No incident, no one hurt Made May 16, 2023, sent to the company Jun 1, 2023, published by CPSC Jun 23, 2023
The product, in the report: Behr Paints sold by Home Depot. Bacteria were frequently found growing in huge colonies in the red purple and green tint canisters.
I’m writing this report because recently I discovered that bacteria growing in Behr paint are harmful and toxic strains that cause various infections. Customers daily use Behr paints and paint these products on their walls. Employees are required nightly to inhale and touch these bacteria that cause respiratory illnesses without any warning or safety recommendations.

Hospital admission Made Aug 26, 2016, sent to the company Sep 6, 2016, published by CPSC Sep 27, 2016
The product, in the report: BEHR paints
I used BEHR paint to paint my new town home. Within 24 hrs I had blisters all over my hands, within days I had a rash all over my exposed skin. My nose had sores and my eyelids swelled up. I felt completely disoriented and extremely sick. I went to the dermatologist and then to the hospital because of airborne contact allergic reaction to BEHR paint. I had several biopsies done and was sent for further testing. After certified patch testing I found out I was severely allergic to methylisozialonone a major preservative in BEHR paint. BEHRs costumer service representative told my dermatologist that MI was “pretty much not in their paint” when I contacted them they gave me a run around answer “it’s not an ingredient we use here at BEHR in our paint, but our suppliers of our raw materials use it in the can” so it’s in the paint... Since the MI used in BEHR paint goes airborne once it’s applied to the walls it is in the air for 90+ days. This is an unknown fact for many consumers. This type of reaction is rare but worthy of being documented and researched as to why companies can place blame on their suppliers and not take responsibility for what goes into the can that has their brand name on it! Or the effects of airborne chemicals that can cause such horrible effects.
