   I have had food spoilage in my refrigerator that was not normal. Milk that spoiled only after 3 days of purchase and 12 days before use before date. The refrigerator digital display was off temp by 10 degrees. A set point of 34 degrees. Display reported 36 degrees but the actual temp was 44 degrees. I am an electronics engineer and fixed the fridge my self. The fresh food side of the side by side was nearly 10 degrees off of the real temperature reported as the actual temperature. This is a known problem by GE and nothing is being done about it. Not so much as a recall or service bulletin. But was quietly swept under the rug by GE. Food born illness can be deadly especially for someone like myself who has ILD, MDS, and TBD(Telomere Biology Disorder). This refrigerator malfunction is the result of an unreported manufacturing problem with the thermistor that read the temperature in both the freezer and fresh food side. The thermistor shifts its resistance range 10 degrees overseveral years, which causes the fridge not to cool to the proper temp. It is a terrible design. I intend to sue for damages. But the public needs to know of this danger.

   I purchased a new GE refrigerator, model number GSS25GYPJCFS, serial number VZ452665, in June 2025 at Lowe’s for approximately $1,300. On March 22, 2026, the refrigerator began shooting sparks from the bottom and delivered an electric shock when touched. This created an immediate and serious electrical safety hazard, posing risks of fire, electrocution, or further injury. I immediately unplugged the unit and have not used it since. I contacted GE Appliances promptly and a GE-authorized repair technician was dispatched. The technician inspected the refrigerator but reported “no issue” found. I followed up continuously between 3/22/2026 and 3/27/2026 over the phone, especially after not receiving any calls back or follow-ups from GE. My final follow-up with GE occurred on Friday, March 27, 2026, and was told that the matter had been referred to their Safety Department. Despite my explicit statement that I would contact regulators if I received no resolution or timeline by the end of that day, GE provided no further response, no repair, no replacement, and no timeline. Because the unit remained a documented safety hazard and GE failed to provide any meaningful remedy after inspection and escalation, I had no reasonable alternative but to purchase a replacement refrigerator, which arrived on March 28, 2026. I thoroughly documented the defective unit with dated photos and videos (including the model/serial tag and the bottom area where sparks occurred) before arranging responsible disposal in accordance with New York environmental regulations for refrigerant recovery. I am seeking reimbursement (or a comparable replacement/credit) for the cost of the new refrigerator, delivery/installation charges, and any related expenses under the warranty (express and implied), the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, and New York consumer protection laws, including the implied warranty of merchantability. GE’s failure to address a known safety defect in a recently purchased appliance has caused significant inconvenience and expense. Attached are supporting documents: proof of original purchase, GE service report/notes, all communications with GE, photos/videos of the unit, and receipt for the replacement refrigerator. I attempted good-faith resolution with GE prior to filing this complaint.

   Product Description: GE refrigerator, Model Number: GZS22IYNXHFS, Serial Number:FV436752. Purchased new and installed on April 7, 2023. Description of Defect/Issue: This refrigerator has a recurring manufacturing or design defect in the sealed refrigeration system, specifically the compressor serving the freezer compartment. The unit is a major household appliance where the sealed system (compressor, condenser, evaporator, tubing) is expected to last 10-15 years under normal use.

   First failure: On or around December 6, 2024 (approximately 20 months after installation), the freezer stopped cooling/freezing properly due to sealed system/compressor failure. Repair performed: Dec/12/2024, technician onsite and diagnosed the issue and ordered replacement part. 1/6/2025 installed the part. Second failure: The same issue recurred on or around February 27, 2026 (less than 15 months after the first repair, and under 35 months total ownership). Freezer again failed to maintain temperature, rendering the appliance unusable for safe food storage.

   Both failures involve the compressora critical, non-serviceable component of the sealed system. No evidence of misuse, improper installation, power surges, or external damage was found (confirmed by technician diagnosis).

   Impact and Hazard: Each failure caused complete loss of freezer function, leading to food spoilage and waste. Repair costs are extremely high (~$1,000 per incident, including parts and labor for sealed system replacement). GE’s standard 1-year limited warranty on GE brand models does not cover the sealed system beyond year 1, leaving consumers with no recourse for premature failures. This repeated early failure (well before reasonable expected lifespan) poses a potential health/safety risk due to inability to safely store perishable foods, especially in households with infants, elderly, or medical needs.

   Warranty and Manufacturer Response: GE has denied coverage/repair assistance, citing the 1-year warranty limit. This does not address the defect’s premature and recurring nature. Request to CPSC/GE: I strongly request that the CPSC investigate this model (and potentially related GE refrigerator models with similar sealed system designs) for a possible defect warranting a recall or extended warranty program. Many similar complaints exist online about early compressor/sealed system failures in GE refrigerators. I also request reimbursement for the repair costs already incurred (~$1,000 for the first repair; second repair pending/estimated similar). If a recall or goodwill program is initiated, please include coverage for affected owners.

   Caller stated that while removing ice from icemaker and his right ring finger got burnt on the underside which appears to be metal. He stated that he went to the emergency room Northwest medical center where he was treated and released. The manufacturer was contacted, and he was informed that they were unable to assist him. He stated that there is no warning label on the unit. Caller feels that this mechanism should have a plastic housing to protect consumers from these injuries and should be reported.

   (01/2026) July 13th, 2025, date of injury; I sustained a one inch in length by approximately 1/4 inch wide burn/frostbite across the top right ring finger and knuckle while trying to remove dislodged ice from the underside of the ice maker behind the ice cube bin. Because of the pain, redness and eventual swelling I reached out to [REDACTED], my health care provider to seek medical advice. After explaining what had happened to their Triage Nurse, [REDACTED], she directed me to the hospital for medical evaluation and treatment. I followed her advice.

   I went to [REDACTED] Medical Center. They gave me a tetanus shot, re-cleaned my wound, put Bacitracin on it, then bandaged my finger, provided me with a prescription for Bacitracin and strongly advised me to follow up with my Primary Care Provider. They were concerned about possivle infection setting in. I saw my physician on July 17th, subsequently July 28th and then finally August 8th whereas I was discharged for care since the wound was healing well. It took more time since the wound was mostly over the knuckle; of course the finger being more susceptible because of natural movement.

   There are no hazardous warning labels of any type on the inside of the freezing compartment, whether actual labels affixed to the walls, ice making unit, or embossing in the plastic walls of the freezer compartment or on the ice making unit mechanism. It is my belief there should be an underside panel/cover to protect consumers from accidentally touching the underside of the ice making unit since it is dangerously exposed and therefore a hazardous area.

   The GE Model # was incorrectly listed under the Product Details section of the report. The correct Model # is: GSHF6HGD8CBB.

   General Electric’s insurance carrier is handled through a company called Sedgwick out of Lexington, Kentucky. Their final written communication to me was dated November 24th, 2025. They have refused to provide me with any compensation, not even offering to cover my medical expenses, at a minimum.

   Lastly, I’d like you to know after I reached out to your Commission, I sought out possible solutions for the preventing of ice maker back-up/overflow. Online I found a type of sloping shield (which looks like a small winter ski jump) that was designed for GE side-by-side refrigerators, part number WR17X11449 (although the article states it is also offered by General Electric) that prevents ice over flow so ice will not back up underneath the ice maker. In one section General Electric calls the part a “Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Cube Diverter”. I only mention this because their insurance adjuster insinuiated there were no known problems with my refrigerator model.

   (07/13/2026) I was curious if the General Electric / Haier Company has ever responded to the complaint I made with your agency this past December 4th, 2025. Aren’t they compelled to respond to your agency regarding a customer complaint, especially when a complaint has been filed about one of their own products after being injured. Furthermore, I believe their claims representative was not forthright in her communication(s), which was pertaining to a part designed and manufactured by GE to prevent the ice from flowing back underneath the actual ice maker mechanism. That happens when the ice maker keeps producing ice on its own, by not shutting itself off automatically (as it is designed to do) until the ice level drops down in the bin. From what I have been able to find out online, GE actually makes a product that does prevent the ice from traveling back under the ice maker, behind the storage bin.

   There is another question that I am now having second thoughts about in revisiting this right ring finger injury. The Claims Examiner, Mrs. [REDACTED] from a company called Sedgwick Claims Management Services solicited my medical information whereas I was very reluctant in passing along to her. I explained to her, if it were just on the finger injury, I’d have no issue with it whatsoever. Regrettably, I did so only because she was very insistent that I disclose the information and further reiterated that she would be the “only one” that would be “reviewing” my “claim” for a possible settlement. She stated that from the onset and informed me she was the sole decision maker, acting somewhat as though she was the top tier! I only bring the medical information up, because unfortunately the medical center I went to for treatment includes prior medical history that was not germane to the right ring finger injury. Towards the very end of her review, Mrs. [REDACTED] then advised me (this is now months after the fact) my file had to be reviewed by someone else in a different department for a final decision... I was completely surprised by her statement given what she had previously communicated from the onset! Here I gave up my medical privacy on what was to have been her good word. In retrospect, I believe she knowingly deceived me in order to obtain those medical records...

   Lastly, I wanted to let you know when I tried to go above Mrs. [REDACTED] head after the decision had been rendered, not one person ever returned my telephone calls. No e-mails, no letters. Sedgwick completely shut me out. I left messages for the following individuals: [REDACTED], Supervisor at [REDACTED], [REDACTED], Supervisor at [REDACTED] and then finally I believe their Manager, [REDACTED] at (704) 423-1019. I had left two messages for Mr. [REDACTED]. To this date, I have yet to hear anything from anyone else at Sedgwick, even after my Consumer Product Safety Commission complaint.

    The ice bucket assembly in my GE side-by-side refrigerator has broken, resulting in pieces of plastic coming out of the ice dispenser, posing a choking and/or laceration hazard to my family. Large and small chunks of plastic were found in cups before we realized that the plastic piece in the ice bucket had broken and was now being dispensed through the ice dispenser. I have contacted GE and was asked to purchase a replacement part. We can no longer use the ice dispenser due to this part being broken for fear of it breaking further and causing a hazard to my family.

    I filled a coffee mug with ice chips from our refrigerators ice maker to put on the bedside table, and noticed a whitish haze around the inside of the dark colored mug the next morning after pouring out remaining water.     Last night, Friday 13 Sept 2024 my wife opened the refrigerator door and the large shelf that covers the two drawers exploded.

    Shards of glass went everywhere including her hand and arm. This morning she found some in her arm pit.

    Luckily this was not a small child or it would have been their face. This is very worrisome for that fact.

    All food stuff had to be thrown out. Glass was everywhere like shrapnel.

    This was a brand new GE refrigerator purchased Jan 2024.

    GE Refrigerator bought in 2020 with french doors on top and pull out freezer drawers on bottom. Over the last 4 years, 3 of the 4 handles have sheared off when you go to open the doors. They cause you to fall and/or cut your hand. I tried to buy new handles during the pandemic but supply chain issues prevented it. Another handle just sheared off today causing me to fall out of my wheelchair. I contacted GE and was told there is a recall for this exact issue but my appliance model and serial number didn’t qualify. Clearly the issue extends beyond the current recall. Theses handles need to be replaced ASAP. I could have broken a bone or suffered a worse injury by my fall and they know all these handles are defective.

    GE side by side refrigerator with crushed ice dispenser - the ice maker has a plastic piece that crushes the ice. The plastic pieces break and gets into the ice bucket and/or your cup. It looks just like the ice sois very dangerous. It happened to us right after it went out of warranty so we replaced the piece. However, now it has done the same thing. We luckily happened to find the pices by mistake. the biggest problem with this - is there’s not way to turn this off. If someone clicks on the crushed ice button, it could happen to them. I know that many other companies have recalled - GE needs to do as well!

    In the ice maker in my GE fridge, the plastic spiral thing that supposed to keep the ice from sticking broke into pieces. And pieces of the broken plastic were found in my drink. Luckily I was able to spit it out in time, but was worries about my other family members.. Next day, I had a hunch and emptied the ice maker and found that larger pieces were also broken from the spiral. This is how I came to realize where the broken, sharp piece in my tea came from. Very scary as I have two young children!!!!

    We have a GE refrigerator with a bottom freezer that was new on 3/1/2021. It was already the subject of a voluntary recall during 2022 due to the risk that the freezer handle might detach while trying to open the freezer drawer. We took advantage of the in-home repair on 5/4/2022 and thought that all would be well. Today, I pulled on the freezer drawer to put away my groceries and the handle broke off and I crashed into my kitchen island located across from my refrigerator. Luckily I wasn’t hurt, but it could have been bad. I just missed hitting my head on the quartz countertop. Had this happened to my elderly mother-in-law, it would have sent her to the hospital.

    This information is regarding a GE bottom freezer door handle. My wife was pulling on the handle to open the drawer when the handle broke away causing her to fall to the ground , no injury just minor sore back next day. She reattached the door handle that night and went to use freezer door following day when the handle came off again almost striking her in the head area. She finally told me about the incident when i decided to contact GE with no resolution. I know there is a recall in this matter but GE stated that my unit is not under any specific model number they have listed. I know for a fact that my handle issue is exactly the same circumstances that has happen to other people. Its related to the plastic mounting brackets that hold the handle.     Refrigerator freezer door handle bar falls off, while opening / closing the freezer door. It happend multiple times over the year now, the bar handle falls on feet or cause imbalance and has a fall hazard. Service men from bestbuy ( where we purchased) our GE refrigator had replaced the bar handle and screws multiple times but it did not solve problem.     I purchased a new GE Refrigerator from Home Depot and had it delivered to my house and set up. At the end of the set-up process as they were getting ready to leave, one of them was going through their check list and he stated he did it again. The other male responded, what did you forget? He stated that he almost forgot to tell me about draining the water dispenser from the GE Refrigerator and he asked me for a large plastic cup. I gave him the large plastic cup and when he finished dispensing by filing up the cup, the cup contained dark purple liquid which I must discard and continue to dispense the water until there is no more purple liquid in my water. I was also told to discard my first full bucket of ice cubes as there would be purple residue left in the first batch of ice cubes. They went on to tell me how they recently forgot to tell a previous customer that he needed to dispense the purple liquid from the GE Refrigerator as they apparently forgot to tell this person as he drank this purple liquid which landed him in the hospital. They did not know if his kidneys were damaged or if he had possible died. This story scared me so I spent about 30 minutes dispensing my water for the new GE Refrigerator until the purple liquid was gone. I then pour this water for my water dispenser into a pitcher inside my refrigerator to filter the water a second time. I was the last person to have my new GE Refrigerator on that day as they were about 30 minutes late in their arrival time. It was not until the following evening when I was able to dump my first full batch of ice cubes into my sink. The following morning, I witnessed the purple residue left behind from the first batch of melted ice cubes. It was that same evening when I dumped the second full batch of ice cubes into my sink. The following morning, I again witnessed the purple residue left from the melted ice cubes which had more than the previous day. That same night I dumped a third full batch of ice cubes into my sink and the following morning, I again witnessed the purple residue left from the melted ice cubes which had more than the previous day. That afternoon I went back to Home Depot with my pictures showing the purple residue left from the melted ice cubes, but they advised me that I only had 48 hours to return or exchange the new GE Refrigerator, which is clearly stated on the receipt, but I advised them I did not know about this issue until earlier in the same day. Home Depot advised me that I need to contact GE directly to get my issue resolved. Long story made short; I went through four servicers before I was finally able to get someone to come to my house to install a new ice maker on behalf of GE back on June 19, 2023. I had filed a complaint with the [REDACTED] against both Home Depot and GE. They both tried to work together to resolve my issues and once the new GE Ice Maker was installed, this servicer contacted GE and advised them that the Ice Maker was now working fine. GE contacted [REDACTED] advising issue was resolved and complaint closed and GE contact Home Depot advising the same and Home Depot got my complaint closed with the [REDACTED]. The problem is that I just could not snap my fingers and have ice cubes made immediately from my new GE Refrigerator. After several days of doing the exact same process I did with the original GE Ice Maker, I was still seeing the same amount, if not more, of the purple residue left from when the Ice Cubes were melted. I bought this new GE Refrigerator back in February 2023 and I still have not been able to use my ice maker to make ice cubes that I could consume. The really scary thing is that the Ice Cubes look perfectly normal when you look at the Ice Cubes and would not see anything wrong until you allow then to completely melt, which is when I can clearly see the purple residue left behind which I am assuming is harmful since the same stuff coming out of the water dispenser is also harmful when first using a new GE Refrigerator. Going back to the male consumer who drank the purple liquid immediately after he had his new GE Refrigerator which landed him in the hospital, what if he had other family members who also consumed the Ice Cubes from the new GE Refrigerator because I am assuming since he did not get rid of the purple liquid from the water dispenser, then most likely did not discard the first batch of ice cubes which clearly contained purple residue. Did these other family members get sick as well? What about all the previous consumers who have purchased the same GE model refrigerator that I purchased, did they also get sick and are they in fact consuming ice cubes that may contain the purple residue in the ice cubes themselves? Or am I just very unlucky to have purchased the only defective GE Refrigerator that GE manufactured. I don’t believe mine is the only one as what caught my eye when shopping at Home Depot for a GE Refrigerator (My previous GE Refrigerator was purchased from Home Depot and lasted over 15 years) was the sales price as it had been lowered by $601.00 whereas other manufacturers pretty much capped at around $300.00. Did Home Depot know that there was an issue with the model of GE Refrigerator and were trying to get rid of them as quickly as possible by reducing the price by more than double that of other manufacturers? Now I am stuck with a new defective GE Refrigerator in which I can’t consume the ice cubes it makes which is not right. Both GE and Home Depot believe this issue has been resolved because someone advised them that the replacement GE Ice Maker is working fine which is true in the sense that it makes ice cubes, but when these ice cubes are melted, this is when you can witness the purple residue being left behind. How many adults, elderly people, or even children are consuming these ice cubes which contain purple residue? And what type of damage is this purple residue causing to people’s bodies as are they dying a slow death, and would this purple residue even turn up in an autopsy? How long has GE been manufacturing and how many different retailers are selling this model of GE Refrigerator in which the ice maker may be defective like mine? Again, you can’t even tell there is an issue with these ice cubes by looking at them with your eyes as they look perfectly fine and would consume them not knowing that there was anything wrong with them. Again, when the ice cubes are completely melted, then you can witness the purple residue being left behind. I strongly believe GE should provide me with a new GE Refrigerator that is not defective, and I am hoping that you could investigate what I have brought to your attention and to hopefully convince GE to do the right thing which is to provide me with a new GE Refrigerator that is not defective. As for Home Depot, I believe they knowingly sold me a defective GE Refrigerator by reducing the purchase price by $601.00 think I was getting a really good deal when in fact I ended up buying a defective GE Refrigerator and can’t make ice cubes that I would be able to consume in my drinks. I am hoping that the results of your investigation will convince Home Depot to refund me at least 50% of my total purchase price of my GE Refrigerator.

SLATE color, like 25.3 cubic feet. This fridge was bought and presumbly made during the height of the pandemic.

    We bought a fridge mid pandemic. Apparently, GE issued a bulletin on the computer within the fridge. A batch of faulty computer parts were used leading to failure of the entire fridge. We did not know of this and were not alerted to this by GE. We thought we were going crazy. The fridge seemed to keep getting warmer. We dethawed it twice. One child even had food poising as a result of unsafe temperatures. We immediately called a repair tech out the minute we noticed there was a more serious issue. That person told us about the bulletin. $752 repair. Despite publishing a bulletin, GE is not sticking by the product, not issuing refunds. In addition, not informing customers about this could lead to food poising (as in our case) and cause severe health problems, especially for the immunocompromised.

However, given that we have been experiencing the exact same issue since we bought the fridge brand new.

    Product Reported: GE French Door Refrigerator Model GNE29GSKJSS, Serial Number: GM525160 The handle on the bottom door freezer often detaches from the door when I or other family members try to open this freezer. Since one has to pull with some force to get the door open, one loses balance and/or could fall and/or hit themselves with the door handle when it comes free while opening the door. I usually lose my balance and have hit myself with the detached handle a couple of times. I have replaced the handle, only to have it happen again. When I called GE, they said they are sending a repair person free of charge as a one-time courtesy. However, when I spoke to the repair person, she said they were unaware of anything they could do other than replacing the handle using the existing hardware. This incident is similar to that which led to the recall of a different model of GE french door, bottom freezer refrigerator: GFE26JYMKFFS, GFE26JYMNFFS, GNE27EYMKFFS, GNE27EYMNFFS, GNE27JYMKFFS, and GNE27JYMNFFS.     I have a GE Refrigerator, Model Number GFE26JSMSS. The handle on the freezer drawer keeps detaching as I pull open the drawer, causing me to take a few steps backwards. I know that some models have been recalled. Mine is not on the list but it should be. GE’s website pretty much says not to bother them if my model number doesn’t match their list.

    How do we add another model to the recall list?

    I’m a 72-year-old woman. If I fall, I could break a hip, get pneumonia, and die. Sorry, that’s kind of a joke but could be true for someone less fit. I am 72, though. I live alone and, if anything happens, my dogs will eventually chew off my face.

    So far, I have not been injured.

    This has happened to me five or six times over the past few months, and I’ve been hoping the list would be updated.

    GE Appliances with Icemaker P/N: WR30X28682 are unsafe. The ice cube metal molding tray breaks off very small (black-pepper sized) metal shavings onto the outside of the ice when the ice is released from the mold. The metal pieces then dispense with the ice from the icemaker feature into beverages. This is a safety issue where a person can ingest small pieces of metal.

    I am now going to be installing a 4th icemaker in 5 years with the exact same issue. After numerous attempts calling GE and describing the issue, they have not resolved the issue or offered help beyond their 1yr warranty.

    I am respectfully writing to complain about a defective product and request action on my behalf. I am not an attorney, but a highly aggrieved consumer (my wife and I are hereafter referred to collectively as complainant). Following is a sequential narrative of my complaint. Complainant apologizes for unknown information, offering the justification that he did not foresee a need to take detailed notes from the beginning of this debacle.

    1. On, October 17, 2021, for at or about $2297.96, complainant purchased a General Electric brand French door with bottom freezer in stainless steel refrigerator, model number GNE27JYMNFFS, serial number TS302708, from the d.b.a. Home Depot store at 4045 Lawson’s Ridge Drive Madison Alabama 35757, phone number 256-837-6658. The order number was [REDACTED]. 2. On or about November 06, 2021, the said refrigerator was delivered to complainant’s home at [REDACTED], and assembled there. 3. Between the refrigerator delivery date and date of receipt of the April 19, 2022 email advising of the recall, the freezer door handle of said refrigerator became dislocated. 4. On or about April 19, 2022 complainant received an email from Home Depot advising of a recall number 22-117 dated April 14, 2022, website https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2022/GE-Appliances-a-Haier-Company-Recalls-Bottom­Freezer-French-Door-Refrigerators-Due-to-Fall-Hazard involving “six models of GE-brand French Door Refrigerators with bottom freezers in fingerprint resistant stainless steel, which were manufactured from February 2020 through August 2021” ostensibly initiated by the CPSC ([U.S.] Consumer Product Safety Commission), and possibly a Canadian Product Safety Commission. This recall was voluntary and ostensibly put out by GE Appliances, a Haier company (GEA), 5. On an unknown date complainant attempted to reach a representative at telephone hotline (1-888-345-4671) created for arranging repair under the recall. After waiting on hold listening to music for approximately 30 minutes, the complainant was advised by a human operator that the system was down and that no action could be taken at that time to schedule the defective product for repair. 6. On an unknown date complainant went to d.b.a. Home Depot store at 4045 Lawson’s Ridge Drive Madison Alabama 35757, phone number 256-837-6658. The employee in the appliance section there advised that the employee was in a similar or identical situation, and implied that the employee had fixed the situation with super glue. More troubling, the content of the conversation led the complainant to believe that at that time merchandise subject to recall was being sold off the floor. However, complainant did not actually investigate that, and so cannot offer any evidence to prove it. 7. On or about August 04, 2022, complainant for a second time attempted to reach an operator at the telephone hotline created for arranging repair under the recall. At this time the first repair was successfully scheduled. 8. On or about August 08, 2022, representatives of contractor d.b.a. On Tech Smart Services L.L.C. [REDACTED] attempted to repair the freezer door handle the first time at the complainant’s home. 9. Some unknown time after August 08, 2022, the freezer door handle of said refrigerator became dislocated a second time. 10. On an unknown data complainant thinks that by email he contacted On Tech Smart Services L.L.C. [REDACTED], 11. On or about August 22, 2022, OnTech Smart Services L.L.C. [REDACTED] contacted complainant by email advising them to schedule an appointment. 12. On an unknown date complainant again attempted to reach an operator at the telephone hotline created for arranging repair under the recall. At this time the second repair was successfully scheduled. Also, complainant specifically advised the cordial representative that she should advise the repairmen not to attempt the repair if they were unwilling or unable to successfully complete it. 13. On or about September 08, 2022, representatives of contractor d.b.a. On Tech Smart Services L.L.C. [REDACTED] attempted a second time to repair the freezer door handle at the complainant’s home. Complainant’s wife advises complainant that the repairmen advised something like the handles were meant to pop off. 14. Within approximately two weeks after September 08,2022, the freezer door handle of said refrigerator became dislocated a third time. 15. Freezer door handle is currently disattached from the refrigerator, and the complainant has no hopes of getting it successfully repaired by General Electric or its representatives.

    Complainant has not consulted an attorney on this matter and there is no current court action pending, although he is advising that he is simultaneously seeking recourse with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and the office of the Alabama Attorney General, and that he anticipates maximizing General Electric’s loss of reputation for designing and building, minimizing General Electric’s profit from selling electronic appliances, and recouping ill-gotten gains from selling electronic appliances.

    Based on the following allegations: 1. Complainant has been within the period of the preceding narrative medically labeled as a fall risk, 2. Complainant has not attempted to repair the refrigerator himself due to the fact that he is not qualified to do so, doing so might void the warranty, doing so could expose himself, family members, and guests to future potential peril, and/or experts have already unsuccessfully attempted to repair it, 3. Complainant has exhausted reasonable attempts to get the defective product repaired under arrangements ostensibly brokered with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 4. A reasonable customer could not expect a third repair to be any more successful than the first two unsuccessful attempts, 5. General Electric has performed defective design. Such negligence is unacceptable from a company that has had 130 years to perfect its design, production, and customer support methodologies. Complainant states this from an engineering standpoint as a holder of one undergraduate engineering degree and two graduate engineering degrees, and having successfully passed the Alabama Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam around the time he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an Accreditation [REDACTED] certified engineering school. He also is a co-inventor on at least 5 (five) United States patents. General Electric has likely taken active steps to minimize its materials and assembly costs, including locating plants in foreign countries, where safety oversight and regulation situations most likely are much less stringent than those in the United States, 6. This defective design has caused loss of reasonably expected usage for the complainant, 7. According to the recall webpage mentioned earlier, there are possibly up to 155,000 (one hundred fifty-five thousand) customers in a similar situation as the complainant. It strains credulity to believe that this complainant is a statistical outlier in this population,

    complainant requests that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission assists him in obtaining recourse. He maintains that legal penalties for egregious negligence and lack of support by General Electric cannot be evaded by claiming expiration of warranty or agreement to mediate. He also respectfully maintains that his bona fide attempts to follow the CPSC’s available methods for recourse have been entirely ineffective.

    I am writing to complain /advise you of a defect in your refrigerator ice maker.

    I have a Model GZS22DMJJFES, serial number VH423445 which I purchased and had installed on 01/03/2018. Recently I found a clear piece of plastic in sink and I was unable to even hypothesize about where the plastic had originated from. About a week later I observed a similar piece of plastic in a glass of water after the ice had melted. At this time I realized that the plastic pieces must be broken parts of the screw device in the ice bin/dispenser. I consider this dangerous as I sometimes chew and possibly swallow ice. I am being more careful with my iced drinks now. See the photo below.

    I have replaced the screw dispenser in a previous GE refrigerator but I looked for a replacement on line and it appears that the screw and the ice bin are sold as a combined unit for several hundred dollars. I assume my refrigerator is out of warranty, but I am hoping that you would replace the broken unit.

    The handle to our freezer comes off when pulled on. It happens on a regular basis and even my 19 month old daughter was able to pull it off. When the handle came off each time we were just trying to pull it open. This is unacceptable. The first time it happened was a week after the item was delivered. It happens Atleast once a week. This is a huge safety hazard and if not fixed I will not by another GE product.     The freezer handle on our new fridge/freezer unit comes off when pulling the door open. This has occurred to a few of our guests, as well as to our 3 year old daughter. When our adult guests pulled on the freezer drawer door, the handle came off into their hand, but no injury or accident occurred. When my 3 year old daughter pulled on the handle, it came off as well, but the momentum sent her tumbling backwards and the handle flew behind her about 8 feet. She landed on her back, causing distress and fear. No substantial injury has occurred yet, but I anticipate that it will eventually. We received notice from GE that our unit may be part of a recall (#[REDACTED]) for this exact same reason.     We have a GE refrigerator that the freezer door handle falls off all the time. It is just like the recalled ones but the number has a 28 in it so it is not covered. The model number is GFE 28 G YNBFS. We bought this in April 2020 and the handle has been falling off since we got it. This seems to be a major problem with GE bottom freezers that were bought in that time range but they are only recalling certain models But it is a safety hazard because the handle will fall off randomly. We have tried to install it multiple times. The only way to open our freezer is to grab the outside edges of the freezer door and not use the handle. We have had to handle replaced one time by GE but it continues to fall off all the time.

    The product, in the report: There is a current recall on GE French Door Bottom Freezer Refrigerators for the handle falling off and people falling. My refrigerator which is a Model GWE19JGLBB installed 10/22/2020 has the exact same defect and is not included in the recall. The handle has pulled off multiple times, the first time I fell back into the stove. It is only popped on with a weak plastic fastener designed to fail. This was acknowledged by a service technician who came under warranty for an unrelated issue to be a ridiculous design. He had GE send me replacement plastic clips which are just as weak as the originals. We have since resigned ourselves to opening the bottom freezer by grabbing the sides of the drawer and not using the handle. A friend getting some ice unknowingly used the handle and it popped off again and they banged into the stove opposite the refrigerator. If GE has a legitimate fix for this I feel my model number should be included.

    Handle of freezer (model GNE27JYMNFFS) repeatedly detached, the last time falling onto my right foot at the base of my toes. I immediately iced my foot to reduce the swelling but the dark bruise lasted about 10 days. There is a noticeable lump under the skin, and continued pain now extending across the top of my foot towards the outside arch. Extreme sensitivity to touch, impossible to wear anything but light sandals.
