The product, in the report: Kenmore Front-loading Automatic Washer S/n 112KWYp3B666 Model: 40311900
After purchasing a front load washer from Sears a foul odor started coming from the interior within 6 months despite meticulously following the manufacture suggested cleaning/maintenance schedule and keeping the door open when not in use. For another two years the odor still persisted despite my weekly cleaning ritual. One day while cleaning the washer’s seal and drum I noticed that the agitator balls attached to the drum couldn’t spin. I decided to remove one of the agitator covers and was horrified, disgusted and a little scared to find the inside of the agitators were encased in a mold that was black in color. After removing the other two agitators the two were encased in mold. I later learned that the balls were not turning because the mold was so encased it was preventing them to spin thus preventing them from doing their intended function. I took multiple pictures and immediately called the [REDACTED]. I spoke to a very nice gentlemen who was only able to offer a service call at my expense, I declined the outrageous cost. I also offered to send him the pictures in hopes he would understand the severity of this case in those hopes this problem would be looked into on a larger scale but he declined.
My main hope in writing this letter is to highlight the very serious health risk associated with mold and the danger it has not only put my family in for over 2 years but the countless other consumers out there. I feel it is irresponsible for Kenmore to manufacture a front load washer that puts the health and safety of consumers into harm’s way. I look forward to the day when the health and safety of its consumers become a priority in actions rather than words

The product, in the report: Kenmore electric dryer model 417.88042700 (and corresponding washer)
Fire/shock hazard: Washer and dryer was set up stacked as designed. I’ve been using it without incident for a few years (just for myself and my little boy). Suddenly, the dryer seemed to have no power coming to it. After inspecting the breaker panel, etc I pulled the dryer down to look at it and found that the plastic module that the cord end screws into on the back of the unit was melted around the ends of the cord. We took the top off of the dryer and found that the wires in the wire harness had melted together. It appears that the vibration from the washer below has been causing the wires to rub together and has wore through the casing causing the wires to burn and subsequently short out. I have pictures of said wires and upc tags for reference, however my phone won’t upload to your site.

The product, in the report: White top loader Kenmore Elite washing machine model number 110.27082601 and serial number CT1370506 Type 580
During the last two days, August 12-13, 2014, my wife and I found our Kenmore washing machine had started on its own, several times. Not only does it waste water and electricity, it could also be very dangerous. Consider what could possibly happen, if no one was home during these self starts. The water could over flow and cause flooding or possibly start an electrical fire. Obviously, there is something wrong with the computerized control board. The defective control board could also allow the machine to start during the loading or unloading operations and seriously injure a hand or arm.

I have a Kenmore top load washer that spins and become unbalanced and shakes all over the floor. I contacted Sears and found that they have this problem with the same washers but the washers have a different model #. I was told until they have an acceptable amount of complaints I have to pay out of my own pockets to have repairs done.

The product, in the report: Kenmore Washer
I purchased a Kenmore front loading washer in October 2012 from Sears. Model 796.4127. S/N 209PNXL10226. The rubber gasket in the washer does not drain and holds water. It has black mildew on it which does not come off. It makes all of the wash smell like mildew and is ruining our clothes. I use the self cleaning function on the washer and regularly scrub the rubber gasket, however mildew builds up in areas that can not be reached. This problem has continued to get worse since first purchased. I see the reviews of the washer complain of the same problem. This item should be recalled. It is a defect to this product and a health concern for my family.

The product, in the report: Top Loading Washer
Caller purchased her top loading washing machine in May 2012 and had no problems with it until around November/December 2012 time frame during which time the machine began rocking, jerking, becoming very unstable. Her model number is on one of the CPSC recalls but the serial number does not match any on recall. The manufacturer sent a tech repair person who conducted a repair that slowed the washer down but since that time the machine has slowly gotten more and more unstable. The washer now is rocking side to side, moving from the position where it is set. The caller is afraid for her one year old baby whom she keeps away from the area but who is fascinated by the walking, rocking washer. She is asking that her washer be repaired or replaced at manufacture expense because she sees it as a severed safety hazard.
At this date there have been no injuries to report Caller contacted the manufacturer on February 12th, 2014. She did not document the name of the representative she spoke with but has created a report with them.

The product, in the report: Kenmore front loading washing machine, model number 41748102701, serial number XC84009111.
On Sunday, 01-05-13, at approximately 9:30 p.m. my Kenmore washing machine started itself on fire. The model number is 41748102701. The serial number is XC84009111. The washing machine was not in use at the time and no clothing was in it. The washing machine had finished it’s last cycle about 20 minutes prior to me smelling the stench in the air from three rooms away. My husband and I went to investigate the source of the smell and when he opened the washing machine door we both saw the flames and red glow inside. We reacted quickly with an ABC fire extinguisher and contacted 9-1-1. The responding fire department advised us that the washer’s water pump and wiring were defective and caused a fire.
I have contacted Kenmore and was advised that because the washer was not under warranty (it was purchased new in November 2008) and has no recall on it, they have no responsibility in the matter.

No one hurt Made Oct 22, 2013, sent to the company Oct 30, 2013, published by CPSC Nov 14, 2013
The product, in the report: Kenmore Elite Top Loading Washing Machine Model # 29272001 Serial # 111KWUC7X126
I have a SEARS bought Kenmore Elite top loading washing machine. For the past year, besides it not washing clothes very well anytime I wash anything more than just shirts, socks, etc. it becomes unbalanced and stops with an error code. Trying to wash jeans, towels, blankets, etc requires me to literally guide it through the steps which takes hours. When it tries to do a spin cycle this machine has more than once toppled over onto the sink next to it. I have also come downstairs to have found the machine moved a few feet away from the wall. It has gotten so bad I am scared to wash any items unless I’m home keeping an eye on it.
Last night’s episode was so violent I couldn’t complete the wash. I looked online to see if others were having any problems and found that this model had been recalled. In no way has SEARS made any attempt to alert me of this dangerous issue. My sister also has the exact same washing machine purchased in a different city and store and also was not notified of this issue.
Even when it is not being thrown off balance the wash and spin cycles never wash my clothes nor spin out the dirty water. When it does spin, I have found almost 90% of the time my clothes literally in knots. I have spent sometimes 15-20 minutes untangling my items and many of my clothes have been stretched beyond repair, torn and destroyed. The chemical dispensers are also not releasing things correctly as I find splotches of residue that is now permanent on my items as well. I follow the directions of the washing machine exactly and when I do - nothing comes out clean - some items never get even wet. And they still smell dirty (like smoke, or body odor - still in the clothes like never washed).
But biggest thing - I’m scared to run this washer. I honestly don’t want it in my house even if they try to fix it as I have heard people state that it only temporarily fixes problems. I would like a refund and/or allowed to exchange and get a new replacement washer equal expense at time of purchase of MY CHOICE. To spend over $900 on sale on this washer normally over a $1000 and have these issues for over a year on a less than 2 year old washer is ridiculous and worse to never be contacted equals a very [REDACTED] and upset consumer.

The consumer says the front loading washer balls up the clothes to the point where the clothes need readjusting 2-3 times per cycle. The consumer says the unit generates mold and mildew.
The manufacturer has suggested to leave the door open and the detergent door open. He says this has not helped very much. He spoke to the corporate office who said they feel bad but did not offer further assistance.

Whenever washing clothes the machine gets off balance & will not finish its cycle. I have to reset it 3-5 times Clothes do not get clean It twist the clothes & inside the twist there is dirt produces excessive amounts of lint do the fact that it is very hard on clothing This has been going on for over a year, we had the Sears service person come out for our annual (under our extended warranty) & he said it was do to washing shirt & jeans together, this is not true. I have been washing my clothes in my Moms machine most of the time for the last year because this one is so bad I want a refund, this machine is bad, even though I just found out about the recall by looking on line, it won’t help all these problems.

Hurt, no treatment Made Aug 20, 2013, sent to the company Sep 4, 2013, published by CPSC Sep 18, 2013
The product, in the report: Front Load High Speed HE3 Kenmore Elite Washer
Washer became seriously unbalanced fell off onto the floor, while attached to its base stand.
Posed and electrical hazard as water went spraying over the 220 void plug from the hose connections. Damaged the Hose connection to the House plumbing. I thought the machine was going to explode.
The DRUM Arm, and Bearing Spindle, is made of inferior metal. The three arm attachment bolted to the Stainless steel Drum, literally dissolved. The three arms were pitted with decay and then snapped. This drum can spin up to 1100 rpm. The out of aligned drum, then began to shred the Front Fiberglass Drum Housing, resulting in melted Fiberglass, then broken fiberglass where it was heated up, and simply peeled off, like crisp bacon.
The metal for the Drum arm is simply inferior and in know way, can stand up to the washing water; it simply starts to dissolve. The Drum Arm is listed as a separate component, however, you can only order the Stainless Steel DRUM with the Arm attached and not the Arm itself. This is another complaint, for pricing of parts.
Because the Drum Handling Arms become broken from excessive corrosion The drum began a severe wobble within it’s fiberglass housing. The stainless steel drum lip, broke off the Fiberglass housing lip. In fact melted the lip and when it cooled the next time the drum ran, it snapped off the cooled brittle Fiberglass lip.
The broken Stainless Steel Drum arm, with the broken fiberglass housing caused the drum to wobble, go out of balance, causing the internal cement counter weights to bounce severely , flipping the machine over.
I believe the Manufacturer should replace the machine HE3, as the cause of failure, is poor engineering of the Stainless Steel Drum Arm and Bearing Shaft.

Sears Outlet Store in Bridgeville, PA sold us a Kenmore Elite Washer 29272 serial number 110kw on August 15, 2013 that was recalled in December 2012. It was supposed to be a “scratch and dent” return which we weren’t concerned about. The washer is not operating correctly and begins to rock and sway excessively. We were told by the sales associate that the product was tested by sears before going out for resale and that it was fine. Once it was installed and I was looking for product information I found out about the recall.

Elite Washer purchased unit 11/15/2009.
Unit worked fine for the first year then the next year the caller noticed that the machine was vibrating, it was not as quiet as it had been the first six months and that it seemed to be getting progressively loud but she saw no reason for alarm.
During the past six months the washer has become increasingly loud and has begun shaking so loudly until Sunday, July 7th, 2013 caller loaded the washer then started it and the unit seemed to be working at least as well as it had been in the past.
Once it entered the rinse cycle it was literally jumping up and down from the vibrating/banging tub then just stopped working.
Caller has not contacted the manufacturer but does intend to contact them
There have been no injuries

The product, in the report: Kenmore Elite Washing Machine - Model #29272001
On June 1st I heard water running from my laundry room. I walked out to see what was happening and the drain pipe was overflowing. I could tell the pump from the washer was trying to pump water out and there was water all over my laundry room floor. I assumed there was a backup in my drain pipe and bought industrial strength [REDACTED] to unclog it. I’ve washed multiple loads of laundry within the last week (large loads, small loads, delicates, towels, bulky loads) and have had no problems until last night. Last night I heard the water sound again and there was even more water all over the place last night. I checked the washer and it showed “uE” on the display panel. I looked online and found out there was a recall for this washer due to uneven loads. Most reviews and problems I’ve seen online from this washer indicate an unevel load problem and lots of vibration, and only a few mention the water spilling over. I’ve only noticed water spilling out of the washer twice. I have no clue if the washer has done this before while I’m not home or while I was not next to the laundry room and couldn’t hear the sound of water pouring out. I do see what looks to be water damage under my cabinets and some of the water did travel under the walls into another closet. I pulled the carpet and dried the floors as best I could. I purchased the washer in November of 2011 from Sears as a “Black Friday” special. I was not notified by them that there was a product recall. I was not aware of the recall until I researched online last night (6/12/13).

my wife was washing some clothes when she heard a loud noise coming from the washroom she went to check and the washer was shaking and moving all over the floor. she tried to hold the washer from pulling the supply lines and the electrical cord from the wall. she got pinned between the washer and the dryer.
you should not have to stay and watch the washing machine until it finishes the wash.
this washers are dangerous and should not even be out on the market.
now, the manufacturer kenmore is telling us that they are not responsible for this defective product, and that we can call the service people to come and fix the problem at my expense.
I know that there was a recall on this top loading washers. If we have to wait until some one gets hurt to find that it was a defective product it may be too late.

We currently own a Sears Kenmore Elite High Efficiency washer model # 29272. It has been recalled because washing certain items could “result in bodily injury, severe damage to our laundry, our washer, and/or property damage,”” Currently there is no way to fix the problem of inability to wash certain items such as rain gear, camping gear, skiing apparel, mattress pads, mattress covers, etc. They have offered stickers for the machine, to remind consumers not to wash these types of items. We do not want this washing machine in our home and have asked Sears to permit us to exchange it with a different make/model (and we will pay the difference}. They have refused.

I have a Kenmore Elite Washer that is on recall. It has been shaking excesivly. We recieved the recall notice and had the software reflashed, the problem continued. After a few weeks the washer was vibrating excesivly when it stopped and gave an error code of DL. This error code casused the door not to open. I called sears and have explained the situation. They continue to send technicians who are only able to reflsash software, something that can not be done due to the DL error code. It turns out that this code is due to a broken latch. It has been several days, several appointments and hours and hours on the phone and my washer is not fixed and my clothers (several hundred dollars worth) are stuck inside, likely mildewy and ruined. I went in to the store and and the brand central manager listened to my story, did not take down any notes and told me that she would try to contact me in a couple days. Not happy

LG/Kenmore Elite Washing Machine. One evening as I was washing my family’s clothes the washer started making a horrible noise. I ran to it. I tried to hit the pause button. The lid unlocked but the bin did not stop spinning and it continued to make the most horrible noise. It sound like metal rubbing against metal. The drum would still not stop. I then unplugged the machine and it still continued to spin for what seemed like a few minutes. Just before this all occurred the washer had been saying uneven load, but I kept checking and there was not an uneven load and it kept filling up with more and more water. After I had the washer off for a few minutes I tried starting the washer again because I was in the middle of a wash cycle and at least wanted to get this load of laundry done. The washer continued to read uneven load then continue filling up with water and then again with the horrible noise and spinning. I finally gave up and called Sears for service in the morning. That morning I was told my warranty was done and how much a service call would be. The serviceman came to my house said there was a loose bolt. Put the original bolt back into place(per serviceman) and he left. It cost about 135.68 for 5 minutes.

I received a Product Saftey Recall letter in Feb 2013 and phoned with the serial number to find that my machine was defective and needed a repair person to come and repair it. I scheduled two appointments to have it repaired. No service person showed up. No one called to apologize or reschedule.
I will not call and reschedule with the number listed in the letter because they told me they have no way of knowing if a service technician will actually show up. They only see a calendar with available time slots. Both times I called to tell them nobody showed they were not surprised.
If I am injured I want you to know that I tried to have this machine repaired under recall and this documents that fact.
I have noticed the drum having problems when certain items are washed. I am not going to wash any waterproof clothes until it is repaired.

My Kenmore Elite Washer will not drain or spin without moving out from the wall and makes very loud sounds. I have had Sears under the recall for this product out to my home twice and they still have not fixed it. I have been without a working washer for 3 weeks now and they now tell me that LG the manufacturer will now need to ship me a computer board and it will take at least another week. Sears informed me today that LG has now identified more issues than just the original fix of downloading a new program. The washer moves and is very heavy to push back into the wall. It could hurt someone with the movement the un-balanced condition causes. I can’t even use the washer and it is just a little over a year old and price point was on the top end for a washer. Sears is not standing behind the product until LG has a chance to assist first.

WE ALSO HAD VAIOUS PROBLEMS WITH IT SUCH AS THE DRUM--ITS LOOSE AND THIS WASHER CONTINUES TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, SO WE PUT IT IN THE GARAGE AND CAN NO LONGER USE IT. IT IS MODEL 42922 PURCHASED ON OCT. 31, 2002. WE HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE DAY ONE--AND I WAS HOPING THAT MAYBE IT WAS BECAUSE OF OUR FLOOR SURFACE--LAMINATED--BUT THE FLOOR IS EVEN AND IT SHOULDN’T SHAKE TO THE POINT OF MOVING AGAINST OUR WALL AND ENTRAPPING OUR DAUGHTER! ITS VERY UNSAFE, AND IM VERY CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY, AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO OUR LAUNDRY ROOM. I HAVE CALLED KENMORE AS WELL AS SEARS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM--AND THEY BASICALLY SUGGESTED THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THWE DRUM, BUT CLAIMED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO THEY WERENT WILLING TO HELP ME ON THIS ONE. THIS IS THE WORST WASHER WE HAVE EVER HAD, AND IT WASNT CHEAP, EITHER. IM SURE THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS PRODUCT, AND IT SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE MARKET BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT!

The product, in the report: Washing machine
While washing bedclothes, machine began making noise and then there was a loud bang and then repeated banging. The top had blown off from the cabinet of the machine and flew forward, but the electrical cord stopped its flight and left it dangling against the front of the cabinet, banging repeatedly against it as the machine shook violently. Had anyone been in the small laundry room at the time, personal injury would most likely have occurred due to the violence of the event.
UPDATE: The risk of personal injury or death was significant. Had anyone (especially one of the 8 children in the house) been in that closet-sized room when the incident occurred, they would have been struck, probably in the head, by the top flying off the machine or by the cabinet of the machine as it jumped wildly around the room. It was so frightening we didn’t have it repaired and never used it again. We value the children infinitely higher than the hundreds of dollars lost on this investment.

Kenmore Elite Top-Loading Washing Machine shakes a lot, and fails to complete cycle due to imbalance error code. Washing loads requires sometimes four or five restarts, including a switch to rinse and spin (several times), to complete washing load. This has wasted water and energy, despite the claim that this washer is energy and water efficient by virtue of its design. This has been going on for six months or more.

We can not afford to purchase a new one and have had to use this unsafe machine to present time and continue to try and use it. I would like to see this machine be included in the recall with the other machines that are presenting the same problems.
My kenmore oasis has been giving the infamous f1 code and when on the high rpm spin cycle the machine will not balance and moves around violently. The machine actually smashed my fingers between it and our door frame as I tried to push myself out of its way. This issue is the same for small and large loads.

My washer continues to easily become unbalanced with any large load or small load with an article that becomes heavy when wet. For example a bedspread for a kingsized bed may require an adjustment on my part to rebalance the load two or three times to get through a wash cycle. The same thing happens with a small load if there is a shirt that retains a lot of water that one article will cause the entire load of five or six items to become unbalanced multiple times during the wash cycle. It will cause the shaking noise or stop the wash cycle. This has happened too many times to count and until I saw the recall I thought this was SOP for this type of washing machine.

The product, in the report: Kenmore washer / dryer combination unit. Color is whitish-cream. Top loading washing machine on bottom of unit and front loading dryer on top. It is an all-in-one unit and cannot be separated into a single washer and single dryer.
The product of concern is a Kenmore washer / gas dryer combination machine. While using the clothes dryer function of the unit, the unit caught fire internally in two areas located near the gas blower that was unaccessible to be cleaned for excess lint build-up by the consumer. The first area was the area housing the gas discharge and the second area is a few inches below that. Additionally, although this unit was already present in the home when I purchased this house, I had located an online version of the unit’s user manual and I didn’t see anything listed about consumers having to take the unit apart to clean inside the machine to prevent fire.
The fire remained localized to inside the unit and appears to have extinguished itself once the lint that was fueling the fire was mainly burned away, but the unit and items within the unit smelled like burnt popcorn for almost a year thereafter. I ceased using the unit after it went on fire because I noticed the intense burning smell when I unloaded the dry clothes after the drying cycle was over. I couldn’t confirm a fire at that point, but I suspected one occurred although I didn’t see any obvious signs on the outside of the unit and didn’t see any smoke rising from the unit. Within a week or two of the incident, I called to have the unit serviced by a Sears Home Repair specialist. When the technician arrived, he disassembled the unit by taking off a diagonal metal piece that is located between the washer loading door and the dryer door. Inside he showed me a large amount of burnt lint and told me that the unit went on fire due to lint accumulation inside the sealed area near the gas discharge. I told him that I regularly cleaned the unit and he sold me a long brush designed to clean under the lint trap chamber as a precaution.
Prior to the fire, I maintained the unit’s lint trap by cleaning it out after the completion of every dryer load and periodically sticking a vacuum attachment in the area underneath the lint trap.
On 9/17/10 or 9/18/10, I again had the unit serviced by Sears for an unrelated problem with the dryer function. When the technician serviced the unit, it required him to open areas that are inaccessible to the consumer again and he appeared startled when he called me over to show me a mass accumulation of lint in the same area of the unit that caught fire back in 2008. He took a small orange shop vacuum of his and vacuumed the inside of the sealed area near the gas discharge. There was a lot of lint build up in the area. I don’t know if the shop vacuum previously had anything inside it prior to the cleaning of my unit, but the vacuum filled to capacity during the cleaning and I offered to empty it into a plastic supermarket bag and it filled the entire bag with lint. Prior to this discovery, I had not opened the unit to clean this area. I watched the technician put the unit back together and watched how he accessed that internal area with the lint build-up and since this time, about every six months I use a screw driver to open the unit carefully and remove the lint build-up that continues to occur in this inaccessible area.
I want to report this condition since the unit has previously been on fire from the lint build-up, I feel that it is a little unsafe to be working inside the unit around a gas line, but the consequences of not cleaning it could be much greater, I didn’t see instructions to the consumer that this type of maintenance is required per the user manual. I think that Sears products are becoming very unsafe and that this issue warrants a closer look for a possible recall.

The product, in the report: Kenmore 4.2 Front Load Washing Machine with Steam Model #40441900
I have a Kenmore Front Load Washer Model #40441900 S/N 009KWEL00652, that is less than 2 years old and was not working properly. The washer kept shutting down and listing an “LE” code. What concerns me is when my husband removed the back panel of the washer and noticed a white wiring harness that looked like it had slightly melted and was starting to turn black. He had me start the washer again and noticed that these wires were arcing! The wires were secure in their places with nothing around that would have bothered the harness. I’m afraid that this problem could result in a fire. I’m not sure if these harnesses are faulty or what. I had also went on line to see if others had the same problem with their washer and I noticed that there were many instances referencing the need to replace the wiring. This seems unusual to me. Many appliances work for years and years with no problems to the wiring.

The product, in the report: Sears Kenmore Top Load Washer Model 11028002010 Serial Number C11031062
Product is a Sears Kenmore Top Load Washer Model 11028002010, purchased 03/25/2011. On June 2, 2012, while the washer was completing a cycle, I noticed a burning smell coming from under the washer and that the clothes had not spun down. When I lifted the bottom of the machine, further burning smell was evident. I called Sears Appliance Services and a technician came to the house to examine and repair the product. The technician removed the lower insulation/sound deadening panel, and we could see that the housing covering the two drive pulleys was warped, broken, and partially burned and melted. The insulation layer was also blackened and partially melted. The technician removed the housing and stated that the nut holding the large drive pulley had come off the shaft, the pulley had detached along with the drive belt, and friction had caused the damage and burning. Due to a lack of parts, the total repair could not be completed and parts were ordered. On June 12, 2012, another Sears Technician completed the repair by installing factory parts and was of the opinion that the problem “would not happen again”. The repair cost me $265.79. However, on September 24, 2011 the machine again broke down in the same fashion. Sears was called again, and a Sears Technician made a house call on September 24 and October 2, 2012 to install replacement parts of the same design that had failed previously. The Technician and I observed that the breakdown was due to the fact that the manufacturer had used an ordinary nut to hold the large pulley on the drive shaft, without any means of securing the nut in place over time (such as a lock washer mechanism, cotter pin, or threading in the reverse direction of shaft rotation). As a result, the nut would and did fail repeatedly to secure the pulley in place by simply coming unscrewed under normal use. This was an inherent design flaw that could have been and should now be remedied to preclude both breakdown and the chance of causing a fire under the washer. As I had purchased some myself for this purpose, the Sears Technician applied “REDACTED” glue to the shaft to help hold the nut in place, but I view this as only a temporary fix at best. I am concerned that this appliance is inherently dangerous as constructed, has not been repaired despite several visits by Sears qualified technicians, and requires a safety recall to repair it using other parts now not available. Failing that, the company should totally recall the product and refund my original purchase price.

My husband and I have a 2 year old Kenmore Front-Loading Automatic Washer, Model 796. While on the spin cycle it began to smoke heavily filling my bathroom and the rest of our condo. Accompanying the smoke was a strange metallic smell almost like burning rubber. We have placed a service call to Sears but they won’t come out for another week! And, we have had to turn the circuit breaker off to the Washer to avoid a possible fire. I have done some cursory research on the internet and this seems to be a common problem with the Kenmore Stackable units. I wish we had known this before we bought it.

The product, in the report: Kenmore HE2 Plus Washing Machine, front loader, white
Black mold is growing inside my front loader Kenmore washing machine. Always keep the door open to the washer after a load, so I don’t see any mold in the washing area, but mold grows in the soap dispenser, I keep it cleaned, but yesterday, I pulled out the soap tray for the first time and looked inside and see quite a bit of mold growing inside the machine where I can’t get to it. Enough to not want to use it again. I tried the cleaning cycle with bleach, but after running this cycle twice, I see the mold is still there inside the machine.
Most of my clothes are line dried (so they won’t shrink or fade in the dryer) and I believe I’ve been carrying around mold in my clothes for God knows how long.
I spent around $990 on this washing machine, because the front loading is better on my back than pulling out a load from a regular washing machine, but I’m going to have to get rid of the mold. Contacting Sears, but I bought this Kenmore from them 3 or more years ago, without any additional warranties, so I expect I will get nothing from them on this.

I have a Kenmore Elite Oasis washing machine model #110.27062600 serial #CT0670345. Sears replaced the circuit board during their recall last year. The machine would go out of balance quite often and would take two to three times as long as it should to finish a load of laundry. That was before the recall part was installed. It was worse after they replaced it and we hoped with time it would get better. It never did and last night it started beeping by itself at about 3am. The only way to make it stop is to unplug it until you use. Then you have to be patient and program it several times before it will start, but it still keeps beeping. The scary thing is that it sparks at the plug when you plug in or unplug it. Nothing else we plug in or unplug does this at that same socket.

The product, in the report: Front Loading Washing machine....Energy Saver
I have a Kenmore Energy Saving Frontload Washer Model No. 417-48102701 purchased in 2008 from Sears. The rubber seal at the door opening has an awful odor that smells like fungus and mold. I looked online with CP and there were various suggestions of product to buy to use in washer to rid the smell. I spent $10 on AFFRESH CLEANER and the odor is still there. The salesmen said to “JUST LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN and use this product every month. This amounts to approximately $50 added expense a year from keeping my washer from stinking. The mold stains are still there.
My COMPLAINT: besides the mold is.....
I feel it is unsafe to “ JUST LEAVE MY WASHER DOOR OPEN” after every wash to let the excess water collected in the rim of the rubber seal to dry out. I babysit a 2 yr old Grandson and....the possibility of any child climbing in or putting an animal into the front load washer is unacceptable. I am careful to close the door when small children are present. My machine is in a narrow hallway and it is inconvenient to have a swinging open door to sidestep going into a bedroom or bathroom where my washer is situated.
I see there are now Top Load “energy saving” washers on the market. Are there rebates or recalls for these washers that I could use for a safer top loading Energy Saving Washer???? The other drawback is once you load and start a front loading washer....there is no going back and adding to your wash load to save more loads and energy.
THANKS FOR HEARING ME OUT AND SPREADING THE WORD. ARE THERE OTHER COMPLAINTS???
