Emergency room Made May 20, 2019, sent to the company May 28, 2019, published by CPSC Jun 18, 2019
The product, in the report: JOMAX Spray Once Mildew cleaner. An acid product that is mixed with water and applied with a garden sprayer. The product says that the consumer is to spray it on and then wait while it eliminates the mildew.
I purchased JOMAX Spray Once from Lowes on Veterans in Metairie. It is manufactured by Rustoleum. The label contained no warnings about using on ceilings or about the dangers of showering when the product was on skin/hair. I applied it to an exterior ceiling and first off, it did not work. I think this is because it could not achieve the concentration required. The label is silent on ceilings. More importantly, the label did not adequately warn about the dangers of the product. I got some in my hair and during a shower, it got into my eyes and I experience chemical burns to both eyes. I ended up in the emergency room-the product is a strong acid and should never be applied overhead. This was very painful. I contacted the company. They refunded the purchase, but blew off the important safety concerns. Their medial person handles consumer safety issues.
