  1. Seen by a doctor or nurse

Made Feb 17, 2012, sent to the company Mar 19, 2012, published by CPSC Apr 9, 2012

The product, in the report: Furniture/Leather repair kit, no expiration date, will not dry

The consumer stated that she used the leather repair kit on her furniture and noticed that it would not dry and then it was damaging the furniture and caused her right trigger finger to react differently because of the contant wiping when told to remove it by Permatex as the code inside package indicated it was 2 years past expiration.

6/2011 She contacted the manufacturer and was advised to look for a code after she read it, he told her to remove it immediately because it was toxic and had expired. The repair kit had left an overwhelming odor in her clothes and on her furniture. It destroyed leather couch, stained clothing, caused severe pain to hands. Have ongoing medical due to this, PT and cortisone treatments.

The consumer stated that she has been contacting the manufacturer since last year to see if they can replace her furniture that was damaged by this toxic chemical which had expired, but they have not dealt right with her. They refuse to put expiration date on product so this can happen repeatedly- Permatex seems used to this. The consumer feels that this kit is unsafe based on the fact that is being sold and there is no way the consumer can tell if it is expired.

UPDATE: URGENT: Product needs recall. Company refuses to put expiration date on product. Permatex Leather & Vinyl repair. It has destroyed my furniture, clothing and caused severe chronic pain in my hands, causing ongoing medical, physical therapy, shots, lotions every day ongoing.

Three owners at the retailers tried to duck out of problem. Companies insurance would do nothing.

Mfr says they will send a very small check, never do. They refuse to put experiation date on product so they can sell a 100-year old product. The product destroyed my property. It will not dry. Product is over 2 years past expiration. They refuse to put expiration date to see on product. That is illegal. When it would not dry I called their company. Inside the package they had me read a code that indicated the product was 2 years+ over expiration and technician at Permatex told me to remove product immediately. My hands were very irritated from this-hurt. The water and soap to remove product made the couch brittle and caused horrifying damage to the couch- aggravated my hands. Left hand had tumors, and right trigger finger had carpal tunnel, so removing product was of great effort and pain. Had to get cortisone injections and physical therapy ongoing.
