No one hurt Made Aug 17, 2026, sent to the company Aug 20, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 4, 2026
The product, in the report: Westinghouse 15-inch pressure washer surface cleaner attachment, model PWSC. It is a round surface-cleaning attachment designed to connect to gas or electric pressure washers using a 1/4-inch quick-connect fitting. It is rated for up to 3,400 PSI and is intended for cleaning flat surfaces such as concrete, patios, driveways, and sidewalks.
I was using a Westinghouse PWSC 15-inch pressure washer surface cleaner for normal residential cleaning of a concrete surface. The surface cleaner was connected to a Westinghouse WPX3400 gas-powered pressure washer rated at 3,400 PSI and 2.6 GPM, which is within the surface cleaners stated specifications.
The surface cleaner had been used less than three hours total and this was only its second use. While I was operating it normally, the center portion of the surface cleaner suddenly broke apart and pieces of plastic were thrown into the air.
One of the plastic pieces struck me in the arm and caused a sharp stinging sensation similar to a bee sting. Fortunately, I did not suffer any visible injury or lasting mark.
The incident concerned me because the failure was sudden and created flying plastic debris that could have caused a more serious injury, especially if a piece had struck the face or eyes. I retained the damaged surface cleaner and all of the broken pieces.

The product, in the report: Westinghouse WPX3200 Gas Powered Pressure Washer
Hi,
I bought a Westinghouse 3200PSI Pressure Washer from Walmart a couple of weeks ago. I’ve used it for less than 10 hours so far, and have had the following problems related to the extreme heat that the unit reaches when in use.
-2 hoses with holes melted into them -1 second degree burn on my forearm from just GRAZING the engine while adjusting the hose connection.
All three of these happened from just brief contact with the engine. Yes, there is a picture indicating that it can get hot, but the hose invariably grazes the engine while moving around, and just a few seconds can result in a ruined hose.
In the case of my arm, the contact was a split second, and a significant injury occurred.
The design is dangerous, and also limits the functionality of the unit because I now have to replace the hose again in such short succession. This design should be pulled from the market, or a cover that can be attached to the engine should be sent to owners.
