As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: 2-gallon red plastic portable fuel container

Purchased two 2-gallon plastic fuel containers from Walmart on Aug 5 at the Airway Heights, WA store. Containers made by Specter Corp.

Both containers leak fuel when trying to pour. A rubber gasket is provided which came placed between the spout and the cap. When tightened in this position the gasket slips out of place coming out between the spout and cap. Tried putting the gasket between the spout and container but will not stay in place.

Found that placing the gasket between the cap and spout there is a ridge on the spout with a small notch where a gasket could fit but the gasket provided is 2-3 time thicker than the notch so will not fit.

The leak is not a small leak but a fair size stream which creates very quickly a large fire hazard.

Product needs to be recalled immediately as a extreme safety hazard.
