  1. No one hurt

Made May 28, 2015, sent to the company Jun 5, 2015, published by CPSC Jun 19, 2015

The product, in the report: Handle broke during normal cut in a 2x4.

During a regular cut on a 2x4 the handle broke and I was a step away from horribly cutting my hand. That handle should never brake under these circumstanaces.

The product, in the report: Sears Craftsman 10 in. compound miter saw, model # 137.212290 Serial# RKV44

I own a Sears Craftsman 10 inch compound miter saw model #137.212290. The saw was purchased from Sears on 12/11/2007. I only use the saw occasionally and it does not get any heavy use. On March 13, 2012, I was cutting some 2X4 lumber when the saw handle broke off the saw causing my hand to slip onto the turning saw almost cutting me. Upon examining the broken handle, it appears to have been defective and made with very inferior plastic parts. A saw of this type should have never broken under normal use. On march 20th, 2012, I returned the saw to the local Sears store in Myrtle Beach SC. I was advised to bring it to the repair window and they would send it out. When I advised the clerk that this is not a normal wear issue and that this tool should not have failed in this way, he stated there was nothing he could and it must go to repair. I feel that this product is defective and a hazard to any user of it. The saw should have been taken back by Sears and replaced with a new one. This model saw is going to severely injure a user of this product
