The product, in the report: interior paint PPG 83-110 Timeless
The consumer would like to know why firms that makes paints are not required to place a VOC warning label on the product.
On June 16, 2018, the consumer stated that she had a severe allergic reaction but did not realize at the time that it was the paint that she had used inside of her home. The consumer stated that she experienced dizziness, a sinus infection and was nauseous. The consumer had to go to the emergency room. She was treated and released. My GP followed up the next day and referred me to an ENT Specialist, then an allergist. It was four months until I recovered.
The consumer attributed the allergic reaction to the VOC’s in the paint. She stated that she would if there had been a VOC warning label on it, she would have let her husband do the painting.
Last month when she purchased a different brand, the can did have a VOC warning label.
The consumer contacted PPG about the warning label and was advised that they are not responsible for VOC labels.
