Emergency room Made Mar 3, 2021, sent to the company Mar 11, 2021, published by CPSC Mar 25, 2021
The product, in the report: Chevrolet orange DE1620 engine spray paint in a can. Model Dupli-color Engine/ Chevrolet orange DE1620 UPC Ede162007/et311
An spray paint can called Chevrolet orange DE1620 ( Dupli-color) Engine enamel with ceramic had exploded on my face and my car as I took the top off to use it to spray my brake drums. I began taking the top off in an upright position like I have been doing for the last 30 years and right then and their it just malfunctioned spraying orange spray all over my face , clothes, my car while receiving burnt skin and some of the paint getting around the eyes as I instantly closed them before I go totally blind. I went to emergency where the treated me, then they sent me a referral to an ophthalmologist at Prisma health in Columbia SC. They tested my vision and I now need glasses. My face is scaley and lighter than my body. A doctor at [REDACTED] office says that the skin will take months to heal completely if it heals, so [REDACTED] light refered me to a dermatologist who I have not got the call to go yet. This incident happened on 1/21/21, I tried my best to get the paint off, me , my wife and mother and law, and we managed. Next I went to a doctor care because my eyes were very blurry an see oozing, skin was burning to the max and I couldn’t stop smelling the fumes from the paint which was also in my nostrils. I need help because I don’t know what the future holds with me engulfing these chemicals. And it’s important to me that this doesn’t happen to a kid who may not think as fast as I did, I don’t want this to happen to any adult either. I still have the spray can that malfunctioned. I also have all of the medical history in which I am not close to being finished with the medical side. My email is [REDACTED] if you need to get in touch.
