  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Mar 19, 2012, sent to the company Apr 18, 2012, published by CPSC May 9, 2012

The product, in the report: Air Freshner 8 oz Spray can (manual)

The consumer stated that whenever he sprays the air freshener it causes him to cough and sneeze. It also leaves a moist residue which causes the floor to be wet and slippery (fall hazard).

The consumer stated that he feels that this is a health issue, he did not receive medical attention. Whenever he uses the air freshener, he leaves the room to avoid this reaction.

9/2011 The manufacturer was contacted and he was advised to use the air freshener in short sprays and move backwards away from the air to prevent this reaction.

The consumer feels that this spray is a health hazard and should be reported.

UPDATE, email to Reckitt Benckiser: My complaint was two fold about the Air Wick Aerosols “New Noveau”. UPC 62338 77002 80z. container. Immediately upon spraying, I sneeze and cough. The spray leaves a residue on surfaces. does not evaporate in the air. The customer service response was to spray in short bursts. backing out of the room while spraying. I guess this person never tried spraying while in the room. My response was to throw te spray cans away, and stop buying Air Wick sprays. Unfortunately, the item was purchased by mistake due to the low price; the harmful reaction remains. Air Wick did not make anyimprovements; harmful to me.
