No one hurt Made Nov 12, 2015, sent to the company Dec 23, 2015, published by CPSC Jan 8, 2016
The product, in the report: 18” gasoline chain saw, 42cc
(11/03/2015) The consumer stated that he was getting ready to put gas in the unit. He was not able to open the cap by hand. He had to use a Channel lock pliers to unscrew the cap. He drained the gas out of the unit into a glass jar. After draining the gas, he noticed water in the bottom of the glass jar. He remixed a brand new gallon of gasoline and put the mixture into the tank. He had to use the pliers to screw the cap back on. He noticed that the mixture was leaking from the vent hole in the cap. The consumer put the unit back into its case.
(11/12/2015) The consumer opened the case and noticed that all of the gas that was in the tank was in the case.
The consumer stated that this should not happen to a unit after two years.
The part was discontinued by manufactor, a replacement part is available only.

No one hurt Made May 29, 2013, sent to the company Jun 6, 2013, published by CPSC Jun 20, 2013
The product, in the report: Craftsman 6 amp Corded Reciprocating Saw with Dual LED Work Lights Sears Item# 00917175000 | Model# 17175 I copied and pasted the above info from the manufacturer’s website.
I was using this saw at the time to cut a branch that was fallen in my yard that was less than 3 inches in diameter. The blade kept falling out even though I would twist the locking mechanism as far as it would go, this product seems to be faulty. I saw several negative reviews online saying people had the same problem, but I just assumed they were fools who weren’t using it correctly, but in fact this product really has flaws and it is not user error. I believe this is a hazard because 1. It is unavoidable. The only way to avoid this problem is to not use the product! and 2. This can hurt you because one time the blade fell out, it kicked up into the air and came at me. It could have hit me in the face. This product seriously needs to be recalled.

No one hurt Made Oct 25, 2012, sent to the company Nov 2, 2012, published by CPSC Nov 19, 2012
The product, in the report: Craftsman 10 inch compound miter saw
I was cutting a piece of baseboard (5” across) with the miter saw when it seemed like it exploded, spewing nuts and bolts and screws all over the basement. The plastic blade guard was askew obviously out of its intended place and cracked and in some places chips broken out. Wish I had thought to take a picture.
I have used this product often since I bought it without incident. This was a great surprise.
I was not hurt but very well could have been with things going all over the place.

No one hurt Made Apr 17, 2012, sent to the company Apr 25, 2012, published by CPSC May 9, 2012
The product, in the report: 10” compound miter saw
Sears Craftsman miter saw guard is designed to open when dropping the saw for a cut. When allowing saw to return to its open position, the plastic blade guard can over close and catch/hangup on metal blade housing. When operator goes to make a cut, stuck blade guard may cause the operator to unlatch the guard by gripping and pulling guard open. Operators free may be held against trigger handle when freeing blade guard which may cause the operator to accidentally activate the saw trigger.

The product, in the report: 10” Laser Compound Miter Saw
*SAFETY HAZARD
Craftsman 10” Compound Miter Saw model 137.212290 Unit is approx 2 yrs old
Motor switch is built into the handle, when actuated then released, motor continues to run. Unit must be unplugged to turn off.
1/13/12 Contacted Craftsman customer service. They informed me the saw was no longer covered under warranty and I would have to purchase a new switch and install it myself.
Craftsman informed me the saw was manufactured by Rexon Industrial Corp. The affected part “limit switch” P/N OLU2

The product, in the report: Saw
Regarding [REDACTED] Yard Power Products, I believe the problem with the gas gaps distorting due to additives in the gasoline is also happening on my Craftsman Saw.
When new, the gas cap could easily removed (unscrewed) or replaced securely by hand. Now I must use a pair of channel lock pliers to remove the gas cap and more importantly, to tighten it securely so fuel does not leak when it is either in use or stored.
