Made Jun 13, 2019, sent to the company Jul 3, 2019, published by CPSC Jul 18, 2019

The product, in the report: Arm & Hammer Liquid Laundry Detergent, 210 fl. oz/1.64 gallons. Yellow bottle with blue cap and detergent dispenser.

Yesterday a full, 2 gallon container of Arm & Hammer laundry detergent inexplicably exploded in my laundry room. The cap blew off, shattering in pieces and 2 gallons of detergent sprayed and spilled everywhere. There is no logical explanation as to why this would happen, but it’s a major safety concern. Not 2 minutes prior, I had been standing in front of the bottle. And the force with which the cap flew off would have most certainly caused injury. The wall of my laundry room will now need to be re-painted and the clean up was a nightmare. After a very extensive search to find an elusive contact phone for the company (owned by Church & Dwight), I finally reached customer service and rather than apologizing she said “well, what do you want?” and offered me a coupon. To me and many others, it’s a safety concern that a new bottle of detergent on a shelf in a cool laundry room would explode for no viable reason. Beyond the stress and hassle involved in the clean up, my only thought is that it could have hurt my children or myself had the laundry room door been open. I’ve tried searching for contact information for people higher in the hierarchy of the company, but to no avail.

The product, in the report: Laundry detergent

I bought Arm & Hammer Laundry Detergent for the first time and for the first time in my life I have broken out in hives and a rash on my body. I’m itching everywhere. Apparently, according to other consumers online, they have also reacted the same to the Arm & Hammer laundry detergents. It would be safe to say that their product is not safe; as the chemicals are causing major skin irritations / break outs.

The product, in the report: Arm & Hammer Oxiclean clothing detergent

For the first time, I purchased Arm & Hammer Oxiclean clothing detergent. After wearing clothes washed in this product, I broke out violently with hives covering both arms, back, legs, stomach. I first noticed it Tuesday evening and by Wedn. morning was progressing worse. Went to Walk-in Clinic Wedn andPrimary care Doctor on Thursday both confirming this was contact with something from my clothes as the welt/hives are only in the areas that touched the shirt and pants. The welts were not under the bra area and interestingly enough that item had NOT been washed in that detergent. I am in anguish, I cannot sleep at night. I am on medication to help with the swelling and itching. I have been home for 3 days suffering and have had to wash everything I own again in a different detergent. I’ve never had hives before, do not take medicaton (prior to this) and have no history of being sick.

Now I look like a pepperoni with the majority of my body covered in hives. This is the only changed product I have made in the past 2 weeks or months for that matter. There is something wrong with the clothes soap.
