The product, in the report: Air freshener This battery dispensed spray, in a can, is encased with a plastic cover designed for hanging on a wall. Airwick Freshmatic- All scents is both a toxic fragrance and an explosive fire risk; posing hazard to life, health, and property for emergency personnel, households, schools, gyms, day care, offices, and innumerable other places for which product may be purchased; without knowledge of the full implications of the risk and consequent tragedies this will cause. The brunt and full cost of any disasters which may evolve from the transportation and storage of the product would have to be borne by the communities who happen to be in harms way. This product does not meet the criteria for “freedom from harm”. The only responsible action for this corporation to take is to cease production (of the entire line) ie All Scents) immediately to thereby prevent unnecessary injury, death, property damage, and major disruptions to people’s lives that is inflicted by toxic poisoning and explosive fire. Caller stated that the air freshener was placed in the apartment building [hallways] confined areas. She started having health symptoms which included lip burning, metallic taste in mouth, tightness in throat , hoarseness, brain fog, severe headaches that lasted for 24 hours, neck stiffness etc. She had not seen a medical professional. She tried avoiding those areas that had the air freshener and when she did she felt better.
She contacted the Landlord and requested them to be removed. They were eventually removed and her symptoms dissipated. These symptoms were ongoing from 11/23- 12/9/2013.
She feels that this product is unsafe and should be reported.
