The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. Emergency room

Made Jul 30, 2017, sent to the company Aug 18, 2017, published by CPSC Sep 11, 2017

The product, in the report: KLEIN TOOLS, INC: Adjustable Hole Saw (for drywall and ceiling tile). Blades adjust to cut holes from 2” to 7”. Black and yellow packaging. Includes Dust Shield. Two cutting blades and a central drill bit.

The product (brand new) was being used to cut a hole in a drywall ceiling 5 inches in diameter for a recessed lighting fixture. Upon cutting the third hole, the center drill bit broke and the cutting blades bound up in the drywall which caused the drill motor to spin instead, the force of which twisted my hands (both of them) around and sent the drill motor flying across the room. This resulted in a trip to the urgent care center which determined I had multiple stress fractures in my right hand.
