Product Information: Manufacturer: Frigidaire / Electrolux Model Number: FFCD2413US8BAge of Product: 4 Months Old (Installed in a newly constructed Smith Douglas home)Service Ticket Number: [REDACTED] Description of Hazard: During a standard washing cycle, the dishwasher’s internal spray arm detached from its assembly and fell directly onto the exposed electrical heating element at the bottom of the tub. The plastic spray arm immediately melted, fusing tightly onto the heating element and the bottom liner of the appliance. This failure caused an immediate toxic smoke hazard, filling the kitchen and home with heavy plastic fumes, and presenting an active structural fire risk. An authorized manufacturer technician ([REDACTED]) inspected the unit and explicitly deemed it unrepairable due to the extensive thermal damage and fused plastic pieces attached permanently to the bottom of the machine. The manufacturer has been notified via service ticket [REDACTED] but has failed to remediate this safety hazard or issue a product buyout after more than two weeks. Because this represents a severe manufacturing or design defect where a component can detach mid-wash and make direct contact with a high-heat element, this model poses an unmitigated fire and smoke hazard to consumers.

No one hurt Made Aug 25, 2026, sent to the company Aug 31, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 15, 2026
The product, in the report: Dishwasher
I am reporting a serious safety incident involving a Frigidaire dishwasher manufactured by Electrolux.
Product: Frigidaire dishwasher Model: GDPH4515AF1B Serial Number: TH40854869
The dishwasher heating element overheated and/or deformed during operation. The excessive heat melted a hole through the dishwasher tub. The heating element then electrically shorted and caused wiring to burn.
This failure created a potential fire, electrical shock, and property-damage hazard. The dishwasher has been removed from service and will not be operated again.
I am also aware of Electrolux Technical Tip DWTT2512, dated February 10, 2025, which identifies the GDPH4515AF model family, all serial numbers, and describes the condition as Melted spray arm, deformed heater, and/or tub damage.
My dishwasher experienced tub damage associated with the heating-element area, but the failure progressed further and resulted in an electrical short and burned wiring.
While purchasing a replacement dishwasher, I also spoke with another consumer who stated that they had experienced essentially the same type of dishwasher failure very recently. I do not know whether their dishwasher was the identical model, so I am reporting only the failure that occurred to my own unit as a confirmed incident.
I have photographs showing the model and serial-number label and can provide additional photographs of the melted tub, damaged heating element area, and burned wiring.
I am requesting that CPSC review this incident for a possible recurring heating-element, electrical, or fire hazard involving this dishwasher model family.

The product, in the report: Built-in under-counter dishwasher, stainless steel front, standard 24-inch width. Frigidaire Professional series. Electronic touch controls located on the top edge of the door. Stainless steel interior tub with a lower heating element at the base of the tub used for water heating and drying. Approximately 15 years old, purchased around 2010. The dishwasher malfunctioned with the heating element running continuously and failing to shut off, causing internal plastic parts and dishes to melt and overheating the surrounding
My Frigidaire Professional built-in dishwasher, Model No. FPHD2491KF0, Serial No. KH00301870, manufactured by Electrolux Home Products, malfunctioned and overheated. The heating element ran continuously and did not shut off through the normal cycle controls. The dishwasher was loaded normally with glasses, ceramic plates, metal utensils, and plastic bowls, and started on the Normal wash cycle for routine household dishwashing. Sometime after the cycle should have ended, the unit became stuck with the heating element running continuously. It continued heating for an estimated 1 to 4 hours. I discovered the malfunction when I smelled a strong melting and burning plastic odor. Upon opening the dishwasher, I found that plastic items inside had melted. A clear plastic cup melted and collapsed completely, plastic bowls warped and deformed, and internal dishwasher plastic parts including the filter assembly showed heat damage. The countertop directly above the dishwasher was too hot to touch. The heating element itself shows heat-tint discoloration and oxidation along its length, consistent with overheating. No injuries occurred during the malfunction itself. Afterward, while inspecting the unit with the controls off, I touched the heating element believing it had cooled and received a minor first-degree burn to two fingers, treated with cool water. This indicated the element was still dangerously hot or possibly still energized. I was unable to identify a labeled circuit breaker for the dishwasher and shut off the main house breaker to fully de-energize the unit. This was a serious fire and burn hazard. Had the malfunction gone undiscovered longer, or occurred while no one was home, I believe it could have caused a fire in the surrounding cabinetry and countertop. This appears to match a known failure pattern for Frigidaire and Electrolux dishwashers of this type, in which the heating element continues running and does not shut off, melting internal components and dishes and overheating adjacent surfaces.

The product, in the report: Built-in under-counter residential dishwasher. Standard 24-inch kitchen appliance footprint. Features electronic touch controls located on the front/top exterior plastic console fascia where a severe localized thermal failure occurred.
During a normal wash cycle, this 4-year-old Frigidaire Gallery dishwasher suffered a catastrophic electrical failure and a thermal event at the user interface control board inside the door. The heat generated was intense enough to completely melt internal plastic components and burn a hole entirely through the exterior control console, releasing smoke into the kitchen. No injuries occurred, but the localized melting creates a serious safety concern. The appliance is completely inoperable and currently remains installed in the kitchen.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Dishwasher , chrome n black
While using the dishwasher, I discovered that the heating element had melted through the plastic lower tub from the inside. This created a burn mark and a small hole that allowed water to leak onto the floor. The damage appears to have been caused by the heating element overheating or sitting too close to the plastic tub. This is a serious safety concern because the heating element reached temperatures high enough to melt the tub, which could potentially lead to electrical hazards, fire risk, or further structural damage. I immediately stopped using the appliance once I realized the source of the leak. Hazard: The heating element melting through the plastic tub presents a fire hazard, burn hazard, and waterrelated electrical hazard. The failure occurred during normal use.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire household stainless dishwasher.
Frigidaire dishwasher model # ffcd2413us5a has a design flaw in which the main 120V input wire is secured by a plastic wire nut, which contacts hot metal on the bottom of the washer and melts, causing the wire to short to the frame of the dishwasher. This just happened to mine and upon searching I found the same problem reported multiple times as far back as 2 years ago.

The product, in the report: Electrrolux Frigidaire Dishwasher, Serial No. KH9290969, Model FGID2479SF. I had it only 427 days!
On the morning of 10/18/24, I thought my daughter was toasting something, and I smelled burning. My dishwasher was running. I asked my daughter to move the toaster and she stated, “Mom, I am not cooking anything.” We saw a lot of smoke filling my kitchen. We did not know it was the dishwasher at first. We started opening doors/windows, and put our pets in crates, getting ready to exit the house. I called 911. My son grabbed a fire extinguisher, opened the dishwasher and sprayed it. The fire dept. came about 8 minutes later and removed the smelly appliance from my kitchen and put it outside.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire brand dishwasher manufactured by Electrolux Home Products, Inc., Charlotte, North Carolina 28262. Our Frigidaire dishwasher’s Serial # is: TH30978187. The Model # is: FFID2426TS6A.
My husband and I bought a brand newly built house in June 2023 that came with a new Frigidaire dishwasher. [Product identification tag shows manufacturer as Electrolux Home Products, Inc., Charlotte, NC 28262; Serial # TH30978187; Model # FFID2426TS6A]. We began using the new dishwasher starting at the end of August 2023 when we moved into the house. We regularly smelled an odor of burning plastic when using the dishwasher but could never identify the root cause, which was not evident. In the past 7 to 10 or 12 days, the dishwasher began leaking from the base of it when operating. We tried to troubleshoot and were unable to determine the cause. Today, our home’s builder came out to help troubleshoot the dishwasher. He found that water was leaking from the dishwasher when it was operating, and observed water falling on the floor (after the dishwasher’s front low kick plate was removed). After further testing, the builder and I noticed that one section of the heating element inside the dishwasher at the base of the appliance, was touching and in direct contact with the dishwasher’s interior plastic in one section, had melted the plastic, and the heating element was fused to the plastic. This is a very dangerous condition and could have caused a fire. As it is, the leaking water from the dishwasher, has caused water damage to a section of our new home’s hardwood floors, causing a section of the floor to swell up, lift, and separate from other boards. With our Builder, we cut off the power to the dishwasher and the water supply line and have stopped using the dishwasher effective today and henceforth. This Frigidaire brand dishwasher manufactured by Electrolux Home Products, is a danger anywhere it has been sold. My husband did a [REDACTED] search today after we discovered this issue, and found that Electrolux was sued under a class action in U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina on or around November 15, 2012 by lead Plaintiffs [REDACTED] and that, “...Electrolux designed, manufactured, and marketed dishwashers...that contain a serious and dangerous defect, putting many of its customers in harm’s way.” As consumers with no prior knowledge, ownership or use of a Frigidaire dishwasher prior to purchasing this new house in June 2023, we are shocked that there is prior legal precedent about dangerous Electrolux dishwashers from 12 years ago.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
The consumer indicates that she turned her dishwasher on and, fifteen minutes later when she went into the kitchen, realized that her floor was covered in water. The consumer turned off and unplugged the unit. The following day, the consumer’s son and husband looked behind it to see if there were any leaking hoses and there were none. The consumer’s son looked inside the unit, removed its rack, and saw that the heating element was burnt.
The consumer contacted the Manufacturer and explained the situation; the representative she spoke to informed her that because the unit is no longer under warranty nor is it recalled that they could not assist her free of charge.
The consumer states that the unit is used four to five times weekly.
The consumer plans on keeping her dishwasher for at least the next thirty days in case an investigation ensues.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire 24 in. Built-In Top Control Tall Tub Dishwasher in Black, ENERGY STAR, 54 dBA Model # FFID2426TB
We purchased a Frigidaire Dishwasher Dec 19, 2021. We had issues for the past 3 years with the heating element melting the bottom spray arm, and also the control panel got hot enough to melt the plastic button area on the top of the door. Yesterday (April 5, 2024) water started pouring out from under the front of the dishwasher and going up under our wood flooring that is in front of dishwasher. We called a repairman who visited this morning (April 6, 2024) he removed kickplate and found that the heating element had burned a hole in the plastic tub of the dishwasher. This dishwasher is a FIRE HAZARD! I looked online to search for recalls for this particular dishwasher and found thousands of people have made the manufacturer aware of fire hazards with this brand of dishwasher, several different models are having fires, electrical issues, & heating element over heating issues. It NEEDS to be removed from production! It does not need to be sold to people as it puts their families at risk! HomeDepot will not replace the dishwasher, or our flooring, because our protection plan has expired. I tried to contact HD & Frigidaire but HD said our protection plan is expired. Because our email to confirm order has wrong date year on it. Frigidaire is closed until Monday. I will be contacting Frigidaire Monday April 8, 2024 to discuss this issue with them.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire in-wall dishwasher model # FFID2426TS2A
My Frigidaire dishwasher model # FFID2426TS2A was being used by my wife and me as per the manufacturer’s instructions. The product appears to have had a malfunction such that the heating element turns on and remains on in perpetuity even if a load has not been run. Fortunately this was discovered when I reached into the unit to grab a ceramic dish approximately 8 hours after the unit had last been run. This has led to minor burns due to a hot ceramic bowl in the unit; however, the more concerning risk is that of a fire in my home. There was no warning or sign from the unit that a problem had occurred which may lead to serious risk to other consumers.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Dishwasher
On December 31, 2012, I purchased a Frigidaire Dishwasher Model #FFBD2407LS0A under Serial #TH02276790. On December 19, 2022, the dishwasher started to leak, sparking fumes and an electrical fire and this dangerous model needs to be removed from the market. On December 20, 2022, I contracted with a plumber for a diagnosis of the unit. It was determined that the cause of failure is due to the dishwasher tub has become physically damaged due to the heating element falling onto the unit causing failures with the control board and water pump and will all require replacement. When I contacted Frigidaire/ElectroLux on December 22, 2022 to make them aware of this, I was informed that since the product is no longer under warranty, that there was nothing that they could do to replace the unit. They also refused to retrieve the unit for a complete evaluation and diagnosis.

My dishwasher’s heating element has melted the bottom of the plastic interior. This dishwasher is only 2 1/2 years old. The element and brackets do not appear to be damaged in any way and I am very lucky I happened to notice. If it had burned all the way through it could have caused a flood or fire in my house. The manufacturer gave me the runaround and I was unable to even speak with someone who would listen to my safety concerns.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire dishwasher model FFBD1831US0A
I purchased a Frigidaire dishwasher model FFBD1831US0A, serial number KH10901741 on-line on July 29 from Home Depot. I received the item on or about August 14. Upon installation I ran the dishwasher to confirm it did operate. I used the dishwasher one time after that. I noticed that the dishes came out wet but thought perhaps I had selected the wrong cycle as there is no easy way to see the cycles without a flashlight.
Since we are a household of 2, I usually wash my dishes by hand. The purchase and installation of the dishwasher was for the sale of my home. During the inspection of the home the inspector informed me that the dishwasher actually cooled the water going into it from 126-degrees to 109 degrees and the drying cycle only heated to 107-degrees and suppose to be 350-degrees for sanitation purposes. The buyer wants proof that the dishwasher will be functioning as it should before closing. However, Home Depot and Frigidaire have failed to contact me after my initial call about the issue as per manufacturer warranty. It appears I will lose this sale due to a dishwasher!!!
Given this issue, I think it is highly likely that this dishwasher may not be the only one with this problem. Given the world of Covid, folks may think that their dishes are clean when indeed that may not be the case.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire FFBD2411NS6B dishwasher, stainless steel.
A frigidaire Model FFBD2411NS6B dishwasher was being used. It was opened after completing a cycle and had a smell of burned plastic and deformation of some of the plastic components of the interior. It was run on a low heat setting. The high temperature thermostat sensor was found to be dead and the dishwasher lacks a thermal fuse or any way to tell it has heated up too much. We cannot run it and have it unplugged as using it again might result in a fire if it overheats enough.

Not said Made Jun 19, 2021, sent to the company Jun 23, 2021, published by CPSC Jul 8, 2021
The product, in the report: Frigidaire 24’’ Built-In Dishwasher FFCD2413US1A, stainless steel cover on door, Width: 24”, Depth: 25”, Minimum Height: 33 1/2”, Maximum Height: 35”; I do not have a UPC code, date manufactured, or manufacturer date code.
My dishwasher (Frigidaire FFCD2413US) was running and at the point in the cycle where it should have been about to drain all the water out of the bottom and start the drying stage, it made 3 very loud thunking sounds (each about 1 second apart). I was concerned, so I opened the dishwasher door to see if there was something obviously wrong, like a moving part caught by a utensil. But nothing appeared to be wrong. After that, I could not get the dishwasher to turn back on. I pressed several buttons, but no lights came on, and nothing worked. I unplugged the dishwasher and plugged it back in and that did nothing. Then I realized the garbage disposal, which was plugged into the same outlet also wasn’t working. I tried the reset buttons on all nearby electrical outlets and that didn’t seem to help. I got an extension cord and plugged the dishwasher into a different outlet and that didn’t help either. So I went to the electrical panel in the basement and saw that the breakers for the dishwasher’s outlet needed to be flipped back, so I did that. Then I came back up and the dishwasher had turned back on, all of its lights on the panel were on, there was another thunk, and it started smoking. I opened the door right away and black smoke came out of the small narrow horizontal opening along the top of the inside of the door. I videotaped it, but it is very hard to see the smoke on the video. (I tried to upload the video but it said it was too large even though it was 81 MB [under 100 MB limit]). There was also a very strong smell of burnt electronics that started at the same time as the smoke. We replaced our previous dishwasher with this one on 4-16-2019 and it has worked normally since then. I have never put vinegar into it (like I did with the last dishwasher) and have only used it normally. This time that I ran it, it was only about half full. Nothing was caught. Nothing had fallen on the bottom. There is no obvious explanation for what caused the odd sounds, the smoke, or the smell. This is a 2-year-old dishwasher that has not been used in any unusual way. We never overfill it and we just run it like normal, with regular detergent ([REDACTED]) and 99% of the time I use the 1-hour cycle with the heat drying selected. It is necessary to use the heat drying on this dishwasher because the dishes will be completely wet at the end of the cycle without it. No injuries happened. If I hadn’t been here when this happened and opened the door when it started smoking, a fire might have started.

My 4-year-old Frigidaire dishwasher shot out 2-foot bolts of electricity when I went to close the door after unloading the machine. I then smelled burning wires, so I called the fire dept. They came out and disconnected the machine, explaining that the control panel had shorted out and melted. I was using the dishwasher in the usual way. The fire chief said I was very lucky not to have been electrocuted. I am an adult and there are no children or other adults in the home. I want to say that this machine came with the home that I purchased in July of 2017. I was told it was new, but I see a date of 2013 on the user’s manual.

As we were standing near the dishwasher, we hear an unusual noise. We turned it off. We observed water coming up from under our wood flooring near the dishwasher. My spouse observed water coming from the dishwasher and we removed all the water we could from the dishwasher and the floor. We removed the dishwasher from its area and found a burned area on the bottom of the plastic tub caused by the heating element. There was plastic drippings and soot on the floor under this and could of started a fire if we hadn’t acted so fast. I have left a message for frigidaire on 8/18/20 for not able to get a live person on their customer service line. Left a message on their [REDACTED] page for that is the ONLY way I have found to send a message to them. No response back but it has been read. We had a warranty with this product but it has expired. The product, in the report: Dishwasher Frigidaire Stainless steel front Plastic tub
I have a Frigidaire dishwasher, model FGBD2438PF7A, that the heating element severely warped, melted the lower spray arm assembly, and melted a 4” hole thru the bottom of the plastic tub. The hole was about an inch from the safety limit switch mounted on the bottom of the tub and the safety limit switch did not trip and disable the dishwasher. The dishwasher was able to start again after clean dishes were removed and dirty dishes were loaded to wash. Within seconds of the unit filling with water the water poured from the melted hole in the plastic tub and ran all over the floor alerting me to a problem. I strongly suspect the tub melted during a drying cycle when no one was home as no one in the household smelled anything burning at any point and there was no water on the floor prior to the night the water poured from the melted hole.

Frigidaire Gallery Dishwasher Model Number: GLDB953CS0 Serial Number: TH32693740
Unknown date of purchase, but appears to be original to the house built around 2005/2006.
The product began smoking with a strong smell of burning plastic. The unit was not running any cycle at the time and had not run one for about 12 hours at the time of the incident. Removing the front panel there is a spot of black charred plastic (approximately 1”x1.5”) on the front of the control box cover (made of plastic) there is also black scorch marks at the top vent of the control unit box.
The 4 hour delay indicator button was flashing a green light, but all control buttons were non-responsive.
Power was removed from the unit and the smoking stopped.
The product will not be repaired due to its age and potential other damage.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery Dishwasher
On June 1, 2019 about 30 minutes into the dishwasher cycle I noticed that there was a leak and a pool of water on the kitchen floor. Upon investigation I observed that the heating element warped down and contacted the bottom of the machine burning a hole all the way through it. The heating element contacting the dishwasher and potentially the floor is a fire hazard that could cause significant damage, burn down the entire house, as well as injure or kill my family. In addition to the severe fire hazard, the leak was dripping down the electrical cords and created an electrical shock hazard. This is unacceptable as my small children could have been electrocuted and died because of this defective machine. The safety hazard from this defect must be addressed to safeguard people and property.
I contacted [REDACTED] with the above info and a request to safeguard families from this danger and she responded by phone on June 17, 2019. Her response was to deny that it was a manufacturer defect and blame it on me stating the the heating element was warped from repeated pressure / pressing on it. She did not know how much pressure or how many times someone would have to press on the element to cause it to warp. To the best of my knowledge no one has ever pressed on the heating element and it would be difficult to put pressure on the element based on the design. The lack of company responsibility concerns me and forced me to escalate this to safeguard others.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire dishwasher stainless steel.
On the date of 04/22/2019, we purchased a dishwasher from Lowes. The dishwasher we bought was a Frigidaire. We took it back to our office, and went home for the day. The next morning when I arrived to work, I proceeded to install the dishwasher. Once the dishwasher was installed we performed the wet-test and every thing was good. Once the dishwasher was running for approximately 1 hour, one of my employees came in and said the dishwasher was “on fire”. I went into our break room, and sure enough smoke was coming from the tub vents. I opened the dishwasher and found that the lower spray bar was laying on the heating element and melted. It appears as if the orbital arm on this unit was not properly attached to the spray bar arm. Lowes returned the product for another unit, from a different manufacture.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Dishwasher Model# LFID2426TF
Frigidaire Dishwasher, Model# LFID2426TF causes injury to fingers. Purchased on 7/25/18. Complaint launched with Electrolux 11/7/18 I’m launching this complaint to express my dissatisfaction with this model dishwasher. Although particularly pleased with its cleaning ability, my disappointment comes from the unit causing cuts to my hands while opening and closing the door. Photos have been provided via email to the frigidaire customer service dept. The photos show the black plastic edging just below the handle, along the top of the washer. The bottom of this edging is as sharp as a razor. While opening or closing the door, upon releasing the handle, the top of my hand brushes against the bottom of the edging causing cuts to the back of my fingers. This has happened to me on several occasions as well as members of my family, including a child. Emails back and forth with Frigidaire resulted in 2 service visits from their appliance representative which failed to resolve the issue. His attempt was made to replace the edging with the same razor sharp edging being removed. His frustration as well as my own was evident at the completion of that visit. 1/11/19, Due to Electrolux’s slowness with response and inability to correct issue, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau Electrolux technicians again came out and repeated the same service. The problem remains and the BBB case was closed. RE: BBB Case Number: [REDACTED] Date Received: 01/08/2019 Electrolux Reference Number: [REDACTED] Model Number: LFID2426TF Serial Number: TH82401538 Date of Purchase: 07/25/2018 UPDATE: 1/18/19 Email exchanges alerting Electrolux that the problem still exists have proven unsuccessful. They’ve responded by telling me my concerns are heard and the problem on file, however no further action to correct the issue has taken place. The above is unacceptable from Electrolux as my family continues to add cuts to their hands. I feel they are stonewalling until the warranty ends. I would like this issue resolved, preferably by having Electrolux pick up their appliance and issuing me a full refund for the purchase price. Any assistance provided by your office would be immensely appreciated. [REDACTED]

Re: Frigidaire dishwasher model # FGBD2438PB3A purchased 11/4/15. This past week, we discovered the heating element had burned a hole in the bottom of the dishwasher and water was running through the floor into the basement. Similar issues with other dishwashers as noted in on-line reports have resulted in fires for other consumers. Item was no longer under warranty but caused damage to our home and presented a potential fire hazard.

Our dishwasher was being used as normal in the kitchen. It started leaking water from underneath. Upon inspection, I noticed that the heating element had sagged down into the tub and melted a hole through the plastic to the outside. It was not designed with enough support to prevent this. I reported it to the company and they offered a 30% discount on parts. It could have burned my house down. I am not the first person to report this and they have done nothing to protect their customers that own this fire hazard.

She was informed when she moved in that the appliances were three years old The caller has not contacted the manufacturer, however she does intend to contact them.

My kitchen flooded. We realized the water was coming from my dishwasher inside my island. A hole burned through the inside of my dishwasher under the heating element, and burned a hole right through the outside base as well. It couldn’t caused a fire if I wasn’t home and noticed all the water accumulating on my floor. It must have been doing that for a while because I have water damage inside my island and floor. I called Frigidaire and was told there was no recalls on the product, and only offered half off buying a new base. I tried explaining to her that I believe it was the heating element that caused the hole through my dishwasher. I was told there was nothing she could do about replacing their product .

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Dishwasher approximately two (2) years old.
Approximately 9 pm, on October 23rd, we noticed a burning smell coming from the kitchen. We quickly went to see what was potentially on fire. After going into the kitchen, we could see light smoke coming from around the dishwasher. We turned it off, and opened the door. Upon inspection, the heating element inside of the dishwasher had apparently overheated and warped down touching and burning the plastic tub. Their was still some water present in the on the surface of the tub. Had there not been, by the look of the plastic, it could have ignited the plastic tub risking the loss of our property and potential life. After a brief search online, It appears that this is a known problem with similar models. After Inspecting the product, and for consumer safety and protection, it needs to be reviewed and recalled. The potential risk to property and life merits a review of this product and the dangers associated with it. I have notified the manufacture of this risk, and will document my reporting this incident.

The product, in the report: Fridgidair Gallery Stainless Steel Dishwasher with black plastic control panel. Date of Manufacturing I am unable to find on the serial and model number info or by searching on appliance websites they state it could have been manufactured August 1995,2005 or 2015.
We purchased a new home with appliances made by Fridgedair purchased by our Builder Fortress Homes. At about one year after moving into our new home, I woke early in the morning and while letting while feeding my cats in the basment I noticed huge puddles and flooding under our kitchen floor above the basement. I thought a pipe had burst but after pulling away the insulation and inspecting the subfloor in the basement I see the water is coming out in between the floor boards from our kitchen not from pipes. I immediately place buckets under each leak and run upstairs to find where it originated. We run our dishwasher around 9pm every evening and during one of the cycles the heating element on our Fridgedair Gallery dishwasher Serial Number:TH53284409 Model #:FGBD2438PF7A had warped and had melted a huge whole in the bottom of the plastic tub. As there were no clamps in that area installed by the manufacturer the heating element was able to come into contact with the tub bottom thus burning a hole and flooding our wooded kitchen floor and basement. We had to purchase dehumidifiers, floor fans, and microbial spray to prevent mold growth. We had to purchase a new dishwasher even though this one is only a year old. If this had continued to be on our kitchen could have caught on fire as the element was hot enough and close enough to the electrical box on the bottom of the appliance to have burned our house down while we slept. I have read there are class action lawsuits in Illinois against [REDACTED] and Fridgedair and cannot believe this dishwasher is still be manufactured and sold to consumers who could be in danger or out of major expenses because of negligence on the Electrolux and Fridgedairs part. Someone needs to hold these people accountable and they need to reimburse the consumers for damages and appliances.

I have a Frigidaire dishwasher which has a heating element that has melted a hole in the bottom of the inside area. We had been noticing a hot plastic or electrical smell for a couple of weeks, but couldn’t locate the issue and thought that it might be just the water heating up in the washer. A couple of days ago I noticed a stream of water coming out from under the dishwasher. When the washer had finished its’ cycle I opened it up, pulled out the bottom rack and noticed that the heating element was warped, downwards and had melted a hole in the bottom of the plastic housing.

Dishwasher is approximately 2 years old. It runs an average of 3 - 4 times per week. I normally run the dishwasher on a cycle which heats the water. The dishwasher was leaking and when I looked for the problem I found that the heating element warped enough to deform the clips that were holding it up from the bottom of the plastic tub. The warped element was in contact with the bottom of the plastic tub long enough to burn through and cause the water to leak out.

I purchased a new Frigidaire diashwasher in June, 2017 Model Number FRIGID2466QW. In July, I was loading the dishwasher and turned to reach for something and my shin hit the corner of the dishwasher while it was down and the dishwahser had exposed sharp metal which sliced my shin open. There should not be exposed sharp metal like that. This design is defective as the metal should be covered with something or not be as sharp. I have had to see multiple doctors and have bandages changed daily as I am on a blood thinner. It will take months to heal according to the doctors and I may need surgery to flush the wound. The appliance company did not come out and file the metal down and put a plastic piece on top.

The heating element in my Frigidare dishwasher Model FGBD2438PF4A burned a hole in the (plastic) bottom-side of the pan. The product, in the report: Dishwasher frigidaire
Frigidaire dishwasher Model # FGBD2445NQ SN# TH22087651 Noticed water leaking in basement below the dishwasher. Pulled the dishwasher out and started a wash cycle to find the leak. Water was coming out near the bottom of the tub on the left side, when facing the dishwasher, and the tub was deformed. Took the lower rack out of the dishwasher and saw that the heating element was warped and touching the plastic tub and had burned a hole in it, causing the water leak. Also the sprayer arm was caught on the heating element and was melted, there was melted plastic hanging down from the sprayer arm. Called Frigidaire and was told there was nothing they could do. I really believe this could be a possible fire hazard. I did take photos of the dishwasher. The unit was purchased new and delivered on 06-08-2012. My name is [REDACTED], Phone # [REDACTED]. My dishwasher developed a leak. What I have discovered is that there is a hole in the tub. The hole was burned and melted through the tub because the heating element is not properly supported by the support brackets and the heating element has warped and touches the tub. I only use the dishwasher about twice a week. I am concerned that this issue could be a fire hazard.

Was running the dishwasher, it started to smell like it was burning. I opened it up, and the element was hissing and popping. There was a class action lawsuit against the manufacturer of this dishwasher for faulty control panels that caused the heating element to overheat and catch the dishwasher on fire, or at least melt the inside, yet I don’t see any recall on the product.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery series dishwasher
Dishwasher was running on Heavy Wash cycle when my wife noticed me of a bad smell coming from the dishwasher. The controls were all still lit and functional. I checked the heating element expecting some plastic dish ware was melting on the element, but found nothing and noticed the smell was in the door, not the wash basin. I pressed cancel and the dishwasher cycled through the drain process and shut off. Upon disassembling the control panel, I found the two wiring (110V hot and neutral) connectors to the door switch had melted and charred. All wires and connections looked and felt secure in the spade terminals. It appears to me that the door switch failed, shorting out and burning the switch, connectors and wiring. It surprised me that the most used switch on the unit would have such a large electrical load run through it... This switch should be controlling a relay to handle the load, not the load itself. It is a poor, and dangerous design.

The dishwasher’s heating element got so hot it actually burned a hole into the bottom of the machine. I thankfully was home and noticed water on the floor and turned it off but was reading online that they company has known about this issue for 6 years and done nothing about it. Other people have had fires due to this same issue. I am grateful I was home and didn’t go to bed when planned otherwise we could have had a fire. The water did cause damage to our brand new wood floors. The company has refused to do anything about these issue.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Dishwasher
Hello,We purchased a Frigidaire Dishwasher model #FGID2466QWOA, serial number TH41929721, in June of 2014 through ABT Electronics in the Chicago area. There have been three warranty service call on the unit. In August of 2015, the main pcb, and control panel were replaced. Approximately three weeks ago the unit failed again. On Friday, January 15th, the service technician opened up the dishwasher to trouble shoot. What he found was catastrophic. This unit had caught on fire, started from the printed circuit board. The entire cavity where the electronic reside burned. We were asleep in the house when this fire occurred. I asked to be contacted by Electrolux management to discuss next steps to make this right. They have absolved themselves of any remuneration to cover out additional out of pocket costs. The traumatic realization was that our house could have caught on fire, putting us in potential danger while we slept.
We have asked them to compensate us $499 for us to purchase another dishwasher and new extended warranty, but we did not ask for compensation for our mileage, cost of our time, inconvenience, and overall psychological trauma.
We declined to have new parts installed in the subject unit, since they were just replaced in August, and we are genuinely worried about another fire.

The product, in the report: Figidaire model FDB520RHS2A Dishwasher
We purchased a Figidaire model FDB520RHS2A on 11/26/2010, delivered on December 12th 2010. From the beginning this Figidaire Dishwasher has been a Faulty and Dangerous appliance. Within the first 11 months we had to report 3 service complaints in which two included a failed washer motor impeller component that when it fails, the Dishwasher becomes “stuck” in the washing cycle WITHOUT WATER BEING PRESENT and becomes OVER HEATED. You can smell something over-heating or burning inside the Dishwasher. Figidaire sent warranty repair techs to fix the unit, but AGAIN this last week (8/18/2014) the Motor component had failed AGAIN (that is THREE in less than 4 years) and the Dishwasher began a run-away over-heating because it was again stuck in the wash cycle with no water present in the machine. Had we not noticed the burning smell, this would have surely caused a FIRE!! This model and similar ones, should be RECALLED by the Product Safety Administration! I have called Figidaire Corporate in Augusta GA and was essentially told “too bad, you should have bought an extended warranty” by a Customer Service Manager!!! I have read hundreds of Similar complaints on the Consumer Affairs website for many Figidaire models. Why is the Product Safety Administration doing nothing about this??

(a claims solutions company). At this point [REDACTED] is no longer returning my telephone calls to provide a resolution to this situation. Our insurance carrier has if you will “made us whole” again after this loss, however we have had to pay our deductible and our carrier has decided to not go forward with subrogation as a business decision, the reason for this business decision is because they are having great difficultly winning certain cases against a particular appliance company, which I will leave up to you to guess as to who that may be. Electrolux continues to get away with many situations just like mine and I feel someone needs to stand behind the consumer to have Electrolux do what is right and fair. I have documents that state that the dishwasher was responsible for the fire: the Virginia Beach Fire Department report, the C&O (cause and origin report) as well a verbal statement from the engineer hired by my insurance carrier who has stated that “there are only two places that this fire could have started, either in the motor or solenoid”.

The product, in the report: Dishwasher
Caller stated that the dishwasher was placed in wash cycle, after it completed the cycle the heating element stayed on. She was alerted by her spouse who informed her that he smelled a burning odor (like burnt plastic). She discovered that the odor was emitting from the dishwasher because it never powered off. The plastic racks had melted inside. She was unable to use the control panel to power it off, the circuit breaker was used to switch it off
The dishwasher was left opened but she inadvertently bumped into it and close the door and it spontaneously turned on. The unit is being kept off using the circuit breaker.
The manufacturer was not contacted as yet.
Caller feels that this dishwasher is a fire hazard and should be reported.
The product is not part of a recall.

The product, in the report: Frigidaire Gallery Dishwasher (model number GLDB954BS1 Serial Number TH31555737)
My Frigidaire Gallery Dishwasher (model number GLDB954BS1 Serial Number TH31555737) threw a spark from the vent holes and then released a steady stream of black smoke from the handle area. The house filled with electrical smoke smell.
I called the company and they said that because it was 10 years old they wouldn’t look into it. I talked to 4 levels of management. Finally the 4th level management agreed to send someone out too look at the damage. The repair man said there was no water damage or leaking. The P-5 connection burnt from relay causing extensive smoke and “bad board and membrane”. Quotes are from repair man’s notes. The malfunctioning board burned a hole in the membrane and left visible black smoke damage.
I am thankful we were home to turn off the breaker to cut the power to the unit. This malfunctioned in a way that was a fire hazard.

After purchasing a new Frigidaire/Electrolux dishwasher, I had to install a water hose coupler to the underneath to complete a water hookup to our existing water line, while doing this,I lacerated the top part of my hand 2 places,I bled profusely, and my wife had to obtain a cloth and ice to help stop the bleeding and take the swelling down, this was caused from a extremely sharp edges, that the manufacturer failed to deburr the sharp edges of this machine, especially the entire bottom of the frame work of the machine, it is my experience from machining parts, all parts should be deburred before leaving the factory. We reported the incident to Electrolux, but they denied the claim.Claim Number [REDACTED].

The product, in the report: Stainless undercounter built-in Frigidaire dishwasher
I ran the dishwasher through a regular cycle. There seemed to be more steam than usual toward the end of the cycle and I could smell a plastic burning odor. WHen I opened the door after the cycle ended, it was so extraordinarily hot that I left the door open and went to another room while the dishwasher cooled down. It took a long time to cool down and when I could finally access it, the soap holder latch had completely melted as had parts of the dishwasher lower rack. The dishes were not clean and were spotted with a brown scum in some places. The dishwasher is unusable.

My Frigidaire dishwasher, that is less than 3.5 years old, started smoking. Model FGHD2433KF0

How can a manufacturer make a heater element out of a metal that is going to rust and deteriorate to the point of starting a fire?
I am thankful that I came back downstairs after going to bed, and smelled the smoke, before it became a major fire.

The product, in the report: dishwasher
A normal load cycle had completed on my Frigidaire dishwasher. Approximately 15 minutes after the cycle had completed (not timed, but within reason of that time estimate), we heard a light buzzing from the control panel area, followed by smoke from an obvious electrical burn (indicated by smell and smoke color). I quickly opened the door latch to break the circuit. I then flipped the circuit breaker off to prevent further instance until I had a chance to open the panel. Upon opening the panel to look at the circuit board, I found that a short had occurred; circuits had apparently arced and began burning the board and surrounding plastic. I am just thankful that I had been standing next to the dishwasher when the arc first occurred, or the fire may have become much more expansive (possibly engulfing our kitchen?).

The product, in the report: Frigidaire dishwasher, tall model
At 2:00 am I was awakened by the smoke alarm in my hallway. I smelled acrid smoke. I searched for the source and found charcoal gray smoke coming from the top of my dishwasher, literally rolling out into the kitchen, dining room and living room. I hesitated opening the door to the dishwasher, fearing a flash fire, but I had to determine where the smoke was originating from.
The electronic panel on the inside of the door had been burning due to a short circuit. It burned all of the computer elements, wiring, and the back plastic panel. Opening the door shut off the electricity to the control panel. The underside of my kitchen cabinet was on fire and I used a fire extinguisher from under my kitchen sink to put out the fire.
I have filed a complaint with Electrolux, the maker of my Frigidaire dishwasher, which was purchased in 2003. An inspector came and took pictures of the damage, but I have heard nothing in three months from Electrolux. Under implied warranty, I believe the company is responsible for the cost of replacing the dishwasher ($426), and needs to replace my kitchen counter as well
