The product, in the report: Alpine Semi Gloss Roof Paint
I was a first time user of Alpine Roof Paint Semi Gloss, when after applied on a metal roof, I slipped and fell off that roof and suffered serious head trauma, and shattered elbow. The manufacturer states my failure to wear fall protection caused my fall, but as I explained to the retailer I had never painted a metal roof prior to the incident. Also, I was not a roofer nor had knowledge of the OSHA REQUIREMENTS. I walked on this metal roof for 5 days preparing it for paint prior to the incident; even during a period of pressure washing. I slipped off the roof the day (20 hours) after I applied this roof paint in warm sunny weather, well within parameters of the label’s instruction for recoat. Common sense and reason dictates the the slippery condition of this roof paint caused my fall. The slippery condition of this roof paint makes for a dangerous situation. I certainly did not expect nor was prepared for the slippery condition of the roof paint!!! The manufacturer failed to warn me of the product’s dangerous propensities. They did not require me to have knowledge of or certification in OSHA roofing safety standards.
