  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 12, 2016, sent to the company Jul 20, 2016, published by CPSC Aug 12, 2016

The product, in the report: Plastic 5 gallon gas can

I have three 5gallon metal gas cans. I used to have to replace the nozzles periodically. Now, because off new regulations, I can’t but these replacement nozzles. Because of this, I was forced to purchase new plastic ventless cans. The nozzle on these cans require 3 hand to dispense gas from the can. This is the most dangerous thing that I have do right now in my life. The threads on the plastic cans are poorly designed and have separated from the can several times as I was filling my lawnmower spilling gas all over the lawnmower.

I can’t b the only person complaining about this. What is being done to correct this stupidity? How many people have to injured or killed before this nonsense is corrected?

The product, in the report: The product i a nozzle that serves as both the fuel despense and the cap of the fuel can when is storage.

The fuel dispensing nozzle of a Briggs & Stratton gas can does not prevent spillage of the fuel when in storage mode, even when the can if filled only to the fill line. When stored, the nozzel is inverted into the can, and it seems to siphon the fuel out of the can. Additionally, there is a cap that is supposed to fit over the open end of the inverted nozzle, but it cannot be secured, allowing fuel to spill. The name of this product is Briggs & Stratton Self Venting Smart Fill Nozzle System. This product is an immedite threat to anyone who uses it.

This marks my second effort at reporting an extremely dangerous gas “Briggs & Stratton 85013 1+ Gallon Gas Can” After completing the form the first time the site locked up and didn’t save any entries or my email address

The gas can’s valve caused spillage on my hand shoes and grass surrounding the devise I was trying to fill This has apparently happened to a number of users

  4. No one hurt

Made Oct 1, 2012, sent to the company Oct 10, 2012, published by CPSC Oct 24, 2012

The product, in the report: res “safety gas can” with green slide on the black spout - 5 gallon can

We recently purchased a “safety fuel can” for unleaded regular gasoline. We were told the normal, regular gas cans were no longer available. We took the can home, put gasoline in it, put gas in my mower, and placed the gas can in the shade until we needed it again. The temperature was about 75 degrees. The gas can swelled up and when we let off the pressure, fuel and vapors burst from the can. If this had been my son, it could have been in his face. This so called “safety can” has no vent to let off pressure. This is more dangerous than pouring gas out on the ground. We have thrown out this can and returned to using our old can as this one is more dangerous than any other can on the market. At least our traditional fuel can won’t explode in the back of the truck on the way home from the gas station.
