No one hurt Made Nov 19, 2016, sent to the company Dec 6, 2016, published by CPSC Dec 20, 2016
The product, in the report: No-Spill 1415 1-1/4-Gallon Poly Gas Can
The product is a “poly” 1-1/4 gallon gas can with a push-button pour spout. When the can is heated by exposure to the sun or even normal summer temperatures and then cooled in the evening, the can implodes, causing severe distortion of the sides of the can. Then, when the temperature increases or pressure is released by opening the valve, the can expands back to its original size, only to collapse again at the next temperature drop. It is inevitable that such constant flexing will cause the plastic can to crack and leak, posing a serious risk of fire and exposure to hazardous fumes.
