The product, in the report: The Giant Company’s store-brand triple action dishwasher detergent packs
I suffered an eye injury when liquid from a dishwasher detergent pack squirted me in one eye when I was pulled two packs apart. I developed chemical conjunctivitis, temporarily could not see, erosion of the cornea and required $2,500 in health care charges (i.e., one ER visit, six visits to Ophthomalogist’s office, $300 for three prescriptions, and 150 miles of medical travel). After a month, my vision was restored and most of the discomfort was gone. Medicare paid 75% of this, and my Medicare supplement paid about 15%.
