The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Mr. Coffee Steam Espresso/Cappuccino Maker Model ECM160

We put water in the reservoir, started the brew, switched to steam the milk, but then when we switched back to brew, the filter holder and filter exploded off the coffee maker. It shattered the carafe and sprayed hot water and grounds across our kitchen. The filter holder was on tight so we do not know how it could have exploded off the coffee maker.

The product, in the report: Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffeemakers 4 Cup

Started my morning pot of coffee, went downstairs to get the newspaper. When I came back into the house there was a bad smell of something burning , went back inside the Kitchen and saw the Mr.Coffee Maker (Model:DRX5) (Date Code:D6 XO21) billowing smoke from the bottom of the maker, I unpluged the maker and it continued to smolder for a short time after. I have owned this maker for a few years and have had no problems with it until today. I just wanted to let you know what had happened.

The product, in the report: Mr Coffee 10cup Optimal Brew Thermal Coffeemaker

We had purchased this coffee maker when my husband started his job and they made coffee at the office so we did not use coffee maker when we first purchased it. When we first made coffee it had a strong odor to it and I thought maybe it was the filter. Then I looked behind it and water was all over the counter, VERY UNSAFE AS THE UNIT WAS STILL ON. So I was cleaning this up and turned over the coffee maker and all this white film came out of the water reservior. I was thankful I was right there when coffee was finished making so I could unplug unit and clean up all the mess!

The product, in the report: Mr Coffee 4-cup electric Coffeemaker, Model DRX5

I have a Mr. Coffee electric 4-cup Coffeemaker (model DRX5) which was purchased in November 2009. I have used it alost daily since. It has developed a dangerous problem. The plastic cover over the coffee basket and water well does not seal to prevent steam from escaping around this cover. The steam generated in the brewing process appears to expand the plastic cover and causes it to pop open to release superheated steam. The steam has burned the face and hands of the user. I have called Mr. Coffee but was advised that this unit is not in warranty. That is not an acceptable response. This is a dangerous product that should be recalled and replaced or the purchase price refunded.
