially if you have young children, pets or simply have a lot of traffic through your kitchen. LG customer service has of course tried to state that their produce meets or exceeds all standards, but apparently none of them use their own products at home.

The product, in the report: LG EasyClean 30-in Smooth Surface 5-Element 4.3-cu ft/3-cu ft Self-Cleaning Double Oven Convection Electric Range (Black Stainless Steel)
I recently purchased an electric LG range/cooktop. The knobs on the cooktopare angled and too easy to accidentally turn on simply by leaning into the front of the stove. I have accidentally turned it on over one dozen times for months now. I called the company to report the problem and they advised I purchase child safety guards for the knobs, so they are well aware of the defect. I have read several other reviews that report the same problem.

No one hurt Made Sep 13, 2017, sent to the company Mar 7, 2018, published by CPSC Mar 22, 2018
The product, in the report: 5 burner gas range with double oven
This range has 2 burners on each side and a long grill burner in the center and a double oven (1 small and one large oven, both underneath the range).
It was purchased around 7/1/2017 and picked up from the retailer near the middle of 7/2017. It sat in the consumer’s home till sometime in 8/2017, until it could be installed.
The consumer noticed problems with the range during the 1st week of use. If the knobs were bumped slightly, they could turn on and the consumer would notice gas emitting from the range. The range has an electronic igniter, which clicks before the flame comes on. The consumer said that this is also part of the problem. Someone bumped one of the range’s control knobs and when the consumer returned from work, she noticed gas spewing from it. The consumer turned the range off and allowed the gas to dissipate.
She called the mfr. and their rep. asked if a professional installed it, to which the consumer said yes. The consumer was asked additional questions, which she felt were unnecessary. The consumer told the rep. that she wanted something done and the rep. agreed to send a technician out to look at the range.
9/13/2017: A technician (name and company unknown) examined the range. He told the consumer that he would call the mfr. and report this to them. The consumer also said that the tech. accidentally bumped the range while there and noticed it quickly began to spew gas. The consumer said that he agreed that the range was unsafe as a result of this. The technician told the consumer that the firm will be sending new knobs, but she indicated that he did not believe it would correct the problem.
The consumer noted that it took a month to find a company to change the orifice from gas to propane. The burners turn on at the slightest bump and the consumer is afraid of the potential gas exposure or fire possibilities. The consumer has grandchildren and is concerned that they may bump the range’s knobs accidentally.
The oven’s control has a button that one has to press to turn it on, so it does not present this problem.
The consumer said that this is an upscale range/oven, which cost $2500.00 (after the 40% discount).
The range has been repaired. New burner knobs inside - feels more resistance. The burners have not turned on accidentally since. The consumer is please with the fix. Hope others have same response as she did.

The product, in the report: LG gas range and double oven
The control knobs for the range are extremely easy to engage. Numerous times in just a few short months, the knobs have been bumped, leaving gas to leak in the house for extended periods of time. It is only upon entering the room that you smell the gas, and realize the stove buttons have been Twisted a bit. Two other times, when reaching past the stove into a cupboard, the knobs have been bumped with a hip of an adult, just enough, to engage the igniter, lighting the burner while someone was reaching over the stove.

The product, in the report: LDG4315ST Gas Range
This happens at least every other day. I have an LG model LDG4315ST gas range. The knobs for the burners sit at a 45-degree angle right on the front. When cooking or just working around the stove, it is very easy to bump the knobs with my belly and turn them on. Sometimes they’ll light, and more than once this has been a real hazard. (I lit my bathrobe sleeve on fire once.) Sometimes they’ll turn past the electric starter without lighting. That happened once and I didn’t notice and I left the house for a couple hours. I came home to a house full of gas. I shut off the burner and I opened all the windows and left for a while. I believe that a protective bar should be available so that the knobs are not easily turned on. A VERY real hazard.

The product, in the report: This is an LG double oven gas range.
This gas range has knobs that turn on if barely touched. We have had several incidents. Our painter covered the stove with a tarp and leaned over it to paint the wall; the tarp caught fire. On several occasions we have walked by the stove, barely brushing against the knobs, and the gas turns on - sometimes with and sometimes without the flame. Last week we opened the front door to a wave of gas odor; our dog managed to nudge one of the knobs and the gas leaked for over an hour. I’m lucky because I do not have small children, however, I need to remove the knobs to be safe in my own home. This product is a safety hazard. LG refuses to acknowledge that there is an issue. I should not have to look at a beautiful $1500 range in my kitchen without knobs for fear of my home catching fire or blowing up.

The product, in the report: LG Gas oven Model #: LDG4311
Gas oven knobs turn on when brushed lightly against them to reach microwave. According to complaint sites, there are others with this model oven, LDG4311, to whom this has happened. Last night, I was lucky enough to wake up from the rotten egg smell, my house, flrst and second floor was filled with gas. I was choking, we opened all the windows and turned gas knob to off. I have three children under the age of four. If I did not happen to wake up when I did, we would all be dead right now. I called their corporate headquarters In Huntsville, Alabama, 256-772-8860. They refused to help me or send out a service person unless I paid for a service call. This problem is In the design of the oven, not a malfunction, so much as a poor safety design. It Is way too easy to brush against the knob, I am 5’ 1” tall.

The product, in the report: LG Stainless Steel Freestanding Double Gas Range - LDG4315ST
There is a serious design/safety flaw in the burner knob assembly on the front of the LG Stainless Steel Freestanding Double Gas Range - LDG4315ST. With minimal pressure, the knob can be turned unintentionally. Sometimes the burner ignites, while other times gas flows without igniting. During my first week of use, this happened numerous times, particularly when reaching over the stove top to wipe down rear display. This stove presents a major risk of burn injury or fire. LG must develop a fix and issue a recall to prevent injuries to consumers.
Apparently I am not the first consumer to experience this problem. I purchased the range from ABT in Glenview, Illinois. Several reviews on their web site also note this problem. A check of the LG and Consumer Reports web sites also contain several reports of this problem. I have included excerpts below of the reviews I found on these sites that reported this problem, not including any that were obvious duplicated.
ABT Reviews
The dials for the stove have no safety lock and turn on ALL THE TIME when cleaning it.
My only real complaint is that the knobs do not lock. This makes it a little difficult to clean the stove without turning on a burner.
We are happy with the product, but it has one design problem: it is easy to turn on a burner accidentally by leaning on the front of the stove, something that’s hard to avoid.
Front controls turn on too easily when just reaching over cook top . Gas was on , we didn’t realize until fumes filled the room
The gas knobs that control the stove top burners are very easy to turn on with just a bump or touch. Reaching up to cupboards above the stove can cause the knobs to turn on if they are touched, even slightly, by a hip or belly.
Cons: The burner control knobs are very easy to move; since they are on the front you can bump them and turn it enough for the gas to release. Our cat likes to get up on the counters at night and hit one of the knobs just enough to turn the gas on (but not ignite). We woke up to a kitchen full of gas, a little scary! We started taking the knobs off at night after that for a while, thankfully it hasn’t happened again. But I do bump them and turn them on occasionally while working at stove.
Only concern is that the burner knobs can be “bumped” into the on position.
Plus if you accidentally lean on the knobs they can be turned on.
Lastly, the burner knobs are right at hip level. We had a friend lean against it and turn on the burner by accident.
The angled design of the control knobs are positioned so that reaching up into the microwave can turn on a burner flame and all. I did this the first day fortunately not burned. A cleaning person did the same thing while cleaning the microwave.
LG Reviews
The only downside (needs improvement): burner knobs are not locked so the kids can turn them on easily; LG should work on this for safety reasons.
Consumer Reports Reviews
I have a concern in that the control knobs, even with the detents to hold them in the off position, are easily bumped to the on position when operating the oven controls. I have had 3 occasions where the burner lit as I was leaning over toward the oven controls and I had hardly touched them. And the other day, one had turned on just barely allowing a minute bit of gas to flow without lighting and without me noticing. I walked into the kitchen and smelled it, and noted the knob.
With minimal pressure, the knob can turn and ignite, and sometimes not ignite. This happened numerous times passing by the range and brushing the knobs with my hip. My wife has turned on the front burners when leaning against the knob panel to reach a pan on one of the back burners. Our dog has jumped on the front of the range and turned on the knobs. One instance was when I went out shopping and returned home to a house full of gas! Most recently, we were in another part of the house when we smelled food cooking/burning. When I ran to the kitchen, I heard the igniter clicking and the burner had ignited under a frying pan on the back burner. The UltraHeat burner tends to go out when on the low setting. We must leave the knobs off when not in use.
The problem is that it is too easy to accidentally turn on top burners. We take the knobs off the range controls to avoid problems.

The product, in the report: LG MODEL LSG4513ST GAS STOVE
LG GAS stove/oven. You push in the front mounted knobs on the gas stove and it ignites the burners. You bump the knob and the burners ignite. The knobs are at an adult waist height and a child can push them. I have almost caught my clothes on fire while stirring something on the stove and ignite another burner. There are pictures and numerous complaints on the internet. People are removing the knobs when small children are around. Because LG Refuses to correct this issue. It is extremely dangerous. A small child is going to be severely burned and adults as well This oven needs to be recalled.

The product, in the report: LG Gas Range
There have been several incidents of our recently acquired LG stove being accidentally turned on and releasing gas. In each case, a burner was turned on via inadvertently brushing up against the control knobs. In some cases we observed this as it happened; most recently on two occasions, we noticed the burner was on due to smell of gas.
This is not a one-off situation. It has occurred at least a half-dozen times since we purchased the stove a few months back.
I believe the likely cause is the design (size, location and/or type) of the range controls on the front panel.
Specifically, a) the front controls have very big knobs, b) the knob springs are very weak, and c) the front panel with the knobs is diagonal (making the knobs very easy to bump into when reaching near the stove).
The make of the range is LG, the mode is: LSG4513ST

The product, in the report: gas rang e with oven
The flame on the front right burner (also called: the power plus burner) operates erratically.
The burners have to be turned to the high setting in order for the igniter to start the flame. Currently, the burners spew high amounts of gas and air at the same time, which causes the problem. The consumer removed the burner cap and looked underneath it and viewed the base. This is a 17K burner. Underneath that cap, there are instructions: “add choke and screw for LP gas.” The consumer reviewed his owner’s manual and saw that this information was not referenced in the manual. The consumer went on-line and searched for more information on this “choke and screw” verbiage for his brand of range. He did not located information on this verbiage for his range, but he did find this verbiage mentioned with General Electric ranges. The consumer was also able to view the schematics of the rang/oven on-line.
By then, he had already spoken with the mfr. several times about this issue. He asked the mfr. for this (choke and screw) part, but they did not have any information about it. He was referred to their Parts Dept., but the rep. in that department was not aware of this part or verbiage. They were aware of a “complete conversion kit”. The consumer asked for a breakdown of what would be in the kit, but he could not identify if the part he needed would be included.
The consumer made several more calls to the manufacturer’s Customer Care Division, but there were no new developments. He then left a message with [REDACTED] , who is the president for the mfr’s North American Div. On 4/18/2017, he also sent a physical letter to Mr. [REDACTED] expressing his concerns.
The consumer found a Training Bulletin (32-05) with more information on this “choke and screw” feature, dated 3/2005, which indicated that there may be an erratic flame that could cause injury if this part was not applied to the burner. This choke and screw part is essentially a #10” screw (metric) that is has a 7/8” hole, where the gas is emitted. The choke appears to reduce the hole by half of that size.
Based on the consumer’s communication with the company, he has not been able to determine if they actually manufacture the part. The consumer is willing to pay for the part, but indicated that the part should have been installed on the range/oven, when he purchased it or provided with the unit at the time of purchased.
The range/oven was purchased in the Spring of 2016, but the consumer was on travel and it was not used until March 2017.

The product, in the report: Gas range
We have had an ongoing issue with our LG Gas range for years now. Every so often we have found a burner knob is partially turned and gas is leaking out. We cannot be certain whether this is from bumping the knob or from a failure to shut off completely. Like others have also reported I have also found it seems there is a flaw in the knob design which causes the part of the knob that surrounds the metal stem on the switch to be both soft and pliable and as such prone to cracking and breakage.
I had read through a number of prior complaints at CPSC online today following what really became the last straw just yesterday when our range had apparently been leaking gas while we were away and had our dog closed up alone inside the house. It was possible the gas had been on four or more hours and it certainly took a few hours for a us to air out. This really is a legitimate safety concern.
I am truly disappointed the manufacturer does not even seem to address any of these similar complaints with any sort of permanent solution, or really any useful advice at all. Many customers online complain that the customer service agents only pass the call over to the parts department. Also, if you look at the response provided to CPSC it is always word for word the exact same “prepared” statement that offers no help.
It would be more helpful if the manufacturer could instead provide some practical solutions, even if they will not issue a recall. And suggesting to replace the knobs is only acceptable advice as long as the replacements do not suffer from the same inferior design flaws. Customers deserve a practical, lasting solution.

I purchased a LG range in January , 2009, Serial 810KMUZ 10758 Model # LRG303575T. A major safety flaw has not been corrected with the knobs that control the gas flame. The original knobs that were supplied with the range contain a plastic that becomes brittle and cracks off after three months of usage. If the knob is slightly nudged in passing, the gas will turn on unknowingly and could potentially cause a house explosion. The position of the knobs is also poorly located. At waist level, it is easy to bump when walking past the range. I called LG at 1 (800) 243-0000on Tuesday, February 21st at 3.50PM and spoke with [REDACTED] and [REDACTED]. Both LG representatives refused to address the safety issue and refused to send replacement knobs. Please order LG to send me safely designed replacement knobs at their cost.

The product, in the report: This is a 30” stainless steel natural gas range.
This report refers to an LG brand Gas Range purchased new April 1 2016. Model # LRG4115ST. Serial # 601KND0J087. Home Depot also did the installation. When ever starting the OVEN we smell gas for a few minutes, then the smell goes away. This does not happen w/ the cook top. When we contacted LG for repair, the first time we were told it was installation error. The second time several months later we were told it is a normal. Yesterday when I called the LG Customer Care line I was first told it was an issue for my gas company, then I was told it was installed wrong and finally the person at LG read the last service techs notes and repeated it is normal for this unit. It is my understanding that you should not smell gas whenever you start a modern gas oven. We have Not had a fire yet but I believe this could lead to a dangerous situation.and I wonder if this is a design issue.

The product, in the report: LG dual oven gas range model 4315
I purchased an LG dual oven gas range which was delivered on January 1st. The ultra high burner would not ignite and had a dangerous flare up when manually lite. Service call replaced a missing part in the burner cap, but the burner was still slow to ignite and continued to flare up intermittently. This burner is one of front burners and can cause injury if you do not stand back. Second issue is the knobs. they are on the front of the unit and do not lock. My microwave is located above the stove and when I leaned slightly against the knobs they turn on just enough to fill the kitchen with gas fumes. The most dangerous issue for me was the noxious fumes emitted by the lower oven. They continued after 4-5 uses and when I checked the lower oven it was covered in soot. Nasty black soot that you would find in a wood burning fireplace or campfire when the wood does not completely burn.

The product, in the report: gas double oven with range
There are dials on the front of the gas range, which are used to turn the gas on. One presses the dial down and turns on the gas and then turns the dial to the igniter setting. Once the igniter comes on, the temperature is at its highest setting. One can then turn the temperature down from that point.
12/2016: Unknowingly, the consumer’s cat walked across the range and touched one of the dials, which turned the gas on. The consumer stepped out of the home for approx. 8 - 10 minutes, but when he returned, his home was filled with gas. He immediately opened the windows and doors in the home to get rid of the gas and turned the dial to the off position.
On a different day, the consumer touched the control dials to test them and found that all were extremely sensitive. The slightest touch can cause a dial to turn, which causes the gas to come on. However, the dial may not have been turned far enough to light the igniter.
1/2017: The consumer contacted the manufacturer and they contacted one of their service companies for him. They would not give the consumer the contact information for the service company. They said that they would get back to the consumer. The rep. called the consumer back and indicated that there were complaints that the dials were too difficult to turn, so the manufacturer redesigned them. The rep. made arrangements for a service tech. to inspect his range.
2/6/2017: The tech. came to the consumer’s home and installed new gas valve burners per the mfr’s instructions. However, when the consumer inspected them, he did not see any difference between them and the ones that were replaced. The consumer believes that the replacement valves would present the exact same problem and he said that the tech. agreed with him. The consumer also noted that the tech. said that the valves that came with the range were supposed to be the re-designed ones, which addressed this issue. The tech. ([REDACTED]) was from Stafford Repair Company, Tel: [REDACTED]. The consumer was given Ticket #[REDACTED].
The consumer believes that the knobs are too easy to turn and could present a gas and a fire hazard.

Consumer is reporting that he experienced problems with his gas range. The burner control knobs are located at the hip level which if brushed against easily turns the unit on. Most recently his spouse had placed something on the range which was wrapped in butcher paper, she reached for something and brushed against the knob without her knowledge. She then noticed that there were flames emitting from the burner where she had placed the object. He stated that he immediately use a lid cover to extinguish the fire. The push and turn feature for the knob has a failure which causes the unit to turn on without actually doing this.
The manufacturer was not contacted as yet. There has been other incidents where it would not ignite but would cause the gas to escape.
Consumer feels that this range is unsafe and should be reported.

The knobs that turn on the gas stove burners turn on when slightly bumped by anyone that brushes up close to the stove. Even with the knowledge that they turn on easily, I have bumped them on at least 40 times, and have burned towels twice. LG sent knob replacements, which made no difference. The knobs are at an angle in the front of the stove. They have no resistance to prevent them from turning on by mistake. This stove is a terrible fire hazard.

Knobs for the range on brand new LG do not work properly; the safety lock only works if you’re turning them from the top (safety lock requiring you to depress the knobs). From the sides of the knobs, ie the front of the range, they will turn with trivial contact. Several times I’ve come into the kitchen to find it smelling of gas, and the oven hasn’t even been in for a month. Today, something was actually lit on fire, causing thousands in damage to my kitchen - which I literally just had redone (floors were put in 2 weeks ago, cabinets were just finished installed yesterday, etc). The casual contact with the knobs occurs when someone is using the over-the-range microwave directly above the range, like many decent kitchens have.

This caller is reporting her gas range purchased from New York from retailer in 2009. Incident three times in 7 years. Caller has been corresponding back & forth about her plastic knobs crack and come apart. The manufacturer has replaced the knobs but they replaced them with other plastic knobs which also cracked and broke. They now have steel shaft knobs that don’t come off, they don’t become brittle and crack. She has asked for the steel knobs but she has been advised that they replaced the original plastic knobs and will only sell her the steel shaft knobs. She is reporting this as a severe burn, injury hazard due to the plastic knobs being affected so negatively by the heat and once they break off the only thing left is the metal. She is asking for CPSC assistance to report this unit as a safety hazard and to obtain the knobs with the metal/steel shaft which is not affected so quickly by the heat. There are no injuries being reported at this time. The caller has contacted the manufacturer on numerous occasions.

The product, in the report: LG 6.9 cu. ft. Gas Double Oven Range with ProBake Convection in Stainless Steel - Model LDG4313ST
Purchased the LG 30” Freestanding Double Oven Gas Ranges (LDG4323ST) to replace our current stove. We found quickly throughout the day that we had to constantly check the knobs for the range to determine if they’ve been pushed on. My wife or children would use the over the range microwave and with the slightest of push from leaning forward would move the knobs on the range to allow gas or ignite. We have experienced the knobs to ignite burners while cooking/stirring pots on the two back burns almost causing an accident or catching fire. My concern elevated when the men working to complete my kitchen remodel, was grouting the back splash tile and leaned against the range which ignited causing him to get burned. Investigating why this is happening, what I can see is the controls are mounted to a front plate which is on an angle (not horizontally flat or vertically up and down like many other ranges) with large knobs that when pressed against with the front plate angle will cause the knobs to turn. I have contacted both LG and hhgregg voicing my safety concern. LG has dispatched two servicemen to inspect the range. One used video to display how quickly and easily these knobs can be accidentally turned, which he sent to the LG Korean facility. The other explained that with no downward force the knobs do not turn and are working properly. Both explained how I should purchase safety covers to be installed on my knobs. Which I explained that I did not purchase a $1,000 device that needs to be modified because of design and safety reasons. We have since had multiple incidents where we’ve found the range to be on with not knowing for how long. My fear is that (like other reviews and incidents I’ve read) something will happen that will cause injury to a family member.

The product, in the report: natural gas range for residential kitchens
I was standing at the kitchen counter, a step away from the LG Gas Range. My wife reached across to kiss me and we both heard the range ignite and turn on the front right burner on high. It looked like her sweater was in the flame, but she pulled away quickly enough to avoid a fire. I then reached over and turned off the knob on the gas range, which turned on when her sleeve brushed across the knob. It takes incredibly little effort to turn the valve knobs on, and we put up signs around the kitchen to remind us of the hazard.
The valve which the knob operates was one of a set of new replacement valves that an LG range repairman had installed on 5/9/2016 to replace the valves that I had reported as faulty in a prior report to the CPSC (report no. 20160420-6B4AF-2147420077). The LG repairman was at my home from their Phoenix AZ office. He also said that LG told him that LG warehouses had “worked through” the old stock and replaced it with new valves that required more of a physical push on them before they would turn. These valves were portrayed as a new style that corrects for the problem described in my prior report (and a virtually identical report, no. 20160311-11F22-2147420995). I told him after they were installed that they act identically like the faulty valves I reported. He said he was told they were a new design, but the part number was identical to the prior valves. It is very poor practice to use the same part number for a re-designed part; it would be unable to control its inventory and assure the old parts were never accidentally put into the inventory. Any company that does this contradicts the statement LG made in response to my prior CPSC report: “Our process not only rigorously tests to insure the quality of product leaving our factory, but we also carefully monitor how our products perform in use. LG takes very seriously the concerns of our customers and uses such feedback on an on-going basis to evaluate and improve our products.” Using valves of the same part number, portrayed as new design, combined with the fact these valves operate identically to the ones they replaced, the evidence is very powerful that LG misrepresented itself to me, and to any other owners of the same range. It is also evidence that LG, in fact, did not carefully test the gas range before sending it out the door to the supply stores. It is also noteworthy that LG never informed the CPSC that it had performed this replacement as a solution to its range defect.
I propose that LG be ordered to stop producing and marketing all gas ranges in the United States until it can prove to CPSC that it has improved its design practices, its part supply practices, and its representation to CPSC and the American Public that it is indeed a safe company to deal with.
I also want CPSC to order LG to recall these ranges and redesign the valves for these ranges, all of them, not just mine.

The gas comes on before the piezo igniter does. Several times now we have been lucky to catch it before we ended up dead do to explosion or gassed out. After the first time I thought okay just a fluke, we had already purchased a gas leak detector as suggested. Now it has had two more times, this is just unsafe. We contacted LG they sent out a repair rep. they really didn’t seam to care and said that’s just the way it is. On a gas furnace the piezo igniter turns on first then the gas, this is how it should be!. They need a wake up call to fix this! I love my gas range but I don’t want to die because of it either. Oven is being used for normal day to day use. I feel this oven is a hazard because it reaches temps up to 475 degrees when set for 350 and does not register on control panel that it is that hot. Has caused me to burn food without knowing why until I bought a thermometer. Manual does not state oven will do this. I have been told by LG technicians and customer service this is a function of oven.

The product, in the report: LG gas range
Feeling sick for days: burning eyes, sore throat, coughing, headaches, fatigue. Thought it was pollen, allergies. Then tried to turn on super boiler burner on LG gas RANGE but middle burner came on instead and I couldn’t’ turn it off. It stayed on no mater what I did. It was Sunday so called gas company. Took hours but when they finally came said gas leak in stove and turned off gas. Took 2 days for repairman to come. He checked for leaks but showed me that all 5 knobs had a plastic part cracked that made it impossible to turn any of the burners off completely. It cost $450 for replacement knobs and they are made of the same cheap plastic part that is very vulnerable to cracking and resulting in same hazard. This is a $1900 stove. I was sickened by the fumes, but could have died from breathing these fumes. This knob design flaw is a fire, explosion, injury hazard and should be recalled immediately. Researching replacement knobs, I literally read hundreds of this same complaint on a dozen sites. When I called LG to express my concerns all they would do was give me a number for a business that has been trained to fix their product. All they cared about it their profits.

The product, in the report: refer to my account at LG.com. There I state the model and serial number of the range.
Range knobs slant downward and range sticks out past standard depth counter about two inches. This makes it easy to accidentally turn a knob on without realizing it. This has happened to us several times, and the last time we had no idea how long the gas had flowed from the burner (unlit). The very strong odor was the only thing that alerted us. This is very unsafe.
Take note that there is an identical report at 20160311-11F22-2147420995.
This is completely unacceptable, and your design team should know better. A simple button to turn off all burner gas flows, as you did for the oven burner, would solve the whole risk problem. I am surprised LG hasn’t been sued for this design flaw.
I am looking for a solution, and I don’t know what it is. I wait for a quick response with a solution.

Caller is reporting that the third sets of knobs she had received from the company is broken again which causes gas to escape. This will be her second report about problems with the gas range knobs. She stated that she does not only need a 4th set of knobs but that the range should be replaced.
Incident report [REDACTED] was filed in 2015.
(4/15) The manufacturer was contacted and she was advised that the range was no longer under warranty, therefore they could not assist her. Caller is frustrated that she has to go through this and feels that the company should buy her out or something at this time.
Caller stated that she file a report with the State Attorney General as well.
Caller feels that these knobs are a safety hazard and needs to be recalled.

March 2014 this gas range being reported was purchased from retailer in Michigan however after ten months the caller used the self cleaning option then afterward she was baking but when she checked the oven door had melted. She contacted the manufacturer who replaced it with the same model range.
The end of April 2015 the caller received the replacement model# with serial# the caller said problems were that she had to set this range at a lower setting than she would use for any of her cooking and baking but she was adjusting to that limitation. March 2016 the caller used the self cleaning option for this second range then noticed afterward that the floor of the oven had become so hot during self cleaning that it is bubbled and the enamel is burnt and chipped. Oven does not maintain a steady temperature at any time temp Temp changes up to 75 degrees differance.
This oven can not be used unless you are right in the same room. Temp changes so much that a fire (burnt food) could acoare.
The bottom of the knobs are scorched.
There are no injuries being reported.
The caller contacted the manufacturer who advised her that they would replace the knobs, the flooring of the oven and the shield that goes under the flooring.
They refused to ship these pieces to the consumer but would ship it to a repair source however, the repair source selected by the manufacturer advised the caller that her range is no longer manufactured and neither are the parts requested.
She is reporting this as a severe burn injury hazard and is asking that this range become recalled with refund as the remedy.

It has also started a fire because I turned on the stove with my hip while cleaning he stove and the towel caught fire.
It happens so often we now remove the knobs unless we need to use the stove. Model is a LG LDG4315ST.

The product, in the report: LG double oven gas range Model #LDG4315ST
I purchased an LG gas range in September, installed in November. From day one if you brush against the knobs, the gas comes on. You don’t have to push them in. There is no clicking sound, so the gas doesn’t ignite, but escapes in the room. The only way I know the gas is on is the odor of the gas. I have been outside the house and come in after 30 minutes, and smell the strong odor of gas. I have contacted the manufacturer and they tell me there is no fix for this problem. I have turned knobs on LG ranges on display and you have to push them in to get them to come on. I have asked The Home Depot to make it right and they refuse. LG won’t fix it. At this point I’m afraid there is going to be an explosion, because if I’m not here and the gas is no, no one will know it. This has happened not only to me but to my daughter who lives here. I really feel this is a hazard and an accident waiting to happen. What can I do now? There are no re-calls on this range that I can find. Model No. is LDG4315ST. It’s supposedly their top of the line range.

The knobs melt and crack on our LG gas range model number LRG30357ST. The range was purchased new in 08/2009 and the knobs began melting/cracking within a year. LG has sent “one time courtesy” replacements 3-4 times now and the most recent set began breaking after only 7.5 months. When the knobs break they do not always turn off and have caused gas leaks. The replacements offered online and through LG’s parts supplier are cost prohibitive and defective anyway so the risk increases.

The product, in the report: Gas Range/stove. The control knobs that activate the gas can be turned on with too little pressure causing accidental gas leaks
I would like to file a complaint regarding LS gas range model # LRG3021ST. There is a design flaw on the control knobs in which the knobs turn on too easily, even with a slight touch when accidentally leaning or brushing up against the knob. This has created multiple accidental gas leaks, so this is a huge safety and fire/explosion hazard.
I have read online and many people have also raised the same concern on this and other models of LG as ranges. I have filed a complaint with LG but they insisted this is how the stoves are designed and they are unresponsive.
I am concerned about the lives of my family and others who are using LG gas ranges and stoves. Please escalate this with LG because I really hope this flaw would not result in loss of lives.

The product, in the report: LG gas range
We purchased an LG gas range 6 months ago and the right front burner (the “power plus” burner) has never worked properly. First, the flame was ridiculously low--1/2 inch or less. Now, after 6 visits from technicians, they say it is working properly AS DESIGNED. In other words, that’s just how it is. If this is properly working I am surprised that this has not been recalled for safety reasons… the flame now leaps up approximately 15 inches on ignition. A person could be seriously burned by this if they were not expecting it. It is also a hazard to have this burner available when children are present, since the knob is easily reached (it’s on the front of the stove).
I have been trying to resolved this with LG customer “service” for months. I get stonewalled. Even though the last technician told me that he filed his report that the problem is not repairable, LG says there is no such note in their records.
I am at a loss as to what to do next. This stove is hazardous.

The product, in the report: Gas Range with double oven
This range came as part of a set with an over-the-range microwave. The safety issue arises with the placement of the burner knobs on the front of the range. They are positioned such that they are easily turned on when reaching above the range into the microwave, or into the cabinets above the microwave. Sometime the burner goes on, and sometimes the burner doesn’t light and the gas goes on without a flame. Either case can lead to serious consequences. We have had other ranges and over-the-range microwaves and not experienced this problem. It’s the positioning of the knobs and the ease with which the knobs can be turned.

The product, in the report: LG Double Oven Gas Range. LDG3036ST.FSTELGA / Range/Oven/Electric Cooktop. Serial # 402MMTJ03361. Stainless steel front.
Baking bread at 450 degrees in lower gas oven of LG double oven stove. About 5 minutes before the bread was done there was a loud POP in the kitchen. We thought a bird had it the window as they sometimes do. I went into the kitchen and saw the glass in the lower oven door shattered. The safety glass is in between two other glass panels so it did not go anywhere but to the bottom of the door and fell out on the floor. I finished baking the bread as it only had 5 minutes left.
I have baked french bread at 450 degrees many many times in the lower oven. The LG stove is about a year and a half old, purchased 2/2014, but warranty had expired. I phoned the 1-800 customer service number listed in the owner’s manual. I was informed that LG would grant a warranty extension and would make arrangements for this issue to be repaired. I have used the self cleaning feature on this oven only once. I did NOT push the rack in with the oven door. I did NOT bump the glass part of the oven door at all. I did NOT slam the door shut. Needless to say, I am somewhat disappointed in this product. I bake a lot and do not need to be worrying whether it will explode again!

I have an LG gas range Model LRGLRG30915W which I purchased on 3-8-11. On Friday, 8-29-14, I was preheating the oven on 350 degrees. I was standing next to the oven and getting a pan out of the bottom cabinet. All of a sudden I hear a crackling noise. I look up and see the oven glass still mostly still in the door completely shattered. Then as I stood there, all the glass fell out of the oven. I was barefoot. I went to get my shoes, but because glass scattered all over the floor I ended up with a cut on the bottom of my right foot and a piece of glass in my left foot.
My left foot also had glass in it. On 3/7/14 I went to emergency to have it removed. I am diabetic - this could have been dangerous.

The product, in the report: Freestanding range
The knobs of my gas range have broken. I have switched them around to be able to use the most used burners but they all have broken now. Now I have to turn the burners off without the knobs. When I was using the stovetop the other night, I thought I had turned off a burner but it remained on, at a very low setting. Had I not turned off the room lights immediately after, I would not have noticed it on and would have left the burner on indefinitely. LG will replace defective knobs for other models but refuses to replace for my model, LRG39355st. They gave me a parts distributor that quoted $63 per knob (with 5 knobs, that would be over $300, might as well buy a new range that works). I cannot afford either at this point so I will have to do without a stovetop for now.

I turned the self cleaning oven feature on for the first time on the top oven and let it cycle. After a couple of hours, it had finished it’s cleaning cycle I checked the control panel and all seemed well and went to bed. When I got up in the morning, I walked by the stove and discovered that the control panel plastic face had melted, and found that the control panel buttons were un-responsive. I killed the power to reset the stove, and found that the control panel was flashing an error code indicating that the keypad was shorted. Guess I was lucky the stove hadn’t caught fire in the night while I was sleeping.

Twice the flame goes out by itself. Then the room smells like gas. The consumer contacted h.h. gregg several times and advised them of the problem. No response from the store. The consumer called LG in November/2013. He was advised that they would send a technician out to repair the stove.
(1/2014)The consumer set up an appointment with D&D Appliance. The technician checked the stove to see if it had been set up properly. The technician put a new regulator on the stove. (01/27/2014) The technician came out to install the new regulator. The problem still persists. The technician came out again to review the stove. The regulator did not solve the problem. The consumer called LG again. He was advised that they needed to get the gas pressure tested.
The consumer had it tested by Gasper River Propane. Every thing tested fine. The consumer was advised that there was a stove problem not agas problem The consumer called LG again. LG recommended that the consumer contact A&E Factory Service to come out to check the stove. (04/22/2014) The A &E technician came out and suggested that the regulator be replaced. I purchased an LG cooktop. The plastic knobs failed within one year so I called LG for replacement as this is a serious safety issue. After several calls with LG support, it was determined LG would not replace the knobs. I purchased new knobs for ~$25 each, totaling $125. FOR A NEW COOKTOP! As a precaution I started turning off the gas under the cabinet. The knobs have failed again making the cooktop more unsafe.

The product, in the report: LG LDG3036ST Double Oven Gas Range
Range control knobs on the front of the range can be easily operated by a young child resulting in potential gas release, fire if something is on top of the range, or burns to the child
The knob requires that you push them in approximately 1/8 inch before they will turn. My 18 month old who is barely 30 inches tall can reach up and operate the knobs. While we watch him closely and have child-proofed our cabinets and doors, he has turned the knobs on the range to the point where gas was flowing yet the igniter was not yet engaged, resulting in gas leaking into the room. On other occasions he has turned the burners on, off, or changed the settings of an operating burner.
I informed LG technical support about this hazard and asked if some sort of cover was available to prevent a child from operating the knobs from below. I was told that there was no cover available and that the push-turn lock function was enough to prevent a child from operating them, even though I explained how my child had already done so. I have had to fashion my own cover that extends from beneath the knobs and allows access only from above.

The product, in the report: LG 5 burner Gas Range stainless steel model
The flame control knobs on my LG gas range repeatedly fail, often resulting in gas leaking even when knobs are in the off position. LG replacement parts for the same model also fail within days of normal use. There is an internal plastic component in the knobs which fractures (possibly due to heat) and this prevents the knob from engaging the flame control mechanisms. This has resulted in delayed ignition, flares, and most commonly, gas leakage. There are numerous complaints online regarding the same issue and the same model #. LG sends replacements knobs which also fail.

I have an LG gas range Model #LRG30357ST. The control knobs are made of plastic and the sleeve to turn the gas on and off is made of plastic. Due to the heat of the oven and range, the plastic sleeves crack. THis cracking causes the knob to spin around the control stem. Once this happens you can not tell by the setting of the control knob whether the gas is on or off. Over thanksgiving we did a lot of cooking and thought the gas was off only to wake up to the smell of gas due to the inability to control the stem. THe house had to be cleared and the range disconnected.

The product, in the report: LG LDG 3016ST stainless steel double oven gas range. Has high/tall grids. Comes with a center griddle that can be used to cook pancakes or breakfast foods on. Top of stove has three black grid parts with a black inset.
Cooking on the LG double oven gas range produced burning odors which I could not at first figure out where it was coming from. After a few weeks I noticed that the handles on my pots and pans were browning. One day as I was boiling some water using the superBoiler burner, the handle twisted from being weakened from the heat coming from the burner. The flames shoot exceptionally high on this range in order to reach/heat the pan. The grid is higher than a lot of other manufacturers. The high level of the grid means the fire has a longer reach to get to the pan, so the space in between leaves more opportunity for anything like pot holders, scarfs, long sleeves, pan handles, etc. to receive direct heat, intense heat or flame contact. And I have experienced all of this. This is not a safe product for children or adults to be around. I am especially concerned about my pan handles that seem to have melted away - making them extremely weak and risky to handle or even to continue using. The fumes from the melting handles eventually give you some warning that something is amiss with this range, but you may not make the connection right away because in my case this was a new stove so I thought it was burning off its newness as I was told by the installer that it would take awhile for that particular smell to go away. Handling pans with weakened handles makes it dangerous to cook on because the handle may tilt or worst, give way all together and spill hot food or liquid on-not just the cook, but anyone else nearby. Luckily I only received burns on my fingers and wrist trying to safely get the pans from the stove to the table when I experienced a sudden wobbling in the handle. I now have to replace all of my pans to be sure the handles don’t just give out while cooking or trying to move them from one spot to another. Please recall this product or let others know about this unsafe feature.

Please look into recalling LG model LRG3095SB Gas range. The burner valve is too sensitive, when brushed up against turns slightly and opens up the gas valve and leaks gas. I have multiple times reached up to my over the stove microwave and brushed up against the valve and turned on the gas. It is turned so slightly that you don’t even notice that it is even on. On Sunday night 11/11/2012 my house filled up with gas and upon waking up I smelt gas and noticed that the stove was on. I opened all the windows and called LG the next day. LG stated unless there is a recall on this gas range it is no longer their responsibility, even if this malfunction cause carbon monoxide related death.
At a separate occasion they had replace all my stove knobs because they cracked at the stem of the knob so you couldn’t see if the stove was on and they replaced them even though my warranty had expired. I assumed that they did this because of a safety issue but upon talking to them on the above issue they said that it was only a curiosity. I have seen many complaints about this on-line and LG would not replace the knobs because the warranty expired.

The product, in the report: Stainless steel dual compartment LG gas oven, model LDG 3016ST/00. Manufacture date of February 2012. Product code FB4335NS.FSTELGA. Serial number 202MMHP01513.
Product is an LG Gas Oven, model LDG3016ST/00. This model contains a dual-oven configuration, with two separate compartments and doors with a larger bottom compartment. Both doors contain a metal frame and a glass viewing window.
During the incident, I preheated the bottom compartment and placed a dutch oven inside. When I went to remove it, the dutch oven lid touched the top compartment glass, which immediately exploded and sent shattered glass all over the kitchen floor and into the oven below. The bottom portion of the oven’s top compartment exterior glass is not protected by any covering and the incident is easily repeatable and could be very dangerous.
Because this is a newer model, the glass replacement was covered by a warranty. I contacted the company directly and they mentioned that they do not view this as a safety issue. The remedy--placing a metal or other covering under the door glass so it is not exposed--is simple and inexpensive. The repairman also acknowledged the design flaw with this oven, which apparently is LG’s first attempt at this design.

When that happens the stove leaks gas.
My husband called and we were sent replacement knobs. The replacement knobs cracked again.
THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AND IS NOT ISOLATED TO JUST ONE STOVE.
I went online and have been looking over consumers who have reported on this stove to retailers such as Best Buy. They have had the same issue as my husband and I have expirienced.
I am very dissapointed that LG has not gotten in front of this issue. Besides this stove, I own an LG stainless steel convection microwave, stainless steel dishwasher and a french door refrigerator. I am very happy with the rest of the products but the free standing stove knobs should be addressed before someone dies over this.

The 1st time oven was used, the top panel of the oven door (made of plastic) began to melt, burner knobs melted, and panel behind knobs became extremely hot (would burn skin). Seems like design problem as others noted similar problems via internet search. LG appliance technician came to inspect unit and acknowledged problem. LG customer service would only replace damaged parts (obviously would only melt again!). Appears to layman to be defective, dangerous design flaw, which could cause serious burns especially to children. Plan to return stove and replace with another (non LG) model.

The product, in the report: LG gas range LRG3093ST
LG gas range model LRG3093ST has defective knobs. The nylon liner inside the knob splits and the knob doesn’t turn the valve off properly, you can return to the house and find the kitchen full of gas. Many items on the web about this problem and it not being addressed by LG. It is not enough to repace the broken knob with another new but equally defective knob because they break without warning and the fire hazard occurs again.

I purchased this gas range brand new from HH Gregg retail store, Towson, Md 21204. This stove has a flaw in it’s design, this is the second time this stove has out of the blue started trying to ignite itself and the only way to stop it is to unplug it from the wall. Both time I have been home, and been able to unplug it before a problem arose, what happens when someone isn’t home.
LG comes out and claims that it is repaired, but yet it continues to happen causing a danger to family and home.

The consumer has a safety concern with the switches (knobs used to control the burners) for the burners. He states that where the knobs are placed they could easily be switched on accidently.
The consumer states that any slight to bump or brush up against the knob could cause it to release gas.
The firm was contacted the week of 3/12/2012 and a technician came out to the home 3/16/2012 . The consumer states that the technician used tie straps and glue to prevent any accidentally turning of the knobs.
The consumer states that the fix that he received was a temporary solution and solve the problem.
The consumer states that firm agreed that they are aware of the failure with the range and has discontinued making that part of the range.
He was advised to place child locks on it and or remove the knobs to prevent any future hazard.
The consumer still currently uses the range but is very careful.

The product, in the report: LG gas range product LRG30357ST
I have purchased a LG gas range model LRG30855ST there has been smell of “gas” I have noted that the knobs on the appliance are cracked, thus ineffective in completely turning off the gas to the cook top. Researching online apparently this is a common complaint among consumers. The type of plastic used, and the construction of the knob predispose it to failure. If the gas is not completely turned off it poses a fire and explosion hazard. I have resorted to using pliers to close off the gas.

LG is claiming that I declined their offer for the 6-month extended warranty, obviously according to their records of their phone communication they had repeatedly with me over the past three months. I have to inform you that during these phone calls LG also offered, repeatedly, the option of a full refund, which I never declined. What happened to it? It seems, in retrospect, that this option maybe was never available. As it concerns, the issue of the 6-month or the one year warranty, this is to protect myself. If you remember, in the beginning LG claimed that everything was fine with the gas range and the problem was due to the fact of us misusing it. Now, they claim that the way they fixed the problem it is sustainable. Why are they not backing it up with a warranty?
By the way, since when a corporation can close a complaint, that was opened from BBB?
Best Regards, - Show quoted text - -- [REDACTED] 05/05/2011 Send Consumer Rebuttal - No New Offer - AJR CLT.cf.rtf 05/05/2011 Received Business’ Rebuttal Response [REDACTED], We regret to hear that the customer is unsatisfied. Like I previously explained, the internal mechanisms of the knobs have been changed to prevent any further problem. We offered the customer an additional 6 months extension of warranty with the replacement; however, the customer has declined this offer. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide a full 1 year warranty. The customer has been informed that the case has been cancelled at this time due to not accepting the offer.
Thank you, [REDACTED] 04/20/2011 Forward Consumer Rebuttal to Business BLT.cf.rtf 04/20/2011 Consumer rejects business’ final offer (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) No, as I said to the delivery people yesterday (4/19) I will not accept delivery of the new gas range till this issue is resolved. It is obvious from their answer that LG does not to commit to any type of warranty further than the 90 days for the new “improved” product. I believe it is not my fault that the gas range has to be replaced, I did not stall for time claiming that it is my fault in the beginning like they did, and it is myself and my family that every time we use this product we have to check that the burners are turned off and the knobs are not loose. I do believe that 3 months of warranty are not enough to see that the improvement of the product is sustainable and it is clear from their answers that they do not want to commit themselves any further. Why is that, if they stand behind their improvement? I will not accept the replacement unless they give the one-year warranty. It is a new product after all, others things can go wrong. Otherwise, they can take back their range, issue a refund to me, to buy a gas range that it is not dangerous and I do not have to spend my time disputing the obvious. 04/19/2011 Send Business’ Rebuttal Response-New Offer CLT.cf.rtf 04/19/2011 Received Business’ Rebuttal Response [REDACTED], I can certainly understand the customer’s frustration. The knobs do appear the same externally; however, the internal mechanisms have been changed to prevent the issue the customer previously experienced. The customer will be receiving a call within the next 2-5 business days to schedule delivery. Also, if any future issues were to arise, the customer can contact us directly for possible assistance.
Thank you, [REDACTED] 04/08/2011 Forward Consumer Rebuttal to Business BLT.cf.rtf 04/08/2011 Received Consumer Rebuttal To finally resolve this, I would like an official response to the following: when I communicated with the representative from the Customer Resolutions Department, she made clear that the warranty that applies to the replacement gas range is 90 days in addition to the existing warranty. This timeframe in my case will be five months from now. My question stands: what will LG do after the expiration of this warranty, if the replacement faces the same issues and does not work as anticipated? 04/05/2011 Forward Consumer Rebuttal to Business 04/05/2011 Received Consumer Rebuttal [REDACTED], Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, the new gas range that LG sent over was damaged on the top left side and the delivery people did not even take it off the truck. I had the chance to take a quick look at the new knobs, though. They have not changed the material as they claimed, they just fitted a metal ring over the plastic to hold it together. The issue was from the beginning the plastic material that is holding the knob. Now, it may hold a little longer before it breaks, after any warranty is over of course, but still the problem, in my opinion is not resolved. I have called twice the department responsible for my exchange in the past 4-5 days, left a message and I received no response. I would like to keep the case open and by now, the only solution I will accept is a refund. I spent enough of my valuable time with them already.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Thank you for the cooperation of BBB for my complaint against LG Electronics.
I have one question: The company (LG) has contacted me and offered to exchange my gas range oven with a new one, same model. They do claim that the knobs have been fitted with a new material that is safe and it does not brake. They are going to install it as I requested. Now, do I close the case with BBB as resolved? What happens if the Range comes to my house and I start facing the same issues? Do I open a new case, if they do not want to take any further action? Please advise.

First, they do not offer any solution to the problem. This is clearly a manufacturer’s defect product issue. My question still stands: Is there a defective product with the same problem that will keep appearing for the whole life of the range or not? I f it is not a defective product, and the fact that the knobs keep breaking due to my fault, why LG keeps honoring the warranty and has sent me 10 new knobs already? Second, ask LG to provide us with the phone records of my communications with their service department. There, they can hear their own people admitting that there is a problem with the knobs. The order # is [REDACTED] and I used my Home Depot Consumer Card. The cost before tax was $1,417.99. Shortly after the purchase, my wife and I noticed that at some days there was a smell of gas coming from the left side of the oven. After our licensed plumber checked the connection and found that there was no gas leak from that, we contacted the LG service department. There was an appointment scheduled for 8/4/2010 with a LG technician ([REDACTED]) work order # [REDACTED]. when he came he found nothing wrong with the product and he left. The gas smell was persisting though. A few days later one of the knobs that control the burners went loose into my wife’s hands and she could not turn the burner off. I pulled out the knob, closed the burner and I realized that the inside of the knob that it goes in the housing that comes out of the range, is made out of plastic and broke. This makes the knob not to be able to control it and turn the burner off (just turns 360 degrees wildly). I called the LG service department, spoke to a service person (first name [REDACTED]) gave me a case # [REDACTED], and offered to send me 5, yes 5 new knobs, saying also that this was probably where the gas odor was coming from, not to be able to shut off one of the burners completely. As of today, in all of the original knobs that the product came with, the plastic inside broke with the everyday use, and one of the new five I received, as well. Realizing that this is a very serious hazard issue since somebody can leave one of the burners on and leave the house (thinking that the burners are off) with gas coming out from the burner that is on , I contacted LG service department again to voice my serious concerns (2/21/2011). Again, they offered to send me 5 new knobs, which I declined for two reasons: first because the new knobs will not solve the hazard risk I described above, and second this can not go on for the rest of the life of the product, and that after the end of the warranty period, I will have to bear the cost of replacing the defected knobs for as long as I have the product. They offered an appointment with the same technician, for 2/23/2011, which I accepted. The technician came on 2/24/2011 with 5 new knobs!!!!! He said that there is nothing else that can be done, and that is what they do with the rest of the complaints about this product. He also gave a new case # [REDACTED]. I kept the 5 knobs and immediately after he left I called the LG service department again (800-2430000). They said that this is a cosmetic issue, not a manufacturer’s defect, and it happens due to my faulty way of using the product and this is their stand. One question that comes to my mind is: why they honor the one year warranty, and keep sending me knobs for free since it is my fault? Please, something has to be done with this product. This is a very serious issue ( potential gas leak and the known consequences) and in my opinion, LG is taking it very lightly. Unfortunately, a couple of friends bought the same product and they are facing the same issues.
